fun band story of the week
ok so last night we had a three hour practice bc our BOA comp is tomorrow
at said practice, i pulled a muscle in my hip and i have been limping around ever since
this would normally not be a huge problem, but like 1/4 of our guard will be missing the performance due to injuries & illness (mostly strep throat) so we spent most of today’s morning rehearsal making plans for how to move back drops without them
we legit cannot compete if any more people have to sit out/stay home 😭😭😭
tl;dr : my ass is gonna be limping all over the field at BOA this weekend 💀

This is absolutely disgusting.
I know I haven’t posted in a while, but I need to come on here and say this. I’m not trying to get political, I just want to give you the facts.
AI videos of Taylor Swift were shown online showing her endorsing Donald Trump for president. Taylor lashed back, stating that these AI fakes were disgusting and she would be endorsing Kamala Harris. She encourages her fans to vote and make their voice heard.
Donald Trump claims to hate Taylor Swift, but he seems to be rather obsessed with her. He created knock-off eras tour merchandise (now being sold on his website) about himself. Now, Donald Trump News on Twitter/X states that Taylor lost 150 million dollars in merchandise after endorsing Kamala Harris, which is blatantly false. Taylor is a billionaire, this isn’t an issue for her.
The picture they used in this article is the most troubling, as it is a picture of Taylor after performing “Ronan” at Stand Up To Cancer in 2012. Those images are 12 years old.
If you’re not a Swiftie, Ronan is a song about a young boy who passed away from cancer. His mother reposted this Donald Trump Tweet, fighting back.
My main message of this post is to educate yourself! A large part of my audience is minors, which I understand that you’re not able to vote yet. But for those who can, please do. Educate yourself on candidates and chose who helps yourself and America. Don’t let fake news dictate your choices.
Thank you.

i'm sorry i promise i'll get back to my usual romeposting in a sec but CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE FOURTH OF JULY PARTY?
for me it's the way ronan tells kavinsky "it doesn't have to be this way" and "you don't have to do this" after leaving him in the dust 0.5 seconds ago? not saying he has any obligation to him but come on. don't come here and pretend like you care. are we seriously going to pretend that this was ronan reaching out a feasible olive branch and that kavinsky made the decision to be "bad" anyway? helping someone get out of a situation is not saying a few feeble words when they're at their most extreme mental state. it's giving the popular kid sees the outcast he's bullied attempting suicide and he like says sorry and thinks that last-minute kindness will save the person he's been tormenting the last 3 years or something. NO. kavinsky didn't deserve to die just because he made the decision to "be bad". he made that decision not because he wanted to be "bad," whatever that even means, but because he couldn't find a way out. he was a teenage boy who was all alone with too much power for his own good, and there was no way he could've changed on his own. ronan found a way out because of gansey. he could've served as that figure for kavinsky, could've tried to help him get out, could've been kind to him even once, after all he did to help him, but instead he took the free dreaming lessons and abandoned him. and now he comes and tells him "you don't have to do this." then where were you when it mattered? when you could've actually changed him? where were you when he was all alone with no way out? you were off with your straitlaced, "good," "mentally well" friends. because to you he was something you could "forget," a bad memory or bad experience or shameful period of your life that you could put behind you and never have to confront again. to you he was a part of your low point, so to you he was fundamentally bad and should be destroyed like all other evidence of your low point. he was your narrative foil, and you hated the reminder of what you could have and temporarily did turn into, thinking of him not as a person but a personification of the ugly things inside of you that you wanted desperately to erase. you only wanted him to change when you realized he would keep affecting you. you never wanted to change him. you never wanted to see him change. you never wanted to see him again at all.

Did anyone else read the books City of Ember when they were younger? If you didn’t, this post isn’t for you but feel free to read me talking about it.
I read the first book for my 4th grade class reading, and I loved it so much that I skipped ahead of everyone and then I read the other two books. I was so excited to read the last book until I realized that it wasn’t about Lina and Doon, so I never read it. I shipped Lina and Doon so bad it was the first ship I ever loved. Then I watched the movie and it was ass. Like, Percy Jackson movies level ass. In fact, when I watched the Percy Jackson movies years later, they reminded me of the City of Ember movie. Nonetheless, I was still obsessed with the characters. It was the first movie I saw Soairse Ronan in, and that movie is what comes to my mind when I think of her, not Little Women like for many others. I searched up fanart and since there was none I drew my own. My drawings were so bad but it was all I had. So then I wrote fanfictions. I didn’t even know what fanfiction was, but somehow I got the memo and opened up a google doc and got to writing. It sucked so bad, but I hadn’t discovered ao3 yet. Then in 5th grade, I read keeper of the lost cities and wrote a little series of fics where I added Lina and Doon to the books and they did things with the actual characters of kotlc. Then came Wattpad. I searched so hard for any CoE fanfics but I found none. I got a little desperate, wrote a few more fics. Then in sixth grade I read pjo, and I obsessed over it(I still do) for two whole years. Like, I refused to read anything else. I reread it again last summer at my friends request and now I’m obsessed all over again. But when I originally read the pjo books, I learned about ao3. It reminded me that I never found any CoE fics and I tried again. Sure enough, I found like 8 of them. But most of them were disturbing so it wasn’t even worth it. Anyways, now I don’t think about those books much but every once in a while I remember it and get nostalgic about it. I shipped Lina and Doon so hard, it was like my baseline for how much I ship Percabeth now.

Replaying Tell Me Why and being crushed once again. The fact that whatever memory you chose to believe, one of the siblings is gonna feel bad about it. Either Tyler will have to live with the thought his mom tried to kill him for being trans, either Alyson will have to live with the thought she actually killed her mom for nothing. Either Tyler will think his mom was in fact accepting him for who he was, either Alyson will think she did the right thing and saved her brother. But they can't have both.
I'm so normal about this
Also the way Tyler lied and said he was the one who killed her, because he was a kid and didn't want his sister to get in trouble, but the only result was that he got the therapy he needed and not Alyson. Because they were just kids and didn't know any better, they just thought one of them was going to be in big trouble
I'm so normal about this I'm so normal about this-

I am currently rereading The Raven Cycle and I love the first meeting between the Raven Boys and Blue. Specifically Gansey and Blue - like, I can't explain it but it's just so funny and it sets up their relationship so fucken well. Also, Blue is the only female protagonist I can physically stand, I don't know what it is about her but she is just so well written and actually has a personality for once (hooolly shit). I also like how in book one she isn't this 'super special girl with magical powers that nobody understands not even her parents', she's actually the most normal out of her family (and yet not too normal, so there's no 'but actually you're the most special 'cause you have this') and just has to somehow make it through the day with them. The introduction to the Raven Boys respectively are also so beautiful, like there's Ronan, who immediately comes across as a bastard (and we love him for it); there's Gansey, who quite literally starts as this obsessed scholar of wacky and wonderful things (on a side note, I also enjoy how there was no 'boo, he's cold and snobby and arrogant' for our first look at him, we get the side we all know and love instantly); there's Adam who observes so much and is immediately set as the most responsible and grounded one out of them all (which isn't saying much but it's gorgeous); and there's Noah, who is just so perfectly odd that we find it both endearing and slightly unnerving (in the best way possible, I love him so much). ALSO, Maura is actually a good mother and Blue actually has a good support system/family right from the getgo, which is so lovely and unique and it just NEVER HAPPENS in other books. Like. Ever. In our first glimpse of her, we instantly see Maura caring about her daughter and being just a perfectly written character with her own life (and actual personality). I love this book series, so expect more posts like this. ALSO ALSO, I was reading this book at school and one of my friends said that it was a love story which, although it is, IT'S SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT, and it genuinely upset me that he was brushing it off as this basic bitch ass love story without giving me a chance to explain it to me. This is a beautifully written work of art and one of my friends has slandered it. There are many things that this wonderful series is, but I genuinely don't think you can brush it off as just a love story. Anywhosles, if you managed to read all of this then wow.

Blue and Ronan are definitely the Brotp their friendship is so beautiful but also. Noah and Ronan. That one part in the dream thieves where Ronan makes a joke and is sad Noah wasn't around to hear it. The Gangsey regretting Ronan and Noah ever learning the squash song. Noah excitedly showing Ronan the snow globe. That one scene where Ronan throws Noah out the window. The hinting at their friendship and interactions is amazing I Need more.

band season reflections pt1/?
tw: venting, mental breakdowns, and my potty mouth 🤬
this has been a really rough season for me (and i think, our guard as a whole)
The band directors are pushing us WAY TOO HARD (no shade on our guard coaches tho, we love them & they are trying to help)
people are passing out, throwing up, and having anxiety attacks/panic attacks after practices WEEKLY
AND THEY FUCKING DO NOTHING (again, not guard coaches)
HALF OF THE GUARD IS GOING TO QUIT AFTER THIS SEASON BECAUSE IT’S SO BAD
like, i plan on staying through senior year because I really love guard and i’d feel bad leaving the guard with only 6 people having over a season of experience
BUT UGGGH THE STRESS IS GETTING TO ME
i’ve been having stress breakouts, I don’t eat, i have to do all my homework over lunch, I haven’t had free time to do hobbies or even just scroll through tumblr in the last week, I haven’t had more than 5 hours of sleep per night since FUCKING AUGUST AND IN 2 WEEKS SPEECH SEASON STARTS AND IM NOT FUCKING PREPARED BECAUSE I DON’T HAVE TIME OUTSIDE OF BAND, AND I HAVE FUCKING PANIC ATTACKS AND DISASSOCIATE AT PRACTICE EVERY OTHER WEEK THEN GO HOME AND CRY ABOUT IT IN THE SHOWER
LIKE I KNOW THAT WE WERE STATE CHAMPIONS THE PAST 2 YEARS IN A ROW AND WE ALL WANT THAT AGAIN BUT NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF MY SANITY
this is a goddamn HIGH SCHOOL EXTRACURRICULAR not a fucking job jesus christ
anyway, state is in 9 days and after that i have a week to regain sanity before speech season starts and then goes until march
(if you read all that I actually love you so much!!!, have some boba 🧋🧋🧋)

Okay, you want to talk Ronsey, you better buckle up! (This is going to be long, sorry!)
As the formerly known TRK Anon, I can confidently say that trc is still somewhat fresh in my mind, so I have lots of examples to support my argument. Now, given that I have only read the series once, my character analysis might not be as deep or intense as yours.
If you don't know already, I am a huge Gansey lover/supporter/follower/fan/worshiper/bitch. (Will Patton’s rendition of Gansey drives me absolutely feral!!!!) I have loved him since the very first time we know about his existence (Which is page 15 of TRB). If Gansey is part of the equation, I ship it! Bluesey, Ronsey, Declansey, Adansey, HELL…even Chengsey (I could care less about Henry, so the fact that I acknowledge this ship is a big gesture on my part) I just want to make it clear that I am not an Adansey hater, it's just not my kind of jam (*shrugs*)
I know that what Gansey means to me, Adam is to you. But Adam was tough for me. Like REAL TOUGH to discern. It was not until halfway through TRK (practically when Pynch becomes canon) that I was finally able to appreciate him, to see him eye to eye and say: You ARE knowable. I will give it to Adam, he has the best, most memorable, character growth/development in the entire series (Ronan being a close second). But his stubbornness during TRB/TDT was so unbearable to me. He was such a DICK to Gansey. And yes, there were instances when Gansey deserved it (like the hospital scene) but most of their interactions (at the beginning of the series) are somewhat tense. They are constantly walking on eggshells, afraid to trigger/offend/provoke the other. There are MULTIPLE references to them fighting pre-canon, mostly about money, occasionally about who owns who. The whole DC trip was so stressful for all parties involved. In fact, Adam was so unapproachable that Gansey and Blue kept their relationship a secret because of how difficult he had been back then. (Honestly, I think he would have unalive them both) Plus, he is a hypocrite (I guess we all are) because when the rent thing happens, he goes to Gansey first and throws a fit about it!! But when he finds out that Ronan actually paid his rent, he is “cool” about it. He doesn’t argue with him. He doesn’t feel offended. He just accepts it (it being both the money and the fact). The one thing that really upsets me is Adam wanting the favor for himself. I understand why he wants it, but he knows it is Gansey’s life purpose to find Glendower. It feels like a betrayal, you know? I just cannot stand people being mean to Gansey, it triggers me!!!!
And yes, I get it, there are some good moments between them. Like the call with Mallory when Gansey is trying to make Adam laugh. Or Adam fixing/diagnosing the pig. Or the two of them being ushers on Raven Day. But these moments are so…normal (mundane?) that they don’t feel special.
To me, Adansey is a somewhat “toxic” ship. It is a one-sided relationship, because Gansey gives and gives and Adam refuses to take. Adam practically (and literally) loathes? abhors? despises? everything that Gansey stands for (money, friendship, status, family, you get the gist). How can you possibly love someone that is the poster child of everything you hate?! I think Adansey would be the perfect ship for enemies to friends to lovers.
But Ronsey, oh my dear Ronsey!!!! To me, Ronsey is all about Gansey and Ronan meeting before Niall’s death. The way Gansey describes Ronan before his father’s death is so intoxicating. Gansey mourning the joyful boy that Ronan used to be. Gansey getting emotional over Ronan’s laugh. Gansey being completely and utterly amazed by Ronan’s dream creations (“You incredible creature”). Ronan being unconditionally devoted to Gansey. Ronan being devastated that Gansey has other friends; that Gansey is going to DC with Adam and not him. Ronan and Gansey. Gansey and Ronan. Maybe I am not making any sense right now because my brain convulses just thinking about these two.
They have been through it all. God, there are so many moments pre-canon that I wish we could get to experience. Can you imagine Gansey panicking at the hospital with Ronan’s blood in his hands? Can you imagine Ronan teaching Gansey how to punch?! I can’t remember if canon ever confirms how Gansey acquired his journal, but can you imagine if Ronan bought it for him!?!?!
@singersargentboi said it best: “The thing I love about Ronsey is that even in the books theres this sort of unhinged devotion between them that toes the line at being romantic/sexual.” Let’s unpack this together. Exhibit A) Kavinsky’s substance party. O.M.G. Gansey being such a deranged version of himself that even Ronan cannot stop smiling about it. (“What is it my dog needs?” JUST KILL ME ALREADY) Exhibit B) Ronan dreaming the keys to the Camaro in such a steamy delicate way that I am pretty sure he woke up with a tent in his pants. Exhibit C) Gansey bribing a full-grown adult for Ronan. Exhibit D) Gansey constantly scolding/disciplining/bossing Ronan and somehow stopping the Lynch brothers from killing each other. Exhibit E) Ronan going back home against his dad’s wishes, but still turns to Gansey for comfort (“Can I go and see mom?”) And if all of this does not convince you, I’ll leave you with this: “Gansey was far more of a brother to Ronan than Declan had ever been.”
However, I come to you with a peace offering, a secret third option: RODANSEY. Throughout the series it is constantly noted that 3 is the perfect number for magic ;)
THANK YOU FOR SPILLING YOUR THOUGHTS INTO MY ASK BOX 😍 this is delish and wow a HOT TAKE (to me, a simple woman who will live and die on the hill of adam parrish 🫶) although I understand your grievances from a protect-gansey-at-all-costs point of view! I think you’re right about them having the potential to be a toxic ship because of how much they fight. What’s funny to me is how it seems like they don’t understand each other… yet there’s at least 3 times in TRB alone where they communicate just by looking at each other which is amazing considering from what we know they have only been friends a few years but they’re that close and on that exact same level together. But then… they’re not. I think Adam has just had to rely on himself for so long that he can’t reprogram his brain to think differently, and gansey has had loving parents and a good sibling relationship and intense friendships therefore he can’t even begin to understand adam. They’re on diff planets right? They can’t relate to each other in any way shape or form. But then…. love comes along and makes it work??!??! This is why I’m an adansey girl.
BUT everything you said about ronsey…. That ferocious love I will never ever be over it ever 🥹 unhinged devotion is exactly right. And we all know the when I’m gone dream me the world quote but FOR ME it’s “he couldn’t say it, though. There were a thousand reasons why he couldn’t say it” like???? We were just supposed to move on from that? I can’t I wont.
(side note cuz I gotta defend my boy declan and say he is the best brother ever and I will not expand at this time bc spoilers but the dreamer trilogy will)
Rodansey…… now you’re talking my language. Truce? 🤝 thank u for this ask it’s made my day xx

is this a safe space to admit that I hate Henry Cheng.
like probably more than I've hated any other fictional character that isn't intentionally an antagonist.
FIRST OF ALL. lets just get it out of the way. ill acknowledge im a freak about bluesey so bluechengsey and it's rampantness makes me want to kill myself.
BUT. I just hate that bitch I don't know he feels like a watered down more dickish version of gansey.
Plus the way he was written im not the biggest fan of but its not his fault. I won't hold it against him but it doesn't mean I love him for it either.
idk I feel like he was introduced sort of late and he was so unnecessary.
Plus I just have such a bone to pick that blue actually likes him. her ass isn't going to the next town over with that bitch much less Venezuela. I feel like she was just written to like him because what? he helped her and the group? because hes sort of like gansey?
the thing about gansey and blue is that gansey is the OPPOSITE of what blue would like, and what she THINKS she would like. that's why the transition from her liking Adam to gansey is so significant. Adam is who she's expected to like because hes like her. because its what she thought, too. but gansey has a way of surprising people, sneaking up on them with his goodness.
actually, genuinely liking gansey happens because of the small things that make him him. and it happens pretty slow. she only really finds things she's fond of or interested in about him most of the way through the first book. halfway through the second she's only acknowledging he has a nice mouth and he's one of her raven boys. in the same way that RONAN is (who she is never romantically involved with and only [at least at that point] barely friends with [which makes me upset more Ronan blue scenes!!!!!]) and of course she's starting to harbor romantic feelings for gansey but like. of Course she is. curse and their mutual understanding of wanting to see more and be more and their connections with magic and each other that they're building.
and you expect me to believe Blue starts liking Henry (now I mean this in the way of liking him enough to be friends with him but it can also be interpreted romantically because its even MORE crazy and extreme [IN A BAD WAY] in that sense) after like two times of meeting him and one of those being at a stupid fucking toga party with a bunch of dickheads? Nah. she only went to that and imo only enjoyed herself because of gansey. because that's his effect.
its the things that make gansey gansey that draws blue to him. its his passion about glendower and doing what's right - his whole fucking quest for glendower came to him because he was told it as he was dead/dying/coming back to life, because he felt there was an injustice that his life was given to him while another was unfairly taken. he has this passion that makes him who he is, which is so probably what sets him apart from the freaks at aglionby.
(sidenote - everything about what gansey has experienced makes him the version of himself that he is which is why it's hard to believe he would be the way he is in any other scenario or universe. the things we go through change us, especially when those things include dying and being met with terrifying forces of energy and magic. Helen turned out okay but also she is older than he is and I hate to say it a woman. Not to be a crazy man hater but lets be real I feel like we would all be worse people had we been obscenely rich teenage boys surrounded by the likes of kavinsky and those people. could easily be terrible.)
gansey is imperfect and he fucks up a lot but it's not out of some insistence to be like the other boys he's around. hes just kind of dumb. so intelligent but so dumb. he's rich and he's 70 in a 17 year old body and he's overly friendly and polite and sounds like old money and doesn't really understand anything else. its the way he is and its so GANSEY like there's no other way to describe it. he is gansey and he is so interesting. because of how he hides himself because of how he is a million things at once at how he can not grasp what exactly to do or say but be so understanding because of his kindness because of his passion. that's why blue likes him, that's why basically everybody likes him. and gansey likes everybody, talks to everybody, so he likes and talks to Henry.
but why would the rest of them, ESPECIALLY blue?
Henry is just that watered down, less interesting version of gansey - intelligent but dumb, rich and overly friendly - but without all of the things that make him interesting or good. hes loud and not in a fun way. hes in your face and hes helpful but it doesn't suddenly make him less annoying or more enjoyable to be around. and especially consider the people he surrounds himself with lol. he didn't have a great upbringing (as far as I remember) BUT REMEMBER WHO RAISED ADAM FUCKING PARRISH LIKE BE FOR REAL.
it makes no sense that blue would like him. Like sure hes not a dirtbag like some other raven boys, like kavinsky or anybody. but hes not one of blue's boys.
idk it really irks me when people include him in gangsey OR WORSE replace Noah with him. Grinds my freaking gears. Noah's my guy my boy
but I don't know im in the process of rereading so maybe ill miraculously like him when im reintroduced ( ijbol🤣!).

A Venting Post about Atonement (both book and movie)
tw: discussions of sexual assault
Tumblr media
Briony Tallis is not the super-villain all you guys make her out to be.
Briony Tallis
was
a
CHILD
She was 13 years old when this happens.
A child who was very likely NOT educated about sex or at least was taught that sex is ONLY for marriage and sex outside of marriage was extremely bad. I grew up in the Bible Belt. I was taught sex is only for marriage when I was 13. I was surrounded by people who taught me that sex outside of marriage is default bad. That even thinking sexual thoughts or seeing sexual things are bad. Personally speaking, when I was sexually abused by my cousin when I was very young- I didn't even know what happened at the time.
A child who, like many 13-year-olds, thinks they understand what adulthood is when they don't. Have you ever been around a real 13 year old?
A child with limited info about sex, influenced by the adults around her who are mistrustful of anyone (IE Robbie, IE someone of the lower classes).
A child who wouldn't understand that Celia wasn't being sexually harassed in the fountain and that their sex in the library was consensual.
Here's what y'all say happened: Briony was a conniving little bitch who was jealous of her sister getting with the hot guy she liked so she made an evil scheme where she accused him of raping her cousin, even though she knew he was innocent, out of revenge. Because y'all project onto Celia and Robbie
That's not what happens
Briony Tallis, a child with limited knowledge of sex, thinks she sees her sister get sexually harrassed twice and then assaulted. So when her cousin actually is assaulted (and in the movie, they cast two actors who look similar from the back), she makes the natural conclusion that it's the maniac attacker and that she is going to take measures to help protect her family. She completely believes that Robbie is guilty.
She has no idea he is innocent when she goes to speak to the police. That police were also going to listen to grown adults with a default prejudice to the lower class. Adults that all children are taught to listen to and discouraged from questioning.
She has no idea he is actually innocent until after it is too late.
Should it have happened? No. Was it tragic? Yes.
Perhaps you can argue she is an antagonist, but she is not a villain. But she was just a child who thought she was going to protect her family. In short- SHE. WAS. A. CHILD.
Also- why do you guys call BRIONY the villain, when the book/movie has a character who sexually assaulted an underage girl and then married her as an adult was RIGHT THERE?!?!?
Just admit you project onto Robbie and Celia and let's all admit we as a society hate teenage and young girls and blame them for being vain and stupid and shallow by default. and stop using hating children and especially hating young girls as a personality trait.
