For the SW ask game, 8 and 22!

8. what is one thing you would change about any movie, show, book, etc?

I know one thing but I end up have more. 

I think I would like to tweak ROTS if only to add, foundation of Rebellion, otherwise it’s perfect movie

And for TCW, I would do anything to remove Rako Hardeen arc and The Wrong Jedi arc. The former arc because I don’t vibes with most take I suppose, like I don’t think the idea Obi-Wan’s friends have complicated feeling about the mission is wrong but I think fandom take to make it super uncharitable because there is no understanding in-universe perspective nor people trying to sympathise with the choice with acknowledge they could feel the pain. Also I think the idea people in-universe doesn’t understand duty is a bit underestimating their sense of responsibility hahaha. 

With The Wrong Jedi Arc, I have so many thing to shit on that arc lol I know a lot of people consider it as a good arc but honestly for me this a no-no and I can’t see that arc without being angry. Barriss showed up without preamble on why she fell, we never knew if she ever had any try more peaceful circumstance and people use it to shit on Luminara so that make things worse. The main offender would be the fact that Barriss, a character we saw wearing headdress that resemble hijab and known as gentle and soft, went to radical method immediately as a bomber. It reek Islamophobia, the implication is there and I just like side eyes the creator because where is the sensitivity checker!! That shit is bad!! Very bad takes!!

 BD-1. It used to be my faves lil shit of droid aka R2-D2 but now BD-1 is on top after playing the JFO three times, sorry artoo XD

Always in motion is the future by arrowupmysleeve: (G) I love Obi-Wan inserting himself in Mandalorian business, you love Obi-Wan inserting himself in Mandalorian business - this is a fixit for the whole Galidraan disaster, featuring Padawan!Obi and bestest space buir!Jaster Mereel. It's eventual jangobi, and also a series, and the second part is in progress.

The Weeds in the Wilderness by ealcynn : (T) This one is a WIP as I publish this post, but I still would recommend you give it a go. It has such great worldbuilding, and such an interesting cast of OCs - it's Obi-Wan who doesn't remember who he is, stuck on a planet full of strangers as he tries to remember himself. No ship, just vibes.

For the Right Price by ShaeTiann: (M) This is the Epic. The long read you should try. If you're on the fence about Sith!Obi or Grey!Obi, then I think this fic will probably do a good job at convincing you of the appeal. This is Obi-Wan toeing the line between Light and Dark, making friends, falling in love, making his own path. It's a jangobi masterpiece, who also happens to be a series in progress.

An Elegant Weapon by RomanMoray: (T) Cody wielding a saber. Must I say more? This is codywan, and very dear to my heart. Featuring a Force-sensitive Cody, the inherent eroticism of training your commander in the arts of lightsaber combat, and Cody picking up Obi-Wan's saber - and his heart.

dark magics by savorvrymoment: (E) Oh, so you like both Maul and spicy times? I have just the fic for you: this is a wonderful work, which happened to be my intro into the Obi/Maul rarepair hell. It's got the perfect amount of angst, the perfect amount of tension. Truly perfect.

Don’t be afraid. by spqr: (T) THE FEELS. It's a burgeoning obikin with all the angst, feat. Padawan!Obi and Master!Anakin. Gorgeous, with the fluffy ending we all deserve. A re-read for sure.

i'll orbit your flickering star by sunskippa: (T) If you're looking for a longer codywan read, look no further! This is a great fic that follows the Clone Wars events through the eyes of our dearest Commander, as he falls in love with Obi-Wan. They way Cody is written is lovely: It has no flaw in my eyes.

diogenes (what makes a man?) by someawkwardprose: (T) Codywan, again, because I am in codywan brainrot, always. Also a very, very lovely portrayal of Cody. Also a retelling of the Clone Wars events through Cody's eyes, including his love for his General. I've recently re-read this, and Gods, it's good.

Binary System by Cimila: (E) You know these Open/Ambiguous endings that are somehow both incredibly satisfying and also leaves you just craving some more? Yeah? This is it - Soulmates AU, jangobi, Obi-Wan in the desert with baby!Anakin in tow. It's great. Also Spicy.

Late Night Bounty Call by eltrut07: (E) a/b/o jangobi, anyone? This is a WIP as I'm making this post, but it's being updated still! It's got Omega!Obi and Alpha!Jango hooking up (and falling in love, probably - eventually) during the Clone Wars, and baby Boba being confused. Lovely, lovely - and also spicy.

A Slow Fall Towards Grace: (E) a/b/o, endgame codywan: the angst, the eventual fluff, Obi and his kids. It's rough sometimes, guys, but it ends well.

I read almost 14,5 million words worth of fanfics in 2021 (Most of it Star Wars). That’s a lot. (Embarrasing or impressive? You decide!) I write comments for myself on everything that’s longer than 5k words so I know what I thought of them, what they were called, how long they are etc. As a way to remember them all and honour these fic writers, here’s a list of my favourite ones from 2021. Pebble in a River by @feybarn​ Pairing: Obi-Wan/Jango Fett Status: in progress Words: 121 223 Synopsis: Obi-Wan saw Anakin return to the light then he wakes up in his own 19 year-old-body and has to deal with the possibilities and the responsibilities of changing the fall or the Republic. He leaves the Order, frees Shmi and Anakin, apprentices himself to Jango Fett and on it goes Thoughts: This is pretty phenomenal. This Obi-Wan is very likeable. He’s so kind, so insecure, so clueless with relationships and so wise with the rest. His grief and his hope and his determination and the people who love him for it and those who hate him too, they make this such a pleasure to read. Jango got so damn soft. Slow burn at its best. Shmi is a rock. Anakin is the cutest. The Sith suck. Very good.

Crossed Paths by @romanmoray Pairing: Din Djarin/Cal Kestis Status: complete Words: 41 384 Synopsis: Cal and Din run into each other time and again. A friendship builds. And more Thoughts: the set up and tone of this story was simple, but it was beautifully done. It was slow burn at its best. It felt believable cause it was allowed to take time. They’re very cute together

all the echoes fade by @reedroad Pairing: Luke Skywalker/Ezra Bridger Fandom: Star Wars Status: in progress Words: 286 051 Synopsis: Luke is in a temple in wild space. Ezra’s there too. They both get caught up in force bs, meaning that they now live in the bodies of their counterparts in a universe where Vader is suitless and Padmé lived. Thoughts: this is impressively sprawling. Lots taken from the Thrawn books. Also a very interesting take on Prince Luke’s life. It doesn’t go as one might expect becasue spolier ;). The way the many characters are weaved together is impressive too. Yeah, impressive is a word for this. Also, this story motivaded me into reading a few more of the Thrawn books.

hunting toward heartstill by @blackkatmagic Pairing: Mace Windu/Cody Status: complete Words: 207 217 Synopsis: Plo Koon comes up with a plan to make the clones Republic citizens. Mace must marry Commander Cody. They do, but then they get stuck on a Sith planet and other Jedi uncover the control chips etc Thoughts: this was massive and very engaging. Mace and Cody getting married was utterly hilariously handled and the bits focused on Anakin and Mace was all I could wish for. The clones were wonderfully written too and the way Palpatine was handled was excellent. Thumbs up!

Life has a way of rewriting the story by K_R_Closson Pairing: Obi-Wan/Jango Fett Status: complete Words: 39 193 Synopsis: fem!Obi-Wan doesn’t get to Bandomeer. Her ship crashes on Tatooine. Life’s not easy there, but there are good parts, like Shmi Skywalker and Jango Fett Thoughts: very nice. Very organic. Slow burn in a good way.

(They Were) Made For Us by @who-stole-the-science​ Pairing: Obi-Wan/Cody Status: in progress Words: 27 126 Synopsis: The clones were made for the Jedi. The Jedi were made for the clones. In the Force, each Jedi finds clones that make them feel a lot. The colour is right. The sound is right. The smell is right. To Obi-Wan, Cody is glorious with sunset colours, the taste of tea and a choir in a crescendo. To Anakin, Rex is perfect. Deep blue, ticking like something mechanical. Thoughts: the way this is written gives me life. The colours. The bonds. The reactions. The friendships. The respect. :)))

Unknown Heart by Emrys_Fae, @mneiai​ Pairing: Obi-Wan/Palpatine (Yes you read that right!) Status: in progress Words: 54 807 Synopsis: Obi-Wan gains a new potential soulmate once he’s done with his undercover mission as Hardeen. Darth Sidious it says. He freaks, but keeps quiet. Palpatine sees potential in his mark of General Kenobi and sets out to mold the man into a perfect match. Thoughts: this is so wrong and so delicious. The manipulation is on point. The charactarization and the decent into darkness is electrifying. It’s a pairing that shouldn’t be allowed to be good, but great writers can take rubble and turn it into gold, and it made me search for more of this pairing. It’s so good it brought me way past the point of embaressment.

Death and Beginning by @feybarn​ Pairing: Obi-Wan/Jango Fett Status: complete Words: 20 966 Synopsis: soulmates are not parted by death. If they meet in life, the one that dies first lingers. Only the soulmate can see the spirit. Jango watches over Boba for two years. Then his soulmate appears in the prison where his son is kept. Obi-Wan as Hardeen. Thoughts: this progressed beautifully. Interesting concept and impactful stuff and exciting plot.

A Change of Plans by @feybarn​ Pairing: Obi-Wan/Jango Fett Status: complete Words: 21 882 Synopsis: Obi-Wan spends a night with a man and is asked to look after the man’s kid for a little bit. The man dies and Obi-Wan is settled with the kid permanently. Only, that man was Jango Fett and he faked his death Thoughts: angsty and emotional and cozy mixed together. Liked it a lot

mrfiveohone by DarthDoritos Pairing: Reader/Darth Vader Status: complete Words: 70 819 Synopsis: reader tries to find someone to chat with, and the first connection she makes with someone worth talking to is mrfiveohfirst aka Vader Thoughts: holy sith balls. What a ride. It was very funny as long as the dramatic irony of the reader not knowing went on. Then it was angst and sweet and then it took a fucking turn! I was devastated. It’s so tragic. Vader’s such a sad character when you think of it and  in this story he’s still so young. only 28-29. Baby Vader :( The body horror was excellent too

All below works are completed (or at least have several completed works in series) and most of them are canon-divergent fix-its.  I think there’s a good chunk of implied or referenced Blyla in more than half of them as well, which I know is your jam! :) This is by no means a complete list of good fics, or listed in any particular order, just a few that I think you’d enjoy!

Armed barnacles against stubborn Negotiator (922 words) by Gabriel4Sam - a short canon-divergent AU wherein everybody survives the war and then the clones desert en masse to hole up inside the cloning facility on Kamino.

 in our hearts some ancient song (40535 words) by whimsicalimages - a canon-divergent AU wherein Cody, not Rex, is the first one to find Fives after Tup dies and Fives discovers the truth. 

 Ventress' Family (25041 words) by kitkatkaylie - a WAFF canon-divergent AU wherein Ventress decides that family takes precedence over war, whether that refers to the war between the Republic and the CIS, or the war between the Sith and the Jedi.  Very fluffy and not at all serious, just what you need as a palate cleanser between darker fics!

In Your Hands Hold The World (2382 words) by alyyks - a short but intense post-66 fic, wherin Cody’s chip stops working years down the line. Very introspective.

An Elegant Weapon (22316 words) by romanmoray - canon-adjacent until the last chapter. Each of the 9 chapters corresponds to one of the 9 lightsaber forms, which Obi-Wan is teaching to Cody since his commander keeps picking up his missing lightsaber off the field anyway.

Children of Hope and Glory (Series) (29 works, 135328 words) by mageofcole - cis!girl!Obi-Wan AU, with a mostly canon-adjacent plot up to the middle of Star Wars Rebels.  I hardly even ready genderflips, but this one was too good to pass up for me.

Take from Us This Tragedy (24016 words) by rangerjedi67 - canon-divergent AU wherin Cody pulls a Tup but is stopped before he can kill his Jedi, leading to a different chain of events.

A Rather Short Fic Rec List

I have far too many fics that I love. But, I thought I would share just a few with you all. I managed to split them into two (2) categories and there are eleven (11) fics total.

NOTE: The first five (5) have no main pairings, the second set of six (6) will all be Codywan but will not be NSFW in any way. I also don’t know how to express my love for fics in writing, so please have just the summaries lol.

Gen. Fics

Ensuring The Future by Shouting_at_God_in_Latin:  What if Obi-Wan had to learn how to keep his consciousness after death before the Clone Wars were over? What if it was either learn or forfeit the Light side of the force for good? When both Yoda and Darth Sidious have a vision of the future, both send reinforcements to Cato Neimoidia. One fleet is sent to kill Obi-Wan Kenobi, the other is to save his life. The fate of the Light requires Obi-Wan to stay alive until years after the end of the Clone Wars, but can he even survive Cato Neimoidia

The Significance of Found Family by @stolen-pen-name23 : (uh the summary looked terrible here so I cut out the dialogue part and just put the small summary sorry dear)  Obi-wan Kenobi and a roughly 17-year-old Anakin Skywalker crash land on a planet unknown to them both. The truth of Obi-wan Kenobi's past comes to light.

In The Waiting by @stolen-pen-name23 : Obi-Wan finds himself waiting around for Anakin a lot throughout his Padawanship and through the Clone Wars, but he knows Anakin would do the same for him. OR five times Obi-Wan waits for Anakin and the one time Anakin waits for Obi-Wan.

The Past Remains by otherhawk:  The war drags on leaving trauma and destruction in its wake. After a bereaved Master is accused of harming his padawan, Obi-Wan is sent to talk to her, dredging up memories of his own past.

The Fallout of Anakin Skywalker’s Knighting by anecdotalist:  Anakin is Knighted and decides to give his Padawan braid to Padmé instead of to Obi-Wan after his Knighting. Then he learns that there's a lot more meaning to that Tradition than he had realized but is it too late to fix things with Obi-Wan?

Scales and Fins by @reydjarinkenobi:  Cody had always known that his general was not quite human. But he'd never imagined that his biology was quite so... aquatic.

Golden Shield of Brightness by @nerjetii: Obi-Wan had always known that he was destined to have two soulmates. A platonic one – name scribbled on his left wrist. A romantic one – name delicately curved around his right wrist. Or: A journey through Obi-Wan's life as he finds not just one, but both his soulmates, fights in a war, and gets the happy ending he never thought he would get.

Foreign Affairs by @romanmoray: Sir Obi-Wan Kenobi, the British Minister for the European Neighborhood and the Americas, and his assistant Anakin Skywalker travel to New York City for a conference, and his coworkers insist that he have bodyguards. Enter poor Cody Fett, an ex-navy commander who is about to get dragged into some political nonsense.

First Responses by @glimmerglanger: Obi-Wan saw accidents most every day. He’d grown used to assessing collisions with a clear head, taking them apart like a puzzle. Twisted metal and spilled fuel were only distractions, there to get in the way of his job, which was, at the end of the day, doing his best to make sure everyone involved walked away alive and as well as possible. He knew the best way to open a crushed door on an old pick-up. In fact, he considered, panting up at the ceiling, trying to think around the crowding, noisy pain in his head, he wouldn’t try to take the door in this situation. OR, the one where Obi-Wan gets in a truck accident, and Cody shows up to help.

Tiny Dots, Burning Bright by @ewanmcgregorismyhomeboy12:  Obi-Wan Kenobi has very nearly give up on the idea of romantic love. Until he meets a lovely man: The kind who remembers your sandwich order and the illegal observatory your father tried to build, and complements the green sweater you need to stop wearing on first dates...

Summary: Between the bloody, gut-wrenching mash-up of memories bombarding Cody as he slept, he dreamed that he was visited by the ethereal, looming form of General Kenobi.

It wasn't the same General Kenobi that he remembered, though. His wavy auburn hair was longer than it had ever gotten in life, long enough to tie into a tail, and streaked with swathes of gray at his temples. Two long strands fell forward into his face as he looked down at Cody, in his iconic 'mulling-over-a-plan-that-Cody-won't-like' pose, stroking his short beard with one hand. His face was more lined, but he didn't look old. He didn't know if General Kenobi was capable of looking old.
