The relic of choice 👑
Alot of fans thin the relic is hidden here athe ruins where the characters during their first test to get into beacon academy and become partners along the way fans have theorized that The relic is hidden here
Tumblr media
Think about oz and all the life's he's had why is it work so hard to hide the relic of choice, if anything the most deadliest relic seems to be the relic of creation you can create anything you could even if you wanted to create a new form of ground to just kill more people if you knew how to actually make ground like Salem does which I think is something
she's going to do when she gets that staff working at some point during the next few volume so why oz/the king of vale watch over the staff instead but it was stated to us in volume 8 that the staff was being used to help keep at atlas up in the sky along with the bit of gravity dust, the relics seem to be more powerful than we think
But then in the Rwby fairytale book and show we read/saw how the relic of choice is used and it can give some on a clear vision of the future or show them so many outcomes it drives them mad,
Tumblr media
So maybe out of fear of the crown driving ppl and even Salem of she got it mad oz fide the crown instead of putting it in a vault like the other relics
And I think oz maybe knew that it was hard to keep the maidens in one place I believe before that the maidens were just roaming around using the powers he gave them for good
Tumblr media
but I think he maybe at one point maybe as the king of veil or maybe when he became ozpin use the crown and possibly I saw an outcome where the maiden Powers will be hunted down by Salem's forces so that's maybe another reason why he hid it in a different place because it's never really made sense to me why he decided to tie the maidens to the vault especially considering there's a possibility
that if Salem wanted she could send someone after maidens and steal the maiden powers for herself because the maiden powers can only go to female women in Salem is a woman and although she is old technically Salem stopped aging at the age of 17 to
18 years old there is a possibility she could reabsorb that power and as we saw in volume 3 Salem has a bug that can help someone absorb that power
Tumblr media
so who's to say Salem at some point couldn't absorb that power I mean after all that is why she's sending cinder around to get the maiden Powers
Tumblr media
there's a possibility she's trying to get those Powers not just off of Oz's side but make sure that she can keep the powers needed to access the relics in case they get locked up again by oz
But as to were oz hide the relic I believe it's in the forest but not in the emerald forest or forever fall I believe it somewhere in between them both
Tumblr media
in the middle of the red and green forest the red and green the match Salem and oz and the 2 character that parallel them Oscar and Ruby with both red and green as well
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
This is about ships by the way just the color and how they match

So... about the "Ironwood Was Right" thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I recently saw this resurface a bit, in the context of Ruby's regrets in Volume 9. Basically, taking the fact that she felt like she'd failed as the show saying that yes, actually, she was wrong to go against Ironwood's plan in Volume 7.
I feel like I went into thinking about this trying to debunk it on a logical level. Like, is it actually a good idea to fly off into the sky in one big long stalling measure when your opponent is literally immortal? What's stopping Salem from grabbing all the rest of the relics and then just waiting as many generations as it takes, until the people of Atlas forget why they came up there in the first place and return to Remnant out of curiosity?
The thing is, treating it as an argument about what's the more "rational" choice is missing the point that like. We're talking about a story. We don't know exactly how many people are in Atlas and in Mantle and where they are and how many more trips they'd have to take to finish the evacuation, because details like that would just bog things down.
This is not a trolley problem with x number of people from Mantle on one side and y number of people from Atlas on the other. This is a trolley problem with a wealthy and powerful person on one track, and a disadvantaged person an alternate track, and Ironwood choosing to pull the lever instead of trying to stop the trolley. The point is not "how many." It's not about math. The point is that there is a fundamental difference between dying in the central location while a bunch of Huntresses and Huntsmen do absolutely everything in their power to protect you, and dying abandoned in the mines you used to work while the city built off of your labor flies away to safety.
The question this conflict is asking is about whether or not other people can be sacrifices. Ironwood says yes—team RWBY disagree. That's the actual crux of this argument. Does Ironwood have the right to decide who deserves protection and who isn't worth the risk? Do we get to give up on other people before we've even tried to save them? It's about the idea of certain people being disposable. Mantle's wall isn't important, Amity is. Amity will protect all of Atlas, and that wall will only help the people in Mantle. It implies that their safety is an acceptable sacrifice for the greater good. It treats them as disposable.
There's a reason it was Nora who spoke up and pointed out that it's always Mantle being asked to bear the burden for the greater good. Nora has been a disposable person before. Hell, Cinder has been a disposable person! The way Atlas (through the madame) treated a living person as a resource to be exploited or sacrificed is the entire reason that Cinder is trying to burn the kingdom down. Thematically, Atlas cannot escape the danger she poses by sacrificing more disposable people.
One of the biggest themes of this show is cooperation. It's all about how Salem can only be defeated by working together. But working together is not possible if certain people are taking on all of the risk, all of the sacrifice. Everyone has to be willing to put some skin in the game. Like, imagine trying to do a group project if you knew half of you were guaranteed to get an A no matter what and the other half weren't.
So the idea that Volume 9 is supposed to come back around and say that actually, that plan that would have literally divided a city in half and cut loose the poorer half like fucking ballast, that was the right thing all along and Ruby Rose was wrong to challenge it... that would be an absolute disaster of a thematic statement.
This is not a show about hard military men making hard military choices. It's not going to contrive a situation where cold-blooded calculation determines that the right thing to do is to pull up the ladder. Because outside of weird philosophical experiments about trolleys, the right thing to do usually has more to do with empathy. Compassion. Cooperation. All that gay shit.

Imagine how perfect it would be if it turns out that Salem is actually COUNTING ON the heroes killing Cinder out of revenge?
As in, Salem has a failsafe in place to ensure that if Cinder dies, she can still recover the Maiden powers from her. Perhaps Salem has a small grimm (similar to what Cinder used to extract the powers from Amber) imbedded deep inside Cinder, or some form of mental conditioning to ensure that if Cinder dies, the Maiden powers WILL go where Salem wants them to. Either to Salem herself or perhaps one of her other hybrids or perhaps even a specialized grimm Salem has modified to specifically serve as a storage-device for the Maiden powers until Salem can find a new holder for them*.
Meaning that when Cinder just can’t resist her raging hate-boner for not-actually-dead Ruby and sneaks/tears off to Vacuo against Salem’s orders to murderify her once and for all, Salem isn’t actually worried.
First Salem decides that Cinder has finally lost her ‘free will’ privileges and triggers the ‘assuming direct control’ protocols of Cinder’s grimm implants/prosthetics, causing Cinder to forcibly undergo a horrific and painful transformation into a full grimm hybrid just as she’s about to fight Team RWBY. Complete with Salem giving a terrified Cinder a classic ‘you have outlived your usefulness’ telepathic speech.
At this point, Salem can see only two possible outcomes to this charade: Either Grimm!Cinder is able to survive her rampage and make it back to her, now an entirely obedient slave. Or she’s killed by Team RWBY and co, in which case Salem can still get the Maiden powers back and find a new host, making this far more of an inconvenience than a true setback. And with any luck, perhaps Cinder’s rampage will manage to do some serious damage, maybe kill off a few of Salem’s more prominent enemies.
Even when Ruby is able to hit Grimm!Cinder with a full-power Silver Eye blast that manages to obliterate the vast majority of her grimm-attachments, even if she’s lost direct contact, Salem still isn’t worried.
After all, there’s no way the heroes will be able to resist killing the girl who has done so much to hurt them and take so many of their friends from them.
But then Ruby does the ONE thing Salem wasn’t counting on.
She shows Cinder MERCY.
Instead of simply being killed, Cinder is captured. And is therefore removed from Salem’s influence and given the opening to be shown genuine sympathy, positivity and kindness for what may be the first time in her life.
At the very least, from Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang, who have already seen first-hand the horrors of Salem’s grimm-experiments back in Atlas. And in Ruby’s and Yang’s case, are almost certainly grappling with the looming possibility that their mother was subjected to similar horrors.
And thus, through acts of mercy and kindness, Team RWBY is able to completely blindside Salem, removing one of her most vital agents from her control, and ultimately turning her AGAINST Salem.
Salem has always counted on her enemies showing cynicism, ‘pragmatism’ and cruelty.
But her enemies showing optimism, idealism and KINDNESS?
THOSE are the things Salem ISN’T expecting.
Not to mention it would play PERFECTLY into the themes of ‘Choice’ that have always surrounded Cinder: By chasing after Ruby to Vacuo, Cinder; the girl who has spent her entire life being denied a ‘choice’ by those in power above her, is finally MAKING a choice. And after spending the entire show dancing obediently on Salem’s strings, Cinder is defying Salem. And through this choice to defy, Cinder inadvertently puts herself in the position to be finally FREED of Salem’s control.
All because of Ruby.
Oh, and also the reactions of all of the people who have spent years now baying for Cinder’s blood would be fucking hilarious XD I mean just imagine the show pointing directly at everyone clamoring for Jaune or Ruby to ‘take revenge’ and how Cinder ‘totally deserves to die’ and effectively saying “Yeah, so the villain was actually counting on the heroes to do EXACTLY THAT.”
--
*And if anyone is going to say something like ‘grimm can’t use maiden powers’, let me reiterate that it is to STORE the powers. Let’s not forget that we have seen grimm being used as a conduit for Maiden powers when Cinder stole part of Amber power and later tried to steal power from Raven and Penny. So it stands to reason that grimm could also be used to store the power as well. Which all frankly makes perfect sense when we consider that both the grimm and the magic of the maidens ultimately come from the same source: The God of Darkness (remember when he called magic “My gift to them”?)

Jaune: “Come on, I’m a responsible adult!”
Ren: *raises brow* “Really now?”
Jaune: “...I am an adult.”
Ren: “You bought more merch, didn’t you?”
Jaune: “...No?”
Pyrrha, with the Disappointed Parent Gaze™: “Jaune…”
Jaune: “Come on, it was a limited edition!”
Weiss: “You spent $500 in two hours, Jaune.”
Jaune: “Hey, at least it’ll be around for more than 48 hours.”
Nora: “Okay, I know that was a dig at me, but I don't really have a response that would make me look better. Touché.”

Weiss: I don't care what anyone says, Grimmdom Hearts is the greatest dating sim ever made.
Yang: Oh yeah? Why is that?
Weiss: Because you can spend an entire in-game hour just petting girls on the head. It is utterly adorable.
Yang: Ah, so you've got a petting fet- *gets shoved off the couch*
Weiss: *angry blushing* No! Shut up!
Ruby&Penny: *sneakily making plans to have Weiss pet their heads for an hour*

I'm really not as critical about rwby as I think I am, and I'm definitely not as critical as other people who have very valid points to make.
My honest biggest gripe with rwby is that, on paper (and with your brain half off), rwby is really cool. In theory, rwby is an interesting story. In isolated moments, rwby appears to be full of heart and passion, but actually siting through and watching rwby is booooorrrring. Boring that boarders on insulting because of how full of air rwby is, that somehow they've made 9 volumes, mind you filled with big important plot altering scenes, and yet it still feels like I've watched nothing. All those moments that if watched in isolation feel important and gripping when watched with it's context loose all it's weight because everything surrounding it adds up to nothing.
Rwby is deceptively interesting, in that it deceives you into thinking it's gonna be cool. It doesn't reward people who actually care about what it presents.
