ORIGINAL WORK (aka RPG maker XP games)
Both games I've worked on are free, no combat, and take about an hour or less to complete! They are also both unfortunately Windows only.
seaglass: Eliot has never met their best friend, Loren, in person before. They have communicated for years by tossing bottles with messages in them back and forth across the sea. Now Loren is finally coming to visit, and Eliot wants to celebrate the occasion with a suitable gift - a sea glass necklace! This game I made by myself, and it's pretty old but I still like it.
Inn Need: The once marvelous Silver Willow Inn has fallen into disrepair over the years. Older witch and new owner Hestia Kindlee is determined to fix that, though. Explore the old inn, fix what you can, find help for what you can't, and restore the inn to its former glory. This game was made in collaboration with TeiRaven and Ji Tealeaf!
AVEYOND FANWORK
there is no better way to celebrate my birthday than to watch my te'ijalahad supercut. an hour and a half of (almost) every te'ijal and galahad scene in the series (i'll be uploading an actually complete one once i've finished my av3 replay, just to make sure nothing else snuck past me.

PC Starfield Tweaking Guide — Mods and Tweaks
After receiving positive reviews, Bethesda Game Studios’ new RPG debuted on Steam with 245K concurrent users today, including owners of the $100 Starfield Premium Edition until September 6th.
BGS games have always inspired PC modders, and Starfield is no exception. Even though the official modding tools won’t be published for a few months, the community has come up with several changes and proto-mods to improve the experience. We’ve included the most significant community improvements below.
performance
Starfield doesn’t stutter like other current PC games, but its nature makes it hefty. Thus, performance optimisation should be sought wherever possible.
We haven’t verified reports that manually activating Resizable BAR for NVIDIA GeForce GPUs improves performance. This is the overall method if you want to attempt.
Bulwarkhd created a Performance Texture Pack to reduce VRAM usage by lowering the typical texture resolution from 2K to 1K or even 0.5K for those with a configuration near the minimal requirements.
In a recent post, Nexus Mods user Erok posted optimised graphic preset.ini files for Low, Medium, High, and Ultra to boost PC frames.
Starfield’s visuals are enhanced by Bethesda’s newest Creation Engine, which the makers claim is the most advanced technology in their game. The most notable changes from Bethesda games are the animations and Global Illumination lighting.
Visuals
There are methods to improve the visuals even at this early stage of its public release. Many players noted the yellow/green tinge and high black levels first. Both may be part of the developer’s creative vision, but the gamma cannot be changed in-game.
The settings usually darken evenings. Depending on the ReShade setting, performance may drop by 5% or 10%. You may always use the ReShade option to deactivate shaders unrelated to colour fixes if you like.
Epiphany Absolute is developing the first Starfield HD Texture Pack mod. The author revealed that AI upscalers are doubling texture resolution from 2K to 4K. Of course, this effort is ongoing. Currently available upscaled textures: Aquatic, bladed, flowers, forest, rocks.
Epiphany Absolute posted another ship HD Texture Pack mod a few hours ago. The installation is identical. Remember that only Discovery, Hopetech, Pirate, Ship Common, and Starborn have been revised.
Gameplay
While playing Starfield, I realised that stealth is more harder than in prior Bethesda games. The devs may have overtuned NPCs”senses’
Thanks to two modifications, they may be adjusted. Zzyxzz’s ���Better Out of Line of Sight Sneaking’ reduces foes’ hearing accuracy when you’re hiding behind obstructions. According to the creator, the game’s default setting is 0.4, but the mod lowers it to 0.33 like earlier BGS games.
Also, transfer SneakSoundLosMult.txt from the mod to the Starfield folder.
Gameplay Tweaks and Fixes by Ixion XVII reduces NPC view cone detection (from 190 to 170) and opponent visibility in exteriors (by 5%) in Starfield.
It functions similarly to the previous mod. StarfieldCustom.ini’s [General] section needs the following command:
Zzyxzz, who made the first mod in this area, also released a Less Spongy Enemies mod that decreases NPCs’ health gain when they level up. The default amount is 20, but this mod may change it to 15, 10, 5, or 0.
Quality of Life
Starfield, like other BGS games, is complicated. Sometimes that shows in the User Interface or other ways the game may be more accessible or responsive. Quality-of-life changes will aim to solve it.
First, how to enter the game faster. The ‘Undelayed Launching’ mod by Seb263 skips the Bethesda logo and health warning messages by tweaking StarfieldCustom.ini and adding a new file.
Increase the spaceship’s Field of View optionally. Again, adjust the value to your liking.
Want a more immersive interface? You need franchfroise’s ‘Immersive Tactical Hud’ mod. It eliminates opponent health bars, names, hip-fire crosshairs, compresses crosshairs and the level-up indication, changes the experience bar, and improves hit marks and crit notifications. Installation is same to above.
However, Stentorious’ Simple Compact Inventory adds 12 displayed items and an optional file to organise goods by Value:Mass ratio.
TomLikesGuitar added this option and a beneficial Value:Weight ratio sorting mod.
In both circumstances, extract the Data files into the main Starfield folder and check StarfieldCustom.ini:
Last but not least, McGuffin’s IconSortingTags adds additional icons to Starfield’s inventory and loot window to help players see what they have. Same installation process as above.

because the other versions are also on sale, here's a quick "what do I buy" guide
RPG Maker MZ: if you didn't buy MV, consider this one. it's helpful to remember that rpgmaker releases tend to release in similar iterative versions, barring a few exceptions, so you don't need to buy every new release
RPG Maker MV: see above. comparable to MZ if you want something cheaper
RPG Maker VX Ace: this is fine, but MV isn't that much more expensive and is the better release of the two, so there's no reason to buy it unless you're collecting
RPG Maker VX: do not buy this one unless you're collecting these. this is what I'd consider to be the worst of the modern rpgmakers, and because it's more or less (significantly) worse VX Ace, there's no compelling reason not to just grab something else
RPG Maker XP: it's free and I think it's pretty. go ahead.
RPG Maker 2k(3): these are the retro ones. if you want to work with older software and enjoy those limitations, it's hard to say that the price isn't right for these. I like them a lot, personally
other 'makers from the same publisher:
Visual Novel Maker: do not buy this. there's no compelling reason to own this when renpy exists, and even if you're allergic to renpy, tyranobuilder is available at a very similar pricepoint
Pixel Game Maker MV: probably don't buy this. I tack on the "probably" because it's kinda just an editor in the style of the original Game Maker, but I guess it's cheap enough to maybe give some pause
rpgmaker xp is free on steam right now. go pick it up if you have any interest at all, especially if you don't own any other rpgmakers, because it includes a perpetual commercial licence
also you can make pokemon fangames with it, if that's your thing

Long time no post!
Lately I've been obsessed with Yume 2kki and it inspired me to finally get into rpgmaker2k. There's this field next to a cemetery that I love to visit so I'm working on a map inspired by it. It's a really special place but I can never share it with anyone because it's so hard to get to.
This is my first time making a map so if anyone sees this and would like to share tips or guides please do! Events, controls, and variables are still very confusing.
Making a full game seems really daunting so I don't have any plans to start an entire project. If this map turns out playable I might post it to itch.io though! I'm still figuring out how to design props for maps so I'd want to redraw and omit some of this stuff too. I really struggle with organizing and committing to complex projects so it's been really nice to get a feel for map-making in a low pressure way!

The Stairway
Hello, and welcome to “RPG Maker One-Hour Game Review #4,” where I’m exploring The Stairway, a visual novel by quiesphere.

Background: I’m a sucker for monochrome. I’m also a sucker for games that take place in internal worlds and dreamscapes. The Stairway is my Kryptonite.

Overview: In The Stairway, you play as Stella, a young woman who thinks her friend just ditched her at a party; so she climbs a staircase into a mysterious world, and this leads her to the person she’s looking for.

Immersion: The music in this game is gently captivating. It matches perfectly with the game’s aesthetic: Alice-in-Wonderlandesque brightness compare-contrasted with nighttime mellowness. Different theme songs match the color schemes, and these themes reoccur in a variety of styles, so that an auditory narrative grows.
The NPCs are also loveable. Their weirdness pulls you in, and their strange, butterfly-effected requests propel you towards Stella’s final destination. 
Combine these elements together, and The Stairway is an authentic and compelling story, not to mention it’s free.

Takeaway: This is my favorite RPG Maker game so far! While I’ve enjoyed the other games I’ve reviewed, I felt shifted by the story of The Stairway. The ending creates a poignant burst of feelings that makes your soul snap in the right direction, like you’ve just gone to an emotional chiropractor. 
When I go back to Imaginary Friends, Ara Fell, and Wayfarers, I imagine their endings will touch me, too, as all good stories do. They had fantastic beginnings. I just need to play them to end-game.

Which is where I come to the neatest part: 
The Stairway is a short game—so it delivers its intense story in a one-hour night—kind of like reading a favorite short story. For me, it’s like reading Weir’s “The Egg.” And I’m inspired. If I like writing short stories, maybe I’d like making short games, too.
I’d recommend carving a night to experience Stella’s whimsical journey yourself.

If your game is made in RPG Maker 2000/2003 then there is a 100% chance it’s going to catch my eye more since I grew up with those and have an intimate understanding, appreciation and respect for the work that goes into them!

RPG Maker: Recommended Version.
Out of all of the versions of RPG Maker, I still think MV is the best. MZ is getting regular updates however, and that's good., though, I'd still recommend waiting for a sale to get it.
VXAce is pretty good still, even if only for the script being easier to edit. But it has some clunkyness to it that was fixed in MV through QOL features (Being able to zoom in/out with Ctrl + Mouse Wheel instead of 4 static Zoom Levels)
However, out of the versions I have, I absolutely cannot recommend 2k, 2k3, XP, or the 3DS version called FES, and luckily I don't even have to go into great detail because it's all for the same reason: You can't customize damage formulas in any of those versions, which is really bad. I hope I don't have to elaborate on why that is.
Recap: MV is the best currently, but MZ and VXAce are also good. But I don't recommend 2k, 2k3, XP, or FES regardless of how cheap you can find them.

2020 Wrap Up
It’s officially 2021 here in the Central Time Zone! That means I can do a bit of a 2020 wrap up for Trash Planet. A lot of stuff happened in 2020 in the world of Trash Planet, obviously. Here are the highlights:
1. Released the game in Early September 2. Released a patch for the game in Early December 3. Did a couple interviews about the game, both of which are on youtube I believe 4. Trash Planet was featured in THIS BUNDLE which went very, very well.  5. Some youtube love, including a full playthrough of the original September drop from RPG Maker / VN let’s player Flareblitzed. 
All in all, with the sales from the bundle and downloads from Itchio, RpgMaker Net, and Game Jolt, the game amassed 681 downloads. I really wanted to hit 1k this year, but I think 2k by this time in early 2022 is a very reasonable goal.
If you want a look into the financials, with the direct purchases + bundle sales, I’ve made a gross of $531 on the game. Now, I also commissioned some art for the end of the game, as well as promotional art (some of which is still upcoming), and spent money on advertising, so I think at the end of the day I either broke even in what I spent on the game out of pocket or maybe made a little bit of money. 
As for what the future holds... I’ve written a new game. The story, characters, and a fair amount of the dialogue are written. I used a similar TTRPG writing style for this, with the same playgroup that I wrote the Trash Planet TTRPG with. I’ll announce the new game formally a while from now, probably late 2021. I want something to show for the game before I formally announce it. 
That being said, if you’re really curious, the announcement of the next game AND the next game’s villain are hidden in the Trash Planet update somewhere. Can you find them? 
2020 was really bad all around, but, it was actually pretty decent for Trash Planet / my game development stuff. Especially the bundle that the game was in. Here’s to more growth in 2021~~~

a resolution problem that needs resolving
Trying to go back to working on shroom soup and I have encountered an interesting (annoying) issue. My new laptop has a higher screen resolution than the old one, which was supposed to be a good thing... Except for RPG Maker, because everything looks either tiny (by default) or blurry (after messing with every possible resolution/scaling setting in the program preferences).

It’s not unworkable, but it looks less good and I’m upset, because I like my sharp pixels :< I am also concerned about how the game will look for players with high-resolution monitors. It always looked fine to me before so I had no idea this could be such a problem.
My pixel art and drawing programs also look a bit different now, which might take some getting used to.
Given this and the general ancient-ness of r2k, I think I will finish shroom soup and then not make any more 2k games after that. It has a good aesthetic, but is getting increasingly less compatible with modern systems.
If anyone has any solutions, please let me know.
