I ate half a serving of some really really good pesto pasta in the evening. Just rocketed out of bed at 3 AM after an hour or so of intense rounds of pain and I’m not going to go into details but holy shit I wish I never ate more than a couple bites of it and just brought a smoothie or soup to the restaraunt instead this is AWFUL. Literally hauled myself into the bathtub with warm water just to breathe.
#will I take a sick day at work#probably not because I really need to hear those meeting discussions this week#will I have a carousel of unpredictable symptoms the rest of the night? possibly#oh my god. oh my god.#it was the best pesto pasta I ever had. it’s becoming the worst pesto pasta I’ve ever had. I am so sad#me: DO I HAVE FOOD POISONING????#also me: has a known GI condition that is the much more Occam’s razor answer to what caused this situation#and yet somehow still me: DO I SUDDENLY HAVE LACTOSE INTOLERANCE???#girl. it’s 4 am. meditate yourself to fucking chill in this bathtub.#then see if you can go back to sleep#anyway. lessons are being learned#I don’t have any idea what happened but it was sooooooooooo rich and I’m guessing it was too much fat or too much fiber or both#brb about to look up almond and pesto sauce nutrition labels#health#future me I hope this never happens to you again#gastroparesis#if I’m taking a warm bath in the middle of my worst POTS flare since 2017-2018#you know how bad I must feel to make that worth it lol

Rutherford is climbing up a ladder and looking down towards Guz. He says: So um, that thing in sickbay, you said that was months ago. What had you so stressed out in the Jeffries Tubes just now? Guz (narrating): I spent weeks working up the courage to talk to Tendi. I made little excuses to show up in sickbay. But one day she... wasn't there anymore. Rutherford (thinking): Right... that must be when Tendi moved to senior science officer training. Flashback to a scene in the Cerritos sickbay. T'ana, an anthropomorphic bipedal cat woman, points an accusative finger at Guz. T'ana: Hey! Goo girl! Tendi doesn't work here anymore! So unless there's ACTUALLY something wrong with-- Guz looks surprised. Guz: Nope! I'll just be going!
Page 2:
Guz is sitting down at a booth in the mess hall. A brown, banded gas giant planet with tenuous rainbow-colored rings is visible out the window. Guz, narrating: I didn't see Tendi for weeks! I know it's stupid, but part of me was afraid she transferred off the ship because of me. Then, I was in the mess hall. Guz is assembling a model spaceship which has a pusher plate at the bottom and half of its hull removed to show the inner workings. She is concentrating with a serious face and her tongue sticking out of her mouth slightly. In the second panel, we see a tray with a pasta with pesto sauce, being carried by pale green hands with blue sleeves. The tray is put down on the table.
Page 3:
Tendi looks surprised and impressed at what she's seeing. Tendi: Is that a model of the N.P.P. Marasha? Guz is concentrating on her model. Guz: Yes--err, well it's the sibling ship N.P.P. Goargar. Guz looks up, disinterested. Guz: You can tell because-- Guz is a little shocked and her mouth is agape as she realizes who she is talking to. Tendi moves to sit down at the booth, and leans forward, looking enthused at Guz. Guz is not making eye contact and is leaning back a little. Tendi: Where's the Warp Whirligigs? Guz: Well, Marasha's warp drive was only a prototype; Goargar continued service as a tramp freighter. Guz imagines a comparison between Marasha and Goargar. The main difference is glowing yellow counter-rotating balls on long struts attached to the front of the ship. Guz: Until the Alnitak War, when it was converted to a war rocket. Guz imagines Goargar with a green energy weapon. Tendi: Wow! You sure know a lot about Orion history! Guz: I know a lot about rocket history.

Mushroom Pesto Pasta
(a lot of this is preference based)
1: get appropriate amount of pasta (approx. 80-100g per serving, depending on how much you eat)
2: boil pasta until at your preferred softness
3: Strain pasta. Keep a cup or so of pasta water. (My favourite way of doing this is to put a mug under the strainer so it fills as you strain)
4: Add about 1 tablespoon of pesto per serving (2 if you like it laid on thick), and 1 teaspoon of pasta water per tablespoon of pesto. Mix until coated.
5: Put the bowl in the microwave, bud don't turn it on. It will keep it warm while you work. (You probably shouldn't microwave pesto, it makes it go funny)
6: Fry mushrooms. Put them in the pan, turn up the heat, add oil, fry until brown.
7: tip the mushrooms out into a separate plate. (Put a piece of kitchen roll on the plate to soak up the excess oil they like to carry around)
8: Add the mushrooms to the pasta. Stir until evenly distributed.
9: Add some rocket (if you like leafy greens). This should happen at the end, because otherwise they will wilt too much.
10: Add salt, pepper, and garlic paste to taste.
11: Consume. Enjoy. Munch.

Sun-dried-tomato-pesto pasta salad
source 1 and source 2
Ingredients
250g dried pasta of choice
1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1 cup rocket/arugula
250g cherry tomatoes, halved
1 can corn, rinsed, drained and pan fried until golden and slightly charred
1 small red onion, diced
1 red capsicum, diced
Pesto
Handful fresh basil (add as much or as little as you'd like! It honestly still tastes great)
1 packed cup sundried tomatoes
1/4 cup cashews or pine nuts
2 cloves garlic
1.5 tbsp lemon juice
Oil from the jar of sundried tomatoes (Start with 1/3 then use more as needed)
Salt & pepper, to taste
Instructions
Cook your pasta according to the package instructions. Drain, rinse in cold water and set aside.
In the meantime, add your basil, sun-dried tomatoes, cashews/pine nuts, garlic and lemon juice into a processor or blender. Process on low speed until all the ingredients have broken down.
With the motor still running, begin to pour in your oil in a thin stream. Start with 1/3 cup and increase to 1/2 or more if needed until you reach desired consistency.
To assemble, add your cooked pasta, chickpeas, rocket, cherry tomatoes, corn, red onion and capsicum into a large bowl. Top with the pesto then mix well until all ingredients are well coated.
Season to taste if necessary and serve! This is meant to be enjoyed cold/as is but if preferred you can heat it up too.

Pesto Pasta Salad
PESTO SAUCE:
Fresh basil leaves
Fresh Parmesan/Reggiano
Pine nuts
Olive oil
Garlic
INGREDIENTS:
Pasta – Any short shape your heart desires! Shells, macaroni, wheels – go wild! I went spirals. I like to live life on the edge. 😂
Just a dab of MAYONNAISE – Not intended to make this a greasy mayo-laden pesto pasta salad! But a little dab goes a long way to give pesto pasta salad an edge of creaminess so it stays nice and “juicy” even the next day. It really makes a difference. Prefer to skip it? Just add a little extra olive oil.
Bocconcini, cherry tomatoes – My add-ins of choice, so it’s not just all pasta. Love the combo of juicy tomato and the soft bites of bocconcini. If you want to skip these, just add a little more pasta. Or, use other add-ins of choice!
Rocket/arugula – I like to add some type of leafy greens into me pesto pasta salads for a hint of freshness and pro
DIRECTIONS:
Cook pasta in salted water per packet time plus 1 minute so it’s extra soft, as explained above. Salted water is a must, else you will feel like your pasta salad is a little under seasoned. (BTW, I start my timer as soon as the pasta goes into the boiling water, not once it comes back up to the simmer. Just in case you’re wondering. )
Rinse the pasta under cold running water to remove excess starch (which makes it sticky, not what we want for pasta salad) and cool.
Drain well and cool.
Pesto & mayonnaise first – Mix the pesto and mayonnaise through the pasta first.
Tomato & bocconcini next – Then gently mix through the tomato and bocconcini. We don’t want to bash up the tomato too much.
Leafy greens last – And lastly, toss through the rocket/arugula. Just quickly, to disperse. Don’t mix too much else the rocket tends to get weighed down with pesto. In other words – the leafy greens hog the pesto, and we can’t have that!

Hooray - im back as i've found another amazing 10 dairy free/Vegan* snacks to write my 3rd blog post on!!
Not all are Vegan but not sure what's in them to make them not plant based🤷♀️ sorry!)
Let's go:
11. Aldi 52% salted dark chocolate🍫
This chocolate is just the best (along with number 12 but this one wins as its cheaper🤷♀️). I used to HATE dark chocolate before I was dairy free but grown to love it - I think being salted helps and its in little bars which helps me not to eat the whole lot in one sitting 👍
12. Tony's almond sea salt dark chocolate🍫
It's pretty pricy but occasionally on offer and found in most supermarkets. It's chunky and delicious. The texture is quite nutty but it doesn't taste too almondy which I wouldnt like personally- just very rich salty dark chocolate.
13. Vegan Kitkats 🍫
These are amazing as they pretty much taste like a normal milk chocolate kitkat. Bad thing is I can't seem to ever find them anywhere except in a tesco meal deal which I now buy a lot more of for this reason. I've also asked my local convenience store to stock them haha 😄
14. Asda apple pies 🍏 🥧
So good - and not dry like I thought they may be being also gluten free. I mean its kind of healthy having apple in right? Starting to realise how unhealthy all my snack recommendations are lol...oh well yolo (and maybe for less time with all this cholesterol lol...dw I've joined a gym finally!)
15. Tesco Pesto 🍃
Alright this isn't a snack...but i just love Pesto so much. I am so glad there are quite a few dairy free Pestos in the supermarket and this one is probably my fav so far I've tried. I add half a jar with a little low fat mayo or dairy free yoghurt/cream to add to pasta (usually with mushrooms, chicken, bacon lardons or chorizo, sweetcorn and rocket). I even took 2 jars to Italy with me as thought it may be a struggle to get vegan food out there (turns out I was right!). See below my Italian michelangelo inspired version lol
16. Nomo caramel chocolate 🍫
More chocolate. I told you in my first post I'm a chocolaholic and woohoo for now having 3 favourite dairy free ones. This is my 3rd favourite and found in most supermarkets now!
17. ASDA vegan lemon muffins 🍋
These taste just like my old homemade Lemon drizzle cake (which used to be packed with dairy butter) - crunchy sugary top and soft crumbly cake, sooo good. The chocolate ones were okay too...but not as good as the Lemon. We need a break on this post from chocolate too haha!!
18. Vegan butter
Talking of butter - this one I find tasty for cooking/toast (which can be a snack before you comment lol - or with crumpets/butter biscuits - without butter obv haha) and it apparently lowers your cholesterol too 🤷♀️ win win!! Sorry for the photo bombing foot😅
19. Applewood vegan burger cheese 🧀 🍔
The app is saying there is a limit of 10 photos. Boooo! This is my favourite sliced cheese for burgers (normal cheese favourite on 2nd post). Applewood was literally my favourite cheese before last year and this isn't a bad dairy free version at all - just has to be a little melted! Okay no defence here, this is not a snack
20. Turns out I don't have any more, I lied.. - just 9 for this post folks!! Hope it's helpful😁🥰

A Little Stroll to the Archaeological Museum - Piraeus, Greece
Today we decided to walk from our apartment at Palaio Faliro to the Archaeological Museum in Piraeus - you can see the city of Piraeus in the distance in the picture above. We walked along the coastline, navigating our way through the various marinas until we reached a dead-end.
One of the marinas we had to go around on our way to Piraeus.
One of the side streets we ended up on, as we zigged and zagged our way through the town of Piraeus. We finally found our way to the main street and stopped for lunch at a little street cafe. We had a delicious lunch - Doug had a curry pasta salad and I had a sandwich with tomatoes, mozzarella, pesto, and rocket (new word for me - basically, arugula). I had my first Greek beer, Alfa, which was tasty. After lunch, we found our way to the museum. We didn’t have much time to browse, as our walk over ended up being almost 10 miles! But we were impressed with what we were able to see.
Remains from an urn found at the archaeological site.
Bronze statue of Artemis, mid-4th century BC. The condition of the statue is unbelievable, as well as the magnificence of the artistry.
One of the panels found in the remains of a shipwreck off the coast of Piraeus - they were being shipped from Piraeus to Italy (I think).
This statue was floor-to-ceiling in a room, it was massive. I believe this was a grave marker from Kallithea.
Portion of the Hadrian statue.
The museum closed at 5:00 and we were worn out from our long walk, so we decided to take the tram back to our apartment. It took us a bit to find our way to the tram station, but we did manage to successfully find it. Luckily, we had figured out Doug’s e-sim card by this time and we were able to use his phone to find the station. When we got back to the area near our apartment, we went to the wine shop we saw yesterday to purchase a bottle of wine for the evening. The owner of the wine store was delightful, patient, and passionate in educating us about Greek wines. We bought a cabernet sauvignon and agiorgitiko blend - it was lovely. Yamas!

Basil and roquet pesto pasta Home made sun dried tomatoes Pasta: quinoa and eggplant Simple and delicious . When craving cooked comfort foods like pasta i will always choose organic and whole grain pastas if i am not making it myself. Quinoa is one of the yummiest in my opinion. I am never super strict on myself! I love being super healthy, i thrive most when eating clean whole foods and mostly raw. But if i want something, i do not deprive myself from it, i just always make sure that i stick to the best version of what i am craving. For me, personally, i believe that it is important to allow myself days where i eat whatever i fancy without judgement. Just a side note, i always fancy whole plant based foods, but sometime they are cooked, comforting, endulgent things, that i know wont be great for my health but i allow myself to just have them. Such as chips! Or pizza. But i will always make the best version of these dishes (always whole foods and never processed!) When you eat very clean diet your body will have a reaction to eating anything which is slightly heavier so it is easy to not over indulge! I am very hard on myself when it comes to food as i teach health and wellness. But i always teach people to never be super strick to the point where if they go off path in any way they will feel terrible. I think its important to be kind to yourself above all else. Your emotions play a major role in health so kindness, acceptance and love are always the beat feelings you can have towards yourself. . #italianfood #vegan #pasta #pesto #sundriedtomatoes #rocket #wholefoods #veganfoodshare #wellness #bekindtoyourself (at Sóller, Mallorca, Balaeric Islands, Spain) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDi3s_8K68W/?igshid=2xk0i03ubxwr
