In which Arthur befriends a sorcerer hiding in the forests while hiding his identity as the Prince. As they navigate their budding relationship, the two explore what it means to be good and what it means to be loved.

My addition: It was so cute! Seeing Arthur come around to magic especially in such a short period of time was so fun to watch. Also, it changed the dynamics very interestingly in which Arthur never registered as a prince to Merlin, and was, this time, the one keeping secrets.

The characters are well written and so fun to watch dance around each other as always, even in a completely different *shrugs* everything.

Hey! Are you a Harry Potter fan feeling disappointed and betrayed? Do you want a piece of well-written fantasy media that doesn't have a transphobic author? Then boy howdy have I got reccomendations for you 1) Discworld. Old fantasy series by Terry Pratchett, who co-wrote Good Omens. It's very funny but also really well written. It started as just a parody of Conan The Barbarian-style sword and sorcery fantasy but it has some genuinely fascinating worldbuilding and every book is a mix of silliness, fascinating fantasy ideas horrifying concepts, insights into the very core of what it means to be human, and really dumb puns. The representation is remarkably good considering they were written decades ago by an old cishet white british man. It has canonically trans characters, although they don't use those labels, and the author is dead so he can't disappoint you by suddenly revealing he's a far-right dipshit. 2) The Eruvia books. A pair of trilogies written by Melissa Caruso about a fantasy world much of which is modeled after rennaissance Italy, particularly Venice. There is a scene which contains three canonically gay mages each individually capable of destroying armies need I say more. Some truly amazing magic systems and plot twists and worldbuilding. The Swords and Fire series takes place first chronologically and is a better introduction to the magic system, but I prefer the Rooks and Ruin trilogy although both are amazing. Contains a multitude of queer identities, including one canonically trans character, three characters with they/them pronouns, and several characters that don't fit in a gender binary. 3) The Aurora webcomic. If any of you know of the Overly Sarcastic Productions youtube series, this comic is written and drawn by Red. Very pretty art, phenomonal characters, coolass magic system. Also if you're tired of stories always focusing on romance read this because like to this day there's only like the implied beginning of one romance arc in the entire thing. It isn't finished yet though. It's got dragons, gods, primordial elemental entities, and lil guys who need therapy. Also has a canonically trans male character. And it's a webcomic, so it's absolutely free! Just enter "aurora webcomic" into a browser and you can find it. All of these are, in my opinion, better written than Harry Potter but most certainly contain better queer representation and have authors with less expressed transphobia.

“You are extraordinary, Christopher.” Ty pressed a kiss to the base of his throat.

Kit’s lips tugged upwards. “Christopher? Not Kit?”

Ty’s arm went around Kit’s waist. “Considering the fact that you can hardly remember your name after kissing me, I doubt it really matters what I call you.”

Kit’s eyebrows rose, along with an unwelcome flush. “Untrue.”

Ty grinned. “Want to bet?”

About 10 minutes later, both Kit and Ty were covered in a sheen of sweat, Kit’s lips swollen and Ty’s usually pale skin flush with color.

“You’re doing well, Watson.” Ty noted.

“Still not Kit?”

“Well, you clearly still remember your name.” Ty said, feigning disappointment.

Kit smirked. “Guess you didn’t do too well of a job.”

Ty rolled hips against Kit, extracting a sharp breath from the blonde and a smile from the other.

“I was just getting started.”

All Kit could feel was ecstasy. There was no passage of time when he was with Ty, there was no fear. Ty leaned down and kissed him for the umpteenth time, their swollen lips colliding and sending sparks down his spine.

“Who are you?”

“I’m yours.”

The Mask of Mirrors, The Liar’s Knot (by M. A. Carrick)

A friend bought me the book The Mask of Mirrors for Christmas and I swear I didn’t emerge from it for three days straight. This is a SUMPTUOUS non-traditional European fantasy with some of the richest world building I’ve read in a while. The magic, the cultures, the history, the fashion, it all felt so tangible that I could mentally pop myself into Nadezhra pretty much from page one. It had the twisty-turny, political intrigue-y plot that really appeals to me - without the intense violence you might find in other series that often get recommended for their politically-driven plots. Secret identities, characters that make you feel things, a queer-norm society, truly detestable villains… I loved this book. So I had to draw the three main characters obv.

I was so shocked that I couldn’t find the sequel in stores anywhere! Had to order online, and gotta say, it was equally good or better than the first… The character moments in The Liar’s Knot felt like releasing a breath you’ve been holding for hours. You’ll know what I mean if you read it ☺️

Anyway, this series deserves way more hype than it has. I read a LOT of SFF and this one stood out to me as truly fantastic. If you love secret identities, slow (SLOW) burn romance, a puzzle-like plot, tarot, and general luxuriousness for your brain…. I beg you to pick up The Mask of Mirrors.

Audio Drama Sunday is perfectly paced

My favourite roleplaying game! Naomi Clarke, occasional guest on @merelyroleplayers! Nathan Blades, star of @inyourbenevolence episode 8! Kieron Gillen from comics! Grant Howitt who wrote the game! This was going to be a blast even before you factor in @maddyisabstract and Cai Gwilym Pritchard in the production team. 'Going to a fucked up wedding' is such a great campaign frame for Heart, I'm incensed I didn't think of it. I've always found Heart a pacey rollercoaster of a game and the editing preserves that feel, without me losing the thread of what's going on. All the characters are so distinctive and odd right from the start. Thank you, everyone who threw money at Dagger in the Heart and made this happen.

I was reading along in the Dracula Daily book this year, and on paper, the climactic scene is brisk – it goes by in a flash, it's almost over too fast. @re-dracula paces it beautifully, giving it the time for each heroic act and definitive blow to land in the listener's heart.

The penultimate episode of season 1, which is about the mortifying ordeal of being known.

We've had a run of plotty (as much as any episode of I Need A Miracle can be called 'plotty') or worldbuildy episodes, and the season finale needs to have a certain amount of narrative drive to make it a satisfying point to end on. So this episode is a pause. An in-breath before the top of the coaster. It's pure character in a way the show's premise really allows to sing. (Now's a great time to catch up on the season so far before the finale!)

As someone who used to play piano, sing in choirs, and did Community Theatre I'd 100% serenade my fave (or any) Twst boys. Hell, I'd do it for the bit or as some type of prank! I might find any and all opportunities to sing/play songs from a range of decades to my boys.....

Imagine teasing Trey by singing Build Me Up Buttercup by the Foundations while he's baking for you ❤️ and seeing him shaking his head with an amused smile. As long as you help around the kitchen, and don't mind a playful chase or two with the ingredients, 🧁 he might be willing to join in with I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) by Four Tops as you clean up the mess the two of you made.

Jokingly singing Hard Days Night by the Beatles with/at Ruggie after another long day of school, work, errands and babysitting.... 🌼 When finally you've got some time to just be in each other's presence. But even if the two of you can only get these small moments now, deep down Ruggie knows how lucky he is to love you. 🌠 Introducing Knock On Wood by Eddie Floyd would perfectly put words to just how lucky he is to have you.

Late at night, when Jamil finally has some time to rest, and finally being able to Serenade him in the moonlight 🌙 with Moonlight Serenade by Ella Fitzgerald. Sure, it's a little on the nose but he's still flattered. Save The Last Dance For Me by The Drifters would be another testament of how well you understood him; 🪭Jamil's first priority might be Kalim's by blood, but his biggest priority is YOU (and that's by choice).

Rook would be fascinated to know French songs on Earth like La Vie En Rose by Louise Armstrong! Even if you fumble through the words a little, as long as you show him the lyrics perhaps the two of you could work through it together.🌹He'd equally love hearing old Crooner songs like The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra.... And the way he looks at you while performing just about sets your heart on fire 🔥💕.

Old Man Lilia would appreciate just about any rendition of Dream A Little Dream Of Me considering his affiliation with 💭Diasomnia. But considering his love of music in general, along with the seemingly endless life he's already had up until he finally got to meet and fall for you 💘, At Last by Etta James would be almost too perfect.

(This wasn't perfectly done, but I LITERALLY couldn't sleep until I typed it all out. As you can tell my taste can lean kinda old school (because I was raised by a Baby Boomer) but I've also been listening to a lot of Jazz, Soul and classic musical numbers lately. These songs hold a lot of memories and nostalgia and I guess I just needed a space to project them on lol! And if you couldn't tell.... I fucking ADORE the Vice Wardens in Twisted Wonderland 💖😩🥰 These characters and so many others hold SUUUUUUCH a close place in my heart I literally can't.💜❤️ Lowkey, lemme know if anyone's interested in more songs that I associate (and dissociate singing to them lol) with these or any other characters!! It'd also be fun to try writing a drabble, ONE-SHOT, or full fic again 🥴😋)
