Assorted Sing Headcanons Pt. 4?

- Nooshy wears Heelys when they’re not dancing. And light-up Sketchers when she is.

- Ash will play a horror movie soundtrack at the theatre whenever people least expect it. Hence why she’s banned from the aux cord.

- Nana likes to prank people by telling them differing age for her. There is now a small local conspiracy that she is a vampire because of this.

- Meena is great at making flower crowns and the troupe will refuse to take them off if given one.

- Ash laughs at horror movies.

- Gunter believes pretty much any conspiracy theory anyone tells him. Rosita is starting to worry he’ll end up in a cult.

- Mizuki, while running the theatre’s social media, also has started fan accounts for the troupe members.

- Ryan is insanely good at learning languages.

- Rosita got Buster into cooking shows and he will now add commentary like a man who didn’t nearly burn down his apartment.

- Johnny was afraid of emergency sirens as kid but got a bit better around them as he got older.

Okay, director's commentary for this bit in chapter one of As they learn to see, because I like it and nobody comments on it because there's so much else going on in that chapter:

When Bruno woke, he thought he was in his vision cave.

It was dark and his head felt like a cracked open egg. In the years after he received his gift, he used to look for blood after the worse visions, unable to believe that such pain could come without injury.

He knew better, now. But he didn’t feel the sand. And his hair felt sticky and wet. Why?

Something moved in front of him, soft fur and long whiskers brushing his face. The rat squeaked. Had Rosana snuck into the vision cave again? There was a lot of squeaking, actually. Little paws pressed at his mouth.

He fell asleep again.

First: the thing about checking for blood is something I used to do as a kid, because migraines feel like there has to be some sort of damage. It seemed strange that something could hurt that much and be completely invisible.

But more importantly: the rats!

The Rosana mentioned here is actually Rosita's grandmother, making Rosita the only Atlts rat with any canon ancestry. Bruno named her because they both were/are energetic, mischievous, and live according to their own rules. I imagine that, in the walls at least, Bruno didn't name the baby rats until they grew up a bit and started displaying individual personalities. There was no one to talk about them with, anyway, so he could afford to take his time.

And when the paws pressed at his mouth, that was the rats trying to feed him the last of the buñuelo crumbs. There was barely anything left at that point, though. Which was fortunate, because anything larger would have been a choking hazard. So, rat angst: they were desperately trying to save his life, but could only watch as their best efforts failed.

Then Julieta came home, and entered the rat spaces. The rats now think of her (and pretty much half of the family) as the person/people who saved Bruno when they couldn't, which is why they've adjusted so well to being around not!Bruno humans. Julieta is basically a rat saint.

I also thought it was fun to have Bruno uncertain what time he was in. I play with this a lot in his narration (probably the most in There's no path back, since it's essentially a character piece). His mind tends toward the future or past, especially when he's distressed, but demonstrations of love anchor him more in the present.

I feel like this doesn’t get acknowledged because of the creepiness factor and controversy of it but I really do feel like there’s some weird sistercest vibes going on between Wynonna and Waverly in their supposedly “platonic only” relationship. Mainly from Wynonna.

The show doesn’t do itself any favours in not not implying incest what with the Gooverly kiss to possess Wynonna and Waverly kissing her again to get the demon back in S2. And just like Wynonna slapping Waverly’s ass every now and again. And the whole confession in ‘Life Turned Her That Way’ that if it was legal she’d have already married her sister to Nicole.

And it’s just… it’s very much hinted at that their close relationship is intimate in ways where it shouldn’t be.

And what was that whole thing in ‘Love’s All Over’ where Wynonna couldn’t stop talking about how Bunny Loblaw was hot for Waverly? And the outfit where Waverly just had to comment on Wynonna’s boobs and Wynonna had to ask Waverly whether she was still into boobs. Like Wynonna has some weird obsession with her boobs. And just.. all of this stuff implies something is going on between them. I just…

They really do not help themselves with all of this shit.

Like maybe because they’re half sisters they thought it wasn’t so bad to keep hinting this. But I… nope. 😖

Perhaps it was just because they wanted to keep hinting at Wynonna having a bisexual curiosity which writers heavily imply with the character of Rosita. But yeah, it just doesn’t work. I grit my teeth every time queer dialogue like that comes out of Wynonna’s mouth. But it’s especially cringey when it’s Waverly.

I really hope this is something that is dropped in ‘Vengeance’. Especially now that Waverly is married because the sistercest vibes are creepy as hell but they’re also extremely disrespectful to Nicole as well. The Wynaught ‘top shelf’ ass comments also need to be dropped now that they’re sister-in-laws as well.

To the ‘Wynonna Earp: Vengeance’ writers.

Like just don’t do incest. Don’t imply it. Don’t make creepy jokes just because Wynonna is weird like that.

All the commentary about boobs and ass in general. Just stop. Unless you’re actually making it canon. Like i love subtext. I can enjoy subtext. But this is really annoying pandering as far as Wynonna goes. So either drop all of this altogether or actually make it official.

Additional LOTD info on this AU (with connections to Bar Boys lore, originally created by heyheyitsjuju)

After news of his lost recordings came up in LOTD as brought in by new arrivals and Coco's own realization, Héctor with support from Imelda and the rest of the family decided to record new versions of the 78 rpms. The pandemic had somehow reached their side of reality, and they had been spending most of their time in the grounds of their hacienda, so might as well do something to pass the time. By this time, Rosita has been romantically involved with none other than renowned talent scout and Héctor's friend, Rafael Herrera Meza for quite some time, and he had offered to fund and help manage for the creation of the new recordings.

The family had been learning how to play music and sing ever since the music ban had been lifted after the fated Día de Muertos, and this naturally became an exciting but also nerving experience. Even Rafael himself was nervous, if not even more nervous than the family thanks to his social anxiety. Regardless, they went on with the plan.

After the release of "Mi Familia es mi Mundo", the album's title being a play on Héctor's Huarango-inspired tune "El Mundo es mi Familia", rave reviews started coming in much like how it was for "Recuérdame: The Lost Recordings of Héctor Rivera (1919-1921)" in the Land of The Living. Instrumentals for the songs were provided not only by musical instruments, but also the sounds of dancing shoes hitting the ground as provided by Héctor, Imelda, Julio, and Coco which later on became a Rivera musical staple (like these ones from Steven Universe).

After the city was graced by Imelda Rivera's infamous "La Llorona" performance during the last Sunrise Spectacular, fans had been anticipating a duet of the song featuring her and Héctor and were pleasantly surprised that it made it to the album. By request, it was later released as a single, following the new rendition of "El Mundo es mi Familia" and the lead single "Mi Familia es mi Mundo". It made it to the top of the charts overnight, with reviews praising Imelda's haunting vocals and the "awe-inspiring" harmonies with Héctor. Another version of "Remember Me" was also featured: this time with Héctor and Coco singing as the final track of the album. It was a one-time take, recorded in the living room of the Rivera hacienda, with additional commentary from Héctor talking about how the song had been bastardized for years and how this track was how it was supposed to be sung; a lullaby for a loved one.

Following the success of the album, fans also wanted an album of covers of well-known Mexican and other Latin American songs. An acoustic recording of Vicente Fernandez's "Hermoso cariño" featuring Rosita Rivera and Rafael Herrera was amongst the 14 tracks and was very well-received, with praises for Herrera's rich baritone and Rosita's sweet soprano harmonizing together. Another version of "La Llorona" was also included in the album, this time as an acoustic version with Victoria in lead vocals. Imelda's rendition of "La Bruja" became one of the most popular songs in the Land Of The Dead, with critics praising her soulful voice that suits the message of the song. Tunes featuring Óscar & Felipe as the lead vocals were also featured, though almost at the last minute (after much debate on whether the songs they picked were on-theme), as unlike the rest of the family they chose to sing in Portuguese after listening to João Gilberto and Ary Barroso. Reviews were praising not only Victoria's jazzy and bossa nova-esque vocals, but also Óscar & Felipe´s renditions of songs such as "Aguarela do Brasil" and "Doralice" thanks to their unique way of dueting and hypnotizing stereo arrangements.

Another Coco "What If" AU, but this time Héctor actually recorded some tunes

Heavily inspired by the story of how Ryo Fukui's album "My Favorite Tunes" was rediscovered through his widow, Yasuko in 2017.

After the news broke out about de la Cruz's lies (and alleged murder) of his buried-by-time duet partner, musician, and songwriter Héctor Rivera, rumors of never-before-seen and extremely rare recordings of the latter performing either with de la Cruz or by himself circulated amongst certain circles, mostly fans of lost media and buried history.

Talks like this had been going around for ages, but it wasn't until mid-2018 when a shoe-maker family's youngest son, namely Miguel Rivera, came out with stories of how de la Cruz stole his great-great grandfather's songs and skull guitar complete with physical proof that the topic of lost recordings suddenly became one of the hottest topics in México. Miguel himself joined in on the hunt, which lasted for quite some time well past 2018 and was postponed due to the pandemic.

And then, in 2021. A miracle.

Either Mamá Coco had completely forgotten about it or it was a secret that she had purposely kept to herself for Miguel to discover, but there were some other things she had kept hidden from her mother... five 78 rpm records pre-dating 1921, all sent by Héctor. Recordings of him singing by himself, with Ernesto, or just simple guitar arrangements of his other songs. Kept in secret by Mamá Coco somewhere in a corner of Miguel's hideout left unchecked after Imelda threw them out along with other objects related to music. Other 78s were later on discovered by a descendant of de la Cruz's inside the family estate and in various antique shops, all collecting dust. They were amongst the most important relics of Héctor's legacy, besides his red songbook containing the first composition for "Remember Me".

After efforts of digitizing came out successful, a record company once belonging to a musician-turned-producer from the 1960s released "Recuérdame: The Lost Recordings of Héctor Rivera (1919-1921)". Calling the album a sensation was an understatement. Rave reviews started coming out, stating that Héctor's warm voice reminded listeners of home and warm sunrays, and how one can feel the heartache and longing for his family from the way he strums his guitar alone, even if his voice is not as strong and commanding as de la Cruz's. His grito is oftentimes said to be addicting and infectuous as well, with some claiming that they ended up doing it along. Others lamented over "what could have been" after listening to Rivera and de la Cruz's harmonizing and clear-as-day dynamic as a duet.

It not only solidified Héctor Rivera's legacy (thus directly affecting Héctor's overall health in the Land Of The Dead for the better), but it also largely improved the Riveras' overall economy with royalties from Héctor's never-before-seen music, in addition to the already booming shoe-making business and Miguel's own efforts as a musician. All because Miguel decided to steal a guitar that turned out to be rightfully his.

It is safe to say that Héctor Rivera is now considered one of the greatest songwriters and poets in the history of Mexican music.

Won’t lie, I am incredibly disappointed in Doctor Who’s choice to make Yasmin Finney’s new character be named Rose. The fact that in his post about it RTD defines her as just “another Rose” - like did he really not learn his lesson already?

I don’t care if she’s from a parallel Earth. I don’t care if she’s Rose Temple-Noble, and therefore Donna’s daughter like some people are speculating. I don’t care if it’s just a random fluke (though I doubt that). The fact is, Russell already went down this road in series 3, when he constantly had characters compare Martha negatively to Rose, and in the specials, when he named the Next Doctor/Jackson Lake’s companion Rosita, and had Ten remark “good name”.

Stop. Comparing. Black Women. To. A White Woman.

All people are going to talk about is Rose Tyler, and how this new Rose is like her or not like her, how much they miss the old Rose, how much they hate this new Rose compared to Rose Tyler, why couldn’t the “real” Rose have just come back instead, etc. If she is actually Donna’s daughter as some theorize, then plenty of other fans will just be talking about Donna, and her sad ending, and how her friendship with Rose was so amazing and profound it got through the mindwipe and so on. The point is, they will be talking about two white characters who have already had their time to shine instead of the new Black character, just like in 2007 with Martha’s run. The show had finally gotten to the point where it didn’t need to reference Rose Tyler every five episodes, and now that RTD’s back he’s just swinging the pendulum completely the other way.

Freema did not go through so much racist, sexist abuse for him to just get away with repeating this on another actress. And Yasmin will have it worse, because she is trans. People out there on the internet are already going to be posting or sending disgusting, vile things her way, and reigniting the “Rose Tyler vs New Character/Companion” debate is just going to make it so, so much worse. The fact that in the show’s canon, Rose Tyler treated the only trans woman she ever met (Cassandra, who was an extremely transphobic caricature written by RTD and portrayed by a cis actress) with derision and disgust, calling her “not human” and saying she “would rather die than live like [her]” is either going to embolden some transphobic fans or be desperately swept under the rug by the production team. If I see anyone on tumblr making transphobic or racist commentary about Yasmin Finney, whether blatant or a thinly-veiled dog whistle, I will be blocking on sight.

Some people are speculating that this Rose is going to be the new companion to Fourteen. And as amazing an actress as she is and as awesome as it would be to have a duo of Black actors headline Doctor Who for the first time ever, it would be an awful idea to kick off this brand new era with a companion who shares the same name as a previous one. A lot of folks have said it already, but this obsession with RTD’s first era as showrunner is frankly putting the show’s forward momentum in a chokehold. If people can’t get over the past and enjoy new characters and stories and themes (and they don’t have to enjoy all of them! I certainly haven’t over the years), then the BBC may as well have just canceled the show again. It’s running on the fumes of nostalgia, and David Tennant isn’t going to save the ratings by coming back once a decade. If people refuse to care about any other Doctor, then I say just let the show die.

Yasmin Finney seems genuinely excited to be joining the show and working with RTD, whether it’s for this one 60th anniversary special or for something longer-term is yet to be announced. But she deserved so much better, and Black women and girls both cis and trans deserved so much better, than to be overshadowed by a white, cis woman yet again.

alright, you've been warned. WELCOME BACK PEOPLE!!! i am so happy to be doing this again, it's been a long wait for 11c but it's finally here. i cannot begin to explain how excited this release has made me, and i'm really excited to just enjoy these final eight episodes.

EPISODE COMMENTARY TIME!!

i got a solid 30 seconds into the episode and i was already bawling. it might just be finally getting a new episode, but hearing judith's voice and seeing the flashbacks made it all really reminiscent. this really is the end.

aaron and gabe's friendship is so refreshing, i love watching them interact with each other, it's such an interesting dynamic.

0:13 : There is just something super meta about Daryl holding Carver at knife point in front of Leah. Not sure what it is yet, but if we’re to believe LC, Leah and Carver have some kind of romantic history.  

0:14 : What is Carol wearing? That’s not her green jacket is it? This was my exact thought process while watching this shot:  “Leah’s hair really looks like Carol’s there. Oh, wait. That’s Carol’s hair. Carol really looks like Leah there.” 

0:17-18 : Who’s this new woman with Negan and does Maggie tell Hershel about Negan?

0:23 : We’re led to believe Maggie is going to march up and kill Leah. I’m not convinced yet that she’ll succeed, but maybe she shoots her in the leg or something. If they’re going to make a big deal of the so-called tension between Maggie and Leah, that’s going to annoy me a little bit.

0:27 : No, but seriously how many new characters are we going to introduce to take away screen time from the ones we barely get to see as it is?

Overall, 11B looks like it might be just a little bit better than 11A. Am I basing that largely on the fact that Carol is more active in the trailer? Maybe. Probably. But also, I do think we will get more Caryl interactions. They’re in the same location this time, so that’s a step forward. Now, one would logically think their interactions will also be meaningful so they can start building up to their departure. Can’t wait to find out what that looks like.

Twd spoilers 11x10

You know I didn’t hate this episode as much as I expected to. Some reviewers seemed to hate it. But I’ll just post my incoherent commentary from the episode.

- Uncle Daryl is the best version of Daryl and you can not change my mind. Who would’ve thought that this hot tempered red neck from S1 would be the greatest dad ever come s11

- RJ and Judith own my heart. Rick and Michonne better come back and see what beautiful children they have created

- Carol working in the bakers? Love it. That legend deffo played down her skill set in processing.

- Also I think a lot of people are reading too much into the cookie scene? Like where Carol takes one over to Daryl and he hands it to RJ? A lot of people were saying that was him rejecting / deflecting her offer of friendship but like??? I literally don’t think it’s that deep. Judith came and brought a cookie, Carol grabbed another and took it over to where Daryl and RJ were, Daryl gave it to RJ. Because like… RJ is a kid… and kids like cookies ???

- Carol and Daryl’s conversation was short but sweet. Daryl is 100% not comfortable at the commonwealth at alll

- Connie and Kelly are the dynamic duo as always. I love them.

- Carol being all impressed with Connie and her work was sweet. I love their friendship.

- And Carol pushing to Daryl to ask Connie to the dance and then Daryl’s deadpan face and sigh speaks VOLUMES.(honestly Carylers, we are chilling. This scene was funny). He doesn’t even respond. He just tells Carol he has to get to work and that he will catch up with her later.

- Daryl and Rosita?? Honestly I missed their interactions. I love their friendship too.

- Also can we note how suddenly Daryl is being back to the one being pinned as the “lone wolf” type. Last season it was Carol and now it’s Daryl.

- Ezekiel giving Jerrys kids Shivas collar and chain made me cry for some reason

- Carol and Zeke scenes were also wholesome. She still cares for him and THATS GOOD!! Her little act to get into the hospital was hilarious. I love her

- Also Carol just girlbossed her way to the top of the social ladder by getting in with Lance.

- Lance took one look at Carol was in love (me too bitch, me too)

- Like did you see the way he was smirking at her? That man was scared AND horny.

- Judith making friends was so cute

Sing 1 Commentary and Review Pt. 1

Like I said yesterday, I will be giving commentary through out the run of the movie here! Is this an elaborate plan to distract me from my fic being with my beta reader? Yes! Am I using it for content? Also yes! I will try to remember to include timestamps and screenshots. But probably will just end up doing screenshots most of the time, sorry. Welcome to the madness!

(There will be multiple parts because these take a while and also there's a limit of thirty photos per post so yeah. I got 9 minutes in? I talk a lot during movies ok? It's an AuDHD thing.)

I feel like now is as good of a time as any to mention that I despise minions (aka was forced to watch Despicable Me in art class way too much as a child). So yes, we're not even past the opening credits and I'm already complaining, welcome to watching a movie with me everyone.

Ok just noticed this for the first time, but Old Moon Theatre had lyres (a symbol of Apollo, the Greek god of music) and grape vines (a symbol of Dionysus, the Greek god of theatre) on it, which is just super cool!

I love the fact that Buster canonically talks to himself and narrates his own life. Like same bestie. Love this for you. You're in your delusion era rn but go for it mate.

Ok, so the piglets are definitely around first grade judging by the alphabet and number chart on the wall. Also, a learning chart on the wall is so cute and sweet, I love it!

(Theory) So... we can all agree it's summer right? Because not only are Johnny and Meena home (ok Meena's home, Johnny's being a felon, but that's not important) at lunch time but so are the piglets. They for sure aren't in school yet. And yeah, I know they leave with backpacks later on but that could just be daycare (it's likely daycare). So, since a lot of daycares aren't open on weekends (or at least ones near me), Sing 1 starts in the summer on a weekend! That's cool!

Awwww Rosita. I'm so sorry honey. I love you, we all love you, and I wish I could say you have a normal, relaxing life after this movie but... I'm sorry. Not even close to one.

I don't care if one of the singers is a grammy winner, you don't stop singing just to listen to them. It is a group effort. Either everyone sings or no one does. It's the birthday song rules people. They really put her on the spot here and I do not appreciate it, the poor baby.

So, Meena has tried out for choirs and bands before but it never worked out. That makes me think her social anxiety is not new and I am very much disappointed with her grandfather's perspective on it.

Ok, let's talk about the implications of what Eddie is saying here. He says that his dad has been paying for the shows. And Buster's theatre has been struggling for way more than one or two shows.

And I don't know about you guys but I personally wouldn't pay for my adult kid's friend's failing theatre more than once if it turned out to be a bust. It's a waste of money and have you seen today's economy. Now if that was my kid's partner? Different story. I would probably be more willing to pay for a few more for both of their sakes.

And all of this over a Muppet who the park claims was just saying “no” with a hand gesture to holding a child. So, Doña Rosita la soltera! As Federico Garcia Lorca’s plays go, it’s got probably the least subtle symbolic language (not that he really goes for subtlety in his plays, he saves the opaque stuff for poetry) because it’s literally subtitled “the language of flowers” and had a bunch of extremely blatant flower symbolism. But I think it serves as a nice intro into Lorca’s writing style. The gist of the play, like many of his plays, is “wow women sure get screwed over men and society! kinda fucked up huh”. The title character, Rosita (la soltera means the single woman), is engaged to be married to her cousin who goes to visit his parents in Argentina or something and then never comes back. For like 25 years. But keeps sending her letters promising he’ll totally come back to marry her real soon! so she never marries anyone else and her life ends up being on permanent hold. The majority of the play consists of Rosita, her aunt and uncle, the housekeeper, and various female friends having a lot of inane conversations and it’s sort of a comedy with some fun “eat the rich” content and general social commentary. One of the families they socialize with has lost their main source of income after the death of the father, leaving the widow and her three daughters with some sort of pension only. The widow, however, is very proud of the fact that they “haven’t fallen in social class” and then immediately follows that by saying that they have to choose between new chairs in the hallway and having eggs to eat, and they choose chairs. Like. What! Also, another friend of the family teaches at a school where they can’t punish the rich kids for anything cause their parents are paying a lot of money, which just goes to show that private schools have not changed at all in 100 years, lol.

So. Metaphors. The principle metaphor in this play is a bit boring - there’s a special rose in the uncle’s garden that lives for a single day and blooms red in the morning, fades to pink at midday, becomes completely white in the evening, and the petals fall at night. This is an obvious metaphor for aging, but specifically in the context of grief: the white rose is described as “the white of a cheek of salt”, and salt is typical shorthand for grief (tears are salty; so is the sea). The rose also represents love, of course, and Rosita’s waning hope over the years that her betrothed doesn’t actually come back to marry her. (Also, Rosita is literally “little rose”, Lorca please).

But my favorite recurring metaphor of Lorca’s is the sea - in La casa de Bernarda Alba it represents freedom, sex, and death, according to my reading, but here I think it represents that freedom (for men) goes hand in hand with grief (for women). There’s a great bit of foreshadowing early on, when Rosita says to her betrothed “I long to see you return/one evening to Granada/with all the light salty/for nostalgia of the sea”. Ultimately, “the sea” (i.e. his travel abroad) will end up more dear to him than she is, and he never will return to her as she hopes. I love the imagery of the light being salty, because it suggests that all the world is colored by that grief/longing, like it’s filtering through stained glass or something.

We get more use of water to represent emotions that can’t otherwise be expressed. In the second act, Rosita and some other female friends sing a song that includes the lines “a thousand flowers say a thousand things/for a thousand lovers/and the fountain is narrating/what the nightingale keeps silent”. Here I think we’re actually departing a bit from talking about Rosita specifically, and I think you can really easily read a queer subtext into these lines. Flowers and nightingales are the classic, heteronormative languages of love, but there are some things they can’t express at all, which are left to the fountain, whose water represents a curious mixture of freedom and death. This is given more significance in that it immediately follows one of the single women saying “There are many who don’t marry because they don’t want to,” to which another woman replies “I don’t believe that,” and the first woman says (with intention, according to the stage directions!) “I know it very certainly.” To me this suggests that First Single Woman (almost no one in this play is named lol) is lesbian (or aroace, but the following bit of song about feelings that the nightingale keeps quiets suggests to me that her disinterest in marriage is not due to lack of any romantic interest).

What I like about Lorca’s rural plays is that, combined, they draw a complex portrait of all the women left out of conventional heterosexual marriage and thus excluded from fully taking part in life due to the way heterosexual marriage defines people’s social and economic life. Either barred from marrying by a controlling mother, or married but childless and trapped in a house with nothing to do, or strung along for years by an absent boyfriend who finally marries someone else without telling her, Lorca’s female protagonists express immense frustration with their lives, “turning circles and more circles in a cold place, seeking an exit which I can never find” in Rosita’s words, before seeking refuge in suicide, murder, or numbness. It’s surprisingly feminist for a man writing in the 1930s, but I think Lorca has a level of insight into these experiences due to being also on the outside of heterosexual society and thus writes them with a lot of sympathy (even when they do, y’know. murder) (that’s Yerma. different play).

When Negan woke up and Michonne and Rick explained to him what was going to happen, he didn't really care. Sure, he was taking a big hit to his pride but he was more worried about one thing: her. Was she alright? Where was she?

Only because of all those doubts did he shut the fuck up and listened in silence as Rick told him he was going to rot in a cell. But the thing was, his mind was somewhere else, not able to get his thoughts off of her.

Maybe this was for the better... maybe she'd be better off without him. Maybe now she could fall in love with someone who deserved her, someone who wouldn't have six other wives to make her jealous. Maybe now she could have someone else who would put her above anything else and wouldn't have to keep her love life a secret from everyone else like she was doing something wrong.

Who was he trying to fool?

Just the thought of her being with someone else made him feel sick. She was his, completely and utterly his.

He spent a few hours there, just thinking. Rick and Michonne left, but after some time, Rick was back to check on him, maybe paranoid that he’d get a way out. And now he felt a bit stronger so he could talk, and ask about his girl.

But it wasn't even necessary.

"She came here, asked to see you." Rick explained after some minutes in silence, like he knew exactly what Negan was thinking. He looked up to him from his location right next to the door, leaning on the wall. He was confused, his brows furrowed. "She was sweet. How could you trap someone like her?" He asked, scoffing. Negan clenched his jaw at his commentary, knowing he was right. "Poor girl."

He couldn't speak too loud but he still sounded dominant through his raspy tone. "Where is she?"

Rick raised his eyebrows, looking out the window. "I sent her away. She must be back at The Sanctuary already." Rick explained and stayed in silence a few seconds. "Did you... Did you really love her? Because," he looked at the ceiling. "Because she really does love you."

Negan didn't answer. Of course he loved her. But he didn't owe any answers to Rick.

"She okay?" Negan asked.

Rick looked at him for a few seconds. Negan's expression changed from angry and dominant to a begging one. He needed to know. "…Please." He whispered, to which Rick arched an eyebrow. Negan saying please as he begged for answers. Not something you'd see every day.

Rick didn't really want to give him answers, didn’t want to feed his whole expectation of any future. But he had mercy. Again.

"She asked for me to give you this." Rick said as he held a letter in front of Negan, folded in four, the paper wrinkly. He desperately wanted to grab it, but was reminded that he was handcuffed to the bed when he was yanked back while trying to get a hold of it. "Want me to read it to you?" Rick asked.

"No." Negan quickly answered. He didn't want Rick touching anything that belonged to her. "Give it to me."

Rick looked at him with disgust for a few seconds, but finally did place it on Negan's left hand, the other one being wrapped in bandage. Negan waited, looking back at Rick with a deadpan. He wouldn't read it in front of the prick.

Rick took the hint and as he was about to walk out, he said; "…She seemed heartbroken. But I am still not letting her see you. She'll be better off without you." And with that, he walked out and left Negan, who was clenching his jaw with hatred, completely alone again.

Negan tried not to pay any attention to Rick's words, even when deep inside he knew he was right. He shrugged it off and managed to open the letter with only one hand with maybe too much trouble, then proceeded to try to read it in his position, eyes squinting.

Love I really hope Rick gives this to you. Or at least read it to you if you are too weak. "Weak", that's something I know you are not. So please, please make it out of this. I still don't know what they are planning on doing with you but they wouldn't let me see you, and I understand. Negan, I am okay. You don't have to worry about me, I'll be fine. We, the saviors... we'll be fine. I have Lucille. I picked her up and won't let anyone else touch her, you can be certain of that. I know how much she means to you. You will always be my greatest love, the man I admire and appreciate the most, don't let anyone make you think otherwise. I will wait for you, and I will help you shave your beard again, and I will make you lemonade, and I will let you tickle me (I know I said I hated it... but I didn't), and I will sleep on the left side of the bed. Nothing will be the same without you but it will be once you are back. I love you, Negan. So much. Be patient

It had her name and a little heart at the end. Negan's eyes were watering. He quickly stopped himself from it. She was so perfect, and he was fucking her up. He couldn't continue on doing this to her. The damn woman was always an angel to him and he never, not only once, did he give back to her a little bit of everything she gave him.

Still, his selfishness was bigger, and he would not let her go. He would accept on her waiting for him. Even when Rick said that he would never get out of the cell.

She calmed him so much with just some words. He was realizing now... that he was really caught up on her. Her head didn’t even stop to think about anyone else but her, even the news about Lucille caught him off-guard since he hadn’t even thought about the bat.

But he couldn't do anything but wait till Rick had a very good day and somehow let him see her.

For her, the situation was... harder. Since everyone saw her kiss Negan and take Lucille with her, she had been almost shot at with questions, her friends divided between scared, confused and interested. She came back to The Sanctuary with the other saviors and everyone wanted to know how that happened and for how long it had been happening. But she was too sad to say anything yet.

She felt okay as she wrote to Negan, or at least, she was able to pretend that she wasn’t in the verge of tears every five minutes. Looking around, Negan's wives had gone back to their real husbands, none of them missing Negan. She wished she could be like them. She knew Negan’s actions weren’t the best, that he was practically stealing from all those communities, and maybe, just maybe did he deserve it. She wished she could hate him, just like everyone else seemed to do now.

She ended up driving to The Hilltop with Tara and Rosita a few days after. She said she had to talk to Rick, and didn’t stop asking and shooting them with the request until they let her come.

She was introduced to Rick in a very, very awkward conversation. She tried hard to hate him or despise him, but she couldn’t. Empathy was all that she could feel. It still didn’t change what she felt for Negan.

She really tried to convince Rick on seeing Negan, but he just wouldn't let her.

At The Hilltop, everything was different. They didn't look at her with curiosity like at The Sanctuary, but with pity and sadness. Like as she had been kidnapped by the big bad wolf. She hadn't. She had fallen in love willingly, knowing what came with Negan, like the wives, battles, wars... and this attention from strangers who knew her as 'the woman who loved Negan'.

Rick let her write a letter, and promised to give it to Negan. Her only choice was a piece of wrinkled paper that some worker let her have after too many requests. She could only hope Rick was a man of hi word and that he would do as he said, and had no remedy but to go back to The Sanctuary and try to put her life back together.

But the memories were hunting her. And they were hunting Negan too.

They had a strong connection, a connection they weren’t aware of. He would think about her, and she would think about him. Hugging his pillow and trying to keep his scent there, as he looked at the ceiling and remembered her laugh, every night right before they fell asleep.

Love is patient, he reminded himself. He would wait, he would get out of that place, and he would go back to her. He had to.
