“What’s the deal with you and Harrington?”
Robin Buckley glanced up toward the question asker, her brows slightly furrowed as she cast an inquisitive look toward Eddie Munson. He’s leant up on one of his elbows, chin cradled in the palm of his hand. His eyes are on her, large and curious, instead of the usual half-lidded expression he wears during the “adult” hangouts.
They’d all started hanging out ever since Vecna was destroyed, taking time away from the younger members of The Party to spend time all together. Herself, Eddie, Steve, Nancy, Jonathan, and Argyle. Sometimes, every once in a while, it led them all to feel normal. As if they hadn’t all been dealing with more Upside Down crap just a few months prior.
“What do you mean?” Robin instead asked, her eyes moving from Eddie’s to dart out toward the Harrington’s pool. Steve is sitting on the edge of it with Jonathan, the two boys heads bent together as Argyle watched on- a dopey almost lovesick expression curled on his mouth. A spliff dangled from Jonathan’s fingertips, rolled by Eddie but the weed supplied by Jonathan.
“You’re… not together.” Eddie’s voice is soft, and barely spoken above a murmur. Robin nodded slowly, and turned her head towards him to try and indicate him to continue. “Nancy and the kids all repeat platonic with a capital P, but I just… how did you and Harrington even happen?”
“Scoops A’hoy,” Robin grinned wide, barely able to stifle the laugh that’s on the backend of her words. She was able to catch the widened look that Eddie threw her way, before his eyes darted out to look towards Steve, before his eyes moved back to her own. “He and I worked there back when the mall was open.”
“And… what? You instantly became best friends?”
“No, actually.” Robin shook her head with another soft laugh, before she paused so she could rub her palms together. She allowed herself to twist one of her rings around her finger, brows pinched for a moment. “I actually thought he was like the worst, y’know?” Robin scoffed to herself, before she sent Eddie a look. She knew what she must look like, her eyes wet with tears and her gaze all permanently soft.
“You know how he was in school, King Steve and all that.” Robin continued on, and she flicked her tongue out of her mouth to wet the corner of her lips for a second. “And when my manager told me that I’d be working with a Steve, well… there was only one Steve in Hawkins I could think of.”
“So how did your opinion of him change then, Buckley?” Eddie cocked his head again, one of his hands coming up to twirl a strand of hair around his pointer finger. His brows were furrowed taut, creating a worry line in between them. “The kids told me about the Russians-”
“It was sort of before then,” Robin admitted with a small shrug, and she twisted the corner of her lip into a shy smile. “He raved to me, y’know? About uh, these kids. These five kids he’d babysit and shit, and it was so… soft?” Robin watched as Eddie mouthed out names to himself as he ticked his fingers, before he cast a look to her. “But he always talked about this one, Ellie, who he’d call his little sister.”
Eddie drew in a sharp breath, eyes wide as Robin let out a soft hum.
“Yeah, and I don’t know if you submitted yourself to Harrington family lore-” Robin gestured behind her toward the Harrington house with a flick of her hand, before she continued. “But I knew that Dick and Helen Harrington didn’t have more than one kid.”
“Supergirl?” Eddie asked softly, and Robin let out a soft confirming hum as she watched Eddie’s eyes dart toward Steve. Steve was still talking to Jonathan, though Argyle had shifted forward so he was able to join in the conversation.
“And then imagine my surprise when one day our stupid sailor ice cream shop is visited by none other than the Chief.” Robin shook her head with a small laugh, before she continued on. “And he was so excited to see Steve, Eddie. Like genuinely excited to see him, ordered a couple tubs of ice cream togo and then said he’d see him at home.”
“Fuck.” Eddie breathed out, and Robin let out another sigh of a laugh.
“And I asked Steve why the Chief of the Hawkins police force was visiting him at work, and Steve just…” Robin shrugged slowly, shaking her head to clear her thoughts before she continued. “He just gave me this look, like… like he didn’t actually know either.”
“Then later, he told me why he watched all of the kids. He told me that he would’ve given anything for someone to just… to just care about him when he was their age. That all he wanted was for just a person to give a shit about his wellbeing.” Robin shook her head again, before she carded a hand through her still chlorine sticky hair. “And after that my opinion just… it just changed about him.”
“Then the Russians?” Eddie asked softly, and Robin hummed as she dipped her chin in a curt nod.
“Then the Russians, and he didn’t… he didn’t even hesitate to take the attention onto himself when they started questioning us.” Robin shook her head again, sniffling. “And after I asked him why he would do that, and he told me it was because he knew I had a family waiting on me to come back home.”
“Fuck.”
“Yeah, and then afterwards when we were getting seen by the EMTs? He didn’t have anyone to call Eddie. Because Hopper? Hopper was just… just presumed dead.” Robin let out a soft bitter laugh, and she twisted a strand of her hair around her finger. “My parents decided to take us both home after, and he stayed with us for a couple of days- until his concussion was okay enough for him to sleep through the night.”
“And that’s when you became best friends?”
“That’s when I decided that, Steve? He deserved way more from people than he seemed to ever fucking get.” Robin shrugged, before she cast a soft smile toward Eddie. Eddie’s eyes were glassy, wet with tears and Robin just patted her hand soft against his forearm. “That’s when I decided that he was my best friend.”
“Platonic with a capital P?”
Robin cast a look toward Steve, where the older teen already had his eyes on her. He had a hand extended, fingers wiggling toward her in a small way to beckon her toward his side. Robin stood without responding to Eddie, and she left her towel on the lounge chair she’d commandeered as her own. She took a moment though, cast a softer look toward Eddie- even as the corner of her lip twitched into a nervous smile.
“He’s not exactly my type, y’know?” Robin kept her admission soft, even when Eddie’s eyes were quick to flood with confusion. She instead cast a look toward the sunbathing Nancy Wheeler, who had one of her arms strewn over her face across the backyard where she laid in the grass.
When Robin let her eyes move to meet Eddie’s again, he has a look of pure understanding on his face.
“I think I get what you mean.” Eddie murmured and Robin simply flashed Eddie Munson a shy smile.
Eddie Munson watched as Robin Buckley walked away from him, quick to tuck herself into Steve’s side once she reached him. Steve threw his arm around Robin’s shoulders, tucking her further into his grasp- though the flow of conversation that he was having with Argyle and Jonathan didn’t even pause.
It’s in that moment when Eddie Munson realizes something extraordinarily fucking crucial.
He’s in love with Steve fucking Harrington.

after the events of season 4, steve just wanting SO BADLY to be friends with eddie. just LOVING the idea of them getting closer and having eddie as a friend because hell yeah! a close male friendship with someone that is actually my age, and who i don’t have a weird history with involving bruised eyes and love triangles? count me IN! and eddie is FUN, he is actually hilarious! the way they share the same glances of understanding when dustin is being an absolute shit head, rambling on and on about some obscure topic, expecting everyone to always be on the exact same page as him. of course. and, although steve suspects that eddie actually probably is keeping up with everything dustin says, much better than he ever could, he knows that above it all eddie can appreciate the antics for what they are, and roll his eyes with steve at dustin, i concur, you dustin henderson, are a total butthead.
steve just about junps RIGHT IN to being friends with eddie. hey man, what’cha up to tonight? wanna watch a movie? get drunk, smoke a bit? hey eddie, how have you been, man? he starts calling eddie up on the phone regularly just to check in, shoot the shit, he loves it! he loves having this new friendship with eddie munson and he loves how much the other boy has surprised him with how much he actually enjoys being around him. he’s not a freak, really, well ok maybe he is a little bit, but only in the best ways. he’s kind, thoughtful, and is always looking out for the people he cares about, which is something steve can really respect in a dude. but he’s also so funny? steve never could’ve anticipated just how much eddie has managed to make him genuinely LAUGH over their short amount of time spent together. and he’s really, out there? with the way he presents himself, the way he takes up space with these big THEATRICAL movements, leaving no room for regret or shame or god forbid embarrassment. steve isn’t even sure munson is capable of feeling it at all.
eddie munson is a good dude, and steve could use a bit more of that kind of person around him. he loves all of his friends, the weird little bonded family he’s found himself apart of, and they are all good people, but it never hurts to have afew more added in here and there. it never hurts to know there are more good people out there to find.
so steve is all over eddie, it seems.
at least, from where eddie is standing. nobody else seems as phased as eddie does at this sudden change in steve’s demeanour, in his interest in what eddie munson spends his time doing these days. it seems like, to everyone else, to steve, it’s just a natural progression in their relationship, after being sort of role model figures to the same group of kids, both being the two single dudes, who fought the same monsters together last spring, it seems nobody questions too much that they’d start casually hanging around eachother more. especially since eddie has found himself to fit into his own special spot as one of the group now after it all, after he unwillingly became tangled in this whole upsidedown-superpowers-supernatural-monsters and demons debacle, and tangled quite dramatically at that, the rest of the group that’s been with this since the beginning seemed to find no trouble in taking him in and seeing him as “one of them” now.
so, steve asking eddie to smoke, to watch movies, to go for a drive with no real end destination, it’s not really something that earns them too many double takes. dustin makes a comment or two in the beginning, because steve since when did you like hanging out with eddie? you guys are like so opposite, you don’t like any of the same stuff he does? and steve barely gives a shrug and a dismissive yeah yeah whatever man in response, with a signature eye roll, and dustin had said it seemingly also not too seriously, poking fun at steve wherever he can, not really meaning anything by it, as he fidgets around and rambles in the backseat of steve’s car, eddie riding up front. after that, though, he’s dropped it. it’s never brought up again. part of eddie thinks, too, that dustin would actually be enjoying that his two older friends are becoming friends themselves.
robin seems to be the only other person to look a bit harder at their situation, lingering stares at their interactions, all squinted eyes and eyebrows raised, though from her all this seems to be almost always and only ever directed at steve. eddie’s not sure what to make of that. isn’t he the weird one? i mean, he’s the one that stands out, right? he’s the odd denominator that makes their friendship strange. why would steve harrington want to hang out with Him? HIM? but robin doesn’t spend her time studying eddie to try and search for what about him could possibly have piqued the interest of cherished steven harrington, no, shes always looking at steve. like she’s seeing him differently, almost. eddie doesn’t even think that steve notices it, either, because he doesn’t seem to be questioning or doubting anything odd or strange or out of the ordinary with their newfound time spent together. and maybe, maybe robin is seeing him differently. eddie knows he definitely has been. seeing him more, intensely. deeply. human. seeing the person that steve is, as just steve, not this idealised version of a boy that eddies starting to question ever really even existed at all, or if everyone around him just needed to believe that he did, and who was steve if not happy to comply to the wants of the people around him for who he should be?
eddie likes having steve as his friend, too. don’t get it twisted. he loves how unexpectedly expressive steve is about everything, even really small things. steve LOVES to raise his voice, rest a hand on his popped hip, scolding the kids for something stupid with no real heat or malice behind it. and steve is, like, kinda bitchy too. eddie knew he had the capacity to be a real asshole when he wanted to be, that’s all he knew steve for back in the day, when he was back in high school, hanging around tommy h and the basketball boys, the jocks. eddie would spend his days hearing only whispers and gossip in the hallways of the parties at king steve’s house and the fights king steve had started and won on the court or out in the fields, only ever getting as close as a shove into a locker with the guy at the time, but eddie knew how it could go. he knew all about what steve had done to jonathan, what he’d said to him, the words he’d used. eddie knew it all. he’d seen enough, and been through enough himself, to know how these guys acted in response to guys like him, like jonathan, people who were lower on the social food chain. so, eddie knew about steve’s “mean streak”, if you will, but this kind of snarky bitchiness was something new to him. harrington was almost, sassy, when he wanted to be. it was less so cruel and more just, just sass. if he’s being completely honest it kind of blew eddie away, at first. he thought steve was one of those dull headed jocks who thought with their fists more than their actual brains, but that couldn’t have been farther from the truth. steve’s insults were well thought out, they were FUNNY, he was smart with his words. and silly. oh my god steve harrington could be so fucking silly, real honest to god goofball when the moment called for it, when he felt comfortable enough. eddie had caught on multiple occasions steve mimicking lightsabers to play fight with dustin, or the stupid fucking shit he would do or say just to make robin laugh, singing along to a song playing on the radio with a funny voice.
it was all a little, intoxicating, to watch. eddie didn’t know what gave him the right to be in on this now, to get to see this side of steve and better yet to be at the other end of some of his best qualities. it was fun, all the time they spent together, but there was always something else tugging inside eddie everytime they spent close time together, too. something, he knew steve wasn’t aware of. something he knew steve wasn’t equipped to deal with. something he knew, was him. was him, making things something more than they should be, because, nobody seemed to be questioning that they could become friends, so why ruin that? why disrupt it?
- robin and steve
“Steve.”
“-but then like, it wasn’t that I didn’t want to watch it I just thought, hey, y’know, let’s try something different for a change, but then he- oh my god he honest to god TACKLED ME Robin — I mean, it was so fucking funny and it happened so quick — and all over a fucking Tom Cruise movie-“
“STEVE.” Robin lightly slammed a hand onto the counter. She had been standing behind it for no short of 20 minutes, watching Steve as he paced around, supposed to be stacking tapes onto shelves, but ended up spending the whole time going on and on, and ON, about how movie night went with Eddie last night. She thought she was bad…
Steve jumped, almost running into a shelf and knocking down his hard work, and seemed to snap out of whatever trance he had found himself in after starting to tell Robin a story about something funny Eddie had done last night.
“Shit, sorry. Sorry, what were you saying? Were you- were you saying something?”
To this, Robin just rolls her eyes and let’s out a laugh, “You, sir, are goddamn hopeless.”
“Sorry. How long was I talking for?” Steve wandered his way over to lean his arms onto the counter from the opposite side.
“Oh, I dunno Steve, just about half an HOUR?”
“That is an over exaggeration Robin, it’s only been like-“
“Honestly, man, i’m concerned for you. You are like next level OBSESSED with Eddie. Eddie Munson. You do realise this right??? You are obsessed with him, Steve.”
To this Steve sputters, lazily waving his hands back and forth.
“No, Robin, what the hell are you talking about? I am not OBSESSED. No need to be jealous, alright, Stevie-Boy here can have more than one friend. Your spot in my heart isn’t any less special now that it’s beginning to be shared by another.” He bats his eyelashes up at her, holding both hands over his chest as if to cradle his heart.
“Oh my GOD! You even SOUND LIKE HIM!”, she playfully slaps his shoulder. “Steve. You are obsessed.”
“I am not obsessed! He’s just a really great guy, alright-“
“Blah blah, yep whatever you say, lover boy.” Robin quips, plopping down onto the chair chair infront of their staff computer, turning herself to face it.
“Wha- what? Lover boy? What the hell Robin, that is not- that doesn’t even make any sense!”
She is just smiling at him now, enjoying seeing him spiral like this. Steve let’s out a sigh as he puts his hands on his hips, and shakes his head, looking at her right back.
He opens and closes his mouth afew times, like he’s really thinking about what he wants to say next. Or like he has no idea what to say next, and his brain is not moving fast enough to formulate the next sentence his mouth knows he wants to say. He wasn’t obsessed. That’s not- that’s like- no. No he was not, Robin was just playing around with him, she knew how to get on his nerves. Get him all wound up over little things just to see him react like this.
After a minute or two, Robin realises Steve was not going to reply anytime soon, so she turns fully back toward him. Saving him from his spiral.
“So, what are you’re plans for tonight Steve-O?”
He lets out a chuckle and walks around the counter till he’s behind it with Robin, leaning his back against it so he can stand across from her and face her.
“Well, not really sure. Parents aren’t home, no early shift tomorrow, might drink afew beers, listen to some music, —“
“See what Eddie’s doin?” Robin finishes for him, quirking her eyebrows up and down as she does it.
“Oh shut up!” Steve just laughs and softly throws a tape from the counter at her chest. “As a matter of fact, yeah I will see what he’s up to. Because we are friends now, Robin. Is that a problem? Actually I was also gonna ask you what you were up to after work, too, but you know what after this I’m having second thoughts, I mean, the way you’ve been treating me lately-“
“Oh my god, you are the worst. Yes, I’m free, of course I’ll hang out with you dingus. You and your tweedle dee.”
Steve laughs at this, then tilts his head.
“Wait, does that make me dumb? Tweedle dumb?! That’s how you see me?”
“Yeah it is actually, got a problem?”
“Oh wow, she’s feisty today. Can’t believe you think I’m dumb, Rob’s. When you come knockin’ tonight, do not expect a warm greeting at my front door.”
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll take my chances.”
- later. steve’s house. to be continued?

Robin’s favorite part of Steve becoming a dad (and there really are so many to choose from) is getting to hear about all the ways his kids are learning how to push his buttons (as they absolutely should – Steve wouldn’t truly be a dad if he wasn’t being driven half-insane by their ridiculous antics).
“What are your children up to today, Steve-o?” she asked during a routine phone call.
And Steve replied, “Well, Moe spent half the night in time-out for fucking walloping Robbie with a hardcover picture book.”
“Why?” Robin snorts.
“Never figured it out, but later when we made Moe apologize, she said Sorry for hitting you with a book – which, you know, fine, she could have stopped there, but then she said If you just do what I say, I’ll never have to hit you with a book again.”
“Jesus, she’s like a fuckin’ mobster.”
“Tell me about it.”
Another time, Steve told her, “I think I lost the battle with Hazel’s hair.”
Robin made a sympathetic noise, because she was very aware of Steve’s ongoing crusade to manage Hazel’s unmanageable curls (they're actually pretty manageable, from what Robin has heard, the problem is just that Hazel won't let him).
“This morning I told her we needed to brush it before school and I think her exact response was Don’t people want to see the real me?”
Robin laughs, “Oh man, she’s so cute.”
“Don’t worry – she knows.”
One of Robin’s favorite updates is when Steve tells her, “We had to figure out how to address Robbie breaking into Moe’s fucking Webkinz account and spending all her fake money on gifts for herself,” and Robin can’t help a gasp, because she’s heard all about this Webkinz craze and just how big a deal it is to elementary-schoolers like Steve and Eddie’s oldest daughters.
“Holy shit, she’s diabolical.”
“Yeah. I mean, Moe probably could have picked a better password than password. Kinda thought she was smarter than that, actually, but…lesson learned, I guess.”

A classic, old stand by. Mike and El consistently kiss and have romantic moments at night.
And their platonic
Or negative moments are in the morning
Whereas Mike and Will consistently have positive or romantic moments in the morning
With their only night ones being either negative for their relationship or goodbyes/something final (knowing or unknowing)
Also shoutout to the shed scene which I just realized is done at night despite being romantic because it is their last moment like that before El gets back!
Also makes me wonder about the ily2 scene, which takes place in the morning, and if that is, rather, emphasizing the fact that it's the first scene in the plotline of Mike's inability to say he loves her. That would make sense as, though it's played as romantic, we now know that it is starting a big plotline for the following season.
(If you're confused, mornings = new beginnings, night = endings is one of the oldest tricks in the book. So mornings is what will be their future and nights is what is/needs to come to a close. It's near universal, if not universal)
A great, direct example of this is also simply Mike saying goodbye to El at night and then staying up at the hospital to say hello to Will in the morning in 1x08. Establishes this really clearly for the audience.
Also, of course, can't talk about lighting without bringing up...
In general, seasons are typically ended in the morning with hints and lead-ins to the future seasons - with Mike, this is consistently El. The one time it ends with El, the season ends at night.
#byler lighting#elmike lighting#byler elmike contrasts#byler meta#now i'm thinking about everything#lucas and max have a moment at night because max is about to die#even their kiss is arguably justified at the snow ball because they become on again off again and then break up#only his 'i see you now' and 'i'm here's are during the day#with the sun then actively setting on mike after her first attack#honestly foreshadowing her death/coma#it makes me also wonder if the final battle will happen through the night and end in the morning#the original thought that sparked this post was that mike and will would not kiss at night or in darkness but in day or even sunrise#oh! mike and el also break up during the day! it's day in that clip!#sunrise/sunset#byler symbolism#symbolism#elmike symbolism#tbh because like i said it's just about universal we could do it with every night and day#joyce asks hop out at night but they get together in the morning in season 4#jonathan and nancy reunite in the morning#but steve confessed at night#robin and vickie in the morning!!!!

Spiderman au (stoncy)
Jonathan makes sure to check that the ally is well and truly empty before he pulls his mask up. Christ, he wouldn’t have become Spider-Man if he’d known how hot the suit would be. And not in the fun way people like to joke about. He chugs his water, and debates pouring some over his head. Sadly he needs it to hydrate. He slowly drinks the rest like a good superhero.
That’s still insane to him. Even after years of experience, he still sometimes thinks he’s going to wake up and it will all have been a bad dream.
Nancy told him she got into investigative reporting after her best friend went missing. She was found a year later, body deteriorating inside the restricted area of a government lab that had faces a chemical leak. A leak they tried their best to cover up.
Her first article is under someone else’s name. He’s read it. It’s incredibly good for a seventeen year old burning with righteous fury. It’s obvious that she was meant for this, built for finding the cracks and burrowing deeper until she pulls the ugly truth.
He respects her deeply. He just wishes that he wasn’t the crack she’s focusing on.
“You’ve spoken to him though, Jonathan,” she says, eyes pleading. “If anyone could get me an interview, it would be you!”
And have her recognize him instantly? No thanks.
“Nancy, seriously. He doesn’t want an interview.”
“But if I could just talk to him-”
“No, Nance.”
He knows her first regret will always be Barb. Her second, though? The ex-boyfriend who also went missing after agreeing to some extremely shady treatment for his terminal cancer. Unlike Barb, she never got closure for that one. She still doesn’t know what happened to him. She tracked him as far as the facility they’d taken him to, but it exploded long before she got there. Presumably with Steve inside.
He knows she still holds out hope. They never identified his body she’d whispered to him once after too many drinks at an office party. I checked the records. They don’t know for certain if he was still in it.
The next day she told him she knew it was a stupid wish. Even if the explosion hadn’t killed him, the cancer would have by now. But he knows Nancy. She’ll never stop wondering.
“So how’d you get yours?” Deadpool asks, swinging his legs cheerfully over the ledge.
“My Chimichanga? You gave it to me.”
He can practically see Deadpool roll his eyes behind his mask. “No, smartass. Your powers.”
That’s a loaded question. If he’s too specific it would be easy to find out who he is. But it’s not like it would be with anyone else, is it? Deadpool’s a hero too, no matter how much anti he puts in front of it. And they’re friends, or something like it. Friendly enough for him to let the other man slap his ass at least.
“I got bit by a radioactive spider.”
“No,” he gasps, whipping his head towards Jonathan. “No fucking way. Seriously?”
“I’m being completely serious!” He promises, starting to laugh. It really does sound ridiculous out loud. “I was on this field trip at the place my mom’s ex-boyfriend worked at, and it got out and bit me!”
“Field trip? Oh my God, you were a fucking baby. No wonder your mom broke up with that guy.”
That sobers him up quick. “He was actually a really nice guy,” he says quietly, looking down at his hands. “He, uh…he died, actually.” Saving my brother, he doesn’t say. The failure still bleeds in his chest. He should have been stronger. Bob didn’t deserve the way he died, ripped apart by the Green Goblin because they’d been after him.
His mom doesn’t blame him, but she should.
“Shit,” Deadpool swears, reaching towards Jonathan as if to comfort before thinking better of it and pulling away. “Shit, I shouldn’t have said that, sorry. Me and my big fucking mouth.”
“It’s more trouble than you’re worth,” Jonathan agrees, and ignores the protest that gets. “What about you? How’d you get your powers?”
Deadpool takes the deflect with grace, eager as Jonathan to get the awkwardness behind them. “Oh, me? Great story, you’re gonna love this. So I was dying from cancer, right?”
He wasn’t expecting that, almost choking on the chimichanga he’d taken a bite of.
“Gross, man. Chew it, don’t spew it.”
“You have cancer and you’re out here doing all this?”
“I had cancer,” he corrects. “Terminal. There was no saving me, yanno? And I…well, I got desperate.”
Jonathan sucks in a breath. He knows exactly what kind of things desperation lead to.
Deadpool huffs a laugh. “Yeah,” he agrees, even though Jonathan hasn’t said anything. “Stupid of me, I know. Shoulda just kicked the bucket like a respectable motherfucker. But no, I just had to track down some shady research facility that promised to try and find a cure for me. You know how that goes, right? But, well…” He raises a fist, dropping it slowly down before he opens it near his thigh, making an explosion noise with his mouth. “Rock fucking bottom, amiright? I was gonna die anyway. Why not add human experimentation to my bucket list?”
“So it worked?”
“So it worked?” He mimics, in a high-pitched voice that sounds nothing like Jonathan. “I’m still here, aren’t I?”
“How’d you get superpowers from it?”
“I was getting to that. So it worked, right? But the cure they used…it wasn’t designed to stop the cancer. Not really. No, what they did was turn me into a mutant. I’m basically an X-Men by now. X-Man? Point is, not dying did not come naturally. And once they brought it out of me, they made sure to test it. Again, and again, and again.”
Suddenly his chimichanga doesn’t look too good anymore. He hands it to Deadpool, who takes it with enthusiasm.
“Thanks, man, how’d you know I was still hungry? Anyway, I escaped, obviously. Took the whole organization down with me. By the time I left, whole building was in flames. Now I’m hunting down the survivors.” He takes a bite. “Y’sure you don’ wan dish?” He asks through a mouthful of food.
“I’m good.”
He swallows. “Your loss, I guess. This is fucking delicious. Sorry to be a moodkiller and run, but I’m afraid I have an appointment with a very small, very blind landlady. Toodles!”
He leaves Jonathan there at a loss for words. He can’t even make a sound to protest. All he can do is watch as Deadpool jumps straight down from the roof, only barely bothering to slow his fall so he doesn’t break his leg. Not that it would matter much if he did. Jonathan stays on the roof, processing, until he hears a woman cry for help a few streets away.
He hits his web-shooters. Crime never sleeps in the city.
It’s only when he’s in bed that he realizes he’s heard that story before.
The next time he sees Nancy, he’s a mess.
“You ready to shoot?” She asks, setting a coffee on his desk with a smile. It falters when all he does is stare back. “Jonathan?”
Ready to shoot? Right. Photography. His job. His job he works at with Nancy. Nancy, whose ex-boyfriend may or may not be the guy who has slapped his ass and flirted with him on numerous occasions. Fuck. He’s going insane. He’s losing his fucking mind. Deadpool probably isn’t even Steve and all this will be for nothing.
“Your ex-boyfriend,” he blurts out. She rears back, startled. “He had cancer, right?”
“Steve?” She shakes her head, not in disagreement but in confusion. “What does he have to do with anything?”
“Did he?”
Her mouth twists in displeasure. He doesn’t blame her, that was a terrible fucking way to start “Hey, your dead boyfriend might not be so dead after all!” He wishes he could bang his head on his desk without cracking the table. “I’m not talking about this.”
“Nancy, wait,” he starts, and she shakes her head again.
“I’m going to see if Fred is free, actually,” she says, and hurries away. He groans, and lets his head fall onto his desk anyway. One tiny crack won’t matter, right?
It’ll fit in with all the others.
Nancy avoids him for the next week. By the time he sees Deadpool again, he’s even more of a mess.
“Spidey!” He greets, blood dripping off his sword. “I know I ask this every time, but I just gotta check, man. You seen anyone named Brenner around?”
“Still a no, sorry.”
He sighs, wiping off his blade before sticking it back in the sheath. “Worth a shot.”
“Do you ever talk to people from your old life?” Jonathan blurts out. “Before you became a superhero?”
Deadpool shrugs nonchalantly, but he can’t pass off the tension in his shoulders. “They all think I’m dead,” he says. “It’s better that way.”
“Didn’t you have a girlfriend? Or friends? Parents?”
“Friends, not really. Parents, no. Girlfriend…she’s better off this way.” He says, counting on his fingers. He laughs bitterly. “I stopped talking to my parents before I even got diagnosed, and my only friend was my girlfriend. I dumped all the other ones for being assholes after…well, some shit went down, and they were real dicks about it, that’s all I’m gonna say.” He turns to Jonathan, suspicious. “Why the third-degree?”
“What’s dying like?”
“Pretty chill, actually,” he says. Jonathan turns to look at him, and he gets the impression Deadpool is grinning. “Don’t get me wrong, the dying part? That fucking suuuuuucks. But Death itself isn’t so bad. I usually just chill with Her for a while before She sends me back.”
“...Her?”
“Oh yeah, The Lady loves me. We’re besties.”
“You’re besties,” he repeats flatly. “With Death.”
“What? Like that’s so hard to believe, Mr. Radioactive Spider?”
He’s got him there. “What’s Death like then? The…Lady, or whatever.”
“Well, first of all, she’s a massive lesbian.”
Jonathan should have known nothing that came out of his mouth would be fucking normal. “I’m leaving.”
“No, wait!” Deadpool grabs his arm. “I’m being serious! Death is a lesbian, she loves birds and prefers to go by Robin, and we’re apparently soulmates.”
“…are you a girl?”
“No?”
“That doesn’t make any sense.”
“C’mon, Spidey, open your mind.” If he could see his face, he knows that bastard would be smirking at him. “We’re not romantic. She actually hated me at first. I mean we’re literally tied together by the universe. Whatever souls are made of, hers and mine are the same.’
“Is that Emily Bronte?”
“Look who paid attention in high school english!”
He misses his bed.

I can totally imagine season 5 being a speed run of seasons 1 and 2 Stancy-wise, where Jonathan and Steve bond and Jon is like “I need to work on myself and focus on family and I know you still love her” or whatever and then Nancy and Jon talk and lovingly break up with no fuss and then Steve and Nancy talk and Steve is like “look I am sorry about what I said in the upside down, I thought I was about to die and I know you’re with Jonathan and I don’t want to rush you and maybe we can just be friends” and she’s like “shut up and kiss me” and they have steamy pre-final battle sex, effectively bookending their arc in a symmetrical way. You just know it’s happening!
#now the question remains#will Steve live or die#and will they flash forward two years and Nancy is pregnant for some stupid reason already#because they always skip forward in time in the final episode post big fight#but I want Nancy to go to school and not be a mom right away#so if they both live and are endgame I’d much rather them be shown living together#OR what if they zoom past college and it’s like five years later#anyway idk what will happen but I’m betting heavy on this#I want them to have juicy emotional dialogue#and if it doesn’t happen I’ll write it myself!!#and you know Robin would be smirking and calling Steve lover boy while he blushes oooh#steve harrington#stranger things#nancy wheeler#stancy#I kinda want it ya know

Vanilla
Robin Buckley x female!reader
Had to write a small blurb for my best girl for Pride 💕
Contents: fear of homophobia (brief), no use of y/n. This is just pure fluff really
Robin smiled as you laughed at the joke she had said. She was worried you would think it was stupid or not funny or that you wouldn't get it and then she'd have to explain it snd then-
Her anxiety made her overthink often. Especially when it came to you. Robin didn't want to seem like a loser to you, like she has at school. Or just a band geek. You were so smart in her eyes, even if you claimed you weren't. She wanted to impress you. While she loved learning languages, it released a new fervor in her when you had told her it was "so cool" and smiled at her. You were learning sign language from her, something Steve and her had started learning after he had started to go deaf. Robin loved teaching you and having an excuse to touch your hands, molding them into the correct shape.
"Robs? Where'd ya go?" Your voice breaks her out of her thoughts. She turns her head on her pillow to look at you. Laying on your side, hair unkempt from your usual style. The smile on your lips. Robin turned onto her side, facing you. A piece of hair fell into her eyes, blocking her view of you. She went to move it and-
You push the hair behind her ear, hand trailing lightly down her jaw before retreating back towards the middle of the bed. The scent of vanilla from your wrist filled her nostrils. She hated that smell, only because of how it made her think of you. The thought of how sweet you smelled...how sweet you must taste. Her face flushing making you giggle slightly. "You're as red as a strawberry, Robs."
Robin opened her mouth but no sound came out. Your brows wrinkle as you take her in. Usually, Robin would be rambling by now. You loved listening to her talk, oblivious to the fact she was rambling to distract herself from thoughts of you.
But not this time. This time, Robin couldn't help but think of you. How much she wanted to hold you close. How much she wanted to kiss you. How she would gladly show you off if it wasn't small-town Indiana in the 80s. Robin wasn't even sure how you would react. She would rather suffer in silence being in love with you then have you walk away from being her friend.
"Robs?"
Robin smiled softly at you, trying to shake the forlorn feeling that had descended on her. She gently rests her hand on top of yours. "Do you ever think...of things you know you can't have?" She asks quietly. "What do you mean?" Robin looks up into your eyes. Your eyes conveying curiosity, but also warmth and safety. She clears her throat,"Like...someone you can't have?" You blink at her and hum," like a celebrity or someone famous?" "I mean yeah but like someone...closer? Someone you want to be around all the time. Who's beautiful."
You frown slightly," oh. You have a crush on someone?" Robin feels the warmth in her cheeks rising again, knowing she's gone red. "Who do you like?" You ask quietly. Robin bites her lip and you lightly kick her," Why can't you have him?" "Because it isnt a him...its...you." Your eyes widen in shock and you pull back.
Robin's stomach sinks and she clenches her eyes shut. Your hand moves out from under hers. She can feel her eyes start to water. She shouldn't have said anything, she should have stayed quiet.
Robin feels her hand get flipped over before a palm touches her. Fingers intertwine. "You like me too?"
Robin's eyes snap open and she gasps. The hopeful look on your face makes her heart pick up speed. "Yes! You like me too?" A laugh escapes her lungs as she squeezes your hand lightly. Your smile spreads across your face as you squeeze her hand back," Yes!" "Holy shit!"
You both laugh and smile at each other before she shuffles closer to you. Her eyes dart to your lips. Your hand tentatively returns to her jaw, thumb grazing her cheekbone. Robin thinks her heart is going to jump out of her chest. The butterflies that had been fluttering their wings in her stomach are now flying around wildly. Robin leans in, inhaling slightly.
The scent of vanilla floods her senses. The feeling of lips touching hers. A quick soft kiss, leaving her yearning for more. A gasp that escapes you as she kisses you firmer. Mouths moving together. Tongues darting out. Hands still intertwined between the two of you. The feeling of your hand on her jaw moving back into her hair, pulling her closer. Robin's free hand grasping your hip, pulling you closer. The unmistakable sound of lips smacking, gasps, and moans fills her ears. When you two part, you both are breathless.
She isnt sure how long you two had kissed, a few minutes or a few hours could have passed. But this moment in time is one she will never forget. You, smiling sweetly with swollen lips. Hands still intertwined. Giggling. Warmth spread within Robin's stomach. The scent of vanilla enveloping you.. She loved the scent of vanilla. The scent of home.
#Oh to lay in bed next to your loved one and kiss them silly#Oh to hold hands and confess your love#Robin's gonna go into work and dunk on Steve being unable to get a girlfriend and be like WELL I CAN BITCH#Steve's gonna be snarky but congratulate her...later takes you out and threatens you that you better not break her heart#You aren't sure if you are jealous your girlfriend has a ride or die that isnt you or mad that he thinks you would hurt her#You become friends after which Robin is eternally grateful to the universe both of her soul mates one romantic one platonic get along#Robin Buckley#Robin Buckley x reader#Robin Buckley x female!reader#Robin Buckley x you#Robin Buckley x y/n#Robin Buckley/reader#Robin Buckley/female!reader#Robin Buckley/you#Jade is Talking

Unpopular opinion but if Steve dies I want Robin to live. No dying together or anything. Robin's character development has a lot more potential if she lives.
#also steve is not a pharaoh from ancient egypt he doesn't need his gay best friend to be killed and buried w him 😭#i get people saying they'd want them both to be together in life or death and i respect that. i have no problem with that.#i just don't share it. i think it'd be a lot more interesting if steve ''passed on the torch'' to robin. she's the babysitter now.#final scene in which Robin drives Dustin to prom and gives him a lot of terrible girl advice?? c'mon that would make me cry so bad#Robin wooing a girl following Steve's advice. also beautiful#Robin bonding with Nancy over losing their respective best friends!! becoming best friends together after that#i also just dont want the gay character to die. she barely had a story in s4 beyond solving puzzles and her ''character arc'' consisted of 2#or 3 scenes in which she likes a girl and acts nervous about it. robin was done dirty she needs more development and killing her off just so#that steve won't be alone in the afterlife isn't what she needs

part two of this original ficlet
-
It’s a couple days later when Robin Buckley is in Steve Harrington’s bedroom when it fully hits her. That this boy, not much older than she is- is her best friend. There’s a million universes out there, Robin is one of the ones who believes in that fully and completely. Every little change splitting off and dividing, creating and creating and creating.
Robin, however, can’t even begin to imagine the universes where she doesn’t know Steve. Doesn’t know him fully and completely and as absolutely wholeheartedly as she does. Can’t imagine that there are galaxies where she doesn’t know him as well if not better than herself sometimes.
But he’s hers here.
“Do you want to move in?” Steve’s question is soft spoken, and Robin is quick to turn to catch his eyes in her own. He’s leant up against his desk, a Rubik’s cube in between his fingers. His head is cocked slightly, eyebrows furrowed as his eyes and Robin’s meet. “Rob?”
“Yeah?” Robin allowed herself to grin, a shy and slow curve of her lips, even as she pushed her statistics homework off of her lap. Steve nodded once then twice, a sharp bob of his chin that was so firm it almost caused his chin to make contact with his chest. “You want me to move in with you, dingus?”
“Yeah,” Steve murmured, soft and sweet, before he tossed the Rubik’s cube toward Robin. She didn’t catch it, she never could really, but it did land in her lap- completely solved. Robin plucked it into her hands, set about messing it up again, so Steve could solve it. “I wanted to ask, since I know you’re eighteen now and-”
“And since my parents still think all of this was an earthquake?” Robin supplied knowingly, before she threw the Rubik’s cube back to Steve. He caught it from the air with his left hand and shyly nodded, before he set about solving the puzzle cube once more. Robin is quiet for a second, just before she continues on. “What about yours?”
“My parents?” Steve asked with a slight furrowed brow, his head cocked slightly to the side. Robin let out a soft hum, though nodded when she saw that Steve hadn’t heard her well. “They uh, aren’t coming back to Hawkins, Rob.”
Robin felt her heart lurch as she rubbed her palms along her jean clad thighs, brow instantly taut as she eyed Steve. He had diverted his eyes, eyes now focused on the way he moved the Rubik’s cube. She had never been good at those, really, and had doubted Steve’s ability in solving them when he first brought the thing into the back of Scoops A’hoy.
That was, of course, until she saw this.
The modes where Steve’s brain whirred by him too fast, his past of dealing with the Upside Down heavy on his shoulders. No matter the jokes the kids tended to make in Steve’s expense, he really wasn’t an idiot. Not when it came to puzzles, at the very fucking least.
Robin shook her head, wiggling further onto the carpet to be able to extend one of her legs. She hooks her ankle around Steve’s, smiling a little bit softer when he immediately eased into the touch. His shoulders stopped being tense and up by his ears, easing down to their natural resting point. Robin let’s it stay quiet for a beat, then two, before she starts to speak again.
“I love you.” Robin let herself murmur the words easily, even when Steve’s eyes are immediately glassy and soft. His brows furrow and she let her own furrow back, a mirror image to his. “Like this all-consuming aching love that I’ve never felt for anyone. Not like this.”
“Robbie-”
“No, let me get this out there.” Robin shook her head quickly as she scrambled forward, coming to kneel at Steve’s side. She cradled his cheeks in her hands, thumbs curled against his cheekbones as she tilted his chin up so his eyes would be met with her own. She knew what she must look like, like she’s on a warpath. (And in her mind, she is.) “I don’t think I have ever loved someone as much as I love you, dingus.”
“You are it for me, Steven Richard Harrington. You are my soulmate, and you-” Robin let herself sniffle, let Steve cradle her own cheeks in his palms. He mimicked the way she held him, hands gentle and thumbs cradling softly against her cheekbones. His thumbs brush even softer under her eyes, sweeping away tears Robin knew had managed to come out. “You deserve someone to tell you that every fucking day, and if it has to be me saying it to you for it to sink in… then so be it.”
“I love you, Robbie.” Steve’s own voice is wet and almost muffled sounding, brows still taut as his eyes shimmer with his own unshed tears. Robin makes sure to be gentle as she pressed her fingers harder into Steve’s face, squeezing his cheeks as she meets his eyes intently.
A beat passed. Then another. Robin let Steve stare unabashedly into her eyes, even when his own softened at whatever he had found inside of them.
“What?” Robin is almost scared to ask the question, even as Steve’s smile twitched at the very corner. Steve hummed softly, thumbs doing a final swoop up Robin’s cheeks, before he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “Dingus?”
“You like Nancy.”
The statement is enough for Robin’s hands to fall off of Steve’s face, and she could feel the way her jaw slackened slightly. Steve is smug, almost, in the way he leaned further against the base of his desk as Robin scrambled backwards. He’s even quicker though, catching her ankle with his own- and causing her to land with a thud onto her butt that’s only minimally softened by his carpet.
“How did you-”
“You’ll find, that I’m one of the ones that knows what being in love with her is like.” Steve’s voice is soft, but there’s an edge on the back of it that caused Robin to swallow. Robin isn’t sure what fluttered hard in her stomach and chest, an ache of a feeling that caused her mouth to go dry and her brows to furrow. Steve licked at the corners of his mouth for a second, fingers flying faster as he turned and twisted at the Rubik’s cube. “And I just… let me say this, yeah?”
“Yeah.” Robin heard her voice croak, and she couldn’t help but feel as if she’s swimming in molasses as she watched Steve. His shoulders are up closer to his ears again, before he seemed to make the conscious decision to lower them. After a beat, the Rubik’s cube is solved, and Robin lets him toss it into her lap again.
“I don’t care that you like her at all, really.” Steve’s voice is soft and his words are spoken with a slow tilt to them, brows still furrowed as his bottom lip is pulled between his teeth. Robin watched him worry at it for a bit, before he let it go and began to speak again. “I was in love with her, I know, and she broke my heart in two-”
“Dingus-” Robin tried softly, but she let herself be cut off when Steve shook his head sharply. She instead, tossed the once more scrambled puzzle cube his way- and watched as he began to solve it again.
“If she…” Steve shook his head once, then twice, before his eyes met hers. There’s something there that’s lurking in them, a steel glimmer to them that Robin hasn’t seen before. He’s never really like this with her, not pulling on his King Steve persona like a personal shield again. “If she hurts you, Rob? Whatever friendship between her and I that’s somehow been salvaged? It’s… There is… I don’t care for a lot, not really anymore.”
Steve paused for a beat, shaking his head as he sniffled. He continued, speaking quieter and focused on his hands as he let the Rubik’s cube fall to his carpet.
“But if I ever have to chose between you and her? Rob, I’m going to pick you every time. And I want to be selfish and ask if you’d pick me too.”
Robin felt the tears then, hot and almost burning against her cheeks. Steve scrambled forward almost immediately, and Robin let out a gross even to her ears sounding sniffle as she let him cradle her to his chest. Robin reached up then, fingers searching and digging, pulling Steve closer to her. They entwine easily, and Robin can’t help but immediately think of Greek mythology.
There’s a story, one her mother used to tell her in place of fairytales. Of how the Greek philosopher, Plato, believed that humans used to have four arms and legs, and had two faces. Her mother always told it best, of how Zeus had deemed humans too prideful and split them as a form of punishment. Humans destined to walk the Earth searching for their other half, for their soulmate.
When she was little she used to think it would be romantic.
She knew better now.
She knew better because here she had Steve. And she may never get the chance or even the balls to tell Nancy Wheeler how she feels.
(That there are times where Robin looks at Nancy, and envisions a life where they are incandescently happy. Times where Robin can remember the burn and ache she felt for both Tammy and for Vickie, but that even together they don’t amount to what she feels for Nancy. That there are times where all Robin can do is just fucking wish and—)
She may never have a romantic soulmate.
Maybe it’s not in the cards for her in this reality, maybe that’s only something she can have in a different universe. Strangely, a part of her is okay with that.
Because here she has Steve. Here Steve has her.
And they’re SteveandRobin and RobinandSteve.
Two halves of a whole split by a God in a fit of rage, but somehow against all the odds they have managed to find each other and conjoin again.
Robin kept her voice soft as she pressed a soft kiss to Steve’s chest, and she left her lips there as she mumbled her next words. They’re the only words that fit, even though she wished she could bare her soul and mind completely, let him read and take his fill. Let him be comforted by her love.
As complete and unconditional as it is.
“I’d chose you in every fucking lifetime, Steve.”
It’s quiet for a moment, and Robin squeezed her fingers more intently against Steve’s shoulders. Steve is quick to mimic her, giving Robin a few quick pulses of his fingers, before he spoke up after a beat.
“I think I have a crush on Eddie.”
Robin can’t help but explode into laughter.
Steve followed with his own shortly after.

the duffers were cowards for not killing hopper, but I get it because I'm also unable to commit to killing any of the main characters in my planned rewrite
#personally i'm torn between killing off hopper and having my hypothetical S5 be centered around a jopper wedding#as an excuse for why all of the characters are in one place again#i think characters do need to die to add weight to the show#especially because some characters are just hanging around with nothing to do#but man who would you even kill off?#one of the kids? heartbreaking#they can't kill nancy because she's a girl boss i guess#if they kill robin they'll be judged for burying the gays#so of the older teens steve and jonathan are the only options#but I doubt they'll kill steve at this point#murray can go#joyce is safe I'm sure. and they can't kill hopper after faking out his death last already#alisha watches stranger things#alisha babbles

In Clays and Creams and Yellow Music is now on ao3
Robin is gay, is the thing. She always has been.
She remembers being very small and watching the way girls skirts twirled around their knees, the way their hair would brush they collarbones and get stuck on their mouths, lips sticky with gloss and— his hair has grown out, is the thing. Since everything. Since it's all been over. He hasn't gotten it cut.
Used to be every three months like clockwork, the minute it would start brushing his shoulders. And she'd asked him once, why he bothered when it looked so nice longer. He'd tensed up, facing away from her, hands still poised above the register. And then his shoulders had dropped, all at once, forced like, and he’d shrugged. Told her he didn't like the feeling of it brushing his shoulders. He hadn't looked her in the for the rest of their shift.
She doesn't think she believed him then, either, but she hadn't known what to say to him about it (years later, in the quiet dark of their apartment, he will tell her about his first hair cut and his father and the way his hair brushing against his shoulder's made him want to cry and how confusing that was because it was from happiness and from fear and sadness and some weird twisted second-hand form of disgust (and she knows if she ever sees Harrington senior again she will absolutely break her fucking hand for the sheer pleasure of popping him one right in his great big nose.))
So, yeah. His hair is getting long, and the longest bits reach past his shoulders, now, and the front pieces are falling just past his chin, with this one extra short bit— lifted by his great big swirling cow’s-lick— tickling his cheek-bone. And he’s stopped swooping it up with too much hairspray, lets it fall soft and wispy around his face instead— and the door opens, bell jiggling, and he smiles at the pretty girl on the other side of the counter. All big and flirty-like, that one that shows off his one crooked incisor and it makes her stomach twist uncomfortably and she feels sick with it. But Steve is talking with his hands now, fingers flying as he explains the plot of whatever movie he’s recommend, and she can see the way the girl tracks them, nose wrinkling, and that makes Robin's stomach twist for a whole other reason, sinking like a rock in her fucking abdomen, tugging at her diaphragm until she can't breathe with it either. Because really, Steve’s picked up a lot of that from her and Eddie, the way he flourishes his hands. But Eddie knows better than to really do it much in public, and he’s created the kind of personae that it wouldn’t matter even if he did but Steve doesn’t have that, and he doesn’t even really know.
But Steve is ringing her up now, and they’re both smiling and the girl is thanking him and—it’s fine, really, it's all fine.
Except that now Robin's looking at his hands too, all cluttered with rings, which he's slowly been collecting for the past month now—two months? All delicate weaved silver and floral motifs, one with a small inset amethyst and one with weaving ivy (from Robin) and another, the only chunky one (one of Eddie’s)— an old signet style ring with a heavy lined moth, weighing down his pinky-finger in tarnished silver. And his nails— they’re painted. A soft pink clear coat you can barely see, except for when it catches the light just right and the florescent bulb shines in arcs across them. He'd had Robin repaint them Saturday night, after the girls had left, from a bright yellow ( his favourite colour) to this ‘so he could still wear it into work’. (When pressed he had simply stated that he'd promised El, and then, in a much quieter hushed kind of voice, that he thought it would be good for Will to have some positive roll models.) They're well cared for, Robin knows, and by turns soft and rough—slightly callused from years of sports and swinging his dumb bat at dumb terrifying monsters, but he has this whole drawer full of fancy creams and she knows that he trims his cuticles, files his nails until they are a perfectly shaped oval—
“-obin" Steve is looking at her now, head tilted to the side with that soft exasperated Robin-smile he saves just for her. "Robs?" he says again, and he laughs softly when she just blinks at him, it makes something in her stomach clench painfully. She feels sick. Is she sick? She wonders if this is all some sort of fever induced hallucination and— Steve is looking worried now, stepping closer with that little furrow between his brows, one hand lifted like he's thinking about pressing it to her forehead to check her temperature and— is he wearing lip gloss what the fuck? But— no. Steve is not allowed to look worried.
He's worried so often— about her and the kids and Eddie and even Nance and Jonathan, and there's absolutely no need for him to be looking like that right now, not about whatever is happening inside Robin's head because its nothing. So she laughs and pokes at his forehead, and he swats at her hands, still kind of frowning at her, and she knows he's still worried.
“I'm okay, Stevie, really” she says, and then he goes a little pink, the way he always does when she calls him that, fond and pleased, and he squeezes her hand tightly between his.
"You looked a little warm, are you sure?" and she doesn't stop him from pressing the back of his hand to her cheek, forehead, neck until he's satisfied. He smells like the lavender he puts on his temples before bed and like something else sweet and musky and floral. Fuck.
"See?" She says, and squeezes his other hand where they're still clasped by their sides. “All good."
He hums, still looking her over. "Alight, but let me know if that changes okay? We’re closing early to day to help out at the middle school, so I can always drive you home and then come back to finish closing up on my own.” And then he's back to work again, squinting at the computer screen and typing with his painfully slow two-fingered jabs.
And Robin's gay, is thing. She always has been. She likes women, or at least, she doesn't like men.
But Steve is—
Well. Fuck.

I think it's interesting how by now everyone you talk to that watches st is so sure Steve is dying next season but i personally think it would be the laziest conclusion to his arc because it essentially just gives in to his martyr tendencies and says yeah they're right actually the best thing you could do for others is die protecting them which is lazy and boring but then again eddies death was lazy and boring so whom knows
i agreeee i think atp at least personally when i say i think he's going to die it's inevitable and easily visible on the horizon in the .. Bad way. the secondary horror story of stranger things for me is they will never take steve seriously and with that they will clumsily kill him because, Inevitably, they think he exists to be used and not to just to Be... he is a narrative function and means to an end and proverbial punching bag of comedy and being a guy with a car and he was born to die from his very conception UGH. so erm i think everyone is in the acceptance stage of grief and have very little hope for his storyline having a satisfying conclusion that doesn't betray his character at least to us which is very doom and gloom i agree... if he dies it'll suck, the duffers suck, so why wouldn't he die...
HE WILL LIVE FOREVER
like yeah he could die but atp i'm not SO SURE either !!! and i'm a very positive thinking person but i also don't think there's a way for him to die that i can think of at least that would be ... not clumsy. or like. well-written. both solid and heart-felt and with the necessary forethought and depth that a character death should (should) have that affects the plot in a satisfying way but doesn't overtake it cloyingly and lean too heavily this side of If it's cold i'd like to die heartstring teasing BUT showcases importance and emotional impact nonetheless. but they could surprise us. and he could just not die either. i think we need to stop putting the energy out there or something or mourning early for a ghost in the narrative who is ALIVE!!! my poor little boy
i think he could survive for sure i also think if u take into account just What steve harrington is to the show itself i know that they themselves are definitely cognitive to that if they kill him people would be to put it lightly upset (and have capitalised off of this steve-can't-die hysteria in the past!!! those BILLBOARDS man 😭). i don't think they would want to take that gamble and i know they're well aware and are reportedly conscientious of the conclusion to this show being satisfying, both in story and in strong character endings that feel .. loyal? and i think they are also SELF aware enough to realise like no if they kill the fan favourite people people are not going to fondly remember it LOL. like in a erm .. media rich perhaps fickle society where the finale can make or break the dime flip dichotomy of Beloved Pop Culture VS AWFUL ENDING WASTE OF TIME!!! i think they're definitely capable of either folding to the pressure of a good ending or at the very least attempting to land something bittersweet (like a death) that doesn't feel trite and hollow. though i will also say once again if they make him marry nancy or become a cop i would rather he drop dead in the first episode and is never mentioned again no character death can beat Death of The Character.
#asks#i did not think this would get so long my bad#tbh steve is not my number one who i think is gonna die i think one of the other older teens will 😭#i think they float steve as a red herring or something TOO often#JONATHAN dying would be shocking... or robin#and like yeah robin has ... bury ur gays protection sure but when has that ever stopped anyone ever that is literally the entire thing#sts#i also think will dying could very well happen or maybe even joyce ..? i dunno

The most important relationship in Robin's life is her friendship with Steve and always will be. Die mad
idk buddy it seems like you're the one who's actually really mad that someone doesn't give a shit about a spoiled mediocre cishet white man and thinks that maaaaybeeeee the show should explore the one lesbian's relationships outside of the one spoiled mediocre cishet white man she's been shackled to since her introduction. idk tho.
#this is a steve harrington hate blog and i won't apologize for it. die mad?#and no disrespect to maya hawke but lol we've had two seasons of their friendship getting airtime. some variety would be nice.#like this isn't even avout me being a rockie fan. it's about how every other character has multiple friends outside of their romances.#ok maybe not really jonathan but at least he has his family AND he does have some relationship with will's friends#all robin is allowed is her one spoiled mediocre cishet white man bestie and her crush? nah son#also steve is bones#like robin and nancy start making headway into a friendship but robin spends half the time implying she should get back with smchwm?#because they've made it so robin's character revolves around steve. giving steve advice he doesn't listen to. matchmaking for steve.#even when she starts flirting with her loce interest in the end they spend twenty seconds on steve's reaction.#robin isn't allowed to have anything for herself. and it's bullshit.
