from what he thought would be a class of amateurs, he was very surprised to hear a good array of voices that sounded like they had already been trained and cultivated. he did well for the things that he had to work with and he didn’t think he was bad but he knew that he could also use work and fine tuning. maybe that was the point of exercising with a partner in class to bounce creativity and critique off of one another. he just felt bad for his partner as he didn’t really have too much to offer in terms of sage advice. after perusing the room a bit, partners were decided for them and he was sat now across from her. and of all people... 

how long had it actually been? had to have been a good amount of years since he had last seen her face let alone even hear her voice... the lyrics that they were given were rolled up within his hands that rested upon his lap, his thumbnail picking at the corner of the paper as he sought words in the following silence that came as they were dismissed to do their work. voices rose up around them with cheery greetings and honeyed vocals but there was no need for that between them.

“have you been well? it’s been a while.”

should he have even said that? he had been the one that slowly began to cut her off first.

DATE: May 29th EVENT: Opening Speech

she wasn’t sure why, but they were urged to attend the opening speech. it was the opportunity to find everything in an orderly manner, know where directories can be found and how organisation staff members could be located and contacted. to chungha, it seemed like a glorified orientation.

she and saerom rode the train over together. with it being a samsung event, chungha did get permission to attend -- with the reminder that this comes at the cost of her preparation for the evaluations. she took the break knowing very well she’d have to work harder. but in reality, chungha knows she’s going to give the same amount of effort she has in the last few months. nothing new.

she guides saerom to stay in the back. she did not want to be towards the front when it came to these things. chungha had a smart mouth and a tendency to have smart quips. when they settled in the farthest possible seats, she turns to the other. “how long do you think this’ll take?” although according to the pamphlets it says only thirty minutes. “i bet you it’ll take the whole hour...presenters love to drone on and on about basically nothing.”

Why are they making all of us suffer by taking us to rap lessons? That is the first initial thought when she saw the schedule for this specialized camp. When it finally came Minhee recalls the horrors when she tries to be a rapper when she first joined Sphere even though they encourage her to be singer more since it was truly obvious there was no rapper bone in her body, unlike saerom. During the rap lesson she took the opportunity to make Saerom smile with terrible rap impression, “Yo yo, it’s your mini unnie. Beep boop beep boo?! am I’m rapper yet?” she tried to act swag before tapping her nose lightly in a playful manner hoping for the other to crack a smile. Minhee noticed lately she seem not herself lately probably cause the fact they kept losing girls either them leaving or samsung giving them away to other companies, which is great for them but it still sucks especially when end up training and performing them. Minhee can’t complain to much she still got Saerom, Jihyo and Sua is a really nice addition to the mix.

chaeyoung hadn’t been swimming in what felt like forever. she’d been so busy with school that she really didn’t have any time for anything else. so when the school year finally ended and she graduated, she decided to spoil herself by doing more things just for fun. 

she swims over to saerom and splashes her lightly, grinning, “i’m glad you came with me. swimming by yourself just isn’t the same.” she says, wading in the water next to her friend. she hums as the sun warms her face, “it’s the perfect weather for swimming too. a nice dry heat.” she leans against the edge of the pool, her feet kicking lightly.

“so,” she says, tilting her head as she looked at saerom, “what has miss saerom been up to? i feel like it’s been so long since the last time i saw you.”

        “try relaxing your wrist more.  if you’re stiff here---”  he points at her poised hand.  “---then it’ll be stiff here.”  he gestures at the paper laid out in front of them that proudly boasts 쿤, his name, in three separate trials with increasing fluidity.  korean calligraphy, he finds, is a little different from the semi-cursive style he had learned back in china;  the strokes are a lot shorter, their ends more accentuated.  it took a bit of time warming up to this particular style, but he thinks his third 쿤 looks rather nice, especially comparing it to the others around him  ( they’re trying their best, his mind supplies ).

        still, it makes him jittery just standing there and watching, so he promptly decides not to.

        “the pressure should come from your fore-finger.”  he tells this to the younger boy to his right.  “no, no.  that’s too much.  loosen your grip.  try again.”  after the boy completes his first character, kun turns back to the girl on his left---saerom from dance class, if his memory’s not failing him spectacularly.  “hm . . the way you’re holding your brush makes it a bit more difficult to achieve the smooth lines.  try holding it a little like this.”  he lays his hand over hers and tilts the brush’s angle slightly downward.  then, with his brow furrowed in concentration, he guides her through 이.  “see?  easier.”   ————   @rksae

hello everyone, it’s eri here with a bit of an update for you. it’s with a heavy heart that i’m due to announce that i’m changing saerom’s faceclaim ... to none other than son juyeon of wjsn; i’m reuniting this muse with the original faceclaim i brought her to the roleplay with all the way back in may of 2016. and this isn’t an overnight decision, it’s been on my mind for some while now. i’ve been going back and forth between faceclaims trying desperately to decide who is the best fit for this muse. i’ve been hesitant to change her url as i’ve already had so many url changes, i’m so sorry mods. but i’ve gone changed it to rkjvyeon for the time being until her inevitable debut in the future ( where i hope she gets a stage name or something ). as for any changes i’ve made to the muse ... check out the section below the cut for more details.

hello rookies, it’s eri. i have a confession to make, a confession which is probably obvious to most of you. i haven’t been around all that much of late. actually, i haven’t been around that much this year at all, i feel like i’ve been very absent from rookies as a whole. i’m sorry. after almost four years of writing for rkrose and rksae, i have found myself unable to write for either of my muses. i’ve been unmotivated, unhappy and overwhelmed; i’ve contemplated leaving the roleplay for good. i don’t feel proud or fulfilled by anything i write anymore, i more or less write to meet deadlines and that’s it, and it’s a shame considering how much time and effort i have put in to keeping these muses at rookies alive. but i don’t want to give up just yet.

i knew that i desperately needed a fresh start to encourage myself to be productive, so i’ve decided to create two new blogs for rkrose and rksae. i usually recycle my tumblr accounts, but i went ahead and made brand new email addresses and tumblr blogs; just for them. i felt like their old blogs were holding me back as they were recycled and cluttered; with random likes and muddled up tags. i’m a bit of a perfectionist in some ways believe it or not. but this is my effort to start the new year with a bang, for my writing and creativity at least!

almost nothing has changed character wise for either rkrose or rksae. however, i do want to focus on some plots i’ve outlined and had drafted for months now, things that will challenge and test them. i’m also really hopeful to work on character relationships that already exist, but i’m also hopeful i’ll get to create some new ones. so, here’s to strengthening relationships both in character and out. lets do our best to make 2020 our best year yet!

new sphere tradition incoming? since sphere’s company name is sphere gallery, we thought it might be fitting to pay homage to that. in addition to trainee titles (or instead of, if you’d like) we thought it would be fun for everyone to pick a color to represent their muse! let me know your hex code. pantone’s color finder may help you with this, or even photoshop or google. since there are so many colors, it’s okay if two muses have similar colors so long as the code isn’t the exact same! if you aren’t sure what color to pick, here’s a fun color quiz that may give you a place to start. this is in no way mandatory, so no pressure to do this if you don’t want to.

hello rookies, it’s eri here! — a big thank you for all of the warm welcomes, which was totally unexpected. y’all are too kind to me! i should probably get to the point of this post, which is to introduce my newest muse, who is none other than my ultimate bias kang younghyun, who i was inspired to bring to the roleplay after seeing day6 perform live in concert ( i also got to go to my first hi touch ; ___ ; ). i hadn’t the intention of bringing a third muse to the roleplay so soon after dropping rkjulia but with younghyun, i sort of had to. rkyounqhyun is a moody guy in a band who loves the drink and loves the rockstar life. he’s a total 180 from my other two muses, rkrose and rksae. and i’m sure he’s going to present me with difficulties, headaches and probably heartaches as i write for him. anyways, as i usually do, i’m going to be giving you a quick run down of him below the cut, but if you’d like to plot with this guy then please give this a like so i can approach you. you can find me on twitter at @luvyounqk or over on discord @ metanoire#9884, i’m active on both platforms!

born in ilsan, south korea on december 19, 1995

the first born child of two very business focused parents

comes from money and is set to inherent it

moved to seoul as a young child because “business opportunities”

very close to his paternal grandparents who own a chicken restaurant in seoul

really wasn’t the child his parents had hoped for

he was creative and distracted from the get go, but he was always pretty smart

ended up spending more time with his grandparents than his parents, which resulted in him moving in with his grandparents

started acting out in late middle school / high school, aka put his grandparents through hell ( but they never gave up on him )

always showed an interest in music, got his first guitar at age sixteen

forgot to mention his parents birthed a “replacement” in the form of another son, who’s name is youngmin ( and he’s still in high school, around age seventeen )

graduated high school and went straight into the military after being very firmly reprimanded by his grandfather ( his actions were really frightening his grandmother )

made his return and started working for his grandparents in their chicken shop

and somewhere in there, he also managed to form a band

still has a bedroom at his parents suave penthouse in gangnam

never goes there, though ... he prefers his dingy studio apartment much better

probably drinks and smokes too much

cleans up alright though

loves his grandparents immensely and doesn’t want to disappoint them

he’s a bit of a tool, i can’t quite decide whether he’s an asshole or not

probably a bit of a tsundere??? 

still ... i love him, he’s a good guy at heart :-(

NEW SPREADSHEETS.

hello everyone! i have come baring gifts of sorts. if you follow me on twitter, you will of seen me posting about my new points and achievement spreadsheet i’ve made for my muses. i’m always redoing themes and points pages, i’ve got a problem, i know. some of y’all seemed interested in having one of your own, so i’ve gone ahead and made a blank one just for you!

  THE POINTS PAGE.

the points page i have created is most ideal for looking at your muse’s progress over the year. as i have had rkrose and rksae since 2016, i have four pages to reflect their growth over the years at rookies. the pie chart that comes with the sheet interacts with point tallies that are hidden in the top right corner of the sheet, they’re hidden but you can easily see them if you change the colour of the text. the points page also comes with a section for your monthly and yearly goals, along with another section that could be used as a to-do list or evaluation tracker / planner. at the very bottom of your sheet is a tally section to see how many points you’ve earned for that year ( not including our grand total, which is located at the top of your page! ). 

  THE ACHIEVEMENTS PAGE.

unlike the points page, i whipped the achievements page together in around half an hour. it’s very straight forward. i like seeing all of the achievements to work towards, not just the one my muse has, but you’re more than welcome to change it. like the points page, the achievements page has a section to track your goals ( achievement specific goals, of course! ). when it comes to well ... tracking your achievements, just colour the cells in according to where your muse is at! example being; rkrose is novice japanese, so she’s earned 1 out of 25. i colour the first cell and put 1 / 25 in there. whereas her korean is intermediate, she’s earned 13 out of 25, so i put 13 / 25 in the intermediate cell ( and colour the cells for novice + beginner ) does that make sense? 

  A REMINDER . . .

i am by no means an expert when it comes to spreadsheets, it took me an entire day to make the points portion of this set and a whole lot of trial and error. so, if you do end up using this set, then please be wary that it may be a little fidgety. it’s not super professional looking and it might be a little janky in some places ( like the borders are an absolute b*tch to change, i’m sorry ; __ ; ) but, if you’re patient with yourself, then i’m sure you’ll be able to make it work! and i promise to do my best to help whoever needs it with this thing. but it should be pretty straightforward once you’ve done a bit of fiddling with it, or at least, that’s what i found.

the grand total tallies at the top of the page automatically add your points together, resulting in the total points ( on the right hand side, slightly adjacent from the tallies themselves ) updating automatically. this doesn’t include your debut points though. with the yearly tallies at the bottom of the spreadsheet, you will need to update them yourself. if you highlight the points of each skill section, you’ll be able to find the sum total and add it to your tally.

Be Myself ♥ Sphere Girls ♥ January Evaluation 2020 

date: 31st January 2020

location: seocho training facility

Part of Minhee always loves going to camps to learn new things or enhance her current abilities. She felt after the vocal camp she grew closer to the last remaining girls since they practice hard together since they all had something to prove in their own way. The song choice was good for them since it was a smooth track not filled with fancy notes yet Minhee felt with these specialized lessons her vocals improved so much and she had more control over her vocal cords than before. She really wants to show the coaches that she is good enough yet it, in all honesty, it was to prove to herself more than anything that still got what it takes despite getting older. This month has been tough on everyone in their own little ways dealing with their own issues from the scandals to the loss of other girls. Despite all that, she had fun with other girls especially celebrating Saerom’s birthday she gave her lovely cake to enjoy and doing fun vocal battles with Jihyo since they were in charge of the fancy oos & ahhs. Life isn’t all rainbows and sunshine so she had just roll with the punches since this year really hasn’t started off great but she is trying to find a light at the end of the tunnel. The song was inspiring so maybe just focus on the words and focus on the girls surrounding her instead of the worries she had in her mind. 

Wet her lips with her tongue before taking a deep breath preparing herself for the performance, the music starts to play here Jihyo starts off with the cool yeah in a melodic tone before Minhee compliment it with her sweet high voice. She really worked hard on this part as she wanted to start the performance on a great high so she can maintain the level of performance throughout. In her mind, she felt smug about that little part she played alongside Jihyo beautiful voice. As always the sphere trainee was her usual bright smiling self as she loves to perform besides this song is about being herself so she wouldn’t be herself if she wasn’t her usual bubbly character.

Minhee sang the words from her heart as she wanted to aspire others listening to the song even though she was only performing in front of coaches. She always imagines singing to a larger audience and what her fans would like to see so this way she would always give her 100% effort in the evaluation no matter what. The trainee wanted to do justice to what the song is all about even bring out her own confidence within herself to show how to be yourself by the use of her body language. The best part personally she loves it when she harmonizes together with other girls hearing their voices melt together into one always makes her so jovial. 

As the song progressed onwards, the older sphere trainee really gets into the song as telling these words to herself trying not to care what others think and she should be more kind on herself too wanting to show herself to the world. Show what she could really be capable of, this vocal camp really helped her control her vocal cords better than before and she could feel her range is increasing bit by bit too. The great thing about this song that she didn’t need to be vocally amazing as long she poured her emotion and charisma into this performance it should come out on top. She didn’t want to let the others girl day, Jihyo really took on this song like a boss, Sua vocals sounded so cool like herself then Saerom nailed that rap like it was nothing. At the end of the day, she enjoyed herself and gave it her all that’s the only thing she could do so she just had to let the coaches decided on how well or not so well they did in that performance.

“so, how do you feel about this line distribution?“ hyuna asks, leaning over to hand the piece of paper, scribbled with some pens to saerom. its a nice song, its a song she had wanted to do since the mga season 3, and that was three years ago. so simply put, hyuna was more thane excited about this. she had never worked with saerom, and it was always fun to work with someone else, one of the few people she didn’t know from sphere personally. however, these evals were always nice, she could always meet new people as long as they were willing to work with her.

“hey, you don’t find me intimidating, do you?“ the question is random, but hyuna wants to know. for someone who is working with her for the first time, having a face to face conversation, she;s noticed a lot of trainees tend to... stay away from her. she is aware, she could come off as intimidating, as in: she had experience. that was always scary, but she really wanted to hear saerom’s thoughts “it’s fine, you can say i am if that’s how you feel.“ she adds, smile pulling on her lips, and its a honest one,

what do you think / jihyo & sae

she knew this month’s evaluation would be important once she finally debuted. variety was a skill she needed but it wasn’t something she found herself caring for all the way. there had a been a lot to do but she knew she needed to tackle a few things, namely what she was going to show as her second skill. there were a few ideas bouncing around her in head, and she wanted to bounce them off of someone. which was she was currently standing in front of saerom, hands in her hair. 

“when i was on the mga’s, i did tongue twisters as a fun skill but i don’t about this time around.” a small pout appeared on her face. “it’s that or voice intimation but i feel like a few people might do it already?” jihyo wanted to be a tad different. “how about speaking backwards or writing backwards? but doing it fast..i’m good at that.”
