Rocket Models for Every Skill Level: Beginner to Advanced
Rocket modelling is an exciting and educational hobby that lets you build small-scale versions of real rockets. These rockets are usually made from lightweight materials like plastic or wood, and they use special engines designed for hobbies. These engines, which use solid fuel, provide the push needed to send the rocket soaring into the sky.
Watching a model rocket launch is a thrilling experience. After the countdown, you press a button, and the engine fires up, launching the rocket into the air. As it reaches its peak, a parachute pops out, allowing the missile to gently float back down. Seeing something you built take off is amazing and gives you a great sense of pride and excitement.
Tumblr media
Over the years, rocket modelling has come a long way, thanks to improvements in design and technology. Now, you have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to engines and accessories, allowing you to customize your rockets in many ways.
Rocket Kits for Beginners and Advanced Users
Rocket kits come in different sizes and levels of difficulty, making them suitable for both beginners and experienced builders. Most kits include everything you need to get started: a body tube, fins, a nose cone, and a parachute. This makes it easy for anyone to jump into the hobby, even if they've never built a rocket before.
Tumblr media
The engines used in these rockets are classified by their power level. They are labeled with letters to show how strong they are. For example, an A-class engine is small and less powerful, while a D-class engine is bigger and can carry more weight. It's important to choose the right engine for your rocket's size and design to ensure a successful launch.
Safety Comes First
Safety is very important when it comes to launching rockets. Always make sure you’re in a safe, open area, far away from people, buildings, and anything else that could be damaged. Before every launch, check your rocket to make sure everything is securely in place and working properly. Also, be sure to wear protective gear, like goggles, and use a proper launch pad to avoid any accidents.
Exploring Rocket Kits
Are you ready to take off on a new adventure? Rocket kits are a fantastic way to learn about flight while having a blast. Whether you're an experienced rocketeer or a newbie, there's something truly magical about watching your creation fly into the sky. With so many different rocket models to choose from, each one brings its own challenges and excitement.
Tumblr media
Rocket kits come in all shapes and sizes, so there’s something for every age group and skill level. From simple designs for beginners to more complex builds for advanced hobbyists, the possibilities are endless.
Building a rocket is not only fun, but it's also educational. It teaches you about basic concepts like aerodynamics, engineering, and physics. Each step in the process helps you learn more and engage with your curiosity.
Most rocket kits include detailed instructions that make it easy to understand how the parts fit together. You'll feel a sense of accomplishment as you see your rocket take shape.
Another fun aspect of rocket building is customizing your model. Many hobbyists enjoy painting their rockets and adding unique designs, making their creations stand out. The joy doesn't just come from building the rocket, but also from personalizing it before the big launch day.
When the time comes to launch, the excitement is incredible! Watching your rocket soar into the sky after all your hard work is a rewarding experience.
Rocket Models: A Blend of Art and Science
Rocket models are a great way to combine art and science. Whether you’re building a detailed replica or a simple design, they allow you to get creative while learning the science behind flight.
Many people find joy in crafting their own models. It’s a hobby that sparks creativity and also teaches important lessons in physics and engineering. Each rocket becomes a canvas for your imagination, with endless possibilities for customization.
Tumblr media
There are various materials to choose from, like plastic or wood, and each offers a different building experience. Many builders like to modify their rockets to improve performance or just to make them look cooler.
Competitions are another exciting part of the hobby. Builders get to test their creations against others, seeing whose rocket flies the highest or looks the best. It’s thrilling to watch a rocket you've built soar through the sky.
No matter your experience level, building and flying different rocket models opens up a world of creativity and discovery.
Rocket Kits for Adults
If you're an adult looking for a fun and challenging hobby, model rocket kits might be just what you're looking for. Building and launching these rockets is not only entertaining but also educational, as it teaches you the principles of aerodynamics and physics in a hands-on way.
There are rocket kits available for all skill levels, from simple designs to more complex projects. Some companies even offer advanced rocket models specifically designed for adults who want to push their skills further.
Tumblr media
One of the best parts of being a rocketry enthusiast as an adult is the social aspect. There are clubs and online communities where you can share tips, show off your builds, and even plan group launches. It’s a great way to connect with other people who share your passion.
Whether you're revisiting a childhood hobby or starting something new, building model rockets is a fun and educational activity that brings hours of enjoyment. With so many options available, there’s always something new to learn and explore.
Looking to get started or expand your collection of model rocket kits? Visit Campbelltown Hobbies, where you'll find a wide range of models, engines, and accessories. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, we’ve got everything you need to launch into your next exciting rocketry adventure!

Cancelled Missions: Skylab Rescue Mission (SL-R)
Tumblr media
Mission patch for rescue mission for SL-3
Spacecraft: CSM-119
Launch Vehicle: Saturn IB AS-208, later AS-209
Commander: Vance D. Brand
Command Module Pilot: Don L. Lind
Intended launch date: September 1973, (on standby from August 1973 - February 1974)
Tumblr media

"Influenced by the stranded Skylab crew portrayed in the book and movie 'Marooned', NASA provided a crew rescue capability for the only time in its history." Prepared for launch during Skylab 3."
Tumblr media

Date: April 5, 1971
"A kit was developed to fit out an Apollo command module with a total of five crew couches. In the event a Skylab crew developed trouble with its Apollo CSM return craft, a rescue CSM would be prepared and launched to rendezvous with the station. It would dock with the spare second side docking port of the Skylab docking module."

"The Apollo Command Module as modified to rescue stranded crews for the Skylab program. Two crew + three rescuees packed like sardines...."
"Skylab 3 astronauts Alan Bean and Jack Lousma helped design the "field modification kit" to use a standard CSM for rescue, and would have flown the CSM for their mission to rescue Skylab 2 if necessary. The standard Skylab Command Module accommodated a crew of three with storage lockers on the aft bulkhead for resupply of experiment film and other equipment, as well as the return of exposed film, data tapes and experiment samples. To convert the standard CSM to a rescue vehicle, the storage lockers were removed and replaced with two crew couches to seat a total of five crewmen."

"Soon after Skylab 3's launch the crew's CSM developed a problem with Quad B, one of its four reaction control system thrusters. On August 2, 1973, six days later, a snowstorm-like effect outside the station startled the crew during breakfast. What appeared to be 'a real blizzard' was fuel leaking from Quad D, opposite from Quad B. The malfunctions left two available quads, and while the spacecraft could operate with just one, the leaks posed a possible risk to other systems. The fuel for all quads and the main service propulsion system (SPS) engine were from the same batch; if the SPS fuel was contaminated, the CSM might not be able to deorbit.

NASA considered bringing the crew home immediately, but because the astronauts were safe on the station with ample supplies and because plans for a rescue flight existed,  the mission continued while the Saturn IB rocket AS-208 with CSM-119 was assembled in the Vehicle Assembly Building at Launch Complex 39 for possible use. It was at one point rolled out to LC-39B.

NASA announced on August 4 that Skylab 3 and Skylab 4 backup crewmen Vance Brand and Don Lind would fly any rescue mission; they had immediately begun training for the flight once the second quad had failed on August 2. After engineers found that the leaks would not disable the spacecraft, the two men used simulators to test reentry using two quads. If ground personnel worked 24 hours a day and skipped some tests, the mission could launch on September 10, and would last no more than five days. The astronauts would attempt to prepare Skylab for further use but returning experimental data and diagnosing the cause of the problem were more important, with Lind choosing what would be brought back. Human urine and feces samples and Apollo Telescope Mount and other film were the priorities. Although Skylab had two docking ports the primary one would be used if possible, jettisoning the Skylab crew's CSM if necessary.

While many within NASA believed that the rescue mission would occur, within hours of the failure of the second quad the agency canceled the rescue mission. Beyond NASA's conclusion that the failed quads would not disable the Skylab 3 CSM and the SPS fuel was uncontaminated, Brand and Lind had already shown during their training as backup Skylab crewmen that a reentry with failed quads was safe. They also devised a method to deorbit with the command module's attitude control system. Later joking that they were 'very efficient but perfectly stupid, because we have literally worked ourselves out of the mission', Brand and Lind continued to train for a rescue mission, as well as for their backup roles, but the Skylab 3 crew was able to complete its full 59-day mission on the station and safely return to Earth using the two functional RCS thruster quads,  using the SPS engine once instead of twice as precaution."

Why I don't expect promotion for Muse to be similar to RPWP or Golden...
...or any other release before that.
Smeraldo Garden Marching Band is doing well for not having it's artist available. In fact it is outstanding. There were many other prominent artists who released music on the same day and are currently hitting up the interview circuit and other promotional activities. Our boy debuts at #4 on Global Spotify and he's somewhere on a military base.
Tumblr media
See the post here.
That is pretty outstanding for not having the artist available to promote. Name another artist in which this has happened.
Perhaps a dead one... let's just not go there.
"But the Youtube views are low..."
I think since the popularity of Tiktok, the use of YouTube and therefore its influence has diminished somewhat. That doesn't mean there shouldn't be more views. We all know the challenges we have with YouTube. We just have to do the best we can with using YouTube.
Help boost views. Watch the MV here.
"But Right Place Wrong Person was heavily promoted..."
Namjoon was all over his own IG often, almost every day for a while, along with the staff he appointed to post on the @rpwprpwprpwp Instagram account. Perhaps this created a perception that RPWP had some heavy promotion when he was doing all that himself and it was keeping it in front of us so consistently.
The BigHit instagram chat channel is being used for Muse and has been very engaging. It is convenient for Jimin in case he is able and does repost or create a story with any of that content.
I've seen a lot of buzz in the media on both sides of the Pacific regarding SGMB and Muse. That means BigHit sent out press kits. I saw at least one radio group posting they had the song and it was ready to include in their rotations. We'll see if they actually follow through. But that means BigHit sent it to radio.
"Jimin and the members need to post about it..."
It is more of a challenge for Jimin and Jungkook to be online because of the location of their base. If it is in the mountains as was mentioned earlier this year, their internet connection may not be as reliable or strong enough to allow much use. Soldiers may also be restricted as to if they can even use it if the base itself needs it for military operations or if its encrypted for security or whatever myriad of reasons why they can't access it.
If they had reliable internet service where they are, we'd be seeing JK on TikTok more often. But... perhaps TikTok is one of those apps that they are discouraged from using as it is China-based and why JK created the Instagram account for Bam.
Perhaps they are free to do what they want only when OFF base and out of the area during their days off. We don't know what their restrictions are.
People just have to come down to earth and think. Jimin is in the military. I'm most certain that Jimin is being Jimin and focused on his duties. He is wearing fatigues and a helmet and going out everyday doing drills and training including firing ammunition out of a big ass piece of warfare equipment. He is listening to reports from his commanders about what is going on regarding North Korea and what his base will be expected to do if anything should escalate. He should be focused on his duties not focused on what is happening out here.
It is Saturday. Not sure what their alert status might be on a weekend. But we have to be cognizant that JM and JK are the closest to the DMZ of any of the members and will be activated first should anything occur.
I am constantly thinking about how every time we hear of nonsense from NK that JM and JK have to hear it every day too and any contingency they will be ready for in case anythng happens.
NK fired missiles the other day. Yesterday maybe? Some sort of rocket that can launch multiple missiles in one shot. It's chilling. Now imagine you are mere miles from the border and must react with your own weapons of mass destruction should anything become more aggressive.
Jimin worked and created, then he left it for us while he is doing his duty. I'm never going to expect him to do anything else until he is discharged. Unless he is able and wants to. Otherwise I want him doing what he feels he needs to do in order to get through this for himself and Jungkook.
I am very, very happy Namjoon was able to and wanted to participate in his own album's release as much as he was able. But some people have the same expectation that Jimin should too.
I'm never going to expect it from Jimin.
"The company is not doing enough..."
Surely everyone knows this is not a big long vacation for them. It may be a break from their careers and their real personal lives but its not a vacation by any means.
They keep saying its not easy. Perhaps they mean its not easy sitting in a military base carrying out a routine day in day out.
Or perhaps they say its not easy because they are on constant alert. They cannot give any details because their locations and their activities are classified information. Surely, surely, people can realize that right?
See? My brain is always thinking I just don't say a lot of what it comes up with. Because it serves no purpose to talk about it except to create worry. Just like people screaming at the company, it creates stress and negativity.
There is only so much public facing promoting the company can achieve especially when its been planned with the artist's involvement. Since I don't know (and neither does anyone else) what the entire promotion plan is, how can anyone speak on the promotion plan? Just because another member's release was handled a certain way does that mean it should be done the same for all? Not necessarily.
Stationhead listening party schedule:
Tumblr media
This is an ad I just saw from BigHit.
Yes, this is an ad and not a repost, I've seen it twice already and it is not on the @BTS_bighit accounts feed:
Tumblr media
These are posts promoting SGMB on streaming platforms:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, if you use any playlists on streaming platforms, check the songs on the list and turn off/delete the ones you don't want to stream. Or create your own playlists.
The people printing their own posters, putting them up in public and asking for them to be displayed is WONDERFUL! THAT is the energy Army are known for!
Also the UK issue with the random inclusion making it disqualified. A fix may or may not be in the works. Constant screaming to the company won't make it happen faster or at all if it can't be done logistically. All screaming does is make everyone feel bad, including Jimin if he sees it.
@OfficialCharts is UK based and posted about Jimin and SGMB:
Tumblr media
But since people began screaming since day one, every time another step in the promotion process occurs, screamers will take credit for it and vehemently scream it only happened because they were screaming when the reality is, no one knows whats on the promotion schedule.
Those of you telling people not to buy the album now but to wait and buy it when it releases? THAT IS USEFUL AND PRODUCTIVE INFORMATION!
We, as Army, know how, what and when to buy in order to impact the charts. I know you didn't forget any of that. So stop screaming and do something productive like tell people how to work around this apparent obstacle until it is fixed or in case it never gets fixed.
The screaming at BigHit to do their job is not productive or useful at all in helping Jimin at this point. It only displays negativity and lowers morale for those who don't know what to do.
We are a month away from the album's release for god's sakes, the pre-promotions are paced to keep interest.
They can't all be thrown out all at one time.
Whatever comes out as pre-promotions will be things that were planned in advance and not knee jerk reactions to the screamers.
"If we don't say anything, things will never change for Jimin."
That is your perception. Jimin is very much in control of his own life and career. He can change anything he wants to. Feel free to scream about it, I know its different strokes for different folks. But constantly screaming and trending it surrounds Jimin's activities with stress and negativity. I know you know how to communicate your concerns to the company discreetly. And we know they see our communications because they ask us for help to identify those who are carrying out slanderous and illegal activities against our guys.
If you want to help, communicate to the rest of the fandom the steps they can take to actually help increase streams, views and sales.
Even if the company plasters posters everywhere, WE, THE FANS, are still the ones who do the streaming, buying, viewing and supporting. Its in our hands now. We know what to do!
After all is said and done, I trust Jimin. He's in control of his life.
And he has Jungkook with him. That's the smartest fucking thing ever.
Please go stream it now on your preferred streaming platform.
Please go share some of the various positive news media stories out there on your socials.

🇮🇱SRI LANKA TRAVEL WARNING, POLICE DRAMA - Real time from Israel
ISRAEL REALTIME - Connecting to Israel in Realtime
( VIDEO - The remains of Kfar Kila, a southern Lebanese near-border Hezbollah village that also acted as a major launch site. )
✡️Tonight is SIMCHAT TORAH starts tonight, where we celebrate with the Torah!  Chag Samayach, a joyful holiday!
.. Several rabbis have noted: How can we celebrate when this war started on this holiday last year?  When so many fell, so many remain hostages, so many are fighting and so many have given their lives in our defense?
They answer: very much in the name of the fallen, in the name of the hostages, in the name of the Jewish people and those who have sacrificed, WE WILL NOT ALLOW THE ENEMY to destroy our holiday, to destroy our joy and celebration.
AM YISROEL CHAI, the Jewish people live!  We will celebrate, we will win, we will honor their sacrifice.
✡️As a Jewish holy-day, we DO NOT POST news from sundown for 26 hours unless there is a LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCY.
️ISRAEL NATIONAL SECURITY TRAVEL WARNING.. calls on the Israelis to immediately leave the Arugam Bay area and the coastal area in the south and west of Sri Lanka due to terror threat to Israeli tourists, following a warning about a terrorist squad of the Revolutionary Guards mission in the area.
⚠️ HOME FRONT COMMAND - - if you find rocket or drone debris during holiday outdoor activity, DO NOT TOUCH IT - contact Home Front (dial 104) or the Police (dial 100).  The parts may be dangerous or toxic, or be important for security.
♦️LEBANON - TZUR-TYRE.. Civil Defense in Tyre walks the streets of the city and asks citizens through loudspeakers to evacuate immediately.  The Civil Defense closed the entrances to the city of Tyre to prevent entry.  Heavy IDF attacks.
♦️LEBANON - (enemy reports) Dozens of IDF air force attacks on more than 20 villages and towns in Lebanon.
🔹IRANIAN TERROR PROPAGANDA.. a new mural in the center of Tehran: No (Israeli) hostage will be released.
🔹HOUTHIS CLEAR THEIR PORT?  Houthi leader Abdel Malik al Houthi issued an urgent order to the owners of the containers in the port to clear out the Hodediah port, immediately.  ???
🔹GERMANY SAYS.. German Foreign Minister: Israel succeeded in weakening Hezbollah to a great extent, and the task now is to reach an effective diplomatic solution.
🔹US INTEL AIRCRAFT.. The US is operating reconnaissance aircraft in the Persian Gulf to monitor the movements of Iranian surface-to-surface missiles.
🔹US SEC STATE GOES TO SAUDI ARABIA.. from Israel.  Riyadh: The American Secretary of State in Lincoln met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, and talked with them about "the developments in Gaza and Lebanon"
▪️ON ISRAEL APPROVING THE NEW COVID VACCINE.. I received significant STRONG negative feedback about the Israel Min. Of Health approving and bringing into the fall vaxx schedule the new COVID vaccine.  It has become ridiculously difficult to determine the facts around COVID vaccines, and I can only advise to consult with a trusted medical professional before taking this vaccine, and there are categories of people who should clearly avoid it such as men under 30.
.. Israel no longer has public COVID testing, COVID (and flu, and both together, and strep - quick test kits are available at pharmacies), so there is no case rate data.
.. The last info I can find on COVID in Israel is 14 cases hospitalized in June, all seniors with other health problems. This is the “from COVID or with COVID” argument, and the article seems to state “with”.

Every single Brawl Stars character as songs
So, I was unhappy with my prior posts on this topic, both because of the song choices I made and because I didn't properly credit the musicians behind them. Ergo, I'm going to compile all of the brawlers into a single list below the cut, and then update and reblog this post each time a new brawler is released.
Feedback regarding song choices is encouraged if you think you have a better fit for a character.

Mister Kraglin had cut off his thumb.
You’re not even been quite sure how, but Mister Kraglin had cut off his thumb. It hadn’t been a job for a medpack — those are generally reserved for life-threatening injuries involving major trauma, and a medpack would have only healed up the stump anyway. No, Mister Kraglin had cut off his thumb and had shown up sobbing at the Knowhere clinic door, and it had been your job to soothe him and reseal every vein and artery, to string the nerves and tendons back together like loose threads on a sweater, and finally to laser stitch the skin in place, bandage it up, and brace it with one of the adjustable vibranium-and-vinyl splints that Rocket had made — per your request — for situations just like this one.
It had sent a stinging ache in your heart to see Mister Kraglin so upset. The former Ravager is more vulnerable in his pain than young Mister Adam or even any of the Star Children — at least while he’s safely at home on Knowhere — and you’ve gathered that this behavior might be due to the hollowing lack of any kind of person-to-person comfort he’d ever received as a child. You yourself are all too familiar with some of that feeling — emotional self-sufficiency and a wrenching desire for affection, bordering on need — in spite of the privilege inherent in being adopted into the Relvoith royal family.
Or perhaps because of it.
And so, you had soothed him with the softest words you could dream up, worried they might’ve sounded stilted in the formality of the Relvoith tongue. But the universal translator must have worked well, or perhaps the overly-decorous language hadn’t mattered in the end, because Mister Kraglin had sniffled and dried his tears with the back of his uninjured hand. Then he’d given you a wobbly and tremulous half-smile, thanking you so fervently that an observer might have thought you’d saved his life.
Unfortunately, the result is that you are exhausted — feet aching and eyes tired, a dull headache starting to form behind your golden eyes by the time you reach the open casement leading to the door of the apartment rooms you share with Rocket. One of the raccoon kits — the smallest of the litter rescued from the Arête — is waiting on the threshold, grooming itself. It’s only the tiniest bit larger today than it had been on the day you’d inadvertently adopted it, and it lifts its head as soon as it breathes in your scent, ears and nose twitching. Its tail flips from one side to the other when it sees you, and it immediately begins to generate the fast-paced hollow clicking noise that you’ve come to understand means that it’s purring.
“Hello, littlest one,” you say, crouching, and it immediately launches itself onto one of your soft thighs, and then into your chest. You cuddle it against you as you stand, pressing your mouth to the crown of its head, and open the apartment door.
The apartment is a little tattered, but it’s home: the place you and Rocket have made for yourselves, carved out of a little patch of Knowhere. There’s a broad series of patchwork-windows made of frosted and colored glass, and they shine like jewels when the artificial lights outside slant into a manufactured sunset. In certain hours, they cast a glowing, muted rainbow glow onto the rest of the main room. One wall is lined with Rocket’s inventions and tools, and the ceiling is edged in strings of tiny gold plasma-orbs that he’d pinned to the wall while perched on your shoulders. The doors on the kitchenette cupboards had been falling off when the two of you had moved in, so you’d replaced them with miniature curtains made of patterned fabrics and gauzy muslin and a treasured panel of Spartoi lace you’d found in Sanna Orix’s shop. The sofa is a soft corduroy, the color and texture of a purple night-sky, velvety and only a little frayed at all the seams. It had been one of Rocket’s discoveries. He’d made Mister Drax carry it from the Bowie all the way to your little apartment, just because he’d thought you might enjoy it. One arm of the sofa is draped with the rumpled softness of an old quilt — a gift from the citizens of Knowhere to their new Captain and his princess. It’s patched with squares offered up from each of the Guardians, and others, too: red flannel and a dove-gray fabric from Star-Lord’s childhood shirts, a scrap of leather from Mister Nebula’s uniform. Another square had been thieved from an armored vest left behind by Miss Gamora, after she’d been stolen away and sacrificed by Thanos. A couple of rectangles of fabric, cut from the plush baby-blanket that Groot had kept in his pot when he was still small, and little pieces from a strained button-down shirt that Mister Drax had decided to wear for a cycle just so he could have something to contribute to the quilt. There’s a patch from Cosmo’s suit, and another from young Mister Adam’s singed Sovereign cast-off, and silver-threaded stars embroidered in sloppily by young Miss Phyla and each of her siblings. A few splashes of delicate floral prints from Miss Ssssaralami and worn yellow canvas from Mister Blueliver and even an intentional splash of cosmic-green gin from Mister Howard.
At least, you assume it was intentional. Mister Howard claims it was intentional, and you’ve never been particularly adept at spotting lies.
In short, there’s not an inch of your little apartment that isn’t brimming with the soft shadows and glowing warmth of memories that you and Rocket have made together.
Unfortunately, you don’t have long to enjoy the peace of the small space. You can already hear Rocket cursing and muttering inside the next room, and it makes your own ears twitch with concern.
“Shoulda just paid Ssssaralami to do it. No, no, I wanna do it myself. Moron. Like you forgot you were a mechanic, not a frickin’ artist. Frickin’ paint in my damn fur. Better come out—”
“Rocks?” you call softly, snuggling the raccoon kit in against your chest again. The raccoon’s purring never stops, and its coat is a plush and velvety spray against the underside of your chin. “Are you well?”
Rocket’s head pops around the side of the bedroom door: fur mussed and flattened on one cheek, a splotch of purple dripping into the fur between the base of one soft ear and the crown of his head. There’s a smudge of luminous yellow-gold on his nose, glittering and so vibrant and warm that it almost looks like a wedge of amber over a candleflame. His eyes, bright as red stars and sunsets — all the holiest things in the universe — narrow on you immediately.
“You weren’t s’posed to be home for another three hours,” he growls accusingly.
The raccoon kit pats the golden swirl on your cheek with one flat paw, then headbutts you under the chin for more cuddles. Its purring grows louder.
“Mister Kraglin cut off his thumb,” you tell Rocket, wide-eyed as you take in the violet and sunshine smeared into his fur. Most of him is hidden behind the doorframe, but one hand grips the edge, and you can see gold and purple crusted around his claws. “It was the most excitement the clinic has seen in a while,” you admit, “and we have closed early as a result.” You feel your head tilt. “Are you… painting something?”
He doesn’t say anything for a moment — eyes dropping to take in your white-and-red uniform — before he sighs: utterly beleaguered. “Trying to,” he mutters, and rolls his eyes. “Was supposed to be a frickin’ surprise.” He wheels back from the door, gesturing with that dark-clawed, paint-spattered hand. “C’mon in, Starlight.”
You carefully set the littlest raccoon on the sofa, and make your way deeper into the apartment.
Your breath trips out of your lungs when you cross the threshold into the bedroom. It’s been utterly transformed in your few hours away.
It is, you think in wonderment, like walking into the heart of an amethyst.
Layers of paint — from the ashen lilac of the sky just after the sun goes down, all the way to the richest midnight-purple — fold over each other in veils of haphazard brushwork, scraped across each other as if the painter were trying to create something deep and glimmering. It’s true that there are some splashes of color on the cracked bone-tiles of the floor, and little ripples where the purple had dribbled too thickly down the walls — but he’s covered the bed with a canvas that you recognize as borrowed or stolen from Miss Ssssaralami, and the plasma-orb lamps are similarly protected. A shabby box sits in one corner, full of wires and frosted glass, but you’re too entranced by the purple walls: the illusion of velvety, luminous depth — the sense of swimming in an endless night sky, or diving into the rift at the end of the universe.
And against the purple — all misshapen and erratic, in clusters and lopsided sprays, different sizes and spaces between each one — shine a hundred golden stars. They’re gleaming and metallic, shimmering with the same crushed glitter-dust smudged across Rocket’s nose, sparkling and brilliant and warm.
You touch one lightly with the golden pad of your fingertip, awestruck.
“You are an artist,” you say solemnly, awestruck as your eyes travel around the room.
Rocket scowls and shuffles the fur of his forearm against the end of his nose — then looks down to realize he’s smeared more gold paint on himself. A strangled roar of outrage climbs in his throat and hisses between his teeth, gravelly and shrill, and you blink down at him over one soft shoulder.
He looks like he’s ready to pull out fistfuls of his own fur, panting.
“I’d call you a liar if I didn’t know how frickin’ bad you are at it,” he seethes, glaring around the room as if the walls have personally insulted him. “It’s a damn mess.”
You tilt your head. You don’t generally find his aggravation humorous, but it is often endearing — and you know him well enough now to understand that sometimes, a little gentle mockery will make him feel safer.
“Small One,” you tease lightly, letting a smile curve your full lips, flashing your white teeth and the slight gap between them at your beautiful Captain, “the imperfections are what make it so lovely.”
His eyes narrow at you again, distant crimson suns, and for a moment he continues to fume: fists clenched, sharp teeth gritted. He is flawless nonetheless: his casual Knowhere-clothes spattered with bright sparkling yellow, now, and streaked with purple. One whole whisker gleams gold in the artificial Knowhere light that streams through the circular window, open over the head of the bed.
He sighs suddenly, his jaw and shoulders and hands all loosening, and you can see now that his palms are streaked with gold paint, too.
You’re always soft for Rocket, but everything inside you suddenly feels even softer: more pliable, more tender. You let your smile shift from playfulness to pure, gentle wonder as you gaze around the room again: jewel-toned, sequined and filigreed with suns and stars made even more sacred by the fact that they’ve come from his own hands. He’s even included some lopsided versions of the holy constellations you grew up studying in the Ositamet sky, which you hadn’t even realized he might remember from your stories. That same place in your heart that had ached over Mister Kraglin’s tears suddenly trembles and heats, overflowing with sunlight. You think it might pour out of your skin. In fact, you can feel it: the warmth in your cheeks, the tip of your ears and nose.
“You’re blushing,” Rocket notes drily, and your brow creases.
“Relvoith do not blush,” you say sternly. Which is true, after all — it’s not as if you can lie, even if you’d wanted to.
Rocket only rolls his eyes. “Whatever. You’re — gold-dusting, then. Sunbursting.”
You touch the warm swirls in your cheeks, knowing they’re bright as the stars he’s painted onto the walls.
“I am overwhelmed,” you admit to him softly. You can feel your eyes sting with tears as you turn slowly, taking everything in. Your voice is hushed. “I think perhaps this is the kindest, most generous thing that anyone has ever done for me, Rocks.”
Even though your eyes are on the skewed stars, you can feel the tension leave the little room when he sighs again.
“Yeah, yeah, princess,” he gruffs out. “Just — got sick of hearing you talk about wanting to redecorate.”
Now you do look at him, tilting your head. “I think that is a lie.”
He scowls, but there’s nothing hard in it at all. His sun-ruby eyes have turned into something soft and melting. “Just a little one.”
You cast another smile at him before turning your attention again to the starscape painted all around you.
“Why did you choose purple for the sky?” you muse after a moment. “I like it very much, but I would not have expected that choice from you—”
“Reminded me of you,” he mumbles, and when you glance at him again, he’s shifting his weight from one foot to the other and looking away, scrubbing at his gold-dipped whiskers with the back of his wrist in the way you’ve come to recognize means he’s embarrassed. “Your uniform-thing, the first time we met. It was, uh, purple and white.” He clears his throat, and your smile turns into a delighted grin.
“You were feeling quite sentimental, then,” you tease.
“Whatever,” he scoffs, rolling his eyes and turning away to begin peeling the canvas drape off the bed, revealing the fleecy turquoise comforter underneath, rippled with velveteen stripes. It’s a bit faded and ragged, and the mattress dips in the middle, but it’s a far cry from the piece of scrapmetal Rocket had been sleeping on when he had still been staying in his own apartment, just off the Guardians’ main office down the street. “You’re such a pain,” he adds, tossing the crumpled canvas into the corner and picking up the box of wire and glass you’d only vaguely noticed when you’d walked in. He sets the dilapidated box on the bed. “Wanna help me hang these? They’re not frickin’... authentic or whatever. Too expensive to get the real ones, all the way from Ositamet. Consider ‘em… off-brand, or whatever.”
He clears his throat again: a tell you’ve come to recognize; an indicator that he’s nervous. You lean over, peering into the box, and your heart catches in your throat again: full of sunlight, overflowing.
“You’re gold-dusting again,” he points out drily.
“How did you get these, if not from home?” you ask softly, lifting up one handful of bright-copper wire. He shuffles in tightly against your thigh, leaning one cheek into the soft plushness of your hip.
“Sketched ‘em up,” he admits. “Wove the wire and made the little plasma-orbs on my own. Had Steemie save the glass from that old building they tore down in Exitar. Cut it an’ soldered it myself.” He swallows. “Wasn’t that hard,” he adds, trying to downplay the time and effort you suddenly know he must have put into planning every inch of this creation. “With the ships, I musta had to patch glass at least a hundred times before.”
But these handcrafted string-lights are not just patched glass. They’re perfect star-shaped lanterns, far more precise than the celestial bodies spangling the walls. And though not every pane of glass matches in color or texture, they’re worth more to you than any import from the palaces and streets of Ositamet.
“Yes,” you whisper. “Let us hang them.”
Rocket doesn’t wait: he leaps nimbly onto the mattress and then springs to your shoulders. He’s heavy with screws and solder, bolts and plates, but his weight’s  still nothing for your strength. You gather the strings of lights in your hands and they clink merrily against each other as you travel the perimeter of the room. When you hand him the end of the twisted copper wire,  he holds the cord to the edge of the ceiling and fastens it into the bone-plaster with the soft, hollow thud of a bolt-gun.
The two of you continue around the room, skirting the pan of purple-and-gold swirled paint still on the floor, full of sopping brushes. A manufactured Knowhere breeze filters in through the round window, along with the artificial sunlight; it brightens the still-drying stars, making the room glimmer all around the two of you. You soak in the lullaby made by the measured timpani of the bolt-gun and the pleasant chime of the star-lanterns in your hands, feeding them up to your beautiful captain. There’s the comforting feel of his strong thighs braced between your palms and shoulders: a warm, welcome weight. Your eyes are drawn to a spray of purple on the claws of his left foot, like nail lacquer — it curls the corner of your mouth in a whimsical smile but you don’t dare breathe a word of it right now.
By the time the stringed lights are garlanded all around the room, the artificial lights outside have already begun dimming, and the room is dusky and softly-shadowed. Rocket leaps off of your shoulders, fleet-footed, and taps the sensor on the wall. It’s normally synced to the plasma-orb lamps, but he must have programmed the star-lanterns in too, because they brighten into a quiet glow: every bit of illumination magnified by the glass, refracted into the occasional spray of rainbow-flaked light scattered across the starscape-walls, the velvety bed, the paint-spattered floor. With one foot, Rocket drags the soft, shaggy rug from where he’d shuffled it under the bed, and the room is almost back to normal.
Almost normal, but transformed into something divine.
You stand for a moment, and take in the coziness of the room, the glints of far-off skies and dreams, the shimmering warmth in your heart and the knowledge of how much you truly mean to the beautiful Captain of Knowhere.
He must be able to tell your thoughts are shifting into sentimentality, because he breaks the quiet with a dramatic sigh.
“Now I gotta get all this damn paint outta my fur,” he laments, looking down at his purple-streaked feet and the shimmering yellow smeared across his forearm. When he turns his palms up, he groans, his whole head leaned back so he can curse the ceiling. The dark leather of both hands are glazed with sun-bright gold, as if he had fingerpainted the stars.
“Dammit,” he curses, as his fists begin to curl all over again.
But you catch one narrow wrist, watching the way he shines. “Look,” you say with a sun-bright smile of your own, and his knotted fingers loosen in your gentle grasp. You open your own hand next to his. The pads of your fingers and creased palm are ashimmer just like his, like you’d both been caught with fistfuls of sunlight and stars. You turn your hand over top of his, and you lace your fingers into the soft spaces between his knuckles: gold pressed to gold, so bright that it’s a wonder that sunshine doesn’t fan out from between your clasped hands in glittering rays.
Rocket swallows, whiskers and tail and ears all twitching, his glowing sunrise-eyes going soft in the dusky evening glow. “Starlight,” he says, and his voice is a husky rasp. “I wanted to tell you — but I ain’t good with words—”
Whatever he had been going to say is suddenly broken by the sound of a mechanical chime: the doorbell. You both look up, and it rings again.
“Dammit,” Rocket snaps for what must be the third time in just an hour or two. He tugs his hand from yours, stalking toward the door and flinging it open.
Miss Cosmo and young Miss Phyla are there, the former sitting on the step with a nervously-wagging tail. You can see Rocket’s shoulders ease, and you know it’s because he’s secretly soft for children and animals. Well, he seems to think it’s a secret, anyway. The sight makes you melt even more.
“I’m so sorry, Jazper,” the Star Child says, apology written all over her childish face. “I know the Captain was planning a surprise for you tonight, but—”
“But Adam has broken the ocular cannon,” Cosmo pipes up, and her tail begins to move twice as fast.
“The — what?” Rocket repeats, and you can hear the tension rising again in his voice. “What was he even doing with it?”
Miss Cosmo tilts her head as young Miss Phyla winces.
“Messing around,” the cosmonaut says, and her mechanical voice lilts in such a way that it sounds like a quote.
You move to lean by the door, and Rocket pinches the bridge of his nose. “Unbelievable,” he mutters. “Can’t get a frickin’ minute a’ peace—”
“It is okay,” you say with a wide smile. “I will be here when you come home.”
Rocket glances up at you, and his expression is pained. “I don’t—”
“Uhm,” young Miss Phyla interrupts hesitantly, teeth bared in a sorrowful grimace, “I hate to tell you this, but your — your guest is making a mess?”
Both you and Rocket turn to find the littlest raccoon kit meandering through the apartment living space, then between the two of you, and right out the open door. In its wake, from the bedroom to the front door, trail a ribbon of paint-slick pawprints sinking into the bone-floor forever: shades of purple, smeared with starlight-gold.
Rocket stares after the littlest kit as it ambles away. His mouth wobbles in something torn between bone-deep exhaustion, and a desire to bare his teeth and commit murder.
The corners of your own mouth curl, and your shoulders shake with feathery laughter. “Go,” you tell your Captain, and lean toward him. Young Miss Phyla and Miss Cosmo have seen the two of you together often enough to know that everyone will be happier if they turn their backs and pretend not to know that you’re dropping a kiss on the crown of Rocket’s paint-spattered head. “I will see you later tonight.”
You’re rising back upward when his gold-dipped fingers curl into the collar of the clinic uniform you’re still wearing. “Wait,” he mutters, tugging you back down and levying a quick, fleeting flick of his tongue to the fullness of your upper lip. “‘Fore I go.”
It’s a ritual, at this point: the soft kiss, the tug at your collar, the brief lick or nip at your mouth. And then the question, rumbling up from the bottom of his lungs, low and warm:
“Who’s yer favorite Guardian?”
You smile, your lips just a breath away from his nose — the answer the same now as it’s always been.
After all, you cannot lie.
“You are.”

thank you for giving me the chance to write this! it was such a fun idea and it was so interesting to work with someone else’s oc in this context, and try to integrate the formality of jazper’s language into the writing without making it sound unnatural (i hope i accomplished it!). i’ve never written for someone else’s character like this so i hope i did jaz justice ♡ thank you for trusting me with them. it was truly a privilege and i hope it was everything you were looking for ♡♡♡

France will deliver missiles to Ukraine on a monthly basis in 2024
More than 600 missiles announced as continuous support in the midst of Ukraine's struggles.
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 01/19/2024 - 16:00 in Military, War Zones
France has committed to provide Ukraine with 50 missiles per month over 2024, totaling 600 missiles throughout the year, as the war-torn nation continues to face the effects of the conflict.
The French Minister of Defense, Sebastien Lecornu, announced the start of missile deliveries to Ukraine during an interview at France Inter, reports Le Figaro. From January 18, France will provide approximately 50 undesignated "missiles" per month by the end of the year.
Lecornu clarified that this is a distinct initiative from President Emmanuel Macron's decision to supply about 40 SCALP air-to-air cruise missiles to Ukraine.
Tumblr media
The missile weapons supplied are believed to be modified air bombs of the AASM family, equipped with a propellant rocket and classified as missiles in the French military system. AASM is a modernization kit designed for existing free-fall unguided aerial pumps, specifically the American JDAM model used by Ukrainian tactical aviation.
The AASM kit includes a front section with orientation system and flaps and a rear section with accelerator to increase flight range. Two types of aerial pump kits are in use in France: "Hammer-250" for 227 kg Mk82 pumps and "Hammer-1000" for 908 kg Mk84 pumps.
Tumblr media
The front part of the AASM kit can incorporate three orientation systems: inertial with GPS correction, inertial with thermal imaging orientation or similar with laser beam orientation system. In 2016, the French Ministry of Defense ordered the production of 764 AASM sets with inertial orientation system, 384 sets with thermal imaging orientation and 600 sets with laser orientation.
The range of these ammunition varies according to the launch height and the initial speed, officially ranging from 15 to 70 kilometers. With the expected start of ammunition transfers in January, it is expected that Ukrainian aircraft, especially Soviet-era models, such as the MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters, will be the main users of Mk.82 air bombs. The heavier Mk.84 pumps, weighing 908 kg, are only compatible with the Su-24M frontline bomber.
Tumblr media
In addition, the AASM ammunition demonstrated compatibility with F-16 fighters during the tests in 2014. Ukraine is expected to receive its first F-16 fighters this year.

The Israeli attack on a hospital in Gaza was carried out with a “proximity fuse” bomb that explodes high above the ground, an expert told Anadolu on Wednesday.
Retired military officer and ammunition specialist Engin Yigit said there was a strong possibility that the attack was carried out with an MK-84 guided bomb.
Yigit said considering the images of the moment of the attack, the probability that the ammunition was a JDAM-equipped 2,000-pound (910-kilogram) Mark 84 (MK-84) bomb increased.
He noted that Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) is the name of one of the guidance kits. “You can make the bomb guided with a kit that you attach to the front or back of MAK-82, MAK-83, MAK-84 bombs.”
“JDAM is a type of kit that allows precise delivery of the bomb to the target,” he said. “The said kit attached to the bomb makes the bomb smart and provides precision strike capability.”
Yigit said there are several fuses to detonate the bombs and some can explode on impact, while others can explode at the desired moment and height before impact.
“Bombs with proximity fuses or proximity sensors may not create craters where they explode,” he said. “The hospital attack in Gaza may have been similar. How high the bomb explodes can be set by the user.”
The strike by Israel on the al-Ahli Baptist Hospital killed at least 471 victims, according to revised figures by the Gaza Health Ministry.
The conflict began Oct. 7 when Hamas initiated Operation Al-Aqsa Flood -- a multi-pronged surprise attack that included a barrage of rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel by land, sea and air.
Hamas said the incursion was in retaliation for the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and growing violence by Israeli settlers.
The Israeli military then launched Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.
At least 3,478 Palestinians have been killed. The death toll in Israel stands at more than 1,400.

Thinking of Doomfist when making a character, but his abilities all tie to his physique and decades of training. But there's one ability that stood out: the knuckle darts. Now there's another: the power block. So how about something mixing the power block and knuckle darts? If that's not possible, I'll take just the knuckle darts.
I don't think that's a bad idea, but this is a case where I think you are going in the wrong direction with this. When translating a character, you need to try and make it so their ability actually reflects the character. What is Doomfist known for? His giant mechanical fist. Why would you make a Quirk about anything else? After that, it's a matter of what from the characters kit you could reasonably fit in the setting and under a single idea. You could easily just make his fist the Quirk. A big ole' fist that punches people really hard. That sounds perfectly fine as a Quirk. If you want to include the physicals abilities and skill of the character, just work that into the Quirk as it's downsides. And if you think that's boring, there's plenty of more you could add to it. Doomfist is a character where I think a lot of his kit could work and be an expansion of the fist, maybe even as one Quirk. Like whenever he punches someone, it could give him a kind of over shield like it does in the game. Have the arm include rocket parts to launch a punch people. Shoot, make the fist a shotgun that shots out the arm darts via fist pumping. Just something that fits with the character. I even think you could fit a lot of it under one Quirk.

"New" Torchship character! Torchship is an upcoming TTRPG about star trek and communism. You can read more about it here: @torchship-rpg
Star Patrol Cosmonaut Eaurp Guz, a Gymnom. Gymnome was a pre-FTL civilization that developed warp drive not long after Sol did, having studied Aquillian ships from a long abandoned outpost orbiting the gas giant Omen which shares Gymnome's orbit. Gymnome is under the protection of the IUR from Aquillian successor states, but not a full member at the moment due to nationalism and xenophobia, with Gymnomi seeing solid bipeds as creepily animalistic. With the exception of warp drive, Gymnome's technology, industrial and technological capability, and political arrangement resembles the early 21st century of the real earth.
Eaurp Guz was going to go into the Gymnom United Space Program, and had gotten so far as to be an intern, before changing her career to go to the Sol system to become a cosmonaut. It was the choice between maybe seeing a local gas giant or two out the window of a cramped space bottle, or seeing strange new worlds and new civilizations. Which is the better career choice, hmmm?
Guz is considered weird and strange and most humans write it off to her being a goo alien. In fact she is weird and strange among her own people. She disappointed her friends and kin on Gymnome by leaving, but she was always a weirdo even by Gymnomi standards.
Access to IUR library computers during her youth has lead to her being an absolute nerd, with a particular interest in the early spacefaring histories of known civilizations. She builds and keeps model kits of various rockets and launch vehicles and satellites. Those same computers also taught her and her peers about the oddities of gender, though it wouldn't be until she was actually around humans that she finally decided to try out gender herself.

Meet the Springans.
Springans is a portemanteau between spring gun and Spriggans, which are legendary creatures from the fairy tradition of Cornish mythology.
The "Springans" monsters are soot-based life forms wearing missile, torpedo, and cannon armor. Some, such as "Rockey", can fold their bodies into their respective weapons to attack. The bodies were built by Kitt and ferrijit. The thing is harr did not create the spriggans, therions and splights directly instead what happen was harr with Mardel created the energy that created them or the source of their existence. The energy is what allows beings of energy to manifest a physical form as both the therions and slights are made of electricity while the springgans are manifestations of dust, soot and ash. It was called the spark of life. Supposedly this energy is what made Frankenstein's monster come to life.
Meet Rocky
Rocky is not that smart. Rocky loves Kitt. Rocky loves to be launched. Rocky and the rest of spriggans live in a desert known as gulgonda. That place is much more dangerous than Sumeru desert as the threat of wormholes and a giant serpent. Rocky loves to launched like a cannon. Rocky has a built in self destruction device on his back. He is immune to the damage of self destruction and best described as this meme. Head empty only explode. Rocky cannot speak but has the fearlessness and carelessness from someone from Florida.

Meet Branga
Branga is that friend who is normally a yes to everything type of person. When he says no that is when something is wrong. Branga is described to be as himbo. Branga is fun loving person who wants to see people smile. He has an inherit love of wanting to see people and especially children to be happy. He loves fireworks. Can be surprisingly tactical in a game like warships or given a mortar. The reason why is that no matter how far he is he can for some reason hit the opponent. The thing his strategy is much more simple that you think. The strategy is to always aim where around the target as he the shock wave could always force the target to a tile he wants them to move in.

Meet Pedor and his brothers. Pedor is best described as tries to be cheer someone up but failing at it so horribly that it cheers the person up. His brothers and by extension all spriggans in this area love shiny objects and give you shiny stuff as gifts. They all have this thing when they are in their armors they see things as if they're pilotting a mech. They even have rockets that they can shoot. The rockets contain their brothers.

This is actually how the spriggans travel. They have a giant airship that has a largege springan inside. This is also the base of the tri brigade. It also can be prepared to blow. It can explode to be a nuclear bomb but that is only a last resort. Don't worry this does not appear in teyvat but this is stuff kit and ferrijit can make. Yes, the spriggans can survive a nuclear fallout as these beings do not need clear air but do need something to burn or or soot/ash to eat to live.

This is what happens when Spriggans Sargas combines with a therion in this case Regulus. This form can produce a large laser beam from the giant belt that can chuck an entire mountain out of existence.

Here is where they currently are. They all appeared in Inazuma they appeared near Yoimiya and her father's shop. They were scared of them at first but they were all able to warm up near Yoimiya. What happened was that there were some bandits and the spriggans were near an empty ruin guard and ruined hunter that had their cores removed. The spriggans were able to hot wire the two machines and used them selves as cores. The bandits ran away as they saw a literal ruin guard and ruin hunter activate. Yoimiya first thought they were yokai. Then word got out about it and it reached the tri brigade so Kitt went to investigate it. They went there on an airship. They were all able to reunite with each other. Some of them were fine staying here so Kitt, ferrijit and Shuraig stayed here. Kitt showed Yoimiya something about the spriggans. Kitt taught them how to dance. Kitt started to clap her hand and Spriggans in pairs started to square dance. Yoimiya used this as great idea for a carnival game.

Avro Shackleton bomber fitted with an air-droppable boat. Called "airborne lifeboats" they were dropped on survivors of water landings when weather didn't allow seaplanes to land.
Planes already carried emergency rubber dinghies to keep the men out of the water, but this boat had an engine and sails for propulsion, a manual to teach the men to sail, radio, waterproof clothing, rations, medical supplies, a self-draining deck to keep them dry, a fishing kit, and a screen to protect the men from the sun.
The whole package would drop with parachutes, upon landing gas bags similar in concept to an airbag would turn the boat the right way up, and lastly rockets would be launched that stretched lines out to sea for the survivors to grab.

Kids to Moon with help of toys
The idea of kids going to the moon may seem like a far-fetched dream, but with the help of toys, it can become a reality. From cardboard boxes to Building Blocks, toys can inspire children to dream big and explore the world beyond their wildest imaginations.
Let's start with cardboard boxes - the ultimate blank canvas for a child's imagination. With just a few markers and some creativity, a cardboard box can transform into a spaceship, complete with buttons, levers, and even a control panel. And when the countdown begins, kids can blast off to the moon, exploring the surface and collecting rocks along the way. Who needs a fancy rocket when you've got a cardboard box?
But let's not forget about Building Blocks. With their endless possibilities and interchangeable parts, Building Blocks can help kids design and build their very own lunar rover or moon base. They can even create their own spacesuits and helmets to protect them from the harsh environment of space. And once they're ready to launch, they can use their Building Blocks to simulate the rocket's launch and journey to the moon. The possibilities are truly limitless with Building Blocks.
The idea of kids going to the moon with the help of toys may seem like a silly or even impossible idea, but it's really just a reflection of the power of imagination and play. But it's not just about the toys themselves - it's about the lessons and skills that children can learn along the way.
Let's start with the little ones - Infants. Infancy is a crucial period in a child's development. During this time, toys provide sensory stimulation that helps infants learn about the world around them. Toys that promote visual and auditory stimulation, such as mobiles, rattles, and music boxes, aid in the development of a baby's sense of sight and hearing. Soft toys, like stuffed animals, also provide a sense of comfort and security to infants, as they often become attached to them.
As children grow and start to explore the world around them, their play becomes more exploratory and imaginative. Toys that promote exploration and problem-solving, such as blocks, puzzles, and shape sorters, help children develop their motor skills and hand-eye coordination. These types of toys also promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills as children figure out how to fit pieces together and build structures.
As children enter the preschool years, their play becomes more imaginative and social. Pretend play and dress-up become a popular activity, as children start to develop their sense of identity and role-play different scenarios. Toys that promote pretend play, like dolls, action figures, and play kitchens, aid in the development of social skills and emotional intelligence. Children learn how to express their emotions and develop empathy for others through imaginative play.
As children enter elementary school, they start to develop more complex skills and interests. Toys that promote creativity and expression, such as art supplies, musical instruments, and science kits, help children develop their unique talents and interests. These types of toys also promote self-expression and help children develop their self-esteem and confidence.
Finally, as children enter adolescence, they continue to develop their interests and skills. Toys that promote exploration and discovery, such as robotics kits, computer programming games, and building sets, help adolescents develop their problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities. These types of toys also promote a love of learning and encourage adolescents to pursue their interests and passions.
As kids get older, their toys start to reflect their interests and personalities. From video games to science kits to musical instruments, the sky's the limit. With the right toys and the right mindset, kids can learn and grow in ways that they never thought possible. And who knows? Maybe one day, the kids who played with cardboard box spaceships and Building Blocks will become the next generation of astronauts, paving the way for future space exploration.

80s and especially 70s rocket failures are understandable because computer simulation simply was not up to snuff. but you cannot be in 2023 CE and not be simulating the effects of thirty plus rocket engines on your concrete launch pad.
the money you are spending on building one of those engines could buy hundreds of computers kitted out with full aerodynamics and materials simulation software. why. fucking why.

So, when I was around 9-10, I got a physics play-kit thing. It came with a small pig on a rocket, which you were meant to launch out of a canon.
It was a cloudy afternoon, and I was in the livingroom playing with said play-kit. I prepped the pig on his little firework, and loaded him in the canon. I prepared an entire stunt for him, but when I pressed the "Launch" button, he did not go flying as he usually did. I, being a naive youth (havent gotten better with age, but whatever), I looked that pig in the soul to figure out exactly what had gone awry.
Then the pig launched directly into my eye, giving me the biggest black eye I've ever had. I sat on that hardwood floor and cried as my mother stifled her laughter and got me an ice pack. As I was crying, I sputtered out "I shot myself... in the eye... with a ROCKET PIG."
Now whenever someone gets hurt and tries to explain what happened, someone interrupts with "with a rocket pig?" almost uppon instinct. I've never lived it down.
Tell me about a joke that you and your family absolutely lose your shit over that other people would not get.
Tell me about the very unique way you pick on each other.
Or tell me about a pop culture reference your family will never let die and you’ve never heard any other family use it.
*chin on hands* I just love hearing these stories. (I’m obsessed with little loser microcultures like families and very niche fandoms) So lay it on me.
