Rose Reviews - Colorful Memory
I just wanna preface this by saying, I've had a rough day so this might not be a very forgiving review of this show. Also I couldn't type properly so I dictated most of it, so it probably has a weird rhythm and if there are mistakes, I apologize.
So there are a lot of things in common with 1000 stars. Remote village, voluntary teacher comes to teach music, waterfall shirtless moment, hidden health condition, the villagers get what's happening before the boys do, blah blah blah.
Things not in common - good acting, good writing, good editing, good chemistry, good ending.
Spoilers galore from here on.
So 4 episodes, average 22 minutes each. Music Teacher meets art teacher in bridge before he gets to the village. Music and Art - Colorful Melody, get it??? they're so smart.
Music teacher arrives in village and immediately sings a song (cause everyone begs for it, as if...) making the art teacher fall in love at first sight.
The editing is really weird so it's hard to measure time but I guess they spend like at least a couple days together and they go through all the tropes and then comes the waterfall moment where the violin player music teacher is laying on the lake sleeping, as one often is, and then the art guy goes and kisses him which prompts him to run away.
Then a lot of sadness.
Then the music teacher comes back with no explanation of what happened and they go camping with a quick detour to visit a grave and give us art teacher's tragic backstory (dead parents).
Then, in this order, food, kissing, sex, morning, OMG art guy has a heart condition and could die at any moment, music guy "I will be with you no matter what" confession.
Separation by external factors. Phone breakup by art guy because obviously love doesn't go with fatal heart condition.
Sadness, tears, yada yada yada, 1 year later.
Music guy comes back to help is father with the family business, never before seen in thai bl, and ta-dah - they met as kids moment.
Running man back to the village where he finds out the truth, and the art guy is no longer there so he goes to be sad while watching the sunset and we finish with this shot.
The one closest to us is art guy.
THE END.
In case it was hard to tell, I was not a fan. I've seen it all before, and I didn't need to see it again done worse.
Anyway if you to check for yourself, it's less than 90 minutes long so at least it's not a massive waste of time.
Y'all have a good day and I'm gonna try and salvage mine. đ

The tide is turning for the TQ+. And they have no one to blame but themselves
Wes Streeting last night admitted he had been wrong to say that âtrans women are womenâ amid a major Labour row over the Cass review into NHS gender care.
The shadow health secretary said the controversial LGBT rights group Stonewall â where he used to work â had got it wrong with its slogan.
In a major about-turn for the party, he told The Sun that he now admitted âthere are lots of complexitiesâ on the trans issue but that he was prepared to take criticism âon the chin.
It came as Labour became embroiled in another trans row after Mr Streeting welcomed the review and pledged to implement it in full.
The shadow health secretary said the report raised âsome serious concerns that are pretty scandalousâ.
But Rosie Duffield, a Labour MP placed under investigation by the party last year for campaigning against gender ideology, pointed out that women who had exposed the scandal had been âblanked, sidelined and dismissedâ by male leaders simply for speaking up.
Last night Mr Streeting was asked on The Sunâs Never Mind The Ballots programme whether he stood by Stonewallâs claim that âtrans women are women, get over itâ, he admitted: âNo.â
He added: âTo the extent that â and I say this with some self-criticism and reflection â if youâd asked me a few years ago, on this topic, I would have said trans men are men, trans women are women. Some people are trans, get over it. Letâs move on. This is all blown out of proportion.
âAnd now I sort of sit and reflect and think actually, there are lots of complexities.â
He went on: âI take the criticism on the chin. And at the same time, I also think that thereâs been some absolutely ugly rhetoric directed towards trans people who are at the wrong end of all of statistics on hate crime, on self harm, suicide, mental health.â
Labour has long been divided on trans issues and has been accused of flip-flopping on its stance in recent years.
The party no longer has plans to bring in self-ID for trans people, and Sir Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, has rowed back from saying âtrans women are womenâ, and now states that a woman is an âadult femaleâ and that 99.9 per cent of them do not have a penis.
Mr Streetingâs comments angered the Labour Left. The Corbynite group Momentum tweeted: âThe Cass review ignored dozens of scientific studies, coming to a harmful conclusion of limiting access to gender-affirming care for trans youth.
âAnti-trans campaigners have celebrated it. So itâs highly disappointing that Labourâs leadership is welcoming it unreservedly.â
Yesterday, feminist Julie Bindel demanded an apology from Mr Streeting for failing to support her gender-critical views when he was president of the National Union of Students.
Earlier this year, the party dropped a year-long investigation into a complaint that Ms Duffield had been transphobic for liking a tweet by Father Ted creator Graham Linehan, who is now a gender-critical campaigner.
However, despite the changes, critics of the Labour leadership say gender-critical women in the party continue to be sidelined or not selected.
Wes Streeting says the Cass report raised 'some serious concerns that are pretty scandalous'Â CREDIT: Jay Williams
The Cass review, published on Wednesday, said much of the evidence for gender medicine was flimsy and that drugs such as puberty blockers should be used with extreme caution as children who think they are trans may have mental health problems.
Dr Hilary Cass, the paediatrician behind the report, said some NHS gender clinics refused to comment on requests for information.
On Never Mind the Ballots, Mr Streeting said: âI think weâve got to ask ourselves why is it that weâve seen medical interventions that have been given on the basis of very weak evidence?
âHow is it that clinicians have been silenced or afraid to come forward? Why is it that a group of young people who are extremely vulnerable are waiting years to access treatment?
âI think thereâs plenty of blame to go around. Iâm pretty angry actually that despite this review having been commissioned there are some NHS trusts that refused to co-operate.
âAnd I want to send a clear message to them that under a Labour government thereâll be accountability for that, youâre not going to get away with it. And I want to work constructively with the Government to try to get this right.â
Earlier, he had tweeted: âChildrenâs healthcare should always be led by evidence and childrenâs welfare, free from culture warsâŚ
âThe Government must now immediately act, but if they do not, the next Labour government will work to implement the expert recommendations of the Cass review, to ensure that young people are receiving appropriate and high-quality care.â
This prompted Ms Duffield to retweet the statement, with the message: âTo the many women blanked, sidelined, dismissed by male leaders when speaking up and exposing this for years.â
And Ms Bindel, a former Labour Party member, wrote: âGlad to see you are now openly critical of the gender ideology that led to the atrocities against children outlined in the Cass report.
âI am open to accepting an apology from you. In 2008, when you were NUS president, I was no-platformed alongside five fascist groups for âtransphobiaâ.
âI contacted you and asked for your help. You gave none. I asked you to condemn those that had orchestrated the no-platforming, and you refused.
âHave you any idea of the reputational damage this caused me? How it gave others permission to no-platform, denounce and defame me?
âHow it meant that I could be slandered by other organisations, and so many, many universities around the UK and elsewhere? If this sounds bitter then good, because I am.â
To this message, Ms Duffield said: âThank you for leading us all here Julie. Without you, most of us wouldnât have had a clue what had been happening to children who were far too young to have the critical faculties or agency to consent.â
Addressing Ms Bindelâs accusation, Mr Streeting replied: âFrom memory (16 years on, so correct me if Iâm wrong!) I replied to confirm that you werenât on NUSâ no platform policy and as this was in relation to a motion passed by the autonomous womenâs campaign I was not empowered to overturn it (not least as a male president!).â

Also like prerequisite "fuck Disney" but god, Deadpool and Wolverine was such a fun time.
Like I haven't seen most of the new MCU projects (I watched and finished Wandavision, then watched GotG3 and that was it until now) but a lot of those projects felt very Corporate. Like they felt very wooden and basic from what I saw, meanwhile Deadpool and Wolverine feels like such a love letter to comic movies, especially the ones that preceded the greater MCU.
I could feel that everyone involved had a fun time getting the movie made. The costumes look great, the actors are immersed in the roles, the jokes are actually really funny... The two villains are boring for the most part, but they are far from being the real focus of the film because they're actually concerned about Deadpool and Wolverine and how Wade and Logan are feeling as characters.
It is by no means a perfect movie, but goddamnit it was fun and the mid-credits slideshow of old behind the scenes clips felt so important to me.

I appreciate you and your wonderful tags on our pod!
Thank you for sharing it, Faye! Kept me really wonderful company during a long work afternoon. No joke, I was laughing while analyzing my campaign metrics. And tbh listening to the pod was just...leagues more enjoyable for me than watching the actual movie. lol! *** For the people who haven't listened in, fellow modern war enjoyers, people who love to love, diss, laugh and cry for WWII media Rosie The Reviewer is such a great podcast! Also @fayestardust and @almost-a-class-act are just naturally funny so cackling alone to yourself in your room/at a cafe while two friends chat about myth-making in war media inside your earphones is an expected hazard. Their rating system is Great.
They've done whole discussions about Band of Brothers that I'm about to inhale next, and more recently SaS: Rogue Heroes. Good fucking food.

Medea - A Review
Medea review is finally ready - it's a chunky one, enjoy!
Medeaâs story is not an easy one to execute, and Hewlett has done a phenomenal job. It is clear sheâs a classicist, from the narrative choices of which source material to lean on, to the casual application of context, this is probably going to be the best Mythological retelling of the year. As someone familiar with the original texts, and who already had a soft spot for Medea, this absolutelyâŚ

Fanfic Recommendations, Installment #1!
This is a long one! But even if you don't read all of my words here, you should definitely read theirs!
. â
.`.â...â.`.â
.
It feels as though it would be some sort of terrible crime not to highlight the most wonderful fic series that has been circulating its way through the Hazbin Hotel fandom over the last little stretch of time. Yes indeedy, Iâm speaking of nothing other than the meteor shower series by spoondrifts on A03 (and ofc as @cringefailvox here on lovely tumblr!)
This enthralling little series is currently comprised of two parts; time has changed the metaphor and its sequel, dragging its tail in the sea.
Herein we get the most delectable example of polyam, QPR, label-less goodness that I dare say there has been a gaping lack of up until now! (and if I am mistaken, I am happy to be so so wrong so long as you send all those good fics my way!!! My perceptions are fallible)
And who might make up the delightful QPR trio featured in this story? Why, none other than our most beloved Alastor, Rosie, and Vox!
I will admit to you, my dear reader, that I was skeptical of how this trio would function together. A fool, even. But the fanart (here for pt.1 fanart) (and here for pt.2 art) drew me in, it delighted me, and the writing, well, the writing simply blew me away.
How lovely it is to sit down and read such gorgeous, thoughtful, and perfectly complicated renditions of these characters. One that deeply explores the bounds of non-traditional connections, and the twisting, complicated ways we can come to find others in our hearts. Because it seems that even in hell, there can be things that make you feel foreign amongst your peers. That is, if you donât let yourself be known.
The way Spoondrifts dives into the mentality of the three characters is such a joy to read that I scarcely think I have adequate words to express how exactly it is I feel.
To be Queer in any form is such a varied array of experiences, indescribably vast; and while labels can often be a freedom for some, especially as a place of belonging, or a reaffirmation of identity â or even simply that labels often act as a gateway to community and support â there are many that feel labels restrict them. That those labels are another set of rules they donât fit neatly into, a chafing reminder of common-societyâs boundaries in a place that is supposed to offer refuge.
This is precisely why many have embraced and reclaimed the word "queer" itself as a catch-all term for âoutside the cis-het bubbleâ.
Yet, we often jump, especially in fiction, to labeling exactly who and what a character may be. Defining their relationships with immense detail, and fighting ruthlessly over canon vs. fanon vs. fanon-but-less-popular. Yet, here in this fanfic, we see a shining example of the complicated web of queer experiences. Of connection. Of love and care.
A refreshing lens to be sure.
It is a story that says âthese characters are enough, as flawed and rotten and lovely as they are, and so are you.â â and isnât that the very crux of this fandom itself? Is the commentary on Christian religion and the people that claim to uphold it, not in and of itself a similar thing? A story that says âyou can be terrible and wonderful. You can be awful and be loved. You can be different and be whole.â
In watching the series itself, there was something cathartic for me, too personal for me to write in too great of detail in the here and now. But it made me feel loved. It made me feel like even if I wasnât perfect, I could still have worth. That I could make mistakes, and still be allowed the grace of second chances if Iâm willing to learn and grow from any of the mistakes I'll inevitably make on this complicated journey of life. And so, so much more.
That is how this fanfiction made me feel. Loved. Warm. Safe. Free to be a mess of a human (because arenât we all?). And still at the end of the day be worthy. To, someday, be loved and cared for in whatever ways I need. That none of us are too much or too little.
Iâve been straying away from labels myself over the years, knowing I fit into a few different nooks and crannies within our vast umbrella, but not quite vibing with a lot of the words anymore. Life is, after all, a journey of discovery; and Iâd be a fool to say I know and understand all of myself when Iâm not yet even 24 â and fics like this, this fic, made my chest ache in the way the thought of kissing a woman once did. Maybe thereâs something there for me to discover, maybe there isnât. Perhaps itâs just my neurodivergences and my queerness aligning into a desire - and deeply rooted fear - for being seen.
But regardless of how you do or donât identify, I think anyone would feel a deep fondness for the bonds within this story â though if you align with any of it yourself, it may of course hit you even more profoundly.
The pacing of the story is beyond impeccable and it never once feels stuck in a âset of locationsâ. The world of the pride ring feels sprawling and alive within these words despite spending most of our time within Rosieâs domain.
The care and thought that was given to each character and their depictions - just, damn. Every action felt grounded, understandable for each individual character, and kept you wanting more of each and every bit. Elements of canon were woven into a beautiful tapestry of fanon that feels so real and so right, that if Viv said it was true in a parallel version of Hazbin-Hell, I would believe you in a heartbeat.
The three characters play off of each other beautifully and enticingly, without sacrificing an ounce of what makes them (particularly Al and Vox) ripe for a good âyou fucking dumbass, get it through your headâ shoulder-shake.
I canât say too much more without simply gushing over every sentence and ruining the experience for those who have not yet read it, but let me just say: wow. As well as: Thank you, Spoondrifts. What a lovely gift youâve given us. Thank you for your words. For this exploration of relationships, and hearts that beat a little funny.

Tiny Review: Mad Max: Fury Road 2015. Unconventional Literal Road Story. MUST WATCH!
Just watched this again, after Furiosa 2024. This is much more cinematic, artistic, pleasing to the eye, compared to the recent one. Â
Again, both are heavy on the feminist theme. This one is about running from the patriarchy and then going back to change things. Â
Both are well-written, thrilling, entertaining movies. Pity they will not be making more.
Mad Max: Fury Road is a 2015 post-apocalyptic action film co-written, co-produced, and directed by George Miller. It stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, with Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Riley Keough, ZoÍ Kravitz, Abbey Lee, and Courtney Eaton.

đ˝ď¸ A League of Their Own (1992)
Surprisingly to me, this movie was very touching. There were several moments that brought tears to my eyes. I donât want to give any spoilers, but itâs a pretty emotional movie. I thought it would just be a fun movie about a womenâs baseball league, but itâs much more than that. Itâs funny, sad, and real. The fact that itâs based on a true story just makes it even better. I really like this movie a lot. I could watch it again and again.
Sex/nudity: 3/10 (quite a few sexual innuendoes and comments, females seen in underwear frequently in a non-sexual manner)
Language: 2/10 (no f bombs, a few instances of milder language)
Violence: 2/10 (some sports fighting, baseball injuries shown, talk of war and war injuries)
Overall rating: 9/10

So I just watched Dead Boy Detectives
Finished after a week or so. Not gonna lie, at first it caught my eye because of the similarity at first glance with Lockwood and Co.
So I gave it a chance, knowing absolutly nothing about the lore nor the comics. Even when I watched the first scenes and part of the intro I though "Huh, this really feels like a Neil Gaiman work", and then his name came up on the screen. So, yeah, very true to his style or at least from my perspective it seems like it is.
I liked it. I didn't love it. But the plot was interesting, the characters weren't 2D at all and it never felt like the story was stuck on any part. The first chapters were the weakest to me but halfway through it caught all my attention.
Loved Niko, loved Jenny, Crystal, Edwien, Charles. The characters were great. It really felt like they had a real friendship. I liked the character development.
The VFX were... mediocre. The fire drink that Esther had was really cool and the glowing squid was beautiful, but then there was stuff like the giant mushroom that looked like a 3D model from a PS3 game that came out years ago, or whenever Edwin and Charles travelled through the mirror or doors the green screen was painfully obvious.
Overall, entertaining and interesting to watch but didn't blew my mind away.
