She was a challenge as she does not have inset eyes, so I had to paint them myself. I still think she turned out pretty! I also gave her a full body blushing, manicure, and a pedicure too.

Take my words with a heap of salt, because I didn't read the actual book. All I did was watch some long videos and reading a few reviews. But like, some authors can fuck up even when they're writing about their own culture.

Anyways, I want to rip the author of To Gaze Upon a Wicked God to shreds. She's of Chinese descent, but I honestly felt like she was just exploiting our people's history for "cool" and "novel" plot points for profit. She wrote a fucking colonizer romance between a traitor Chinese assassin and the prince of the invading nation whose idea of peace is to subjugate China without genocide. I guess that makes him better than ✨ the other ones ✨

And before someone rightfully ask if I'm reading too much into it or if I'm misinterpreting anything, they explicitly marketed the book as a "Zutara inspired enemies to lover romance based on the Russian/Japanese invasion of Machuria." She namedrops Unit 731 as an inspiration. You know, the human experimentation base, one of the most horrific crimes against humanity, a permanent scar that won't heal right because Japan insists on never acknowledging its war crimes? Oh, btw, the male lead created the in universe equivalent of Unit 731. Yeah, the love interest.

The whole thing is set in an alternate universe where "Chinese people" aka the Panguians never developed technology because ~magic~ and they fought with bows and arrows because ~magic~ This au version of China, which has no modern weapon and NO MEDICINE is supposed to be Qing China? This really annoys me because she was writing for a primarily western audience, and this weak, infantilized, orientalised mess is already how they picture China during the invasion of foreign forces. Like, I would not be nearly as annoyed if the author herself didn't specify that she was writing about that time period. I actually like orientalism in small doses, it can be aesthetic.

Apparently the marketing surrounding the book is pivoting hard because of the negative reviews coming out. Now, they're acting like the male lead wasn't supposed to be the love interest. The real love interest is her childhood friend of course. Like girl, bffr, you said it yourself it's enemies to lovers and your mc literally just fell in love with the prince while she was being ordered to kill the leaders of her own people.

Last time I was this baffled by the tone-deafness of a Chinese creator vis-à-vis the Century of Humiliation was in 2013, when Ringdoll came out with Hayato the Imperial Japanese soldier bjd

There are a ton of links coming, so the questions first. For one, Aliexpress and Ebay are horrible sources to get BJDs, because 99,9% of dolls there are bootlegs, also known as recasts. They're basically illegally made copies of original dolls. While in the past recasters tried to pass their dolls as 'the real deal' from the company (just extremely cheap), nowadays, they're giving the dolls new names and are selling them under their own 'company name'. Don't be fooled. They're still copies. There are a few very good BJD facebook groups, like BJD Addict or BJD Lovers, where you could ask for help to identify a recast listing.

If you're looking for dragons specifically, Dreamvalley is releasing dragons once in a while and for events (like 2 to 3 times a year). You can get them via any of the dealers I've linked below.

Most of the dragons I own are made by Cuartodolls who is (was?) a russian doll artist that went completely silent in 2022. Her page got shut down. Even before the whole Ukraine War, she was hard to get ahold off... I'm currently only consider selling my Cuartodolls Ketar, but he originally was 1500$, so he's not really suited to be starter doll :,D

No one got a tracking number for their corsets from wr3n workshop. Theres a group on IG of people who ordered from wren. She used to update them with in progress pictures, YEARS AGO, and even post it on her stories and posts, yet, the past couple of years theres only those fake timetables and new disaster updates. There are plenty of people, including a famous artist in the group who hadn't gotten their tracking numbers or corsets, the shit is about to hit the fan real soon because people are fed up. Someone asked her if she had pictures of the orders she shipped and she said she couldnt disclose it since it was private, like blur wasnt a tool she could use.

Heres another thing, Russians havent been able to sell their dolls because of paypal and general difficulties with the post. Guess who would sell on their behalf on commission, without having the item at hand yet? She posted these sales on DOA and IG. I can't see her current IG since she has privated, but I do see screenshots in the group chat. Be wary of dealing with wr3n aka nat4lya Pigun0va of Georgia. She is a scammer and you will never see your money or item.

I find it funny that Batch1x defended and befriended hellc0rgi, and now wr3n workshop, guess she really likes corset scammers. Am I bitter? Yes. I do not like people belittling people who have been scammed, she makes it hard for people like me to speak up because scammers are friends with famous BJD people. I hope the artist who was scammed speaks up, so that I and others feel comfortable sharing our story and warning, but as of now, I'm urging people to be wary of this scammer. If you really must buy from her, do not pay F+F, Do not let the paypal deadline pass and do not commission her, only buy ready made items.

I GOT MY FIRST BJD

he arrived yesterday. i wanted to get pictures, maybe even a cute box opening photoshoot, but my hands were shaking too much and i was too fucking impatient. and he’s essentially a naked mole rat rn bc i have nothing for him except the eyes and faceup :D

everybody’s been normal and even happy for me so far; then again only two family members know.
