First impressions of the Guardians of Azuma bachelorettes.
Under the cut
Tumblr media
Kaguya
Planning to play as her so can't romance. Seems like a nice girl, but gives me best friend vibes
Tumblr media
Iroha
Very cute. I definitely prefer cute girls over cute guys. But feels more like a little sister.
Tumblr media
Hina
I'm sorry, you have shown me a picture of my niece. Still a cutie though
Tumblr media
Ulalaka
Currently my first choice in girls. Very pretty. Liked her design better once I realized she had a braid cause I like that look. Like, big braids not a thin Lara Croft braid
Tumblr media
Matsuri
Feels like the tomboy/sporty type. Not really interested
Tumblr media
Kanata
Gives me proper lady vibes. Might be interested, that type can be hit or miss with me
Tumblr media
Clarice
Saw a shot of her without her hat in the English trailer and, honestly, without it she looks kinda plain. I think I preferred Lynette.
Tumblr media
Pilika
Looks very cute. In game model makes hair look fluffy and I love fluffy hair. Probably tied with Ulalaka for my first choice. Definitely buying the dlc

TORRANCE, Calif. — Jan. 16, 2025 — Marvelous USA announced today that Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma will launch globally on the Nintendo Switch™ system and Windows PC via Steam on May 30, 2025. The latest entry in the popular action-RPG and life-simulation series introduces players to the Eastern territory of Azuma, a land of Japanese-inspired visuals and unique twists on familiar gameplay elements from the Rune Factory franchise. Alongside the reveal of the release date, Marvelous USA announced an upcoming livestream that will happen on Jan. 22 at 8AM PT/11AM ET on their YouTube channel, where the company will be revealing additional information and showcasing further looks into the land of Azuma. youtube
Ravaged by the effects of the Celestial Collapse and the cessation of power provided by the runes, the eastern lands of Azuma are a shadow of their prosperous past. Weakened by corruptive forces, the gods of nature retreated from the world, leaving mountains to crumble and fields to wither. The people of Azuma seek aid against a blight that has swept these once-bountiful lands. One young hero enters into a contract with a dragon and sets out on a journey. “Accept the might of the Earth Dancer. Use this power to save the land.”
Guardians of Azuma takes players on an all-new adventure in the never-before-seen country of Azuma. Here, players will assume the role of an Earth Dancer destined to return hope—and life—to the once-thriving land. Choose from one of two protagonists whose fates are closely tied together, and experience reimagined and expanded Rune Factory gameplay; as an Earth Dancer, players will farm with grace, restore and build entire villages, and fight with new weapons like the Bow and Talismans. Azuma is a vast world to explore with majestic villages to uncover, each taking inspiration from Japanese culture and each with a seasonal theme. In addition to exploration, combat, and village-building, players will also cultivate relationships with the locals, recruiting them to your side in battle or to help manage the villages. Wield sacred treasures of the gods and the Earth Dancer’s power of dance to purify the land and return Azuma to its former glory. The adventure of a new world awaits.
Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Key Features:
Bold New Abilities and Weapons: As an Earth Dancer, use the power of dance, sacred treasures, and fresh weapons like the Bow and Talismans to purify the land, farm, and undo the Blight’s damage.
It Takes a Village: Don’t just mind the farm—rebuild entire villages! Construct and place buildings strategically to entice people to return to the villages and contribute. Revive the gods to bring vitality and valuable resources back to the plagued lands.
Your Fantasy Japanese Life: Experience beautiful Japanese-inspired character designs and aesthetics—from festivals to events to monsters. Explore Azuma’s natural landscapes and its seasonal-themed locales steeped in tradition.
Classic Romance and Relationships: Choose between male and female protagonists, then befriend or romance any of the eligible candidates—god and mortal alike—in fully voiced scenarios. Recruit these new friends to aid in dynamic battles, too!

Rune factory Guardians of Azuma
alrighty so this is gonna be a little lengthy because a lot was shown recently! however I'm typing on my tablet which is dying as I type and the sites won't load, forgive me for image sizes as I can't make them smaller.
first off, here's the new rune factory guardians of azuma trailer. accompanied with a release date of May 30, 2025. the game alone is 60$ USD while the limited edition is 100$ USD.
I'll get into characters in a minute, but we are seeing town building as well as being allowed to pick NPCs jobs (im assuming they're just store running NPCs with no storyline). and the trailer kind of gives pokemon graphics with genshin inspired mechanics. some mechanics also remind me of Pokemon legends Arceus. Keep in mind this is a sideline game, if I remember correctly they are working on 6, a mainline game. They are trying a totally new formula with this game and farming will still be included but not a main focus.
It seems there will be 2 romance routes locked behind dlc, and for the first time in a long time, the mcs will have their own distinctive personalities and the opposite of you pick will be romanceable.
Tumblr media
Story: The Celestial Collapse — a calamity caused by a colossal object crashing into the eastern lands known as Azuma. The devastating impact sent fragments of terrain to the skies above and the seas below. With the earth shattered, the power provided by the runes ceased to flow. The gods of nature vanished soon after. Mountains crumbled and fields withered, leaving the people with nothing…not even hope. You awaken, startled by a dream of dueling dragons. You don’t remember how or why, but a voice resonates within you. "Accept the power of an Earth Dancer. Use this power to save the land.” Thus begins your lengthy journey to restore the gods…
now for characters:
Subaru (male mc) and Kaguya (fem mc)
Tumblr media
Left his cold village in the northern part of Azuma on a mission to save the land. Childhood friends with Kaguya, who hails from the same hometown. Usually relaxed and easy-going. Enjoys gazing at the sky. While generally not a fan of battle, he has a strong sense of justice, and will fight fiercely to protect his friends and loved ones.
Tumblr media
Left her cold village in the northern part of Azuma on a mission to save the land. Childhood friends with Subaru, who hails from the same hometown. Loves being in nature, especially interacting with animals and observing flowers. Although usually calm, she despises evil and resents any acts of injustice.
Tumblr media
Woolby (mascot /sidekick)
The protagonist's loyal partner and guide. A bit of a braggart and a klutz. His gluttonous nature makes him susceptible to sweet bribes, especially dango.
Romance options, there are 16!
Tumblr media
Iroha
The owner of Iroha's Teahouse in Spring Village. A friendly, caring young woman who dreams of revitalizing Spring Village and returning it to its former glory.
Tumblr media
Murasame (they beefed him down in game sadly)
A samurai who wanders Azuma with the goal of becoming the world's greatest swordsman. Master of the Munen Muso sword style, which means "free from empty thoughts." Spends his days training and keeping his sword in good condition.
Tumblr media
Hina
A half-human, half-fox were-animal who arrives in Azuma on an airship with Mauro. Claims to be an archaeologist. Childhood events instilled her with a strong desire to help others.
Tumblr media
Mauro
A self-proclaimed treasure hunter from a foreign land who came to Azuma by airship in search of a legendary treasure. This sentimental soul is easily moved to tears.
Tumblr media
Ulalaka
Azuma's kind, gentle god of spring and merriment. Her benevolence knows no bounds, and she simply wants everyone to live happy, peaceful lives.
Tumblr media
Matsuri
Azuma's carefree god of summer and swords. Enjoys physical activities of all kinds. Despite being a master of the blade, she tends to solve problems with brute force instead.
Unfortunately I've hit the picture limit, so I'll have to make a part 2.

in full-tilt 'scream into pillow' mood tbh. I WANT TO WRITE FIC. I WANT.
after all the "fails" so far, the requirements i've managed to gather are:
sappy/devoted friends (to lovers/at least heavily flirtatious) with ample interactions in canon that say they just really enjoy each other, and i have to be able to very easily wax poetic about each of them
generally hopeful/upbeat/humorous tone but with some stakes
a setting that i wouldn't mind living in (comfortable and relatively safe) and allows for slice of life fun, but that is not purely mundane
a premise that could lend itself to au-ing enemies to lovers without needing to wildly change the setting (a bit of remixing/met the other guy first/for want of a nail at most)
also need to be able to write a/b/o and soulmates and make it Interesting both ways
neither half of the ship dies at the end
i just fuckin love reading/watching/playing it (which also means it needs to not be rinsed clean or overly Wholesome)
soul eater soma are too "old married couple" not enough pure enjoyment in each other
skip beat's setting is too mundane
tlt's main ship wasn't sappy enough
everything about jshk is just too fuckin depressing
okami's main character is a dog
none of the main bridgerton romances have any deep stakes or bountiful au potential
botw/totk zelink doesn't have enough interaction
dragon age's setting is too damn uncomfortable
ouat's depressing as hell to watch
vespertine isn't expansive enough a sandbox
spiderverse miles/gwen are too far apart on a regular basis for slice of life
the rune factory series doesn't have enough adversarial potential
trigun's setting looks horrible to be in
kaguya-sama's setting and plot don't lend themselves to the kind of fic i wanna write
bnha's not horny enough (only one character actually cares about fuckin and nobody likes him!!)
naruto isn't fun enough to watch/read
ditto bleach
please don't tell my parents i'm a supervillain's characters are too young
the golden trio of harry potter don't actually interest me all that much
the tales of series is too damn depressing
i don't want to live in any of the final fantasy worlds to my memory
i'm just... ???????? gotdamn this shouldn't be so hard

Rune Factory: Project Dragon - latest footage, details -
From Gematsu
Tumblr media
Following its initial announcement as Project Magia in May 2023, Marvelous has released new information and footage for Rune Factory: Project Dragon. Platforms and a release date remain unannounced.
Get the details below.
Following a brief history on the evolution of the Rune Factory series and how it has grown across nine titles released over 18 years, Rune Factory series director Shiro Maekawa joined the stream to reveal a new video for Rune Factory: Project Dragon sharing a look at the title’s protagonists. Players can choose to play as either Subaru or Kaguya, two new Earthmates with a twist; they will use the power of dance, rather than farming, to communicate and interact with the world around them. This new approach to interacting with the world comes with non-combat tools, including parasols and drums; series staple weapons like swords; and brand-new weapon types to experiment with, including bows and talismans.

Farmagia (formerly Project Magia): Product Manager Takehiro Ishida revealed the official title of the project, Farmagia, and presented the game’s opening animation, giving gamers an action-packed look at the cast of characters and powers they wield. Ishida-san also shared details on key characters in the game, designed by popular artist Hiro Mashima, including Ten, the protagonist who often acts before thinking; Arche, his childhood friend who balances both kindness and a competitive nature; Chica, another childhood friend with a more reserved demeanor; and Lookie-Loo, Ten’s sidekick and de-facto mascot. The title is planned for a global release in 2024.
STORY OF SEASONS: The next, as-yet-untitled entry in the beloved franchise continues its development as the team focuses on improvements to the visual presentation and natural environments. Series Manager Hikaru Nakano joined to debut a fresh look at the results of their efforts, highlighting how aspects such as updated natural lighting and festival fireworks have been improved to enhance immersion and atmosphere. The project remains in active development and will be fully revealed at a later date. In the meantime, Nakano-san confirmed new gameplay features including a player-controlled glider and the return of fan-favorite pets.
Amusement Section: Marvelous Inc. supports more than just PC and console entertainment and announced a number of new arcade initiatives including NARUTO: Arcade Battle, which will be available in North America this summer. Players will experience the world of NARUTO on a massive 50” screen, where they’ll engage in intense ninjutsu battles and collect plates to reach the highest rank they can! Arcade titles for Japan release only were also presented.
Indie Partner Lineup: The Marvelous family continues to invest in helping creative and exciting visions from smaller indie developers become a reality with global support for titles! Titles introduced for worldwide release include Bitsummit 2023 Grand Prize winner Death the Guitar, where players become an electric guitar fighting with the power of death metal to avenge their owner, planned for a 2025 release; and Moonlight Peaks, the supernatural-themed vampire farming/life sim title from Dutch developer Little Chicken, scheduled for 2026 release. One additional title, Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus, was also presented for release in Asia and Japan by Marvelous on July 28, 2024.
Rune Factory: Following a brief history on the evolution of the Rune Factory series and how it has grown across nine titles released over 18 years, Rune Factory series Director Shiro Maekawa joined the stream to reveal a new video for Rune Factory: PROJECT DRAGON sharing a look at the title’s protagonists.
DAEMON X MACHINA: Titanic Scion: First revealed during last year’s Marvelous Game Showcase, DAEMON X MACHINA: Titanic Scion once again closed out the show, where President Sato-san shared an evocative look at Marvelous’ First Studio’s mech-action sequel.  Additional details including platforms and a release window will be announced at a later date.
To celebrate the Showcase, select STORY OF SEASONS and Rune Factory titles will be on sale for up to 60% off on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch™ through June 7, 2024.
