So for this chapter, I’m switching it up a bit. I’m splitting into three different character perspectives to kind of broaden the scope of the story.

Let me clarify that while some chapters will be focused on individual characters (each character will have a few chapters that are purely theirs) but in order to be able to tell the story from all necessary angles, sometimes the perspective will change mid chapter. It all depends on what I want to explore and accomplish in that specific chapter.

Abandoned and exhausted, the group has no choice but to return to the park, facing several obstacles along the way.

Currently Reading: SMUT! *snort* I used to care a lot about what I read, trying to stick to 'good literature' and the classics and all, but I'm now at a stage of my life where I stoped giving a f*ck and now I read what the hell I feel like. Judgment be damned. So I'm going through the ACOTAR series, devouring them like a madwoman. I have Edgar Allan Poe's short stories giving me the stink eye from my nightstand, and I might use him as a palate cleanser after!

Last Song: Oh, I've been cranking the Imperfect soundtrack I created on Spotify to get me in the mood for the next chapter, and the last one that played was, curiously enough, Imperfect by Stone Sour. I can't get enough of Corey Taylor, that man is a God!

Last Film: I barely watch any TV. I read and write in my spare time, so the last movie I saw was in the movie theatre and I took my son, so we got to see the live action of Lilo & Stitch! I enjoyed it a lot! 🥰

Sweet/Salty/Sour: All of them???? I mean... I can't choose! I have a very sweet tooth, but I love sour things... and salty snacks? UGH! Why are you doing this to me??? Gun to the head: sweet!

Working On: Too many things at the same time, actually 😆 I'm working on Imperfect, Kid's Meet-Cute and I'm also throwing a few paragraphs for chapter 2 of All of Yourself, as well as trying to plan and write a very challenging longfic for my main account with ships like: SaNami, LawBin, Ace&Vivi and ZoTash.

Darius:

his family is Christian, specifically Pentecostal

Darius grew up going to church on sundays and doing sunday school

luckily he had a very good, accepting and loving church

he also loved the services with all the singing and liveliness

the church community actually really helped out him and his family when his dad died. old ladies from church were bringing them round pots of home–cooked food. people started a fundraiser to help them with the medical bills. the priest asked people to pray for the Bowmans when they first heard the news

his faith has wavered several times (his dad’s death, everything on nublar, Brooklynn ‘dying’) but he’s always regained that connection even if it took some time. his religion is very important to him

Brooklynn:

was never and probably never will be religious

HOWEVER she does have a good basis of knowledge on the biggest religions from all her vlogs

“Brooklynn unboxes mormonism” and she almost joins a cult by accident

experimented with crystals/witchcraft at some point in her teenage years but it wasn’t for her

when she’s older she’ll go to church with Darius if he wants company

loves listening to the bible stories, especially about Jesus. she’ll let Darius talk her ear off about really deep spiritual/philosophical concepts, and she loves it

does feel a bit spiritual sometimes, but doesn’t believe in a God or any higher powers

Yaz:

her mother is Muslim, loosely practising

Yaz herself isn’t religious but she knows a lot about Islamic beliefs and practises

her mother taught Yaz a couple of prayers in Arabic when she was younger and Yaz never forgot them. sometimes she recites them to help herself calm down even when she’s an adult

after nublar, she starts exploring her own faith and spirituality and starts learning more about different faiths, but nothing really stuck for her

she was however very intrigued by the Gothic–ness of Catholicism, and her and Sammy talked a lot about that

in the end, she decides to just Wing It and do what feels right for her to connect with her spirituality

Sammy:

her family is Christian, specifically Catholic

used to go to a small, rural church in Texas, which was pretty conservative politically, but stopped going after nublar

so Sammy lost touch with her religion and didn’t explore her faith and spirituality until her early 20s (after chaos theory)

goes on a long journey of unlearning before she’s ready to go back to church

Darius, having always had a good, affirming church, really helped Sammy reconcile her links between trauma (both from the church and other stuff) and faith

finds a much better and more accepting and affirming church that she loves going to

eventually becomes a very active church member. her and Yaz help out with sunday school when they’re not too busy with work. they serve tea and biscuits after the services. she helps out with the choir

she’d also love the gospel hymn stuff at Darius’s church

Kenji:

his mother believed in and practised shintoism

he has a small torii statue he keeps on his desk to honour that part of her

he went to a couple of church services as a kid out of curiosity, but they were at a traditional church and he found them sooo boring (genuinely no hate to anyone who does go to/enjoy traditional church services!)

when he started living with the Bowmans, they offered for him to go to church with them, and he initially wasn’t sure but gave it a go, and actually loved the atmosphere

he was blown away by the fact everyone was standing up and singing and seeming to actually have a good time

when he went, he felt a little spiritual, but he never really bothered to explore that side of him further, so he describes himself as agnostic

he also goes to Sammy’s Catholic church when he’s an adult, and really likes all the depictions of Mary. he has a special connection to her that he can’t explain. she comforts him. he has a small picture of her on a picture frame on his desk

he still goes to that church with the Bowmans for Christmas and Easter though

barely knows anything about other religions, so he asks the camp fam for info and they all have some really great and interesting discussions on religion and spirituality and faith

Ben:

his mother is Jewish, but she stopped practising when she married Ben’s father (who is not Jewish) (and also a piece of shit)

when she divorced him, she picked up practising Judaism again, and raised Ben Jewish

he ate kosher, he observed Shabbat every friday, and he and his mum celebrated Passover, Hanukkah, and other Jewish holidays

he had a bar mitzvah, even if it was a very small gathering (his anxiety around crowds and germs and stuff was pretty bad at the time)

he even (tried to) kept kosher on nublar because he knew his mum would want him to

however, he never felt connected to an actual God

he still loosely practises Judaism, because it’s his culture and heritage and he’s proud of it

Gia:

raised Christian Catholic (Italy is a strong Catholic majority country iirc)

but stopped believing in God/higher power etc when she was a teenager

is now comfortably atheist/agnostic

Dave and Roxie:

Dave was raised Mormon but broke away from the church and isn’t religious anymore

uhhh ok so this is gonna be hard because I really REALLY love each and every one of them BUT i am currently fearing for my life so here we go I suppose

1. Brooklynn

Say what you want about her, but she 👏 gets 👏 shit 👏 done! I really admire that despite the shadiness of some of her actions and her dubious morality, she does everything for reason. She may be impulsive and may not always make the most responsible decisions, but god damn it, if anyone in the N6 would move heaven and earth to save their friends, it would be Brooklynn. She is cunning, resourceful, and if something needs to get done you bet your ass that she will be the one to accomplish it! (Also, totally not contributing to this ranking at all; she is SO aromantic.)

2. Darius

This boy is my son. Genuinely. Oh my god I love him so much, he literally has a heart of gold. GOD every time i watch Camp Cretaceous and he shows up on my screen I just want to squeeze his little cheeks and hold him because HE’S JUST A BABY!!! He’s also the glue that keeps the group from falling apart, especially in the early episodes of Camp Cretaceous. Without Darius, those kids would have been goners. However, this sweet boy is just too trusting, and that doesn’t always end well for him or his friends.

3. Yasmina

The queen of RBF! I relate to her so much, an introverted artist who has a hard time trusting others? I’m looking in the mirror and Yaz is looking back at me. I really liked watching her grow to trust the other N6 members, and I thought her PTSD plotline was incredibly compelling. Her deadpan sass makes her one of the funniest characters in the bunch! Genuinely I don’t have anything negative to say about her!

4. Ben

Also my son. My slightly insane feral son, but my son nonetheless! I fucking LOVED his wilderness arc, I absolutely loved watching him adapt to his surroundings and go a little crazy in isolation. His development was so engaging, possibly the most interesting and fun to watch out of all of the N6. I will say that I’m not as big of a fan of him in Chaos Theory, simply because I feel like he isn’t as interesting. I think the paranoia makes a lot of sense for his character, but I wish he retained some more of his feral tendencies and was just a little more unhinged. Those are the aspects of his character that I always found the most compelling, and it’s a shame that they didn’t carry over to the sequel series.

5. Sammy

Oh my daughter! I love her so freaking much y’all. She’s similar to Darius in that she wears her heart on her sleeve and is just a little too trusting, and oh my god she absolutely breaks my heart in Chaos Theory. I wish we could have learned a bit more about her in Camp Cretaceous, because aside from being blackmailed by Manta Corp she doesn’t have a whole lot of backstory or angst material. That’s just a personal gripe though, because in Chaos Theory I think she is a lot more interesting and OUGH she makes me so sad! I just want to give her a big hug!

6. Kenji

I’m saying this as someone who LOVES kenji; holy fuck he is childish. Sorry but his crashouts at Darius were not justified in the slightest. He blames people for situations that were completely unavoidable and he holds grudges for astronomical periods of time. HOWEVER, I can’t deny that he is funny as fuck. He has some of the most memorable one-liners and his comedic relief moments are perfect for breaking the tension in certain scenes. Also, he is THE rage baiter of the group. His dialogue is VERY fun to write!

now let me just say that I absolutely adore each and every one of these characters, and I really can’t choose a favorite. These are just the rankings I would give if I were being held at gunpoint, because otherwise they would all be on the same tier.

Pink Jackets and Yellow Headbands chapter 3 - TEASER!!!!

Ben finds her. Or rather, he finds flashes of pink sticking out like a sore thumb against the brown–green wash of the wilderness. But he knows it's Brooklynn. What else would be that dizzyingly vibrant on this barren, nowhere island? A gasp grates through his throat, and he drags his aching, throbbing body closer. Every step hurts, but at least now, his steps have purpose; he's been wandering through the trees for ages, but they’re so tightly packed together, he seems to make more wrong turns than right ones.

He barely remembers what happened; just that he was thrown about, hitting branch after branch, rolled several times, and eventually scudded to a stop on the forest floor, jammed against a log with his left fingers bent against it. The impact of the crash, though not as bad as the initially incapacitating feeling it was, still makes his body pound in protest to every movement. He can’t bend or straighten his left fingers, and his bruised legs shake painfully.

The pain builds and builds, so he tries to focus his mind elsewhere. He can see... nothing but trees, honestly. He can hear screaming, but not enough to decipher anything informative. Not enough to know who in his family are alive. Not enough to quell the rising terror inside him.

And now, as he comes closer, he realises the pink is marred with red. Blood red.

Homeless Fundraiser

Another month, another crises. Thus is life. *sigh*

As some of you know by now, I'm a disabled enby who is the sole caregiver for my elderly disabled mother and we have been Homeless for a year. I've got us in a Hotel because it's the safest option we have. Her SSI is our only stable income and it only goes so far.

Right now we have the room paid for until Tuesday.

Mom should have gotten her SSI this week but with everything else going on we didnt realize her debit card was going to expire last month and apparently they automatically sent out a new card to our old address but it got returned. obviously.

We arranged for another new card to be sent to a reliable mailing address but until it does we dont have any money.

If anyone could spare anything to help us make it through until then it would be incredibly appreciated. Every little bit adds up.
