Yall should try watching Salt and Serpent if you like ttrpg content. It's on the PixelCircus channel, Vods are on Twitch (live on sunday) and also uploaded to youtube on wednesday. It's basically gay pirates. It's just queer people everywhere. A story of flirting, sailing, pirates and all around fun. They use the Chaosium d100 system (basic roleplaying: universal game engine). Features some amazing people like gm Kailey Bray, with players Saige Ryan, Surena Marie, Aabria Iyengar, and Rowan Hall (and perhaps some special guests). It currently has 2 episodes out, and I believe it's 4 episodes. Pixel circus also has some other content including Failed Save which is also currently being streamed on twitch with many campaigns available on youtube. I digress, here's a little snippet from episode 1.

Blades in the Dark is maybe my favorite system and one of my absolute favorite settings. Very early in the first episode of The Circle of the Vassal & the Veil, it was clear Blades was a big influence on Candela. That made it an almost obligatory pick up for me.

Just starting to really dig in, but I already know it was an excellent choice.

Candela Obscura Trailer

Critical Role and its publishing company Darrington Press have announced a new game, using the new Illuminated Worlds System and set in a new world. Candela Obscura puts players in the role of investigators working to “fight back a mysterious source of corruption and bleed.” (Critical Role)

The first chapter of Candela Obscura will be led Matthew Mercer and star Robbie Daymond, Laura Bailey, Anjali Bhimani, and Ashley Johnson. The show will premiere on May 25, 2023, at 7 p.m. Pacific on Critical Role’s Twitch and YouTube. New episodes will air on the last Thursday of each month.

In addition to the show’s premiere, May 25, 2023, will also see the release of a free Quickstart Guide and a How to Play Video. The Candela Obscura Core Rulebook will release near the end of 2023.

Candela Obscura was created by Taliesin Jaffe and Chris Lockey, with Spenser Starke and Rowan Hall serving as lead designers and writers. Steve Failows will serve as director and co-produces along with Maxwell James. The game features as gothic horror aesthetic. 

The Illuminated World System was designed by Stras Acimovic and Layla Adelman. The RPG system utilizes a d6 pool system and is designed to allow for “compelling, arc-driven stories in a wide variety of settings and genres.” (Darrington Press)

MY SNOWPIERCER SEASON 4 REVIEW:

Soooo, I’ve watched the leaked season 4 of Snowpiercer… forgive my sin!

This is my review of the season, with no spoilers or major revelations.

REVIEW:

the season starts with a heavy focused on new eden, episode. the world building does feel a bit rushed, as we are in around 9 months - 1 year time jump and the world of new eden is already built in the season with no real build up to what’s been happening for the past year.

one thing, the early reviews of the season were right to say that certain characters won’t appear for the whole season. let me disappoint you, Jennifer Connelly is one of them.

the story this season in my opinion is both interesting and boring at the same time. It’s very focused on science and climate trials. some scenes, unfortunately most of them being in new eden, just didn’t interest me at all! though, the last 2 episodes of the season are action packed in very a satisfying way.

the early reviews were also right to say there’s quite a lot of death in the season. some characters do not make it alive to see the outcome of everything that’s happened in the season. some are fan’s favorites.

Also, the question we’ve all been waiting for the last 3 seasons is finally answered.

Who’s Alex’s dad?

surprisingly, it has an interesting story behind it, which i absolutely did not think about. also a really fucking weird and funny (?) scene related to it, which at the time of watching it I was like “wtf am i listening too lmao”.

This season is probably my second if not at battle for my most favorite season of Snowpiercer. Can’t believe it truly ended, or about to begin this Sunday, but the story must come to an end and their story ending is quite special.
