*RDR2 Spoilers*
So I have just finished Marko Dragic's second mission in Red Dead Redemption2 and I have some thoughts.(keep in mind I haven’t finished the game yet)
At the end of the mission, Marko Dragic starts calling the robot his “son”. I find this really interesting because Arthur did have a son (Isaac) who unfortunately died, so here Arthur is listening to this mad man claiming he made “life”. He has a “son”, but keep in mind Marko Dragic made this robot to prove his doubters are wrong, not because he actually wants a family or craves companionship, but in spite of others. He made what he claims is life out of his egotism and resentment towards his fellow scientists and critics alike.
At some point in the game, you can find the robot alone in the snow on top of a mountain calling for its father. I’m not sure why or how it got there, but I take this to mean the robot has been abandoned by Marko Dragic, or it’s “father”(there are a lot of daddy issues in the game to ponder about)
But here is Arthur who made life organically, so to speak, who loved and protected his son even if that meant staying away from Isaac for long periods of time, only for all of Arthur’s work of trying to keep his son safe, the one person he loved unconditionally and who also loved Arthur unconditionally only to end up being taken away from him, to a place Arthur can’t follow and probably believes he can’t ever go to.
Anyway, I just think Arthur probably felt something when he saw all that.

Red Dead Redemption 2's Homage to Nikola Tesla: The Enigmatic Marko Dragic
Tumblr media
Red Dead Redemption 2, renowned for its captivating storytelling, delves into the lives of fictional characters while drawing inspiration from real-world historical figures. This interplay between fact and fiction is most evident in the game's extensive side content, where many of the Stranger characters bear striking resemblances to some of the era's most iconic personalities.
One of the most memorable Stranger characters in Red Dead Redemption 2 is Marko Dragic, an eccentric inventor driven by ambitious goals and an overpowering personality. The character of Marko Dragic is undoubtedly a nod to the real-life Serbian-American inventor, Nikola Tesla.
Marko Dragic's debut occurs during a Stranger side-mission known as "A Bright Bouncing Boy." In this initial encounter, players assist Dragic in showcasing a remote-controlled toy boat—an innovative marvel within the game's 1899 setting. Recognizing Dragic's brilliance, players are subsequently invited to his laboratory for a more profound interaction, where the parallels between Dragic and Tesla become abundantly clear.
Dragic's laboratory is an imposing structure nestled in the wilderness of Red Dead Redemption 2. It is equipped with an array of electrical conductors and lightning rods that unmistakably mirror Tesla's real-life experimentation site, the Wardenclyffe Tower. This tangible connection confirms the deliberate reference between Dragic and the esteemed inventor. Inside the lab, Arthur Morgan collaborates with Dragic on a series of electrical experiments, culminating in the creation of a robot that roams the game world after completing the quest.
Marko Dragic's Stranger mission stands out as one of the most character-driven episodes, offering players a comprehensive view of the uncanny resemblance between Dragic and Tesla. Nikola Tesla is renowned for his groundbreaking contributions to the field of electricity, often hailed as the father of modern electrical usage worldwide. Dragic's existence as an inventor, professor, and electrical enthusiast mirrors Tesla's pursuits closely.
The game's decision to reference Tesla can be attributed to the inventor's significance during the timeframe of Red Dead Redemption 2. In 1899, Tesla was approximately 33 years old, deeply engrossed in his pioneering work, much like Dragic. Although not explicitly stated, it is plausible that Dragic shares Tesla's Serbian heritage, given that "Dragic" is a Slavic name with deep Serbian roots.
As an added touch, Marko Dragic even bears a physical resemblance to Tesla. Both men are depicted with cropped black hair and facial hair, although Dragic sports a more pronounced beard compared to Tesla's mustache. Curiously, the Marko Dragic quest concludes with the character's demise, whereas Nikola Tesla lived on until the 1940s, passing away at the age of 86.
Nevertheless, the eccentric experiments and enigma surrounding Marko Dragic serve as a fitting homage to Nikola Tesla. The mission resonates with players due to its meticulous references to this renowned historical figure. Given Tesla's status as one of the brightest minds of the era depicted in Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games' decision

I am soon on Marko Dragic's mission on my current playthrough and it's just the superior stranger mission. Marko is such a weird and fun character with the most fun mission ESPECIALLY the second part is unique and ambient. Marko's fate is so sad yet discovering his true intentions is kinda staggering and the sight of the lonely robot on the deserted snowy mountains repeating the word "Papa" is so striking and sorrowful. I cannot forget the first time I found it which also was after many years since I found it as John. Truly the best stranger mission.

First Encounter
Tumblr media
Arthur meets Marko Dragic by the large pond in Saint Denis.
Tumblr media
Marko claims he can control the boat with waves you cannot see.
Tumblr media
Arthur ends up helping by controlling the ‘toy boat’ that fires torpedoes at toy boats in the pond.
Second Encounter
Tumblr media
Arthur arrives at Doverhill-
Tumblr media
Arthur looks for Marko Dragic (who is hiding, thinking Arthur is there to rob him.)
Tumblr media
Marko gives Arthur conductor rods to place outside.
Tumblr media
Arthur comes back after placing the rods. Marko pulls a switch but nothing happens. He sends Arthur to fix something at the top of the tower.
Tumblr media
Arthur flips the switches in the tower.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pulling the switch the second time-
Tumblr media
Lightning Strikes-
Tumblr media
The robot raises a hand-
Tumblr media
Before taking a few steps and falling over.
Third Encounter
Technically there are only two counters with Marko himself as the next time you come to the lab you’ll find him dead and his robot son missing. In the lab you can find two notes:
Tumblr media
Inventors Note (Left):
Invisible Waves
Ghost waves
Mystery waves
Magic Waves
Waves you cannot see
Inventor’s Plan (Right):
5 years -  Receive funding. Win top scientist prize.
6 years - 2 automaton. Make automaton factory
10 years - 100 automatons. Become very rich man
15 years - automaton army. Take over world
You can pick up the electric lantern beside Marko’s body that, when pointed towards the robot’s location, will glow red instead of orange. Following the light you can find the robot at the peak of mountain to the west of Colter (You’ll find footprints) sitting and saying “Papa?” a few times. (If you shoot it, it leans forward and its arm will stop sparking but the head will still light up.)

Met a crazy man in Saint Denis - a Professor no less. Marko Dragic. I'm still amazed by what I experienced. He had me control a tiny boat, remotely. How? I have no idea. I did not understand any of it, but even though he was annoying and a sharp mouth, he seemed obviously highly intelligent. Was I duped? I have no idea. Wouldn't be the first time I've fallen for the rantings of an intelligent man telling me how to think.
Tumblr media
Only he didn’t tell me how to think.
Whole thing was odd. Told me to come see him at his lab at Dover Hill.
MAYBE
Tumblr media
Went to the professor at his lab. He had build a sort of mechanical son. He seemed to think it was amazing but we could not get the thing to work properly. I was not half as impressed with him as he was with himself.
Tumblr media
Went back and someone or something had killed the professor. His mechanical creature had been stolen.
Tumblr media
Found the mechanical creature on top of a hill. Whole thing real strange.

On the topic of "obscure" ships I have to brag a little about Andrew Bell/Marko Dragic bc they're too damn cute. I love to imagine that Andrew is super clingy and lovey dovey while Marko tries to act cold but he's (maybe not so) secretly flustered and really likes it. Just OUUGHJK 💕💕💕💕
Also Andrew is Robot's stepdad
god their potential dynamic is SO good 🥺🙏💕 cheerful ditzy one x bitter grumpy one is always my fave, and I feel like marko would have a hard time hiding how endeared he is by andrew sjgkgjhk ALSO: andrew would hype marko’s work up so much. nobody else gets too excited marko’s inventions bc they don’t fully understand them but literally everything he builds makes andrew like
