Lost and Found, space edition: part 2

This took me way longer than i intended, i think i’m gonna stay with two pagers from now on (but my babygirl needed his magical girl moment, ykno?)

Next I’m going to skip to technical chapter one, where Strike meets the other main characters of this story, so enjoy Overlord while he’s here

A commission I recieved from DS at TFcon Toronto 2022, of FOWAU Megan (Overlord) and Melody! They did the original sketch (below cut) and I did the line art and colors. I love how these two turned out!

So my drawing tablet looks to have been injured in the trip back to college and I haven’t checked to see if it still works. So. Uh. Anyway I made my bastard lizards (+ the one insect) into mammals.

Bastard Lizard Battlecats AU!!

I tried to stick to more realistic coat colors but Amaldyne can have a purple eye. As a treat.

Some AU facts, presented in no particular order:

- Amaldyne’s warrior name is just her dragon family name. If you’re wondering who would name a kit “Rotkit” I think there was a bit of a tradition of giving kits “scary” or “menacing” names.

- Blizzardshard (Eityr) got her prefix the same way. That or she was an outsider who was brought to the clan young.

- They’re all in ShadowClan!

- Rotwing was a relatively well-respected warrior. A little intense, but well-meaning, intelligent, ambitious, and with the clan’s best interests at heart. Nobody’s quite sure why her apprentices turned out Like That.

- She mentored Blizzardshard and Lionsong (Leoshgon). Blizzard (who had mostly known her parent’s (Watcherite expy, although I don’t think I’ve talked much about it) intensely controlling behavior found Rotwing a welcome reprieve and a role model. She really looked up to her and became an intensely fanatical supporter. Lion will commit atrocities for affection and Rotwing was more than happy to take advantage of this.

- I imagine that Amaldyne hadn’t considered leadership too seriously, but with ShadowClan under threat from several factions she took it upon herself to fix everything through the power of clawing her way to the top by any means necessary.

- Maybe some horrible calamity can befall her family this time too to give her the push to make some REALLY terrible decisions.

- But without the armageddon time crunch she has time to move the pieces into place. She’s a respected warrior. She has time.

- First order of business is making Blizzard a medicine cat. Blizzardshard would do ANYTHING Rot told her to do so it’s not hard to convince her. Not sure how it happens but it does get done (Blizzard does have a knack for herbs. And maybe some less savory skillsets).

- Leo was the right-hand-man and mate of the Overseer, as well as a former kittypet. As the Overseer got more and more dangerous and controlling he (as before) began collaborating with Amaldyne to kill him (as he was also becoming a serious threat to ShadowClan). When they succeeded, he was brought into the Clan (I imagine she was deputy by this point). While he was a grown adult, he still needed a short apprenticeship period to grow used to clan life and learn how to hunt and fight in ShadowClan.

- Deputy Rotwing had permission to spy on the twolegplace cats but the full scope of her activities was never discovered.

- She was a serious candidate for the deputyship, but possibly had Blizzard place a conveniently rotting birds wing somewhere. Maybe.

- Idk I like the idea of her getting the position legitimately. Or even the sign being real but it being a warning that Blizzard covers up or willfully misinterprets.

- When asked why she was so invested in getting Lion into the clan and making him her apprentice she said that she saw potential in him. This is technically true.

- She worked hard to teach him how to be deputy because she recognized a good puppet when she saw one. She made sure to give him an apprentice as soon as the time was right.

- She definitely got the leader killed after all the pieces were in place.

- Lionsong was her first mistake as leader. He was liked but not respected, both for his outsider heritage and his personality. Rotstar wanted someone who would follow orders and be easily manipulated (but who wouldn’t accidentally start a war by snapping and murdering another deputy like Blizzard), and Lion’s obnoxious chatterbox routine and pushover nature made him a great tool but a poor deputy.

- More charitable cats thought this was just nepotism. Lion and Blizzard were the cats closest to Rotstar in the clan and one of them was too medicine cat to be deputy.

- Less charitable cats recognized Rotstar giving her strongest supporters the only roles with enough power to challenge her decisions.

- Like Blueflame! I haven’t talked about her and Lilypaw (or their original lizardverse versions) but they’re both here. Blueflame’s lizard version doesn’t have a name (that’s like the middle part of character creation for me) but she’s Amaldyne’s ex gf. Their relationship ends as Amaldyne gets worse and worse and it is NOT an easy breakup. Like in the lizardverse, Blueflame is dry-witted, level headed, smart, and somewhat laid back. Lilypaw is an expy of Lesareth Rotwing, Amaldyne’s younger cousin. A somewhat rude academically-minded dragon named after a very rare and poisonous flower.

- Unlike in Lizardverse, Lilypaw is Rot and Blue’s daughter. Canon Amaldyne has enough shit going on without also being a parent but outside of it I like the extra family drama and I eat it like the popcorn.

- Lilypaw is a medicine cat apprentice. Her parents split (on much better terms) when Rotwing first became deputy. She was sort of an absent parent to Lily tbh.

- Blueflame is the one to kill Rotstar and becomes the leader after.

- Rotstar keeps fucking. Starting wars. And scheming to take down enemies. And becoming more and more controlling. She loses a lot of the trust and respect she used to command but is still feared by many. Blizzardshard dies with her, and Lionsong is probably also killed, but might be driven off to parts unknown depending on how cooperative he is.

I left out soooo many things (such as “what if warrior cats did necromancy?”) but this got so fucking long and I am. Tired. Anyway hope you enjoyed. I am constantly putting the lizards in Situations.

I have a q about your hf au if that's okay :) Does springer age very quickly as part of his genetic coding or something like that? Or was he born when prowl and mesothulas were much younger and by the time sotw/rotw happens, he's an adult?

Ooooh you exposed the big continuity error of my AU! How does Springer go from baby to soldier seemingly overnight?

He wasn't born when Prowl was younger. He's very much the product of mature, Late War Prowl, the Prowl who would try anything to win-- the only Prowl, by the way, who'd have anything to do with Mesothulas in the first place.

Perhaps he does age quickly. If he was indeed meant to be some sort of supersoldier (as I think was Prowl's angle on the whole experiment), then perhaps something was coded into his DNA to make him grow up fast, launching him into self-sufficient battle-readiness in a fraction of the years it would normally take to grow a functional person.

It would also mean, quite likely, that he would have lived a fraction of an average lifespan. Which makes his disappearance into the Timemaze all the more poignant: he slipped the leash on Prowl as well as on his own truncated lifeline. He became indeterminate, as well as uncontrolled: a child outside of time.

I'm sorry to inform you that I'm no English major. In fact, not only English isn't my first language, my first language isn't even of Latin roots. They're not even remotely similar. The fact I learned English as well as I did is because I grew up on English cartoons and books as a hobby that I took way too seriously in teenhood, and it blossomed into what you see today. If there's anything I'm probably going to get a major in, it's probably genetics.

I wouldn't call ROTW the best MXTX fanfiction, because it just isn't, but I'm flattered that you think so. As for the TGCF fic... Hm. I have one or three ideas written down to a certain degree (a modern AU with classic coffee shop background and both sweet and spicy romance going on, a role-reversal of sorts during which Hua Cheng is the scourge of heavens by actively being inside heavens, and even one TGCF rewrite including a six-hundred-year-old Hualian kid because I'm a sucker for family dynamics if you haven't already noticed) But first I have to finish ROTW and my other ongoing fic before I even think about adding another to my workload.

I'm happy you enjoyed reading ROTW though, it's very precious to me. Thank you so much.

I must accept that, like how Vtubees and Holothingies dominate the conversations these days, that the industry has moved on without me! (not that I really care…). Just a little Intro

Sooooooooooo you guys may not know me but I at least know some members from an old amino group I was on remember me. My name is the lovely Lj Draka and I am the creator of the comic series Rise of the Warriors. It’s been my project work for the past 4 years now and I can’t wait to share the story here to new faces. However, I’m going to be leaving the links from part 1 to about part 14 or 15 so that way you guys can have a little understanding what is going on. The art I will admit doesn't look good in the beginning but I am in the works of remaking the beginning of the comic so it’ll take some time. In the meanwhile, I had just posted part 21 last month so I’ll get to work on making the posts. I hope you all enjoy the story and characters as I put so much love and work into this. Requiem of the Wreckers to me is like sam raimi spiderman 3 to so many people. It’s such a trainwreck it’s amazing and my mind will not shut up about it. Rotw gets better (worse) every reread, I get frustrated over what should’ve happened and how it should’ve ended, and then I’m like “here’s what character A should’ve done here and maybe if we had more pages (screen time) we could’ve gotten more buildup for character B.” I reread it again and it’s even more frustrating but it’s so bad it’s good and fun that I can’t look away. Tarantulas did that for some reason. Springer was like that somehow. They’re in a barn. Ok. Don’t even get me fucking started on whatever the hell Overlord was doing. Hey why don’t we question the implications of this specific plot point that exists only for there to be a shocking reveal of a returning character that also uses previous elements established in the narrative? Yeah but what if we really question it? Like a lot? Is this what it’s like to be obsessed. You make an AU to carry the weight of poorly explained story elements in a trilogy-ending comic book that only so many have read. And its obscurity and absurdity makes you love it so much it becomes self indulgent to the point you get shy when you share it. It is about a poorly explained plot element that you aren’t supposed to question but I did the opposite and made it a problem. Just like the comic itself. I do not understand the grapple it has on my mind and why these writing decisions were made, why did some of these things end like THAT, how did this shit escalate. The writing in this post is as unhinged as the writing of Requiem of the Wreckers because that is what it is. Unhinged. Please read it you will not be disappointed (by what I’m saying). Never before has a comic book driven me this mad

Not just them, but the lazy clan that robbed almost all of your clan’s rewards. The conniving clan that disguised their men as your clan’s and muddled your family’s name. 

How would you feel if you saw all of them die?

...And you were the only one left standing?

And now you’ve lost your ability to join them.

I'm the anon from the sammy royale ask. This time I propose a battle of the normans, but to be fairer I'll swap out hell's studio for reeling off the wheel. The others stay as before.

Anon please stop making our AU versions fight, I'm begging you... (But also this is NOT a fair fight!!!).

I'll still humor you and I invite @robboyblunder and @inkdemonapologist to throw in their thoughts on the matter if they feel like it, since they know their versions of Norman better than I do.

Starting this disaster off with Reeling Off the Wheel Norman, it's definitely a better match up than throwing in the Hell's Studio folks because he at least experienced and survived the studio, coming out of it pretty well off in the end. I can't recall if Rob ever mentioned his height in the story, but he's got a ranch (although his two horses are technically toons) so he's definitely used to working hard, thus not a pushover. Southern Cowboy vibes, definitely can hold his own in a fight, but may not jump into an outright brawl unless he has a good reason to. In the story he's also found out what happens when he's wildly outclassed, and I doubt he'd make the same mistake twice. Overall I predict he'd be the sort to dip his toes in first, then decide if it's worth knocking skulls or not.

Escape AU Norman has a height I can call upon reliably (6'3" with a slimmer looking build), and he's certainly got an attitude that probably has gotten him into scraps before, but his weak spots are easy to find: Specifically the exposed wires, and his lack of clear memories of his time as the Projectionist. He wasn't all there and that worked in his favour in terms of coming out of that hellhole, but in a situation where he has to fight two other versions of him? Not so good... I predict he'd try to find a way around the conflict altogether, if not outright find a way to get the other two to take each other out. He's a clever man and probably knows when he can't win this sort of gun fight.

Post-Studio AU Norman is still sort of the Projectionist, so throwing him into this fight is wildly unfair. As Norman Polk my version was already a bit of a bruiser (6'11" and built like a shitbrick house from spending his youth doing farm work and enduring his father's military drills). As the Projectionist however, he's past the 7 foot mark and an absolute nightmare when set off because he was absolutely feral. Poor Norman was so used to being attacked in the studio that he's basically wired to choose fight over flight when posed with a frightful situation, and since he's got a lot to recover mentally it's still very easy to slip back into that mentality where the only option he has is to lash out and rip stuff apart to survive. He'll feel horrible about it once he calms down, but honestly that doesn't help the other two by much... At best the only ways I can think of that gives them an out of facing off against him, is either knowing sign language or having either of his emotional support people (Sammy, Susie, Cameraman or even his actual service dog) in the same room to defuse the situation.

So yeah, in terms of fairness the Sammy brawl was at least sorta not as unbalanced because each Sammy had one thing going for them (be it ferocity, experience in a fight, or generally unpredictability), PSA Norman is not someone you should throw in a fight because he won't hesitate to attack if he feels cornered, but who knows... That might be the edge ROTW Norman and EA Norman need to win against him.
