oh my god absolutely feral for the cynical prompt list PLEASE!!! maybe like bad at feelings/grumpy!r x steve with these vibes?:
• "you.. LIKE ME???" "i'm a little wary but so far, yes."
• "you're my favorite person. i didn't know you could have those."
• i love the idea that although they're cynical they would simultaneously not care to admit it ^ like "okay, yeah, i fell in love. so what???? people fall in puddles, and pools, and you know, other things!!! don't hold this against me!"
or literally anything from that list like i just know you’d eat
hope you like it angel xoxo — you tell steve you love him for the first time in front of all your friends who didn't even know you were dating (grumpy!r, fluff, 1.3k)
Eddie drops off a few Hellfire stragglers at Family Video after a lengthy campaign, you among them. Robin watches you file in with a freckled chin nestled in her palm. “Stevie! Your children are here!” she singsongs in the otherwise empty store, flipping unenthusiastically through an old magazine.
Dustin and Lucas grumble under their breaths about being called children, though you think they’re still very much deserving of the term. Eddie, meanwhile, crosses his leather-clad arms over his chest. “You know I’m older than him, right?” he monotones with squinted eyes. “So that’s, like, scientifically impossible.”
You deadpan from beside him, somehow more stoic than the raucously dressed metalhead. “And also, I’m dating him,” you frown. “So that’d be, like, extra weird.”
Everyone looks at you like you’ve grown two heads, then. Like you’ve just said something awful.
Steve’s presence saves you, but only for a moment. He comes out from the back wearing a stupid grin on his scruffy face. “Hey, babe,” he greets you first, with a wide hand spread warmly over your back.
When he ducks down for a fleeting kiss, you can taste the Cheetos he’d been snacking on and the wintergreen gum he’d just plucked into his mouth. The concoction is strange. Maddening, still.
All of your friends leer at you for several long moments. They gape at the two of you in horror, as though there was some kind of truth in what Robin had just announced moments ago — as though you and Steve shouldn’t be kissing at all.
“Wait,” Lucas mumbles, filling the heavy silence. His face twists in confusion a second later. “What?”
Eddie’s pale face contorts in something short offense, like you’ve betrayed him somehow. You sort of did, in a way. You’re Hellfire’s prettiest, grumpiest, weirdest member — you’re not supposed to be dating Steve The Hair Harrington. It goes against, like, every unwritten rule in the handbook.
“Is this why you wanted me to drop you off here?” he questions, palpably heartbroken. “So you two could— suck face?”
You shrug, emotionless. “Sorta.”
“We have a date tonight,” Steve announces with a proud smile. He squeezes gently at your shoulder, then cowers at the glare you give him. He clears his throat and corrects himself. “Not date.”
You’ve noticed his very strange tendency to call any time you spend together a date. You don’t like that. It makes you feel it’s some kind of appointment you have to book with him — an engagement you have to put too much effort into. Sometimes, you don’t want to go on a date. You just want to sleep over at his place, steal one of his shirts, and raid his kitchen in your underwear.
Eddie does everything but pout. “But I thought… I thought we came here to bother Steve until he let us take something home for free?” he confesses in a quiet voice.
“We can still do that if you want.”
“Yeah, but it’s not the same,” he frowns.
“Wait, wait, wait,” Robin shouts, abandoning her magazine and waving her hands in front of her face. “How did I not know about this?”
Steve bounces his shoulder, jostling the nametag pinned to his chest. “You don’t know everything about me, Buckley,” he sasses.
“So… you like him?” she presses, pointing to you and then the boy beside you. “You like Steve? Steve Harrington?”
You swallow hard and hope you don’t look as anxious as you feel. You shrug to feign an air of nonchalance. “I’m still a little wary about it, but, yeah… So far, anyway.”
Dustin’s senses return to him, then. He shakes his curly head in disbelief. “That is just… confounding,” he mumbles to himself.
“And how long has this been going on, exactly?” Robin squints.
“Couple months, I guess,” you monotone.
Steve has a much different, much more enthusiastic answer.
“Well, if we’re going by the first time I knew she liked me, it’s been five months. But if we’re going by the first time we kissed, it’s been four,” he rambles with his honey eyes flitted to the ceiling. “But if we’re going by the first time she actually admitted she liked me, it’s been… A wonderful six days.”
He flashes you a grin, which you meet with a hardened scowl. “Shut up…” you grumble, but don’t push him away when he cuddles you closer to his side.
“You? And Steve Harrington?” Eddie gapes. “You’re kissing?”
Steve scoffs. “Well, we’re dating Munson. So obviously we’re kissing. Among other things…”
You dig an elbow into his ribs to shove him away. “Do you have a death wish?” you spit, eyes narrowed and bitter, while the boy just chuckles to himself.
“It’s just… weird,” Dustin remarks.
“But, like, a good weird,” Lucas nods. “Like a solar eclipse, sort of weird.”
“Or, like, that one in a billion chance of atoms aligning and your hand going directly through a solid object, sort of weird,” the curly-haired boy adds, punctuating his sentence by slapping the front counter. His palm collides with the hard surface with a resounding thud.
“What did you think was gonna happen?” Steve monotones when Dustin winces.
“Well, impossible things happen all the time, Steve. Including now.”
You start to choke on the attention. The stares are borderline suffocating. A bunch of wide-eyed gazes holding yours until you feel like you can hardly breathe.
“What’s the big deal?” you blurt before you mean to. “We fell in love. Who cares? Dustin fell into a puddle earlier today— how’s that any different? People fall all the time.”
Dustin’s eyes narrow. “I thought we agreed not to bring that up.”
“Wait…” Steve mumbles, pink lips quirked in a crooked smile. His chocolate gaze glimmers with hope and confusion, eyes darting back and forth between yours. “You’re… You’re in love with me?”
“Yeah?” you shrug, trying not to cower at the way he looks at you. “So what?”
His grin widens. It takes everything in him not to kiss the life out of you then. He settles for a warm squeeze at your shoulder for now. “Nothing. Nothing, I just— I love you back. That’s all.”
The honeyed moment is ended bitterly by the sound of Eddie’s fake gagging. Robin gripes beneath the horrid noise, “You guys are gross…”
Lucas smiles. “I think it’s sweet.”
“Only ‘cause you’re more lovesick than these two idiots,” Eddie scoffs. He saunters away from you and takes the two Hellfire boys by the shoulder, leading them inevitably to the Sci-Fi section. Robin has no choice but to fix her frowning face and smile when a customer walks in.
With the crowd freshly dispersed, and the attention no longer on the two of you, you look up at Steve with a softer look than you’re used to. “Why did you look so shocked?” you murmur, eyes all squishy around the edges. “When I told you that I— that I loved you or whatever.”
“I wasn’t shocked,” Steve laughs and turns to face you fully. “I just… wasn’t expecting it, that’s all.”
You squint. “So you were shocked?”
“…I guess so. Yeah.”
“Well— you’re like— my favorite person or whatever,” you stumble over your words, finding it suddenly very difficult to meet his gaze. You gesture wildly with anxious hands. “And I didn’t even know you could have one of those, so… By that logic, I figured I must be in love with you.”
Steve grins, maybe bigger than he realizes. It’s all plush and pink and petaled, dripping with an adoration you’re not sure you deserve. “Well, by that logic, I must be in love with you, too, then, huh?”
“Guess so…” you grumble under your breath.
Steve smiles at the distant look of disgust scrunching your pretty face. “You’re so cute…” he mumbles under his breath, pressing a kiss to your pout before you can blink.

Kissing is... Neteyam XF!Omaticaya Reader
Warnings: just much fluff
Note: ok this gets shorter and shorter and honestly i dont know why but i owed them a happy ending and really i wasn't very inspired but after talking to my special person he gave me some ideas, hope you enjoy it and thanks for the support i have recently received
-Owed you girl @jjyourcake
WORDS: 499
The first time you kissed Neteyam it was soft. You could say that he was shy. At first their lips just brushed against each other quickly, but after a few seconds, immersed in the sounds of the forest around them, you felt your lips slowly open with the brush of his tongue, welcoming him, both of them just feeling good, like never before.
With the passage of time it became somewhat hot. Sometimes, perhaps more often than either of them would admit, they would slip away into the night, taking a long walk through the high branches of the trees, discreet enough that no one could hear or see them, until they came to a small lagoon at the foot of the river. They both jumped, stirring up the water a bit and when they surfaced for air, Neteyam would take you by the hips and wrap your legs around his, after looking into each other's eyes desire would wrap them both and between kisses he would rip you off. Little breathy sounds as you felt his sharp teeth bite into your bottom lip, you could be sure the night wouldn't end there.
It would turn desperate as his teeth tugged at each other's lips, your fingers entwined in his hair and clenched into a fist when you felt full in every way, as Neteyan licked carelessly at your mouth and they just couldn't get enough.
But other times, like that for example, in the celebration after their engagement, the kisses were tender, in front of the large Sully family, Neteyam had asked for her parents' blessing to become your partner, the only one for the rest of his life, as if you had not been for so long ago. The warm fire at dinner surrounded them while his brothers shared stories of little Nete with you to embarrass him in front of you. When you sometimes glanced at him, you would see his adoring gaze on you as his parents spoke a few words to him in private, and later that night, when the stars rose brighter than ever over their heads, he kissed you with barely any pressure visible on the lips, traveling the corner of your mouth to the center and then to the all of your face gently kissing the bright freckles on your cheeks and pecking everywhere, showing you how much he adored you in front of everyone, because that's what did you deserve
And a couple of years later, when he was named Olo'eyktan of the town, and while the fruit of their love was barely visible on your slightly swollen belly, Neteyam took your hand and gently squeezed it, seeking the sensation of your completeness support in his new duty, you subtly returned the gesture as they stood together in front of the whole town, his town. They had already survived many things apart, there was no doubt, in either of them, that they would survive much more like this, together.

The Prince Who Saved Himself
It's @taznovembercelebration day 6 and we haaaaaveeee - "problem" and the second card: "Job AU"
Read below or on Ao3, and check out yesterday's here.
--
“Everyone put your listening ears on!” Taako yells to the assembled crowd. He pretends to take his ears off and rifles through the box in front of him until he finds a suitable new pair, then screws them on laboriously before he turns back to the wodge of children staring enraptured in front of him.
“Is everybody ready! To! Learn!?” Taako yells, as if he’s actually excited to be running this session for the 10th time today, as if the kids are going to care about anything they have to say and they haven’t just been forced here by their parents so that someone else has to entertain them for a bit instead.
Although, that said, this batch do they do actually look like they're paying attention. Maybe Kravitz is slightly biassed, but maybe he deserves to be after being thrown up on and tantrumed at, and that one kids’ Dad who tried to answer all the questions and wouldn’t let the kids take a turn. Taako seems to just take it all in his stride, probably because he’s perfect and smart and wonderful, but Kravitz isn’t like that. He’s never been very good with people. Especially not good at kids. How he ended up in the field of ‘funducation’ is, quite frankly, beyond him. Well, it’s not. He needed money and this was a job that existed, and apparently he didn’t fuck up his interview. So now he gets to tell the story about Neverwinter's Monarchy; show off the box of exciting ‘historical artefacts’ (replicas, because neither children nor he can be trusted with the real stuff); and help the kids find ‘knights’ bones’ over and over and over again day in day out forever and ever and ever. This wasn’t the career plan he'd set off on his degree with, but it sure was the one he ended up with.
Honestly, he should have quit by now, and he would have too if it weren’t for Taako. Taako with his beautiful face and his gappy teeth and his freckles and his delight at the world. He loved fun, loved teaching, it was infectious. On Kravitz’s first day he’d been paired with Taako and he hadn’t worked a single shift with anyone else since, he hoped he wouldn't ever have to. Sure, he'd much prefer to see Taako every day in different circumstances, in 'waking up next to each other and bringing him a coffee in bed and kissing him over and over' circumstances. But cowards who weren't brave enough to ask out the guy they had a crush on couldn't be choosers, so colleagues would do.
"Is everybody excited for storytime?" Taako's so thrilled about it that Kravitz almost finds himself saying yes.
The children yell excited nonsense.
"Well then, it's a good job we're about to get started! I'm Taako and I'm gonna be one of your story tellers today." There's a big cheer from the audience.
"And say hello to Kravitz who's going to be helping cha'boy weave you a tale of magic and mystery." Kravitz waves and smiles. There's a much more subdued cheer. He understands, he'd cheer louder for Taako too.
Kravitz clanks up to the front in his armour. They let him paint it for realism so it's red and black and bashed up. He smiles at the children again. "Hello brave time travellers! Thank you for coming to help me today. A terrible fate has befallen the handsome prince, and he needs to be saved, do you think you can help me?" He overdoes it, but the audience seems engaged enough - probably a hold over from Taako's intro.
"Yes!" It's rousing enough to instill some confidence in Kravitz - he's got this, it's going to be okay.
Taako uses Kravitz's distraction to run to the far side of the patch of ground they're presenting on. "Oh please!" He wails, hand pressed to his forehead. "Won't somebody please save me, the handsomest prince anyone has ever set their eyes upon?"
Kravitz is inclined to agree.
"Once upon a time." Kravitz begins, because all good stories should. "There was a handsome prince..."
Taako preens, Kravitz takes a moment to appreciate him.
"... He was clever." Taako whips a pair of glasses out of his pocket and slides them into place. "...and funny..." Taako has an imaginary conversation, the laughter of his audience is palpable. "...and an excellent leader." Taako stands upright, orders his troops around with vim. "His parents adored him..." Taako bowed respectfully, showing his deference to the Queens of the land. "...and they doted on him, but despite that he wasn't spoiled." Taako arranged his face into something gracious.
Kravitz stops smiling at Taako's antics and tries to portray solemnity. "But even though the prince was beloved by people across the queendom, the royals in the Felicity Wilds were wracked with jealousy. They ruled cruelly, using fear and sadness as tools to keep their subjects in line. Do you think that was a good way to be when you're in charge?" Kravitz asked.
The crowd boos loudly.
"Do you think the people who lived in the Felicity Wilds liked them very much?" Kravitz goes for the double, why not? They seem engaged enough.
"No!!!" They shout.
"That's right!" Kravitz says, pleased with the reaction. "King Edward and Queen Lydia were twins who ruled together, and they grew jealous of how much the people in Neverwinter loved prince Taako and the Queens. Instead of deciding to be better and try harder, asking the people who lived there what they wanted, they decided to kidnap prince Taako!"
There's a gratifying gasp as Taako bravely fights his invisible assailants, but is overpowered.
"The queens were heartbroken, their beloved son! Gone! Neverwinter mourned, but they also sought to return the prince so cruelly snatched away."
Kravitz looked out into the audience. "Will you help us tell this part of the story? I need some brave adventurers."
A wave of hands shot up, straining for the sky.
"Thank you!" Shouted prince Taako. "It's nice to know someone cares."
Kravitz cares. Kravitz cares a whole lot. He just needs to work out how to tell him.
"Okay brave knights, we'll take you three!" Kravitz points at a mix of children. "And we all know that knights need some equipment." Kravitz gestures flamboyantly towards the tabards, soft foam short swords, and shields laid out for them. Then asks quietly "Will you please put these on while I tell the next bit? Let me know if you need any help and remember to be careful with your swords, you need to listen carefully to my instructions"
The children nod and Kravitz reverts to his dramatic voice. "Knights came from across Neverwinter and offered to go and return the wonderful prince." Kravitz glances at Taako, his description of the prince has become more and more complimentary with each retelling. Thankfully Taako doesn't seem to have noticed.
"The Queens, Istus and Raven, decided that sending too many brave knights would be an open declaration of war, instead they needed to act carefully, cautiously. No ransom arrived in the days following the prince's abduction, only silence. It was decided that only a small group of knights would go." Kravitz gestures to the motley group next to him, readjusts the one who's holding their sword by the blade, and starts a round of applause.
"They knew it was Lydia and Edward's men who took Taako, so they set off towards the Felicity Wilds." Kravitz places himself in front of the knights and indicates they should follow.
"They set off quietly at the break of dawn." Kravitz crept forwards on his tiptoes, assumes the kids are following based on the "awws" and camera clicks from the audience.
"They soon found that prince Taako, just as clever as he was handsome..." Kravitz cups a hand round his mouth to whisper to the audience, "...which was very..." They let out a gratifying laugh. "...had left them clues." Kravitz points to the tree stump with a fine stripe of glitter at the base and tries not to smile too fondly, (Taako chose how the prince would mark his path in their story when they decided not to use the blood from the original.) "So our brave knights followed the clues he left behind."
Kravitz pretends to look around dramatically. “Can anyone help our knights find the next clue?”
“Over there!!!” A chunk of the kids yell, excited and pointing at another smear of glitter (placed so the audience can see it more easily than the knights in the ‘stage’ area.)
“Thank you!” Kravitz says, the other knights also say their thanks, two of them wave, the cameras go off again.
“And there!” There’s more yelling and pointing, they work their way over to near Taako.
“Our brave knights closed in on where prince Taako was being held, using their tracking skills to remain unnoticed. But…” Kravitz pauses for drama. “...as they approached the encampment, they noticed guards posted up ahead.” He pauses here to ask the crowd, “would anyone like to play a bad guy?”
A range of hands shoot up, less, but still plenty. Kravitz selects four children who look like they won’t go too hog wild if given swords. This part is the highest risk for injury, thankfully he’s always been quick enough to intervene. “Okay everyone, grab your swords and tabards, remember that you have to be very careful and responsible, you don’t want to hurt anyone, do you?” Only once has a participant ever answered ‘yes’ and he got immediately demoted back to the crowd.
“The guards were half hidden in the trees, but the knights were stealthy and knew they needed to tread carefully.” Kravitz positions the guards between Taako and the knights.
“Now, what do you think the knights did? I need you to let me know. Did they… all rush up in one go and fight the guards?” Kravitz waits for the replies, mostly a chorus of ‘no’s’ with a few bloodthirsty ‘yes’s’ thrown in.
“Or did they… sneak through the trees and ambush the guards?” More assent this time.
“You’re right! They snuck up on the guards in the trees, carefully and quietly.” Kravitz indicated that the knights should sneak. “The guards looked out very hard.” The guards start looking around in an overexaggerated way without any prompting. Excellent.
“They came to the first guard who saw them too late and tried to block the blow…” Kravitz mimed what the first knight and the guard should do, whispered a reminder about being careful not to hurt anyone. The guard died dramatically and beautifully, Kravitz hoped the others followed suit as the cameras clicked again.
“They came to the second guard, who noticed them slightly sooner, but not soon enough to stop them.” Kravitz waved his second brave knight forward and another dramatic death scene played out.
“But then…” He’s serious now, trying to inject drama. “... the third guard spotted them and called out to the others!” Kravitz nods encouragingly at the guard who obliges him.
“Intruders!!!” The guard yells, impassioned, incensed, determined to ensure their prize isn’t liberated.
“The two guards banded together, and they all fought mercilessly.” Kravitz takes a second to remind the children that absolutely no one is to be merciless and everyone is just having fun - too much passion will lead to their removal from the scene.
After allowing the battle to rage (very gently) for long enough for all the parents and guardians to grab photos, Kravitz nodded to Taako.
“They were almost at a stalemate when one of the knights stumbled...” Says Taako. Kravitz drops to a knee. “... and one of the guards held a sword to his throat." There's a gratifying gasp from the crowd.
A slightly-too-enthusiastic-for-Kravitz’s-taste guard grabs him and places their foam sword across his neck. “Gentle, remember.” Kravitz whispers.
“The knights knew they should keep fighting and sacrifice their friend to the cause…” Taako conintues. Kravitz hopes the knights looked suitably sad. “... but it was difficult. They had been friends for many years and trained together, they didn’t want to watch him die.”
A few restless giggles in the audience tell him Taako is nearly there.
“But before anything bad could happen, the prince grabbed the sword away from the guard!” Taako yells triumphantly and disarms the guard trapping Kravitz.
“... The prince was a great swordsman and fighter and ran both guards through.” Kravitz adds.
The audience whoops and cheers as the two guards fall, each trying to out-last the other in their death throes. Finally they stop twitching and Taako stands tall and beautiful, his sword raised in the air. “Took you long enough.” He says to the assembled group of rescuers.
“And that’s the story of how the prince of Neverwinter rescued his favourite knight.” Says Taako. Favourite. That was new.
“They returned to Neverwinter...” Taako helps Kravitz to his feet and makes a show of inspecting him for wounds. “... and the Queens were overjoyed to see their son.” Kravitz says, then asks the audience, “Can we have some queens?”
Hands shoot up and he selects two more children to join them, places crowns on their heads, and smiles as they fuss over Taako and the knights.
“And then they announced…” Kravitz whispers to them.
“IT’S TIME TO HAVE A REALLY BIG PARTY!” Both queens yell together.
“All the villagers came to the celebration.” Kravitz motions at everyone to stand if they can. Taako presses the button on the ancient CD player and one of Johann’s slightly-too-sad-for-the-occasion lute tunes blasts out.
“Everybody danced!” Kravitz shouts to be heard as the audience begins to shuffle.
“Everybody danced.” Taako says. Kravitz didn't realise he was so close.
“I said that bit already.” Kravitz replies.
“But you’re not dancing.” Taako grabs his hand. “You said everybody.”
“I did say everybody.” Kravitz makes no move to loose his hand from Taako's.
Taako spins him fast, then launches into what Kravitz thinks might be an adapted macarena, Kravitz joins him.
Taako laughs, alternates between pulling Kravitz close and pushing him back. It's messy and wild and perfect because Taako's there and Kravitz is making him happy and they're together.
One of the queens knocks on Kravitz’s armoured leg. “Can I help you your highness?” Kravitz asks.
“You didn’t finish the story.”
“We did! We're having a party.” Kravitz wiggles out a dance to demonstrate the party atmosphere.
“But they didn’t kiss.”
“She’s got a point.” Taako says beside him. “They’re clearly into each other.”
“Are you hitting on me via children’s story time?” Kravitz hisses, hoping Queen Istus can't hear.
“Taako’s reciprocally hitting on you via educational story time because you’ve been doing it for weeks and haven’t taken it any further and cha’boy’s impatient.” Replies Taako at normal volume.
“Could you maybe not do it in front of a child?” Kravitz tries again to lower his voice.
“Hasn’t stopped you.” Taako grins his smug grin, the one that shouldn't be attractive, but is regardless.
“Are you going to kiss or just argue about it?” The queen says impatiently.
Kravitz doesn’t know if there’s any way to answer that which doesn’t get him fired.
“Can’t argue with royalty!” Taako says cheerfully.
Kravitz wonders if Taako is seriously going to let their first kiss be this public, this ridiculous, and this controlled by a child.
“Pucker up, Sir Kravitz.”
Apparently so.
Kravitz is vaguely aware of Taako leaning towards him, of the Queen ‘eep’ing in excitement, it's not what he wanted, but it's Taako so it's perfect. There’s a loud clang and his world shifts to a slit of vision. All he can see is Taako planting a kiss on the visor he’s just closed over Kravitz’s eyes.
“We’ll try without the kids later.” Taako whispers.

I hope you enjoyed! Check out tomorrow's prompt here.

🌟 Embrace Body Positivity: Celebrating the Beauty Within! 🌟
Hey there, beautiful soul! Today, I want to talk about something truly empowering and liberating: body positivity. It's time to embrace and celebrate the beauty that resides within you, just as you are. Each and every one of us is unique and deserving of love, respect, and self-acceptance.
In a world that often bombards us with unrealistic beauty standards and unattainable ideals, it's crucial to remind ourselves that true beauty is not limited to a specific shape, size, or appearance. It is found in the diverse tapestry of humanity, in every curve, line, freckle, and imperfection that makes us wonderfully human.
Remember, your worth is not determined by the number on a scale, the size of your clothes, or the opinions of others. It's about embracing your authentic self and radiating confidence from the inside out. Embracing body positivity is a journey, and it begins with self-love and acceptance.
Start by focusing on the things you appreciate about yourself, both internally and externally. Shift your mindset from self-criticism to self-compassion. Treat yourself with kindness, just as you would a dear friend. Nurture your body with nourishing foods, engage in activities that bring you joy, and prioritize self-care.
Surround yourself with positive influences. Seek out communities, online or offline, that promote body positivity and inclusivity. Engage in conversations that challenge societal norms and celebrate the beauty in all shapes, sizes, colors, and abilities. Let go of comparisons and instead, appreciate the unique journey you're on.
Remember, you are more than your appearance. Your worth extends far beyond your physical attributes. Embrace your talents, passions, and the qualities that make you truly remarkable. Shift your focus to what your body enables you to do rather than how it looks. Celebrate its strength, resilience, and ability to experience the wonders of life.
Be mindful of the media you consume. Surround yourself with diverse representations of beauty and bodies. Challenge the narrow standards and demand inclusivity and authenticity. By reshaping the narrative, we can create a world where everyone feels seen, accepted, and loved.
Lastly, let's remember that body positivity is not just about ourselves. It's about extending love, acceptance, and support to others. Lift each other up, celebrate our differences, and stand united against body shaming and unrealistic expectations. Together, we can create a world where every body is celebrated and embraced.
So, my friend, I encourage you to embark on this beautiful journey of self-acceptance and body positivity. Embrace your unique beauty, love yourself unconditionally, and radiate the confidence that comes from within. You are worthy, you are beautiful, and you are enough. Let your light shine bright and inspire others to do the same. 💖

Sothis hummed as she listened. Ah, Ralph! What a cheerful fellow. She did winder what the guy ate to be so built like that, but she’s often seen him consume meat. It was a turn off in a way but of course she respected that. To her she can’t eat meat simply for the texture. Texture was important, on all accounts, but.. she couldn’t do it. Props to those who did! Which was pretty much everyone who attended the academy.
“Of course!” Nod nod. That made sense. Choose a recipe first, research the ingredients, go from there. Normally if she was to cook, or bake, she would think of what she wants and assumes the ingredients. Reading.. was not her forte at all so looking at a recipe was out the window. “You hunt? How fascinating! I know it requires plenty of work, depending on the game you want, and a lot of skill. I wonder, a bird? A deer? They seem the hardest to achieve but I believe you can do it.” Always giving little praises to her darling teal boy. It’s something she did best, and after all, Caspar deserved it. She wondered how often he received praise..
Sothis squeezed his hand. “Buy everything? Are you sure?” There’s a twinkle in her eyes, a mischievous look on her freckled face. “Can you handle such a feat?” She’s teasing. A hundred percent tease. It should be easy between the two of them. And if he allows it, she can feed a treat to him! That’s another thing couples do, right? And perhaps family. She vaguely remembered feeding her babies. “Ah, would that also be part of our date? Return to one of our rooms or somewhere private, and feed each other our treats? I would like that very much.” Another squeeze. Sothis moved closer to Cas, and gently bumped his shoulder with her forehead.
“and you don’t need to spend all your money. I have some of my own. How about we split the cost? That way you can save your hard earned money for something you really like. Such as.. charms? You like a.. charm bracelet?” Had she heard that right in passing? She hoped so. If that was the case she already thought of a possible engagement piece for him..
Perhaps she was more experienced in the world as a whole. She was the creator, the original being who made every little thing and other worlds. but that’s about it. Caspar was so young, he still has yet to do many things. There’s no rush, per se, but she’d be happy to spend his remaining time on earth with him. And - maybe longer, if he so chose. Which.. she has yet to ask him. Was it too early in their relationship? Maybe.
She already thought of him as her mate. Her one and only. Dragons only had one mate for life, though one could gain another but it wasn’t as likely. This she also has yet to tell him. Gosh there’s so much she needs to tell Cas. About the world, of them, of the endless possibilities the two of them can do! She better stop thinking now before she gets too ahead of herself. Who knows what he wants to do. His goals, future plans. She wondered if she’ll be included..
“Oh, would you really? That is so sweet of you. We can cook together! Whenever you like. I have seen others cook, so I vaguely know of some recipes, in a way. But you know how to cook?” Her eyes lit up. She could gain more hands on experience but she knows herself. With some help.. things could be better. Surely.
So giggled. A blush! Caspar certainly was cuter flustered. Now she’s going to try and get him to be red much as possible! She hummed a happy tune as a hand reached and took hold of his. Jeweled fingers interlocked with his as she headed out towards the town. Her floating, of course.
“I heard if one stays or visit the town during the night or even dusk, it’s beautiful,” she told him. “And I know a sweets shoppe recently opened - no, added a new treat to their menu. D’you like sweets, Cas? Or even savory! Both are so good, sometimes it is hard to choose what you want.”

Mizutori’s bakudeku fanfiction master list [complete works]
Really really good writing by these incredible authors. In no particular order! These are all Top!Bakugou and Bottom!Deku. If A/B/O dynamics then it’s Alpha!Bakugou and Omega!Deku. Yes, I have preferences.
Canon World – until 15k
What The Fuck Did You Just Call Me? by reading_raindrop | 8,303 | Izuku starts calling him Bakugou and it pisses the explosive teen off a lot more than he thought it would.
Oh right, you were a little sh*t by SaysiWrites | 5,653 | When Midoriya Izuku gets hit by an age-reversion Quirk, the last thing anyone expected to find out is that Toddler-Izuku is a little shit. Except for one Bakugou Katsuki, who has seen this phase one too many times already. (Bonus+ the entire Little Sh*t (Kidfic) series)
Do Not Disturb by surveycorpsjean | 10,010 | Apply enough force, and something is bound to break.
And Atlas fell by supercrunch | 15,185 | They move in together, after a while. Katsuki joins Best Jeanist and Izuku trains under Gran Torino. They still take comfort in each other every day, curl up in bed and kiss and talk about how life is going. Their live are tumultuous, after all, what with villains and training and rescuing people every week. It’s nice to have something certain. At the end of a day filled with violence and adrenaline, Izuku knows he can come home to someone concrete. It’s perfect. Being a hero is scary and grueling and uncertain, but this part is just right. And then, one day, a child dies in Izuku’s arms.
be loved by bonnia | 5,403 | The kidnapping incident leaves bakugou traumatised about being touched on the back of his neck, and midoriya decides to take matters into his own hands.
Big Protein by Mysecretfanmoments | 13,683 | Bakugou Katsuki has a thriving hero career, an agent to manage his famous attitude, and absolutely zero romantic interest in anyone. With the exception of his favourite health food joint refusing to expand to his city, his life is pretty damn perfect—so why does a viral video revealing Deku's stash of dirty mags involving him and Deku together turn everything upside-down?
Chocolate cake and resin preserved flowers by Anoksun | 11,396 | Izuku loses his memories. Katsuki struggles not to lose Izuku too.
Twin Stars by theperksofbeinglarissa | 8,435 | When Deku saves a woman's life, her quirk is accidentally activated. Her quirk? She reveals a person's soulmate. A star-shaped mark appears on Midoriya's left arm... and on Bakugou's as well. Kirishima is the only one who knows that Bakugou is Midoriya's soulmate, and Bakugou isn't taking the news very well. Can the twin stars of class 1-A work out their differences and find their happy ending?
Unhealthy Fixations by Thesis | 12,522 | Izuku is an adult who knows better than to crush on his childhood bully. AND YET.
Like the Moon by osakakitty | 14,781 | Katsuki Bakugo is having constant, erotic dreams about Izuku Midoriya. He isn’t sure why, but they won’t go away. In order to make them stop, he needs to figure out what Izuku Midoriya means to him.
Worth a Second Shot by cinnabee | 13,080 | Katsuki and Izuku celebrate registering as a Hero Duo together with a big party. What could go wrong?
Like Something Out of A Shoujo Manga by Merrywetherweather | 2,971 | Deku ends up in a rather interesting quirk accident, one that triggers flag events as if he were the protagonist of an otome game.
Canon World – 15k++
Blood Moon by lalazee | 94,860 | The Thank-Fuck-We-Aren’t-Dead Sex had started then, and had never really stopped. Then came the feelings and the fights. The ego, the pride, the jealousy. And then there was Us.
The Way You Used To Do by edema_ruh | 669,463 | During a battle, Midoriya gets hit by a villain whose quirk detaches his soul from his body. Stuck in a ghost-like state, the boy enters a race against time in order to save himself from permanently dying. Much to his luck - or lack of it -, the only person who can see and talk to him in this state is no one other than Kacchan.
Just Like Breathing by MD_Daydreamer | 35,423 | Izuku got engaged. He didn't mind. If that made Uraraka happy, he could do it. He thought his life wouldn't change much. But then, Kacchan went to live in the USA.
briar roses (and hundred years of sleep) by vannral | 15,951 | In which Izuku is hit by a ‘Sleeping Beauty’ Quirk, Class 3-A tries to find his True Love and get them to kiss him, and Katsuki’s very angry about it all.
"what's your type?" by sapphicflower | 20,192 | In order to increase their popularity rankings as up and coming pro heroes, Izuku and Katsuki participate in the most popular late night talk show for hero duos - ‘Heroes Rising!’. They’re killing it, obviously, because they know each other from inside and out. Until one question stumps the two of them: “What is your hero partner’s type?”
and it was Just Right by cinnabee | 23,759 | Katsuki spends two years post-graduation in a furious one-sided competition with his childhood friend and rival's promotional photos - until they finally run into each other, and, well. You shouldn't believe everything you see in magazines. A love story about size differences.
Notice Me, Nerd by useless_donut | 40,000 | Bakugou is in love with Midoriya. He doesn’t hide it, in fact it’s so painfully obvious that the entire class of 3-A has him figured out in a matter of months (days, in some cases). Too bad Midoriya is the most oblivious motherfucker out there, and Bakugou is too damn stubborn to actually ask him out. A love story as witnessed by the class of 3-A.
in your dreams, nerd! by sapphicflower | 37,639 | In a strange and unexpected set of circumstances, Izuku and Katsuki find themselves sharing their dreams together whenever they happen to fall asleep at the same time. Being hopelessly in love with each other, they don’t mind it all that much. What better way to spend time with your crush than in a stupidly vivid dream?
Hear Me by my_name_is_Levi | 22,419 | It wasn’t as if nightmares were uncommon for the freshman class of Yuuei. They’d seen plenty of things, heard and felt and witnessed enough travesty in their lives to last them a lifetime. But Midoriya Izuku was screaming, and no one, not even Bakugo Katsuki could ignore it.
Bridges by supercrunch | 18,018 | Bakugou is signed up for a Calvin Klein modeling gig. The thing is, they really do need the money. And Katsuki's technically the leader of this bunch of morons, so he finds himself taking the job even though his pride will never recover. And even though nobody thought to tell him that he'd be working with his ex-boyfriend. You know, the cute freckled guy from high school who went and broke his heart. So, yeah. This whole situation kind of sucks.
objective truth by mamalade | 15,390 | Izuku gets hit with a truth quirk, as one does. He seems to be handling it well—until Katsuki shows up.
catharsis by dollcewrites | 15,071 | It's been six years since Izuku graduated. It's been six years since he confessed to his childhood friend; his classmate and his inspiration. It's been six years since he deleted Bakugou's number, asked his friends not to mention the name, spent every last effort of his heart turning off the TV and averting his eyes from the newspapers. It's been six, long, long years since he gave up on Katsuki Bakugou ever loving him back.
Here here, my friends and me (You are my familia) by Jeka | 128,832 | Bakugou Katsuki has made a great job of ignoring the fact that he is tragically in love with Deku, someone who could never love him like that and let's face it, he doesn't deserve. Now that he can't ignore it anymore, he has to find a way to keep his childhood friend and move on for his own sake. Or so he had thought, maybe he can have Deku, after all. Izuku has everything he always wanted in life. But suddenly he has to navigate the most important relationship in his life through different eyes.
Canon World – Jealous!
Hands Off by SaysiWrites | 7,140 | When a new girl at school starts flirting with Bakugou, his friends quickly become invested in the idea of their friend experiencing love - even if he doesn't seem at all interested in her. What they don't see is Midoriya fuming in the background. But how can he get rid of her when they've spent so long keeping their relationship a secret?
Surfaces by surveycorpsjean | 25,225 | Katsuki has a new girlfriend, but something isn't right. As impossible as it is, Izuku can't help but wonder what it'd be like to be called Katsuki's girl.
Green-Eyed Beast by SecretKiwi | 4,721 | Everyone wants a piece of Katsuki Bakugou, but they should beware of the Green-eyed beast always lurking close behind him.
Green with Envy by Sol_Morales707 | 2,611 | Izuku Midoriya is not as innocent and pure as everyone thinks he is. The truth was he was very jealous and willing to do anything for a certain blonde.
Happy Camper by Arysa | 7,074 | Wanting a break from the stress of dealing with the rookie Pro Hero grind, a handful of students from Class A decide to go on a camping trip. Izuku's excited to relax and catch up with everyone, especially Kacchan. But, well, Kacchan's... Kacchan. And dating Kirishima.
How to stop time: kiss by Teddingtons | 31,693 | Deku finally asks Uraraka out. Everyone's supportive except Bakugou who can't even look him in the eye. Deku seeks him out after and is hit with truth.
What I Deserve by s_the_queen | 16,671 | When Izuku starts dating a student in General Studies, everyone is happy for him. She's super sweet and really caring. But something doesn't sit right with Katsuki.
Deku's Already Fucking Taken by asdfjkl129 | 20,704 | 5 times people don't realize that Deku is already in a very happy relationship and try their hand at asking him out, and then in Bakugou's unique and special style, get very firmly corrected, +1 time where no correction is needed.
His by sister_elric | 6,206 | Izuku would like to consider himself a pretty level headed individual. Sure, he had the occasional tunnel vision, especially when it came to training. And hero work. And Kacchan. But, overall, Midoriya felt as though he typically kept his cool. Well, maybe that was a stretch. But, at the very least he could understand his own emotions. So, it surprised even him when an unfamiliar emotion coursed through him as a first year approached his boyfriend, Katsuki.
Down the Red Line by MinervaHope | 7,804 | Izuku has been able to see the red strings of fate since birth. It's no surprise that his is connected to Katsuki.
Canon World – Fake Relationship Goes Wrong
how he should’ve known (and how it turned out) by vannral | 43,918 | In which Katsuki and Izuku pretend to be a couple to avoid journalists, the plan backfires magnificently because of course it does, and the act goes on. Includes feelings, pining, domestic fluff and jealousy.
Vicious by feelslikefire | 105,173 | Midoriya and Bakugou wind up in the very last position either of them thought they'd be in: Hero Partners. It's not fun, but they learn to cope. Their first big assignment together takes them undercover to infiltrate a cult, but the situation turns out far more sinister than they first thought.
What I can never tell you by Mikacrispy | 27,067 | After living in the US for 5 years, Izuku returns to take care of a concussed Bakugou who believes they're engaged. Now, Izuku has to pretend he's in a relationship with the man he's loved for most of his life, knowing that it's just a matter of time until Katsuki gets better and realizes it's all a lie.
Not-Dating by MiraChaDoodles | 14,290 | Katsuki takes Deku on a not-date to save his career, only to find himself wishing it were real.
we'll do the things that lovers do by ethereals | 29,544 | Izuku gets an invitation to Shouto's wedding and Katsuki is PISSED that he asks Kirishima to be his date (also he wasn't even fucking invited
Canon World – Friends With Benefits (?)
Four Times Bakugou Katsuki Doesn't Intend to Sleep With Midoriya Izuku (And the One Time that He Does) by fallingraine85 | 17,601 | He hadn’t planned for any of this. He isn’t about to go delving into the ball of yarn that is Midoriya Izuku’s heart; he isn’t equipped to try and untangle and make sense of it all. He isn’t about to try to analyze how he’s feeling about all of this, either.... How many times can you repeat the same mistake?
We Wear Chains on the Weekend by surveycorpsjean | 35,086 | Well, in a day of revelations, it turns out that Izuku isn't as vanilla as Katsuki previously thought. Unfortunately, that fascinating discovery is overshadowed by Izuku's dumbassery, because he has zero concept of aftercare."Don't go to anyone else," Katsuki says, because screw it. He can do a better job anyways. Or; Katsuki finds Izuku on a bad drop.
Just for Now by Shiro_Kabocha | 48,135 | Katsuki's parents are out of town over a school break and to keep him from getting up to any shenanigans, they ask Izuku to house sit with him. What are two teenaged boys to do when left alone to their own devices? (Bonus+ the entire Just for Love series)
safe in the darkness by yoonskisses | 20,855 | Izuku and Katsuki had been meeting up secretly for months, with absolutely no feelings involved. Or so Katsuki thought at least. The dorm gossip about Ochaco and Izuku's new relationship seemed to set a spanner in the works for their arrangement.
Alternative Universe – No Quirks
Bluebird by EtherealBeing | 53,108 | Dialing a wrong number was no unusual occurrence. Everyone did it once in a while, and Katsuki was well aware of that fact. However, possessing this knowledge made it no less aggravating for him to discover — a full two minutes into his rant about his day — that he’d been venting his frustrations to a complete stranger. As if that wasn't enough, said stranger was also inexplicably determined to hear his story to its end.
Someone Borrowed by mynameis152 | 138,996 | It felt like hours that he stared at Izuku, coming to terms with the fact that a man, his childhood best friend, whom he hadn’t seen since their senior year of high school, was there in front of his very eyes. Then his brows furrowed and his jaw clenched before he uttered through gritted teeth the very name Izuku had longed to hear for years. “Deku.”
Dark Side of the Sun by Synnie | 51,598 | Staying up too late playing video games, Kirishima wasn't expecting to get an urgent call begging for help. Next thing he knew, he was letting his classmate Izuku Midoriya take refuge in his apartment - without consulting his always angry roommate.

Precious Pet by Mikacrispy | 6,379 | When broke college student Midoriya Izuku found a job that offered lodging, food, and good pay for four hours of work each day, he thought it was too good to be true. But he called anyway. Turns out all he has to do is to be the spoiled little puppy of a rich businessman.
Our Eleven Summers by Dark_Mage_Ayumu | 34,472 | The first time Katsuki met Izuku was when he was eight. For the next eleven years, Izuku changed his life, and no one even knew. Their relationship was something they shared in secret.
sticky note crushes by ladyofsnails | 3,239 | Katsuki hates his roommate. The green-haired, freckled, artsy son of a bitch with his dumb pun t-shirts and paint-stained hands he can’t fucking keep to himself. Katsuki can’t leave a single assignment or paper out in his room because that idiot will just grab anything to draw on it. He’s like a shark that can’t stop swimming else it’ll die – he can’t stop drawing. Ever.
Don't Play Pretend by SweetSide | 10,103 | Actor AU: Deku and Bakugou get the leading roles for an upcoming TV Drama. They weren’t aware that they would be working with each other for who knows how long. It would’ve been completely fine if they weren’t exes.
97.6 FM by jamjars | 32,249 | Izuku can’t stop listening to the radio host with the deep voice who sounds like he’s stuck in 2010. It’s a harmless crush. That is until he starts calling into the show under the pseudonym Deku.

Call Me a Safe Bet (I'm Betting I'm Not) by WTTTD | 10,803 | He wished he had some sort of heads up before seeing Deku again for the first time after nearly two years, looking like the essence of a lazy Sunday, smiling and surrounded with brand new, adoring friends. It was a little fitting that Katsuki burned for him so badly. (Support Department Deku)
In Which Kacchan Has a Ruff Time by OneshotPrincess | 14,511 | Bakugou Katsuki gets quirked into a dog, gets adopted by an unknowing Izuku and generally has a very rough few days full of realizations
While You Were Sleeping by Belkacaramelka (annabelleg) | 71,197 | The one where quirkless fanboy Midoriya Izuku rescues Pro Hero Todoroki Shouto, gets mistaken as his fiancé while he is in a coma, and gets caught up in the most unlikely fake engagement... until his childhood enemy and Todoroki's classmate Bakugou Katsuki tries to catch him out, and they both end up discovering a lot more about each other than they'd expected.
Let Me Assist You Personally by Seeress | 32,806 | Izuku is long-suffering Personal Assistant to #1 Pro Hero Dynamight.Dynamight can't keep a PA to save his career. They all quit crying after a few days weeks. Enter, Izuku—with enough money problems to brave the jaws of the cranky beast. Childhood friend turned glorified paid slave. Somehow it all works out. ‘Kill them with kindness’, his mom had told him once. If that were true, Bakugou Katsuki would be stone-cold dead by now.
Smile For The Camera by kurokonekokilled | 19,179 | Midnight has a cam site, home to millions of users, but one catches Katsuki's eye when he goes scrolled through it in search for something to help him release a little stress. A live stream and the best orgasm of his life later, his wallet is lighter, and he might be almost as obsessed with this Deku guy as the cam boy is with him.
Just Like The Comics by brichibi | 24,935 | Where Izuku works at a comic book shop because that’s as close to a hero as he’s gonna get, and Katsuki plays the part of heroic ex-boyfriend who is good at everything except winning Izuku back... maybe
Alternative Universe – Quirks
Get on my Level by Mikacrispy | 92,273 | Bakugou Katsuki is a Pro Hero whose boss demands him to take an intern. Midoriya Izuku is a UA student who needs an internship. When the two of them are put together, they learn about what it truly means to be a Hero and what it means to be in love.
A/B/O – Secret! Baby
Home by Emerald2402 | 87,214 | Midoriya Izuku left Japan in a rush, moving to America without a word to anyone else. But then almost 11 years later he arrives back Home and Bakugou Katsuki's Alpha is furious. Those Under the Same Stars by PerpetuallyPerturbed | 325,553 | When Katsuki Bakugo left Izuku Midoriya five years ago, he thought it was for forever. He put aside dreams and wishes of the omega to focus on his career. He was going to be the best hero, after all. He couldn't have an omega getting in his way. So when he's stopped on the streets one day by a pup begging for help for his mom, he isn't prepared to face what he gave up, and what the consequences of his actions were. (Quirkless Deku)
A/B/O – Quirks
Mark Me. Make Me Yours. by decadentbynature | 10,062 | Midoriya is the only Omega at UA and he's been hiding it well but there's one issue that threatens to expose him: his attraction to an Alpha, Bakugo. After being told to give some paperwork to Bakugo, Midoriya lets him into his dorm room and is immediately overwhelmed by his scent. Unable to help himself, he gives in to his urges, only to be discovered by Bakugo but instead of becoming enraged, Bakugo decides to give Midoriya exactly what he wants
Claim Me by ScientificallySinful (VampireGaaraCheesepuffs) | 114,449 | Being an Alpha has nothing to do with Katsuki's success as a Pro-Hero, the same way Deku's Omega status hasn't kept him from becoming Number Two. Secondary gender doesn't mean anything nowadays and “mating” is an antiquated practice. So when Izuku, his rival, asks Katsuki to Claim him in the middle of the night, there is only one logical thing to say. “What the fuck?”
Change of Plans by Mikacrispy | 185,965 | Alpha Pro Hero Bakugou Katsuki never planned to get married to some random omega but what he wants isn't an option anymore. One for All wielder Midoriya Izuku has suffered injustice too many times and doesn't plan in allowing his secondary gender to dictate how he must live his life. Falling in love was never in the plans.
Going Feral For You by ANGIE_fic | 17,977 | Bakugou has an aggression problem that might have to do with his Alpha. His job is on the line because of it. So what do you do with a pent up Alpha? Yes.Rut. (Quirkless Izuku)
i live for you, i long for you by jeonjeonggukkkkkie | 19,165 | The five times Izuku hinted he wants Katsuki to spend his next heat with him, and the one time Katsuki took the hint.
Baby's First Bloom by ContraryBee | 44,945 | Izuku blooms for Katsuki one warm day in their third year of middle school. What follows is both boys learning about themselves, their bond, and the society they live in.
As Fate Would Have It by ScientificallySinful (VampireGaaraCheesepuffs) | 88,737 | Katsuki Bakugo had plenty of reasons why he wasn't mated yet, not that he was going to explain why to just anyone. But now, Ground Zero was running out of time. If he didn't find someone soon, he'd lose his position as a Pro-Hero and he'd never get to be #1. So, when he finds out there's a male Omega recently arrested for prostitution that's headed to prison if he too doesn't get a mate…well it must be fate. (Quirkless Izuku)
A/B/O – No Quirks
Gravity by warschach | 71,477 | Izuku is back in his hometown and plenty hasn't changed much from the 8 years he was gone. Except, Katsuki Bakugou, the alpha king of their small town. He's hotter- because that's fair, right, God? -, stronger, a now-famous pro fighter, and noticeably nicer this round. Not that he cares, pfft. (Fine, he cares.)
Nine Months by greatcloudninja | 23,303 | Omega Midoriya Izuku connects with Alpha Bakugou Katsuki through an online singles ad. Izuku pays Katsuki to help him with his heat, ending up pregnant in the process. What follows is a pregnancy filled with ups and downs, but whatever hurdles come their way, they can make it through together.
The long dark by Ominous-Anonymous (Ominonymous) | 13,289 | He could have been really dangerous. He could be a fucking murderer for all he knew. But Izuku Midoriya, ever the reckless daredevil, was not thinking of that when he got into a car with a complete stranger. Completely ignoring the part where his mother always taught him to never gets into cars with alphas he didn't know...

I love your characters so freaking much a completely normal and reasonable amount, what system are you using if I may ask? D&D 5e, Pathfinder, Thirsty Sword Lesbians?
Chronicles of Darkness 2.0 :)
All the characters shown are either Changelings, Mages or Vampires, except Calamity (freckle boy who never has a good day) who is a Mortal with a few tricks up his sleeve. We've been playing From Dusk Till Jawn, a chronicle set in Philly, since February? March? 2020.
They're all my favorites but...
Glitch was stolen by a Fae called the Game Master. His extremely special interest is video games. His others are hitting things with other things, eating food other people make, and weed. Once nearly cut Teagan in half with a cold iron sword accidentally; has also repeatedly saved people, too. A member of the Direct Action motley (Changeling found family). Played by Glitchplayer.
Leta is a Mage who can spy on you from anywhere and see the future, and she both manages that and deals with that by being stoned 95% of the time. A member of the Firebirds cadre (Mage found family). Once saved a sacred tree in her underwear, but no one remembered it except her. Played by Werewife.
Jack, on the other hand, is sober, one of the Disaster Darklings motley, and a union man. He's a stagehand, an accidental Changeling diplomat, and one of several trans twinks on the game. Jack has unknowingly pulled off some of the best cross-group diplomacy in the wild game. Played by El.
Vasha doesn't deserve all this. What powers conspire to force him to be an American (for now)? A Ukranian Mage assassin, he keeps trying to get out, but Things keep preventing that. He likes vodka and cranberries, changing the odds, and a well-stocked arsenal, and when he's not involved with any of that, he's probably pulling Fox out of trouble. Or vice versa, though he pretends at suffering greatly and never being the one in trouble. One of the Firebirds. Played by @dadhoc.
Fox has a lot of names, including (technically) a legal one. A Jewish trans shape-shifting Mage, Fox is surprisingly complicated? She's working on reshaping his soul and helping Vasha with Time Crimes. They love pigeons, crows, rats, and other urban wildlife like zir, pelmeni, and shenanigans. Profligately polyamorous, always comes home to Vasha. He once brought an army of pigeons to a battle. It worked. One of the Firebirds. Fox is mine.
June is 4'11", secretly the deadliest member of Direct Action and not so secretly a red panda Beast Changeling. Kept by a zookeeper Fae, she feels awkward with the concept of humans keeping pets. Bees stay by consent, though, which is why when she's not being a firefighter, she tends her hives. Once won American Ninja Warrior (no, really). Played by @apocalycious. The honey's good for making mead, which is good for
Sigrún, taken by a fae impersonating Odin. Actual valkyrie, sorta. Mead Mom of Direct Action. Glow-in-the-dark girl. Weaponsmith. Terminally Minnesotan. She used to be a fight choreographer for Big Shows, until an explosion caused by one of her motleymates (in pursuit of someone who was destroying people's ability to dream) killed 2 firefighters. She changed careers after that; she and June are at the same firehouse. Played by @dadhoc.
Teagan's skin in their Fae Mien is quasi-liquid and the color of the back of an old mirror, their machete has a name (Baby) and their long-lost child (Bailey) showed up recently. Once an assassin for a fae who called itself Le General, these days Teagan collects twinks, buff women, and personal stories, because Everyone Talks To The Mirror. A (very sneaky) non-binary member of Direct Action. Teagan is mine.
Lux was once the guiding light of a cyberpunk city, or at least a fae realm that mimicked one. They're a Disaster Darkling, an artist, engaged to Jack and Mearcstapa, one of the city's foremost oneiromamcers, and Fox's Best Friend With Benefits. Lux likes bright-colored, skimpy clothing, sugary drinks, making assholes trip up over themselves and ruin their own days, and the deep and quiet solitude of dreams. Played by @fofoart (who you should commission to make you art as cool as this!).
Okay, this is very long and I am too tired to look up how to do a cut on mobile, so. I'm gonna stop here. I'd gladly talk about every character on this game, they're all so great, but that post would be ridiculous.

hiii i've just spent the last 36-48 hours reading your works and oh dear do i lOVE your writing and this universe :') . i dont know if you are taking requests but i think it would be kinda interesting (and low key hilarious) if you would write the lions reacting/reading thirst tweets? idk if this is a dumb idea or not but just like some of them reacting to them and going "well i'm actually gay/married so.. no!.. but thank you!"
Part two of the six-month celebration, everyone! Thank you thank you THANK YOU to everyone who submitted comments--I had over 60 come in, and while I couldn’t include them all, reading them was a true joy. The Lion Pride channel was something I started writing on a whim; I never expected it to grow like this <3 Much love to all of you!
TW for alcohol mentions and thirst tweets (nothing explicit)
“Why do I always fear for my life around you?” Sirius asked as Marlene settled into a cushy chair to the side of their table.
She smiled, catlike, and crossed her legs primly. “Because only Finn appreciates me.”
“That’s just the Aries connection, Cap,” Finn said with a smug grin.
“We’re both Leos, Harzy.”
“Eh, close enough.”
Remus raised an eyebrow at her. “You should probably start asking questions before this devolves further, Marley. He’s gonna keep digging himself a hole and we won’t get anything done.”
Marlene’s smile returned with a vengeance. “That’s where you’re wrong, Loops! We’re not doing any questions at all today.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“Read it and weep.” She tossed a small posterboard at him like a frisbee; he caught it, barely, though both Talker and Sirius had to duck out of the way. Marlene faced the camera and winked. “Welcome back to Lion Pride, everyone! Today I’m here with Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, James Potter, Thomas Walker, and our wonderful cubs to react to your comments on our videos!”
“Bet you thought we’d never see ‘em, huh?” James asked.
“The comments fall into four categories: thirsty, funny, mean, and sweet. I will be reading two of those groups, and my lovely fiancée will be reading the others because she is the human embodiment of sunshine.”
“If you make Dorcas read the mean ones, I’ll be sad,” Leo laughed.
Marlene gave him a look of disbelief. “You think I’m passing up a chance to roast you guys? Puh-lease. We’re starting off strong with some thirsty, thirsty comments! Loops, you’re up first.”
“This is going to be fun,” Sirius said, leaning back in his chair.
She cleared her throat, then turned a smoldering look on their table. “I didn’t know I had a freckle kink, but then Remus Lupin appeared and now here we are.”
“Oh, shit,” Remus muttered, covering his face with his hands as the others howled with laughter.
“Lupin has been looking sexy as hell on the bench for years now. I'm so glad people are simping over him like he deserves,” Marlene read. “And there’s a little heart emoji, just for you.”
“This is every one of my nightmares come to life,” Remus said, though his voice was muffled by his forearms.
James lifted his glasses to swipe away the tears of mirth that had gathered in his eyes. “Are you kidding? This is everything I have ever wanted.”
“Y’know, it is so good to see people drooling over this hot piece of ass at last,” Finn sighed, reaching over to ruffle Remus’ hair as his face turned bright red.
“One more, and it’s a good one,” Marlene warned. She licked her lips, then had to take a moment to laugh before speaking. “I feel like Remus Lupin is the type of guy to bake you muffins—”
“Accurate,” Leo said.
“—but is also a kinky motherfucker.”
Remus’ mouth dropped open as the table erupted into cheering. Logan pumped both fists in the air and Sirius was laughing so hard no sound came out; Talker sank so low in his chair that only his head and shoulders were visible as he applauded.
“Why do people comment these things?” Remus asked, barely above a whisper. “Holy fuck, I’m engaged!”
“Speaking of…” Marlene raised her eyebrows and Sirius smile drooped.
“Oh, no.”
“Oh, yes. Buckle up, Cap!” She rolled her shoulders out. “Get someone who looks at you the way Sirius Black looks at a hockey puck.”
Remus snorted; James’ laugh was so short and sharp that it set everyone else off as well. “That sounds like I have a hockey puck fetish!” Sirius complained. “Which is so, so not true!”
Finn made an ‘ehh’ noise, and he leaned around Remus to smack the back of his head. “Hey!”
“Next one!” Marlene announced. “Sirius Black was my bi awakening.”
A beat of silence passed. “Is that it?” Sirius ventured, looking nervous.
“Yep.”
“Aw, man, that one’s lame,” Talker said, shaking his head. “Everyone thinks Cap is a little hot.”
Remus shot him a look. “A little?”
“Fair. Marley, I dare you to find one person who wouldn’t tap that.”
She rolled her eyes. “Me, though that dovetails nicely into the last one for our lovely captain. Ahem. I understand why Remus is with Sirius: he's hot as hell and rich, I'd hit that too.”
“Oh, fuck, you’re right,” Leo gasped. “Why didn’t I think of that?”
Finn and Logan turned to him in unison with a mix of disbelief and offense written all over their faces. “Dude.”
“First of all, Leo, you found yourself two hot rich boys,” Remus interrupted. “Second, that comment is forgetting that he’s funny, and smart, and nice, and—”
Seconds after the initial cover, Sirius took his hand off Remus’ mouth as if he’d been burned. “Did you just lick me?”
“Moving on! This is in all caps, so be prepared.” Marlene shuffled through her posterboards and turned to Leo with an ominous smile. He glanced toward the camera in mild fear. “What does a person have to do to get some hockey player ass?! Like why is Leo Knut so fine?!”
“Amen!” Logan called as Leo blushed.
“According to six of the seven people at this table, the answer to that first question is to be a hockey player,” Talker laughed. “The world may never know the answer to the second, sadly.”
“Lily could play hockey,” James said, resting his chin on his hand. Every single one of the others rolled their eyes. “She could! She’d be so good at it, too.”
“We know,” Finn groaned. “You only mention it every other day.”
“Speaking of the lovely Mrs. Potter,” Marlene began with a sly look as she held up a new card. “Do James and Lily Potter need a third? Asking for me specifically.”
James paused, dumbstruck, while the others drummed their hands on the table. “…no?”
A general sigh of disappointment went up. “I was really hoping he’d say yes,” Leo said.
“Ask Lily next time,” Remus recommended.
James turned to him and blinked slowly. “What are you insinuating, Loops?”
“Oh, nothing.”
“Don’t worry, James, you’ll like this one,” Marlene assured him. “James Potter is the ultimate dilf.”
“You’re damn right I am!” James whooped. “Vindication, bitches!”
“Marley, what have you done?” Talker whispered. “He’ll never shut up about that, now.”
“Oh, never,” James all but cackled. “I’m officially a dilf, you guys!”
“I hate you,” Sirius groaned.
“Tremzy, are you ready? We’ve got a couple very special ones for you,” Marlene said.
“Anything to get us out of this hell,” Logan begged.
“In that case: Logan Tremblay’s ass is better than Sidney Crosby’s. I said what I said.”
A pleased flush rose to his cheeks as Finn and Leo high-fived over his head. “Really? Thank you!”
“And they would be correct!” Finn announced. “Best ass in the league.”
“Come on,” Remus scoffed, though he was smiling.
Marlene cleared her throat to get their attention. “I don’t think I can legally read this on air without being censored or getting the video taken down, but…”
She turned the board around; all seven of them leaned forward to read it, then slowly looked at Logan, who turned vivid red. “Mon dieu. Is that—someone commented that on a video? Like, for people to see?”
“I feel like I need to bleach my eyes,” Sirius said just as Finn began shaking with silent laughter.
Leo’s face fell. “You wrote that, didn’t you?”
“I did,” Finn wheezed, scooting forward to fist-bump Marlene. “We wanted to see what you guys would say. Fuckin’ hell, your faces.”
“Alright, Talkie, are you ready?” Marlene asked around her laughter. “Seeing Thomas Walker with a baby makes me want to have his babies…please hit me up.”
He held up his index finger and took a second to laugh before responding. “If that’s Noelle, yes. If that’s anyone else, I’m flattered, but absolutely not.”
Logan made a face. “Ew.”
“We have two more,” Marlene warned. “For some very special people that aren’t here today, but I think you’ll like them anyway.”
Sirius narrowed his eyes. “I don’t trust the look on your face.”
“Daddy Dumo makes me swoon.”
A muddle of horrified noises echoed through the studio as all seven of them cringed. “Oh, my god, that’s my dad!” Logan yelped, covering his ears. Sirius looked vaguely ill and Remus’ shoulders crept toward his ears; James shuddered.
“The worst part is, we all know he can get it,” Finn said with a grimace. “God, I feel like I just heard someone talking about my parents having sex.”
“I’m sure he’ll love to hear that,” Marlene laughed. “Last one, from one of our truth or drinks.”
Remus went pale half a second too late. “N—”
“Hope Lupin is a milf.”
A broken noise escaped his mouth and he clamped his hand over it while Talker rubbed his back in sympathy. Sirius shook his head. “Somehow, that’s worse than Dumo’s.”
“Whoever sent that in, show some respect!” Leo said indignantly as Remus bonked his forehead against the table. “Hope Lupin is a lovely woman!”
“I think they noticed that particular fact,” Marlene pointed out, earning herself several scandalized shouts of her name and a whine from Remus. “That’s all we have for thirst comments! Are you ready for some funny ones?”
“Anything,” Remus pleaded. “I am begging you, anything else.”
Marlene shook her head as she stood, still smiling, and kissed Dorcas on the cheek when she entered the frame. “Go for it, love.”
“Dorcas!” they all cheered, lighting up immediately.
“Hey, guys, it’s been a while!” She curled up in Marlene’s vacant spot and took her own posterboards out from underneath the seat. “Alright, let’s rock and roll. Pascal Dumais is the team dad and nothing will change my mind, and Tremzy is the annoying youngest child.”
“That is so accurate,” Sirius laughed, leaning just out of range of Logan’s playful punch. “Whoever commented that has no idea how right they are.”
“We’ve got a whole sibling dynamic thing going on,” Talker agreed. “Tremzy’s the baby of the family, Cap is the quietly chaotic middle child, and Pots is the older brother that starts shit and inevitably gets blamed for however out-of-control it gets.”
Dorcas nodded. “You are one hundred percent correct. In a similar vein: Pots was the dad jokes friend before he was even a dad.”
“Painfully so,” Leo confirmed, shaking his head as they all groaned in agreement. James looked rather smug about the whole thing. “So many puns.”
“Oh, you’ll like this one,” Dorcas mused as she drew a new card. “If Tremzy looked directly into my eyes for even two seconds, all of my problems would be solved. I am sure of it.”
“Yes,” Finn and Leo said in unison.
“It’s something about the eyes, I think,” James added. “They just stand out so much that it’s a little startling straight-on.”
Logan looked to the camera and stared at it, unblinking; it zoomed in slightly on his face. “Everything will be fine,” he said with mock solemnity. “Your problems are solved.”
“Well, that was terrifying,” Sirius said drily. “Got any more for us, Ms. Meadowes?”
“Of course I do! We’ve got quite a few for Loops and Leo.” She took a sip of her water before getting comfortable again. “My favorite thing about these videos is that we can all see Loops get steadily buffer as the season goes on. Good for you, king!”
“Flex! Flex! Flex!” the six of them chanted; Remus rolled his eyes, but slid his sweater sleeve to his elbow and flexed his forearm, resulting in enough hoots and hollers that they could probably be heard a block away. Talker fake-swooned into Leo’s arms and Remus lightly whacked him on the shoulder.
“Remus Lupin looks like he has squishable cheeks,” Dorcas read aloud.
“He does!” James cooed, scooting over and reaching out.
Remus narrowed his eyes. “I swear to god I’ll bite you.”
Sirius cupped his face between his palms and kissed his nose, then pinched both his cheeks gently. “Ta-da!”
“How many of these do we have?” Remus asked, though his voice was a bit muffled by Sirius’ hands.
“Just one more for you, and it’s my personal favorite.” Dorcas assured him. “I love how the team probably had no impulse control until Loops joined.”
Sirius let go of his face and dissolved into laughter as Finn nearly fell on the floor. “Oh my—you think he has impulse control?” Talker slapped the edge of the table as he shook his head. “Absolutely not. Hell no, Loops is the first person to do stupid shit with us.”
“Yeah, I just don’t get caught,” Remus added around his own laughter. “Everyone thinks I’m such a hardass goody-two-shoes and it lets me get away with so much more than you delinquents.”
“Speaking of delinquents,” Dorcas continued. “This one is from our ‘Taste Testing Sexy Alcohol’ video: ah, yes, now I know how to do a body shot. 10/10, very educational video.”
“Do not take educational advice from us,” Finn blurted instantly. “I know this is a joke, but please exercise caution. That video was a ton of fun but a nightmare to recover from.”
Sirius winced at the memory. “I took two naps and then wished for death for a full day.”
“On a lighter note, who’s ready for some Knutty appreciation?” Dorcas smiled at her cards. “I've only had Leo Knut for a season and half, but if anything happened to him, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself.”
“Big mood,” four of them said simultaneously.
Leo turned to the camera with a concerned look on his face. “That’s a meme reference, but are y’all okay?”
“No,” Dorcas answered. “Especially not this next person: Sometimes I do something productive and then I remember @LeoKnut is a 19 year old professional athlete who radiates happiness and with two of the hottest boyfriends the good lord has made, and then my bowl of packaged ramen seems less impressive.”
“I’m proud of your ramen,” Leo said, even as the corners of his mouth twitched in a smile. “And I appreciate the note about my boyfriends, because they are definitely the hottest people the good lord has made.”
Talker stuck his lip out in a pout. “Rude.”
“Sorry, Talkie, I’m biased.”
“Last one before Marlene comes back, so you’d better enjoy it!” Dorcas announced. “Did the Lions effectively utilize girl power when they wrecked toxic masculinity, yes or yes?”
“Can we utilize girl power?” Remus wondered, resting his shin on his hand. “Isn’t that exclusively for, y’know, women?”
“We can utilize himbo power,” Finn suggested.
James gave him an offended look. “Not all of us are himbos!”
“Okay, but you definitely are.”
“I am not!” James held up his fingers to count. “There are only, like, three qualifications, right? I might be strong, hot, and respectful, but I’m not dumb so it doesn’t count!”
“Pots,” Remus said quietly, hiding his smile for half a second. “Buddy, that was four things.”
James paused, then sighed in resignation. “Ah, fuck, I’m a himbo.”
“You really are.”
“At least we don’t promote toxic masculinity.”
They raised their waterbottles in a ‘cheers’ motion as Marlene and Dorcas switched spots; Marlene stretched her arms over her head and grabbed the new boards. “I’m back, beloved himbos. Talker, Leo, you are beloved by the people and have no mean comments. Cap, we’re starting with you.”
“Are they actually mean mean?” he asked.
“Sirius Black seems like a little bitch. Not in a bad way, necessarily. He just. Seems like he'd be a little bitch."
Sirius raised his eyebrows. “Oh, okay. That answers one question.”
“He’s not a little bitch,” Leo said. “Pouty on occasion, but not a little bitch.”
Remus gave him a long look, then shook his head. “Yeah, I mean, you teared up a little when Hattie got a splinter in her paw but didn’t even yell when you almost sliced your finger off while making dinner.”
“Duality of man,” Finn said sagely.
Marlene cocked an eyebrow. “Finn O’Hara’s hair kind of reminds me of Garfield the Cat.”
“Alright, that’s just rude.”
“It does not!” Logan gasped at the same time Leo made a noise of agreement.
Finn turned to him in utter betrayal. “Nutter Butter, I thought you liked my hair!”
“I do!” Leo defended. “But they’re not entirely wrong. It’s very orange in the sun.”
“I’m never going to forget that,” Finn muttered, staring at the floor.
“Ugh, it bothers me so much that Lupin just objectifies Black all the time!” Marlene read in a high-pitched, nasal voice. “No respect in that relationship!”
Sirius raised his eyebrows. “Pardon?”
Marlene stared at it for a moment, then shrugged. “Yeah, I have no idea what videos they were watching. Do you feel objectified in your relationship, Cap? I know the opinion of total strangers really bothers you a lot.”
“I’m really glad you picked up on that,” he said with false gravity. “Yeah, it’s such a bummer when my hot fiancé says I look nice. Such a blow to my self-esteem.”
“That was supposed to be a roast against me,” Remus said, looking amused. “Talk about backfiring.”
“Are you ready, Pots? This one’s pretty brutal,” Marlene warned. James nodded and Finn linked their hands for moral support. “James Potter is a swiftie and you cannot tell me otherwise.”
He furrowed his eyebrows. “…yeah? That’s true? T Swift is a regular occurrence on the locker room playlist.”
“Also, James Potter looks like someone who would think black pepper was spicy.”
“Now that one is mean,” he complained as the others burst out laughing. “It’s not my fault I have sensitive taste buds!”
“Oh, honey,” she said under her breath as she took a new card. “Get ready, Tremzy. This first one is short and sweet: Logan Tremblay looks like a lesbian.”
“That is not an insult,” Logan laughed. “Every lesbian I know is rad as fuck. I wish I looked that good in a leather jacket.”
“I just realized Logan doesn’t look short cause he’s next to bunch of hockey players, he’s short cause he’s 5’9.”
The smile slipped off his face in a millisecond as the others roared with laughter. “Quoi?”
“Oh, she got you good,” Sirius gasped, patting his shoulder clumsily. “Holy fuck, can I frame that?”
“That’s not what it says.” An edge of distress appeared in Logan’s voice. “Marley, that’s not what it says.”
James sat on the floor with the heels of his palms pressed against his eyes. “You’re fucking—whoever sent that in, you are my new favorite person. Jesus.”
“Do you need a second to recover before we move on?” Dorcas asked as she draped her arms over the back of Marlene’s chair. “The next one is our biggest section by far.”
“It’s the sweet ones, yeah?” Leo asked.
“Right.”
“It might be a good idea to do those before Lo spontaneously combusts.”
“Agreed!” She swapped with Marlene and hauled a short stack of posterboards out from their hiding place with a smile. “A hug from Dumo can probably solve any issue.”
“Facts,” Logan said. “I could really use one right about now, too.”
“Has anyone noticed how blue Leo Knut’s eyes are?”
“Yes,” the six of them chorused.
Finn gave him a dreamy look. “Every single day.”
“When I first read this one, I thought I wrote it,” Dorcas said with a snort. “Someone give Marlene a raise. No reason why, I just love her.”
“Can we do that?” Sirius asked, looking toward the camera crew. “Can we lobby to give you guys raises? Because you definitely deserve it after all the bullshit you deal with to make these videos watchable, and Marlene, you’ve drawn the short end of the stick ninety percent of the time.”
“How?” she called off-screen.
“You have to actually talk to us and try to get answers.”
“Fair.”
Dorcas finished scribbling something down on her notepad. “Just making a note of this conversation for future reference. Moving on! Sirius Black and James Potter are a prime example of hockey husbands, and I adore them.”
“The ironic part of that is that we’re both in committed relationships, but we’re basically married,” James mused.
Remus shook his head. “You guys are so married. Lily wanted to get you matching rings for your birthday, Pots.”
“That would be so cool!” they said in perfect unison. Remus turned to the camera and spread his hands in a case in point motion.
Dorcas stifled her laughter before moving on. “This one is cute. Give Remus Lupin all the hugs! I feel like I could tell him he’s an inspiration and he’d be so nice about it—” She paused to glance up at them. “—this next bit is in parentheses: all the LGBT Lions give me that vibe, but Cap and Knutty are super intimidating so I wouldn’t have the guts.”
Leo’s face fell and Sirius’ eyebrows pitched. “I’m not intimidating!” Leo protested. “I thought we already went over that! Loops gives fantastic hugs, but I want some, too.”
“He definitely deserves all the hugs in the world, but I promise I’m nice,” Sirius said, a bit softer than usual. “Is it because we’re tall?”
Dorcas half-shrugged. “Probably. It’s a little startling at first. Oh, I could’ve written this one, too: The Venn diagram of men I trust and the Gryffindor Lions is a full circle.”
Talker beamed at the camera. “Thank you!”
“So many hockey guys are such douchebags,” Logan said with a shake of his head. “I’m really glad we don’t do that shit.”
“Me, too.” Dorcas slid her old card under her chair. “Sirius Black’s hair looks so soft and I just want to touch it so bad.”
“It is so soft,” Remus agreed immediately. “You have no idea.”
“Everyone wants to touch Cap’s hair,” Finn said, sighing. “It’s so majestic.”
“I need a haircut.”
“No, you don’t,” Remus said as he tugged a stray curl. Sirius hummed.
“This one is from the interview some you did with Jules and Katie: these hockey boys being so soft with kids is my aesthetic! Like, it’s just so adorable to see these big, intimidating dudes be so, so sweet! Love them all!” She turned the card for them to see. “And then they added a heart at the end.”
“It’s impossible to be around those kids and not be happy,” James said. “They’re just too cute and wonderful.”
“Yeah, I love kids.” Finn nodded. “Especially the Dumais and Jules. They’re a hoot.”
“Jules would die if he heard you say that,” Remus laughed. “The hero worship is still going strong with most of you.”
“This one made me laugh when I first read it, but it’s really sweet,” Dorcas informed them. “Anyone else feel like we were deceived these past five years into thinking Cap was this hard-ass man, when in reality he's a cuddle bug who definitely captures and releases spiders instead of squishing them?”
“You weren’t deceived, I was just closeted,” Sirius said. “Also, I absolutely squish spiders.”
Remus gave him a look. “No, you do not. That’s my job. I’m the catch and release person if I can get away with it.”
James shook his head. “The third week of practices you saw a spider and threw me at it.”
“You did what?” Finn asked.
“There was a spider in my stall,” Sirius sighed, looking as if he would rather be anywhere else. “And Pots and I were talking so I didn’t see it until I almost sat on it, and my brain decided the only logical thing to do would be to grab him and shove him toward the spider.”
“That was after you shrieked,” Talker added. “Like, literally shrieked. I’ve never heard anyone make a noise like that.”
“Alright, alright,” Sirius grumbled. “We get it, I don’t like spiders.”
Remus shrugged. “But you are a cuddle bug. They got that part right.”
“We’re in the final two!” Dorcas announced. “This one has some pictures to go with it, so it’s on my phone. Fuck Romeo and Juliet, I want what these bitches have.”
“It’s us!” Leo cooed as the phone made its way down the line. In the upper corner of the screen, the photo appeared—it had been taken in New York, and Logan’s whole face was alight with happiness as Leo and Finn each pressed a kiss to his cheek. The camera caught him mid-laugh, so his eyes were closed and his chin was tucked slightly into Finn’s Strand hoodie.
“That’s my screensaver,” Finn said with a grin, pulling his phone out and turning it toward the camera without moving away from Leo. “One of my favorites.”
“I forgot you took that one,” Logan murmured. He hooked his chin over Leo’s shoulder and kissed his cheek; the four others at the table gave soft are you seeing this? looks to the camera and Dorcas smiled.
“Pots, I think yours is next. I hate to break it to you, Talkie, but they didn’t get any of you and Noelle.”
“We don’t take a ton of pictures together,” Talker said as James took the phone. “I mean, we take a bunch of selfies, but we don’t live close enough to each other to actually post that often. What picture is it, J?”
James was staring down at the picture with an unbearably sweet expression. “It’s our wedding. That’s my favorite one, actually.”
Like Logan, they had been captured while laughing—Lily was bent slightly at the waist as James clapped, his glasses just as askew as the flower crown on her head. It was impossible to tell who had told the joke originally, but they were both radiant in the sunset.
“That’s a really good one,” Sirius said with an unreadable look on his face.
“Well, well, well, fancypants, you two got a video.” James wiggled his eyebrows and Remus leaned in to see.
“What kind of video? One of our tikt—oh. Oh, this is so cute.” He shifted his chair over as the short edit began to play. “D, who made this?”
“A fan.”
“It’s really impressive,” Sirius said without taking his eyes off the screen. The edit was a series of photos, both on and off the ice; Sirius knocking their helmets together, then Remus looking back over his shoulder, then both of them in the water playing chicken in the sun. It was a slideshow of their life and their love.
“Can you send that to me?” Remus asked when it was over. “Cause that’s super cool.”
“Sure thing. Are you guys ready for the last one?” When they all nodded, she drummed her fingers on the posterboard and cleared her throat. “Arthur appreciation hours. He deserves it after managing to control the team.”
A cheer went up—all seven stood and applauded, half-laughing and half-whooping. “Miracle worker!” Sirius called.
“Best coach in the league!” Finn added.
“Most tolerant man to ever walk the earth!” Remus raised his water in a toast and they tapped the plastic edges together, nearly spilling all over the table.
Dorcas’ eyes crinkled in a smile as she turned to the camera. “That’s it for today, Lions! Tune in next time for more content of our boys, and thank you for such wonderful comments!”

Mi Viejito (Ethan x f!MC)
Pairing: Dr. Ethan Ramsey x F!MC (Dr. Lilac Allende) Words: 1K Warning: None Summary: Father’s Day more than twenty years later.
Author’s Note: “Mi Viejito” means “Old Man” (affectionate). Thank you to the two anons who requested this!
Also, no editing. Oops. We die like men.
Twenty five years are not enough to dull the impact of startling blue eyes meeting hers across a room. For a moment, she feels like that fresh-faced intern she used to be, meeting her medical idol for the first time. Except now, Ethan Ramsey has the elegance of time on his side, carved into every fine line on his handsome face. His hair, once dark brown, is a storm of silver now, making the blue of his eyes even more of a shock.
A pleasant sort of shock that makes her body thrum with warmth.
Ethan removes his spectacles and gives her a tired but breathtaking smile. Lilac returns it, moving to settle into her husband's embrace.
“Happy Father's Day, mi viejito,” she murmurs into a kiss. After his hum of thanks, they melt into the kiss, enjoying the rare few moments of blissful companionship.
“Where are the girls?” he asks after a while, as though reading her mind.
“Andy should be here any moment to drop them off.”
“Ah, the calm before the storm,” he muses with exaggerated dread. It doesn't fool anyone, least of all Lilac. Anyone who glances at Ethan Ramsey with his children for more than two seconds knows just how much he adores them. “What about Lori and Jonah?”
“Jonah hasn't texted me back and Lori is on her date.”
“Hrm.”
Lilac laughs. “Hunter's a nice kid. He's taking her on a boat ride at the Common.”
Ethan is not impressed.
“It's a cute date for two seventeen year-olds,” Lilac reasons with little success.
“Pitiful.”
“You took me on one of those when we were engaged.”
“I meant his name. What kind of name is Hunter?”
She laughs at that and places a kiss on his cheek, succeeding in softening his expression by a fraction. “You're just upset your little girl is all grown up.”
Ethan's expression is as impassive as ever but Lilac can see the brief flash of sadness in his eyes. She places a comforting hand at his cheek, sweeping the ridge of his cheekbone with her thumb.
“She'll be back in time for dinner. And I'm sure Jonah will text me back later. He's been swamped with school work these past few days.”
Ethan nods but is unable to elaborate an answer because the sound of approaching voices grows louder outside the door.
The youngest Ramseys arrive then, three times more boisterous than any teenagers their age. Though, to the surprise of exactly no one, the person in the little group arguing the loudest is Jasmine. Andy rolls her eyes, unable to contain a smile at the charming young girl trying to talk her way out of whatever trouble she's gotten into.
“Seriously, it's okay. Our dad owns the hospital.”
“He manages it,” her twin, Violet, corrects.
“Same thing,” Jasmine returns dismissively. “He as good as owns it if the place falls apart without him.”
“That,” Ethan intervenes, placing a kiss of greeting atop each of their heads, “would be your mother. She does the brunt of the work around here.”
Jasmine scoffs. “And yet the man gets all the credit.”
“Typical,” Violet adds.
Ethan and Lilac both laugh proudly. After Andy takes her leave for the day, the girls hug their father.
“Happy Father's day!” They chorus.
“We brought you coffee from that place you and mom are obsessed with.”
They thrust a to-go cup in his hand.
“We remembered,” Jasmine says importantly. “Not like Tweedle dee and Tweedle Ugly.”
“Jazzie,” her mother scolds. “Don't call your brother and sister that.”
“Ingrates,” Violet adds, agreeing with her sister. “Write them out of your will, Dad.”
Ethan is fully laughing now, a sound that is rare and wonderful, easily drawn out of him by his family. The little crevices on his face grow deeper with his mirth and it tugs at Lilac's heartstrings.
“If we're divvying up Dad's stuff then I call Minnie,” Jasmine proclaims.
“You can have that cat now, Ethan returns intently. “I don't want anything to do with that thing.”
“I call Jenner the Second,” Violet calls out before her sister can.
They dissolve into an impassioned argument about who loves the dog more. Luckily for all of them, they are interrupted by the sound of more approaching footsteps, followed by even more arguing voices.
“... doesn't have his license yet.”
“What good is a license if he doesn't even have a car.”
“You don't need a car in the city. You can get around in the train.”
“Then why did you text me begging for a ride here?”
“You're such a jerk, J.”
The eldest of their children appear in the office, ceasing all bickering when their eyes fall on the father. Dolores, beautiful and bright faced from the sun, the freckles on her cheeks more vivid as she smiles. Jonah, tall, collected, and handsome—reassembling his father more than any of his siblings. Lilac watches fondly as they hug Ethan and wish him a happy father's day. After the brief surprise of their sudden appearance wears off, she can see her husband's eyes shining with emotion.
“We're taking you to lunch,” Lori informs him. “Jonah got us reservations at your favorite place downtown.”
“Nice, that place has the best chocolate cake,” Jasmine says excitedly.
“We said we're taking dad, not you freeloaders,” Jonah returns jokingly, ruffling his younger sister's hair.
“It’s father’s day! We deserve to be celebrated, too!”
“How do you figure that, squirt?”
“Who taught you how to throw a ball, Jonah Naveen Ramsey?” Jasmine demands indignantly.
“Who gave you pointers on how to impress that girl down the street you used to have a crush on?” Violet adds.
“Who Googled 'how to drive a stick shift car' when you borrowed Dad's car without asking him?”
“You what?” Ethan asks, turning to look at his son.
“Who—”
“Alright, alright! You can come with,” Jonah cuts in. “You two are insufferable, I swear.”
“That's no way to speak to your fathers,” Jasmine chastises.
The siblings continue their banter, taking turns predicting what their father will order. The one who knows his order exactly, Lilac observes, is Dolores, though she has no chance to boast to her siblings. Ethan’s pager goes off and he groans when he reads the message.
“There’s a problem with the paperwork in the Sawyer case,” he tells Lilac. With a mournful twist of his mouth, he looks at his children. “I’m sorry but I have to go handle this. Lunch won’t--”
“I’ll stay to take care of it,” Lilac interrupts.
Ethan studies her expression. “Are you sure, love? It’s an awfully complicated case.”
“I’m sure,” she assures him with a nod. “Go enjoy lunch with them.”
Ethan gives her a look so laden with gratitude and affection, her heart skips a beat.
“Geez, you were right, Dad,” Jasmine says. “Mom really does run this place.”
“Or she just prefers dealing with grumpy patients over hearing your awful jokes, Jazzy,” Dolores comments, side bumping her sister affectionately.
“Mom is a pro at dealing with grumpy, though,” Jonah tells them sagely. “She’s dealt with Dad all these years.”
Ethan laughs at that. “You kids won’t cut your old man a break on father’s day?”
“Nope,” Violet returns cheerfully. “Roasting you is our way of telling you we love you.”

You know what, I think some of you never actually read a book or watched a movie before because...
BNHA isn't the only story where there are other side stories to fill in the gap. Yes, we get other character arcs since hello, we do have other characters. That's how storytelling works sometimes. There is multiple characters.
However! The whole plot of BNHA is about Midoriya 'Deku' Izuku. The other characters are accessories.
People complaining about villains not getting enough screentime or hating on Deku and other hero characters forgot that this story is called My HERO Academia. It's not about the villains. They get their stories and character details to make the story engaging. Villains are needed for there to even be a hero. They have backstories to show why they even became villains to give reason, to give some depth to them. Honestly, villain stans get fed just a little more than other fans. Promo art, merch, the trailers, actual backstories! A whole arc!!
Seriously, you lot need to zip your lips and stop with your nonsense. Chill out. Yes, we know the hero characters aren't perfect, whoopie fucking doo. That's one of the points made about this series. Everyone is flawed. Just because a villain has a sad backstory doesn't mean everyone is going to feel sorry for them. Let alone, in series, not everyone knows that villain's childhood trauma. Again, you do really think Miruko knows Shigaraki's childhood? No. So of course, she's going to attack him. Remember, he is still a bad guy.
Honestly, it's hard being a Miruko fan for the fact she gets hate for DOING HER JOB. Not all villain fans are like this, but some of you really need to humble your fucking selves.
Hell, that's more than... imagine being a fan of Ojiro, a kid who is in a HERO COURSE WITH A TAIL! I personally feel like he deserves a lot more love because of that reason alone.
And on that note, hero fans, same thing for you! I get wanting to see more Shoto or Iida or more Hawks or whatever other hero character, but you shut up, too if you're not understanding and complaining that Midoriya is still the protagonist. For goodness sakes he was gone for so long! All that time we did get some more of other characters! Disrespected or whatever else, at least there's a glimpse. Sucks, yeah I understand. But...
At this point, it's getting sad that some of you really don't know how storytelling works. We got a protagonist and then other characters to give the story some depth, some interesting bits. Those extra characters will probably get extra details to give even more depth or maybe some relevance. But at the end of the day, the protagonist is who the story is about. With and without flaws.
In this case, Midoriya 'Deku' Izuku, the damn 9th ninth holder of OFA with the green hair and freckles is that protagonist. He is going to do protagonist things. Powerups, extra powers, saving the day.
IT'S ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY!! HELLO!!!
Just know I'm also quick to block and give you memes as a respond for any disrespect. I could care less how any of you are feeling because some of you need to chill out. If you got in your feelings, tough.
#never watched any animes or nothing in your lives i swear#bnha#mha#boku no hero academia#my hero academia#just kiya's thoughts#midoriya izuku#izuku midoriya#deku

hii! can I request headcanons/scenario (up to you) to kuroo's first year sister becoming nekoma's manager (also kuroo is a little overprotective) and the team going to a training camp with the others for the fist time? thank you in advance!
Awh yes of course this prompt made my heart go !!! This is a tad crack-filled but it has its’ sappy moments, I hope you enjoy!!
The Younger Kuroo
----------------------
“And what do we say when a boy asks for your number?”
“Oh please, jump into my bed. I’ve been waiting.”
You dodge the thump to the forehead from Kuroo’s thumb as you hide behind a cackling Yaku, who wiped a tear from his eyes at the promise of death in your older brother’s eyes.
“No. Try again.”
“I’m not five~” you whine, stretching your legs out from the slightly cramped bus ride. You loved Lev like a brother, but his legs hardly gave you any room to sit comfortably. Said boy hadn’t even realized until towards the end of the ride, panicking and taking your bags up for you as an apology with a sheepish grin on his cat-like features.
Kai thumps your head for Kuroo, causing you to protest. “Kai! I’m supposed to be your favorite!”
“Keep making jokes about bringing boys into your bed and you won’t be.”
“Um sir, I’m actually going to be sleeping on a futon-”
You dodge the next flick to your head, grumbling about how your brother’s team abuses their own manager as you run ahead to catch up with Kenma, ignoring the agitated calls for your ass to get back there from your brother.
Kuroo rolls his eyes at the actions of his younger sister, watching Kenma show you what he was playing as Yaku brings a hand up to his neck, the three third-years watching with slightly worried expressions as their little sister figure hops onto Inuoka’s back.
“Will she really be okay?”
“She’s smart. She can take care of herself.”
“MORI, INUOKA ATE MY COOKIES!”
“I BOUGHT THEM FOR YOU-”
“Inuoka don’t steal her snacks! She’s still growing!”
Kuroo sighs, the captain raising a hand to his eyes as Kai grins lopsidedly next to him, looking a little apologetic.
“Nevermind. She’s a dumbass.”
“So...we should worry about her?”
This would be a long training camp.
--------------------------------------
“Yamamoto, bend your knees a little more.” You instruct, resting a hand on the boy’s back as Yamamoto nervously looks to the side in case Kuroo was looking. You roll your eyes, applying more pressure. Your brother’s overprotective nature was funny at times, but not when it got into your duties as team manager.
“Are you really her?!”
“Bokuto, I said no!”
You blink, hiding behind Yamamoto on instinct as a boy with burly arms and silver hair came running towards you, excitement brimmed in his gold irises as Kuroo holds his collar with an irk mark. A second guy with slightly disheveled hair came walking in tow, hands stuffed in his pockets as if this were an every day occurence. You focus in on their shirts. Fukurodani Academy.
“Huh? Wait...” The Fukurodani member looks deep in thought. “She’s like, totally cute. What happened to you?”
“Akaashi, please claim your pet.” Kuroo snips, but before the second boy can step forward, you’re laughing and stepping out from your hiding place and extending a hand to the silver haired boy, who grips it excitedly as he ignores Kuroo’s protests.
“I’m Kuroo Y/N! The totally cuter sibling.”
“Bokuto Kotaro! You can call me Bokuto onee-chan!”
“No you cannot.”
“...Bo onee-chan?” you offer a bit timidly, ignoring the glower from your older brother as you hide your smirk.
Bokuto swooned, causing the second boy to nudge him, an amused look tickling his features as he bows respectfully.
“Akaashi Keiji.”
“Keiji-Kun?” You grin, and the blue-eyed boy takes on a look of surprise and seems to ponder it for a moment, nodding his head before bowing again.
“We’ll be taking our leave, Kuroo-san.”
“Call me Y/N!” You call, the setter turning slightly in their depart to nod to you as Bokuto fist pumps the air, claiming you were totally his type before you zone in on your unamused older brother, whose arms were crossed as you grin a little sheepishly.
“You’re telling me you know those two hotties and you’ve never bothered to set me up?”
“Y/N-”
“Joking! It was a joke!” You say a little too quickly, jogging off to encourage Kenma to get his ass off the bench as Kuroo groans, tugging Kai and Yaku off to the sidelines.
“...yeah. we might need to worry.”
“What are you talking about?” Mori laughs. “She’s not a kid, Kuroo. We don’t need to look after her as much as we did before.”
---------------------------------------
“Literally fuck what I said before.”
“Just how the hell did she manage to befriend the whole Karasuno team?” Kuroo grits out, Bokuto chuckling to his side as Akaashi reminds Kuroo not to snap his chopsticks in half.
“Even Tsukki isn’t telling her to leave his sight. Is she magic or what?”
The event where you were sitting between the vice-captain and wing spiker of the Karasuno team during that evening meal had begun when the captain had accidentally sent a receive towards your head, the goregous team manager managing to protect you in time with a swift wave of her hand. The vice-captain had rushed up to you in a hurry, apologizing profusely before the hyper libero invited you to come eat dinner with them, claiming he would buy you anything you wanted from the snack vendors afterwards.
“Daichi, if you don’t stop apologizing, I will press charges.” You warn, placing more rice in your mouth as Yachi giggles from across you, eyes curious.
“It’s hard to believe you’re Kuroo-san’s little sister, Y/N.”
“You’re not scary...at all. Are you sure you two are related?” Hinata blanches, pretending he can’t see the glower from the captain across the cafeteria. You shrug, shooing the offered fried katsu from Sugawara’s chopsticks away.
“Eat, Suga. I’m not dead.” You huff, turning to reply to your new friend. “And Hinata, don’t talk with your mouth full. Sadly, we came from the same womb and he was my first bully.”
The fact that you were both first years made you get along easily with the freckled boy, Yachi, Hinata, and even the genius blue-eyed setter and the tall middle blocker managed to engage in conversation with you one or two times. You noticed that the boy who claimed a little too boisterously to call him “Tanaka-Senpai” and the libero “Nishinoya-senpai” were looking at you with stars in your eyes before cutting you off mid-conversation.
“Was being saved by Kiyoko a mesmerizing experience?”
“Daichi, why don’t you throw a volleyball at their head so they can see?”
“Suga, I said I was sorry, I feel bad enough!”
“You hurt a kouhai!” Suga over dramticizes, playfully creating a human shield between you and the captain. “You don’t even deserve to look at her!”
You laugh, the laugh dwindling slightly when you meet Kuroo’s eyes from across the room. The team all look down at once, Lev pouting and Yaku seeming to be a little more quiet as Yamamoto and Fukunaga pretend to carry on a conversation.
The captain looks away quickly, and you frown, focusing on your meal. It looks like you were going to have an unexpected team meeting tonight.
----------------------------
“All right. Why is everyone on edge?” You throw the door open, not even flinching when some of your boys were in the middle of putting their shirts on. Lev and Inuoka both squeal overdramatically, covering their bodies.
“Y/N you perv!”
“Oh shut up, you always walk around shirtless and I say nothing!” You protest, plopping down in your brother’s futon. “Where is Kuroo anyway?”
“Out. You know you can’t be in the boys’ dorms this late, Y/N. Do you want me to walk you?” Yaku crosses his arms strictly, and you sidle up to Kenma before resting your head on his shoulder tiredly, the boy you grew up with not even reacting as he continues to tap away on his console.
“Nope.” You pop the p. “I just feel like I should say something. So gather around, chums.”
“What, are you british now?”
“Lev I seem to remember asking you to gather around, not hit me with an attitude.” You reply sassily, clapping your hands together. “Group circle. Now.”
“She does have that captain vibe.” Yamamoto mumbles to Fukunaga as he simply nods in response. As your boys gather, you wait for them to settle before starting.
“Okay, so welcome to alcoholic’s anonymous-”
“Never mind. She doesn’t have a captain vibe, I must’ve been crazy.”
“Hi I’m Inuoka, and-
“Get to the point Y/N.” Kai says seriously as he yawns. You cross your legs, pressing the off button on Kenma’s console before looking at each of them individually, a seriousness in your eyes that was rarely there.
“You do know I love you guys, right? Just because we’re at a training camp doesn’t mean I like the other teams more than I like you...so I wanted to say I’m sorry if it seemed like I was being a little neglectful...” You trail off, fiddling with your fingers. “I know some of you see me as your younger sister, and I really really don’t want you guys to feel like you guys are replaceable, because you aren’t.”
You look up to see a mixture of surprise as some near tears (Lev and Inuoka) before you hastily add, “And thus that ends my cheesy speech. Anyway, I struggle with high-amounts of alcohol consumption-”
You’re cut off when the first years tackle you into a hug, crying they’re really glad you’re their manager as you struggle to breathe. You look up after you manage to shove them off, Yaku ruffling your hair as Kai crosses his arms with a satisfied grin on his face. Even Kenma had a little smile on his face before turning his console back on.
“Sis.”
You freeze up. It was time to face the final boss. Your head turns to sheepishly smile at Kuroo before he rolls his eyes, jutting his head to the side slightly.
“I’ll walk you out.”
“Goodnight Y/N!”
“We love you!”
“Speak for yourself-”
“Shut up Kenma, we know you do.”
-------------------------
“So you heard?” You walk next to your older brother, arms swinging loosely as Kuroo hums in response, hands shoved in his jacket pockets.
“It was nice for you to clarify.” Kuroo speaks after a few brief moments of comfortable silence. “For awhile, we were the only team that didn’t have a manager to deal with us, so I’m not surprised they got a little worried seeing you cozy up to other teams. One might say even a little possessive.”
Kuroo stops, and you turn curiously to face your brother.
“It honestly makes me really scared to think one of these bastards might steal my little sister away. None of them are deserving of you, and I’ll be damned if I let you think that they are.”
You blink. Kuroo saying nice things seemed to only happen once in a blue moon.
“Tetsurou-nii.” You say softly, tugging on Kuroo’s sleeve. “I’m not a kid anymore, you know? I’m not that middle schooler that always followed you and your friends around, having an unexplainable crush on Kenma-”
“Get to the point.”
“I’m happy you care.” You hug him, feeling Kuroo relax into your embrace. “But you gotta let me grow up some day, you know? And that thing about none of the team being replaceable?”
Your grip tightens just a little more. “You’re the one it applies to the most. You’re my one and only older brother who pisses me off at times, but...I...ugh god....why is this so hard? I uh... l-love you, big bro.”
You feel a hand rest on the top of your head as Kuroo sighs. “I love you too, little sis, so stop saying gross stuff.”
“Then don’t pout at me from across the cafeteria!”
“Who the hell was pouting? Me? You must be losing your sight, crazy woman.”
“At least my hair doesn’t look like a duck’s ass.”
“At least I’m tall.”
“Don’t be bitter because you weren’t apart of our alcoholic’s anonymous meeting-”
and so, both Kuroo’s walked and laughed all the way to the girls’ housing, the atmosphere significantly lighter than it had once been.
---------------------------
“What business do you have with our manager, oi?”
“Yamamoto, let Tanaka and Noya say bye.” You scold, highfiving them with both hands before Daichi approaches, Sugawara by his side as the captain of Karasuno hands you a steaming bag of Taiyaki.
“Share with your friends. This is my official apology. We’ll see you soon, Y/N.” The captain smiles warmly before turning to Suga. “Happy now?”
“No, you abuser. Goodbye little kouhai!!”
You wave to Hinata, Yachi, and Yamaguchi from a distance, Tsukishima and Kageyama both simply nodding to you as you shake your phone a little, signalling each of them to text you with the number you gave them with a bright smile.
“Y/N don’t leave without saying bye to your nii-chan!”
“Never, Bo-onii!” You cry overdramatically as Bokuto spins you around, Akaashi setting one hand on your head with a slight nod and a smile tickling his lips. It was honestly crazy how close you got with these people in three days, but who was complaining?
“On the bus. Now.” Kuroo picks you up mid-spin from Bokuto’s grasp as you stick your tongue out, offering your final waves to everyone before Kai simply picks you up by the collar and quite literally drags you onto the bus.
“Oh, did I miss my abusive boys.” You roll your eyes as you’re seated promptly next to Lev, who kindly kept his legs in check to give you enough room on the bus. “Who wants Taiyaki? Daichi-senpai treated us!”
“Is Daichi the one? I called dibs, already!” Lev whines as the pastries are passed around, the bus settling into motion before Kuroo delivers a chop to the first-year’s head, who quickly claims it was a joke before a laugh bubbles up in your throat.
Yeah. Your boys were a bit of a handful.
“Yaku, you can’t have two!”
“It just means Y/N loves me more.”
“I’m her brother, you can’t compete.”
“Shut up, she hates you half the time.”
“No one asked you, Kenma!”
But you wouldn’t have it any other way.

A Little Braver - Chapter 11
Hello everyone. That’s me back from my holidays and I have ch 11 ready for you.
The first part is our two lovebirds still on holiday in Doranelle and they get to be cute and yes, this part as fluff. Enjoy it while it lasts.
For the second part and the ending, just blame the angst gremlin. I decline every responsibility.
It was Sunday and also Aelin’s last day of holiday in Doranelle. She and Rowan had spent their Saturday in the Cambrian Mountains and did a lot of hiking, had a picnic near a waterfall and swam naked in the pool in front of it and also engaged in some other more interesting activities. The day had been perfect and they had managed to survive two full days without fighting and they both were impressed by it.
Now they were in his car and Rowan was driving her to the coast. He had explained that it was the last part left to explore and that one of his colleagues had suggested a lovely place. He had made lunch for both again and they did manage to set off a bit earlier.
Aelin was comfortable in her seat, her feet on the dashboard and he stared at her while her head was turned to look outside.
After their talk he had decided to stop feeling guilty. Aelin had been right and they both deserved a second chance at happiness. He had finally decided to accept what he felt for her and maybe that was why they had not fought for two whole days. They had been both pushing the other away, too scared of caring once again. He still was, if he was truthful to himself. Her job scared the heck out of him. But he was done pushing her away.
“Are you comfortable over there?”
She turned and smiled at him, her blue eyes lit with mirth “are you going all health and safety on me, captain?”
“You are the firefighter, you should know the dangers of such a position in case I hit hard on the brakes.” He explained, stopping a mocking smile from appearing on his lips.
“Well, just don’t slam on those breaks, captain. Can you do that and deliver us safely to the beach?”
His hand gently brushed her naked knee. She was wearing a pair of blue shorts and a colourful top.
“Will the water be warm enough for me to swim in it?”
Rowan nodded. “According to my colleague this is a lovely beach and not too busy either. Something only the locals know about.”
Aelin pulled her sunglasses down on her eyes “wake me up when we are there.”
Fifteen minutes later Rowan poked her arm “Ohi, sleeping beauty. Get up.”
Aelin lifted her sunglasses on her head and glared at him “why can’t you behave like a well mannered man? I don’t know, wake me up with a kiss?”
He got of the car and opened the rear door and unloaded the two backpacks “get your arse out of my car. We are at the beach.”
“So, so rude.” She complained while leaving the car and grabbing her stuff from him. They had warmed up to each other but she still adored their bickering.
He started walking and she ran after him, grabbing his hand in hers.
They arrived at the beach and she rejoiced at the discovery they had the entire place to themselves.
Rowan selected a space not too far from the water and deposited their stuff on the ground, placing also the two beach towels for them.
In an instant Aelin had removed her clothes and was standing in front of him in her bikini.
He stared at her “is that your… bathing suit?”
She posed for him “lovely isn’t it?”
It covered very little, thought Rowan. Two red triangles covered her breasts all tied together by some very flimsy strings and the same for the bottom part.
He grabbed her hand and pushed her down on the towel “sit,” he rummaged in his back pack and took out sunscreen “you have a very fair skin and you will burn.”
Aelin sat down and he took a place behind her. He dropped some cream on her back and started spreading it on her back “you do the front,” he said by passing her the bottle.
“I thought you’d love the honour.”
Rowan sighed “if I do that it might lead to something else which is not appropriate on a beach in the middle of the day.”
Once his hands stopped she reached for the knot behind her neck and untied it, the top of her bikini falling off. She untied the one on her back as well and turned to him “up to the challenge, captain?” She took the bottle and put a dollop of cream on her fingers and started spreading it on her naked breasts and enjoyed staring at his expression morphing into pure lust.
“You’ll be the death of me.” He put more cream on his hands and began massaging her breasts making sure they had a nice cover “given how flimsy your bikini is, you need protection everywhere.”
“So considerate of you…” she teased him arching her back into his touch. She never had enough of him. She had a few men before Sam and no one had ever made her feel like that. Not even Sam.
Once he was done he bent over and recovered the piece of garment “come on, cover up.”
She took the piece of her bikini from him “scared by a pair of magnificent boobs?”
“No, we are in a public place.”
She slowly put the top back on and he offered to tie it for her “let them stare.”
Rowan’s mouth was at her ear again, biting gently her lobe “I don’t share.” and the tone in which he said it made her toes curl.
She then pulled away and ran to the water, jumping in it with happiness. Rowan stood and joined her slowly.
“Come one, it’s stunning.” She shouted emerging from the water.
Rowan smiled then ran and once he reached her he tackled her and carried Aelin like a sack of potatoes and threw her sin the water as soon as they reached a deeper spot.
Aelin re emerged. She tried to protest but she found his body against hers, his lips kissing her hard. She stared at his tanned and muscular body and ran a hand along his chest “I don’t share either, captain. I am very jealous of what is mine.”
Those words were his undoing. He grabbed her legs and pulled them around him and Aelin climbed on him and a moment later they had completely forgotten they were in the middle of the sea.
Luckily for them they had remained the only two people on the beach as their adventure in the water was followed a bit later by one on the sand.
Fully clothed again they now lay side by side. Aelin had her eyes closed, trying to suntan a bit and Rowan on his belly reading a book.
Aelin turned on her side and lifted the cover of his book and noticed it looked like about some theory of flight or tactics “we are on holiday and you are working?”
He turned to her.
“Your book,” she pointed “it’s about flight tactics. Can’t you enjoy a day without thinking about flying?”
“I’d like you to know that I am reading for pleasure. The fact that the book is giving me great ideas is another matter.”
Aelin scooted closer to him and placed her head under his arm and stared at the book with curiosity. She noticed strange drawings “are those flight manoeuvres?”
He nodded and with his arm he pulled her closer “this,” he pointed at the diagram “is called barrel roll attack. It’s quite cool.” Then he pointed at another one “this is the Immelmann and this one…” he turned the page “these are a low and high yo-yo.”
“They have funny names.” She looked at the book “this one seems cool,”
“This is a high G barrel roll.” He explained “you do this when the attacker is at your tail and you can feel his guns on you. It’s far more brutal than a regular barrel roll. Not recommended if you have a sensitive stomach.” He took out his phone and showed her something “Fenrys put a camera on his fighter during training and this is a video taken during training and a mock dogfight.”
Aelin watched the video with amazement “Play it again, it was so fast.” He did it and she stared at the jet completing the manoeuvre “was that you?”
Rowan nodded and showed her a few more videos of their training. She was fascinated.
“I still want to see you fly. For real.”
He put the phone down and looked at her “Lorcan says it’s fine. We can do that when I come back.”
Aelin nodded and he kissed her. He closed the book and pulled her closer and then lay down with his arm over her in a very protective gesture. She turned and snuggled all the way against his torso and let his body protect her from the sun.
It was a few hours later when Rowan woke up and realised they had fallen asleep on the beach. Aelin was tucked in his embrace and was sleeping soundly and he was glad to notice that her body was in the shadow of his body. It would have been a very painful awakening.
“Hey, sleepyhead.”
She opened her eyes and looked up at him and he loved the freckles that had appeared on her face.
“We fell asleep.”
“You really do make a good pillow.” She told him while sitting back up.
“I will make sure to update my resume, I am sure it’s a very sought after skill.” He stood and offered his hand to her “come on, let’s go for a stroll.”
She wore her top again “we don’t want to cause a riot, don’t we?”
Rowan smiled and he pulled her up after he took her hand.
They walked for a while. The beach had turned out to be much longer than they thought. Aelin had kept her shoes in one hand and walked the whole distance with her feet in the water. She hadn’t realised how much she needed a holiday. In the past year her life had been complete dedication to her job. It had helped to keep the demons at bay. But now there was Rowan and hopefully she had found someone with whom to walk the path back toward light.
“Fancy going out for dinner tonight?”
“I am craving seafood.” She said swinging their linked hands “we can stay here. Have dinner and then go back to your flat.”
“Sounds like a great plan.”
It was much later that night when they finally rolled back into Rowan’s flat.
“I am so tired and my face is on fire.”
Rowan cupped he face with his hands “you have freckles and you are stunning.”
Aelin gave him a smile and then ducked “I call dibs on the shower.”
Rowan laughed and let her win.
The shower took her a bit longer than planned. Her thoughts wandered to the fact that she was meant to fly home the next day and sadness struck when she realised she did not want to leave Rowan. They had the four best days so far and she hated that she had to wait two more weeks for him to be back and finally try and work on the foundation of their relationship that they had built during that holiday.
Once back in Rowan’s room she started packing. He had given her her own room but she never used it. They had ended up sharing the room and the bed.
She was busy groaning at packing when she felt his arms fold around her waist from behind. His smell of pine and snow was much stronger and she leaned against his chest, closing her eyes “I really don’t want to go.”
“I’ll be back in two weeks,” he told her against her ear.
“I know,” and she hated how petulant she sounded. She turned in his arms and buried her face in his naked chest. Rowan held her tight, her head tucked under his chin.
“I love when you hold me like this. It makes me feel less alone.”
Rowan squeezed her and they remained like that for a time that it felt endless. He didn’t want her to go either and he had a feeling they were going to be two very long weeks. He was getting used having her in his bed and loved waking up in the morning with her scent around him. He eventually pulled away and sat down on the bed and put on his briefs “come on,” he patted the bed “time to sleep.” She climbed in bed with him and took her usual position nested against him and his arms protectively around her.
Aelin was once again in his car but alas, this time it was not for an adventure. He was driving her back to the airport. Her holiday was officially over and she had been grumpy all morning.
His hand was resting on her knee giving her comfort.
“Are you going back to work tomorrow?”
Aelin shook her head “I need to start tonight. We are on night shift.”
“That sucks.”
In the distance she noticed the shape of Doranelle airport appear and her heart sank.
Rowan parked in the short stay car park and he grabbed her hand and together they walked into the airport. Check-in was a breeze and he eventually walked her just before the security area “this is as far as I can go.” He told her sadly.
Aelin crashed against him and fought it very hard not to cry.
“Hey…” he said very gently caressing her head “I will be back soon.”
She took a deep breath and pulled back.
“Call me when you land. I don’t trust those civilian pilots.” His thumb brushed her lips gently then he leaned over and kissed her.
“These are going to be two very long weeks.” He whispered against her mouth.
“I know.” Then she kissed him one more time and pulled away with all the courage she had. One of them had to let go eventually.
He kissed her one last time and let her hand go and stared at her walk away until she disappeared behind security.
***
It was a few hours later when Aelin landed back in Orynth. She had texted Aedion before boarding and gave him an ETA. While she waited for her bag to arrive on the carousel she phoned Rowan and he answered at the first ring.
“I am pleased to say that my pilot did manage to land us safely back in Terrasen.”
She heard Rowan scoff “It’s not that difficult, he just needs to press a few buttons and use the stick for landing and take off.”
She loved to tease him “he was hot though…”
“Sure, if you fancy men getting paid to fly a big metal trap in a straight line…”
She chuckled “we turned a few times as well.”
“You banked,” he corrected her.
“Uh?”
“An aircraft banks, does not turn. Then we roll, pitch and yaw.”
She huffed “fine, we banked. Happy?”
Her bag arrived and she placed it on her shoulder.
“Was the flight okay?”
She started walking to the exit “yeah, no turbulence this time.” She reached the main doors and walked through “what are you doing?”
“Getting ready to head to class.”
“Are you going to crush those little bastards?”
Rowan laughed “oh yes, I have a very hard exercise in mind.”
She spotted Aedion in the distance and weaved at him “Aedion is here. I gotta go.”
“Be safe, okay?”
“You too, captain. I am getting quite fond of having you around.”
“Bye menace.”
Aedion found her within minutes and hugged her as if he hadn’t seen her in a lifetime.
“Welcome back.” He squeezed her “give me your bags.” He grabbed her stuff and they walked back to his car “how was you holiday?”
“I had a good time.”
“You seem happier.”
“How is the station? Is it still standing?” She changed the subject. She had no intention of talking about her time with Rowan with her cousin.
“It is still standing. We had a few interesting calls, but nothing we could not handle. The team we got from west is blending really well in our team.”
“Good.”
They arrived at the station not long after and once she got off the car Lysandra and Elide ran to her and hugged her fiercely “I was away only for four days.”
“We missed you.” Then Lysandra grabbed her arm and pulled her to the lockers room “get changed and talk.”
Aelin opened her locker and dropped her duffel bag inside it and took out her uniform “So nosey,”
“You have just spent four days with hot captain. Come on girl, we want details,” and both women sat on the bench.
“We had a good time.”
“And?”
“And it was relaxing.”
“And?”
Aelin removed her clothes and remained in her underwear “and that’s it.”
“You are telling me, that you just spent four days living in his flat and you two did nothing?”
“I am not telling you anything.” She wore her trousers, then grabbed her top and finally her blue shirt “things happened but they are between us.”
“Aelin, I have a bet to win.”
“I knew it.” Shouted Aelin, fixing her hair again in a tight braid.
“Well, they had to concentrate on a new target since Aedion and I are off the betting pool.”
Aelin stopped and turned to Lysandra and the woman showed her her fourth finger now carrying a gorgeous ring.
“Holy fuck, he did it. He finally proposed.”
“It was beautiful,” said Elide dreamingly.
“He did it here at the station?”
Lysandra nodded “he waited for me and Elide to come back from a call. He placed loads of candles in a heart shape in front of the rigs and as we drove back in he stopped in front of the ambulance on one knee. And then he proposed.”
Aelin hugged her best friend “this is amazing. So friggin awesome.”
“So nothing happened with hot guy?”
Aelin looked at the clock. She still had twenty minutes before the start of the shift “Fine. Just as an engagement present.” And she took a seat beside the two women “Rowan and I, we… had a great time.” And at her expression, Lysandra squealed and Elide smiled as well.
“Is he good?”
Aelin laughed “he is… very skilled.”
“Holy shit. How many times? Where? Any naughty places?”
Aelin knew this was going to happen. She and Lys had always shared such things “the first time we did it three time. The night I arrived in Doranelle. And we did it in the sea and on an empty beach.”
“Ok, I am really jealous right now.” Asked Lys grabbing her friend’s hands “what does this mean?”
Aelin shrugged “he is away for two more weeks. Once he is back we… will discuss things.”
“Ok, from a scale from 1 to god, how good is he?”
Aelin laughed “definitely god.”
“And is he…?” Lys’ eyebrows lifted in a suggestive manner.
“I am not telling you that.”
“What does he do to be a god?” Asked Elide shyly.
“Make you scream so much the neighbours thinks he is torturing you.” Explained Lysandra deadpanned.
Aelin laughed and grabbed Elide’s hand “don’t worry about all of this.” She said tenderly “how is it going with Lorcan?”
Elide blushed savagely “really well. I… I told him about… me.”
“And?” Asked Aelin curious. She hoped the man had been nice to her. She knew where his office was.
“He has been nice about it. He promised he’ll wait for me and that when I feel ready he will show me everything.”
Aelin chuckled “Good.” Then looked at the clock “girls, let’s go.”
The team was having a relaxing night in front of the tv. Aelin was on the comfy chair her legs draped over the arm, reading a book. Rowan’s manual on flight techniques that he had lent her. After he had shown what he was reading at the beach she had started getting curious and wanted to be able to impress him upon his return. Her phone was in her lap and they had been texting all evening. She was hoping in an easy shift when the dispatch alarm went off. Everyone jumped and she and Aedion took a rig each after the announcement called for two engines and the ambulance.
Aelin ran to her turnout gear and got dressed super quickly and jumped in the engine.
“Did I hear correctly?” She asked Nox who was already at the wheel ready to go “are we going to the airport?”
Nox nodded.
“Those bloody civilian pilots.” She joked but no one got her and she wished Rowan was there, he would have loved it.
They arrived at the airport and Nox stopped the truck. Aelin got off and met the man in the car with red flashing lights “Follow me. We have a collision between two aircrafts. The big one then crashed into the hangar and we have people trapped in there as well.”
Aelin ran back and they followed the car and when they reached the accident site they were not ready for the carnage in front of them. The plane had slammed into the hangar and a raging fire had enveloped a side of the aircraft. Aelin searched for the second plane but could not see it. She jumped off the truck and went back to the man to get an idea of what they were dealing with.
“I thought you said there were two aircrafts.”
The man silently pointed at the remains of a smaller aircraft under the bigger one. There was nothing left and the smaller plane had been reduced to smithereens.
She went back to her team and started shouting orders “Manon, Asterin, try and crack the aircraft door open and see if we can save someone. Wesley, Kyllian you go with Ress and cover Asterin and Manon with water.” She ordered them “Ansel, you are on the aerial and get Manon and Asterin where they need to go.” Then she turned to the rest of her squad “Aedion, take Luca and Brullo and stop the aircraft fire. Remember that the fuel is in the wings.”
“How do you know that?” Asked Nox surprised.
“That is not important now.” She went to their engine and grabbed mask and oxygen tank and tools “Ren, Nox, you two are with me. We are going inside the hangar.” They all geared up very quickly and in the distance she noticed Dorian’s approaching. “Aedion, we might need to call west if it gets worse.”
Aelin and the two guys ran to try and find and entrance to the hangar but the frame of the plane was stuck inside it, blocking any access. “Be careful, there is jet fuel everywhere.” They walked under the wing on fire but they could not see any point of access inside the hangar.
“Can you hear it?” Asked Nox.
“Fuck, there are people still in the hangar.” The nose of the plane had collapsed as the landing gear had failed. Then she noticed it. A small passage near the nose. She removed her oxygen tank from her shoulders, pushed it through the opening and walked to the small hole.
“What are you doing?” Shouted Ren.
“Going in. I am the smallest of the three.” She kneeled and started to wriggle her body through the small opening “open up a bigger passage, we need to find a way to evacuate the civilians.”
Once on the other side, the heat was unbearable and fire and smoke made visibility impossible.
“Fire department, call out.” She shouted to draw attention. A massive explosion rocked the hangar and she threw herself on the ground and rolled quickly on the side managing to avoid a piece of the roof of the hangar collapsing on her.
“Fire department, call out,” she shouted again. Slowly she began walking deeper in the raging inferno in the hope someone was still alive. Everything was collapsing around her. Then she heard it. A voice.
“Fire department, call out.”
She heard the call again and tried to walk to the voice. Then she saw it. A person was on the floor and beside it there was another one. She ran to them.
“Are you okay?” The woman was in shock but alive.
She had a look at the man lying on the ground and searched for a pulse and found none.
“You need to come with me.”
The woman started shaking and Aelin pulled her up on her feet. She had no time.
“Go through there, there are firefighters outside. They will help you. You are safe.”
The woman nodded and kneeled and slowly slithered through the small aperture.
“Ren, there is a woman coming out.” She shouted.
“We can’t open a passage. If we do this side will collapse completely.” Shouted Nox in a panicked voice.
“Go through the other side, go through the nose, but I need a fucking bigger passage.” and she left again not waiting for a reply.
Manon had cracked open the door of the aircraft and she and Asterin had made their way inside. The cabin was full of smoke and fire had started to spread from a gash that had opened where the wing was attached to the fuselage. Manon smelled fuel and knew they had to be quick.
“We are with the fire department. If you can walk we need you to follow us and evacuate the aircraft immediately.”
Asterin walked deeper down the aisle “cover mouth and nose with something.” She noticed a few injured people “Manon, you take those who can walk.”
Manon nodded and directed people out of the main door and once at the aerial she shouted for Luca.
The young man climbed the aerial very swiftly “I am passing you some passengers, make sure they get down safely.”
Luca started ferrying people back and forth leading them to safety to two waiting Lys and Elide.
Asterin heard a few ominous sounds and pushed the people down the aisle, Manon joined her and together with the last two passengers they ran into the cockpit and slammed the door shut when an explosion rocked the plane.
Luca flattened on the aerial and covered the person he was accompanying, with his body.
On the ground Aedion and his two men took sheltered from the explosion and Dorian did the same.
“Evacuate the civilians quickly.” He shouted over the noise.
Lysandra and Elide took all the survivors to the ambulance that had been parked at a safer distance.
“Aedion, I want that fire under control.” Dorian barked again “we are getting close to the collapse point.” then he realised he was missing one person “where’s Aelin?”
“Inside,” and Nox pointing at the hangar.
“Alone?” Shouted Dorian in rage “you let her go inside alone? That is not protocol.”
“She was the only one who could fit through the small gap.” Ren bit back, not caring if he was being disrespectful to his CO. “Nox and I are trying to open a second gap but the fuselage is the only thing holding up the hangar right now.”
Dorian slammed his hat on the ground and tried to call Aelin over the radio but no response came over.
Aelin knew she was lost. She had found two more people beyond saving, but she did not give up. The heat was becoming worse by the minute. She continued walking until she spotted two figures hiding in a corner. They were alive “Fire department,” she shouted. The two people waved at her. One was badly injured “can you walk?”
“I can manage.”
“Lean on me,” offered Aelin to the man. Slowly they crawled back to the nose of the aircraft and as she did with the first person she pointed the exit to them.
She looked at the small screen on her wrist and noticed that her oxygen was running low.
“Shit.” She probably still had fifteen minutes. She could try and save someone else.
Dorian saw the two people come out of the passage and for a moment he hoped a third one would appear as well but Aelin never did. “Where are you?” He whispered to her.
Aedion got the aircraft fire under control, but not yet the hangar and Nox and Ren could finally work on opening a bigger passage for them to go in. They knew it was a race against time. Chances were Aelin’s oxygen was running low and they had to get in and find her quickly.
Aelin’s breathing apparatus beeped signalling her that her juice was up. She had moved even deeper in the hangar and she had lost sight of the nose of the plane, her only landmark to her way out. All around her there was nothing but fire. She threw the air tank on the ground, now exhausted and useless. She removed the mask and the stench of jet fuel hit her. The smoke grew thicker and she began coughing, her lungs burning at every breath. She placed the mask again against her face and walked a bit more searching for more survivors.
Aedion saw it happen in slow motion. He was helping Nox and Ren opening a new passage to the interior of the hangar when the structure folded on itself. The material, now compromised by the crash and the heat had given up like a house of cards in the wind.
“No… no… no…” said Nox frantically, “Aelin is inside. Fuck it, Aelin is still inside.” He shouted.
Aedion turned to him with a dangerous glare in his eyes.
He ran to the engine and went to grab his oxygen tank but Dorian stopped him “you are not going inside.”
Aedion freed himself from the man’s grip “I am going in and I don’t give a fuck. I am not letting her die in there.”
“You can’t go in there.”
“If you love her as much as you claim you will let me go in and save her.” Aedion wore his gear in defiance.
Dorian tried one more time to stop him but Aedion did not listen and slowly crawled through the passage they had managed to open.
Aelin stopped and coughed a bit more. Her lungs and her throat were on fire. She could feel the fumes from the jet fuel starting to have an effect on her. She moved a few steps then she heard it.
A moment later the whole structure collapsed on her. Her mask rolled away from her hand, and Aelin, trapped under the debris, sank into unconsciousness as the fire now surrounded her completely.

hi so @self-absorbed-pretty-boy (💖💖) sent me an AMAZING list of prompts a week ago and while i had truly no time this week to do as much writing as i wanted, here is a 4+1 thing i whipped up between classes that is pure husband fluff— i hope u all enjoy<3
prompt: the first time mickey calls ian his husband in front of a stranger (could be a cashier, a pharmacist, a cop, some weed buying college kids, you decide)
--
The first time that Mickey did it, he didn’t even really realize it— it was a slow Tuesday morning, just after their “honeymoon,” when he woke to the abrasive, slanted sunlight streaming in through the blinds. He immediately noticed that the house was silent, surprisingly quiet from any of the classic Gallagher clamor that usually bounced through the thin walls in the mornings, especially these days with Franny and Liam in their final weeks of the school year—and the absence of noise made Mickey curious enough to rub his eyes and open them, finally pulling himself out from the last warm dregs of sleep.
Ian’s arms were wrapped around him, a comforting spoon bear-hugging him in close, and Mickey took a moment just to take in the sensation of the solid, sleeping weight of him— he could feel the rise and fall of Ian’s ribcage pressed against his back and the soft fabric of the t-shirt that clung to Ian’s chest, the only barrier between him and Ian’s pink, sleep-warmed skin. Mickey rustled in Ian’s arms, reaching for his phone on the bedside table; and no wonder there were no cabinets slamming or lunches being packed or Debbie screaming that they had to get out the door— it was nearly noon for some fucking reason, and he and Ian were still sleeping like babies.
Which, okay, maybe that had to do with the fact that last night involved lots of tugs of hair and searing kisses and bodies pressed together until late into the night— Mickey felt his lips tick upward at the memory of it. But still— ever since returning a few days ago from their honeymoon in the dingy motel with the musty satin sheets, they had both been tired; the last few months had been compounded by a release from prison, a murdered P.O., the engagement shitshow, and a wedding to top it all off, and each incident had pushed a sense of normalcy more and more off-kilter, until finally they both just had to crash.
There was no mistaking that this was harder, more draining, for Ian; he was trying to sink back into a routine existence in the Gallagher house after all of the events of the past few months, and it was clear that he was still reeling from the shift— Mickey could see it now, in the way that Ian was so deeply sleeping well past noon, a dead weight pressed close against him.
Mickey scooted himself up to a seated position on the bed, letting Ian’s arm limply fall off of him and cascade onto the bedsheets with a muted thud—and again, he let himself take a moment to just look at Ian, his mouth parted and breathing steadily, the light coming in through the blinds illuminating the constellations of freckles smattered across his face and cheekbones, threads of sunlight weaving between the strands of bright, rusty hair on the top of his head that were partly splayed onto the pillow. Since getting home Ian had been slicking his hair back less now, and letting it grow wiry and wild and curled—Mickey fucking loved it, and he couldn’t resist reaching a gentle hand out to brush Ian’s hair back from his forehead, feeling its mossy give. He took it all in; the tides of Ian’s even breathing, his fully relaxed face, and the blossoming blue rings of exhaustion that were still there under his eyes, even in his sleep; and Mickey felt a swell of gratefulness that Ian was still sleeping soundly, that he could sleep all fucking day if he needed to, at least for now while they were just getting back and settling into a rhythm—if Ian deserved anything, he deserved to recharge.
Mickey silently sat beside him, absentmindedly scrolling through his phone and every so often running a hand through Ian’s hair—because, fuck it, his husband was sleeping next to him, soft and warm, and something about touching Ian always grounded him. He was leaning propped on a pillow he’d shoved between his back and the wall, and was just beginning to contemplate putting on the tattered robe he’d found in one of the stray bedroom drawers and dragging himself downstairs to make some coffee when he heard a buzz from Ian’s phone on the nightstand, and saw the screen flash with a silent alarm:
“PICK UP MEDS”
So ultimately that was the reason why Mickey forced himself to crawl out of bed that morning— or afternoon was more accurate— and detached himself from the cocoon of his husband’s warmth to go for what was usually Ian’s own Tuesday morning walk every month before his shitty shifts with Paula to go over to the pharmacy and get his meds. He bounded down the front steps of the Gallagher house, turning the corner to walk down a few blocks to where the sagging houses turned to the brick storefronts and neon signs of the few ramshackle businesses that were left on the Southside. Since getting back a few days ago, he and Ian had barely done anything except lounge around the house with everyone, settling in— and now Mickey realized how long it had been since he’d gone for a walk outside, breathing in the not-so-fresh Chicago air that smelled of gas exhaust and cigarette smoke, but also of something earthen and familiar. Sunbeams were radiating off of the sidewalk, and the air was cool, like the late spring weather had finally just broken into something crisp and clear— Mickey let his feet carry him over the pavement past the dingy corner store with the faded sign hanging crooked above the awning, and then two more doors down to the business with the glowing red and white sign that read “SAVE RITE PHARMACY.”
Mickey entered the pharmacy, hearing the tinkle of a bell as he pushed through the glass door.
There was no one really in the store on a Tuesday afternoon— his eyes adjusted to the waves of artificial light bouncing off the white shelves that contrasted with the soft glow outside. Mickey made his way through the aisles to the pharmacy counter at the back of the store, and was met with a middle aged woman in a lab coat typing on a computer.
“Hey. I’m, uh, pickin’ up for Gallagher.” Mickey slid his ID over the linoleum counter, quickly doing a double-take to make sure that this was a real ID and not one of his fake ones; not that it would really matter anyways, no one was getting high off of whatever shit Ian was taking on the daily.
The woman glanced at Mickey’s ID over the rim of her classes, then clicked the mouse a couple of times.
“Gallagher. Just one moment.”
She turned and filed through a few organized-looking bins, and retrieved a crinkly white paper bag and placed it on the countertop. Mickey stood there in silence, listening to the heavy thud of keys typing on the desktop computer.
“And who are you in relation to Mr. Gallagher?”
Mickey opened his mouth—and for just a millisecond, he let himself pause. Usually he just said “partner,” or sometimes “family” when the situation required him to be vague—but in this moment, he had a flashing realization. They were married—and today he got to drop that word, and all the weight of it, into the empty aisles of the drugstore on a Tuesday afternoon. Mickey cleared his throat.
“S’my husband.”
Mickey couldn’t help it—there was some weird, warm, giddy rush in his chest as he said it. It wasn’t natural yet, and he almost fumbled over the word as it fell out of his mouth, like a kid trying to swear for the first time— but he said it. And the pharmacist barely flinched—which, thank fuck for that, after the whole geriatric florist incident a few months ago. She just gave him a curt nod, a half-smile, and she handed Mickey the paper bag and a printed receipt and sent him on his way.
And so what if Mickey stopped at the grimy corner store on the way home and bought a pack of cigarettes for himself and a fucking Kind bar for Ian, because he knew he liked that shit— and so what if there was a little extra bounce in his step as he walked back from the store, his arms swinging by his sides in the cool, early summer breeze as his feet hit the sunwarmed pavement and he headed home to his husband who was curled up in the warm safety of their bed, sound asleep.
His husband.
**
The second time it also just sort of… tumbled out of Mickey’s mouth, a little more naturally this time. It was a day or two later, and he and Ian had finally rejoined the land of the living— and to Debbie, that meant that the two of them were now available to be drafted into a circuit of random chores and errands with lists of shit to pick up, tasks that Ian tried to squeeze in between shifts at his new warehouse job and that Mickey mostly just ignored. But much to Mickey’s dismay, there was no getting out of their assignment this afternoon; Debbie had some hotshot welding gig on the Northside and Frank was nowhere to be fucking found, and Liam needed a parent or guardian to come to his parent-teacher conference at the end of the school year. Liam had softly voiced this information in the swirling hurricane of conversation at dinner the evening before, and Ian couldn’t resist saying that he and Mickey would go, even though Mickey had repeatedly kicked his shins hard under the kitchen table and passed him a series of dagger-like glares. Mickey didn’t realize why Ian had volunteered the both of them to go to this shit— it was Ian’s brother, not his— but after lots of long glances and fucking puppy-dog eyes and some very intense manipulation the night before, when Ian whispered into the crook of Mickey’s neck at a very inconvenient time and said with a mischievous smile “C’mon Mick, I don’t want to go alone”—well, let’s just say that was how Mickey ended up weaving through the sweltering, barren hallways of Liam’s public school on some random muggy summer afternoon with Ian, trying to find Liam’s teacher’s classroom.
As much as Mickey did not want to be here right now, in the paint-chipped locker-lined halls of the public school that mostly just brought up a lot of angsty memories of dirt under his fingernails and cardboard signs written with sharpies and pasted up with duct tape, the whole thing also felt vaguely nostalgic— like those days before everything went to shit and he’d gotten married to Svet, just after he’d busted the fuck out of juvie and was trying with all of his might to force down all the tidal waves of feelings he had about gangly fucking teenage Gallagher with his crew cut and his camo pants—and walking through the halls next to Ian, feeling his tangible presence beside him, was enough to keep Mickey’s mind from veering into other darker places about his own wasted potential.
“Where the fuck is this room, anyways?” Mickey huffed out. All the rows of lockers looked the fucking same, and all Mickey wanted to do right now was go home and lay back on the couch and sip a cold beer, instead of standing in this stuffy hallway with sweat dripping down his neck.
Ian playfully elbowed Mickey between his ribs. “We’re in Liam’s school, Mick. You’re not supposed to say ‘fuck.’”
“Fuck you.” He flipped Ian off for good measure.
Ian halted in front of a closed classroom door, glancing down at the slightly crumpled piece of paper that Liam had written his class number on.
“I think this is it.” Ian softly rapped his knuckles on the classroom door, and a young woman in a pencil skirt appeared to open it.
“Hi, lovely to meet you both. You must be Liam’s dads?”
Mickey spluttered out a laugh, a surprised noise catching in his throat. His first feeling was a flicker of annoyance at this random lady, that always popped up anytime someone so immediately knew he was gay, which probably had to do with some deeply internalized shit— but his second feeling was a warm sort of astonishment. Liam’s dads?
He and Ian could be someone’s fucking parents someday. Fuck.
Ian’s cheeks had turned slightly pink, like he was equally as affected by the assumption— so Mickey spoke up, trying not to sound like his insides were squirming as much as they were.
“Nah, man, you got it all wrong. I mean— not totally wrong, he is my husband. But we’re not his dads.”
Ian’s ears nearly perked up when he heard the word— this was the first time they’d called each other husbands so casually out in the world, while they were both in each other’s presence. A crooked smile crept onto Ian’s face, and he tentatively reached out to ensnare Mickey’s fingers in his.
“Yup. Husbands.”
Liam’s teacher just looked at them, raising her eyebrows expectantly, like she was slightly confused.
“Alright. So, who are you to Liam, then?”
Ian let out a quick breath of a laugh. “Oh, right. I’m Liam’s brother.”
And as Ian led him by the wrist to sit beside him in a fucking uncomfortable plastic chair meant for ten-year-olds, chattering away with Liam’s teacher, all Mickey could think about was the blood rushing hot, hotter than usual between his ears.
He didn’t know if he’d ever get tired of calling Ian his husband.
**
Mickey had never given much thought to pet names, or any sort of frilly bullshit like that, with Ian—every time that he called Ian something that wasn’t just “Ian” or “Gallagher,” it was some punchy and witty nickname that he’d concocted in the moment in an attempt to make a smile burst onto Ian’s face, with “sugar-tits” and “babyface” being his personal all-time favorites; but never any of that sappy bullshit that other couples called each other, like “babe” or “honey” or other garbage.
But, fuck. Fuck if Mickey didn’t love the fact that he could call Ian his “husband” now, that he was allowed to just do that, whenever anyone was in earshot.
It was a late night at the Alibi, the first time that most of the Gallaghers had been out of the house since the pandemic started; the mayor had finally loosened some restrictions, and Kev had sent a text to the Gallagher family group chat with way too many cork-popping emojis telling everyone to come by the Alibi after their respective evening shifts—and when he and Ian had walked through the door nearly half of the neighborhood was there, including Sandy and Debbie, and a bunch of random Southsiders that most of them hadn’t seen for weeks or months.
Kev had immediately handed Mickey a foamy beer as he walked through the door, and readily poured Ian a shot of Jameson—and now the room was pressed tight with bodies, full of random-ass neighbors puffing on cigarettes and some music playing low, the air hanging heavy with the fog of secondhand smoke and boisterous conversation. At one point, after taking one too many sips of something, Sandy had convinced Kev to give her control of the aux cord—and now the music turned more upbeat, and some of the younger people in the room had started dancing, which obviously caused his over-enthusiastic husband to grab Mickey’s wrist from where he was seated at the bar and pull him into the crowd. And maybe it was just the fact that Mickey hadn’t been around so many people for so long, or maybe it was the fact that he could see that Ian was having a good time, his cheeks flushed and glowing in the dim lights— or maybe it was just that he’d had one or two more beers than usual, if he was being totally honest, but Mickey was feeling happy and light, feeling a buzzing in his veins.
And now they were dancing, and Mickey was just kind of shuffling side-to-side and probably looked ridiculous but he didn’t really care, and the room was getting hazier with smoke, and he could feel the heat rushing to his cheeks and the bass of the speakers thrumming in his chest and the rising tide of his pulse and he felt alive, alive—
And Ian’s body was pressed next to his, doing that stupid fucking dance move he always did where he just kind of bopped up and down with his hands raised above his head with the energy of a golden retriever— and Mickey couldn’t fucking help but lean in, pressing his lips close to meet the shell of Ian’s ear; and yes, they’d been married for a couple of months now, but he couldn’t help the airy feeling rising up, bubbling up in his stomach from the heat of the flames licking at his insides that made him whisper:
“We’re fucking husbands.”
Mickey knew Ian could feel his hot breath in his ear, could smell the whiskey on his lips—and Ian’s eyes lit up, his mouth splitting open in a tipsy grin.
Ian hummed and tilted Mickey’s chin up and pressed their lips together— there was light dancing in his eyes, and Mickey loved him, and he was his husband.
“Yeah. Husbands.” Ian murmured the words against Mickey’s mouth under the music, into the air between their lips.
“Fuck.”
And in that moment, Mickey realized that he’d never really known happiness before, not really— because nothing could fucking compare to the feeling of having his hands wrapped tight around his husband’s warm hips, while Ian’s arms were slung over his shoulders and Mickey could burrow his face into the sweet skin at the crook of Ian’s neck…
And yeah, maybe Mickey could get into the idea of calling Ian his husband a lot more often.
**
It was the evening on some run-of-the-mill weeknight after their security runs, and they were at that fancy hotel gym they’d gotten a trial membership of weeks before— Ian had loved the fancy weight machines and the steamed towels so much (and let’s face it, Mickey had also definitely enjoyed the fact that he could check guys out in the steam room) that Mickey had used some cash he had on hand (of questionable origin, which just made Ian frustratedly roll his eyes) to get them both a membership at the place for a month— and Mickey had to be honest, working out under mood lighting and mirrored walls with a bunch of chiseled gay dudes beat hauling kegs around the musty back room of the Alibi any day.
So now, they made a habit of stopping by the gym after work, typically parting ways after stripping off their camo by the lockers to go do their own thing in the weight room. At the current moment, Mickey was standing off to the side of the open floor plan, leaning against a weight rack and curling a 40 pound dumbbell into his bicep— but more accurately what he was doing was drooling over his husband, who was across the room with his tank top sticking to his skin, energetically hitting a static punching bag hanging from the ceiling. Mickey let his eyes bore holes into Ian from across the room, watching the sweat gleam on Ian’s body, watching his muscles ripple—and fuck, he was married to a fucking Greek god, like those fucking sculptures he saw in textbooks at school that made his blood run hot when he stared too hard, wasn’t he?
Mickey was so fixated on watching Ian that he barely noticed when his upper arm started to burn, and he realized that he’d forgotten to keep track of how many times he’d curled upward. Fuck it. Mickey bent down to place the weight back on the rack—and that was when he noticed another guy, some scrawny, slender dude wearing a neon-green tank top and with fucking hot pink sweatbands on his wrists, who had his eyes locked in on Ian from across the room almost intently as Mickey did.
Tank Top noticed Mickey staring at him and sheepishly smiled, putting a hand on his hip—and then in the spirit of light gym-time chatter, something Mickey was definitely not interested in entertaining, the dude opened his mouth.
“You think he’s gay?”
The old Mickey, Mickey from a few years ago, would’ve pummeled this guy’s sorry ass for even looking at Ian the wrong way, and even Mickey from a few months ago would’ve felt some sort of anxious panic or jealous fear that someone other than him desired Ian— but today there was a heavy band of silver pressing into Mickey’s finger, and he could feel the solid weight of it. So Mickey just raised his eyebrows, and gave a passive reply as he placed his dumbbell down and strolled past Tank Top Dude to walk across the room towards Ian:
“He’s my husband, asswipe.”
**
It was late— all there was in the empty room was a half-deflated air mattress, sinking under their weight. The streetlight beamed in through the paper-thin curtains— they would definitely have to invest in a better pair to block out the light, but that was an issue for tomorrow.
Right now Mickey and Ian were just sprawling out on the mattress, letting themselves sink into it—their few boxes of belongings were stacked along the wall, the papers had been signed, and now they could let themselves breathe.
Ian cradled the back of Mickey’s head in his hands, giving him a quick peck just above his eyebrow. “I’m fucking exhausted.”
Mickey breathed out a low chuckle. “Yeah, man, me too.”
Ian rustled, turning onto his side on the wobbly mattress to face Mickey fully. “‘Man?’ You’re my fucking husband. I think we can do better than that.”
Mickey smirked, leaning in close to hover over him. “Whatever you say, husband.”
