Yasammy Week ~ Day 4: Engagement/Wedding

When Ben Pincus started to cheer loudly, as if he were at a football game instead of a wedding and a touchdown had been made, Sammy and Yaz almost jumped out of their skin. Glancing around, their friends appeared to be just as startled, but they jumped right in to applaud as well. After wiping the tears from her eyes, Sammy gave Yaz a big smile, which she had to return.

They interlocked their fingers; time seemed to be moving slow as they took everything in, looking between their friends and their families, and then at each other. They’d join the others at the Reception, then go through the long winded process of moving Yaz’s belongings to the Gutierrez Farmhouse; and finally, they’d face whatever came next;

Gosh, this drawing took me what? 19 hours? Most of it was spent on getting the Nublar 4 down there to look like they were actually sitting on a pew (Darius still looks funky to me).

Did you know red wedding dresses symbolize celebration and good fortune? :3 This takes place, like, post Chaos Theory, so technically their future-future looks are up to debate still. I actually referenced both Sammy and Yaz’s concept art for their hairstyles, we were robbed of Butch Sammy/j.

I assume that the people saying that Long Face is “objectively not a good song” are just missing a lot of musical context. Simple lyrics don’t make a rock song good or bad. Subjectively, I don’t care for your Hozier or your Chappel Roan. I’m not saying they’re objectively bad. It’s a genre thing and a familiarity thing. Long Face demonstrates a clear understanding of ✨genre✨ to me in the elements of T Rex, Brian Eno, Iggy Pop, etc. that can be picked out easily if you’re familiar. They have alluded to the fact that they’ll be crossing genres in s3 and I am excited to see that follow through. Lestat has shown, since s1 when he sat down at Jelly Roll Morton’s keys, that he has a fundamental understanding of genre. That was not shown to us for no reason.

Also, like, he’s a vampire. If he wanted complex and poetic lyrics, he’d have done that. If he wanted to pick up any instrument and give the contemporary masters of it a run for their money, he could do that. If he wanted to grab a pair of drumsticks and be the next Neil Peart while full-throat singing à la Peter Rivera or Buddy Miles, he’d ~DO THAT.~
