Oscar: I had thought so. Please take care not to hurt her, she means a great deal to me-

Ruby: Wait, are you giving me the shovel talk?

Oscar: Not Quite. I won't be threatening you, and even if I did, I have no doubt that you could well and truly defend yourself from me.

Oscar: I'm simply asking you to be Patient with her. She's still recovering from all that Cinder and Salem had done to her. I have no doubt that she will make mistakes in the future, and it will require patience for her to learn to let you help recover from said mistake.

Ruby: I know Oscar. I've been there- in a some kind of similar position at least - I planned on it happening, and I was going to do that anyway.

Oscar: I'm just making sure. Thank you Ruby.

No Plan is Perfect (A Crossover Shitpost)

Mad Scientist: *cackles insanely* "I've done it! I've finally done it! I created the perfect device: The Dimensional Tide!" *he steps back from the device*

*he steps back, and the machine lights up and turns on, making a giant rift, in reality, appear*

Mad Scientist: "With this, I'll hold the nations of the world hostage with the horrors from the worst of dimensions. Nothing in this world can stop me!!"

*suddenly, a swarm of black-skinned monsters with bone-like armor, The Grimm, escapes the rift as the machine sparks with ominous electricity*

Mad Scientist: *blinks, gulping as screams and explosions can be heard* "Oh, it seems my device had malfunctioned and opened multiple rifts...Well, it can't get any worse."

*THOOM!....THOOM!!*

*The rogue scientist runs towards the window, seeing an unmistakable beast*

"SSSKKKREEEEOOOONK!!!"

Mad Scientist: *grimaced* "I...I spoke too soon."

ok so here's how i see artificial gemstones actually happening. hear me out, idk if CRWBY have the balls but i think there's a genuinely nonzero chance this could come real. also if anyone wants to write this fic be my guest, i'd love to read it

Despite Ascending and choosing herself, Ruby still pretty clearly has mental health issues going on due to being the most stressed 17 year old of all time, real or fiction. Ascension and her boba-talk with Yang will help, but she doesn't feel like she can or should sort out all her problems with just WBY - she needs to talk to someone else.

JNR have their reunions to get through and Jaune's problems to sort out - she doesn't feel like she can bother them even if she was 100% ready to forgive Jaune. Oscar and Ozpin have their whole deal happening and she's there for Oscar but definitely can't pile her problems on his plate. Qrow helps how he can, but he's older and less wise and she feels uncomfortable talking to him about the Penny aspects, not to mention how he's been attached at the hip to Best Bro Robyn for months now. But Ruby is genuinely trying to learn her lesson, and she needs to talk to someone.

So Ruby turns to the newest member of their group, the only one who's been through anywhere near as much shit as her, the girl she had a crush on those years ago at Beacon. She turns to Emerald.

Over the course of V10, we see them fighting together and talking through Atlas and Beacon and Penny and Cinder. Emerald can't stop apologizing for Beacon and Penny's first death at first, but Ruby has been as over that as she can get since Volume 4 and especially since Penny's resurrection. She forgives Emerald, and Em tries to take it in stride but it hits her harder than she wants to show. Ruby can tell.

Ruby's problems are harder to talk through, of course, but Emerald is there for her, plain and simple. She can see through the crap when Ruby pretends she's all the way better - can't trick a trickster.

They heal together, slowly but surely, and they get close like Ruby wanted to back at school. Maybe they get together romantically in here at some point and maybe they don't, but it's pretty clearly on its way.

Then Amity finally lands. Thanks to Penny lifting it high into the atmosphere, it doesn't land near Vytal like Pietro's original calculations, but in the ocean off of Vacuo's coast, and they successfully rescue Pietro and Maria.

Pietro immediately starts working to bring his daughter back, of course. He can't save those last couple of days after the virus infected her, let alone after she was made human, but he can restore her memory and mind from her last hard backup before that. Maybe he sacrifices the last of his soul and dies to save her, maybe he doesn't go quite that far, but regardless it's not enough. Someone needs to give a bit of their soul to bring her back.

Everyone expects it to be Ruby who volunteers, and she would have, but Emerald's hand goes up first. This is how she can atone for her sins, she thinks, and finally gain the trust of people she doesn't realize she already has it from. She can help revive this girl who her (girl)friend has such intense feelings for, who was her worst victim what feels like a lifetime ago.

And so, Penny is brought back, missing a couple traumatic days worth of memories and with a piece of Emerald's soul. Her eyes open and there's a tiny spot of red in them. roll credits v10 finale

Ruby feels incredibly lonely and isolated at Beacon, especially as her teammates and Yang found other people in two years. She *craves* affection, so when Emerald kindly asks her out Ruby jumps at it.

(Okay, yeah, I can do this)

It had started in Ruby’s third year of Beacon. First, Blake and Yang had gotten together, breaking her heart. A crush that she had tried to act on, only to push her crush for Blake away. Though despite her broken heart, she put on a smile to congratulate the two for getting together, still happy for them. 

Then there was Weiss. Another crush Ruby had to let go once she saw her get together with Sun and Pyrrha. And once again, she put up a smile and tried to be happy for her. And yet, she found herself starting to feel alone. 

Graduation was just around the corner and Ruby couldnt help but start to worry about her dating life. It wasnt that she was worried that she’d be alone, no, she was sure that she could go without finding a partner and still be happy. What bothered her was that she felt like she was losing a connection to her team. Weiss was often out with Sun and Pyrrha, and in correlation Jaune and Neptune, and Blake and Yang always seemed to be out dancing or taking quiet dates around Vale. It had been months since she’d been able to do anything with her team that didnt devolve to a spur of the moment date and she was tired of it. Tired of being a third wheel, tired of not having that connection to her teammates, afraid of losing them and being left behind. 

“Everything alright?” Emerald asked as she sat down next to Ruby. “You havent touched your dessert. And normally I have to get you to slow down.” 

“Yeah, I’m fine,” Ruby said as she took a bite of her cheesecake, not aware she’d gotten herself lost in thought. “Guess I’m nervous about graduating.” 

Emerald rolled her eyes. “Last week you were excited about it and Cinder and I helped you figure out a plan for once you were out of Beacon. So spill it, what’s making you nervous now?” 

“Its… its my team.” 

“Your team?” 

“Yeah.” 

“Alright, explain.” 

Ruby sat down her fork and paused for a moment as she tried to think of the right words to say. A small blush crossed her cheeks as she glanced up at Emerald for a brief moment before talking again. “I… I dont know, I guess I’m worried about not having a team once we graduate. Weiss will go back to Atlas for a bit, Blake and Yang are planning to travel around, and I… I’m planning to stay here. Which is all fine, but, I… I guess its all starting to hit me that I’ll be-” 

“Alone?” Emerald interrupted. “You know you wont be alone, right?” 

“I know but I…” Ruby’s words started to trail off again as she stared at her cheesecake. Weiss, Blake, and Yang would never leave her alone and she knew that. She still had her friends, Emerald and Cinder and Jaune and his team, that were going to stick around. Even Mercury was someone she had nearby, even if she couldnt stand him. “It feels different with them. They’re my team, my first friends here and the ones I trust. And right now I feel… behind. They’re going to be moving on and I’m going to be stuck.” 

“Stuck?” 

“Stuck.” 

“If you’re feeling stuck, then maybe we can change that.” 

Ruby raised a brow. “Change how?” 

“Want to go on a date with me?” Emerald asked plainly. 

“Yes!” Ruby blurted out, only to pause and clear her throat. “Y-yes, I’d… I’d love to.” 

Emerald giggled a bit and stole a bite of cheesecake. “A bit eager, dont you think?” 

“I-its not like that,” Ruby said as she looked away to hide her blush. “You’re pretty and most people tend to be scared to try to ask me or worried that I’m too young even though I’m an adult.” 

“Then meet me here next friday. Oh, and dont forget to wear a dress. If we’re going to do this, we’re going to do this right.” 

Ruby nodded and watched Emerald walk off, her blush slowly fading. A date with Emerald would certainly be a change of pace from their current Friday nights out to get a bite to eat and catch up with each other. Then, the words Emerald said finally hit her. “A-a dress?!” She quickly scarfed down the rest of her cheesecake and started to pack her things. “Hopefully the one I wore to the dance last year still fits. I really dont need to ask Weiss to come with me to find one.”
