ok i wanna talk a lil about the specialists lives

Sky

Crown prince of Eraklyon, the shittiest place on earth. As a child he was completely cloistered, raised almost exclusively by a nursemaid, and he wasn't allowed to show his face in public until Brandon was purchased to be his decoy, for his own safety. As such, Sky feels pretty negatively toward his parents, but only as parents; he doesn't really see them in context of how much power they have. His leadership education was also strictly theoretical, really focusing only on studying the letter of the law and trade relationships, and as such he has a tenuous grasp on 'responsibilities' and 'consequences.'

Brandon

Also born on Eraklyon. His parents were loving but desperately poor, and enlisted him as a page (precursor to squire) at a very young age. At the time they believed it would be a chance for him to have a better life, but they went on to regret the decision when his positive relationship with the prince resulted in a Very dangerous assignment. As Sky's substitute, Brandon attended all of the public responsibilities of the crown prince, rubbing a lot of important shoulders and sitting in at a lot of important meetings, but the keen understanding that he was disposable prevented him from really capitalizing on it. Being forced to babysit Sky for years has left him with an extremely well-developed appreciation for Having A Pretty Good Time. Party bro.

Riven

His father is from Melody and his mother was from Zenith, but he was born and raised on a farm on Eraklyon after they fled the political turmoil on Melody. Eraklyon was the nearest planet, and at the time the unrest was mostly contained to the capital, whereas the countryside was considered pretty safe. Riven grew up healthy, but poor, and ran much of their small farm himself. It didn't leave him much time to excel academically. Unfortunately, farm life disagreed with Riven's mother, and she left when he was very young; shortly after, his father decided Riven should improve their lot by pursuing a life as a specialist, under the logic that his physical strength was his only skill. Unsurprisingly, Riven is extremely sensitive to inequality, and even more sensitive to others perceiving him as lesser.

Timmy

Brought up on Magix. Timmy's parents are good and supportive people, but they had to work a LOT to make ends meet when he was a child, so he spent a lot of time with his community and with his grandmother, a former mechanic. She got him interested in the trade, and he developed a real skill for it, eventually starting to engineer machines of his own, which earned him a place in Red Fountain. His school performance reflected his brilliance. It kills the others to know it, but Timmy is actually considered pretty cool in his hometown, and he's proud of his reputation for being present and helpful.

Helia

Absolutely everything is wrong with him. Raised by his grandfather on Magix. Saladin didn't give him a ton of attention as a child, and when he did it was. Somewhat colored by him being EXTREMELY fucking old, wealthy, eccentric, and a wizard, which is partly responsible for Helia's bizarre speech pattern. He's gifted in martial arts but considers himself philosophically above violence except for when he isn't, preferring to spend his time reading Classical Literature, writing bad poetry, painting landscapes, and sitting artistically under trees saying utter nonsense that sounds DeepTM.

Various Winx characters and their opinion on gossip:

Aisha isn’t fond of it. She likes to know what’s going on but really doesn’t like the whole “talking about someone behind their back” aspect, because that’s one of her own fears.

Stella Loves gossip. One of her favourite things to do is gossip. It’s not usually out of any kind of malicious intent, though (even if sometimes she can veer in that direction if she particularly dislikes someone), and she tends to talk people up. She has a philosophy of never saying anything behind someone’s back that she wouldn’t say to their face (insults included).

Bloom doesn’t partake herself, but sure does listen in if someone else is gossiping. Not much to say other than the fact that she lurks in the library a lot so if you’re spilling secrets, that’s the worst place to do it because she has a habit of stumbling across private conversations.

Linphea has a pretty big gossip culture, so Flora participates heavily and does not see it as a bad thing in the slightest. Just another fact of life.

Sky hates gossip, purely because if he’s around, it’s about him. An unfortunate part about being a handsome Prince.

Brandon is usually more of a listener when it comes to gossip, though if Stella’s around he’ll participate fully.

Helia absolutely despises gossip, as does Riven. It’s an opinion they’ve both shared since they were young, however, in the past, they would have occasionally gossiped with each other in between training.

Roxy isn’t too big on it and tends to just ignore it if she hears someone gossiping.

Stormy couldn’t give less of a fuck about gossip. She doesn’t care at all and thinks people who gossip have nothing better to be doing.

Icy is neutral towards gossip, though sometimes engages in it and encourages Darcy to engage in it because it can sometimes reveal things of benefit.

Mirta finds gossip very uncomfortable. She’s had too many bad experiences with it to be okay with it.

Wizgiz knows everything about everyone. That’s why his hat’s so big. It’s full of secrets.

Griffin and Faragonda don’t like to gossip unless it’s with each other over a cup of whatever magical tea they have in Magix.

Riven is autistic and I will prove it: part 1 of many

Ok so the thing is: people are aware that autistics often come across as abrasive. But what they don't consider is that 'being accidentally rude because we don't catch social cues' is not the only reason for this. Another reason, a very under-discussed reason, is that traumatized people often lash out as a self-defense mechanism

Autistic people are routinely emotionally traumatized in childhood. A great example of this is that autistic kids are less likely to notice/understand when we’re being teased, which can make us hypersensitive to being made fun of, and that hypersensitivity can look like being overly hostile/unable to take a joke/paranoid

Riven's struggles with toxic masculinity compound the issue. ‘Being made fun of’ is even worse if being perceived as an alpha male is important to you- and you might criticize him for feeling that way, but, again, this can easily be an autism thing: latching onto templates for how to act. Autists LOVE scripts. They make social interaction easier for us. BUT! They can also be destructive! And Riven very clearly shows he is uncomfortable with his own behavior when he literally has a nightmare all about his fear that he's an awful person

"Well maybe he should've chosen a better template" he goes to a military school. He is explicitly economically lowerclass. He's already used to being looked down on and assumed the worst of by age 16. It's painfully obvious he has a shitty home life. Literally everyone agrees his mom is either dead or walked out on him. And I know it's super trendy right now to say all teenage boys with bad opinions are being evil on purpose or whatever, but FRANKLY, I think 'having extremely shitty formative years' is a valid reason to be a little bit unpleasant when you're SIXTEEN YEARS OLD
