I used to do this thing where I would take a list of characters that I liked (such as Star Wars characters) and then I would take a list of roles from a musical. Then I would get a random generator and use that generator to randomly select the characters I had chosen and cast them as random roles in the musical. As if they were being forced to play those characters and I had no control over who they were cast as.
Things could get pretty hilarious. you could have something like Han gets cast as the spouse of Vader and C3PO gets cast as their child.
So I thought I had never really done it with the sequels characters so I decided why not? I did it With Hamilton because that’s a musical most people know but I could do other ones in the future. It turned out even funnier then I could possibly have imagined.
Now without further ado
HAMILTON BUT PURE CHAOS
Our Star of the show is none other the Snoke
And who is his rival that will eventually best him in a duel sending him to his death?
Princess Leia Organa! And honesty? Good for her. (All the extras are storm troopers)
Now who is the famous, Faboulous, Marquis De Lafayette…. it’s Pryde… ugh
Suddenly Lafayette is no longer cool
Now who are Snoke and Pryde’s Besties? Phasma is now Laurence (so she dies 😔) and Kylo is Mulligan, honestly I can see him as mulligan
So this friend group is just the first order? Good to know
Now who is the responsible, put together, and not reckless at all, general to lead them all?
It’s Han Solo playing George Washington! So in character right? Now he’s Snoke’s mentor and president of the United States… interesting
But there’s always a loyalist so who gets to be my beloved Samuel Seabury?
Armitage Hux! I was actually very happy with this paring I literally a wrote a parody to farmer refuted from Hux’s POV a few weeks ago, it’s just so funny
Now who is the King that Hux is so graciously supporting, the antagonist of the whole story? Well it’s none other then Poe Dameron, everyone’s favorite imperialist
And of course Snoke still needs more enemies, so who is the incompetent general that sucks so bad he gets left behind?
Charles Lee is now Luke Skywalker! “I’m a general WEEEEEE” But I mean hey man not everyone can say they got shot by Phasma in a duel.
and of course we can’t forget Snoke’s big act 2 rival Thomas Jefferson who is being played by none other then C3PO!
and Jefferson is nothing without his best friend James Madison played by Dopheld Mitaka!
Honestly this one is a pretty good casting
Now here’s where it gets interesting… if it hasn’t already…
The Schuyler Sisters
Yeah you saw that right, forget Angelica Eliza and Peggy, Now we have Palpatine Rey and Finn! So that not only makes them sisters but it also means that Snoke and Rey are married and have children which is a terrifying thought
And not only that but it also means that Snoke and Palpatine were in love but Palpatine let him marry his sister instead but they still continue their emotional affair through the letters they send to eachother
Aren’t snoke and Palpatine basically the same person technically???? I guess they have a type
but of course, we can’t forget the Schuyler sisters wonderful father Philip, oops sorry I meant Thanisson
so yes somehow Thanisson is the father of Palpatine Rey and Finn. Makes sense? No? Perfect, moving on
Speaking of Philip, Snoke and Rey’s Aforementioned child of the same name, is now being played by Rose Tico
Which means, as you can see in this photo here, she dies in her duel with George Eacker. But who might you ask is George Eacker?
It’s BB-8 of course!
Because BB-8 decided to shit talk snoke he got in a duel with Rose, and won. BB-8 kills rose.
Now there’s something missing, we all know the story, Snoke can’t stay faithful to his wife. so who is the poor soul that has to play Mariah Reynolds? A woman being used by her husband to extort snoke by having her keep up an affair with him?
It’s Cardinal, I’m so sorry. He isn’t prepared for this 😭 this image is so cursed. Funny enough though Maria is known for wearing red.
Anyway who is Cardinal’s manipulative husband who is blackmailing snoke?
It’s Brendol Hux, James Reynolds is Brendol Hux. I’m so sorry Cardinal but this is perfect casting. Truly and ass hole in every universe
and of course who is the doctor that is just trying to keep shit together through this whole play? BEHOLD THE MIGHTY GONK!
(I couldn’t find any pictures on Google of the doctor)
If you got this far, I hope you enjoyed it and are severely disturbed!!! Let me know if you’re interested in me doing more.

Context
Rey and Ben switch sides
Throughout the movie, Ben demonstrated a more Jedi like stance, while Rey is prone to anger, takes the quick and easy path and fights like a Sith. So instead of truly doing something subversive, by making the heroine a villain and having someone we thought was the villain fight to bring her back to the light. DLF is once again too cowardly to take risks with this trilogy and sticks with the status quo by having Ben stay with the darkside and Rey as the Jedi, cause godforbid we try something different.
So what if instead of Ben revealing Rey's parents were "filthy junk traders" Snoke reveals she was Palpatine's labrat. "Tell me dear child. Did you know the Empire fell at the battle of Jakku? Of course you do. What's not common knowledge is Palpatine's secret laboratory on Jakku. Constantly trying to create the perfect apprentice to replace Lord Vader and his final experiment was deemed a failure. Kept in suspended animation...until pathetic junk traders thought they could make a quick buck. To their disappointment. They found a child. You. Palpatine's labrat."
And this revelation causes Rey to lose it. Ben helps by using Rey's lightsaber to kill Snoke, the throne room fight happens and that's when the turn happens.
Ben decides he wants to save his mother and the Resistance. Damn Snoke and The First Order. All the dark side brought him was misery. He should have left with Han when he had the chance.
And all Rey wants to do is burn it all down. "The Jedi. The Sith. The First Order and the Resistance. Like you said, it's time to let the past die." They fight for the lightsaber, the Holdo manuver happens and Ben leaves first.
Rey kills Hux.
Ben, Luke and Leia reunite and make up after so many years of hurt, betrayal and remorse.
Luke and Ben fight off The First Order.
But something is terribly wrong.
In the amidst of the battle, Rey returns and is enraged at the site of Luke Skywalker and unleashes the full power of the darkside on The First Order.
Luke tells Ben to protect his mother and the Resistance.
Luke sacrifices himself. Tells Rey he's failed her and he's sorry. Rey can only scorn Luke.
Rey goes in for the kill and that's when she realizes he was never there.
"I will always be there with you Rey, just as I should have been as your master. Don't be what he made you to be."
And all Rey can do is breakdown and cause a force scream strong enough to leave a crater.
Ben, Leia, Finn and Poe work together and plan to bring Rey back and save her from herself.
Rose and Poe switch roles
TLDR; version.
Finn is a child soldier who knows the horror of war. Poe is the one who needed to see that this war is not as black and white as he believes it to be and actually be confronted with Slip's death and in turn both Finn and Poe liberate a camp of freshly recruited child soldiers and the master codebreaker.
Rose actually has history with Holdo. If you read the novel TLJ:Cobalt Squadron. You will know it ends with Rose serving on Holdo’s ship the Ninka. Now imagine this. Rose just lost her sister and Holdo is withholding information that is vital to the Resistance’s survival. Rose is kept in the dark and believes this will be the end of everything and doesn’t want Paige’s sacrifice to be in vain. So Rose covers Finn and Poe’s escape to Canto Bight and works with Connix and those loyal to Poe and leads a mutiny against Holdo. Remember. Holdo didn’t just leave Poe in the dark, she left THE ENTIRE RESISTANCE in the dark. So Rose would lead the mutiny and Leia would awaken to stop her, only Leia would not stun her. Leia would talk Rose down, ya know, like Leia would actually do.
Kylo cuts Rey's hand off
After Rey refuses his hand, Kylo simply lets Rey get her lightsaber and uses Rey's feralness against her and cuts her hand off and severs her lightsaber. Kylo leaves Rey while he takes her hand. "I have everything I need."
In Episode IX from this scenario, we would find out Kylo Ren used dark side alchemy to clone a Dark side Rey from her severed hand.
Captain Phasma actually does something.
My better use for Phasma is basically making her obsessed with killing Finn.
Make Phasma a deranged individual obsessed with capturing and executing Finn. Phasma is basically Captain Ahab and Finn is her great white whale to chase. She flies her own personalized Chrome Tie Interceptor. She is hunting Finn to the ends of the galaxy. Each battle they face she is there ready for him, every time he isn’t there, she kills every Resistance soldier there. Phasma is losing it, Hux is worried, but both Snoke and Kylo believe this will be beneficial in destroying The Resistance. And finally she finds him on The Supremacy. Finn and Phasma go head to head. finally on equal levels and in this moment it happens. Finn’s old comrades come, Finn believes this is the end, but to his surprise they shoot Phasma down. Phasma is knocked down in the ruins of the Star Destroyer. But Phasma makes her escape with Hux.
As for her role in TROS, I would have Finn reveal the truth to everyone that she disabled the Starkiller shields and after Finn convinces the Stromtroopers to rebel.
Finn and Phasma fights. Finn wielding a Lightsaber, while Phasma wields a Darksaber. Finn's brother in arms helps him and as Finn has her at his mercy. "You were always scum."
"I'm a Jedi" and then Finn decapitates Phasma, ending her reign of terror.
Rose Tico the spy.
There are two ways we can play this. The sympathetic way and the evil way.
The sympathetic path.
Many people thought Rose was going to be a Lando type figure right? Well let's remember, Rose was heartbroken about Paige and what happened to her world. So let's say Hux made a deal. Put the tracker on the Raddus and deliver FN-2187 to the Supremacy for execution in exchange for The First Order to end the occupation of her homeworld of Hays Minor. Only, The First Order is not the Empire, it's worse. So when Rose asks if he'll end the occupation, what Hux does is give her one tiny rock. "A deal is a deal" Rose looks horrified…"what have you done" "that's all that's left of Hays Minor, The First Order does not deal with Resistance scum" Rose is horrified and broken, whatever hurt Finn felt from Rose's betrayal, she is now his only hope off the Supremacy. So Finn and Rose help each other because they now both know what it's like to lose everything to The First Order.
The villain path
First of all. Rose Tico was Paige’s sister. The real Rose Tico died prior to the battle of Starkiller Base and was replaced by the changeling(like Zam Wessell) known as Rosita Thorn. Her mission? Infiltrate The Resistance, place the hyperspace tracker on board The Raddus and bring the traitorous FN-2187 to either be reconditioned or executed for treachery.
Meanwhile, Holdo tells Poe while they are isolated. "There is a spy on board. It is a changeling, who can turn into anyone. I kept you out of the dark because I didn't know if I could trust you. But now I do and our plan is to escape." Meanwhile Holdo's people finds a dead body. The real Rose Tico and then Poe realizes Finn is alone at the spy's mercy.
Upon arriving on The Supremacy, Rose signaled Hux and Phasma, which causes their capture. As they get captured. While Finn and DJ are forced on their knees, Rosita shows her true colors as she shoots DJ and salutes to Hux. “Just as planned, my general”
Her mission was a success. Finn only managed to escape due to the Holdo maneuver.
She becomes the right hand and lover of General Hux
Rosita would keep the appearance of Rose Tico because she’s grown “accustomed” to Rose’s face. Only looking more regal, wearing her hair down and wearing First Order uniforms.
Next Hux and Rosita plan to kill Pryde and after Kylo Ren and Rey kill The Emperor. Hux and Rosita will kill the traitorous Kylo Ren, Rey and then FN-2187, thus securing their and The First Order’s dominance over the galaxy. Long live the Supreme Leader and his Empress!
Grand Master Luke,
I feel like you can have the great character arc of TLJ, while also being badass like he was in The Mandalorian.
First have it be ANAKIN, not Yoda who helps Luke out of his slump.
Have Luke lift the X-Wing from the water.
When Finn about to make his sacrifice, and suddenly, we hear the blast of an old X-Wing destroying the siege cannon. Thus saving Finn, Rose and The Resistance. Finally we see Luke and Leia’s moment. This time it actually holds meaning because Luke is actually there. And then we would see the bulkhead open and Luke enters.
Kylo Ren orders every ship to fire on Luke AT-M6’s all firing but to everyone’s surprise, all blasts stop frozen in midair. Luke wipes the salt off his robes and sends the turbolasers right back at the AT-M6s and TIE-Fighters. Brings down the transports and Kylo’s shuttle. Kylo descends from his crushed shuttle, throwing a tantrum and preparing preparing to kill his uncle. We have a real lightsaber battle between Luke and Kylo. Luke has his green lightsaber. Their blades clash. Their dialogue remains the same, but Luke is there. Luke is toying with Kylo, similar to how Vader toyed with him on Bespin. Luke and Kylo’s exchange remains the same. “I failed you Ben, I’m sorry.” “I’m sure you are! The Resistance is dead. The war is over, and when I kill you, I will have killed the last Jedi.” “Amazing. Every word of what you just said was wrong. The Rebellion is reborn today. The war is just beginning. And I will not be the last Jedi.” ”I’ll destroy her, and you, and all of it.” “No. Strike me down in anger and I’ll always be with you. Just like your father.” Kylo then shouts “NOOOOOO” but more dramatic When Kylo makes his dramatic slut ™ lunge at Luke, but Luke embraces it like Obi-Wan did and becomes one with the force.
He dies with peace and purpose and most importantly refuses to give Ben the victory he craved for and mocks him by saying he will always be with him.
Luke spreads Leia's message.
Towards the end of the film, two of the Resistance members tells Leia, “Our distress signal’s been received at multiple points, but no response. They’ve heard us, but no one’s coming.”
After waiting two films to see what any of this means to the galaxy, the only response we get is literally nothing. Nobody cares, nobody’s coming. For all we know, this planet could explode right now, wiping out the Resistance and the First Order, and the entire galaxy would be better off. They have no impact on anything of actual importance, like children fighting in a sandbox.
In my mind, much of the bitterness in my mouth by the time the finale came up could have been washed away with one simple change (technically two but who cares):
Luke does his “See ya around, kid,” line and vanishes, followed immediately by a massive fleet appearing in the planet’s orbit. Ships of all different sizes and shapes, from countless planets throughout the galaxy, uniting and standing up to the First Order for once. They don’t even have to attack, just show up and fire a few shots to blow up a few walkers or something as the First Order retreats in a panic. Luke also isn’t dead. Instead of just buying 3 seconds to retreat deeper into a cave, we find out that he appeared as a “force hologram” to several major leaders in the galaxy, calling them to arms. He then bought the Resistance time to hold out until help arrived.
This gives SEVERAL intriguing leads for the next film.
We see the galaxy fully united against this threat. To see a legitimate fleet and to see that the galaxy really does give a shit about what’s happening, would literally be the first hopeful thing we see in this entire goddamn trilogy that’s supposedly all about “hope.” Think something on the level of the Rohirrim and Gandalf riding in at the end of Helm’s Deep.
Luke is alive and now rallying people to stand up to the First Order. His meager prank is supposed to inspire the galaxy? If you want to inspire them, you NEED to put in more leg work than that. We need to see that Luke gives a shit and has truly accepted the mantle he’s been rejecting the entire trilogy. His final act in this film could be EVERY BIT AS MEANINGFUL without him just giving up and dying afterwards, if not far more so.
We can see how desperate the First Order gets in the third movie. After taking so many beatings, this militant faction seems to suffer no actual losses. To see them reduced to guerrillas in need of a last resort - to see how dangerous they can be at their most desperate - would be a refreshing and interesting twist on something that has now been done to death.
Lando the Master Codebreaker
Let’s look at Maz’s description for the Master Codebreaker “He’s a master codebreaker, an ace pilot, a poet with a blaster.” That sure does sound like fucking Lando to me. It still baffles me that they gave us a casino planet in TLJ but then chose to not include Lando in that setting although he was introduced as a gambler back in TESB. Lando is the person Finn and Rose are meant to meet, the one in the Indiana Jones type tuxedo and has the a red plom bloom. Only, Finn and Rose actually parks legally and doesn’t get stupidly arrested. Lando is on Canto Bight to grieve in his own way for Han, but also because he’s doing a stakeout on Crime Lord King Prana(played by Benico del Toro and King Prana was set up by being the guy Han was gonna sell Raftars to) Finn and Rose help Lando out and in exchange, Lando helps Finn and Rose in their quest to disable the Hyperspace Tracker. We also get to see Lando and FInn both grieve for Han. So yes, Lando would be able to disable the Hyperspace tracker, but Phasma would catch them on their way to the escape pods.
Or my other use of Lando.
Lando brings the remnants of the New Republic after hearing Leia’s message. After Leia’s signal and Luke’s sacrifice, Hux informs Kylo Ren that they have the Falcon in their sights(keep in mind they have their fleet in orbit) a massive fleet appearing in the planet’s orbit. Ships of all different sizes and shapes, from countless planets throughout the galaxy, lead by Lando Calrissian flying his flagship the Lady Luck! Uniting and standing up to the First Order for once. They don’t even have to attack, just show up and fire a few shots to blow up a few walkers or something as the First Order retreats in a panic. Prior to Luke’s sacrifice. we find out that he appeared as a hologram to several major New Republic leaders in the galaxy, calling them to arms. He then bought the Resistance time to hold out until help arrived. Together with Leia’s signal and Luke’s message. New The Republic is united in facing The First Order.
Rey and Luke vs Kylo and Knights of Ren.
The rumored scene we all wanted. Kylo uses his newfound connection to Rey to find her and summons the Knights. She will not escape this time.
Rey in the meantime helps Luke to reestablish his connection to the force, alongside the force ghosts.
And then they arrive.
Rey fights the Knights, while Luke fights Kylo.
The fight is raw and full of emotion, but it ends with Kylo wounding Luke and abducting Rey. Meanwhile The Resistance has a space battle above led by Leia and Snoke via Battle meditation. Leia's will vs Snoke's might. The fight for her brother and Snoke's fight to snuff out the light. It ends with the Twins reunited by the vow to save Rey via training Finn.
Leia sacrifices herself
We had no way of knowing of Carrie's unfortunate passing. But I feel like it should have been Leia.
Leia should have been the one to destroy Snoke's ship with a final sacrifice. It would have closed her story on both a badass and meaningful note, dying to save her rebellion.
They should have done it so that she didn't have long to live anyway due to her injuries from the bridge explosion and exposure to space. With all that, she decides to give her friends a final escape. Before doing so, she could have reached out to Luke with the force for a final goodbye, the same way they communicated on Bespin in the Empire Strikes Back. This would have reminded people that communicating via the Force over long distances has precedent.
This act would have inspired Luke to actually come out of hiding, raising his X-Wing from the sea and coming to help the new characters.
It would have also made the Mary Poppins scene at least a little more worth it, seeing as she flies through the hologram of Snoke's ship, setting up the sacrifice.
As for how Holdo fits into things? Both Poe and Holdo get their heads out their asses and learn to work together for the Resistance, the Republic and for Leia!
Finn is never in a coma and goes with Rey to Ach-To
Rey and Finn travel to Ach-To together. Finn is never placed in a coma. Shocker, they are in a futuristic setting and give Finn a cybernetic spine and Finn makes a full recovery! Finn goes with Rey...like he should've in the first place!
Luke trains Rey and Finn to become a Jedi. Rey and FInn’s optimism and dedication reminds him of himself. Finn is proven to have what it takes to be on the path of a Jedi, meanwhile Rey is struggling and is giving in to her rage and passions. This leads to the force bond between Rey and Kylo Ren and leads Kylo and the Knights Of Ren to Ach-To. Rey, Finn and Luke face Kylo and the Knights Of Ren. Rey willingly goes with Kylo to save Finn and Luke and the rest of the story is about Finn saving Rey no matter what the cost
Anakin, not Yoda greets Luke
Yoda appearing to Luke in TLJ to tell him “failure, the greatest teacher is,” is bullshit. Yoda never learned this lesson to begin with. Yoda is the last person who should be saying anything like this to Luke.
Let’s see
Treated Anakin like a burden ever since Anakin entered the Council chambers as a child
Refusal to trust Anakin. As a child, he was told he would be a problem and Yoda and the Jedi’s refusal to nurture Anakin because he was “too old” to be indoctrinated by their code was their undoing. There is a quote that sums up the Jedi’s cold reception to Anakin perfectly. “The Child Who is Not Embraced by the Village Will Burn it Down to Feel its Warmth”
Refused to let Anakin to free his mother, one of the things that played into Anakin’s fall(Isn’t it weird and by weird I mean hypocritical that the Jedi found value in saving Clones, who were made to be disposable, but they couldn’t be bothered to save Shmi, Anakin’s actual mother?)
Is perfectly fine helping Ahsoka with her vision of a loved one dying, but suddenly Anakin needs to let go
Dude was okay befriending the most evil guy ever but he had no compassion or even a kind word for a 9 years boy who was about to be returned to slavery? Fuck him! For that and for allowing the Order to remain subservient to a known corrupt Senate that allowed slavery and organized crime to grown unrestrained.
Raising students who capable of only blindly following him (“One did not argue with Master Yoda; in the Jedi Temple, this was learned in infancy. No Jedi ever forgot it.”) and for creating a community that ostracized anyone who didn’t perfectly fit in.
He failed generations of students, he failed the Order, he failed the Council, the Senate and the galaxy. Yoda can be traced as the source of everything that went wrong (internally) with the Order: their coldness, their false detachment, their corruption, etc. He was the common denominator in 900 years worth of religious, political and educational stagnation. Yoda’s inability to change and question himself doomed the Order (and the galaxy with it)
Even worse, Yoda intended to die without explaining that Vader was his father to Luke. In a deleted scene Yoda says “Obi-Wan would have told you long ago had I let him…..” Basically, Yoda had forbidden Obi-Wan from telling Luke that Darth Vader was his father. Luke was then trained in the Jedi arts to eventually face and kill Vader with the intention of never disclosing the important detail of Luke’s paternity despite Obi-Wan’s apparent objection to the idea. This revelation reveals Yoda is actually a self-serving dick who puts the means to an end above morality while redeeming Obi-Wan for the reasoning of why he lied to Luke about his father.
Yoda did not learn this lesson. Yoda refused to see his own faults or the faults of the Jedi of old. Yoda did not earn this moment.
You know who would have been the perfect person to tell Luke that failure is the greatest teacher? His father, Anakin Skywalker. If anyone deserved that moment, it was Anakin Skywalker. Both because this should have been his chance to speak with his son AND because when someone is the embodiment of the failures of the Jedi Order, they’re really the one best qualified to call out the bullshit of that organization. Anakin would’ve been the best person to tell Luke to confront Kylo, his grandson. He knows failure more than anyone. Failing to save his mother, failing to save Padme, his failure into giving into the dark side and his fall. Anakin would’ve told him. “It wasn’t your fault what happened to Ben, I’m asking you to come back and save your sister, my daughter. Leia needs you. You never gave up on me. Don’t give up on your friends, your sister or even yourself. You saved me when I thought all was lost, there is still time to make things right. Remember you are a Jedi, like me. Not the last of the old Jedi, Luke. The first of the new.“

Did I imagine things? Rose Tico wonders. For a moment she thought to have heard the voice of... a long missed voice. And not just Armi's voice, but specifically his lopsided singing.
But her boyfriend is dead, executed by the New Republic. Armitage cannot even return as a ghost, as that is unheard of for non-force sensitives. His essence has returned into the Force, destined to create a new life somewhere else in a new form and more thoroughly memory-wiped than a droid.
Knowing this, seeing a leaf in the exact tone of orange her beloved's hair had been in front of the window pains Rose.
Only the "leaf" really is a thatch of orange hair bound into a braid, hanging over unusually pale skin. And Rae is snuggled up to the wearer, perfectly trusting.
Overwhelmed by the sight, Rose does what comes the most natural: Reach out through the window and PULL at the braid.
One "Yelp!", a long embrace accompanied by several proto-speech sounds and a generous amount of tears later, all with the baby between them, Rae gets handed back to her mother.
Armitage: "Rebel-scum through and through, your mom. And if "rebel-scum" is not your first word, then you're disinherited on the spot, but no pressure!"
Rose: "I never thought to ever see you two both with my eyes open. It was only ever either Rae or the memory of you."
Armitage: "You named your... my... our daughter Rae?!"
Rose: "Finn suggested the name - when we believed you dead for a few months and he slowly realized that he, too, was kinda missing you. I knew you'd have like the name."
But there is only so much information to be exchanged before limbs go jittery and the tears set in again. The parents set Rae down on the porch that is warmed up by the autumn sun and then cling to each other.
Armitage: "I didn't mean to make you sad. Or angry. I didn't mean to play that dirty trick on you. None of that matters, of course, since all of it happened regardless of my wishes. You have all the right in the world to be mad at me now."
Rose: "It's not that I'd never cried because of something you did as the General. But the pretend-execution wasn't your fault. Or was it? Were you in on the scam, Armi?!"
Armitage: "I wasn't. I didn't know what would happen."
Rose: "It's over. Do you hear me? No more dabbling in ruling the world, no matter how well you think you can "improve" the First Order. You're going to stay right here, raise little Rae with me, build crazy shit and snark at the city council when they complain about it!"
Armitage: "Agreed! I do have that mental image of sending the Chancellor a used diaper with best regards. But that's as far as this will go."

There was a post about the dearth of f/f stories on Ao3, and yes, I feel that. There was a post about it I responded to, and I wanted to take the time to express my own thoughts more fully.
First, I don't think anyone should write anything they don't want to write. Fanfic is for fun. You should write what's fun for you. I don't generally write m/m or f/m couples. I've read both fanfic and published books for both which have been wonderful but as a sapphic woman my general preference is to write stories that are f/f. I don't feel obligated to write m/m or f/m; there are plenty of other writers out there who are doing a great job with that.
Second, nobody has to like a character. If one routinely dislikes most or every character who is a woman/gay/BIPOC I do think that may point to something significant about bias the person might want to explore, and if one holds these characters to unreasonable double standards vs. the white/heterosexual/cis/male characters that also speaks to bias. And don't even get me started on whitewashing; when a character is clearly BIPOC and he's mysteriously white in every piece of fan art, things that make you go hmmm. But no, if you don't like a specific character, nobody's holding a gun to your head to make you change your mind.
Where there is vast room for improvement, though, is the way women in some fandom spaces actively try to tear down female characters and ships. It's not enough for them to dislike female characters; they have to ensure that everyone knows it every day, and that anyone who feels differently is completely excluded from the fandom.
I've been in fandoms where women fans have actively tried to get female characters killed off, removed from the story, given less screen time and fewer lines because oh noes, the camera isn't focusing on their male blorbo for two seconds, or another character actually gets to take the lead. I've been in fandoms where fans have gone out of their way to harass people who do appreciate women characters and ships and alienate them out of fandom spaces. And in such cases the fact that wlw might actually like to see relationships and characters who reflect their orientation is dismissed as something unimportant. I've seen message boards where people who hate female characters rant about every bit of screen time, every line, over and over and over again even in topics that have fucking nothing to do with that. I've seen Tumblr posts trying to appreciate female characters where these fans immediately jump in and try to railroad it to their male blorbos.
Does that have a chilling effect on f/f and fandom of female characters? I'd be hard pressed to say it doesn't. Who wants to be in fandom spaces if you're going to be trolled? How can fandoms flourish in that environment? In addition, if you've screamed enough to get the writers to reduce female characters' roles - as they did with Rose Tico in Star Wars, for instance - those characters have much fewer chances to get good story arcs and lines, and to develop in ways that would make them more engaging and might actually attract more fans and writers.
Don't write f/f if you don't like it. Don't read it if you don't like it. Why ruin it for those who do?
You make the fandom you want, on some levels - you block and TumblrSavior the trolls, you curate your experience, you create a safe enclave. Having said that, if there was less aggression against f/f fans from their own fandoms, one could imagine there would be more people willing to write f/f.

The Last Jedi AU: Ignore whatever’s supposed to happen or where people are in this movie. Paige Tico is foiled in her attempt to release the bombs that would take out the First Order ship. Her ship is boarded and she’s taken onboard the Star Destroyer as a captive intelligence officer, but before she’s captured she’s able to relay a covert message to Rose telling her what happened.
Instead of the diversion to Canto Bight, Rose is the one with the knowledge of splicing into Imperial ships and she and Finn impulsively plan to jet over to the Star Destroyer in an escape pod Rose had been experimenting with a cloaking device on, the two of them breaking in on their own.
Finn finds Poe to tell him of Paige’s capture and his and Rose’s plan. Poe knows that he can’t condone or contribute resources to it and knows for a FACT Leia won’t allow it, despite the fact Paige is a friend and the same rank he is. He’s torn between getting her back but needing to stay and lead, so he he tells them to take BB-8 and does that Mr. Incredible thing where he tells Finn and Rose what “NOT” to do to get into an Imperial flagship, him planning the distraction from the outside and still screwing with Hux over the comms and keeping eyes turned his way as Finn and Rose sneak onboard to find Paige.
Can you imagine if like they manage to get into some labs while they’re doing recon and Finn senses something? Can you imagine him hesitating as they move, telling Rose they have to go back while she’s hissing for him to keep moving? Her either hacking into the tech to redirect First Order troops away from their location, or going off to find her sister herself while Finn stays behind? Finn finding schematics and draftings alongside old codexes and scrolls before eventually coming to the humming, fractured kyber crystal in the next room, hanging suspended in midair above the equipment? Realizing as he’s digging through the odd mix of both scientific and semi-magical texts what it’s for, but that Ren hasn’t been able to force it to conform to his needs, too unstable to be housed even in his own lightsaber? Finn starting to configure and piece things together even as Rose tells him they’re running out of time?
As they’re sneaking around, gathering pertinent information to the plot and finding Ren’s plans for Rey and Skywalker, they’re nearly caught— Surrounded by First Order troops and with seemingly no way out, Rose and Finn prepare for the worst, when all of a sudden one of the troops goes rogue and eliminates all of their fellow officers instead. Paige Tico managed to escape and had disguised herself, just happening to be lucky enough to run into them in the lower levels. Paige tells them of some of the other rebel prisoners aboard the ship she was planning to break out, and the three of them, finally united, start plotting their means off Ren’s flagship when they overhear Hux in the corridor talking about Ren meditating in some inner sanctum with an order to be left alone with his own retinue on pain of death as he searches the Force or whatever for the location of Rey and Skywalker
Back onboard the New Republic ship Poe and Leia confer with the other generals as to what the Sith’s next move is going to be when they receive an incoming transmission from Kylo Ren himself.
As Kylo Ren and Leia Organa face off in what was to be their last confrontation, the tone and gravitas of their conversation somber, something flickers over the feed, and everybody on the New Republic ship’s bridge sees a blinding arc of light as one of the First Order troops behind Ren steps out of line and carves a blade of shimmering green in a downward arc directly behind him.
Outraged and caught off guard, Ren blocks the attack with his own blade, both lightsabers flickering with different energies, and as Finn’s voice shouts over the holo Poe realizes that not only has Finn given them an opening to hit Ren’s flagship, he may have even been able to stop this war in its tracks.
#sequel trilogy#Finn#Poe Dameron#Rose Tico#Paige Tico#Kylo Ren#Leia Organa#star wars au#I just…….. did not like the plots of the sequel trilogy movies that I DID see#Haven’t seen Rise of Skywalker#The other two just weren’t good#The whole Canto Bight sequence was silly#The idea of trusting Benicio Del Toro was ridiculous#Poe’s weird storyline#Just. All of it tbh#Iknow it seems like I make a lot of ‘This Character Lives! AUs but have you considered#Using characters more effectively in the beginning of stories can lead to more meaningful deaths later when you DO use that as a plot point#And like with this you can obviously be following Paige’s escape and sneaking around the Star Destroyer in between Finn and Rose’s scenes#as well as Poe’s scenes#Idk what Rey’s doing. I thought the writers’ and directors’ use of the OG characters was disappointing and ooc#So I don’t… especially care about Rey if I’m honest#Finn should have been the Jedi#and/or Rey should have been a Kenobi#‘‘Or’’ a lot of things#Lot of ways you could have done those characters#hounds speaks

I absolutely loved this beautiful Star Wars Fanart of the FinnRose ship of the characters of Finn Calrrisian and Rose Tico together and especially because what I really love about him is the fact that in it we see Finn with Rose after she will wake up after having been in a coma because of her injuries that had been made during the battle on Crait's planet I like to think that Finn would not have left his side fearing the idea of losing it if he did but at the same time because even though I am aware that Reylo's ship is also present in it, I especially wanted to show you FinnRose's ship and above all because I really like to imagine that Finn would have fallen deeply in love with Rose during his mission together on I sing Bight's planet but also because I like to think that after he defeated The First Order and also the Sith Lord and evil Emperor Palpatine in the battle of Exegol's planet then it would have happened that at the same time that Finn began his Jedi training together with Rey to form a new Jedi Order at the same time would not have hesitated to be together with his beloved Rose and above all because I am in favor of both together and above all because I really would have absolutely completely liked that we had seen them become a Canon in the Star Wars movies but above all that both would have stayed together as a couple and had had a beautiful family together... sincerely
By the way, this beautiful Fanart of them is not mine and the credits are not for me, but unfortunately I can't leave you the link of the true creator of this beautiful masterpiece on Tumblr because apparently he deleted it and if you ask me I don't understand why I would do something like that but fortunately I managed to rescue the fanart in time

Part Eight
Eventually they did venture back inside to where Senator Solo was waiting for them.
To ensure his own immunity, Hux offered a few high-ranking officials to the Senate’s criminal court as bargaining chips. His enemies and rivals, most likely, Rose thought, miffed she wouldn’t be seeing Hux himself arrested and brought before the tribunal. If it meant securing peace, she supposed she’d have to live with the disappointment of Hux remaining a free man.
“The final article involves ongoing relations,” Solo said. “Both parties shall work in peaceful cooperation to prevent future conflicts and to promote stability and security in the Outer Rim.”
Rose nodded. “If the First Order adheres to their concessions, we will honor our own.”
Hux threaded his fingers together upon the table, wearing a serious expression. “It won’t be the Order who first breaks this covenant. If your Princess approves, then we are in agreement.”
Rose glanced towards Solo “General Organa has given me full signatory authority on her behalf.”
The Senator nodded slowly, gaze inscrutable as he slid the datapad toward her. All they had discussed, bargained over, written out in basic, line for line. Rose felt a lump rise in her throat.
Signing her name and rank, her fingers felt oddly heavy. All those who had given their lives were finally being put to rest; finally honored with an official end to the conflict.
When it was Hux’s turn, he paused, just for a moment, stylus hovering over the pad’s illuminated surface.
Rose tried to imagine what he might be thinking. A sense of defeat? Of finality? Or maybe relief; that this fight, this chapter, was finally over.
Rose leaned slightly forward. “General?”
Her voice stirred Hux out of his musings as he penned his own signature, quickly setting the stylus aside. He looked up at her with grim determination.
Was that really it? Rose wondered as she held his gaze. Had they done it?
Senator Solo gathered up the datapad. “I will be submitting this to the Senate in the morning,” he said to the table. “With any luck, it will be ratified before lunch. You’ll both stay, of course, and be on your way tomorrow.Congratulations."
Rose eyed Hux as he stood from his chair.
“Excuse me,” he said curtly, bowing shortly before taking his leave, melting into the dark shadows of the apartment as he withdrew to lick his proverbial wounds.
Rose understood. It was a lot to take in, what just happened. With her own heavy thoughts, she bid goodnight to the Senator, retreating to her room. Rose sent a quick message to Leia and the others, sleep eluding her.
Lying atop the bed, her blaster resting within arm’s reach on the bedside table, she took to staring at the ceiling and thinking of Paige: how much she missed her, and how proud she’d be of her little sister.
---
Unlike the evening storm that had heralded Rose’s arrival, the morning in Coruscant was bright and glittering.
The Senator and his Jedi bodyguard escorted them to the spaceport, where they lingered waiting for their perspective transports to arrive.
Hux looked even paler in the daytime. Rose had a difficult time refraining from ogling that striking hair of his all the way from the Senator’s apartment.
“I thought it’d feel different,” she admitted, looking skyward. “I thought I’d feel everything… shift somehow.”
“Everything /is/ different,” Hux said, checking his chronometer. “The entire galaxy will feel the repercussions soon enough.”
Now *that* was a sobering thought, Rose mused as her ship dipped down out of the cloud line.
“Well, then I guess this is goodbye, General. Can’t say it’s been fun.”
One ginger brow twitched up. “So sure our paths won’t cross again, Tico?”
“Stars, I hope so,” she said with a laugh, unsure even then if that were true. *Someone* would have to keep tabs on him, and she'd be lying if she said she wasn't morbidly fascinated to see his next move.
Hux stuck out his gloved hand.
She returned the handshake, his grip firm and sure in a way that shivered down her spine. The corner of his mouth lifted.
“Well done, Commander.”
“We’ll see, won’t we?”
That smirk of his grew.
“Yes. We certainly will.”

The worst part imo is that it happened to more than one of the prequel actors (Hayden, Jake Lloyd, Ahmed Best...) and it went on to happen to Kelly Marie Tran and John Boyega, who played Rose Tico and Finn in the new trilogy.
What a heartbreaking history of hate... over a sci-fi franchise. Those actors are real human beings trying to do their jobs. I can't imagine sending them hateful messages, let alone racist messages. People truly suck.
That being said, I'm happy to see prequel actors getting some love!
Let’s talk about this:
This is heartbreaking. To have spent years rejected by a community/fandom and to have finally been embraced. I have always loved Hayden as Anakin and Vader. He’s always been perfect for the portrayal of these characters. But to see and hear that someone just wanted to be embraced, and waited 20 years for that. I wish Hayden had been loved more widely from the start. He deserves it. I’m so glad others are finally opening their arms to him, but I’m so sad it took this long.
#sorry i'm rambling so much today. my brain is not quiet#but when ahmed best appeared in mandalorian i was smiling so hard! he's wonderful! i love him#and every hayden scene so far has been a delight#star wars

HELLO AND WELCOME to savesgalaxy, a st.ar w.ars multimuse written by en! they/he, 26, gmt+8. rebooted may 2023. blog is currently a wip. private & selective. 21+ only rules and muse info | memes | other blogs: @hopegained, @hopebore, @pastkilld

rules
First and foremost, hi! I’m En, 26 years old, Southeast Asian (GMT+8), and a full-time student with ADHD. I won’t always be available to write and am very slow to get to it, but you can always chat or plot with me on Discord or through IMs. Dark topics including, but not limited to, violence, trauma, depression, and war (obviously) are gonna be ever-present. As for spicy/smutty things, they’ll be tagged as ‘nsft.’ and I will ONLY write them with muns I’m already familiar with and put under read more or on discord. I tag triggers using 'trigger tw’ and ‘trigger cw’. I won’t hesitate to block you if you're homophobic/transphobic/islamophobic/racist. This is non-negotiable and frankly, you can leave if you don’t agree. If your posts are untagged and uncut, there’s a high chance I won’t follow back. It’s nothing personal, I just don’t like a clogged dash. Basic rules on godmodding apply. I will ask for your permission regarding any decision that may involve manipulating, killing, or maiming your muse(s), so I expect the same courtesy from you. This blog is iconless for the most part; it's too much effort to make icons for every single muse. My formatting is just single small text, with bold and italics sometimes. If you find it hard to read, please let me know! I’ll adjust accordingly. While we’re still on that subject, I find posts that are (typed) like this (with double spacing, too) distracting and straining on my eyes. I may remove that type of aesthetic on my end when necessary. Plotting and memes are the best ways to interact with me. They don’t have an expiry date, so send them in whenever! I have my favorite ships for my canon characters as do most people I’d imagine (and I will default to established/heavily implied ships in most cases!), but that isn’t to say I’m not open to ship with other muses. I’m always here for more interesting dynamics! There must be chemistry of course, so if you’ve got an idea of a potential ship, just let me know.

Eternal Emperor Vader au
Imagine that Darth Vader and Luke worked together to kill Palpatine like Rey and Kylo did.
Vader cements himself in the dark side by killing his master. Luke and Vader declares a peace that would last as long as one did not attack the other. The Empire regrouped and retreated into the Unknown Regions under Vader's leadership, while The New Republic is born.
The New Republic was born and began to heal the galaxy. Luke's new Jedi Order was founded. Mon Mothma as the Chancellor with Leia as Vice Chair. Han and Lando are the Ministers of Defense and Chewbacca is Ambassador to Kashyyyk. The New Republic did not demilitarize their fleet. They instead build and improve their fleet and build Star Defenders to combat the Star Destroyers. To defend their systems, fight the criminal syndicates and prepare for the eventual upcoming war with Emperor Vader.
The Empire is rebuilding it's strength after the defeat at Endor. Thrawn, Gideon, General Veers and Sloane are Vader's inner circle. Vader killed Rax the moment he learned of Palpatine's contingency plans. Vader found Galen Marek and turned him into his apprentice, his Starkiller, the final Inquisitor. Eventually Vader found Exegol. Killed Palpatine and took the Final Order's Sith Fleet for himself. Anyone and everyone loyal to Palpatine is dead. The Empire has become The New Sith Empire. On Exegol, the SIth Temple was reopened, similar to how The First Order abducted children for the new Sith Order.
The Sith have begun to infiltrate the New Republic which begins a cold war between the Sith and the New Republic. Then one day, the day that destroys everything Leia has built. The revelation that Darth Vader is Leia's father. Leia is shunned from The New Republic and this very event is what tips the balance to making this cold war hot.
Ben Solo's betrayal. Ben feels betrayed. All his life he was told the good man that his grandfather was. Hero of the Republic and Jedi Knight of the Jedi Council and that he died sacrificing his life to save the Jedi from The Emperor. He was lied to and he was consumed by rage and betrayal. Luke attempts to stop Ben's anger, but Ben attacks him and leaves him for dead. He gathers his 6 best friends and together they kill the New Jedi Order and venture to find Emperor Vader.
Ben Solo and his fellow Jedi become Kylo Ren and the Knights Of Ren and Vader's Elite Sith Warriors.
Luke flees to Ach-To. He has failed. The war that he was dreading is here and he has himself to blame for not telling Ben the truth.
Out of guilt and shame for failing his son. Han leaves to be a smuggler again. Hoping one day he can make things right with Leia and bring their son home.
Leia lost her son, her father has returned to wage war on her and destroy everything she has worked so hard to build, her brother went into hiding and Han left. Leia has no choice but to lead The Resistance.
Same things that happen in canon happens, but differently
Finn is abducted by The Sith Empire, but not by Phasma. By Iden Versio. Because Operation Cinder never happened, Iden never defects. Iden becomes what Phasma became, only she's a die hard believer and Finn and his squadron is the next generation of Inferno Squad
Poe Dameron is the son of Rebel heroes and is NOT a drug smuggler(fuck you JJ) he is taught by his father.
Rey is left on Jakku, but not because it was done to protect her by junk traders. It was done because her parents were scum. Her father was rejected by Palpatine and left to die and marooned on Jakku. They had Rey, but had nothing. They saw no value in Rey and sold her so they can get off of Jakku. Rey in a fit of rage kills them with the dark side. The trauma of it cuts Rey off from the force and represses the memory.
Paige Tico is the Y-Wing Bomber in Poe's Squadron and Rose Tico is the Intelligence Officer in The New Republic
Kylo Ren, Julian Veers(Veers' son replacing Hux) and Iden Versio are this version of the First Order's Triumvirate
Kylo Ren and Starkiller are at war with each other, each covet the throne from Vader and all they are waiting for is one sign of weakness and they will kill each other for to become Vader's heir.
However there is one thing that could turn the Empire against Vader. A cult of Palpatine loyalists lead by Snoke escaped Exegol and have one mission. Find the true Emperor's granddaughter. Train her and help her become the Empress and destroy the Skywalkers and bring a new age of darkness to the galaxy.
Or can the heirs of Vader and Palpatine come together and bring balance to the force and end this war and the eternal struggle between light and darkness?
I'd say Episode VII is about Vader's return and the beginnings of the war, bringing Han and Leia together, Han's death at the hands of his son, Rey/Finn vs Kylo, but ending with Finn finding Luke. What about Rey? After defeating Kylo Ren. She heard a voice. "Come find me Rey and find your belonging and your rightful place in this galaxy" Rey went to Snoke, while Chewey saved
Episode VIII. Allout war. After the destruction of Hosnian Prime, The New Republic joined forces with The Resistance and declared war on The Sith Empire. The connection between Rey and Ben is formed. But this gains the attentions of Starkiller. Starkiller saw the weakness in Kylo after his defeat at the hands of the scavenger, but now his sentiment just gives him the need to kill Kylo Ren once and for all. Poe and Paige are on the frontlines. Rose works with Leia to discover a way to disable the Xyston Class Star Destroyer lasers in order to prevent as much destruction as possible. Finn is able to pull Luke out of his exile. How? You see, Finn is Luke's son. The Sith Eternal abducted Finn before Luke and Mara could act. The abduction of Finn and the revelation of Vader being Anakin being revealed galaxy wide is what left Luke open to Ben's betrayal. Now that Finn is here, Luke knows he has to make this right. He spends the rest of the movie training Finn. Rey finds her way to Snoke. Snoke reveals the truth to Rey and this shakes her to her very core. One thing that Leia did not count on. Vader has arrived. He boards her ship like he did so long ago. She allows Rose to escape, while she confronts her father. Vader gives her a chance to surrender and join the dark side, it's the only way she can see her son. Leia takes her Lightsaber "I'm a Jedi, like my father once was" "So be it. Jedi" and so we get Vader vs Leia, while Rose enacts the plan to destroy the Xyston-Class fleet. Think the Mass Shadow Generator from KOTOR II, that is EXACTLY what Rose does. Kylo Ren and Starkiller fights in Fortress Vader. while Rey fights Snoke. Kylo Ren kills Starkiller to assume his place at Vader's side. Rey kills Snoke to free herself, she thought she was free until she hears a sinister voice. "You done well, my granddaughter." Meanwhile In the fight between Vader and Leia. Leia proclaims that she knew he was a good man, that her mother loved him, but that man is dead and all that's left is Vader. Vader aims to kill her and Leia gives herself to the force like Obi-Wan. Luke and Finn comes to the rescue and the New Republic rallies behind them. Vader and Luke have a staredown. Finn meets Rose, Rose is in awe of Finn, but Finn is just as in awe in Rose after Poe told her what she did, they congratulate each other and shook hands, a sure sign of friendship and something more. Finn feels distraught. They saved everyone, but they lost Leia and Rey is still missing. Luke tells his son "we have everything we need"
Episode IX. The battle of Coruscant. Stormtrooper Rebellion and the fate of the galaxy. Luke vs Vader. Rey vs Kylo vs Finn. Finn, Poe and Rose work together to stir up a Stormtrooper Rebellion. Finn faces Iden. When Iden has Finn down where she wants, Rose shoots her and Finn cuts her down with the lightsaber. Together Finn and Rose free his brothers and sisters. Ben has conflict. Despite everything he's done, his mother's death changed everything. She lied to him, but he still loved her. He thought his true place was by Vader's side, but this bond with Rey helped show that it's not too late that he can still come back. But Rey changed, she shut him out completely. Ben goes to Finn. Finn is defensive, but senses this is not the same man he fought on Starkiller Base. The final battle between the New Republic and the Sith Empire takes place over and on Coruscant. Luke faces Vader, while Rey and Ben face Empress Rey. Killing Leia changed Vader. a light he never thought possible was there. Luke tells his father it's not too late. No one's ever really gone. For once in his life. Vader shows remorse. Then suddenly force lightning. Empress Rey seeks to finish off Luke and Vader. Ben and Finn are there to try and reach the real Rey. For a brief moment, Anakin Skywalker returns. He takes the essence of Palpatine within him and tells everyone to end it once and for all. Rey, Finn and Ben kill Vader and Palpatine, ending the war once and for all. The movie ends with Lando as Chancellor and signing a peace treaty with Thrawn and Sloane. Finn and Rose get married, Luke rebuilds the Jedi Order. While both Ben and Rey go on a path of atonement to right their wrongs and a ends on a kiss in the Falcon.

I love how you wrote each dynamic!!!!
Hi!!!! Would you be able to write some headcannons for the Star Wars Sequel Quad (Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose) finding out that their younger sibling has been taken by the first order, saving them, and then helping them with recovery?
Of course!!
Found on MASTERLIST 10
Rey
No more Ms Nice Jedi!! She is there on the front lines at all times looking for you and pulls you into the tightest hug when she ultimately finds you. She’s so supportive and gentle with you as soon as you return back home with her
Finn
Is a complete wreck but tries to keep himself focused on finding you and bringing you home, is a sweet brother who always checks up on you whenever and wherever
Poe
Channeling all his big brother energy into commanding orders on how to find you, where to find you. Tries to tease you with a “can’t get rid of me that easy” as a joke, but he’s just glad to have you back.
Rose
On the inside, she’s a heartbreak mess. On the outside, she’s channeling all that frustration into looking for you and can’t help but cry of relief when she finds you. She lost one sibling, she’s not losing another

What's the difference?
A gingerrose sims comic created from the Halloween prompt at @gingerrose-hub. Thank you for coming up with this, that was fun to do!
34 ABY. Less than a month after the battle of Crait.
The free city state of San Myshuno on the planet Komorebi is one of the few places where members of the First Order and the Resistance can tread, even mingle. At least in theory.
In practise a high ranking officer can buy a place like Stargazer lounge for himself and the payment he has to make is a confident posture and a couple of implied threats.
General Hux has done so today, "for privacy", as the lounge's proprietor has understood. "And for a major privacy violation", the General had added, leaving little to the imagination what the pool, the bar and the couches would get used for.
Everyone has their secrets. In most cases they are secret lovers. Poe Dameron, most likely.
It is a Resistance fighter, indeed, who exits the elevator a while after the General has arrived, that much the locals have guessed correctly. But it isn't Poe, and they haven't come for a rendezvous.
"So you came. I knew you would."
"Huh?"
"I said I knew you would come investigate what I'm up to up here. Although you really shouldn’t have."
The man's typical arrogance is readily apparent in his voice, but something is different today, Rose notices. Hux stance is much more relaxed than the Resistance has ever seen him. The fury of the First Order isn't out to hunt today, the predator isn't hungry right now, and therefore allows himself to playfully claw the curtains.
(Spoilered for length)
And indeed, the man's expression that accompanies his next words is more wistful than sneering.
"Do you hear the notes in the rain? I detest it, yet I cannot deny that it offers certain benefits."
Like concealment, Rose wonders? That could get easier achieved by means that don’t come with catching a cold....
"To make it perfectly clear: You shouldn’t have come to the Supremacy, Commander Tico."
Rose approaches the General like in a trance. Just before reaching the man, she takes a seat, but she hasn't fully snapped out of her dazedness. Is leaving humans dizzy a property of Komorebi's atmosphere? Is there more to the General's words about the rain carrying a tune?
Just when Rose starts to listen, Hux changes the topic from music to folklore:
"Have you ever heard them? The scary tales of creatures biting people, turning them into the same creature? That’s not how it works for the rabid dog of the First Order."
Rose is shivering. Her throat is dry despite the rain. All this downpour, yet so little water on her skin! Where has that thought come from? Why'd she want more rain on her body?!
Hux looks at his index finger as if there were still a trace of the cut this woman's teeth had dealt him. But there isn't; the mark on his palm is from a different, more recent, accident.
The only proof that the encounter in the Supremacy's hangar has happened is not on Hux' body, but elsewhere.
"Did you ever wonder why I wear gloves most of the time? They protect the skin from minor scratches. From blood spilling into the environment. Where the vermin would sustain themselves on it."
"Stop that! I haven't come to exchange polite trash talk with you!"
"Then what do you have come here for? How did you know? Tell me, for I don't - cannot - know what it feels like! I was born... er. Anyway."
"What's happening to me, Hux? Why have I come here? Not to this place, but specifically to YOU?"
"You're dying."
The sound of an umbrella getting closed and discarded, and a coat dropped.
"Afraid? I can put an end to it."
"Put an end to YOU."
"Oof... Looks like I caught myself a carp worthy of a Life Day feast!"
Rose reaches for her backup weapon, the trusty shocker, but then hesitates. Water and electricity do not go well together. She better finds another way of taking the General out. To this end she has to escape the grapple first - Rose throws herself into the exact direction Hux is pushing her, leaving him standing by the poolside empty handed.
Of course that still ends with her going under.
*nods to himself*
Rose gasps for air, but the moment she inhales, she has to cough. Her newly acquired gills are already taking care of providing the body with oxygen filtered from the water. Breathing in too deeply only hurts.
"Huuuux...?"
But of course. While Rose's pants are drifting in the pool shredded and the vest has suffered a large tear, too, General Hux' shirt and legwear are made from a material that would quickly dissolve in water. Rose can watch it right in front of her eyes, as she can also watch Hux transform, the same change she has underwent just now. Only for the First Order General it doesn't come as a surprise. To the contrary, he moves as if shedding a disguise and donning his actual clothes.
Always prepared and always equipped with only the best of everything... It is difficult to imagine the mess of insecurities that is going on under the hood of this oh-so calculated person.
Hux resurfaces. For a few precious moments there had been calm below the surface. Now there is the pesky rain again.
But there is also… something immensely beautiful.
"The black suits you. It brings out your fierceness!"
"What did you do to me?!"
"Nothing. You brought this on yourself when you bit me."
"It's just the way it is. How things work for my kind."
"Your kind... So this isn't an affliction, but your species?"
"It's kind of both. The Resistance knows the tidbit about how my father "found" my mother "in the academy's kitchen", yes? Well, she was to be the main course at that year's graduation party! Of course things then took a different turn."
"What about "dying"?"
"That was a real risk. If you hadn't found a suitably large body of water in time, you could have dried out. And of course the bond between progenitor and fry leaves the latter confused. I'm told they ended up as meals a lot in the past."
"Confused? Sais the one merman in the galaxy, who is afraid of rain!"
"I'm not afrai... eeeeek! Cut that out!"
"Hahaha!"
"I'm not afraid! I'm APALLED by the rain. It's cold and tickly and indecisive, always going where the wind drives it, not at all like the sea!"
The image of two koi swimming together is widespread in Komorebi culture. If they could see the two visitors from outserspace now, the locals would take the sight as a sign of good fortune.
He plans ahead, she controls a situation. He knows why things work, but cannot bring them alive in the real world. She can improvise, but her lack of understanding of the theory limits her unduely. Ironically she keeps in the background, whereas he positions himself prominently, but when in doubt, she chooses to attack, be that with a weapon or words, while he prefers to stealth himself.
Each has was the other needs.
They both think about the larger world, but where she has grown up to respect others because she has received the same respect from the moment she had started breathing, he envisions an all-encompassing, feared law to stop people from hurting each other (well, him, specifically).
"So that's why the others don't respect you, no matter what you accomplish. The First Order is even more human-supremacist than the Empire was. To them you're just a fish."
There's more to it, but the Resistance (let alone the Republic) is probably not aware of the huge generational conflict between the surviving imperials and the younger officers. And him being a literal fish hasn't done Armitage's social standing any favors indeed.
Tico's sympathy - or whatever it is the insurgent is expressing here - makes the fishman bold. In an unsual bout of playfulness he replies:
"What am I to YOU?"
Rose' answer feels like the rain - cold, itching in uncomfortable ways and leading down a road he doesn't want to tread:
"A monster."
What now?! Hadn't Tico just implied that she didn't care about him being a fishmonster?
"Enlighten me - what's the difference?"
"You didn't CHOOSE to become a fish."
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
Since it would have been a spoiler at the beginning, I'll put the prompts used last: I got Stormy city, Mer-creature, You shouldn’t have come and Secret Messages, but swept the last one out for Biting.
On a sidenote, none of the imperial officers' kids (Hux, Mitaka, Trach, Kandia etc.) "chose" their path. They were all cut off from the outside world and indoctrinated from birth no less than the stormtroopers. It would have taken exceptional willpower to withstand that. Rose in my regular story understands this!

🌹🌹🌹tell me of your wips dear
@batmantaking-hobbits2gallifrey
Ohhhh, Elli, you do not know what you have asked for.
I now unleash Silmarillion-esque deep dives upon you!!!!
Three Roses, three WIPs…
So you will get information about three of my WIPs, and here we go!
I’m so happy to talk about these.
Benjamin Solo and the Shadow of Death
This is a Reylo and Gingerrose (Armitage Hux/Rose Tico) Grantchester/1950s AU where Ben and Armitage, formerly Kylo Ren and The General, the most feared enforcers of the Knights of Ren, are now Church of England priests after a St. Paul-esque come-to-Jesus moment.
However, their past is coming back to bite them in the ass, throwing a wrench, or rather, a spanner, into every aspect of their lives.
In this story, Rey is the vicarage’s industrious housekeeper, and Rose is the town mechanic’s daughter, a mechanic herself, while Ben is the Vicar and Armitage the Curate.
This story started as an imagine I sent to @galacticidiots, but then I couldn’t shake the idea, and it percolated for nearly two years, until I decided that, like Gandhi said, I had to “Be the change [I] wish to see in the world”, and write the darn thing.
This was/is a passion project for me, and there were moments that I was so worried I’d end up abandoning this story, but luckily, I’m stubborn as all heck, so I plowed on through months of writer’s block.
But despite all the frustration this story gave and still gives me, this story has also given me so much joy, especially when the scene bits (both for Armitage, actually) which I was so proud of and came up with in the two years where the idea lay percolating, made it in the story, which literally made me do a little happy dance in my chair.
Those bits would be the scene where Armitage gets engine oil on his shirt, and Rose tells him to take it off so that she can soak it in her family’s secret formula of stain remover (*snort* yeah, I went here), in this chapter, and the scene where Armitage kicks the town drunk’s ass after he shoves Rose to the ground, in this chapter.
And while this story is still very PG-13, at the end, this is going to be the steamiest thing I have ever written, with use of very, very tasteful fade-to-blacks.
I actually have one of the two fade-to-blacks written (it’s so romantic), with the other one a problem-for-future-Nadia, though the idea is nebulously present in the electric meat.
I am personally so proud of my characterization in this story, and I think that this story was key to my growth as a writer.
It forced me to stretch both my research skills, with the 1950s setting, and my writing skills, as it made me write scenes which I never thought I would ever be able to pull off.
And it still is stretching my writing skills, because I have some very tricky scenes to work through in the upcoming chapters, which will have elements that I do not think are my specialty.
But when this is over, this will be, I think, one of my most favorite stories I’ve written.
I’d like to think that this story has everything, with romance, action, snappy dialogue (I think this story has some of the best dialogue I’ve ever written), comedy, and drama.
(Divider via @delishlydelightfuldividers)
Okay, let me preface the next two WIPs with saying that I never thought I’d end up writing them.
But honestly?
I probably should have seen it coming.
Almost two months ago, I watched “Top Gun: Maverick”, and I absolutely loved it.
And I tried not to devolve into a hyperfixation, but… I just couldn’t.
I mean, for me, the movie had everything; found family feels, dysfunctional father-son road trip vibes, Pathetic™ men ready to be Blorbo-fied, action, comedy, and impressive visuals.
(Am I counting the shirtless beach dogfight football scene as part of the impressive visuals?
I’ll leave that up to you.)
And with me already being an aviation enthusiast, or avgeek, this was bound to happen.
Anyway, this stupid plane movie (affectionate) has had a chokehold on me for the last nearly two months, and I managed to keep it mostly tamped down here on the hellsite, because I was a little ashamed of how easily my brain plunged into a hyperfixation—hypocritical, I know, on the hyperfixation site—but now, the dam has burst, and I’m just going to own it from here on out.
These stories will not make sense at all if you haven’t seen the movie, so here’s the link to the Wikipedia page, so you can get an idea of what I’m talking about.
I also highly recommend looking on YouTube for clips of the movie, because… okay, yeah, I’m trying to drag you down with me, I’ll be honest.
(Sharing is caring?)
So here we have two of my Top Gun: Maverick WIPs…
Prank War
This is the tentative synopsis: “It was getting a little bit chummy here at NAS North Island, so Jake had a genius idea.”
Basically, Jake “Hangman” Seresin, reformed jerk extraordinaire, has the genius idea to start a prank war between him and Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, which does not go well at all.
One thing leads to another, and someone ends up strung up by the Naval Air Station’s flagpole, in a coup de grace.
This is pure crack, and even I burst into laughter when I read my own opening scene, because it’s just so hilarious, and, in my opinion, perfectly in character.
Here’s the opening scene:
(Warning: a little cursey)
“Fuck my life.
Fuck my fucking life,” Vice Admiral Beau “Cyclone” Simpson muttered to himself, as he stared at the report before him in despair.
“Become an Admiral, they said—it’ll be fun, they said,” he continued, aware he was sounding like he was a few screws short of an F-18.
But in his opinion, it was completely acceptable—he had to get it out somehow.
“You’ll just have to sign a few things here and there, but you’ll be able to have more time to yourself.
Meanwhile, I’m here, dealing with fucking infants when I could’ve been flying still, exactly like Maverick.
Well—maybe not exactly like Maverick, I have some sense of self-preservation—but anyway.
‘Best aviators the US Navy has to offer’, my ass—more like two-year-olds, all of them.”
From there, we flashback to all the pranks, until we end up back with Admiral Simpson.
I still, sadly, have to figure out how to properly end it, but I’m still waiting to finish my Grantchester/1950s AU to really work on this and the next story anyway, so I’m not rushing myself…
Finally, the piece I am most excited and embarrassed to talk about:
What Am I Doing
That’s literally the working title, because I was working on Benjamin Solo and the Shadow of Death, when this idea barged in like this:
So thusly the name.
I am actually actively trying to come up with an actual title for this that is not borne out of my frustration at myself for acquiring another WIP.
However, the subtitle, which is actually going to be put on the fic title or the synopsis, is: “It’s the Great Karmic Bitchslap, Jake Seresin!”
Which is a play on “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”.
I honestly have no idea how I ended up with this, but I think, to my knowledge, it was born out of a desire (as these things often are) to torture and torment Jake Seresin.
Because, other than Bradley, and Maverick, to some extent, we don’t know anything about the families of the other pilots of Dagger Squadron.
So I thought, what if Jake had a twin sister?
And what if she ends up falling in love with Bradley Bradshaw?
“Jake would absolutely hate that,” I thought. “I love it.”
But since I’m not entirely heartless, I give Jake his very own romance plot, with Natasha “Phoenix” Trace.
(Hannix shippers, this one’s for you)
So, here’s the plot.
In the middle of the night, Jake wakes up to a call from base gate security: it’s his older twin sister, Anastasia, and his nephew, Lucas.
They’re on the run from Anastasia’s ex-husband, whom she divorced and had her marriage annulled a year ago.
However, her ex is an A-grade crazy psycho, who stalks and follows her and her son no matter where they go.
So she goes to her brother, figuring that since he lives on base, she and her son would be safe.
Here, she meets Maverick and the rest of Dagger Squadron (now a permanent squadron based out of North Island, thanks to the success of the uranium mission), including one Lieutenant Bradley Bradshaw.
Circumstance then throws the two even further together when a regulation indicates that she and Lucas cannot stay with Jake.
(Hand wavey contrivance, I know)
So out of the goodness of his heart, Maverick offers to put up the mother and son at his large house behind his hangar (which is widely accepted fanon, since we did not see anything of the sort in the movie), which is sort of off the grid, where—wouldn’t you know it—Bradley is also living, so he and Mav can spend more time together; after all, they have fifteen years to make up for.
Bradley and Anastasia soon grow close, much to her brother’s chagrin, all while Natasha is laughing her head off, as she fills in as said brother’s voice of reason, because this is karmic justice for all the women Jake’s picked up in bars.
There’s a scene I wrote last week which I am already in LOVE with, and I—it’s just so sweet and romantic—it’s EVERYTHING.
I couldn’t even believe my luck when I remembered the PERFECT song for said scene—I mean, the lyrics are just EXACTLY what the scene needed, and the lyrics are just SPOT-ON.
I tell you, it felt/feels inspired.
And I am so grateful that I know/grew up listening to old songs, because this song would never have occurred to me otherwise.
Some background on this scene: it’s the day of the Navy Gala, and Anastasia is supposed to go as her brother’s plus one, she even bought a dress and everything.
But then, just before she was going to get ready, her son had an accident and broke his arm, which meant that she had to take him to the hospital, and she was unable to go.
(Which will end up being good for Jake and Natasha)
This scene takes place at the end of the night, after Bradley returns home.
(I have yet to decide if Mav and Bradley will go home at the same time.)
As a side note, Bradley will be wearing dress whites, not blues, because… well, just because, “cover” is the fancy military term for the uniform cap, and I see Anastasia, or, as Bradley calls her, Ana, as Leelee Sobieski in my head.
Here’s the scene:
(Warning: 100% fluff)
“How’s Lucas?” Bradley asked, setting his cover onto the kitchen island.
“He’s sleeping—they gave him the good stuff at the hospital.
Thanks for asking.”
He nodded. “That’s good.”
“How was the gala?”
He cringed slightly. “Ehh—the usual—lots of boring self-congratulatory speeches before we get to what people actually came for; the open bar and the free food.”
“Was it any good?”
“Yeah, it always is, though I think it’s pretty hard to screw up pasta.”
“You’d be surprised,” Ana smiled.
“Jake?”
“Me, actually, the first time I tried to cook spaghetti and meatballs.”
He frowned, “I don’t believe that, you’ve been spoiling Mav and me the whole time you’ve been here.”
“Believe it, Lieutenant.”
Something almost vaguely familiar briefly clouded his expression, before it cleared, and he continued, “Yeah, anyway, the food was good, though it wasn’t a patch on what you dish out, and… Jake missed you, said he was hoping the two of you could’ve had a night out.”
“Jake, huh?”
Bradley rubbed the back of his neck, “Yeah, he pissed Nat off enough to make her drag him to the dance floor herself.”
Ana looked down, her hair falling into her face, “To be honest, I was actually hoping to go tonight.
It’s been… a while since I went to a party.”
“Gala, actually—the Navy’s quite particular about not calling it a party.
Got to be respectable and all that,” he grinned.
“Oh, sorry—gala,” she laughed. “Anyway, it would’ve been nice to dress up, and—” she sighed, “this is going to sound so stupid.”
“Tell me anyway?” he earnestly asked.
“I… I’m feeling bad that I wasted all that money on a dress I didn’t even end up wearing, and—God—I wanted to dance.”
Ana looked down embarrassedly, running a hand through her hair.
“That’s not stupid.
That’s normal.”
She looked up at him, a little startled.
Bradley worried his lower lip between his teeth before she saw an idea literally occur to him, the only thing missing, the lightbulb over his head. “It doesn’t have to be wasted.
Go put that dress on, and meet me down here.”
“What are you planning, Bradley?” Ana shook her head.
“Since you couldn’t go to the Navy Gala, the Navy Gala comes to you.”
An incredulous gasp escaped her. “You going to ask me to dance, Lieutenant Bradshaw?” she asked, a stupid smile on her lips, tears in her eyes.
“Well, I am still in uniform, and… yeah, I am.”
“Are you sure?”
“Go—I’ll be waiting,” he nodded encouragingly.
She couldn’t keep the smile from widening to a grin as she went upstairs, pulling the box from the dresser.
She quickly washed her face, before putting on mascara and lipstick, and slipping into the dress.
When she looked in the mirror, even though she wasn’t wearing anything close to the full makeup look she had planned to if she’d gotten to go to the gala, she felt beautiful in a way she hadn’t in a very long time, and tears threatened, but she ruthlessly pushed them back, as she gathered her hair into a loose bun, and stepped into her well-worn black heels.
She crept out of her room and made her way downstairs, where, true to his word, Bradley was waiting, at the foot of the stairs, cover tucked under his right arm, looking every inch the dashing naval aviator and officer he was, in his dress whites.
He looked up at the sound of her heels on the stairs, and an awed expression came over his face.
“Wow,” he breathed when she was a step away from him. “You look amazing.”
Ana sheepishly smoothed the deep green silk with her palms, as she stepped down the final step. “The makeup and hair’s not what I was planning for tonight if I got to go, but I didn’t want to keep you waiting too long.”
“I’d have waited if you wanted to do all that.”
Ana’s jaw slacked a bit, and he continued, “But you—you look stunning.”
“Thank you,” she replied.
Bradley offered his arm, with a “Shall we?”
She slipped her hand into the crook of his arm, and they moved out to the backyard, Bradley even bothering to wear his cover for the short walk to the pergola a ways from the back door.
“I’m going to be the envy of everyone at the gala,” he proudly murmured as they walked.
“It’s only the two of us,” Ana shook her head.
“Still,” he breathed, with an honesty she hadn’t heard from a man in years.
Once they were under the string lights, he stepped away from her to place his cover on the patio table which had been pushed to the side, along with the chairs, to create a makeshift dance floor.
Bradley pulled his phone out from his pocket and fiddled with it for a beat, looking for something.
Eventually, he found what he was searching for, and with a final tap, he set the device down beside his cover.
The strains of Orleans’ “Dance With Me” filled the air, and Ana smiled for what felt like the thousandth time that night.
He turned to her, hand extended. “Will you do me the honor of this dance, Miss Seresin?”
“I will, Lieutenant Bradshaw.”
She placed her hand in his, and he took her in his arms, as they began to sway slowly on the floor.
I still have to write basically 98% of this story, but this scene, and a couple of other bits and pieces, including the opening scene, and Bradley’s first glimpse of Anastasia, are written out.
However, while I always tend to give myself room to change things, I am absolutely certain that this dance scene is going to make its way into the final product hook or by crook, darn it.
It’s just… GAH, I love this scene so much.
I was grinning like an idiot while I wrote it, and I still do, when I read it.
I’m truly sorry if that comes off as narcissistic, I just—AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the look into my WIP folder, and all the word-vomit, Elli!!!
Thank you and God bless you if you managed to read all this, truly—I know it’s a LOT!!!
