I forget if you’ve answered this or not, but does Prolo Village replace Lurelin Village? In my brain it always has because of the absolutely fascinating and tragic implications, but then I realized I didn’t actually know if that was true, so I checked and they’re in different locations, but both of them are based on outset island (even having structures similar to Aryll’s lookout)

No worries!! I don't know if I explicitly said "it's not Lurelin" or not, so let me do that here!! Prolo and Lurelin are two very different villages. I based the houses quite a bit on Lurelin's because I need something to reference, but they're two different villages.

I've posed this image before, but here it is again!! (Ignore how close I am to dying in this screenshot, there was a Talus.) It's not the greatest sketch explaining how the village looks, but it worked for me.

(Speaking of which, maybe it's because I've yet to do this for Saihoku that I'm having such a hard time writing the next chapter. I now know what I need to do today lmao.)

So they're quite far from each other! They've got the whole Necluda Sea between them. I'm sure the probably trade with one another, but yeah, different villages.

chache- our chache, 39, and every chache before that- were very firmly told that 1 was dead (he was frequently made an example of as a matter of fact)

chache and snake weren't aware of the aliens plans before the race to the moon ending, and once theyd learned it was the classic theyd grown so attached they rebelled against their creators

this twin brother has. three whole children, two of which are traumatized and adopted unintentionally and the other is probably traumatized and adopted intentionally

stampy is a great-uncle and has a dragon grandniece and at least one robot grandnephew and i will not be elaborating (.....yet)

snake is supposed to be a creeper. something went wrong when the aliens were synthesizing but supposedly theyve since fixed it

stampy is like an 8th warden on his mother's side. usually this manifests in what he likes to call the Lay in Moss Instinct (it's exactly what it sounds like) and protectiveness over his friends

he was a normal dude at first i think but then he got cursed with furry immortality and it's been so long now that he really doesnt remember who he used to be. netty got cursed trying to reverse his curse before they decided they liked being cats better

AGAIN THEY ARE LOOKING FOR BETWEEN 4 - 6 (possibly up to 8) DIFFERENT MUSIC TRACKS TO LICENSE FOR UP TO 1-YEAR WITH OPTIONS FOR RENEWAL, FOR BOTH NORTH AMERICA AND OPTIONS FOR GLOBAL / WORLDWIDE USAGE. I've been thinking about the Gaskell storyline some more, and it occurred to me that I think its problem - well, one of its many, many problems - is that it refuses to quite fully embrace Henrik as an antagonist, at least until RTTM.

When one considers Henrik's position in the story, he very clearly is an antagonist in it. Not the main antagonist - that, of course, is John himself - but he is one nonetheless. He is essentially aiding and abetting John for the majority of the story, particularly its last few months. I won't pretend he knew everything John was doing, but it's not as though he was totally unaware that there were flaws in John's ethics. Henrik wasn't an innocent, manipulated victim, he was an enabler.

Several other characters openly questioned John's trial, Roxanna in particular repeatedly coming to Henrik to discuss the problems. And even when Henrik at all considered listening to them - which he didn't always do - he ultimately went back to taking John's side. "Keep Your Friends Close" comes to mind as a great example of this: even before John starts trying to convince Henrik that Roxanna is mentally ill so that Henrik won't listen to her, Henrik makes up his mind that John is in the right.

Undeniably, it's also worth mentioning that most of the people who prominently questioned John's trial were women - such as Roxanna, Meena, and Jac. There were men who questioned it too, like Sacha and Ric, but for most of the storyline it's women who are trying to blow the whistle on John's work so to speak.

So the storyline is ultimately one about Henrik dismissing and not listening to women - which makes sense and ties back closely to things like the Sahira storyline in S13 and S14.

Except the show, it seems, didn't quite have the courage to consistently paint Henrik as an antagonist throughout all of this, unlike how it had throughout the Sahira story. So it also gave us things like the "Henrik is in love with Roxanna, isn't it cute" scenes, which IMO do not fit with the rest of the story at all and perhaps even lessen the impact of how badly he treats Roxanna. Even if Henrik having romantic feelings for her had to be an element of the story, which I don't think it did, I don't like how it seems to be painted as "cute" for much of the storyline, considering how he treats her. It feels like "oh, well, he does love Roxanna so maybe he's not so bad". He was in love with Sahira too and that wasn't treated as cute.

I don't think Henrik has to be doing unsympathetic things in every scene he's in to be recognised by the show as an antagonistic figure rather than a hero. He wasn't unsympathetic in every scene at the time of the Sahira storyline. John himself wasn't unsympathetic in every scene during his storyline, and was still very much depicted as a bad person. But I do think there is a fine line, and, unfortunately, I feel that Holby crossed it. It feels like the show didn't quite know how to handle Henrik as an antagonist anymore after years of him being more of an antihero - and I say that as someone who likes Henrik as an antihero, S15 is my favourite for him for a reason.

So although the Gaskell storyline has some great commentary in it when one looks deeper, it doesn't show up on the surface level - when I think it should have done, given what an essential aspect of the storyline it is. It should be, at its centre, very openly a story about the consequences of men not taking women seriously. It fails to be that, and thus easily comes across as "a generic evil scientist story" when it is anything but. Well, even worse than that, the main part of the story that ends up being emphasised instead is "John is evil because he's mentally ill", an ableist trope the show had no reason to use.

None of this is helped by how, after the storyline ends, Henrik faces basically no consequences - he even got to run the hospital again, which was encouraged by other characters, despite him being the very person who let everything with John happen.

I didn't mean for this to get as long as it has, lol, but I suppose I still have so many thoughts about the Gaskell story. One thing I will say in praise of it, after all of this, is that I appreciate that it manages to be a story where Henrik's romantic love for another man is part of his downfall without implying anything homophobic through it. That, at least, was well done.
