ouhhhhhh okay but it's rightly a very beloved trope. No, I have not written that one before BUT in my absolutely overflowing McDex Drive I have SO MANY instances of them sleeping platonically together. Who cares if there even are two beds, they see one mattress and go honk-shoe zzzzzz.

There is a fic I am currently writing and plotting out where Rodney needs to go back to Earth bc a family member died (similar to the episode where John has to go for the same reason), but the thing about Rodney is that he feels and grieves very differently from other people, so this fic is more in line with Rodney realizing how much of a family his team has become to him and how much they love and accept him, mirrored with the expectations of his earth relatives on how he should behave and fit in and suppress and mask and just be 'normal' for once. For plot reasons, Ronon needs to come with him and they're able to stay at his sister's house, where unfortunately (:]) they have to share not only the guest room but also the bed because Ronon is way too big for the pull-out couch and Rodney is certainly not going to give up the bed and fuck up his back. Now the bed is actually quite relevant because proximity and vulnerability and also both are worse than the other when it comes to being touch starved. It also creates a nice no-mans land where both Rodney and Ronon can speak and consider things with a bit of distance towards all the happenings of Atlantis. And they also get to see a bit of different, more domestic side of each other (Rodney knows how to cook and makes amazing pancakes, change my mind). There only being one bed is not the focus of the story, but it's the one where it features most prominently in that specific instance of "oh no... guess we'll have to share" idea. There's another fic idea where they both bunk together willingly for trauma TM reasons but that's volontarily, so that doesn't really fit the trope I feel.

A kiss out of necessity

She needs him. And by the way he’s looking at her he needs her, too. Now. 

Elizabeth excuses herself from the party, mentioning something about preparations for the arrival of the Daedalus. Always a good excuse. She leaves. She knows he will do the same - after an unsuspicious amount of time has passed. At least that's how it usually goes.

This time, however, her doors have barely slid shut behind her when she hears the familiar chime and she opens them back up. Ronon is panting slightly, as if he ran all the way from the mess hall to her quarters. She lets him enter wordlessly, quickly checking the corridors to see if anyone could have seen them. Nobody is around. Everyone is at the party. Their absence won’t be noticed.

She faces him, her chest heaving already in anticipation as she seizes him up. His arm is still in a sling, a remnant from AR-1's latest mission. 

They made it back - barely, Ronon being the one beaten up the worst. The bruises on his arms (and no doubt in other places as well), and his split lip have almost healed, the injuries mere shadows on his skin now.

She thought she'd lost them. Again. She thought she'd never see them. Again. It never gets easier. But it makes their return ever so sweeter. Just as it makes this so much sweeter.

He’s still catching his breath, and it is not only because of his little sprint through Atlantis' hallways. His gaze is fixed on her, as if she’s the only thing he sees, as if she draws his attention like a single flame in the darkness of the night.

An invisible force pulls them towards each other, time apart, fear of having seen one another for the last time, and not to mention touch deprivation creating an almost ecstatic atmosphere between them.

It is the first time they are alone since the team returned a few days ago, and neither of them has addressed the other so far. Words, spoken words at least, are not something Ronon gives away lightly. It stumped her at first, yet intrigued her. This fascination has not gone away, not even since they started this game.

Surprisingly, he opens his mouth now, just as they are only inches apart and she has to crane her neck to look at him. She instantly shakes her head. No talk.

A smirk, one that makes her heart flutter and her stomach coil, tucks at the corner of his mouth and without missing a beat he leans down to meet her in an open mouthed kiss. She arches into the kiss, her arms flying around his neck, letting her need take a hold of her.

His beard scratches her skin, a feeling she never thought she'd like but has learned to love.

His kiss, his tongue, is just as urgent as her own, his body language almost frantic as he carefully pushes her back against the nearest wall. She doesn't know how but he manages to lift her up with one arm. He winces lightly when she wraps her legs around his waist and she momentarily draws out of the kiss. He is still towering over her...

"Are you alright?" Her speech is slurred with both lightheadedness from the kiss and the urgency to make sure that his injuries are not worse than he let anyone know and that she did not hurt him involuntarily. 

"Yeah," he replies, his eyes brimming with a softness she only ever noticed when they are in private - when he looks at her.

She tries to make herself a little taller to meet his lips again, instead his forehead finds hers and he just rests there for a moment, eyes closed, breathing - deeply - as if he is catching his breath for the first time after running for a long, long time.

Perhaps the last mission has taken more out of him than she - or anyone else - realized, perhaps what he really needed was a place to rest in peaceful companionship. A place to lay his guard down.

She cups his face with one hand, lets her fingertips brush through his beard, and she feels him shudder, his nose nuzzling against hers. She smiles, nuzzling back, hoping for another kiss, as his kisses are always so sweet, so deep, so heartfelt, so... open. As if when kissing someone - her -, he bares a part of him that he usually keeps hidden.

However, he makes no indication to kiss her again just yet, and she presses no further.

They stay like this for a while, silence enveloping them as elsewhere in the city the party rages on. A moment like this, some peace in the turmoils of Pegasus, is rarely found, rarely lived, rarely enjoyed, and insanely difficult to break out of.

Nonetheless Elizabeth eventually pulls back, her hand still cupping his cheek.

"Wanna get some sleep?" She asks, her voice echoing louder than she anticipated in the dark room.

He nods, turning his head to press a kiss on the palm of her hand. Her stomach drops at the gesture. It's easy to forget what lies behind the outer appearance of Ronon. It's easy to forget he is secretly a romantic. And yet he continues to remind her whenever he has the chance.

Perhaps, she thinks as her feet touch the ground again, one day she won't forget anymore.

Three ships: Arthur x Eames - Inception is my first real fandom and I will always be endeared to them. Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon Levitt have incredible chemistry on screen it's hard not to want to know ore about Arthur and Eames' history. Also the fic is top tier.

Kimchay- I got really into Kinnporche and Kim and Chay are my favorite of the main pairings. To me they have the most possibilities and unanswered questions in canon. They lend themselves to equally well to comedy and angsty dark fic.

Ronon Dex and Rodney McKay - A rarepair I'll throw in cuz there has been a lot of Stargate on my dash recently.

First ship: Stony in the age of 2012 Avengers tower fic

Last movie: It's been a hot minute since I saw a movie I think it was Deadpool & Wolverine.

Currently watching: Moonflower Murders - It's a mystery on PBS. There are three storylines: a murder at a wedding that happened 8 years ago, a book based on that murder, and the sudden disappearance of the woman who's wedding it was. The stories are suspenseful and fun and I can't wait for it to all tie together.

Currently reading: Mm I just finished rereading The Vampire Lestat. My next read is going to be The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman which my mom recommended. I haven't started it yet because I am too awkward to tell people on flights to stop chatting.

Currently eating: Peanut M&Ms and overly sugared coffee

Currently craving: Pumpkin Pie, its that season

Game of Thrones: This should go without saying, given that it’s successor HOTD single-handedly brought me back to this madhouse. Three Seasons of some of the greatest television ever made, an alright fourth season followed by four seasons of pure, concentrated dog piss (of which I subjected myself only to S5 and 6).

Deadliest Warrior: If not for a subpar third (and final) season, this show would be 100% GOATED. The smack talking between the experts, the weapons demonstrations, the acted out fights at the end, all of it *chef’s kiss*. The DW discussion groups on Facebook were a major stomping ground of mine, and getting to interact with the experts on the DW Experts discussion group was a highlight of my teenage years. 

The Wire: Only seen Seasons 1 and 2, still need to complete my watch through of all five seasons, but DAMN is The Wire good (also RIP Lance Reddick aka Lt. Daniels). 

Yugioh 5Ds!: This and VRAINS are the only of the Yugioh anime that I’ve watched all the way through thus far. For all the jokes about “card games on motorcycles,” 5Ds is unironically amazing. 

Justice League/Justice League Unlimited: Maybe some of the greatest children’s programming ever made, and you don’t even need to be a child to enjoy it or appreciate the stories (Wonderbat and Question x Huntress are S-tier).

Stargate SG-1 & Atlantis: Before Christopher Judge voiced Kratos, before Jason Momoa was Khal Drogo and Aquaman, there was Teal’c of Chulak and Ronon Dex. Col. Jack O’Neill is an American Hero.

Merlin: Watched it with my younger sister and loved every minute of it; it’s fun to see how far many of the actors from the show have come (esp. Tom Hopper aka Sir Percival).

Berserk: This one isn’t necessarily a show per se. There’s been two anime adaptations of the manga: the 1997 adaptation of the Golden Age Arc, and the Golden Age trilogy movies along with the 2016-17 Anime (DO NOT subject yourself to the 16-17 anime if you value your eyeballs). God willing we’ll get a proper adaptation someday, maybe when the Manga is completed.

Plot: After finally giving up on waiting for Ronon to return your feelings, you decide to go on a date with someone who does like you. Unknowingly, Ronon does return your feelings, and decides to finally do something about it.

You winced as Ronon slammed John down onto the training mat for the third time. "Getting tired?" Ronon asked with a smirk.

"No!" Sheppard yes as he stumbled to stand. "Just biding my time, wearing you down."

"Uh-huh"

You smiled at their banter as you looked back at Ronon, watching as he circled John. Your eyes trailed up his chiseled arms, up to his defined shoulders.

"Enjoying the show?"

You jumped at the sudden whispering voice beside you. Looking over, you saw Teyla watching you with an amused grin.

"What?" You laughed out, swallowing.

She leaned against the wall beside you. "You seemed to be quite interested in Ronon's....skills."

You rolled your eyes. "I'm watching them train, Teyla."

"Mhm." She hummed as you heard her snicker under her breath. After a short moment of silence, she leaned closer and spoke softly. "When are you going to tell him that you have feelings for him?"

Your heart leapt in your chest as you looked over at Ronon, making sure he could not hear you. You looked back at Teyla and shook your head. "Who said I was ever going to?"

"Oh come on, Y/n. You two would be perfect together."

You let out a small scoff and shook your head. "Well I'm sorry to disappoint you Teyla, but I don't think Ro- I don't think he, has ever looked at me and ever seen anything more than a friend."

Seeing true disappointment flash across your face, she frowned. "I think he has."

"We both know how blunt he is Teyla, he doesn't hide things like I do. If he felt something, don't you think he would have said so by now?"

You could see her weighing your words before she let out a soft sigh. "Perhaps you are right. I'm sorry."

You smiled softly at her as you looked back over at Ronon. "Maybe it's time I try and move on from these feelings. It could only hurt me to keep waiting for something to happen when I know it never will."

Teyla thought for a moment. "Well, you know. Lieutenant Thompson seems to have an interest in you."

"You mean James?" She nodded. "Yeah, I know. He asked me on a date a few days ago, but I said no."

"Maybe you could change your mind?'

Watching as Ronon smiled coyly and took a towel from a pretty ogling soldier, who had been watching from the other side of the room. You felt disappointment fill you.

You let out a soft sigh. "Yeah, I suppose I could." You looked over at Teyla and gave her a soft smile, and she gently squeezed your shoulder. "And, I guess now is a better time than any." You said pushing away from the wall. Giving Ronon one more glance, you left the room, unaware that his eyes followed you out.

Teyla, however, did notice. She also noticed the frown that crossed his face when you left. Ronon crossed the room and approached her, "Wheres Y/n going? What were you guys talking about?"

His eyes were locked on the door you had walked out of. He caught a few words from your conversation with Teyla. 'When are you going to tell him' 'Something about 'feelings', and you said a name 'James?' Who was that? And was he the one you had feelings for? His heart seemed to ache in his chest at the idea.

Teyla squinted at him. "Why do you care?"

He looked back at Teyla. "Uh, well, they usually stay around after my training sessions, to either have a small spar, or we go get some food."

"Well I think Y/n has something more...interesting to do."

"What does that mean?"

"Well, they went to go discuss a date."

She watched closely as Ronon adjusted his stance, clearly caught by surprise at this. "What date?"

"With Lieutenant Thompson of course. He's quite interested in Y/n."

'So Thompson is James?' Ronon felt his face fall. "Is he now?"

Teyla smiled, seeing the clear jealousy that crossed his face. She shook her head and leaned closer to him, speaking quietly. "Sorry to break it to you Ronon, but you hid your feelings to well, and waited to long."

He peered down at her. "What does that mean?"

She let out an aggravated sigh. "Are you really so daft? Y/n has been waiting around for you to show any interest in them for months now. Someone can only wait so long before they finally give up."

Walking away from him with a shake of her head Ronon stared after her. Had you truly been waiting that long? And was he so bad at showing how he felt that you never saw it? Now guilt sat in his chest, paired with his jealousy.

You let out a defeated sigh as you looked around the cafeteria. You had been waiting for James to get back from his mission to speak with him, but now you could not find him.

Turning to leave, you halted in your steps as you saw him enter. Walking quickly towards him, you smiled. "James."

"Oh, hey Y/n." You were a bit thrown off by his behavior. He seemed happy to see you, yet more reserved than normal.

"I just wanted to talk to you, about that date you asked me on earlier-"

"Oh, don't worry, you don't have to explain."

"What do-"

"Ronon told me."

You stared at him unblinkingly for a moment. "I'm sorry, what did Ronon tell you exactly?"

"That you tow were together, dating."

"Me and Ronon are...dating?"

"Yeah...that's what he said at least. He explained that you refused my date, because you guys hadn't told anyone yet. So no worries, I'm glad you two are happy."

He smiled at you before brushing past you, leaving you perplexed, with your heart pounding. Looking back into the cafeteria, your eyes caught on Ronon as he passed by the doorway.

Following after him, you caught up with him in an empty hallway. Grabbing his arm, he turned around and you smacked him on the chest.

"Ow. What-"

"Did you tell the guy I was gonna go out with that we're dating?"

So you talked to James. He cleared his throat. "Yeah, maybe." You saw a soft smile almost crossing his face. You felt your gut clench and let out a scoff.

"Is my love life just a joke to you or something Ronon?"

"What?" His face fell.

"You made sure James wouldn't go out with me now. Why would you lie to him like that, I don't get it."

"Oh come on, he's a jerk."

"Since when did you know him?"

"I guess I don't really, but I've heard him talking, and he has a reputation. He'd only hurt you."

'A reputation? What kind of reputation?'

You shook your head. "Why didn't you just tell me that? Why did you tell him we were dating? What was the point in that?"

He shrugged lightly and cleared his throat. "I guess it wasn't so much a lie, as it was...a wish?"

Your words died in your throat as you were unsure of what to say. "I- a- what?"

Looking past your shoulder, he could hear some people walking closer. Grabbing your wrist he pulled you along the corridor and into the empty training room.

When you were alone, he looked down at you and sighed. "I get that I messed up. I didn't tell you how I felt, even though you were hoping, or expecting me too. I just. I thought they were obvious, but now, I know they weren't at all. And that's my fault. Hearing that you were going to go on a date with James, I got... jealous. And I decided to finally say something."

'Feelings?' 'Jealous?' Your stomach was bursting with butterflies, and your heart beating heavily in your chest. "I...I should have told you, what I felt, maybe then it wouldn't have taken so long."

Ronon smiled down at you as you looked timidly down at your feet. Hooking his finger under your chin, he made you look at him. "I'm sorry I made you wait so long to know for sure. I didn't want to hurt you like that."

You smiled tenderly at him. "I know you didn't."

Taking a step closer, he brought his face down, pressing a kiss to your cheek. You felt your face heat up, as you repressed a grin.

"I'm still curious about something." You said softly.

"What?"

"Why did you go to James before me?"

"I was looking for you, but I ran across him first. I asked if he had talked to you, and he said no. Then he started talking about you, and how much he liked you, and I just... told him that we were together. He assumed that was why you had refused to go out with him, and I just went with it. Afterwards, I went looking for you again, but I guess I was too late, you had found him first."

"And, if he finds out that was a lie?"

"Why does he have to?" He asked with a smile.

You returned his smile, letting out a soft chuckle. "I guess he doesn't."

Ronon gently caressed your cheek with his fingers. "Does that mean that we are...dating, now?"

"Do you want it to?"

"Of course."

"Me too."

His smile grew. "Great. Then we are." Leaning down a bit loser, so his nose nudged yours, he cupped your face with his hand and stared into your eyes.

"Does that mean I can kiss you now?"

You bit your lip lightly before you nodded softly. "Yes."

His eyes scanned your lips as he slowly leaned in, your eyes closed just as his lips pressed against yours.

Slowly, you lifted your arms, wrapping them around his neck as he moved to wrap his arms around you, pulling you flush against his body as he deepened the kiss.

Picking you up off the ground a bit, you broke the kiss with a soft laugh. He grinned at you before setting you back down, bringing both of his hands up and cupping your face and kissing you again.

Well, we kind of have those fights in the show... I’d still say Teal’c. He’s got more than muscles and that’s experience in strategic combat.

As a man? Daniel, of course! As a team leader? Jack.

3. Who is the best head of SG (SGC or SGA): George Hammond, Hank Landry, Elisabeth Weir, Sam Carter or Richard Woolsey?

George Hammond for sure.  Nothing against the others, Hammond just gave the example how to do it.

4. Who is the best enemy: Goa’uld, Replicators, Ori or Wraith?

That is an interesting question because “best” can have many interpretations. Personally, I had the most fun with Goa’uld. I saw the Replicators as a greater threat, though, because they can replicate and evolve quite easily so technically, they are the best. They managed to almost destroy such a developed race as Asgards!

5. If you could pick three characters (no matter if dead or alive) to create a team, who would they be?

Lol, ‘no matter if dead or alive’... So, Sheppard as a leader. Sam as a scientist (she could swap with Zelenka). Ronon as the muscle. And me, I’d be female Daniel.

6. Where would you be rather stationed: SGC or Atlantis?

Atlantis, definitely. I think I would get claustrophobic in SGC, to be honest. And as Pisces, I am very close to water.

7. What’s your favourite ship (canon or not) from each show?

Nothing could be easier to answer.

SG-1: Daniel x Vala, SGA: Rodney x Jennifer, SGU: Everett x T.J.

8. What rare/alien species did you like the best?

Oh wow... Hard to choose between Asgard and Nox but I suppose I’ll go with good old Asgard.

9. Who is your favourite Alien (person/creature not from Earth).

Vala Mal Doran, without a doubt.

10. And last but not least: Favourite male character of each show and favourite female character of each show?

SG-1: Daniel Jackson and Vala Mal Doran

SGA: John Sheppard and Teyla Emmagan

Look, Sparky is my OTP for this show and one of my favorite ships in general...BUT...something I love about this scene is that shot of Ronon.

He sees John failing to meet Elizabeth on that high level of flirting and he just slips by to give her that look. It's like he's saying, "if Sheppard won't play, I'm right here. And I have a beard 😏"

Also, this scene feeds my John/Elizabeth/Ronon OT3 feels 🙂

ngl there was a LONG time before I knew what stargate was, even if I was online pretty early for the people who are my age. Add in the fact that a lot of English media wasn't all that accessible unless it was Mainstream back in the 90s-early 2000s, it makes sure that people who finally encounter it went 'oh that looks old an inaccessible, no thank you' and then promptly forgot it existed in the first place 🙈🙈

Incidentally I had the same reaction to X-files and Star Trek, so I think whatever content appears on my dash is selling Stargate pretty well to younger people who dismissed it at first (like me. Calling myself 'younger' when im turning 27 is Highly Amusing, but it's all a matter of perspective 😂)

OKAY SO. I do get this. I do!!! But I am such a nut for these sci-fi shows that I would happily watch these over and over again rather than watch new shows.

You’re not alone in this, though, don’t worry.

To attempt to remedy this, here are the first two seasons of Stargate SG:1, for free on my Drive (along with tons of books and fanfic) which is what that gif set was from. It’s just a goddamn ride from start to finish.

I don’t have the original Stargate movie (James Spader as Daniel the geek!) but if you look up a quick summary it tells you all you need to know to start Season One (season 2 is slowly uploading). 

I also actually really love Stargate: Atlantis, but it’s sort of inserted into the order of SG:1 so be patient, my friend. You will eventually get to see Aquaman Ronon Dex in all his awesomeness, a fucking kickass independent martial artist woman named Teyla, and the BEST ASSHOLE CANADIAN ON SCREEN EVER, my beloved Rodney McKay (P.S. McShep is like *quivers* a fantastic ship and there is plenty on AO3 that was both posted there initially and imported.)
