Chapter 2
Tumblr media
A few years have passed since the incident that led to the death of the Patriarch of the Dojima family. He could still remember it like it was yesterday. Seeing Sohei's lifeless body sent shivers down Nishiki's spine. Although he did it to protect Yumi, the consequences for killing a higher-up could lead to severe punishment. However, his oath brother, Kiryu took the blame. Since then, Kiryu's whereabouts remain unknown for the next few years.
With Kiryu and Yumi missing, the isolation and depression swallowed Nishiki whole. For the next three years, Nishiki attempted to bury the incident with alcohol to escape from the guilt.
Reina was the only person around to provide him comfort from the unfortunate events.
Nishiki sat alone at the bar, sulking in his thoughts. The condensation of the alcoholic glass cup grew heavier the longer he didn't swig. He then glances over at the seat where Kiryu used to sit.
Reina returns from the break room in her casual attire.
Nishiki doesn't bother to look up. "I'm sorry for keeping you here longer." He mutters
"No need to apologize. Besides, I enjoy your company." She attempts to lighten the mood.
He finally grabs the glass and downs it in one gulp. The burning sensation in his throat causes him to cough a few times.
"How has everything been going with starting your own family?" She attempts to make conversation.
"It's nice and all, but it's been difficult." He pauses. The thought of Kiryu popped into his head, which caused a lump to form in his throat. "Everything's been a pain since Kiryu got caught. It's unlikely but it would be great to have Kiryu in my family once he's back." His voice trails. "I hope prison hasn't been hard on him." Despite Kiryu's whereabouts, he prays that the police got to him first than the Tojo clan.
She hums to herself. "I know it may not seem much, but I'm off tomorrow if you'd like to grab some food and maybe sing some karaoke. Something to take your mind off of things. My treat."
He smiles a bit to himself. It's been a long time since he's done something fun. Even if it was for a short bit, away from responsibilities for a few hours was what he needed. "I'll take you up on that offer." He looks up at her.
"Great. I'll call you tomorrow."
Not too long after, Nishiki leaves Serena for the night. He glances down at his watch, reading after 11 p.m. The bustling streets in Kamurocho didn't help as the alcohol slightly intoxicated his mind. The loud noises began to bother him. He wasn't quite ready to head back to his apartment just yet. Maybe taking the long way home, away from the crowds of people would help clear his mind.
The further he walked, the fewer people appeared around him and eventually, no one was around except him. The sound of the train whistling from afar and the soft chirping of crickets filled the quiet alleys where Nishiki walked.
Quiet nights like these are where he found most peace with. It reminded him of when he, Kiryu, and Yumi were younger. If only he could experience it one last time.
He was instantly pulled from his thoughts when he heard a loud crash not far from him. The noise startles him, causing him to go silent for a few seconds. He stood still. Maybe it was a cat? Then another loud sound follows.
"Hello?" Nishiki calls out. No reply.
A faint groan could be heard in one of the back alleys. Nishiki slowly walks towards the sound. The groaning grew louder the closer he got.
"Are you alright?"
"Help... please." The voice chokes out.
Nishiki's eyes widen. He runs to the sound where the voice cried out. Nishiki froze at the sight of the man. His blood ran cold.
The man's body slumped against the wall. Multiple large stabs scattered his torso, and his face was welt. He didn't budge. Another body lays out across from him. The corpse's head suffers from severe head trauma. Nishiki crouches next to the wounded man seeing the blood oozing onto the ground. The gold pin on the man's blazer indicated he was from the Majima family.
"What happened?!" Nishiki panics. "I'll get you an ambulance."
The man looks up at Nishiki with pleading eyes. Every word that tried to come out of his mouth was hard to understand. The man's eyes linger away to see a tall figure standing in the distance. The man lets out a harsh gasp and points.
Nishiki whips his head, and his body freezes once again.
"Ki-Kiryu?"
The rough and intimidating demeanor of Kiryu that Nishiki once knew was replaced with fury and madness. Scars scattered across his body. There was a small symbol carved on Kiryu's breast. Perhaps a family affiliated, but it was hard to tell who was responsible. Nishiki's heart sank at the sight of Kiryu. If he wasn't sent to prison, then he must have been sent to the hole.
"What have they done to you?!" Nishiki stands, taking a few steps back.
Kiryu takes a couple of long strides towards Nishiki. He glances down at the injured man and then at him.
"They took everything away from me. Striped my identity. Shamed me!" He grinds his jaw in anger. "I've been dubbed "The Patriarch Killer" all thanks to you." He growls. "I no longer carry the dragon on my back."
Kiryu briefly turns around to show was once a dragon, filled with delicate patterns and vibrant colors, was now severely burned and lacerated.
He walks over to the corpse where he bashed his head earlier, taking the dented bat from the corpse.
"I'm going to make sure your punishment was just as long as mine, kyodai." He spits.
Kiryu then looks over at the dying man and walks over to him. Nishiki backs up more and watches in shock as Kiryu raises the bat.
"I can't have any witnesses."
Nishiki instantly turns his heel and takes off. A blood-curdling scream fills the quiet night following the sound of metal colliding with the man's skull multiple times.
"Nishiki!" Kiryu roars.
His heart was pounding out of his chest as the feeling in his lower legs began to burn. He didn't turn to look back as Kiryu's voice yelled out for him. He couldn't let him catch up to him. He couldn't even imagine what horrible things Kiryu would do if he caught up to him.
He kept running until it felt like there was no oxygen left in his chest. He looked around to find a hiding spot, but his time was running short as Kiryu's voice rang out in anger. That was until a gloved hand reached for the back of Nishiki's neck blazer, yanking him into a dark back alley. A hand goes over his mouth while an arm pulls him deeper into the back alley. Nishiki tried to squirm out of the person's grasp.
"Stop moving and shut up!" The voice whispers.
Then, a tall silhouette emerges from the alley. The dragging of the bat scratches the walls of the buildings emitting an echo. "Nishiki..."
They held their breath and watched as Kiryu strolled by them. Neither one of them budged until Kiryu was no longer in sight.
The person's grip eases on Nishiki. He gently shoves the person's hands and steps away to see that it's Majima.
"I see you met him," Majima says.
Nishiki leans against the cold wall, finally catching his breath. He only nods in reply. "What... the... fuck happened to him?"
"I would be askin' you the same thing, but I guess yer just as clueless as me."
Nishiki regains composure. He couldn't believe what happened tonight. It didn't feel real. It had to be a bad dream. He buries his face in his hands as he begins to sob quietly.
Majima's brows furrow as he notices. "Hey. There ain't no time to be crying while he's out and about." He places a hand on Nishiki's shoulder. "We can go back to my office. We'll be safe there."

Goromi Gown
My Card where you can find my socials, where to buy my merch, and commission information, and places to support me like ko-fi https://blackmoonrose13.carrd.co/ Speed paint: https://youtube.com/shorts/sXeOoWax1tc
So...I have been watching Project Runway with a friend, and we were on an episode where they were supposed to make high fashion inspired by like what ever in this Garden in New York...which I wanna go to, and one of the worst outfits...it was supposed to look like this one flower plant thing, we all thought it looked inspired by a dragon fruit, and the cherry on top was it was made out of a patterned leather...due to the video not being like some 4k HD we had no clue what it was, I thought it looked like Snake skin and made a comment going this dress would be something Goromi would wear...also said she might be too classy for it...and then I decided in a fit of crazy to her in this dress.  Who missed me drawing Goromi? Or Majima in General?

BTW, My AFAB*s for Yakuza are currently (Part 1?):
*assigned furry at birth
(This is a small project I have where I come up with animals that could represent the cast in a furry universe. They lean more heavily in the direction of redwall-esque. They stand and move more like humans, but their anatomy is a bit more animalistic. They also wear clothes. I'm pretty sure. I just don't draw that atm bc I suck at it lol I also try very hard to limit the animals to ones found on the continent their races "come from." It's a weird rule I impose. And, if you're curious, a child could come from a breeding pair that is a completely different species. It's more of an "energy"/features thing.)
-----
Kiryu Kazuma:
[ Kiryu Kazuma ]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Smooth Chow/Shar Pei/Mix of the two
Any particular notes or reasons?
Even though I try to stick to Japanese dogs for the yakuza themselves, I really liked either/both of these options because of how bulky they are. The wrinkly face can also sometimes look pretty mean - but, by the same measure, they can look like teddy bears. Not to mention; Chow Chows were bred for, among other reasons, guarding. Shar Pei are fighting dogs.
Nishikiyama Akira, AKA "Nishiki":
[ Nishikiyama Akira, AKA "Nishiki" ]

Larger, bulkier version of Japanese Spitz (possibly some ambiguous mix?)
Any particular notes or reasons?
The breed is said to be eager to please. Not to mention, loyal! They're also regarded as a companion breed that can serve as a watch dog. Also, so, so beautiful.
Kazama and Arakawa:
[ Kazama and Arakawa ]
One of two breeds (different for each):

Shikoku Inu
Tumblr media
Kishu Ken
Any particular notes or reasons?
Both these breeds are considered old and rumored to have wolf blood. (Wolves in Japan are extinct, so this is the closest we'll get to them, if that's the case.) They're also both hunting dogs. And we all know both of these men did a fair bit of hunting in their day.
Majima Goro:
[ Majima Goro ]
Tumblr media
Striped Hyena
Any particular notes or reasons?
"Hyena" is just perfect for Majima. Keeping that in mind, he didn't start off "clownish" as a yakuza; quite the opposite. This particular type of hyena isn't famed for cackling; that's spotted hyenas. (Though, I did hear that they can laugh from some rando on the internet who claimed to live in a region that had striped yeen territory.) They're nocturnal, perfect for "The Lord of The Night." I also think them being skinny, top-heavy alternatives to spotted hyenas is more reminiscent of Majima's body type. Striped hyenas are also canine-enough for me to pass them on as appropriate for yakuza work. (I tend to make the yakuza dogs, but I decided that dog-like "counts" because of Maji, tbh.) There's a lot of interesting symbolism and lore in mythology concerning striped hyenas. Their history is also interesting. I could pull out some things I learned, but, honestly, I worked backwards from hyena to get this guy to fit. I'm sorry to have threatened the integrity of this project.
Masaharu Kaito:
[ Masaharu Kaito ]
Tumblr media
Tosa Inu
Any particular notes or reasons?
Tosa Inu are courageous watchdogs initially bred for fighting. They're also lovey to their "people" that they've bonded to (described as "quietly affectionate.") Because of which, they can be somewhat aggressive to other dogs that are "outsiders." And, honestly? I've never seen Kaito even try to play nice with other Yakuza (mostly outside the family, but "mostly" is a key word here), even if they aren't having an outright war. I also know that bully, jowly dogs are considered "ugly" to some people. People in the canon have called Kaito ugly. I believe, however, those real and fake people are full of it.
Takayuki Yagami, AKA "Tak"
[ Takayuki Yagami AKA "Tak" ]
Tumblr media
Domestic Cat (Oriental Shorthair?)
Any particular notes or reasons?
"Whet??" you say? Well, for starters, Tak isn't yakuza. So, not a dog. Besides, playing/watching a playthrough of Judgement for like an hour will make you see: Tak has MASSIVE cat energy. He's snarky and sarcastic, cool/level-headed, (somewhat?) dignified, curious as all hell (and aggravating when he wants something, particularly answers). Plus, idk, imagine a cat staring at you, judgementally. Perfectly natural, right? I feel like Yagami's eyes make you tell the truth, or at least makes you squirm.
More to come, bc this is a big post...
( Did I honestly forget The Best Boy?? I'm sorry, he'll be in the next one. )

Yoooi this game is making me want to rewatch old (well, the 80s and 90s) Japanese films. One's from Takashi Miike or find the films that the Yakuza (Like a Dragon) games are based on (or the other way around?). The dialogue and the random characters give this franchise so much character.
This was so great that I feel I'm going to be attending the university just to brush up on my skills 😂
I'm also going to be giving directions like this from now on 🤣

Nightmare - Chapter 2 - Akira Nishikiyama
Summary: Nishiki ran into Kiryu unexpectedly, but he was not who he once was. And Majima seemed to be in the same situation as Nishiki.
Warnings: If you haven't read chapter 1, this is an AU where Kiwami 1 spoilers are present, horror, gore, and swearing.
Available on Ao3
Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Nishiki wipes the tears from his face with his white blazer sleeve. He watches Majima poking his head out from the alley.
"I don't see him anywhere." He pauses, scanning both sides of the alleyway. He turns back to Nishiki. "My office ain't far, but we'll need to be quiet in case he comes back."
Majima was the first to cautiously exit the back alley, motioning Nishiki to follow behind.
Paranoia struck the two of them as they walked down the silent alley. The crickets Nishiki once heard moments ago vanished. Only their footsteps quietly made an echo to fill the dead silence. Nishiki looked back often to watch for Kiryu. Majima could faintly see a small puddle of liquid leaking from one of the back alleys. He begins to slow down.
"This was where I ran into him." Nishiki whispers.
Majima was the first to investigate the scene Kiryu left behind. He slowly enters the area, unprepared for the gruesome sight of his dead subordinates. Fresh crimson blood splattered on the walls and ground.
The one who Nishiki tried to save was the worst sight to be seen. The man's body slumped over to the ground. His head was beaten so many times to the point where the inside of the man's head was fully exposed. Bits of his skull scattered and missing, and blood fully seeped into his dress shirt. The last remains of his brain caved into his obliterated skull. He wasn't recognizable at all.
Being in the Yakuza meant he had to have a strong stomach, but this was too much for him. The sight made him feel lightheaded and nauseous the longer he stared at the corpses. His eyes force on Majima to prevent his symptoms from worsening.
"Majima?" He takes a few steps forward towards Majima who hasn't moved. Nishiki then steps in front of Majima, placing both hands on his shoulders. The color of Majima's skin drained and his eyes were in fear. "We should keep moving." He speaks again.
The feeling of Nishiki's cold hands lying on made him snap out of the trance. "Yer right." He rubs his good eye and exits the back alley.
The two of them shortly made it to Majima's office. The layout was much nicer looking compared to Nishiki's. Then again, he was only starting.
Nishiki briefly explored the small office lobby. The warm yellow lights gave it an atmospheric feeling of the Serena bar. A few couches neatly backed against the wall with a couple of plants to give a home feeling.
"It ain't much, but I'm upgrading in the future. If I'm gonna make it big, I should start expanding." Majima locks the front door behind him. Up the stairs and down the hallway was his office. Nishiki follows closely behind Majima.
The office was unusually quiet tonight. No sound of conversation was heard anywhere. "I thought your men would be looking after the office while you were gone."
"Well, it was one of those nights where I was feelin' nice to let them go home early." Majima's voice trails off. After what happened tonight, he regrets letting his men leave early.
Majima allows Nishiki to walk into the office first. "Make yerself comfortable. We're staying in for the rest of the night."
Nishiki sits down in one of the chairs examining the lack of decor in the office; only several chairs with a couple of coffee tables in between, a desk in front, and a few dull paintings hanging on the walls.
Majima walks up to the alcohol cabinet and takes out one of the several bottles. "Want me to make yerself one?" He offers.
Nishiki was feeling the sharp pain lingering in his head from too much alcohol from earlier. He couldn't handle another glass if he wanted to. "I had a few drinks earlier." He politely declines.
Majima pours himself one to the near top. He carefully walks over to sit across from Nishiki. A loud and long sigh escapes from Majima. "What a night." He downs the whole glass.
"So, was tonight the first time you saw him?" Majima asks.
He nods. "I don't know what to say about all of this. Do you think we should take this to the police?"
"To hear something like we saw, they'll think we're crazy."
Nishiki leans forward. "But your men."
"My dead men are in the hands of the police now." Anger rises in Majima's voice. He quickly catches his tone and leans back in the chair before speaking again. "I'm sure it'll be all over the news in the morning. For me, I'm gonna find a way to knock some sense in him. Even if it means beatin' the lights outta him."
Nishiki awkwardly leans back into the chair. "Did you happen to notice a carving on him?"
Majima hums to himself and ponders. "I do recall seeing it, but I couldn't tell what it exactly was. The carving looked sloppy for me to know who did it."
"Do you know what he wants?"
"I ain't got a clue. When my boys and I ran into him, he looked completely out of it. It looked like something you'd see out of a horror movie." Majima zones out. "One of my men saved me from being choked to death. I couldn't do anything to save them, if I did, I would have been dead along with them. Whatever kind of person he was three years ago is no longer him."
"Do you think he may have gone to the hole?"
"Considerin' my time in that shithole, I wouldn't think they would do something three times as bad, and then send him out in the streets looking like that."
"I think we should let Chairman Sera know about this."
"It will help resolve issue faster than the police will. And I'm sure it'll be safe to leave in the morning. I don't think a half-mutilated shirtless man will be walking around in broad daylight."
"You're right."
"Well..." Majima stands up. "I'm gonna go make sure the doors and windows are locked up. Get some shut-eye."
----------------------------------
Heavy raindrops hitting the windows following loud thunder awoke Nishiki from his sleep. He shifts uncomfortably to sit up from the floor. The clock on the wall read past three in the morning. He looks over at Majima sounding asleep with his back facing him.
"Majima?" He whispers.
He doesn't move, but a small snore could be heard from him.
Another burst of thunder startles Nishiki. He wasn't a fan of thunder and lighting, and there was no way he was going to be able to fall back asleep. It wouldn't hurt to walk around for a bit.
Nishiki stands up from the floor and quietly walks to the door. He turns his head to look at Majima still sounding asleep.
He unlocks the door and leaves.
The lightning strikes briefly light up the long dark hallway. Nishiki's dress shoes made a small echo with each step. He looks out the window to see the storm picking up. The harsh raindrops and wind made the outside hard to see. Only a few city lights could be seen dimly lit. The raindrops hitting the window were the only sound that helped with the eerie silence of Majima's office.
Upon going downstairs, sounds of shuffling could be heard. With the incident leaving Nishiki traumatized, he wasn't sure if it would be wise to investigate.
But perhaps it was his mind messing with him. The wind must have picked something up causing him to react so timidly. It wouldn't hurt to check what the noise was. Maybe it was better to know what it was rather than letting your imagination decide what it could be. Checking it out will alleviate the anxiety that was gnawing at Nishiki's heart and mind.
He cautiously takes small and quiet steps toward the noise that startled him. The noise led him to the lobby. He checks the front door and windows. Both were locked. He feels relieved.
As he returns walking back upstairs a cold wind brushes the side of his face. Nishiki quickly snaps his head around the room. He remains still as his eyes dart around the dark lobby. Then he sees it in the distance.
Nishiki's heart sank as he began approaching the back door of the office. The doorknob was kicked off and cracked open.
It felt as if his heart sank to the pit of his stomach. "Majima!" He shouts and then the feeling of someone's hand reaching for his neck forces his body up against the wall.
Large fingers pressed into his neck making him unable to speak. Both of Nishiki's hands wrap around the person's wrist to try to push the hand away. Lightning illuminated the lobby for a couple of seconds to reveal Kiryu. The rain had washed away the blood and dirt on his body. The veins in his eyes were a crimson color with bags underneath. His face was filled with pure rage.
Nishiki's eyes widen and panics as he tries to push him with everything he has.
"P-Please...don't." Nishiki chokes out. Black dots began to cloud Nishiki's eyes followed by blurred vision. He starts to wheeze as he takes in his few final breaths.
Then a thud was heard. The grasp on Nishiki's neck quickly releases making him fall onto the ground. He takes a few seconds to recover and upon looking up, he sees Majima who seemed to have hit Kiryu with the butt of his tanto.
Kiryu was on his knees leaning on the ground and crying out in pain.
Majima quickly helps Nishiki up off the floor. "Leave now!" He shouts. "I'll buy you time."
Nishiki was struggling to regain consciousness. "Wha'...about you?"
"Forget about me. You must let the Chairman know." Majima helps him to the door to escape.
"I'll hold him off for as long as I can." Majima feels a hand forcing him to land on the floor. His tanto was thrown out of his hand. He watches Nishiki standing at the door. Majima could tell he wanted to help. "Go damn it!" He shouts.
Nishiki obeys and bolts outside in the storm.
Kiryu hardly had the opportunity to chase after him when he felt Majima grab onto his leg making him trip and fall.
Majima quickly stands up. "You ain't goin' nowhere, fucker." He snarls.
Kiryu stands up. His height was slightly towering over Majima. His hand reaches his temple where the weapon collided. He winces as the spot begins to swell and blood covers his fingertips when his hand returns to examine the injury. He had a feeling he wouldn't make it to sunrise, but he knew his sacrifice would allow Nishiki to tell what happened.
"Yer gonna pay for what you did to my men."
----------------------------------
Nishiki's soaked clothes made it uncomfortable for him to run. The fall weather mixed with heavy rain made him freeze. He was only able to run down a couple of streets before he had to catch his breath after running and almost being choked to death. He hid in one of the alleys. He didn't notice where he was at. Nishiki ran as far as he could with whatever energy he had. He couldn't take refuge in a convenience store. It would be risky. But where could he go? The Serena bar was closed, but if it were opened, he wouldn't dare to put Reina's life in danger. He couldn't hide in his home either. Kiryu knew where he lived. The Tojo clan headquarters was far, but it would draw too much attention if Kiryu were to somehow catch up to him. The last thing he wanted was to get pedestrians involved. However, there was one person nearby who could help.
