The original backstory for the robot documentary AU was that Ratchet was plagued with visions of all of the ways Optimus dies, and fixates on the idea that Optimus can’t die if Orion never becomes Optimus, so he stages a crash on Earth to trap them both there. Bumblebee was hiding in the storage and Ratchet only discovered this after they had already left. Bee was also there in the visions of Earth and Ratchet wanted Orion to not have only him as company, so he went on with the plan anyways and just secured Bee in a bunch of seatbelts to be safe

Ratchet was also originally going to be a lot more off-putting, more cryptic like. But this plot was kinda confusing if they couldn’t even talk, and also I wanted Ratchet to be cute and silly, it’s kinda hard to do that when you’re in constant fear of visions of the future driving you insane. So now Orion is the cryptid lol

I also wanted to use the designs that were used once in the activity books for fun but I haven't been doing that lately so I forgot whoops

So I'm watching Love, Death & Robots for the first time, and I have the distinct feeling that there's just a smidgen of dramatic impact being lost on me Like, I imagine that the creators didn't wholly intend for me to see torsos being ripped in two and watch people forced into breeding with giant blood-drenched murderous bug entities and just going "Hot".

Arcane and Blue Eye Samurai compete for the best animated series I've ever seen, of all time, and they're both ongoing. That's wild. What gorgeous animation. Scavengers Reign is a wonderful sci-fi series that's actually original, and I'm sad to say that's a rarity. It shouldn't be! I'll let you discover the rest. Just a reminder that Love Death + Robots is an anthology, and as usually this entails hits and misses. But the hits are SO good.

Other good series that are not groundbreaking or anything in terms of animation (which is generally on purpose: most of them aim to emulate a specific established style, and succeed), but they still get the job done, and are fun to watch:

Star Trek: Lower Decks

Invincible

The Legend of Vox Machina

Dragon Age: Absolution

Love Death + Robots is wild because there will be this gutwrenching tale about what it means to be human, and then the next episode is self-indulgent military fetishization, and then the episode after that is like lol, what if yogurt was smart??

(Also, every episode needs a gratuitous amount of gore for some reason)
