Finished a Rockgrinder for my Necromunda Squats. Done painting all the models I should need for Adepticon. Now I just need to actually sit down and go through the rules cause it's been a while since I last played.
Warhammer 40,000 Genestealer Cults Changes for June 20, 2024
GSC is the other faction with a shiny new Codex. The new book seems to be changing the identity of the faction quite a bit. Many of their best weapons have been toned down to well below their counterparts in other factions. This reinforces the feeling that these are ordinary, if mutated, workers and citizens using improvised weaponry. This is fine, providing the costs of the units now reflect this.
Spoilers, since I accidentally did Grey Knights first, prepare to be disappointed.
For some reason, despite the clarifications in the Core Rules, Regimental Reinforcements has been re-written to detail out all the rules for adding a new unit to your army. The Nexos gets the same treatment. I wonder if they'll be modifying future Codexes to include these rules changes. The FAQ spells out some clarifications for things, most of which are exactly as detailed in the rules. The interesting one, is that if your opponent sets up a unit with 9" of a Cult Ambush token, you don't remove it. The enemy has to actually end a move in order to clear the token.
But its points where people are going to be paying the most attention. People are going to see a lot of red and are probably going to wonder what's going on, because these Units need to go down in cost. But remember, this is the change from the Codex, not the previous MFM. In actuality, Aberrants, Acolytes, the Biophagus, Rockgrinders, Trucks, and Neophytes have all gone down in cost. Meanwhile Iconwards and Kelermorphs are the only models that have gone up in cost.
What does this mean? It means, as expected, that the army has gotten much more hordey. You're going to be able to put a lot more units on the battlefield to make up for the loss in damage. Additionally, GSC can potentially play Secret Missions really well. If you can keep your units coming back on the table, you can keep whittling away at your opponent to come back for a late game victory. Will this be enough? Well GSC is currently one of the top factions in the game. While I have concerns that their new profiles might struggle to bring down important units, they're starting from a position of power. I don't think they're going to be a top faction when everything is said and done. But I also don't think they're heading for the bottom.
Chondrite Meteorite. I will luckily be able to make 2 half pans of this. It took 3 rocks to make 2 half pans! 😪😋 It's amazing to think you can paint with rocks from space! 🤩🌌🌠 #meteorite #space #paint #handmadewatercolors #handmadewatercolours #watercolours #watercolor #pigment #stone #natural #astronomy #brown #africa #handmade #pigmentmaking #handground #rockgrinding #aquarelle #naturalpigment #watercolors https://www.instagram.com/p/CAYSJq4HZFV/?igshid=wcxgqmpxdtji
Do I have any other knowledge about them other than "There used to be Space Dwarfs Mutants but they all gotten eaten or something, idk"? Nope!
First real contact was in the Ravenor Books with shipmaster Shelto Unworth who absolutely wrecked my abs by using words wrong and I love it!
NOW! People are already arguing what the gun will be, stats wise, and I think to myself "do I really want that army?!" (Of course I do. Space Dwarfs Miners. Fucken hell!) BUT I'm also so put off by everyone and their parents jumping right on it and start to try to GUESS!! what they will be like... Seems like the ability to wait became a virtue in this hobby and everything has to be there NOW. All fleshed out, all done, every mini designed, pressed and delivered, with a 100% balanced Codex on top... Dudes... Chill! 😊
Well, I will wait for the things to come and when they are what I think they are - Goliath Rockgrinder, Quads, Motorbike driving Space Dwarfs who aren't REALLY cool with the Imperium and pop back up like "You left us for dead, now it's payback time, biotch!" - then, yeah, I'll get myself a new army! 😊
The looks so far appeal to me and that's more important than any numbers in a book or that weird stuff called Meta 🤔
Genestealer Cult Goliath Rockgrinder.
I decided to try using liquid masking for the rust effect. Never again. Trying to find all the masked areas and getting it to come off clean was a nightmare. Now just some hero's and my first combat patrol will be ready.
Finished painting a Champion with Mining laser for my Necromunda Squats. Her name is Olga Thunderstein. Gonna try to build and paint a Rockgrinder in the coming week and then I'll be done with all the stuff I'm bringing to Adepticon.
