She was a French bearded lady from Thaon-les-Vosges, Lorraine region of eastern France. She run a local pub with her husband in the town and used to shave regularly until 1900.

In 1901, she visited the carnival of Nancy with her husband and saw a bearded woman there. Upon returning to the town, one of the regulars in the pub offered her 500 Francs (roughly 5k USD in today's money) if she let her beard grow. Even though she never get the money, she kept the beard and renamed the pub to Le Café de La Femme à Barbe, "The café of the Bearded Woman".

She became a kind of celebrity, by selling postcards and photographs (in relatively feminine settings at the beginning, later she even got a special permission from the authorities to wear men's clothes at her leisure, which was illegal at the time). She also toured in Europe and became even more famous during WW1 when she joined the Red-Cross and became the mascot of the Poilu (French infantrymen with lower class background).

Unrelated to Rathas's story, but I've had another OC percolating who I am working on!

Here's his WIP preset for Skyrim.

Dres Yengrith Erandryn Velas, or Rand, is a rich boy gone rogue.

The shell of his story is that he is the second son of wealthy saltrice plantation owners who for unknown reasons -- although Rand suspects some sort of foul play at hand -- did fairly well throughout the Argonian invasion, managing to hold onto most of their holdings. His family has turned from slavery to sharecropping, as a way of holding onto their labor force in spite of the slavery ban.

However, they still held onto the beliefs and values of House Dres: isolationism, Dunmeri supremacy, and the belief that Morrowind belongs to the Dunmer and that all other races should be exiled from their borders. For Rand, these beliefs are provincial and backwards. Well educated despite his parents best efforts to shield him from outside influence, Rand took off when he was 17 and made for Cyrodiil, landing in Mir Corrup, a wealthy resort town in the Nibenay Basin.

With refined manners honed by interacting with many of Morrowind's elite families throughout the years, Rand assimilated easily in Mir Corrup. He was young, handsome, a great conversationalist, sexually adventurous, and had just a little bit of exoticism that the Imperial elite seemed to really favor. High end escorting became an easy job for him to fall into and that's how he got his start in Cyrodiil -- essentially as a male courtesan.

He's a few years older now, late 20s, and has taken up as a burlesque style acrobatics performer after a fling with a member of a travelling circus troupe. Recently, the troupe he was working with was hired by someone to journey to Solitude for a performance related to the wedding of Emperor Titus Mede II's cousin Vittoria. His trip to Skyrim, however, does not go as planned.

He comes to Lando for advice and it's like Lando has Oscar exactly where he wants him.

There's a little bit of guilt from Lando's side, sure. Because he knows that he's going to eat away at Oscar until Oscar's exactly how Lando wants him to be (at least personally)

Lando finally getting blushing virgin Oscar under him, takes him apart until he's wailing and he doesn't know what to do to himself. Calling him his pretty girl, being so good and letting Lando take his virginity. Telling Oscar that he's going to teach him exactly what he wants, exactly how he likes it.

And then Oscar can't stay away, just follows him around like a lost puppy and there's a part of Lando that feels guilty about it because they can't ACTUALLY be together, it would be bad for their image/the team, etc. He has to pretend to be all aloof but all he wants to do is breakdown and given Oscar exactly what he wants.

Then he watches his pretty little rookie driving the car like HE owns it, and it sets his teeth on edge. So he HAS to remind Oscar exactly how inexperienced he is....

Goddammit anon i need y'all to stop giving me ideas.
