Maximising Performance: How to Choose the Perfect Rollerblade Skates
The quest for the perfect rollerblade skates can be a daunting one. With so many options available in the market, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and unsure of where to start.
The right pair of skates for adults in Australia can significantly enhance your performance and enjoyment while gliding through the streets or zooming down the park. But how do you navigate through the sea of choices to find the ideal fit for you?
In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the intricacies of choosing rollerblade skates that not only suit your style but also maximise your performance on wheels.
Factors to Consider When Choosing Rollerblade Skates
When embarking on the exhilarating journey of choosing rollerblade skates, there are various crucial factors to take into account. Firstly, it is essential to consider your skill level and intended use. Are you a beginner seeking comfort and stability, or an experienced skater yearning for speed and maneuverability? This distinction will guide you towards the appropriate skate style.
Secondly, pay close attention to the fit of the rollerblade skate. A snug yet comfortable fit is vital for optimal performance. A loose boot may impede control and cause discomfort, while a tight one can lead to restricted movement and potential injuries. Ensure that your chosen skate provides proper ankle support without sacrificing flexibility.
Lastly, consider your budget when selecting rollerblade skates. While it may be tempting to splurge on high-end models boasting advanced features, there are often affordable options that offer outstanding performance.
Choosing the Right Boot Style
When it comes to maximising performance on roller blades Australia, selecting the perfect boot style is crucial. The right boot should provide a comfortable and secure fit, allowing for precise control and maneuverability. There are various boot styles to choose from, each catering to different skating disciplines and levels of expertise.
For beginners or those seeking recreational skating, a soft boot style is ideal. These boots offer excellent comfort and flexibility, allowing skaters to enjoy their time on wheels without sacrificing support. Additionally, soft boots often come with adjustable closures such as buckles or laces, providing a customisable fit for enhanced comfort and stability.
Intermediate and advanced skaters may prefer a hybrid or hard shell boot style. Hybrid boots combine the best qualities of both soft and hard shell boots, offering a balance between comfort and responsiveness. On the other hand, hard shell boots prioritise stability and performance through their rigid construction. With advanced features like heat-moldable liners that conform to your foot shape over time, these boots ensure optimum power transfer for an exhilarating skating experience.
Evaluating Boot Materials and Construction
The selection of boot materials plays a significant role in enhancing the overall performance and durability of rollerblade skates. Manufacturers employ a variety of materials, each with its own unique characteristics.
Advanced composite materials like carbon fiber offer exceptional stiffness and lightness, providing skaters with enhanced power transfer and responsiveness on the road or track. Additionally, these high-performance materials ensure greater longevity, allowing skaters to enjoy their favorite activity for years to come.
Examining Wheel Types and Sizes
Wheel type and size play a crucial role in the performance of rollerblade skates. Different wheel types offer varied characteristics, each catering to specific skating styles. For instance, hard wheels are perfect for outdoor use as they provide durability and faster speeds, while soft wheels offer better grip and control for indoor or smooth surfaces.
It's important to consider your skating preferences and the terrain you'll be traversing to make an informed choice.
Understanding Bearing Systems
The bearing system of rollerblade skaters plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient ride. These small but mighty components are responsible for reducing friction and allowing the wheels to rotate freely. A high-quality bearing system can significantly enhance your skating experience, enabling you to glide effortlessly along the pavement.
When it comes to bearings, there are various factors to consider. One important aspect is the ABEC rating, which indicates the precision and quality of the bearings. Higher ABEC ratings, such as 9 or 11, generally denote smoother and more reliable performance. However, it's essential to note that ABEC ratings primarily pertain to industrial applications and may not have a significant impact on recreational rollerblading.
Looking at Additional Features and Accessories
When it comes to rollerblade skates, there are several additional features and accessories that can enhance your skating experience.
One such feature is the brake system. A well-designed brake can provide you with optimal control and safety while gliding along the pavement. Look for a brake that is easy to engage and disengage, ensuring seamless transitions between speed and stopping.
Conclusion
In conclusion, by carefully considering the factors outlined in this article, you can embark on a rollerblade skating journey that is both exhilarating and rewarding. Remember, the choice of roller blades Australia is a personal one, and finding the perfect pair may require some trial and error. But with patience and perseverance, you will discover skates that not only fit like a glove but also enhance your performance on every glide.

💃🏼 Spring Dancing
oscar + "just keep on keeping your eyes on me"
Against popular belief, Oscar is not a born natural at everything. Especially ice skating.
In his defense: he is from Australia, and there is not much ice skating happening on the regular.
"OK, just keep going one foot after the other. It's just like inliner starting. It's the same movement." Oscar just laughs dryly, still holding onto his girlfriend, who is skating in front of him backward, for his dear live. "It's easy for you to say. But inliners do not feel that slippery. You usually don't feel like falling on your face just because you take a big breath. I probably look like a newborn giraffe learning how to walk, but all of my hoves are bound to roller skates."
(Y/N) rolls her eyes at his antics. She didn't expect him to get onto that frozen lake and start to skate in her brother's skates perfectly. But Oscar himself did. I mean, he is a high performing athlete. Why is his own balance his greatest enemy right now?
After another slip up that nearly ends with the Aussie falling face forward, if it isn't it for (Y/N)'s death grip onto his forearms.
"You need to stop booking down on your feet. Just bend your knees lightly and keep on looking at me." With these instructions, Oscar finally is able to take a couple strikes without struggling too much. "See? You are able to do this, and we have all the winter break to teach you even more."
Oscar just smiles at her and states into her open arms before peppering her cold face with kisses.

*peeks from behind a corner* this might be a bit of a dumb question- but what is starlight express? (except the fact it's a musical, i think)
NOT A DUMB QUESTION AT ALL OH MY GOSH . trust me i have been WAITING to talk about it to ppl who don’t know what it is !!!!! i’ll explain the pre-2018 bochum version since it’s the one that i’ve fully watched through but characters (and a bit of story) change in future/past productions !
OK OK so starlight express is an alw musical abt trains. it was first performed in london in 1984 iirc. and it’s been performed in a theatre specifically built for the show in germany since 1988! it also currently has a london revival being performed! there’s been several different tours to places like the us and australia + asia
it takes place in a child’s imagination and it focuses mainly on a steam train called rusty!! (all the trains are people on roller skates :3)
rusty wants to compete in the big race with pearl, a first class/observation car and the newest coach! (the coaches consist of: pearl, dinah, ashley, and buffy) rusty gets bullied by most of the other trains, they tell him that he can’t race because he’s steam and steam is outdated
the main villains are electra (the electric engine), greaseball (the diesel engine), and cb/caboose (the red caboose)
ummm umm not sure what else to say without just telling the whole story. uhh in the london revival electra is nonbinary (they’ve been queer coded for like. YEARS) and dinah+greaseball are sapphics. if u have any specific questions then PLEASE ask bc i am more than happy to talk about it

while the costumes in this production look quite different than current replica designs, they were actually created by London production costume designers, and were the standard London costumes at that time. the most unique aspect of this production is that Jemima doesn’t sing with Grizabella in Memory, rather it’s Grizabella’s younger self!

NQOMT 2019
this production was set in a post-apocalyptic London, featuring a set overgrown with moss and vines. the all-new costumes are described as “waste-lander,” as they are “made of things the Cats have collected through their life, as though they’re wearing their memories.”
Harvest Rain 2014
this was the largest production of CATS ever performed, with a cast of over 800, each dressed in their own unique costume (even the orchestra)! the show was staged in a convention centre, with a raised center platform for the main performers with the ensemble dancing around it.

Could you give me a recap on the David lore because I forgor :’(
Oh boy that’s a loooong question (also rather comical and foreshadowing) /pos
Ok I’ll give ya all the David lore I have. I’ll go in timeline and say where the main two aus diverge as both aus have the same start.
David Evans was born in Australia (10th of October, 1956) after their parents had moved from Wales 11 years previously. Growing up he was the only ‘girl’ out of the kids and his parents were unfortunately rather misogynistic and so treated him poorly. His mother was mother the verbal abuse kind while his father was physically agressive. His three brothers (well one ended up transitioning later but i’ll keep it simple) who were about 9-8 years older than him were mostly good siblings (excluding his oldest brother who mostly mimicked their dad and was a general asshole).
(Somewhere in the childhood part David sees the Beatles perform on their famous Ed Sullivan show appearance and he became obsessed with them. This obsession continues on for the rest of his life)
He started transitioning in his late teens and his parents were wholeheartedly supportive of it as they just really didn’t want to have a daughter. David’s sister unfortunately didn’t get the same love when she transitioned and was shunned by their parents and older brother (also the youngest brother ended up dying at the age of 12 from drowning I think).
Anyways so David gets an extreme interest in mechanics and engineering and purses a course in it.
Now this is where timelines diverge and I’m gonna use colour coded text to tell ya which au the info is from. Red = Canon AU, Purple = Non-Canon AU
David fails the course and gets a job as a janitor at the local Freddy Fazbenders. While he works there he falls in love with a dayshift worker named Toby, they start dating until everyone’s favourite Tangerine and Aubergine show up at the location. They start causing chaos and eventually rig the suit to go off and due to neither of them showing up David is forced to wear the suit by their boss. He dies and is sent to the factory to become a phone guy (at the age of 29). (While at the factory an employee there glues roller skates to David’s feet so they’re permanently stuck there.)
He starts working back at Freddy’s, seeing Toby but not knowing who he is, Toby doesn’t realise at first either. But as soon as he does he ends up being fired.
David works at the location for a few years before being sent back to the factory to wait until he’s needed.
This results in him working for Mr J (the same Tangerine from earlier(the best way to describe Mr J is that he’s more like the business Jack in dsaf 3, more caring for money then people.) and he is just the worst boss. The only good thing he does is giving David his alive name back to him but doesn’t actually let him use it in public. He abuses David verbally and physically, poor dude is just covered in bruises, tiny cuts and burn marks from Mr J’s taser as well as his skeleton just having so many fractures and improperly healed breaks. (Funfact cause this whole thing takes place in Australia, healthcare is free so Mr J could let David go to hospital for 0 charge but he doesn’t.) Mr J just continues to make him work like that.
Due to the phoney process David’s body can no longer age, permanently frozen at the age he died. He’s mostly immortal because of that.
During the time when his partner Toby was firstly fired a child randomly spawned in the house he and David had been living in and so Toby just started raisin them as his kid (Jay).
Long story short of that part after David leaves freddys (due to a complicated cross-over event) he goes to find Toby only to find Jay living there as a fully grown adult with his own (adopted kid) and to learn that Toby had died a while ago in a car crash.
David starts living with his family and starts to notice that immortality thing as he watches his son and granddaughter growing older but he doesn’t seem to change. It finally clicks in his head when his son dies (natural causes) and he stays as close to his granddaughter and her kids as he can, not wanting to loose them.
He slowly starts to disassociate and becomes a but reclusive, the only thing he still has is a dog named Parasite (complicated au cross-over event that carried over to the canon. Basically Parasite used to be a clone of mr j but he got turned into a small lil mutant doggo and mellowed out, becoming David’s therapy dog)
David does get to meet all his descendants though and he tries to be as loving and caring to them as his was to his son and granddaughter.
Ok finally time for the other one!
So this time around David passes the course and gets a job at Freddys as a technician. While he works there he falls in love with a man named Toby (same one as before).
David ends up starting to work for Afton Robotics and works his way up in the company.
One day a child spawns inside their home (Jay, yes he just spawns because its just funnier), David notices how Jay looks identical to how he looked as a kid so they both decide to keep and raise them.
A few years later Toby passes away in a car accident leaving David alone to raise Jay while still workin at Afton Robotics. He does his best and tries to make things work around raising Jay and still making sure the company doesn’t fall behind on things (as by this point the original owner and operator of Afton Robotics had been revealed to be a fraud and was sent to prison, David being basically in second command basically became the new owner and operator). Two years after Toby’s death David starts dating again and falls in love with a dude named Joia. They date for about 3 years before getting married. (David is 40 when he marries Joia)
Blah blah wholesome cute family stuff with raising Jay and Jay eventually going and adopting a daughter (Moon).
David is 59 and Joia is 57 when Jay adopts Moon and they continue to be a happy family together.
At the age of 67 David starts to notice his slipping memory and general recall issues and so he and Joia end up going to the doctors about it, they come back finding out that David is in the early stages of dementia. As the years go on he starts to be affected more and more by the dementia, loosing memories and the ability to walk, not wanting to talk, sleeping more and more, being easily confused at where he is and who his family is.
Joia stays by David through it, slowly watching his husband fade away. Jay and Moon both visit frequently to check in on them and spend time with them.
David eventually is taken into the hospital as Joia was informed he only likely had a week left. By this point David has no idea who Joia, Jay or Moon are. To him its just a room of strangers.
The last day he ends up getting his memories back for a short while (something that does rarely happen with dementia irl) and he gets to give a proper goodbye to his family. Joia holds his hand and kisses him one last time on the cheek before David falls asleep again. He sleep for about 30 minutes, his breathing getting slower and slower until he forgets how to breathe and dies at age 85
(And because my friends didn’t want it to be that sad heres the extra part)
David becomes a ghost, regaining all his memories, staying with Joia as he just couldn’t bare to leave him behind. Joia can’t see or hear him, he doesn’t even know he’s there but he does talk to himself sometimes in a way thats meant to be a conversation with David. David answers but yk he can’t be heard by Joia.
About 6 years later Joia also passes away and they are reunited in the afterlife to spend eternity together.
So there you go, all the David lore you could ask for!

”in the melb australia show, they had a line and would write a number on your hand so that nobody could push infront of you, and u could go bathroom and stuff without losing your spot. but people would get there at 10am, get number 10 or something and then go home for the rest of the day and show up again at 6 and reclaim their spot. what do you american fans think about this? cause i felt it was a bit unfair as someone who travelled hours to get there early and couldn’t go home and keep my spot as i lived in another state”
uh, go back to the hotel? If you didn’t get a hotel, go explore the city, go to shops, go to a museum, go to the park, go do an escape room, go to a record store, a book store, check out local art, go roller skating, go bowling, go see a movie, do a Segway tour, a walking tour, a bike tour…. There are literally hundreds of things you could have done, taking advantage of being in a different city, but instead you’re going to complain. Hate to break it to ya sweetheart, but life ain’t fair and that victim mentality is going to get you no where except miserable.

Another question list for you then since you like them :D
Ever done anything with woodcarving or wood working?
What’s your most exciting wilderness find (cool rock, rare insect, brick of coke, etc.)?
Not a question, I just finished reading your dni and I refuse to believe Australians call thongs bum floss.
Speaking of your dni, you have 62 listed. How many do you think your average follower breaks? (I have a score of 45.5/62)
Would you be so kind as to expand on your feelings about shaved eyebrows?
Can you roller skate or rollerblade?
What’s your favorite Mexican food?
-🐑
I love them.
Ever done anything with woodcarving or woodworking?
Both. I whittle sometimes. And in high school I used my dad's wood lathe to make bowls and shit... I miss whittling actually. I should find my chisels.
What's your most exciting wilderness find?
Buck with antlers. It's cool, I've still got it.
Not a question, I just finished reading your DNI and I refuse to believe Australians call thongs "bum floss".
We do to avoid confusing them with thongs (sandals).
Speaking of your DNI, you have 62 listed. How many do you think your average follower breaks? (I have a score of 45.5/62.)
I have no idea. Probably quite a few... Reckon anywhere from 10-20 for averages.
Would you be so kind as to expand on your feelings about shaved eyebrows?
They freak me the fuck out. I'm autistic, reading facial expressions is already very hard for me, no eyebrows to make facial expressions clear makes that even harder for me and freak me out cuz I can't look for any kinda micromovements to determine what they're thinking or if I need to shut up or something.
Can you rollerskate or rollerblade?
I've never been good with inline skates like rollerblades (except ice skates--I'm good at ice skating) but I'm good on rollerskates. When I worked as a bellhop at Sonic as a teenager, I worked on skates!
What's your favourite Mexican food?
I don't eat much Mexican food--it's not that popular in Australia. Really it's just tacos, burritos, and nachos. I like tacos the most. Always down for tacos. Only hard-shell though--tortillas kill me texture-wise (unless my sister-in-law makes them)...

The impala inline skates are a great way to get around. They’re also a good choice for people who want to stay fit, and they can be used as an alternative form of exercise if you have trouble finding time to run or go running.
If you want to become more active, consider buying skates that are appropriate for your feet. Tips to Consider When Choosing Roller Skates
Consider the size of your feet.
Consider the weight of your body and how it will affect the skate’s performance, especially if you plan to practice tricks or use it for long periods at a time (such as skating in public).
Skate wheels should be heavy enough that they don’t come off easily, but not . So, heavy that they are difficult to manoeuvre around obstacles on uneven surfaces like rocks or stairs.
Think about what type of terrain you will be skating on: flat pavement or hills? Will there be snow and ice involved? The weight of your skates will determine how easy it is for them to move forward when needed, which can make all the difference when trying out new tricks.

Also featuring an unbelievably rad variant cover from one of my favourite cartoonists: Juni Ba! 😍😍😍

hi i've realized that ur really into starlight express but im having trouble actually figuring out what that is, is it fine if like you explain? is it from a play/musical..?
Totally fine!
Starlight Express is an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical about Trains (the characters are all trains, hence the roller skates), first opening in 1984 at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. Since then its had several productions: tours in the US, UK, Japan/Australia, some Non-Replica, etc. Presently, the show continues to run in Bochum, Germany at the Starlight Express Theatre (special made for the production's Race events.) Fun Fact: The Bochum production is Germany's longest running musical (opening in 1988 and still being performed today) and was awarded the Guinness World Record for the most visitors to a musical in a single theatre (13,044,148) on March 8th, 2010.
Over the years its had changes to the costumes, songs used, and plot points. However the story and characters have largely stayed the same!
(copy/pasted from this earlier post i made) The general story -- Which in the show's context takes place in a child's, referred to as Control, dream-- of it is an underdog steam shunter, Rusty, wanting to race in and win the championship race to prove his worth, steam-power worth, and impress this girl he likes. However, things aren’t that simple, having to not only race against the reigning champion diesel engine and five national engines, but also an unexpected superstar electric engine. Along with a few other twists.
I personally adore the music and costumes (though those have had Issues in the past.) and highly suggest giving the Original London Cast recording album a listen! Like I said the story events change a bit from each production, so I would recommend reading the wiki synopsis of it for more details.
Here are three mega mixes (show ending song) from the bochum productions (in English, 2017) (In German, 2018) (In German, 2021)
here's some gif sets i've made of various productions (link) (link) (link)

Was tagged by @thesaintofanarchy and I'm literally buzzing with excitement because of it
1). Are you named after anyone?
No.
2). When was the last time you cried?
Watched the Banshee of Inisherin this morning so… this morning.
3). Do you have any kids?
Nope. And truthfully I don’t think I ever will.
4). Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Yea kinda… I got an aussie sense of humour where I'll blatantly lie to your face about the dumbest, most harmless thing just to see if you’d fall for it.
5). What's the first thing you notice about people?
How they dress and carry themselves. I have a theory that people are either a pigeon or a seagull.
6). What's your eye colour?
Blue :)
7). Scary movies or happy endings?
Both! To quote @thesaintofanarchy directly “Depends on the day, the weather, the horoscope.”
Today my horoscope is recommending a romance? Who am I to deny hmm?
8). Any special talents?
I’m a dog whisperer. True fact. (it’s not a true fact).
9). Where were you born?
Australia :D
10). What are your hobbies?
I’m a big knitter! Cannot crochet for my dear little life. But I also rollerskate and run.

12). Sports that you play/played?
I used to do competitive inline races and for about a year roller hockey in high school, recently I’ve switched to skates tho and prefer to run drills rather than go fast. It’s been a while since i’ve been to a rink tho so it may come out of me again who knows.
13). How tall are you?
5” Don’t even mention it.
14). Favourite subject in school?
In high school it was actually geography. Because I was boring and writing those essays were easy!

Until my dying day, to be a production manager for an animation/vfx studio.
And so now I pass the baton on if y'all would like to play as well, take my tags with love <3 @lylesx @southernbluebellereader
