Martin’s initial concept was Gene: a smug little gremlin thing and resident nuisance. As early as his first redesign, he became a far less rascally force and was drawn to increasingly and vaguely resemble Dullsville as I/he appears IRL.

The jump to It’s Color Theory had Martin swap colors with Geneva and his personality dropped much of his initial goodwill to make him a more acerbic being, represented by a notched eyebrow, dark eyelids, and a less gangly design.

IMO there’s no way Dil Pickles in “All Grown Up!” wasn’t partly based on Pippi Longstocking. Or otherwise it’s one of the best coincidences ever. They both have red hair (but Dil gets it from his mom), they’re both nine years old, they’re both eccentric and say and do and believe the most random things and do everything their own way regardless of social norms, they were both colicky when they were babies, and they both have a habit of walking backwards.

This one time, I read an absolutely terrible "Fairly Odd Parents" creepypasta where Timmy was just hallucinating Wanda and Cosmo because his real life was so miserable that he was disassociating and he actually just had 2 dead fish floating in a tank and his friends were actually dead and his parents and Vicky were abusing him for wearing pink, and, you know, pretty standard "grimdark kids show" stuff that became popular in the years after Rugrats Theory came out; but it stuck in my mind because there was this one scene where Timmy's dad throws open the door and shouts "Time for your morning beating!" And I keep imagining that line with his characteristic delivery, like

"Tiiiime for your morning beating, son!"

It haunts me.
