So I drew "hammer of harp" again. This time Maeglin is with them.

Young Maeglin and dad Rog just came back from the forges, to find Salgant making cookies. Maeglin is very excited. Rog is leaning against the doorframe, very pleased to see his husband and foster-son so happy. The little harp brooch, that Salgant wears, was a gift from Maeglin.

I really tried to draw Maeglin in that dark gray / orcish color, that is described in "The fall of Gondolin". I think it worked very well.

Also, Maeglins pupils are darker, because he never saw the light of the trees.

Opposites attract

So, I have been reading "the fall of Gondolin" and I just read the scene, where little Earendil cries, because Salgant didn´t make it out of the city, because Salgant was always so nice and told him stories and played with him and so on.

With other words: Salgant, despite fearing battle, is a super nice person. He is so... huggable. Peaceful.

And you know who isn´t peaceful? Rog.

I am a strong "Rog was in Angband" believer and I can imagine, that he thought, down there in the mines and pits, that he would never see anything gentle, nice and huggable again, in his life. He gave up.

And when he managed to escape Angband and got to Gondolin, he met a young lord, who had never been at war, even though he lost his entire family to it (and, because of this, was absolutely terrified of fighting). An elf, that embodied all those things, that Rog assumed, he had lost forever.

So while Rog himself could never leave the violence he had seen behind, he was absolutely smitten by the fact, that Salgant was so gentle and peaceful. All those things, that Rog had missed so much.

Also: I love the opposites attract trope, so of course I started shipping them... and am alone with it as it appears XD

Well anyway, if nobody else is going to make fanart of them, I will.

Foreshadowing!

So... I will be writing a Hammer of harp fanfiction. This might give you a little insight on chapter one:

*Kathotar (orc oc) is helping Rog to break out of Angband* Rog: Sooo… Does this make us partners in crime? Kathotar: Don’t push it. Rog: Yes, we are practically best friends now! Kathotar: If you don’t stop talking, Bosnauk, they’re adding “murder” to my traeson charges.

Btw: Bosnauk is black speech for friend amd it is Kathotars nickname for Rog.
