i feel like every time i think about rvb13 i find something new to love about it (this time, specifically, it was the way doyle talked about kimball) but i end up circling back to felix in this season every time because the perspective shift throughout this season compared to 11 and 12 is just fucking wack levels of good honestly

even after the reveal in 12 we get locus positioned as the "scary" and "unfeeling" one, but 13 does such a good job with the, like, creeping horror of pulling back the curtain on just how far off the fucking deep end felix is. locus has clearly put in effort to rein in and stamp out his conflicted feelings; felix never even remotely felt anything like that in the first place. every smooth-talking threat he delivers in this season (the price and sharkface one comes to mind; i know there was another too) is so effective because it shows that he. is. constantly. constantly. running calculations to make everything work in his favor. and when he starts to turn that on locus (the fight on the bridge; 'we have our orders') is when you know with complete certainty that every time felix has outwardly deferred to locus has been another grain of sand to tip the scale his way. this man is tremendo fucked and completely unhinged and he really might just be one of if not the most baddies ever for it

I wonder if Tyrian was going after faunus (like Fiona) on purpose, because of that chance of seeing in the dark- it’s been brought it up, on how other people should have been able to see and they obviously didn’t forget about it because Tyrian could see during the attack

He could have gone for Robyn first, and obviously he was going after the crowd for maximum body count, but Penny “killing” Robyn would have had the same effect and seemingly confirmed Ironwood killing pro-Mantle activists- by targeting faunus it 1. reinforces the racial element of racist Atlas, 2. gets Fiona out of the way, who’s clearly important to Robyn (she won’t be thinking straight and Fiona’s gonna be a first priority), and 3. removes potential witnesses

Anyways, beyond that, hey so obviously not all faunus can see in the dark, but I’m now wondering if Marrow’s able to see? or not. because he didn’t really react during the whole attack, and his semblance seems like it could have stopped that from what we’ve seen, and I’m really really hoping I’m wrong here because I don’t want him to be bad

OKAY SO LIKE, I can kinda explain this. Maybe, hopefully (and if anyone wants to correct me please do) because I was pretty active in the rvb fandom from 2015/2016-2018/2019 (I joined right as rvb13 first started airing) and I was mostly active on my Tex RP blog. And I cannot, for the life of me, remember how popular the “Tex didn’t know she was a robot” headcanon was but I know that when I first threw it out there as a possibility I had to defend it a lot. Like, I was having to write essays on this and tag it with the main tags in the hopes that somebody else might agree with me, or give me more evidence to support my headcanon.

Eventually, Westworld became pretty popular so I was able to say “Fuck it, if westworld is able to make realistic android bodies and keep their androids from realizing they’re AI, then I can say that the Director made Tex think she was a real girl and CT was the one who woke her up to the reality of what she was.” and I just started treating that headcanon as my own personal canon. Eventually people stopped trying to argue with me about it, and started to accept it as a decent head canon and explanation for a lot of Tex’s actions during PFL.

I ended up deleting my RP blog & main blog in late 2018/early 2019 and left the fandom around that time too, but a lot of my headcanons for Tex seem to have become fanon lore for her on tumblr.

If I recall correctly, the notion that Tex didn't know she was a robot was an extrapolation based on her looking at her hand during the scene where she discovers the truth. There's also the Out of Mind weirdness where she seems to have memories of basic training, which she obviously didn't go through.

Thanks for clearing it up! A conspiracy theorist inside my head says that if Tex talked about these memories, maybe she was lying on purpose. But a rationalist is pretty sure it's just a small plot hole.

I wonder how many people came to the same conslusion, and if "Tex believed she was a human" is sort of Mandela effect in RvB fandom.
