I messed up my knees skating last week and they're still this bad. I've even done a salt bath and they're still this swollen and discolored.

Any tips?

(P.S. I'm actually really good at roller skating, I just messed up learning a new trick and hit the floor and walls three times 😅)

Boxer!Jason who shouldn’t be thinking too hard about it but seeing you with a scrape on your knee and a bruise on your knuckles drives him feral. You just started going to roller derby again, it was something you did when you were younger but you didn’t have a lot to time for it. Until now.

Boxer!Jason who sees how well your cuts and scrapes heal and goes immediately to you for stitching or loving after he wins a pretty rough fight. He likes how attentive you are to each one of his bruises or cuts.

Boxer!Jason who most definitely has a hard on when he gets to see you in action. Just knocking people around and seeing you throw your body into the sport.

Boxer!Jason who acts like your bodyguard when someone lands an illegal hit on you. He stands from his seat in the stands and is trying to check you over from over six feet away.

So a while ago I saw a post with the coolest vintage tshirt and I instantly fell in love and decided I needed it in my life:

I searched REALLY hard for the original copyright holder to see if I could buy one, including digging up the original source of the image (the Lesbian Herstory Archives) to find out that WMP stands for WomanMade Products, and eventually stumbled across a feminist bookstore with the same name. I called expecting to get the runaround for a week and then be told they couldn’t find the creator, but she actually picked up the phone herself! Becky Bly has been in business since 1976, created this design in the early 80s, and said as long as I wasn’t selling it, I could reproduce it!

I ended up having to redraw it by hand because the original scan was skewed (there was much wailing) and got to work. Ignore how sloppy the pattern is, I fixed most of it while stitching.

I then immediately put it down and forgot about it for weeks until I realized Pride was right around the corner and frantically picked it back up. I took it with me to a roller derby match to work on during the breaks and ladies, if you haul out embroidery that says “dyke” on it at roller derby, you will IMMEDIATELY have lots of queer women talking to you. This has been Ari’s Top Tips.

I then forgot about it for another week and a half until I realized Pride was in two days and started sewing as fast as I possibly could, bruising my finger where I braced the needle. I finished it at 1:30 am the night before Pride:

This is the best thing I’ve ever done. I am obsessed with it and keep staring at it. Everyone at Pride thought it was amazing and I got SO many compliments that went straight to my head. One person at temple asked if they could commission me to make one for them and I got to say “sorry :( I only got permission to make it for myself :(” instead of “the amount of labor that went into this is going to COST you, I don’t think you want to pay that much.”

I BEG, the gang with a crush in roller derby? Like crush carries skates around all the time, crush always has bruises on their legs, crush wins almost every match and goes bummed out when they don't. Just some derby stuff!!

Summary: The Outsiders x Roller Derby! Reader Warnings: none Authors Note: Is this my sign to get into roller derby PONYBOY has no clue what roller derby is. He didn't even know you did a sport until a few months into knowing you. He'd always notice the bruises and bandages on your legs and once he asked he was even more confused. You have to explain to him what roller derby is, basically step by step. He's always a little worried for you, asking you to wear kneepads and other sorts of protective gear when you go to play a match. He'll always treat you to ice cream after you win too! JOHNNY knows what roller derby is because every night a couple of girls skate past his house and when he was young he used to watch them go by. He think's its an admirable sport to get into, considering how bruised and battered you can get. He doesn't really like going to your matches because something about floor burns and seeing you get hurt just twists his stomach. Nevertheless, he'll wait outside for you, hugging you even if you didn't win. He will probably never try rollerblading with you, but maybe skateboarding if you ask nicely. SODAPOP actually used to watch rollerderby. It was always when he was surfing channels and drunk off of a couple of beers, but he enjoyed it nonetheless. He loves watching your games and get really rowdy at them. He's got so much spirit you'd think it was a superbowl game. Soda wants to try skates but he's not sure how he would fair, so he's fine just walking with you. He's definetly telling all the gang members that his girlfriend can solo all of their girlfriends because you're so incredibly strong to him. STEVE thinks rollerderby is the tuffest thing a girl can do. He's so into it and he thinks the bruises and bandages just make you look like a really cool greaser. He actually skateboards, so everytime you go out to skate he's coming with you. He thinks your games are the most entertaining things to watch and he's thinking about getting a rollerskate tattoo on his other arm. He knows your whole team by both their game name and by their real name and he fits in perfectly with them. TWO BIT thinks what you're doing is incredibly dangerous. He'll remind you every once and a while but he'll never act on it because he loves watching you skate and be happy just as much are you like skating. He wants you to teach his sister how to skate so she can get to school easier and he bought her and you a pair of matching hot pink ones after saving up enough money. He's actually a little intimidated by you because he thinks that you're actually stronger than him. DARRY hates you doing rollerderby. Not because he doesn't want you to be happy or anything, but he sees how much pain it can cause you and he gets frustrated that you're so carefree. He'll never try to pull you from the game though, and when you lose he'll list everything you did well even though it sort of hurt him to watch. He's always attending to your wounds and making sure you're not in more pain that you need to be. DALLAS thinks you're probably the tuffest chick in Tulsa. He watches you practice when he walks by and tries to stop in on some of your games. He's always there when you win, or he tries to get a recap of what happened. The rest of the gang just think he's being weird about a new sport but they're starting to get a clue that he likes you because all he talks about when he gets tipsy is how you massacred your competition in a game once. He'll NEVER pick up skating though. He thinks rollerskates are for girls, (he's fallen down when he was a kid and never got back on them).

Well, first you had to explain to Donnie what roller derby is. Though he may be a genius, he has not spent a lot of time on understanding sports. Well, other than martial arts and basketball. So for once, Donnie would actually be kind of blank on the topic.

Once he knew what it was, he would stocked. His girlfriend does roller derby? Bro, that’s so fucking cool!

He will even get into it, just for your sake, getting to know the rules. A deep dive onto the internet, before letting you know everything he had learned. Not that it wasn’t things you knew already, but you would let him talk. You were happy that he found an interest in what you did, and he was happy to show you he showed interest.

Donnie has always liked your strong limbs. Especially your lower half. Not to be crude or anything but, damn. Those were firm as fuck! He would let those legs choke him! But your strength also made it a little more fun to spare with you. Not that he would make it hard for you at all, but he did enjoy you pushing back a little, and giving him a small challenge.

But the bruises he did not like. No no. Especially not when he realized how many you would get. There was this one time you came down to the lair, directly from a roller derby, and Donnie was more than shocked to find a large bruise on your leg. It took some time to convince him that you were in fact okay, and that this was normal, although bigger than what you were used to be. But even then, Donnie needed a moment to calm down.

Donnie will try to make it to your roller derbies, hiding somewhere in the shadows where no one can see him. Only you know that he is here. And afterwards he would yell and scream about how good you were, making you smile and blush like never before.

Donnie would probably play around with your rollerskates when you weren’t looking. He wouldn’t put them on. Well, he couldn’t even if he tried, but it wasn’t uncommon for him to play with the wheels and make them spin.

Sure!!

A new roller rink is opened in the east side of town and it becomes a pretty popular hangout spot for the greasers. Before there was only the one uptown, but no one really went there that often because it was a soc hangout (and tbh most of the gang's probably been kicked out). So the gang was OVER THE MOON when they saw it being built :)

So Johnny and Ponyboy skated for the very first time on the opening day and they were so confused (Johnny almost fell facedown on the carpet putting them ON). Darry offered to get them those walker things, but Pony rejected them because they were "too babyish 😡" (fifteen minutes and countless bruises later he begrudgingly changed his mind lol). But they kept going and with the help of the older guys they got a lot better!

I think Ponyboy's fav part of roller skating is just. zoning out while he skates to the music <3 (and for Johnny it's the same. They can go for literally hours and just. NOT notice)

Also. Since Ponyboy's a hater he WILL push Johnny down. But he always regrets it tenfold because Johnny does NOT hold back (and it always ends in one of their famous fights 😭)

Two-bit and Dally are the best at it. Like scarily good (Two even has his own pair of roller blades with a shitty silhouette of Mickey Mouse painted on the side).

Two-bit actually scares the workers bc he can go so fast. he once entered a roller derby and came in first place (he ended up winning free food passes for like a year so. he couldn't have been happier)

Dally actually got kicked out of the other roller rink for pushing little kids over 💀

Soda LOVES the roller rink because a lot of cute girls hang out there. Him and Steve get super competitive, esp when it comes to trying to impress the girls by doing tricks

Steve tries really hard to impress Soda (bro just wants validation 😭) but unfortunately. Mr. Randle is graceless ☹️ but he does end up making Soda laugh so a win IS a win 🤷‍♂️ also Steve's favorite part abt the skating rink is the soft pretzels and cheese.

Darry's pretty good at skating too. He's the only member of the gang who's gone ice skating (his parents had him in an ice skating program for a while as a kid, and he has some friends who invite him to the rink sometimes) but he can do some pretty cool jumps and stuff. If he had more time he'd probably like being in roller derbies
