Another website is Zenni, my husband got his glasses, a blue light filter coating, and a clip on 3D lens for like $45. What you are really paying for are the fucking frames. The prescription itself is like $10, you can even get that bitch at Walmart.

The frames are more often than not are designer brand frames and they're expensive for no fucking reason. My glasses that I've had for over 10 goddamn years were like nearly $200, and those were the cheapest ones I could find since I was still a minor and my parents had to buy them. We were barely able to afford those.

That's also partially the reason why I haven't gotten new glasses yet. Until I worked my first job and my boss told us about Zenni since half his workforce wears glasses (we were a very small company, a group of basically 5 people) and oh my god I could get fun glasses for like $20. The same price I would pay for fun glasses at like Claire's or some shit.

It really fucking grinds my gears when people say glasses aren't a disability because it very much is. It's actually quite difficult to "fix" when the options are either $200-$500 frames from the optometrist or expensive ass laser surgery. Because unless you get either of those you cannot fucking see.

I legally can not drive without them. Which would mean if I ever lost or broke them, I can not go to work. I can not do laundry. I can not take my dad to his appointments. I can not do small favors for my family. I can't do shit all without them. I probably can't even go for a walk since I can barely see things close to me, let alone far away.

Just because my disability is more "common" doesn't mean it isn't a disability. It just means more of us are being born with fucked up eyes. Which is still a disability.

Made the mistake of bringing up that needing glasses is a disability on tiktok and people got real mad.

“You can fix it with glasses” yeah, cuz they’re a disability aid? But like, I still have to pay 160 bucks to use my own fucking eyes?

Like, by definition, if your eyes do not work without aid, you have a disability to see.

Having a disability doesn’t automatically put you in what people consider the “disabled” category, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is in fact, a disability.
