REVIEWING THE CHARTS: 08/02/2025 (Lady Gaga, The Weeknd's Hurry Up Tomorrow, Morgan Wallen)

Lola Young sticks to #1 for a third week with “Messy” as we get another exciting week on the UK Singles Chart with several top 10 debuts, a big album release, Welcome back to this “intriguing” series, REVIEWING THE CHARTS!

Rundown

As always, we start the week with our notable drop-outs, songs exiting the UK Top 75 – which is what I cover – after five weeks in the region or a peak in the top 40. This week, we bid adieu to “Bug” and “Favourite” both by Fontaines D.C., “2 hands” by Tate McRae, “HOT TO GO!” by Chappell Roan, “I Had Some Help” by Post Malone featuring Morgan Wallen and, temporarily of course, “Mr. Brightside”.

As for our gains and returns, it’s quite a scattered week, with the GRAMMY Awards ceremony this past weekend definitely leading to some boosts, having the whole week of post-award gains to let them surge higher, though how long that’ll last, I don’t know, and there are other gains not connected to the GRAMMYs. Lady Gaga sees residual streams for “Disease” back at #68, and Chappell Roan’s “Casual” slips back to #62, whilst there are top 40 re-entries for “Guess” by Charli xcx featuring Billie Eilish at #31 and “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar at #27, whilst The Weeknd’s #1 album Hurry Up Tomorrow brings “São Paulo” with Anitta back to #21. Then there are notable gains for songs already charting, those being “No One Noticed” by The Marías at #55, “tv off” by Kendrick Lamar featuring Lefty Gunplay at #46, “Raving in the Studio” by Aitch and Bou sadly at #40, “Beautiful Things” by Benson Boone at #33 with a virally embarrassing GRAMMYs performance, “DENIAL IS A RIVER” by Doechii at #16, “Pink Pony Club” by Chappell Roan at #14 and, again, thanks to the album, “Timeless” by The Weeknd and Playboi Carti at #7. More on Abel and Gaga shortly.

As for our top five, it’s still very standard: “Sailor Song” by Gigi Perez at #5, “The Days” by Chrystal at #4, “That’s So True” by Gracie Abrams at #3, “APT.” by ROSÉ and Bruno Mars at #2, and of course, it’s getting messy at #1 but now it’s time to clean up the mess down below.

New Entries

#74 – “Say My Name” (Remix) – Morgan Seatree featuring Florence + the Machine

Okay, I’ll bite: who the hell is Morgan Seatree? Well, turns out he’s a Manchester DJ signed to Sony, active for a while in the house scene but particularly as a remixer, with this song itself being yet another one of those remixes, a remix of a remix in fact. English indie darlings Florence + the Machine first released the song “Spectrum” on their 2011 album Ceremonials, and though as I repeat on this blog, I’ve never been a big fan of Florence, this one I find pretty undeniable thanks to the detail in the instrumentation: that sharp rise in the intro, the overbearing reverb and echo that drowns the mix, the buzzy glitch in the back of the second verse, it all speaks to an unkillable spirit that is already more danceable than their usual fair thanks to a marching band-turned-disco hybrid groove and what is basically already a diva house vocal from Ms. Welch. The squelching synth in the back of the bridge, where the fluttering harps dip in and out around her vocal, already makes for a great pre-drop build, it’s already prepared for the inevitable Calvin Harris remix that it got in 2012. Said remix is a festival banger with a classic piano house hook that debuted at #1, sitting there for three weeks and becoming the band’s first UK chart-topper, knocking Maroon 5’s “Payphone” off the top and charting well into 2013. Because the chart is in some kind of early 2010s revivalist period currently, Morgan Seatree has come to remix it yet again and… it’s kind of bizarre, in a subtle way.

Seatree has stripped the song of nearly everything except the powerful vocal, which sounds like it’s gone through stem separation despite the co-credit, so he wasn’t given access to a quality vocal here and it hurts the song. He then just implants his old-school Chicago house beat behind it and… it works? It’s got more bounce and originality to it than PAWSA, and the main synth lead is actually sprinkling all over the place like the original harps, it’s just a culture shock to have the pounding drums and maximalist detail completely replaced, with Florence’s vocal chopped up in the post-chorus as well. The power hasn’t left the vocal though, taking on this new feeling of being trapped under the dancefloor and rising out of the ground triumphantly, the victory lap of the military regiment the original empowered. It may not be an original idea to remix this song into a house track, but it’s a surprisingly original take that doesn’t modify the structure too heavily from Harris’ version yet does enough to separate and recontextualise itself, remaining pretty powerful. I didn’t expect to enjoy an up-and-coming DJ’s remix of an already popular song, that’s often a recipe for laziness, but I do think this is pretty great execution.

#67 – “I Don’t Want to Live Like This” – James Marriott

Produced by James Marriott, Aleksi Kiiskinen, Jono Suter and Eeli Savolainen

Unlike the other non-KSI YouTubers that end up on this show, I actually know who this is prior to encountering them here and cannot act like I’m above them and their chosen career like I always do. To be fair, I know little about English influencer Mr. James Marriott apart from his association with a guy called “Memeulous”, so my hopes weren’t exactly high for his musical output. I was right to lower them as well because this is smug indie landfill garbage in the same vein as fellow English YouTuber Wilbur Soot and his band Lovejoy, though they’re much more adventurous than this, with a monotonous guitar pluck, a seriously limited vocal performance that comes off more as drunken karaoke than anything and a layer of basic, unbefitting synth that does not clear this from being an absolute droll. The vocal melodies are uninspired and sound comical from Marriott, who leaves so much empty space that extra piano flutters or aborted guitar solos have to fill up space and don’t do very well given how flatly the song is produced. The song is about audience expectations and not living up to them, which can work – we’ll see it working later today – but wrapped up in faux-poetic analogy that runs well out of steam by the second verse and just sounds so disconnected. It also can’t hit that powerful of a note when said audience is a couple hundred-thousand kids on YouTube but that’s far from the song’s fault. What the song is at fault for is frankly being basic and awkward – I was surprised that this isn’t his very first song because that’s how it appears. Regardless, I hope his musical side gig takes him somewhere or at least improves, but this first chart hit is definitely not impressive.

#64 – “Love Hangover” – JENNIE featuring Dominic Fike

The BLACKPINK girls are all making separate moves as solo acts – it’ll be interesting to hear who Jisoo teams up with, as ROSÉ’s with Bruno, LISA has a duet with RAYE and Doja Cat coming for next week’s chart and JENNIE has decided to collaborate with someone so unbelievably worse that it’s ridiculous, Mr. Dominic Fike. Friends don’t always have the same high standards, even if you tour the world as a girl group together. Anyway, with surprisingly no relation to the Diana Ross classic of the same name – you know how sample nostalgia bait gets – this song goes for a moodier, alt-pop vibe fully in Fike’s territory. There’s a faux-organic soul backing, scattered pitch-shifted backing vocals and a sing-rap flow that sounds really awkwardly staccato, borderline off-beat with JENNIE’s overly manufactured vocal. The toxic relationship content is fine, but the chorus isn’t impressive and the one part I do really like, that laidback electric guitar lick, is suppressed so far back into the mix. Fike goes for a rap verse for… some reason, and he sounds so clumsy that I’m almost embarrassed for him. I suppose that the floaty, comical nature of JENNIE’s approach to the relationship is interesting, especially in the malformed outro that glitches her vocal and leads up to a resounding nothing, but the production is too stiff, as is JENNIE as a vocalist, to account for that. If it reminds me of anything, it’s that last BROCKHAMPTON album where everyone was checked out and wanted to leave. What a great comparison point when you’re still proving yourself as a solo artist.

#44 – “I’m the Problem” – Morgan Wallen

Interestingly, this is the only track this week where the lead artist isn’t credited as a co-producer, instead with Wallen’s common collaborators Mr. Moi and Mr. Handsome (to be confirmed) on the boards. To make a joke at this song’s expense is pretty cheap, falling into Morgan Wallen’s trap if anything. It won’t stop me, of course, and many others, but the idea that he’s now self-aware of his life’s issues feels quite reductive of his work up until now which has been very commonly and sometimes overly honest and self-deprecating. Sure, he complains about women all the time, but Morgan’s alcoholism and recklessness isn’t news to him, and this song isn’t even an instalment in that. It’s actually a bit of rage-bait as the song probably should have been called “If I’m the Problem”, as he whines incessantly about this vindictive woman but does cut to some remarkably deep cuts: “you hate that when you look at me, you halfway see yourself”. Wallen’s vocal feels more stable and driven than it has recently, even if his vocal production hits some weird notes, it’s not the best recording, and there is an attempt at making it sound like a dustier revenge song with all the reverb, western sound effects and fast acoustic guitar picking fit for a cowboy entering a saloon… but that still doesn’t make the airy R&B percussion fit the mix, it’s like Boi-1da showed up at the saloon uninvited. The song’s also ultimately just a heated, pissy vague-post about some ex, and without something that really resonates sonically or really, lyrically, it’s easier to ignore than it should be. Kind of an easy skip, this one, which is a shame after “Smile” was so enjoyable.

#8 – “Cry for Me” – The Weeknd

Produced by The Weeknd, Metro Boomin and MIKE DEAN

I may need to issue a formal apology to Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye. The singles for this extended, messy album rollout were, and still are, pretty rough and derivative, so much so that I’d assumed that he was kind of out of ideas, that it would be a sad and pathetic end to the trilogy, that he’d lost the passion. This feature-length album of cinematic, immersive production, layers of actually effective MIKE DEAN synth ejaculate, delicate soul samples and a great theatrical theme that carries into the song titles, audience sounds, interludes and the features coming in and out to play their roles… yeah, it shut me up, it’s brilliant, it debuted at #1 because of course it did, and I’ve yet to even begin unpacking it because, well, come on, it’s an hour and a half. It’s not a perfect album, it still has that hunk of trash “Timeless” on it, but there are only small cracks in an otherwise solidly put-together album. As for my favourites, it’s most of the tracklist but “Baptized in Fear”, “Enjoy the Show” with Future, “Niagara Falls” and “Drive” come to mind, alongside this very song.

With the enlisting of close collaborators like Metro and MIKE DEAN, who seems particularly proud of this record over on X, “Cry for Me” follows the extended Justice-assisted intro track and focuses like many of his pop hits on a failed relationship. Here, that desperate plea for reciprocated feelings and lamenting their distance doubles as his back-and-forth with his audience, particularly in reference to him losing his voice at a concert, disappointing the crowd that came to see him – “the crowd’ll scream / I block my ears to stop the cheers ‘cause the stage took a toll”, and the potently helpless lyric, “I can’t see myself and I’m not breathing”. Abel is using theatrical and performance analogies throughout the album and given this may be his final record, his anxieties about the stage cut with more melodramatic stakes than ever, especially with the track buzzing immediately with the inhuman growls and pitch-shifted soundbites that follow from where the intro track’s build-up started. Those high-pitch backing vocals are both a reminder of the audience and really, his inner child, the naivety that he’s lost over time, replaced with a thumping, Brazilian funk-adjacent percussive stomp. Abel always sounds great, this chorus is one of his catchiest, and you can easily tell when Metro came into the fold because of the cathartic trap breakdown in the second chorus, leading into a bridge wherein Abel can’t continue deflecting his pain onto others, he’s able to admit that it’s him “burning up [his] home” – the usual release of the signature “ooh, yeah!” hits a deflated note after a pitched-down final chorus. As an individual song, it’s a layered synthy jam, and as part of the album, it’s the ultimate tone-setter, plotting out the narrative for the rest of the record. It may seem like a long listen especially in the rockier early stages, but it’s worth diving in.

#6 – “Abracadabra” – Lady Gaga

To have the highest debut after only three or so days of tracking is impressive – once again, I may need to apologise here because I had thought that Gaga’s solo work would mostly continue to have disappointing returns but turns out she just needed the right song and video to deliver a smash again. And this is a smash hit, not just statistically, it sounds like one. Of course, our story actually starts in 1981, with goth rockers Siouxsie and the Banshees and their song “Spellbound”, a witchified rollick that peaked at #22, whilst Michael Jackson’s “One Day in Your Life” was #1. Gaga’s taken melodic hints of that song to add a darker, theatrical bombast to what is already pretty explosive. Reminiscent of ARTPOP, ugly industrial-adjacent bass synths seem to immediately halt the song’s momentum into a warped, staggered rhythm, before being replaced by 90s house pianos and choppy drum fills that end with a stark, haunted vocal clip, as Gaga delivers a surprisingly motivational set of lyrics aiming to burn bridges and start anew. In what appears initially as a nod to her nonsense, name-dropping hooks from, say, “Bad Romance”, the chorus actually features her casting spells in Latin over a great buzzy synth bass that creeps around the bottom of the track like a frog being added to the pot, boiling into the potion that is that awkward post-chorus, Gaga stretching the words to a whimsical, almost bratty melody that echoes a cheerleader chant as much as it does her last words before the room collapses with her in it. I’d prefer if the song had a more developed bridge than just a euphoric high-register vocal, in fact, the entire final moments feel quite abrupt with the chopped-off final chorus and late entry for some strings that crowd the mix, but overall, this is still a great song, an immediate anthem that Gaga just has not had in this vein for a while. Whatever comes out of that next album, Mayhem, I’m definitely more intrigued than I was with only “Disease” and “Die with a Smile” preceding it. Now I just want to know what branches these sounds together.

Conclusion

It was a real mixed bag this week but far from an uninteresting or frustrating one. In fact, there’s a lot of great stuff and The Weeknd just barely hits that Best of the Week with “Cry for Me”, with a tied Honourable Mention to Lady Gaga for “Abracadabra” and Morgan Seatree’s remix of Florence + the Machine on “Say My Name”. It’s also a pretty close run to the bottom, but what separates the two is that JENNIE and Fike are allegedly professionals, and “Love Hangover” is straight-up depressingly bad, so that takes the Worst of the Week, with James Marriott taking a pity Dishonourable Mention for “I Don’t Want to Live Like This Anymore”. As for what’s on the horizon, we’ll see the aforementioned LISA track for sure, and potentially Mr. Tommy Richman, Caity Baser, Alex Warren, Sonny Fodera or even that Elton John/Brandi Carlisle collab. For now, however, thank you for reading, rest in peace to Irv Gotti, pioneer of the “Murder Remix” that were actually completely different songs entirely, and I’ll see you next week!

APT - ROSÉ & Bruno Mars (Review)

Reviewed on October 19th, 2024

The BlackPink members doing solo work in general has been hit or miss for me and by hit or miss I mean either absolutely hitting it out of the park or making me confused as to who on the PR team approved it. I figured APT would fall into the latter given it was a collaboration with a non kpop artist because these types of songs have a tendency to be stale and pandering. But I was surprisingly proven wrong

APT - ROSÉ & Bruno Mars

This song really exceeded what I expected of it based on, well, everything about it. No one really wakes up one day and says “I want Rosé from BlackPink and Bruno Mars to make a song together”, but it’s not necessarily bad when you put it into fruition. The song style fits both of them as artists in a way that I can’t put into words. The aesthetics of the music video also can’t go without a mention here because it’s so well put together in every sense of the word.

Hello~!

Well, I guess this is my intro post to the world of studyblr! My name is Anni, she/her, and I recently turned 18. I am currently in my last 3-4 weeks (holy shit...I did not realize it was that soon o.O) of grade 12 (last year of high school) in Manitoba, Canada. I'm a French immersion student! I love math and music, and to some degree, chemistry (it's complicated :p). My current courses are:

• band 40s

• advanced math 45s

• chem40s

• EngLit40s

• physed40s

Plus jazz choir and GSA as extracurriculars. Our provincial English exam started *literally* today and goes til the 31st, math exam and band concert are *both* on June 5, and my chem exam isn't until June 18 lol c: I'm currently behind as hell on my English work and chem stuff. But I wanna work through it and finish the year off strong, if not for anything but scholarship money!

Next year I am registered for a bachelor of science with a major in chemistry. I hope to minor in math, I think. I've picked out my courses but I'm not registered yet, so I won't say what they are right now. c:

Another thing that's *very* important to kmow about me, especially in this context, is that I have ADD (attention deficit disorder - blanket term is ADHD w/ the H standing for "hyperactive" - but i am not hyperactive c: ). Because of this, I have struggled with handing in work on time and studying my whooooole life, including like, elementary school. I've been dancing around different medications for like four years now and still haven't quite found the right match for me. Bottom line, getting the marks I want is very difficult when I don't do the work - something I rly want fixed for university next year. I will almost *definitely* post an ADD rant here and there on this blog, because school is a large part of my life, and it....fucks with it pretty bad. Sometimes you just gotta rant yo (I will be tagging these and other similar posts with "anni rants" if you don't wanna read stuff like that, it's all good c: ). Also, because of ADD, messages, asks, and group chats are...kind of incredibly distracting. This isn't to say don't contact me!!! Just, please don't feel bad if I take forever to answer, and maybe don't spam? I guess? It's just, if I'm really hyperfocusing on studying (for once in my damn life lmao) and I have, say, a group chat going off every ten seconds, it pulls me out of my zone and it's damn hard to get back in. Actually frankly if that happens anytime it pulls me away from my current train of thought and I've lost whatever task it is I'm working on. I know I can't expect everyone to cater to my needs, that's ridiculous - I need to figure out how best to deal with it. All I ask is that, since I have so little *time* to figure all that shit out, please be respectful and patient. 'Specially if I get grumpy. It's just super duper frustrating - but guaranteed I'll probably apologise for it soon after idk. It's complicated and weird and there's not a lot of resources to help with it, I guess. I really don't mean to be rude - in most cases, it'll probably jsut take me awhile to answer any messages (between like a day to......a week or more XD)! Please don't take this as a roadblock to becoming friends or smthn c:

So, with that in mind, here's a concise list of my goals for this blog!

• kick my last three weeks of gr12's ass

• start to develop a study habit for university (through studying for my gr12 math&chem exams)

• learn to enjoy studying (...i am not sure this is fully possible)

• discover the best methods/workspace/study schedule that works with MY brain

• slowly organize my health&fitness life (I know it's not studying, but it still counts as Like, getting my life together)

• maybe?? start incorporating learning goals (such as continuing my fsdhdjing Italian studies) that don't have to do w school???

• develop the self restraint to get off games/social media/etc when I really should be working (if you think it's hard now, try doing it when ur brain chemicals want nothing to do w starting things......)

I think that's it! Big shout out to @subitoscience for giving me a bit of an intro post outline lol c: I can't make an about rn because I a) don't know how and b) blog primarily on mobile, but if you send me an ask I will try my darndest to answer it. Roommates, Season 3, Pilot.

A/N This will show like an episode you watch on TV, examples like; Tros, LOTJ, 2D1N, Running man etc. Inspired by @/nitaescence (i love her works omg).

And since I miss Roommates I’ve decided to make a fictional season three of the show with all of my favorite artist.

You giggled at your self as you look around your dorm picking and dropping things you want to bring along to the house you'll be staying at for six months or more.

*still struggling what to bring*

"What do I bring?" You asked your self loudly letting the microphone that was hanging on your clothes catch the sound. You hummed to your self as you go to the nearest camera that was stuck on the wall. The one that was filming you down. "Guess what? I don't know what to bring."

*Oh oh..* (unison of oh)

You spoke to the camera before walking away from it to think things through. A female appeared from the kitchen as she munch on a sandwich you've made earlier for yourself, but now is in the hand of your group member.

"You're still not done packing?" She asked and you nodded your head as she comes over to you and open up your luggage and started throwing things inside, such as her pictures because she said you'll miss her.

*Transition; Introduction of Y/n.

[In front of Y/n, with black backdrop]

"Hey everyone!" You introduced as soon as the person behind the camera signaled you to start speaking. "I'm Y/n, from the rookie group AMATEUR.”

*Transition; Introduction of Y/n group and performance.

"So why did you join this show?" The same female interviewer asked as you sit in front of the camera quite shy to be alone.

"I've lived in Korea for four years now, and not once I've lived outside of the company's provided shelter, lived with my group too ever since. So I wanna see how it feels like moving in with new set of people." You said independently as you smile sincerely.

[Camera men holding up camera as they follow Y/n]

"Are you really sure about moving there?" Your member asked as she drops your luggage she was carrying on the ground. A giggle came out of your mouth as you looked at her pouting face.

"It's not like I won't come back in here," you joked. "Plus- You're going to have the room all by your self so I don't know why you're complaining."

(Sound track; Laughs.)

"Oh you're right!" She exclaimed and grabbed the luggage she had just dropped. Opening the trunk immediately and putting it in. Pushing you towards the door, opening it for you. Waving. "Bye bye sister."

"Do you know what types of people you'll be living with?" She asked you, your face turned into a frown and shook your head.

"Nope, but I hope they'll be cool people?" You answered. Unaware of who the people are gonna be there. Well signing up to live with a bunch of strangers doesn't sound bad right? Right?

Wall camera following a man’s movement, camera transitioning to a new room.

*Who is it?*

"Ah hyung!" A whiny boy's voice echoed the door.

Transition to Taehyung’s Introduction

< Dorm’s Living room. >

as he walk over the living room where two boys focus on the screen with controllers on their hands too busy playing Mario Kart for the hundredth time since they've got home from tour. The camera that surrounds the place following Taehyung's every move.

(Screams)

Frozen frame of Jungkook and SeokJin

*so handsome!*

"What?" An uninterested Jin asked as he continue on pressing the speed button again and again to speed up the car's speed so he can win against Jungkook after losing during the previous game.

"Take care of Yeontan for me pleaseee-" He begged dragging the word as he look at the oldest member of his group. Having no response he moved over to the huge screen and blocked it with his body in hopes of gaining the older one's attention.

(laughs)

"Ah Hyung!" Jungkook whined as he tries to move his head to the side to see the screen better. Great. Two kids are whining.

*Interview; Kim Taehyung

"So why did you joined the show?" The male interviewer asked as he signaled Taehyung who sits awkwardly alone in his seat. Not used of not having the other six people to be with him.

"I think its because I've been stuck with the same people for years and I think it'll be healthy for me to be away from them for a while." He giggled making the female crews look at him in admiration. While Taehyung recall the time he memorized the members snores after being roommates with them from time to time.

< outside of dorm >

[Camera man holding up camera as they follow Taehyung.]

"Go." Seokjin said at Kim Taehyung as he pouted at him. The camera man behind him filmed the two as they bid their farewell to one another. Taehyung went to the older one to hug him, trying to be cute and all.

*Cuteeeee* (a chorus of ‘aw’)

"Please leave." Seokjin sternly said before cracking a smile after trying to push the kid.

(laughs)

Hugging the kid as well, knowing to himself that he's gonna miss the younger kid.

"Hey y'all!" A bright voice cheered as he sits on the chair. The common black background behind him.

"It's me." He said before turning his head 180 degree, turning his attention back to the camera "Lucas."

(screams)

*NCT LUCAS!*

*Flashes Lucas performance with NCT and WAYV

*Wow So handsome!*

Winking to the camera. "Wait it's not recording yet!" The interviewer jokingly said making Lucas flush red as the people around him laugh at their small prank.

< Nct Dorm >

[Wall camera facing two close faces.]

"Oh Nana!" He cheered before giving the kid a man handshake. "This is Nana."

He said before the shy kid giggles before waving to the camera. "Isn't he handsome? My lil' bro!"

(laughs)

*yes he is*

"Easy~" Bambam walked over to the chair and sat down. Bowing first as a respect on the staff. Before starting the interview.

(Laughs)

Transition; Got7′s dorm

< Bam’s room >

"You realize you wont actually need all of those things?" Jackson said as he leans on the door watching Bambam take out everything to pack up.

"You've been there. I saw your clothing. It was the same thing over and over again." Bambam snapped before smiling at the guy leaning in the door. Jackson looked at him rolling his eyes. "And heck I wont do the same."

"I honestly hope you get the worst room." Jackson said.

*We’ll see that..*

*Transition; Interview Lee Dong Wook

"Yes. I'm back." The same familiar looking man said as he bows at the camera. Sighing as he rubbed the palm of his hands on his black jeans. "I don't know how. I don't know what I'm getting from this show but I'm willing to take a risk once again."

*he’s back again!*

*We Missed you Mr Lee*

"Dongwook-ssi, Do you know that you're the oldest one in the house?" Asked the interviewer making the grown up man's eyes widen at the news.

"W-what?"

(laughs)

*Its okay Mr Lee!* *We’re sure it wont be that bad*

Dongwook face palming himself as he sits behind the table looking at something.

*Transition; Interview Rosé

"Hiya! I'm Rosé from Black pink!" The female red haired girl greeted shyly bowing to the camera.

*Clip; Performing abroad with members.

"Unnie- do you really have to go?" Whined Lisa as she stops the car door from closing as she looks at Rosé once again.

*Oh Lisa is Sad.*

"It's not gonna be that long?" Rosé chuckled on Lisa's reaction.

*It’s okay! It wont be that long!*

"Unnie~" Lisa whined once again as she looked at the red haired girl inside the car.

(Awe)

"Do you want to drop me off?"

*Transition; Interview Boo Seungkwan

"Honestly, with that much members do you think I can't handle more people in my life?" Seungkwan said towards the interviewer. Shaking his head on the thought.

*Oh He’s confident*

*Clip of future event.

“Guys wait! GUYS! GUYSSSSS!” Seungkwan screamed trying to get everyone’s attention as he stands outside the house.

*oh no* *what happened?*

< Roommates House >

*Everyone’s home for the next months*

[Wall Camera filming the door.]

"Oh- I'm the first one to arrive." Seungkwan shyly announced as he enters the empty house filled with Cameras.

"Woah-" as he left his luggage near the door as he enters the house. The excitement can already be seen as the camera follows him around. The sound of a dog barking echoed the room making Seungkwan jump on his place as a white Pomeranian dog run towards him.

Seungkwan looked at it in awe after catching his breath once he realize the situation. He looked at the dog before checking the tag that was hanging on his collar.

"Hello my name is Bol, your little company." Seungkwan read out loud the words written in the white paper, "So You're little Bol?" Seungkwan cooed.

*Clip of future event;

Bol resting on everyone’s lap.

“That’s bad! Bol has a favorite!”

*Transition; Interview Kim Yeri

"Honestly all I wish is not to be the youngest one." Yeri said as she shook her head on the thought. "I wanna try playing around with someone younger too you know?"

*oh we all do*

< Outside of RV Dorm>

"Bye my little child." Irene said as she hugs the youngest of the group. "Please take care of your self and know that everything will be seen in camera."

*Irene is gonna miss little Yeri*

"Yes grandmother."

(Laughs)

*Grandmother?*

*Transition; Interview Bang Chan

"I heard that Bambam-sunbaenim will be there. So I think I'll be fine." Said Chan as he smiled unsurely to the camera. Just praying for Jesus to take the wheel.

< Studio >

*He’s live and talking to his fans*

*How sweet~*

"So.. as you know, I'll be joining the show Roommates and I really hope you guys support this show and I don't know if I'm gonna do more of these one on one Vlive for the next months. But maybe, the other cast would like to join if from time to time. I'll do it."

*We’ll look forward for that~~*

[camera films Chan’ talking to a camera]

He giggles at the excitement and the thought of having new people to do the talks and things with in camera.

*Transition; Interview Shin Yeeun.

"I'm Actress Shin Yeeun. Hello everybody!" The female smiled shyly at the camera as she waves with both hands.

[Films entrance door.]

Yeeun entered the house with a bear the same size of her upper body. Hugging it tightly as she entered the place. The luggage rolls behind her as her manager helps her out.

*another member in the house!*

"Wah~ it's the same as in the show." She looked at the place. Amazed. She looked at the stairs and quickly climbed the stairs to go check the seconds floor.

Knowing what she had seen in the show. She quickly moved over to the room with three bed claiming one as hers. Dropping her bag on one of the bed.

A sound of pans dropping echoed the quiet house making Yeeun's eyes grow big. Frightened.

The camera catching her reaction clearly as she looks at her manager.

(Scary sound)

(Oooh)

*What was it?*

She quickly ran down the stairs to see what had happened to see no one. Until a body frame appeared from behind the kitchen counter.

Boo Seungkwan.

*Seungkwan has dropped the pans!*

"AHH!" Both her's and Seungkwan's scream echoed the empty ground floor as they look at each other. In shock.

(Laughs)

*Oh no*

"Ah- Hello." The female shyly spoke as the screams quiet down. Leaving the sound director of the show, deaf.

"I wasn't scared at all! It's just.. It's just, suddenly a person appeared?" Seungkwan said worriedly to the camera as the interviewer brought up the scene that had just happened. Laughing at his reaction.

(laughs)

*Yeah sure.. you weren’t*

[Camera men holding up camera as they follow Lucas]

"Ah hyung can you help me take this?" Lucas said as his group's manager came up to him to help out take out a long material.

*what was it?*

A life size cut out of him was pulled out of the van.

*!!!*

*What a shocker!*

"Do you really need this?" His manager asked in confusion. Lucas nodded diligently at the question.

(laughs)

Another car appeared on the scene as Lucas was taking out his things from the car. A female came out of the car.

(Oooh~)

You came out of the car with glittery make up still on, matching your group's comeback theme. Except your outfit was just a plain white shirt and a simple ripped jeans.

*look who just got back from work*

"Oh- Pretty woman." Lucas dropped his luggage to the cemented road as he came towards you to help you out.

*What a gentleman*

(claps)

You walked to the car's trunk to take out your luggage as your manager turn off the car.

Lucas wiped the sweat on his hands on his jeans before walking towards you the camera man was following his every move.

*he’s preparing*

Clearing his throat, he quickly offered his hand out for a handshake to the familiar girl.

"Hi ma'am I'm Lucas." Lucas' cheeks flushed a tint of red as he realized that he had just called you 'ma'am' randomly and out of nowhere.

*what is this? Romeo and Juliet?*

"Well hello sir." You played along to the reddening Lucas as you shake his hands in the air.

"Would you like some help?" Lucas asked as he motioned the opened trunk, pulling out a grey luggage out.

"Oh shut it Yukhei. Stop playing nice just take it." You laughed at Lucas which laughed as well as he pulls out the luggage with you helping out by pulling out using the side handle.

*Huh!?*

*Transition; Interview Y/n

"We're in the same company." You answered the question that the interviewer had thrown you to clear out the confusion the viewers might get. "We hang out a lot because we used to train together. We basically don't really treat each other nicely."

*Transition; Interview Lucas.

"Y/n is a bully." Was all Lucas could let out. Your ears hearing his words clearly and with no doubt. He really just said that in national television.

"Yah!" Your scream was heard in the interview Lucas was having, and the editors and directors didn't even bother to cut that scene out.

(Laughs)

<Roommate’s entrance door>

You two pressed the door bell and the two people who are still busy admiring the place looked at one another before coming to the intercom. The intercom’s camera catches the two of your faces and Seungkwan's jaw dropped.

*Transition; Interview Seungkwan.

"I knew him! He's from NCT." Seungkwan said, "Another runaway from too many members!" Seungkwan said as he pointed both his index finger to the camera chuckling as he winks with his left eye.

(laughs)

*Nct has 21 members while Seventeen has 13*

*That’s a lot*

*Transition; Interview Yeeun.

"I was petrified! Am I the only actress in this show? Is it full of singers?" A shocked Yeeun said to the camera as she looked at the interviewer.

*Cheer up Yeeun, you’re gonna be alright.*

"But heck, Lucas is a hella good looking man."

*We do not disagree*

"So okay.. You have an NCT member and a Seventeen member." You started talking about Seungkwan and Lucas. "Do you know how chaotic it'll be if both group decides to VISIT US?! THAT’S GONNA BE A TOTAL CATASTROPHE!"

"This is literally unnecessary." You looked at him in disgust as you carry his life size cut out to the door. Of course Lucas would have a life cut of himself.

"Your comment is unnecessary thank you very much."

The two of you entered the familiar place you've seen in your television and walked in the house. Making sure to remove your shoes and wear a house slipper you bought specially for the house.

"Is that a dinosaur slippers?" You looked down at his feet to see its covered in a green dinosaur in door slippers.

*That’s a cute choice!*

"I didn't say anything about your panda slipper so you can stay quiet." The door opened and two shy people greeted the two of you.

[Entrance door camera]

You and Lucas' faces softened to the unfamiliar air in the air. The feeling of being around new people you've never met or just have seen passing by you was different.

*Yes trapping random people in one house isn't that bad.*

"I got so shy, because I feel like I'm crashing into someone else's home. I should've come early!" You exclaimed, looking to the camera.

a couple of minutes later, Taehyung opened the door to find four people sitting on the couch quietly. After having small conversations with each other such as exchanging names and basic information such as ages.

Four heads turn their heads towards the door and their eyes grew on the sight of the person.

*!!!*

[Angle one; catching the reaction.]

Quickly standing up, the four of you bowed your head on the senior that had just entered in.

[Angle two; catching the reaction.]

*!!!*

Taehyung freezing at the point. Not knowing what to do. Taehyung started bowing as well. The four kids who stood up still not knowing what to do, bowed once again as the senior at the door bow at them. With them bowing again, making Taehyung bow again, and again, and again.

*its a never ending*

(laughs)

*Transition; Interview Taehyung.

"It was pretty stupid." Taehyung laughed as the scenario repeated in his head. Cracking a smile on the reaction everyone has given during the first meeting. "But I can relate because I used to be the same."

*Transition; Interview Lucas.

"It was Kim Taehyung!" Lucas exclaimed, "He's a senior!"

A bow after a bow was what happened to the five of them. Until Taehyung knew enough was enough to the five of them.

"Stop stop stop!" Taehyung laughed at the scenario that seems to fit a sitcom rather than a reality show. The four of them stopped what they were doing. Standing awkwardly in their place. Not knowing what to do.

"Do you guys.. perhaps want some food?" Yeeun asked trying to break the silence that was growing in the place. Even the people behind cameras can feel the awkward tension in the air.

"Can I check out the rooms?" Taehyung asked and Lucas' eyes lit up to Taehyung's reaction.

"You want to check it too? I haven't seen any of them." Lucas said. Not really familiar of the place as he has not seen the show as it is. Only clips such as Jackson and Youngji bickering around the place from the previous season. Which he knows it'll be you and him in this season.

"So what are you making?" You asked Yeeun who opened the fridge. Your jaw dropped open at the sight of the fridge being full and everything you will need to feed eleven people. The same reaction Seungkwan had during his first tour in the house alone.

"This never happen in the dorm?" You said as you move closer to the full fridge with different varieties of food available. Yeeun looked at you and to Seungkwan who laughed at the confused as he leaned on the kitchen island.

"I have twelve members once the fridge is full its gone by midnight." Seungkwan said as the two look at him in amusement.

The first five people seem to be getting alone in their first hour together.

richelle o’conner was born and raised in aviano, italy ( at a u.s. military base ), until the age of 9; she and her siblings were military brats. dad was in the air force while mom was an awarded architect. growing up in italy was different to say the least. she stood out because of her red hair. wasn’t bullied. settled in a lot quicker than her siblings. while attending school, she was both in english & italian classes, and is fluent as hell.

considering the fact that aviano is a small town in italy, there was no doubt that ricki was going to miss it. it was upsetting that she was going to leave her friends behind, ones that she was truly going to miss ( teachers included ). sadly, they didn’t keep in touch.

ricki’s four grandparents would do the best they could to help when they moved back to boston — where the o’conners are originally from. either they would stay with them for weeks, dropping them off at school and/or picking them up afterward, life at home was decent. she will often comment that she was raised by her grandparents.

mom’s job required her to travel; an architect that worked with a company that had clients from all over. however, whenever she was home, she dedicated 100% of her time with her three children. dad would be deployed for months, even years, on end. would rarely see one another, but whenever he came home... they were all relieved !

richelle did NOT go to some fancy ivy league college, decided to be a student at bunker hill community college. wasn’t too far from home, a walking distance. one helluva student. miraculously passed her classes. a bit of a daredevil.

KIDS, WORK, HUSBAND — and in that order specifically. she might become the mother of dragons when it comes to her kids. giving birth to three kiddos means: she protec, she attac, but most importantly... you don’t wanna come across her dark side. she’ll go above and beyond for them. husband included.

ALSO, she cares for people to the point where she forgets to take care of herself... and refuses to. the woman needs to chill for a sec and someone should remind her. but her secret is that she suffers from ptsd from a previous case she’s had. richelle’s lacking in the sleeping department. she rarely sleeps now, so she covers those dark circles with makeup. wears makeup almost every time she has a shift and avoids the berating from her co-workers... because they sure as hell can be annoying.

even if she spends the majority of her time at the police station, the detective does give 100% of her time + undivided attention to family and friends. rickie takes work seriously, but not herself. she cleans up good. isn’t afraid to take a challenge ! don’t challenge her, don’t recommend it.

a women with few words. speaks when spoken to, otherwise she’s quiet. a rational woman. shares opinions, is willing to listen to others if nobody will; open-minded. an approachable detective. she’s not scary... i should have just said: easygoing.

What Trump Can Teach Us About Con Law - Professor Elizabeth Joh teaches Intro to Constitutional Law and most of the time this is a pretty straight forward job. Now? Five minutes before class Professor Joh checks Twitter to find out what the 45th President has said and how it jibes with 200 years of the judicial branch interpreting and ruling on the Constitution.

Gastropod - Podcast that looks at food through the lens of science and history. One week, the history of silverware. The next, snails! [Wonderful bi-weekly podcast about some aspect of food and its history. The Polygon Show - Thanks to rapid advances in audio recording technology, Polygon is prepared to enter a brave new frontier: talking about games. And food. And getting nasty with garbage cans. Important issues. [As I’ve previously yelled about, these ladies are delightful.]

Idle Weekend - Hosts Danielle Riendeau and Rob Zacny wrap up each week with their different perspectives on video games, the industry, and the pop culture they're currently obsessed by. Kick off your weekend right.

Tone Control - Conversations with Game Developers. Steve Gaynor of The Fullbright Company sits down with noteworthy video game developers for an in-depth conversation about their career and creative process, and the tricky work of establishing and maintaining a cohesive tone in their games. [Only 1 season from ~2014, but still 14 episodes of interesting discussion regarding level design, game development process, and the video game industry in general.]

Affection Points - Affection points is candid discussion between academic Mattie Brice and freelancer AM Cosmos, where we talk about our favorite and particularly interesting aspects of select game series each episode. [Sadly looks like an abandoned project, with only 2 episodes, but if you like Style Savvy or Fire Emblem, very worth listening to!]

Grab Bag of Delight

Food 4 Thot - Dennis, Fran, Joseph, Tommy forged a beautiful friendship over their shared love of literature, rosé, and butt-stuff. This round-table podcast is a recipe from all their brains, discussing (and sometimes disagreeing) on everything at the intersection of queerness and brownness—from Beyoncé to Borges, politics to peen sizes, Nietzsche to 90s R&B—combining the best of literary intellect with absolute trash. [I think @pearwaldorf said it best: “It scratches the same sort of itch that (dear departed) The Toast did, with both high and low culture being given the same level of import and consideration. It’s funny as hell.]

Dragon Friends - Monthly comedy show and podcast where three comedians muddle through their first Dungeons & Dragons adventure campaign. [What happens when you take an amazing DM, a bunch of top tier improv actors who have never read the PHB, add in a distinctly Australian flavor, and mix in front of a live audience? SHEER MAGIC, eerily similar but legally distinct from Disney Magic. Come for Philge, the half-orb barbarian queen we all bow before; stay for Freezo, the orphan warlock who might be the center of a prophecy to end the world. Or a sociopath. Or both.]

The Far Meridian - The Far Meridian tells the story of Peri, an agoraphobic young woman, whose home starts to show up in a new location every day, spurring on a search for her missing brother.
