Chapter 35 - An Act of Love [AO3 link]

Summary - Rory wakes up (sorta) and learns that while they won the Infinity War, the aftermath is painful. What the universe needs is a jumpstart in the right direction, and love is the only force strong enough to do that.

"Thank you. Now get out so I can do mine. You're wonderful but this bathroom isn't really big enough for the both of us." Violet said before sweetly pushing him out. "Feel free to take any of my jewelry if you want." She called through the bathroom door. Violet did her makeup carefully, knowing the pictures would be abundant tonight. "I was also thinking that if we're still hungry after the party we could go to that diner down the street. I don't know what kind of food they're serving. Last year it was a bunch of appetizers on plates." There was bacon wrapped shrimp at the last party, she hoped they brought that back. "Okay, I'm done. I just need shoes and we can go. What do you think? Does the point come across?" She asked, popping the sparkly devil horn headband on.

Rory stayed silent for some time as she led him towards to get his makeup done for the look. He found himself smirking at her as she settled down in between his legs. He hadn't said anything to her and only eyed her up admiringly. He would be lying if he said dirty thoughts didn't run through his head for her at that moment. He certainly loved seeing her on her knees for him. He had closed his eyes and let her work silently. Once she was done he looked up and stared into her eyes before finally responding to her. He eyed himself properly looking through the makeup and her work. He then turned towards her before finally responding to her. "You have done a great job darling. I must confess you certainly know how to perform magic. " He said to her softly as he looked into her eyes.

The Stables

When Jack and Saiwa crossed the bridge, Lunatic became aware of where they were and bucked.

Jack: "Lunatic! What's wrong?"

Tyalindo: 'Omg! Was it here where you have been attacked by the giant rat and the werewolf?' Lunatic: 'Yes!'

Jack: "Don't worry Lunatic. We are here. We will protect you. Look, this Lady here was able to pass unscathed!" Lady: ö.Ö'

Jack: "OMG! This is Rory Oaklow! And we are in their territory! She will make mincemeat out of us!" Saiwa hisses.

Lunatic: 'She comes directly towards us!'

Tyalindo: 'Leave Jack alone!'

But Rory walked right past them and - vanished? And then Lou Howell approached and vanished too. Right in front of their very eyes.

Tyalindo: 'What is going on here?' Jack: "I don't know. We had this happen behind the Tavern at Mount Komorebi too. This is so disturbing!"

They ran back to the safe Bunker. Jack: "Lunatic! Wait for us!"

Lunatic: 'Quick! Close the gate!'

Little Goat: 'What happened?' Lunatic: 'Werewolves attacked us! And then they vanished into nowhere!' Little Goat: 'But it is good they vanished, isn't it?' Lunatic: 'No! It is scary! When they can disappear into nowhere - they can appear out of nowhere!' Little Goat: 'OMG! Then it makes no sense to close the gate! They can appear anywhere!' Lunatic: 'OMG!'

——- Hearing what he said, rachel felt it, she wanted to just leave too — her face said it all, she was exhausted. maybe after this one, she'd tell her team she was sick or something to get a break ? ❝ yeah, me too. ❞ before she accepted, walking back towards the door to re-enter the event, she froze. turning on her heel and walking towards rory with a soft smirk crossing her lips, suddenly looking full of life. ❝ i'd actually love to sneak out of here. let's do it. ❞

Rory looked into her eyes for a moment and found himself sighing softly at her. In truth he too had been rather tired of constantly having to attend these events with her. As much as he loved and supported her and was always there for her he had to admit that these events were starting to get tiresome on him. He wished they could do something else. Something more relaxing and fun perhaps. Something they would both enjoy no matter what. He wished there was a way out of these events but he knew better that there was not. He found himself sighing softly at her as he looked into her eyes for a moment. He then nodded his head at her before finally responding to her. "Yeah I am. I wish that we could just leave. " He said to her softly. At her next words he sighed softly at her before reluctantly nodding at her. "I suppose we should. Unless you want to sneak out of here. " He said to her gently.

Chapter 13 - The Hulk in Shirts [AO3 link]

Summary: Tony needs to rest, and Rory needs a team. So Rory decides to seek out another big brain to help in the operation. And she's surprised to find big brain and big brawn have turned into a more complete package deal.

Chapter 14 - They're Still Out There

Summary: The Guardians may have found where Thanos has been hiding, and a key detail has been revealed. Because of this detail, a particular heist idea is shut down by Rory herself. And it kills her to do it too.

🌊 Morgan würde nie zugeben, dass er eine Freundin hat – zumindest nicht im herkömmlichen Sinne. Wenn er jemanden in seinem Leben als Freund bezeichnen würde, dann wäre es seine alte, verwitwete Nachbarin Mrs. Callahan, die ihn regelmäßig mit ihrem scharfen Verstand und ihren noch schärferen Bemerkungen beeindruckt. Die beiden führen eine ungewöhnliche Beziehung: Morgan hilft ihr gelegentlich beim Einkaufen oder repariert ihre kaputten Geräte, während sie ihn mit selbstgebackenem Brot versorgt und ihm unaufgefordert Ratschläge fürs Leben gibt, die er gerne ignoriert. 

🌊 Morgan schneidet seine Haare selbst – und das schon seit Jahren. Für ihn ist ein Friseurbesuch nicht nur verschwendetes Geld, sondern auch eine nervige Tortur. Smalltalk, fremde Hände in seinen Haaren, und das erzwungene Lächeln der Friseure, die über „schlechtes Wetter“ oder „den neuesten Promi-Klatsch“ reden wollen, sind für ihn ein Albtraum. Mit einer Schere und seinem Badezimmerspiegel kommt er bestens klar – auch wenn das Ergebnis manchmal eher nach „ich wurde nach drei wochen aus dem dschungel gerettet“ als nach „gewollt lässig“ aussieht. Morgan ist das egal. 

🌊 Es gibt kaum jemanden, der so gut schwimmen kann wie Morgan. Seine Bewegungen im Wasser waren einst fließend, mühelos und von einer Kraft und Eleganz, die sein Trainer als Olympiareif beschrieben hat. Doch obwohl er die Fähigkeiten eines Spitzensportlers besitzt, hat er das Schwimmen inzwischen so sehr hinter sich gelassen, dass er nicht einmal mehr baden geht. Was eigentlich sein größtes Talent und seine Leidenschaft war, ist für ihn heute nichts weiter als eine ferne Erinnerung, die er konsequent ignoriert – selbst wenn das bedeutet, im Hochsommer nicht in den Pool zu gehen.

🌊 Obwohl Morgan wenig mit anderen Menschen anfangen kann, hat er eine überraschend sanfte Seite, wenn es um Kinder geht. Vielleicht, weil er selbst so viele jüngere Geschwistern hat, oder weil Kinder für ihn ehrlicher und weniger kompliziert sind als Erwachsene. Er gibt zwar nie zu, dass er Kinder mag, doch es ist offensichtlich, wenn er sich geduldig mit ihnen unterhält oder ihnen sogar heimlich hilft – etwa, indem er einem fremden Kind seinen verlorenen Ball aus der Baumkrone angelt, ohne eine Dankesbekundung abzuwarten.

🌊 Morgan behauptet steif und fest, dass er keine Ahnung hat, wie man flirtet – und er hat tatsächlich keine bewusste Strategie dafür. Doch sein schroffer Humor, die Art, wie er ohne Umschweife ehrlich ist, und sein vermeintlich "nachdenklicher" Blick sorgen dafür, dass er schon einige Herzen für sich gewinnen konnte. Während er selbst denkt, er sei sozial inkompetent, könnten andere schwören, dass er ein Meister des subtilen Flirts ist. Wenn jemand allerdings versucht, mit ihm zu flirten, versteht er es schlichtweg nicht. Anspielungen, Neckereien oder offensichtliche Komplimente lässt er entweder an sich abprallen oder interpretiert sie komplett falsch. 

🌊 Die einzige Person, die sich aktiv in Morgans Liebesleben einzumischen versucht, ist Mrs. Callahan. Sie hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, ihn mit Menschen zu verkuppeln, die sie für „passend“ hält.

🌊 Er hat einen kleinen Schlüsselanhänger in Form eines eher unförmigen Frosches, den er immer bei sich trägt. Niemand weiß, woher er ihn hat oder warum er ihm so wichtig ist, aber er reagiert extrem gereizt, wenn jemand ihn danach fragt.

🌊 Morgan entwickelte schon früh ein Talent dafür, mit wenig viel zu machen, wenn es ums Essen ging. Er hat unzählige "Küchenexperimente" ausprobiert, um seine Geschwister zu beeindrucken – von Pancakes mit Cola bis zu "Improvisations-Pizza" aus Toastbrot. Seine Geschwister fanden es großartig, doch seine Mutter war nicht allzu begeistert.

🌊 Er findet Social Media lächerlich und sieht keinen Sinn darin, sein Leben öffentlich zu teilen. Er hat allerdings einen geheimen Account, auf dem er süße Tier Memes liked.

🌊 Morgan konnte schon immer mit nahezu unheimlicher Präzision vorhersagen, wann es regnen wird. Er merkt es oft Stunden vorher an der Luftfeuchtigkeit, ohne Wetter-Apps zu brauchen.

🌊 Morgan hat die seltsame Angewohnheit entwickelt, Ameisen aus Pfützen zu retten.

🌊 Morgan besitzt die verblüffende Fähigkeit, innerhalb von Sekunden die genaue Anzahl von Treppenstufen in einem Gebäude zu schätzen – niemand weiß, wie er das macht, und er selbst auch nicht.

🌊 Wenn man Morgan fragt, woher die Narbe an seinem Kiefer stammt, antwortet er nur knapp: „Fünf gegen einen. Ich habe gewonnen.“ Was er nicht erzählt: Die Sache brachte ihm nicht nur eine legendäre Campus Geschichte, sondern auch eine kurze Zeit hinter Gittern ein.

🌊 Morgans Wohnung ist fast leer. Abgesehen von einem alten Sofa, einem Tisch und einem Bett hat er kaum Möbel. Er sagt, das sei „minimalistisch“, aber eigentlich hasst er es einfach, Sachen aufzubauen oder zu transportieren.

🌊 Morgan hasst es, zu telefonieren. Er lässt Anrufe so oft wie möglich unbeantwortet und bevorzugt es, per Nachricht zu kommunizieren. Wenn jemand tatsächlich einen Rückruf bekommt, ist es entweder extrem wichtig – oder ein Versehen.
