Today’s anxiety-driven political post is about The Paris Agreement.

In 2015, 190+ individual parties (countries, and the EU) made a pledge to try and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prevent global temperatures from rising above 1.5°C, and try to prevent it from reaching a total increase of 2°C.

(For my fellow Imperial System users, a rise of 1.5°C = a rise of 2.7°F, and a rise of 2°C = a rise of 3.6°F)

It doesn’t seem like a lot and I think that’s part of why not a lot of people are taking it seriously. Thing is, it’s just going to keep getting worse, and scientists already believe that a mere global increase of 2°C / 3.6°F will cause a lot of problems. More frequent flooding, more wildfires, and the massive loss of delicately balanced ecosystems like the coral reefs are just a few of the nasty effects we’ll be seeing.

I mean, we’re already seeing some bad effects. Look at the UK, which is experiencing more heatwaves than they’re used to, and their current infrastructure isn’t developed for that kind of constant heat. Look at the United States, which is experiencing hotter summers and a decrease in snowfall. Look at Australia, and India, and China, and everywhere else.

And the current policies in play aren’t going to let us reach that goal by 2100, much less 2050. The pledges that have been made might get us closer, but aren’t quite enough either.

It’s only going to get worse from here. For the US, Trump’s already promised that he’ll withdraw from the Paris Agreement again upon his reelection.

I’d like to see this get reblogged and spread around more, maybe with people chiming in with resources and tips about what all of us can do to try and put more pressure on our governments to do better. I’m really not comfortable with the fact we’re globally staring down the barrel of a gun and there’s barely been any progress to try and resolve it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VERA RUBIN!

Born Vera Florence Cooper on July 23rd 1928, died in 2016.

Realized that spiral galaxies were rotating too quickly, and would have spun themselves apart at their previously observed masses. This was the first major evidence for “dark matter”, or in other words, matter that can only be observed by its gravity, not the way it interacts with light.

(Because a lot of astronomy is the study of light, dark matter is nearly invisible. Inconvenient.)

Made other galactic discoveries too, but nothing as groundbreaking.

Raised four children while also getting her PhD and working as a new scientist in a sexist field.

Never got a Nobel prize (boo) but she did get this observatory named after her…

(8.4 meter diameter! surveying the entire Southern sky! pretty neat. It’s not completely done yet.)

UGH there isn't a good one, it used to be "stakhemy" but almost no one used it and i think i'm the only one who comes up if you search it now lol. I don't think enough people ship it right now to have its own label but there are a few people who do great art of them. @mattewkanada definitely comes to mind, also @clown-on-gorkhon doing the lords work with this collection that is entirely in character afaic.

There's also some people shipping Stakh and Peter, which is very cool even if I don't personally dig it but @crybabimeiri has a bunch of gorgeous and fascinating art about the two characters that I think can be overlooked in a lot of fan meta so I'd check out their art too.

I have talked a few times about Psychological Operations or psyops on here, but I would like to point out a real world example of a PO Operation that was found out recently by the Department of Justice.

Before that though, If you would like to read more about the actual position of a PO soldier, you can look no further then the PO benefits page on the US Army special operations recruitment website (https://www.goarmysof.army.mil/PO/).

Personally I feel like many people still believe psyops to be some kind of conspiracy theory instead of a fairly standard military division in almost all modern militaries, anyways onto the example.

The US Department of Justice is going after (indicting) two RT (Russian state media) employees for committing fraud and violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act.

Basically they created a front "media" company in Tennessee, translated russian propaganda videos into english, then paid right-wing influencers to promote (reblog/retweet/talk about on streams) said videos.

Three of the named influencers that I could find were Tim Pool, Dave Rubin and Benny Johnson.

I honestly have no idea who these three are, but supposedly their platforms have millions of followers. Also, some of these influencers were paid up too $100,000 a week to promote their videos and messaging.

So to summarize, Russia setup a fake company to pay American influencers to repeat their lies so that their followers would interpret those lies as legitimate since their were coming from a source they trust.

When people talk about election interference this is what we are talking about.

$100K a week is insane money for most, I am sure many people would be hard pressed to not sell their soul for that much money. Many of the videos from this media company were lies about the Ukraine war, and looking into Tim Pool it seems he also has a very anti-Ukraine stance (Audio from one of this podcasts https://v.redd.it/41xgvuri0vmd1/DASH_AUDIO_128.mp4)

I generally do not talk about my job on here, but corporations used to pay me to run seminars to help train their employees on spotting these types of attacks--mainly targeted psyops attacks from nation states to hack into their company via end user interaction.

Or in layman's terms, to help companies protect themselves from Russian Ransomware Thieves and Chinese Intellectual Property/Information collectors. Both of these being extensions of the Psychological Operations military divisions of each country.

I am really not sure how to end this post other than I am just trying to show people how real it is that the militaries of the world are spending obscene amounts of money in trying to influence your opinions and day to day life via your internet consumption.

Surf responsibility, be very wary of anyone telling you not to vote and don't believe everything you see/hear on TikTok/youtube/twitter/Insta etc etc

Balkanika's Special Grapes Bundle

What Winery would be without a proper Vineyard, am I right?

This project includes 9 brand new types of Grapes that your Sim can take care of, and harvest. All grapes function as my indoor harvestables!

When you first buy the plant you'll see only the watering interaction and after some hours you'll be able to collect the first patch of grown produce. Afterwards the interaction will be available once a day.

Water the plant 1 a day.

Harvest grapes 1 a day.

Tagged as fruit

Toddlers can eat it

It can be eaten raw or cooked

Compatible with SCCO

Types of grapes:

Vinelines (you can place them next to each other and build a real vineyard with them). They come in two types - regular with three vines (note that they are high poly!), and single with only one vine.

Cabernet

Trellis (grow them vertically on a trellis, you can place them close to each other, maybe even on a wall to imitated that they are build on it)

Since my custom harvestables are not like the regular ones from the game, I let myself some frivolities.

When your Sim collect fruits, they will get basket with grapes, instead of single fruits, in their inventory.

From each pergola they can collect 4 baskets, each trellis 2 baskets, each vineline 3 baskets, and if it's a single vine - 1 basket.

1 basket contains 20 grape fruits.

Each type of grape has individual moodlet after consumed.

Grab fruits one by one from basket

First you'll see 'Check Basket' interaction, before the option to 'Grab Grape'

The baskets and the fruits both have fruit/ingredient tag and can be sold or used in cooking, if required any fruit

I also made Rail fence (see below gif), so you can build your perfect vineyard.

Known issue: Note that my harvestables don't use the code of the EA harvetables interactions, therefore you'll need to manually click on every single grape to be watered/harvested. It doesn't work like the regular gardening where your Sim will collect from all automatically.

OKAY HI HELLO ANOTHER WATCHER POST (which btw I am glad that they're not completely leaving YouTube and realized what a terrible idea that was but this ain't rlly about that)

I'm not gonna lie I dunked on Sara Rubin (Shane's wife) a lil on here since she was insanely out of touch by also being like "it's not that hard to pay artists for content you want" but hooolllyyyyy shit some people in the notes of her reblog are just...being sexist and that's it I think?

I saw one person say "Congratulations on ruining whatever chance your husband had at salvaging his business" (word for word)

Like okay she was being out of touch and insensitive but I don't think the partner of one of the ceos (as far as I am aware, I don't think she's apart of Watcher or had anything to do with the original bad decision) having a bad take on tumblr.com is enough to literally destroy the entire business.

Some of you are literally doing the joke of blaming the nearest woman to the situation instead of the men that ARE actually to blame.

Like okay since people are now being like "Stop being racist and treating Steven like the devil and the only one responsible for this", I guess we should ALSO be saying "Stop being sexist and treating Sara like the devil for...being married to Shane, trying to support his business and saying stupid and out of touch shit"

Hey I was really intrigued listening to you and Frankie talk about how 3D video games changed the way theme parks were designed. Where did you learn about it? I'd love to know more.

You know, the worst thing is this is an anecdote told to my Dad by an Imagineer- lemme poke his brain and see if it's been written up about anywhere/he read it somewhere, or if he's written about it.

But in the meantime, if you search up theme park GDC talks, you can find a lot of interesting lectures about the kindred relationships between parks and game design.

Funnily enough (and totally obliterating my point) there's a really good game studies writing covered on Game Studies Study Buddies that explores how Ren Faires are made/designed and how they are 3D spaces to roleplay in (I believe it's Rachel Lee Rubin's 'Well Met', episode 55 of the podcast) . I'll reblog this if I can get a more concrete source on the quote, though.
