My OUAT Rewatch -- S6E8 -- I’ll Be Your Mirror

That is seriously an excellent summary for this episode, which I have ZERO memory of, probably because a) I chose not to watch or b) it was so ridiculously stupid that I blocked it out of my brain.  And judging from my November 2016 blog it sounds like the latter.

Also, fun fact:  This is the first OUAT episode that aired after IQ45 was elected, so on top of THIS bullshit we also had THAT bullshit to deal with.  Good times!  

Sadly, no Emma game show today because her outfit wasn’t horrendous, but don’t worry, I’m certain it will return!

I have a lot of links under the cut and a lot to say but don’t know how to say it without just cursing up a storm, so I will probably rely on links.  Also Belle dragging is done this way for those not interested to skip over.

Oh yeah by the way, this was mostly a SWAN QUEEN centric and that part of this episode was LOVELY!  I’m sure it produced tons of SQ fanfic.  

So anyhow, that’s what drove me nuts about this episode -- the Swan Queen stuff -- the Henry stuff -- that was SO GOOD!!!!!  

Which is why I’m certain that that part of the episode was written by Leah Fong.  This was Leah Fong’s first episode BTW, and I always felt she had a good handle on Swan Queen and Rumbelle, which is why I’m certain that the rest of this shit was written by Jerome Schwartz, most likely with Eddy Kitsis whispering in his ear the entire time.  

Because aside from the Swan Queen/Swan Mills stuff -- this was just such utter horseshit.

Belle going to ZELENA for help, Belle fucking BLACKMAILING Aladdin (the HELL????), the Golden Queen nonsense, Rumple being an utter dickhead, and oh yeah . . . . this . .. . . . 

The YEAR OF SNOWING, yo!!!!  Yup, early on this season in an interview, Eddy Kitsis dubbed Season 6 to be “The Year of Snowing.”

He is such an ass.  But I already pointed out that by episode FOUR they had already OBVIOUSLY changed direction, so whatever.

But anyway -- DAMN, but Belle was a fucking bitch in this episode.  Screeching and screaming and yelling -- who in the hell IS this woman?  We don’t need Dark One Belle, we got THIS bitch!

And WTF with the OOC Rumple shit?  I mean why?  He’s NEVER been like this so WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL???

You know what guys -- if you’re going to do a total 180 on a character’s personality, make sure there’s a REASON for it, don’t just write it just cause.  Cause that’s BULLSHIT HACK writing.  

It was at this point in the series that I said I was bailing. I obviously didn’t because -- you know -- Bobby -- but lord, they didn’t make it easy.

Also there was a whole TWO WEEKS between this episode and the next one which I will DRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG when I watch, so there was plenty of time for me and others to post a bunch of shit.

Rumbelle Deer was awesome, and Rumbear, too. When new chapters of A Bed of Thorns were coming out at a steady rate and everyone on my dash was reblogging and commenting on them. And going crazy for ribbons, and posting pics of themselves in the ribbon aisle in fabric stores because Rumple loved to play with and collect Belle’s ribbons in the story!  REINDEER GAMES. And remembering how we started getting some newbies around season 3, who were making posts like ‘I feel shy about joining in, because everybody already seems to know each other’ and how that sparked the birth of the Thing, and being so proud of how we look out for newcomers and make sure they feel welcome and a part of things right away.  Delint and Marchie posting pics and reports from Comic Con, and getting called on to ask a question. How we would take the tiniest little thing (because that’s often all we got) and have so much fun with it. Like the “Happy Endgins” promo typo, which rumplegasm immortalised in this perfect picture: 

Speaking of which, the mass adoption of lizards as our fandom animal. Snail slippers. Smirking references to Rumple’s rather large estate. The way the smut went from fairly vanilla in the early days to embracing and exploring all types of kink. (Did someone say raptors?) The friendships made, the creativity, supporting each other both in the fandom and in real life. The moment when Rumple and Belle saw baby Gideon, and knew they were getting a second chance. So many great memories.

Guess what? That post was not sexist, nor slut-shaming, simply because the word “vagina” was used. (Please look up the term “slut-shaming” and find out what it actually means.) The word “vagina” was used to emphasize that many CS fans see Emma as a self-insert, so any woman, no matter who, would be acceptable alongside their love interest. 

I agree that it was properly tagged with “emma swan” and “jennifer morrison”.  However, it was a Rumbeller’s post. The post was NOT tagged with “cs” or “captain swan”. The tone of the whole thing which resulted was against the Captain Swan relationship, and a potential future relationship for Hook with another woman. 

Since it was a form of hijacking, being anti captain swan, the relationship of which Emma is a part, I’ll consider putting @rumbellethething‘s post on the blog.

My OUAT Rewatch -- S5E11 -- Swan Song

Me getting through this episode . . . . . . . 

So . . . . this is gonna be LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG.  I have time, I have opinions, and I’m not holding back.  Under the cut for length and just a heads up there WILL BE BELLE CRITICISM UNDER HERE.  When I get to that point I will strike out all of the Belle critical stuff like this.  It doesn’t mean I don’t MEAN IT -- I just want to give those who can’t handle Belle being dragged the opportunity to easily bypass that section.

Me AFTER I watched this episode, BTW . . . . . . 

So, honestly, as has been the case since this arc crap started, this is a rushed, sloppy, choppy, hacked up episode with a bunch of shit going on, it’s clearly a hot mess of shit, there are OBVIOUS deleted scenes we never saw and never WILL see, and I can totally understand why so many just flat out noped the fuck out of this show at this point.  Because it really is NOT enjoyable and frankly, even knowing what comes, it still makes me stabby.  

But I have to find a way of plodding through this here, so let’s do a point by point order of things, in no particular order:

1.  So Hook murdered his dad and left his little brother an orphan.  Whatta guy!  Honestly, here’s the thing -- all the anti-Rumple folk bitch about how many people he killed, and really I don’t think his body count is higher than Hook’s.  Rumple kills when he’s pissed off, and almost always in a heat of the moment thing (see: Milah, the dudes that used to bully him as a spinner, Tamara).  He doesn’t just go off killing to kill for thrills and funsies and murder trinkets.  Hook has admitted ON SCREEN to killing dozens -- and this was as a mortal with no dark curse whispering in his ear 24/7.  What’s HIS excuse?  

2.  OMG, Emma really just got completely destroyed at this point, didn’t she.  I found a VERY GOOD meta on the destruction of Emma Swan and why CS is such utter bullshit so I thought I’d share it here:

I want to point out specifically, on page 3, what she says about Rumple taking back the Dark One powers:

And then Emma heard all the Parseltongue and followed the sounds to the pawnshop and Rumple was like, "LOL okay you got me, I totally performed a quick spell that somehow cleaved apart the Excalibur and became the Dark One because eff everybody invested in my character. I essentially have a multiple-personality disorder and no one on the writing staff gave me the memo about not trying to convey a genuine struggle while I was playing Rumple these last three years." I'm sorry but this twist was so lazy it infuriated me. I can't believe that shit made it out of a first draft, let alone through studio and network notes.

Which, sadly . . . . . . brings me to Belle and Rumbelle.

So damn . . . . Belle really was kind of a bitch in this episode, huh?  I mean . . . . at the TIME I was happy for the hugs and kisses and sex but watching it again just . . . DAMN . . . . . 

Also, “For the first time ever you were selfless” GTFO of here!!!!!

For the first time EVER????  GTFO, what kind of shit writing is this???  How did Emilie even deliver that garbage fire of a line with a straight face, and how did Bobby even react to it without a lot of cursing?  Or maybe he did.  We do know that they wanted Rumbelle to bang on the bed in the shop and Bobby put his foot down on that one and they literally created a bedroom set for that 30 second scene because Bobby wasn’t gonna have them film the post-coital scene in the shop.  

So yay for Bobby?
