"you have a diary?" the witch sounds surprised, in her hand she holds a thin black notebook.
"well, it's more like a journal. i didn't write down every day just those days you know." he gestures towards it. the title "those days", written in spencer chicken scrathes of a handwriting. the white on black is a stark contrast.
"those days? the ones you don't talk about?"
"read the first page."
xenia raises her eyebrows starring at her classmate in confusion, but still does as she was told.
"a checklist", the confusion on her face spread even more, "holy water, a bible, salt? restraints? a rosary?"
"yeah."
"why?"
"it's the stuff my dad always uses on those days." spencer looks away avoiding the prying eyes of the witch.
"always? sounds like a wicked ritual instead of something from the holy heavens. what ritual would a pastor even need to perform..." her eyes widen.
"spencer", there is a crack in her voice, "don't fuck with me."
"never."

xenia is lying spread eagle in the middle of a room in an old and abandoned office building. her hair was framing her like a black halo.
that it was lying in the middle of coffee grounds, spilled printer ink and probably some drugs. spilled from dealers and addicts while running from the police.
grungy and all, it didn't matter to her or spencer, who was lying right next to her using her chest as a pillow. they were finally able to sleep in a room with 4 walls and a ceiling, after sleeping in an old cemetery for months.

spencer stepped into their living room. a cup of fresh coffee in his hand, his hair still unruly from just getting out of bed. it was six in the morning.
his eyes caught a silver shimmer from the window sill. it came from the metallic ornaments adorning a black leather bound book.
"where did you even find that?" spencers eyes flick to xenia who had made herself comfortable in the black loveseat. she too was drinking a cup of coffee.
"in your backpack."
"and how did it get there?" he stepped around the table looking at the book in disbelief.
"probably when we run from the cops." the witch answered. "i just threw it into the next best backpack."
"and we haven't used it since?" the young pastor picked it up from the window sill, it was heavier than he had remembered it to be.
"apparently. well the most important notes i had copied already and you knew most of it from the top of your head."
spencer flicked the book open, the title page read "a guide for" and the rest was ripped of. either by the original owner, someone who had gotten their hands on it before them, neither he or xenia knew.

the sun is setting casting a golden hue over the small town. sitting on the back porch of their house is xenia enjoing the last warmth of the day on her face.
the witch is starring out at the horizon, eyes not focused on anything particular. sometimes she wonders what would have happened, if she didn't insist on going with spencer. if she just had him let leave. how long it would have taken her to find him after a few years of waiting for his return.

"pastor haas, how come you're family never visits you and your gir- i mean xenia?" a young girl, not older then ten is starring up at him in the middle of the grocery store.
her mother mouths a sorry at him. spencer dismisses her with a wink of his hand, he doesn't mind.
"hey liza", he greets the blond girl, who is looking at him with big eyes. it looks like they are about to fall out of her head.
"you know that my family and nias family both live quite remote from here."
"my grandparents also live far away but they still visit on christmas."
"that's because you're grandparents live a state away. our familys live in germany, a whole other country, a whole other continent."

"nia!" a dark voice boomed through the empty parking garage, accompanied by heavy steps. they made their way over to the half wall where a girl with long raven hair was sitting on. xenias back was turned to him and she had her shoulders pulled up to the ears, head bowed down.
"do you have a tracker on me? or how the fuck did you find me this quickly!" she didn't turn around to face the man or move any other way.
"i brought some snacks." the man, he was a police officer, placed a plastic bag right next to the rigged girl.
"tracker?", she asked again.
"something like it."
she snagged the back next to her, looking inside. the snacks turned out to be instant noodles, energy drinks and crackers as well as sweets.
"warlock or witch?" xenia turned around to face him, eyes replaced by black voids. "i need someone to help me with magic overload."
the police officer, she and spencer only knew his first name, martin, starred at her. eyes unmoving from the void.
"witch."

it's the second train that they boarded today. xenia is sleeping. her head has fallen onto spencers shoulder and the boy is doing everything he can to stay awake. it wouldn't be the first time that they get robbed since they started this nomadic lifestyle.
more or less out of necessity but also because they are both curious what lies behind the small town that they grew up in. it has been nearly a year of traveling and doing odd jobs, that had no problem giving them their money on the hand.
spencer isn't sure how long they will keep this up, but he knows that xenia will follow him no matter what.

xenia was outside laying in the grass. arms and legs spread out as if she was a starfish, but instead of lying under cooling water the witch was soaking up the summer sun.
spring was more rainy than usual and spencer had feared that his friend was about the challenge the sun herself if she didn't show up soon.
her brother on the other hand was the complete opposite. he sat beside spencer inside of the house using his homework papers as a fan.
"i don't know how she does it. i'm sure i would already be a puddle and burned red if i did that."
"that's because your sister is a different breed. her being a witch is the most normal thing about her."

i need the party scene from the second chapter of the great gatsby (with nick, tom, myrtle & so on) as a writing template/prompt.
to use it in another fandom or for someone to use it with their ocs.
it's one of my favorite scenes in the book and i need more of it!

i hate how you get desensitized to the cool stuff in your WIP if you've been writing it for a long time so when you read back over it you're like "this isn't as cool as i thought :(" but it still is! you just read it too many times

"come on", she whined pulling a young man behind her. they had been in the forest for about two hours know. it could have been a normal hike, a bit rainy maybe, if xenia didn't still wear heels and spencer didn't look like he just stepped out of the church. she pulled him further into the woods, through brown leafs, mud and over to the remains of a corps.
xenias heels sunk in every step of the way and spencer lost hope that his leather boots would survive this savage treatment. it wouldn't be the first pair he lost this way.
"who do think is it?" he asked her kneeling down into a puddle of mud and blood, thinned by the slight rain.
"i know it's miles.", the raven haired woman answered.
"what? are sure? he was at the sermon-"
"spencer."
he starred at her wide eyed, knowing she knew. she always knew when it came to death. he just didn't want it to be true, be saw too much of himself in his teenage years in the boy.
spencer turned back to the body, half of the bones licked clean by which ever horror had killed the boy. grabbing a shoulder and a leg he turned the body onto his back. his breath caught in his throat: "miles-"
never fully prepared for the rightness of his best friends powers.
"if it helps", she wispers above him, "he is happy now."
the young pastor didn't need to turn around to know that a void that had replaced xenias eyes right now. devoid of life.

i have a love and hate relationship with fan fictions, no matter the fandom/pairing/topics discussed... it doesn't matter.
i will always feel worse than when i did before reading the fan fiction. as if all of the words were messing with my brain and writing a curse into it.

"you trekked how many miles to berlin?"
"around a hundred."
"how?"
"we were teenagers and feared very little after a year on the run." spencer vocie carried a hint of amusement with him as he answered the question. he graped a bush of lavender from his right, removing the pot and placing it in the hole he just dug moments before. the harsh winter had destroyed some of xenias favorite flowers and he opted in to help her replace them.
"but why?" the older men asked, he had decided to visit spencer and xenia as both of them hadn't shown up to curch in the morning.
"we- no i needed to get away from home. it wouldn't have ended well. and nia, jesus, i couldn't have done anything against it. she would have been with me one way or the other."
"so you ran away."
"yes, i don't regret it."
