Ok so yes here is my updated Apollo kid O.C.! It's been a while since I talked about him here, I think last time I posted about him his name was still Finn instead of Fen lol. Anyways here's some updated lore!

Fen's a huge Ancient Greek history and mythology buff, and dreams of uncovering the lost stories of Ancient Greece, as well as writing his own myths about modern-day heroes, just like Homer or Hesiod. He grew up in Carolina, Puerto Rico, with his mother, Layla Rosado-Aguiar. Their mom was a cultural history professor at the University of Puerto Rico, and also a Bomba dancer (Which is how she met Apollo). Fen has the ability to curse others with disease, but whenever he does this, the symptoms effect him as well. This means that he was often sick as a child, as he had no control over his powers. Luckily they have more control now, and spend all of their time chasing after monsters and spirits to write about them. This often gets them into trouble, especially since their not much of a fighter, but they can always rely on their siblings (and one sibling in particular) to help bail them out.

All in all he’s just a ball of sunshine. I mean, just look.

Finally, someone uploaded all of the Bond supports for the Three Lords, so below is a list of who bonds with who and my own personal thoughts on them:

Before we begin, just a quick explanation of things. 

Alear and Veyle have bonds with everyone- Claude as C, Dimitri and B, and Edelgard as A. So I ranked them based on how interesting I felt they were. 

The rest are separated by Lord, so I have a 4 tier ranking. 

Perfect - These are perfect matches based on personalities, experiences, and what they have to talk about.

Good - Still very good matches and I can see why they worked together, but just shy of perfect.

Ok - They work, but why they work is not as strong as the Good tier.

Weird - Either the conversation wasn’t good at all or there is little to no connective tissue to their bonds. 

This isn’t perfect and it’s pretty subjective, so if you have a different opinion, please share why you think something works or doesn’t work! For the most part, I basically ranked them based on how I felt about them in the moment, and these opinions can change later. 

Edelgard

I personally found that Edelgard’s matchs were less strong than Dimitri or Claude’s, but still had some perfect matches that worked well. Overall, I did noticed that these supports tend towards praising Edelgard’s kindness and good qualities, something we don’t see as much of for Dimitri or Claude. It’s not that Dimitri or Claude aren’t praised for their own good qualities at all, but Edelgard’s bonds in particular are very heavy on how wonderful Edelgard is. Those who praise her include: Alcryst (How strong and regal she is), Yunaka (how observant Edelgard is), Mauvier (less direct but basically that Edelgard’s care about Hubert and Mauvier is great), Rosado (How ambitious she is and that she doesn’t look down on him), Panette (Edelgard is amazing and like a flower), Zelkov (how Edelgard’s empathy is admirable), and Louis (how it looks like Edelgard is always pushing herself). That said, I also feel she has the most Weird matches of the bunch. 

Alear - A Bond - Good

I always like when a Emblem initiates the conversation first, and Edelgard does just that. She asks about Alear’s plans for the future, which is inline with her character (who cares much about such plans). 

Veyle - A Bond - OK

I put it as ok because it feels like Edelgard is stealing Dimitri’ shtick, which we also kinda see her do with Mauvier as well. Edelgard says that you cannot do things on your own. But the idea of working together with your allies is much more aligned with Dimitri. I mean, it does work, because Edelgard does learn she needs her own allies. But at the Academy stage, Edelgard is very much “I must work on my own path” so it feels weird. 

Alcryst - Perfect Match

This is a good fit because Alcryst is, in many ways, a male version of Bernadetta. Edelgard even brings up how much Alcryst reminds her of an old classmate. Edelgard also trying to encourage Alcryst is also pleasant to see. 

Yunaka - Good Match

I sort of hemmed and hewed at whether this was a perfect match or a good match, but ultimately went with good. Edelgard praises Yunaka’s talent for impersonating others, then says that she is incredibly observant. Yunaka does the same, saying that Edelgard must also be observant as well. Apparently, Yunaka reminds Edelgard of Dorothea. I do think Yunaka would have been better with Claude though. 

Mauvier - Ok Match

It’s ok. I suppose it makes sense that they are together because Mauvier, having been a villain prior, would match with a villain character, one who has an interesting crew of their own pasts she works with. Edelgard sort of feels like she is stealing Dimitri’s shtick, though, about wanting Mauvier to value his own life more, and wishes she had said it to Hubert. Would have preferred Mauvier with Dimitri. 

Rosado - Weird Match

I have no idea why these two share a conversation, except that Edelgard is a girl and Rosado likes cute things? Or maybe that they are people true to themselves? I guess it works but it feels like a stretch. Edelgard mentions that someone would disapprove of her perspective that one should be true to themselves but... I have no idea who she is talking about. Hubert, maybe? 

Panatte - Good Match

I put this as good because there are some interesting things here. Edelgard wonders about Panatte’s adjustment being a commoner among nobility (which apparently, grilling meat outside and camping is a noble thing in Solm so her experience with nobles will be different from anything in Foldan) which I think works pretty well with Edelgard’s obsession over nobility. But also, we see Edelgard have a rare moment of self-reflection, saying she’s not someone worth looking up to and that she is like a poisonous flower, killing the plants around her as she tries to grow. Although it still ended up as a “wow, you are so great, Edelgard!” bond support. 

Jade - Weird Match

Eh, again, like Rosado, I have no idea why these two are match together. I guess apparently Jade reminds Edelgard of a “certain sniper” due to their meticulous fighting style but like... I have no idea who she is talking about. Does she mean Shamir? Why not mention a Black Eagle? And then they talk about Jade’s book starring Amber. Wouldn’t it have been better to match her with Dimitri and have Dimitri mention how Jade is a lot like Ingrid? Idk, not a fan of this one. 

Punet - Weird Match

Again... why? They just talk about cooking. Edelgard says herself, Dimitri, and Claude cannot cook, and wants to learn. And that apparently someone told her cooking was important to an army’s moral but like... I have no idea who that would be. Again. This is the second time with Edelgard (third if we count the sniper comment) where her general mentions of characters seem pretty vague. I’m just not feeling this match up.

Celine - Ok Match

Oh my god, this one is hilarious when you know what happens in Three Houses. Celine believes Edelgard’s future can be bright because all three lords can work together! (Not knowing Edelgard starts a war is freaking hilarious). But I didn’t like Edelgard’s comment about how Alfred being confined to his room due to sickness was similar to how Bernadetta hide away in her own room because she hated training. It’s like when someone says “Oh man, I was so sick the other day” and instead of going “I’m sorry!” you go “Yeah, my dog was sick too.” But the C support with tea was good, since they both like tea, and considering they will both do pretty gruesome things for their nation makes them at least a decent pair. 

Zelkov - Perfect Match

This is truly a good match. Zelkov is a lot like Hubert in many ways, and even Edelgard says so. The A bond has Edelgard relating to sleeping troubles, and how her professor discovered her nightmares. The last part about Edelgard’s great empathy was kinda funny though, given she’s not an empathic character overall, but here she is being empathetic at least. 

Vander - Weird Match

It’s cute and I actually liked the support, but I don’t see the connection. Edelgard trying to recruit Vander for her army was funny though, kek. 

Louis - Weird Match

Yeah... I don’t see it. There’s like... no connective tissue at all. Not sure why they were paired together. Some of these feel like they just needed to match with someone and they put them on a dartboard and threw darts. It’s interesting, though, how Louis said that Dimitri and Claude were always hanging out together. Maybe that’s why Claude seems to rag on Dimitri the most, because they hang out together the most? We do see them hang out in Houses a few times so it’s a nice callback at least. 

Dimitri

Dimitri’s supports are pretty mellow compared to Edelgard’s and Claude’s, but I also find his character can interact with more characters more easily overall since he’s so dynamic. He still has some weird supports though. Still, I enjoyed his list. He may not have the most Perfect matches, but he has the least Weird matches. 

Alear - B Bond - Boring

Yeah, unfortunately this particular convo is pretty boring. Alear just asks how Dimitri chose his weapon, to get advice, but Dimitri just says his weapon was basically chosen for him. That’s it. :/ 

Veyle - B bond - Perfect

Wow, this is a great one for both of them. Since they both have sides of them that are not so savory, they have something in common to share. Dimitri telling Veyle that both sides of her are not something to deny is really good. 

Merrin - Perfect Match

These two are great since Merrin is inline with the knightly duties that Dimitri would be familiar with. Dimitri telling Merrin to not sacrifice her life so casually is a great touch since that is something that is deeply part of his character. I enjoyed this one. 

Ivy - Weird Match

Yeah, I don’t know why these two have a bond convo. Ivy is pretty rude to Dimitri and they don’t have anything interesting to talk about. Ivy gets uppity about Dimitri getting into her “private business” (then maybe don’t openly stare at Alear?) and Dimitri just apologizes. Not a fan of this one, no idea why they chose these two to be together. Personally, she should have been matched with Edelgard. They seem a lot more alike, with an obsession with another character, with difficult fathers, etc. This is also the only support that is outright mean to a Lord...

Diamant - Good Match

With them both being Princes of countries with complicated pasts, I’m glad to see these two together. We get a lot of insight on Dimitri’s views on what it means to be King, and then a fun little tidbit at the end where we learn Dimitri slipped out of his ball at the Academy to get some time to himself.

Seadall - OK Match

I’m starting to see a small pattern here of Dimitri talking a lot about dancing, a thing he does not like. Perhaps that’s the joke? If so, that’s why I put Seadall as an OK match. I feel like maybe Claude might have been a better fit here, but their conversation was at least pleasant. We also learn that apparently Byleth is honestly quite the dancer. 

Lapis - Good Match

I liked this one! Lapis and Dimitri are a pretty good fit, since Lapis is supposed to be very strong and also has a weird interest in eating basically weeds (poor Dedue, now there is two of them!). Strangely though, the conversation instead is more about sewing, and how they both struggle controlling their strength around needles and scissors. Dimitri also briefly mentions Mercedes here. Overall, I can’t think of a better match for Lapis.

Pandreo - Ok Match

Out of the three lords, Pandreo with Dimitri seems like the only good fit. Pandreo is big on religion, and while Dimitri is not pious, he is the only one of the three lords who is not openly hostile towards faith in general. Pandreo wanting to pray for Dimitri’s world is cute, and they both share a love of helping others. Plus, the support starts of kinda humorously too, which I can’t be mad at.

Kagetsu - Good Match

I felt like this one was a bit of wasted opportunity given that Kagetsu is basically of the Felix archetype a bit. They aren’t identical or anything, Kagetsu is waaaaayyyyy nicer and well adjusted, but still.... I also find it funny that Dimitri says it’s nice to hear his name spoken informally, although... a lot of characters opt for “Dimitri” versus “Lord” or “Prince”. That said, I liked this one. It’s nice to hear someone offering their ear, and offering advice to Dimitri who struggles with it. Plus, Dimitri mentions Dedue! Most of these supports do not directly name other characters, but this is one of those times where another name besides Dimitri, Claude, or Edelgard is mentioned. Dedue and Dimitri are dating, your honor. 

Chloe - Perfect Match

This one is wonderful. Chloe being a foodie and trying to share wonderful foods with Dimitri is great. And Dimitri can enjoy them the way he does in Foldan, which is mostly smelling since he can’t actually taste. They bounce off each other well and it’s a nice nod to how Dimitri loves cheese! Chloe is very thoughtful too and showcases her character well. 

Clanne - OK Match

This one isn’t spectacular or anything, but the way Dimitri handles the sweet Clanne earned a soft spot in my heart. They don’t seem to have much in common, but Clanne sort of reminds me of Ashe in a few ways, so I bumped it up to OK rather than Weird. Dimitri telling Clanne he enjoys his company and that he would be popular at school was cute. 

Anna - Weird Match

Honestly, would have rather seen Anna with Claude. Claude being the curious sort could have had a fun conversation with Anna, trying to get to the bottom of why she is a carbon copy of Foldan’s Anna. At least Dimitri does mention that Anna is just like the other Anna. Not that this is actually a bad support though. Anna wanting to sell the bracelet on a rainy day was funny. 

Boucheron - Weird Match

I think Dimitri just threw some shade towards Alfred about being... dressed frivolously? Kek. I don’t think he meant it that way but that’s where my brain went. I guess apparently Dimitri and Alfred are nothing alike, according to Boucheron (bullshit). This is a sweet support but I don’t see much connective tissue, other than maybe Boucheron likes books like Ingrid and Ashe (who Dimitri does not bring up at all) and ... fishing? 

Claude

Believe it or not, Claude actually has the most supports (one more at 12, the other two have 11, not including Alear or Veyle). Claude as a pretty cute series of bonds that are overall a fun display of his character. Claude’s outgoing demeaner really carries these supports. However, I did notice that they matched all the POC characters (which there aren’t many) with Claude, even if they aren’t necessarily good matches personality wise. I don’t know if this is a good thing, or a bad one, but something I noticed nonetheless. Claude also seems to have the most Perfect Matches, but still had quite a few Weird Matches in place as well. 

Alear - C Bond - Good

This one was better than Dimitri’s bond support with Alear. Alear asks for pointers regarding tactics due to Claude’s famous role as a tactician. I like the idea of the two characters talking and learning, rather than Dimitri’s “idk, my family bloodline made that decision” sort of thing. 

Veyle - C Bond - Boring

It’s only about wanting to become friends. That’s it, nothing special. 

Timerra - Ok Match

I sort of feel like they paired these two together because they are both the “yellow” group and not-white. Is that... negative of me? Anyways, beyond that, the only other thing I can think of that makes them “fit” is that Claude is reminded of Annette because of Timerra’s weird singing. I mean, he does have a support with Annette and an ending with her, but like... really? You couldn’t mention another Golden Deer instead? Lol. Also, Timerra, don’t tell me those giant ass balls around your body are “easy to move in”. 

Goldmary - Ok Match

Like Timerra, I’m not entirely sure why these two talk, except the sliver of a connection with Hilda. Claude is definitely originally reminded of Hilda by Goldmary, but later says that they are honestly nothing alike. Then they talk about saunas. So.... 

Saphir - Good Match

This is a pretty good fit because Claude has an important connection to another older lady (Judith!) back in Foldan, and Saphir is our “oldest” (ignoring Dragons) woman character. Claude picks out that Saphir’s fighting style is similar to a mercenary, like Byleth, and is reminded of Balthus due to being able to figure out it will be about to rain. 

Alfred - Weird Match

I have no idea why they paired these two together. It’s a cute conversation but I feel like Dimitri would have been a better fit since Alfred likes muscles and working out, and Dimitri works out a lot himself. Claude doesn’t even mention Raphael here (unlike a different bond support!). I am briefly reminded of the Japanese only-CD event where Claude is blown away by Dimitri’s hidden muscles (which he does the same here with Alfred), but that’s really it. 

Fogado - Perfect Match

Honestly, I think is a perfect match. They seem to stem from similar archetypes. This is sort of what I wanted with Dimitri and Alfred, which I did not get. Wanting to learn about the world, being outgoing people, being from a culture that is not so homogenous as the ones around them... Yeah, I dig it. 

Citrinne - Weird Match

The only connective tissue here is that Claude thought that Citrinne really liked food like Raphael. There’s not much more to say....

Lindon - Perfect Match

A little off-topic, but aren’t the Emblems unable to interact with things like teacups? Why would Claude want a book then? He can’t hold it! Anyways, besides that, this is a great fit. Lindon being well-read seems to be on the same wavelength as Claude, who uses his intellect to be successful over his brawn. Loved it! 

Framme - Weird Match

Well, this is a bond support that exists. It’s cute, I guess. And I do think Framme works best with Claude over the other two. But like... I guess apparently the big thing is that Dimitri ruins Claude’s jokes. Honestly, I feel like Dimitri gets ragged on a lot compared to the other lords and it ruined my pleasure of this support. Did they honestly have nothing better to talk about?

Amber - Ok Match

With Amber being so bubbly, this was decent enough but not great. With Amber having a hunger to travel to learn about the legends of other lands, I think this aligns well with Claude, so it’s at least OK versus a poor match. 

Jean - Perfect Match

I loved this one! Jean is basically the Cyril of this game, and since Claude supports Cyril I think it’s a nice connection. Plus, Claude seems to enjoy messing with the youngsters, as he attempts to try to scare Jean with ghost stories (Doesn’t work either, kek, I love this kid). Lysithea is mentioned here, which is great! And finally, with Jean having an interest in medicine, I think that works well with Claude’s fascination with poisons. Good stuff, this bond. 

Etie - Weird Match

Wasted on Claude. Should have been with Dimitri. She even says “bring out Dimitri so we can talk about working out!” Nice to hear Claude mention Raphael at least (and even mentions the support between Raphael and Dimitri) but still. I’ve mentioned this before, but some of these feel like they threw darts at a dartboard to decide who supports which Lord. 

Hortensia - Perfect Match

I think their personalities work great together! Especially since she is like Hilda in many ways. In fact, I’m reminded of Claude’s relationship with Hilda a lot. Hortensia begging Claude as a schemer, trying to get out of working, calling Claude out on stuff, which reminds him of Lorenz... damn, this is just so good. Loved it.

Fire Emblem Engage 18 - 20

Spoilers beneath the cut. This game is SO much fun to play, even if the plot is a bit basic.

Also, I'm shipping Alear with someone HARD.

Ok, so I paired Lief with Goldmary because I thought she'd benefit from the extra build staff and he 100% friendzoned her in their support, lamo.

Time for just about everyone to get Canto. About to see a lot of Sigurd's support conversations. Ivy, Hortensia, Seadall, Chloe, Goldmary, and Merrin are all getting Canto. Alfred already has it. I have Kagetsu with Sigurd right now and may or may not leave it that way. We'll see.

Ouch, Ivy's and Sigurd's support hurt. He talked about knowing the pain of a grieving child. My heart. 😭😭😭 His with Hortensia is pretty much the same. 😭😭😭

Goldmary commits to her gimmick. She is gaslight, gatekeep, and girlboss all in one.

Has anyone found a good use for Ike's blessing? It's makes everything so heavy and the rewards don't seem worth it.

Ok, so it looks like they already patched in (or added) a way to grind supports as a free update (I'm getting the DLC, but not yet). That was one of my biggest complaints about this game is how hard it is to get supports, esp since it encourages you to constantly replace your units, like every single freaking chapter almost throws superior units at you. Way worse than previous games. This should fix that a bit.

Oh, wow, and it got me Alfred and Yunaka's A support first time! I dropped her because I swear she didn't get a single strength point in her level ups, but their supports were really interesting so far. But I didn't get Ivy and Zelkov's C when they swam together so . . . not sure how strong this is, but it's welcome nonetheless. Doing it twice unlocked their C support. Not bad, esp if you have this from the start next time and can grind out more supports.

Rosado taking his life in his hands claiming he's cuter then Goldmary. And Yunaka and Alfred's final support was pretty cute.

Eirika talking about Lyon will never not hurt me. Her paralogue was a big step up in difficulty from Corrin, I feel. I think it was the map layout constricting movement so much and her wing sword making is harder to take advantage of the flier friendly areas.

Somniel is more fun gameplay wise than the Monastery because it's less necessary and feels less tedious, but man does it mess with the storyline way more than the Monastery did. Lief is like "there are still rings in trouble!" and Goldmary is just . . . lying in her bathing-suit and tanning. It's unintentionally funny.

Sombron is pissed that he lost Eirika and Sigurd. No mention of Lief though. 😭

So . . . Alear and Veyle are siblings, right? That means Lumera had sex with that dude.

Yessssss I was so hyped seeing a chapter on the water. I love ship battles. And a recruitable enemy too! This is like old-school FE.

So "the Miracle" that all the Emblems are discussing and mentioning Lumera, is it reviving someone back to life? Also, cool that Sigurd took the lead there.

Man, I just had one of the most satisfying overrides yet. It was during Lief's paralogue, and Kagetsu!Sigurd with Ridersbane must've taken out like 6 of Lief's mage horses.

I also sent Alfred way out by himself to chase down the speedwing on Lief's map. I "told him" that if he survived, he'd get the speedwing. Boy tanked everything like a champ and ended up MVP of the battle (deserved), so now he's 2 points faster.

Both Kagetsu and Ivy are level 19, so I'm doing Ch 19 before Sigurd's paralogue hoping they reach 20 there, and I can reset before doing that chapter where there's a TON of units to fight.

Are we going to fight wolves AGAIN? I hope they die for good this time.

So is Mauvier only staying with the 4 wolves to protect Veyle? Or partly? So I still predict we can recruit him later. I wish we could recruit Griss. Dude is unhinged. I'd love to see supports lol.

I think it's cool that Alear wanted to leave the area because there's no one left. But also fell a bit harder for Alfred who struggled with that decision the most.

This map is going to be VERY annoying with all that purple shit everywhere. Though, do I get Micaiah and Roy back after this?

It's amazing to me that we can destroy the Wolves so many times, and they keep trash talking. Somehow. They're so pathetic. And then, yet again, our heroes are chitchatting and somehow the enemies keep running away. I think it's best you just turn your brain off.

Alfred is like, "should we really let them go?" The voice of reason, finally. But Roy and Micaiah back!

I like Ivy so much more than I expected too. She's hilarious. Her B support with Panette was gold (and some really good voice acting too).

Why does no one ever want to spar with Kagetsu? 😭 There are so many supports about sparring, but not poor Kagetsu. He needs to support Alfred. He's always down for training.

There are so many characters I want to use next time because I like their personalities: Jade, Citrinne, Rosado, Fogado, Zelkov, and Boucheron are some. Pannette has promise. Lapis seems cute. I'm sure Timerra MUST have more to her than songs about eating meat.

Chloe and Merrin are girlfriends. Also, Goldmary starts stripping naked in her support with Framme. Didn't put that on my bingo card.

Micaiah's paralogue map is an amazing choice. Alcryst is the 3-13 Archer this time I guess lol. And there's a stand-in for Sothe too I see. Glad he got a little shout out there.

Goldmary needs some real issues in her life. Homegirl is having a breakdown because she made a funny face while eating. Who knew her and Framme's support would have so much entertainment?

So at the end of Roy's paralogue he's like "I used to know this demon dragon who wanted to wipe out humanity, you kinda remind me of her." Uh, thanks??? What are you trying to say exactly, Roy?

Mauvier is a Camus archtype 100%, except hope he's recruitable.

Alfred's reassuring Alear. I swear, these two are literally perfect for each other. I've never shipped a self-insert character with someone this hard before.

Oh, will I get Celica back this time? She deserves much better than Griss. He's like the anti-thesis of what Celica stands for.

How come Griss gets to use Ragranok every. single. turn. I never get to do that. Kagetsu finally sent that asshole back to his tile. Couldn't have done it if I didn't trust Alfred a metric fuck ton and just sent him out there.

Woop, got Celica back. She's free! Only Marth left.

Griss was easy to deal with after he stopped attacking me every round. Also, why are we not killing Griss and just letting him laugh about whatever he's so amused over.

Poor Alear just learned that she's the child of Sombron. Ok, Alear needs some headpats. She's confused how she can be Lumera's and the Fell Dragon's child. My dear, it takes two.

Alfred says he doesn't believe it. The only one who said something to try and help her feelings and not about the situation.

I like seeing Sigurd get more focus again. I really hope this means FE4 remake is coming.

So Lumera isn't Alear's blood mother? But, the writers DO know you need two to have a baby divine/fell dragon, right?

Alfred being the first to support Alear 😭😊❤️ And so unquestioning and complete about it. Alear's response to him got me too. Like, I'm falling for this ship hook, line, sinker. I'm going to have a hard time pairing up Alear or Alfred with anyone else unless their S-Support is a dud.

Like, I like Dimileth and Chrobin well enough and all, but I ship all 4 of those with other people too, and sometimes more (like Dimitri and Chrom). But, like, I ONLY am shipping Alfred and Alear with each other so far.

I love how casual Alear is seeing Mauvier wander up, when like we've fought to kill each other multiple times.

Also, I'm rich again! Thank you, Elusia. I may actually be able to afford the cute outfits now.

I have officially watched all of rosado's supports and some of them in Japanese, and it is incredible how they just didn't translate some parts? I need a transcript to confirm, but I'm pretty sure rosado uses 中性 to describe his townsfolk... that means gender neutral, literally the kanji for medium/middle + sex/gender

he also specifically mentions cutesy men and cool women, confirming people from his village are not just cute but in general showcase different types of beauty, regardless of gender (and yes! he also says the "regardless of gender" part in Japanese too! I love him sm)

there's also the first support with louis which I think is really funny because the ENGLISH VERSION JUST REMOVED TJE PART WITH "EVEN THOUGH I'M A BOY????" LMFAO

I imagine because they thought it was offensive or something? but I think it makes sense, fogado said to celine the firenese appear unsociable and closed off to those from other lands, closed off being the key word here

hewwo hewwo i finally finished fire emblem engage! i played on normal classic just to get a feel of the game and am planning on replaying on lunatic classic with only the guys bc my favorite way of having fun is stressing out over tiny things lol

but ya it was really fun and nostalgic and felt like a giant love letter to the series. i picked up on a lot of references even for the games that i didn’t play (ex: the bootleg julius and ishtar on sigurd’s map) and it was really hype seeing characters from past games (ephraim hi ilu!) anyway more thoughts below

ok the story was actual garbage lmao 4/10 but i was not expecting much since the primary focus of the game was clearly on the emblem rings. the first half of the story felt really slow and i hated how they gave all the villains sob stories before they died in a half-assed attempt to get you to feel bad for them. it would’ve been alright if there was some build-up but no it was just backstory then dead. i actually felt like the story had similarities to fates and i got suspicious and looked up the writers for fates and engage and lo and behold the main writer for fates is the main writer for engage which explains a lot LMAO

still there were some good parts so it’s not as bad as fates! i really liked the chapter where you fight the mc’s mother for the last time and the corrupted version of her had more of a possessive obsession with the mc rather than the motherly love at the beginning of the game. i thought that was really well done in showing that contrast

maps were boring in the beginning but a lot of the later maps made up for it! i think my personal favorite was the map where you have to fight griss and he uses celica to warp into the shadows waiting to surprise nuke you because that shit made me anxious LOL also probably my fave part of the game was how they featured a map from each game and remixed some of the older music alsksksk i got so giddy seeing lucina’s map

fates still has the best gameplay imo but this game was really fun! they did a good job at making each emblem feel unique while referencing their abilities from their respective games and i loved that a lot

speaking of which, micaiah, sigurd, byleth, and lyn are so ridiculously strong i wanna know what they were thinking when designing them alskskala

an issue that most fire emblem games have is that they don’t really do a good job at balancing characters (like why use any cav in sacred stones when you can just use seth lol) and that’s still true for engage (reclassing kagetsu into a wyvern knight gives him better stats than rosado despite rosado joining much later lmaoaakkaks) but equipping an emblem ring helps to alleviate those problems and make every character usable which i really appreciated

i won’t comment too much on character personalities since i mainly fielded the royals and they already got a lot of screen time so the others ended up neglected. disliked alcryst and hortensia, neutral to diamant (he’s hot but so boring), and i liked ivy, timerra, fogado, celine, and alfred. i especially liked the contrast of alfred’s “i believe in second chances and try to see the best in everyone” to celine’s “sometimes murder is the answer”

speaking of alfred, i ended up marrying him. he wasn’t my first choice even though i really like him, but i accidentally spoiled myself to his solo ending and i was like “NOT ON MY WATCH” and married him lol

Fui rápida nisso. Coloco meu melhor perfume, francês.

@lechuza-rosado technique is kind of a tricky word bc at least for me it feels like it implies a difference in approach as big as like straight ahead animation vs pose to pose or even like, frame by frame vs puppet animation maybe. and like for differences as big as that i feel like there’s a lot of like, good reasons to do things in any given way etc etc. yknow so i am going to interpret this more as like. um. well fuck the only word i’m thinking of to describe this is technique again. umm ok i’m just going to describe a thing.

i love arcs i love when things move in a very flowing way where all of the follow through and everything is following an arc very clearly. almost like you’re doing effects animation while animating a character. i think cartoon saloon stuff is probably the best example of this? they‘ll very often have one defining outline on one side of a character which really adds to this sort of thing. i’m not looking at anything rn so i may be a bit off with how it looks But like they’ve got a really unique way with shapes. yknow?

La catedral estaba cerrada.

Alec suspiró.

Sacó de su chamarra las llaves que le había robado al padre después de meterse a escondidas a su oficina la semana pasada. El sujeto estaba tan viejo que a Alec le hubiera sorprendido menos que hubiera olvidado cerrarla. Se preguntó cómo lo había hecho si… bueno, él tenía las llaves. Quizás conservó algún repuesto.

Eso qué importa.

Pronto nada lo hará.

Abrió las enormes puertas de la catedral lo más calladamente que pudo. La poca luz que entraba durante el día por los ventanales era prácticamente nula durante las primeras horas de la mañana. El único y débil rayo de sol que había iluminaba a Alec como si de un reflector se tratara. Era extraño ver el lugar completamente vacío y a oscuras, sin las decenas de feligreses llenando los asientos.

Los hipócritas y bárbaros feligreses, que odiaban a los que eran como él, pero que se pavoneaban por la vida, orgullosos de predicar amar al pródigo con sus acciones.

No se sintió intimidado por las estatuas de los terroríficos santos que lo observaban desde arriba y cerró la puerta con sus poderes, sintiendo…

Adrenalina. Pura adrenalina.

La catedral de Gatlon City fue la primera y única iglesia a la que David y él asistían. Habían logrado convertirse en miembros queridos de la comunidad; David estuvo en un grupo de jóvenes y Alec destacaba mucho en sus clases de catequismo. Nunca les dijeron la verdad.

Nunca les dijeron que eran prodigios.

David había dejado muy en claro desde el primer día que no debían contarle a nadie. Iba a ser un secreto que se llevarían hasta la tumba, porque en la Unión Americana las cosas para los prodigios no eran tan diferentes a como lo eran en la Federación Europea, les convenía más tener un perfil bajo y “omitir algunas verdades”.

Alec, incluso cuando era más joven, no había entendido.

¿Por qué pensar en el bien de aquellos que les deseaban el mal?

No supo qué fue lo que cambió dentro de su hermano, pero un día… simplemente explotó. Comenzó a juntarse con gente nueva y se llenó la cabeza de ideas sobre cómo debía ser la sociedad. Empezó a realizar juntas, escribir boletines informativos y a leer por horas libros de filosofía escritos por prodigios de todos los años de la historia.

Sin querer, Alec comenzó a escuchar las conversaciones que tenían los adultos en las reuniones y a conocer sobre lo que esos filósofos de antaño sugerían.

Pero siempre había algo que le terminaba molestando.

Decían que los prodigios, como seres extraordinarios, tenían la responsabilidad con la humanidad de cuidarla y protegerla con sus habilidades.

Sí. A esa misma humanidad que los mataba al nacer, que los abandonaba a su suerte y que los renegaba si tenían el descaro de mostrar quien verdaderamente eran. A esa era la que tenían que proteger.

Subió las escaleras al balcón donde el coro cantaba. Alguno de ellos había olvidado el periódico de hace dos días sobre el banco. Había la foto de un cadáver escamoso en primera plana, con el título “PRODIGIO ACUÁTICA AHORCADA Y FILETEADA.”

Fileteada. Como si fuera un animal.

Cuánto asco daban los no prodigios.

Abrió la puerta de la esquina. Detrás de ella, habían otras escaleras, mucho menos cuidadas y más despintadas que las primeras que había subido. Si pisaba un escalón, seguramente rechinarían y despertarían al guardia o al padre o a cualquiera que estuviera rondando por ahí.

Alec se hizo flotar a sí mismo unos centímetros sobre el piso. Casi podía rozar el metal con la punta de sus zapatos deportivos, viejos y sucios.

Las escaleras daban al techo de la catedral.

El sol apenas comenzaba a salir. Los rayos nacientes poco a poco comenzaban a opacar la luz de las estrellas, dejándolas imperceptibles al ojo humano. Las nubes se movían ligeramente sobre el cielo, al ritmo del canto de los primeros pájaros.

Alec dejó caer su mochila, quedando absorto ante la belleza del rosado cielo por unos buenos dos minutos.

Gatlon City no se merecía ese espectáculo.

No como estaba ahora.

Alec se puso de rodillas para abrir su mochila, cuando una figura apareció subiendo ruidosamente las escaleras.

Era David, todavía en sus piyamas, con un abrigo encima y el cabello despeinado.

—Alec James Artino, detente en este instante—le ordenó apuntándolo con el dedo—.No voy a permitir que hagas esto.

Carajo.

—Qué raro—respondió—.No recuerdo haberte pedido permiso.

David sacó un cuaderno de tapas de cuero de sus bolsillos y lo alzó sobre su cabeza.

El diario de Alec.

—Lo sé todo—balbuceó—.Sé hasta el último detalle de tu plan y no voy a permitir que te pongas en esa clase de peligro.

Alec no estaba en peligro.

Ellos lo estaban. Él era el peligro.

David se quedó callado. Alec sabía bien que no pensaba llamar a la policía. Estaba consciente de lo que le harían a Alec: lo mismo que le harían a cualquier otro prodigio revoltoso.

No importaba si Alec se rindiera o no al final.  Iba a terminar muerto.

Su hermano lo apreciaba lo suficiente para no querer verlo morir de esa forma.

—Sabes qué,—siguió diciendo. Tomó la mochila en sus brazos y se puso de pie—la verdadera pregunta aquí es… ¿qué haces tú al respecto? ¿Qué haces en este preciso momento?

David abrió más los ojos, como diciendo “¡Exactamente! ¿A qué quieres llegar?”

Oh, Alec sabía a dónde quería llegar.

—¿Y has logrado algo?—le preguntó retóricamente—¿Algo ha cambiado los últimos cinco años que nos hemos sentado por días enteros en las puertas del congreso o marchado pacíficamente por las calles?—miró hacia el horizonte, pero no se fijó en el cielo, sino en la ciudad—.Yo no he notado ningún cambio. Gatlon City sigue siendo igual de mierda que cuando llegamos a ella.

—No digas “mierda”.

Apretó la mochila. Alec iba a empezar a decir lo que se le diera la gana.

—¿Crees que vas a cambiar el mundo con plantones?—exclamó—¿Con discursos llenos de rodeos y palabras dulces? ¿Enserio crees que así es como funciona el mundo?

—¡El mundo es más complicado que eso!—respondió David—¡Es más complicado que eso y lo sabes! ¡No estás pensando claro!

Pero no. David se equivocaba. Ciertamente, Alec jamás había pensado tan claro como ahora.

Metió sus dos manos a la mochila.

—No pensabas lo mismo cuando me diste esto—y sacó el reluciente casco dorado.

David retrocedió como si Alec lo hubiera apuntado con la más peligrosa de las armas.

Como si él no fuera el arma más peligrosa de todas.

—Lo robaste… Lo tomaste de entre mis cosas—murmuró—.Te dije que te lo daría cuando…

—No, no lo robé, David—lo corrigió bruscamente—.Solamente tomé lo que es mío. Eso no tiene nada de malo.

Pensó que ahí se había terminado la discusión. Que su hermano mayor entendería, se daría la vuelta y dejaría que Alec comenzara lo que tenía que comenzar.

David le tomó sus manos cubiertas con guantes negros. Las de él eran callosas y parecidas a las de un señor de mayor edad. Lo miró a los ojos por un segundo. Eran azules con destellos dorados que solamente Alec notaba.

Porque conocía ese rostro tan bien como conocía el propio.

—Si haces lo que tienes en mente, vas a quemar el último puente que queda entre nosotros.

Él no entendía. Por más que se parecieran y por más que quisieran las mismas cosas, David jamás iba a ver el mundo como él lo hacía. No valía la pena arriesgar su visión de las cosas por alguien que no se tomaría la molestia de hacer lo mismo por él.

David también era un hipócrita.

—Y así será—dijo Alec dándole un ligero apretón.

Le sonrió.

David no lo valía. Alec sí.

Y le regresó la sonrisa.

—David, te diré algo—susurró—.El puente que dices… ya se incendió.

Se soltó del agarre de David y con sus poderes, lo lanzó hacia el lugar por donde había llegado. David apenas pudo agarrarse del barandal para no caer de espaldas y rodar por las escaleras. Lo único que Alec vio antes de cerrarle la puerta en la cara, fue su ceño fruncido en preocupación y sus labios formando la palabra: “¡NO!”.

Le puso candado a la puerta. Más le valía a David irse antes de que comenzara.

El amanecer se había tornado naranja. Ya no había estrellas. Alec y su casco eran las últimas que quedaban.

No. Él no era una simple estrella.

Ace Anarquía sería una supernova.

Sí, puede que el puente estuviera en llamas.

Puso su mano delante de él y fijó su mirada en el edificio más cercano.

Pero yo sé caminar sobre el fuego.

Engage Ch 6 - 8/9 ish

This game is dangerous, time goes by soooo fast lol.

One thing I want to say is, for me right now, the difficultly level is on point. Hard/Classic so far is the perfect sweet spot for me where it's not too easy, but it's not too frustrating either. I have to think, but not too hard. I personally don't like my video games too hard and challenging since I use them to unwind after working all week. And hard/classic is just perfect for me right now.

Oh, dear God, I knew Chloe was amazing. 😭😭😭😭 She's a big eater, a Fire Emblem classic trope, AND it looks like she's into fairy and folk tales. A woman after my own heart.

So when Alear goes over water on the world map, the little Alear figure turns into a boat. OMG that makes me happy. 😭

I love the folktale aspect of the flower country.

I hope they include Sommie and adopting animals in future FE games if they continue with this "my castle" aspect. It's so cute. I adopt every single one of them. Also, can a future update let us pet the animals this time? Didn't they learn from 3H that people want to pet animals, even ones in video games? At least we can pet Sommie.

So Micaiah's bond rings include: Naesala, Leanne, Sothe, and ELINCIA. 😭😭😭😭😭 I'm so satisfied with these choices. Literally some of my favorite FE characters ever. Elincia is in my top 3 (with Dimitri and Lucius).

Ok, so if Chloe is my girl for being a fairy tale fanatic, than Louis is my man for being a tea fanatic. Man literally picks tea in spots filled with man-eating beasts. For good tea, anything is worth it. Celine is also a homegirl for being such a tea fan too.

Alcyrst's bow was hysterical lamo. It's so stupid to shoot at whoever, esp with a warning that they'd arrive, but pretty funny nonetheless. And Citrinne is sooooo pretty.

Ok, this Hortensia is the first character I genuinely don't like. Her voice is so annoying. I already love Rosado though. But I knew I would.

Oh, shit, the enemies have rings this time. Oof. And poor Lucina stuck with that annoying girl. It really took forever to get some more steel weapons too.

I just saw Alfred and Celine's A support. There's major spoilers, esp for Alfred. But now I love them both and they deserve all the happiness. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Diamant is his own dad's nanny and it's hilarious. Amber is an idiot too, but he's our idiot and he's on a horse so.

A DEFEND chapter!!!! OMG, yes! So far everything's been route or defeat boss. I love defend. It's also defeat boss too though.

After missing on Lucina's ring, I did not expect to get Lief from Ivy, but not upset about it.

Diamant's dad's going to die. He's going to fight the bad guy's king, and Diamant seems already qualified to lead so . . . plus parents don't do so well. Here's hoping Eve makes it.

🌻 What little things do they notice about people or the world around them that make them happy? What tiny little treasures do they find in the normal every day that makes the world seem a little brighter for them?

One thing that makes her happy is hearing her loved ones laugh. She loves to see the way their dimples show or their nose scrunches up. She loves the sunrise, a reminder that she’s survived another day though eventually, she does more than just survive. She holds on to things from her “mortal life” like still going through the motions instead of using her powers to get something done. She’s obsessed with taking pictures and writing, keeping memories (and if i told you why you’d hate me lmao) Books and food (pizza and dessert specifically) are the quickest way to her heart. 

🌾 Describe your OC through the eyes of someone absolutely head-over-heels in love with them

oh hohooooooo hmmmm I’ll go with Samson this time because I never really bring him up because my friend hasn’t gotten that far in the story lmao I LOVE HIM OKAY and I love writing in his POV So for context- when Samson died, if you’ve ever read the bible you know he had his eyes removed right? so anyway, in the story, he is brought back but cursed to see only the soul, nothing more. so he has never actually seen Zahara physically (so far in the story)

Zahara is fire made flesh. I lost a wife to the flames once, but I knew the moment I saw Zahara’s soul that even if she had been the one that started that fire, I would have followed her to the very depths of hell itself. Her soul is like the brightest star in all of this endless darkness. Her soul turns pink when I make her blush, but most of the time, it’s a storm of blues and greys. Sometimes, it’s so dark it rival’s her father’s. It is then when she seeks me out, if I haven’t already gone to her, but she says she doesn’t have to pretend with me, and that is when my past doesn’t feel like something worthy of shame. Her soul is the color of sunflowers when she’s happy, and I could listen to her read those books she loves to much for hours to see the blues change into yellow. Her hands are soft and small in mine, and she is always reaching out to hold my hand. To lean into me. And I welcome it- Zahara is safe. She feels like home, as she is so keen to say about me. 

🌺 What does your OC do to calm down when they’re scared or after a nightmare? Do they have any special comfort items or need to be reassured by a specific person? How do they handle this if they’re alone?

Zahara suffers from nightmares often. She wears a ring that belonged to Samson that she tends to twist around her finger when she’s nervous. She sleeps in someone else’s shirt (Usually Samson’s or Emmanuel’s) When she’s scared, she likes to joke around but she will admit her fears to her bestfriends and her parents. She needs to talk about them to avoid staying stuck in her head. When she is alone, she tries to breathe and ground herself to avoid panicking but she will sneak into Emmanuel’s room and hop in bed with him. He hardly sleeps so half the time, he’s already waiting for her. (She meets him before Samson and they’re all bestfriends. She starts doing the same with Sam once she gets closer to him). 

🌼 Who are this characters friends and found family? How did they meet, how long have they been friends for, could they ever be something more than just friends? What do they look for in a friend or a romantic partner?

Her bestfriends are June Rosado, Andrea and Frank Morandi (they’re married). She met June and Andrea in first grade after writing her name on pennies and leaving them under her bed for the devil to find (this is a legit thing my grandma raised me on and forbade me to do ok lol) She wished to ‘never be alone’. Those three do everything together, still have sleepovers and have girls’ night when one of them needs it. 

Frank met them in middle school and June says they were all drawn to Zahara like ‘a moth to a flame’. Frank is very much like an older brother to Zahara and June, and while he can be a pain in the ass, he is such a protector and would do anything for them. 

Before Frank became Andrea’s boyfriend, the girls had their fun together (take that as you will). But June is now seeing Josiah who is part of Zahara’s ‘found family’. Josiah is the closest to a brother Zahara has (after frank), and those two are so protective of each other they’d do anything to keep each other safe. and they have- which is why we find them in the problems they are in currently >_

Emmanuel is also part of her found family. Those two have the most insane chemistry and the tension is fucking thicccccc she meets him as her father’s body guard but she notices that there’s more to his line of work than he lets on so she teased him constantly about it. They bicker constantly and make fun of each other, pull pranks. but he is so ridiculously giving and understanding of her emotions and he loves her so much there is very little he wouldn’t do for her and the same goes with Z. 

David Velez was the closest thing to a father she had before finding her family but that got taken from her too :)

Zahara and Samson become inseparable after some big life things happen and for the first time in her life, she isn’t afraid of feeling or letting herself be more than friends. she has been through some shit and Samson has faced the same traumas she has. THOSE TWO THO. the second Samson was written into the story that was it. 

Zahara values honesty over everything. Her entire life was built on a lie prior to finding her family and she forgives so easily- as long as she wasn’t lied to/as long as the person didn’t harm her loved ones. this girl can hold a grudge and I almost feel sorry for those who cross her. (but i’m really not.) She can and will (and has) shed blood to protect those she loves. She is so fiercely loyal and if she can be herself without fear of being taken advantage of, you’ve won her over. (giving her sugared donuts also helps)
