The “My Name is Gon” title is a reference to “I Am a Cat” (Wahagai wa Neko de Aru). It actually doesn’t have the word for “name” in there, which is a bit weird…Update: It’s about the day-to-day introspection and life of a cat and the wagahai suggests the cat thinks rather highly of himself, so I’d assume the former (applied to a dog of course), if not both of those things to be part of this.

The fact that Gon doesn’t move his mouth while telling us weird things (such as how Bull’s sweater reminds him of an old lady in Osaka) is hilarious. It’s almost like a play with Gon as narrator.

There’s a character which appears in both the word for “martial arts” and one of the (dead) professional fighters – Takehiko Fujita. It means stuff like “war” and “military power”.

Miyo Hijiriido?! Oh my gosh! This is new, indeed!

Okay, so the characters for Miyo look like this: 聖井戸 御代 The first character in “Miyo” is the same one that denotes “go” in goryoushin (formal way to denote “parents”) and similar words in keigo. The characters which aren’t “well” (water well) are the character for “saint/holy” and “age” (as in the period of time, alternatively “generation”), aside from the one I’ve already discussed. Therefore, I’d suggest Miyo is actually “the great detective [who ushers in a new] age” or “the great detective [of the current] age”. Update: Apparently Miyo means “age of a ruler”, as in the period of their reign (specifically referring to the emperor if it needs to be). I’ve heard there’s specific words in the Japanese language used only to refer to the imperial family…this is probably one of them. That specific name combo (as “odai”) is also a very polite way to refer to spare change, although that doesn’t seem very useful to know.

What’s that thing on Tamotsu’s wrist…? (A watch? Wouldn’t that be illegal in a prison like this?)

The long day of classes led them to the room within the library where they could settle their bodies into a soft chair compared to the rigid, plastic seats of the classroom. Atsuko turned the key to the lock with her friend, Minami trailing behind when both took a seat next to each other with the small slit of a window facing out to the books outside. Both peered out upon the emptiness of the outside before the shuffling of books came back to the reality.

 “We have that midterm tomorrow.” Atsuko thought. “Lucky we can spend the night here.”

 How much do I owe you?” Minami asked, pulling out her wallet. “Five hundred?”

 “That’s about right… When did you have money?” Atsuko smirked.

 “I work… Your mother still pays you with the week’s allowance.” Minami spat as Atsuko turned her face away.

 “I’m looking for a job… how about you give me a recommendation?” She turned back. “Please!”

 “I’ll ask around for a job. There isn’t many unless you want to work at a convenience store…” Minami pondered. “Most of the time will deal with people so that might not be up your alley.”

 “I guess so… I want a job so I don’t need the allowance. Still learning to cook as well.” Atsuko thought deeply. “She probably will still give me food.”

 “That isn’t bad. Your mother loves you so that might be hard. My parents were strict and I told them I would try my best. They are quite impressed that I have actually survived the years away.” Minami laughed. “I guess back to studying.”

 Both opened the books with the whole night ahead. The room in itself only had a small couch for lounging and the four chairs with a table to study. The room did not allow food or drink for the patrons but a lounge with three vending machines were available for them down the hall. People did use the rooms for studying yet it was harder around finals with the influx and limiting only for a few hours with the uptick in demand. During these times, most of the students would go to a family restaurant, which was open twenty-four hours, or concede to their dorms where the limitation of refreshments had pressured them to get extra vending machines for them.

 Atsuko was the first to stretch out her arms as she rubbed her eyes after glaring at the nots for a while. She took out her charger and plugged it into the outlet before turning back to the seat. She liked the class yet the midterm was being told as a tricky one with the multiple answers and with the timing it was quite early for her while Minami was one to not being able to concentrate at times was glaring over her notes often over the confusing themes as she turned over to Atsuko at times to match notes.

 “It is just a formality for the answers. It shouldn’t be that bad as long as you feel that it is right.” Atsuko murmured, taking a seat.

 “You’re sure? The teacher was quite adamant about how she runs her test. It was a problem for most students.” Minami moaned.

 “I think she is trying to psyche us.” Atsuko laughed. “I’m studying yet I’m confident for it.”

 “Acchan is always that way to get a B and I do the same for a C” Minami replied when Atsuko patted her head. “Yes?”

 “You should release stress prior to tests. You study and you keep going at it where you are exhausted and tend to be stiff. I know most of the time you feel overwhelmed.” Atsuko noted, grabbing her shoulders. “Take a break.”

 “I’m still trying to digest it.” She growled before her head turned back and Atsuko’s finger pressed up to her lips.

 “Again. Stress. Relieve. Then we go back.” Atsuko smiled.

 “What shall I do?” Minami spoke under her breath.

 “Step back from the books and take a few deep breaths.” Atsuko instructed. “Or… maybe have this?”

 Minami stared upon the item and shook her head immediately. She was never one to like to play around at school however in her free time she did have those moments since she was young to understand her body and her unusual sense of erotic thoughts. Minami delved into her lack of sex appeal by testing her limits in high school. Her parents didn’t know her ways until they found a pile of hair in the trash can and further explained her new style by trimming her pubes.

 “No! Not here. At the dorm, not here.” Minami growled.

 “Well we have this place all night… it’d be easier to hide on the couch than to be out by the window. Maybe we can get paper to block the glass.” Acchan informed her with the idea slithering into her mind.

 “I won’t fall into it… even though it isn’t a bad idea.” She admitted when she glanced at the notebook.

 She ripped out the pages in the back of the book and pasted it up there with the tackiness of the window holding it up for the moment before rushing back to Acchan and reaching out for the shorts of the woman. Minami was attracted to it with the sense of lust running through her mind and her fingers were inside the waistband to bring down the underwear when giving the item to press up to her partner.

 Minami watched her partner lightly cry as she turned up the intensity to hear the yelp before turning it back down. Her core was shining in front of her eyes while she felt the effects of the sound and lowered her bottom to let her fingers feel the warmth between her legs.  She stepped out for a bit when the darkness came over to the other area. The part of the library left was the study area and with the few rooms, Minami continued to find the rest were empty prior to her return to the vending area and sat with the thoughts disappearing.

 “We still have time.” Acchan grinned.

 “Study yes. Sex yes.” Minami nodded.

 Both left it open as they discuss the test and yet a few moments in was another chance with the urges growing and the temptation of doing loudly was now within reach until the morning came. The return back gave them a few hours to rest and clean up before the exam with little remembrance of the topic at hand.

Day 3 of Engeki Haikyuu Summer Week!

Today’s viewing of “Karasuno, Revival!” was hosted by Acchan, Shou, Shouri, and Naoki!

According to a friend of mine who went to this particular viewing, she said Shou got so into acting along with Aone on-screen that he threw himself on the stage to slam his fists down and ripped his jeans.  Fortunately he was wearing a shirt around his waist and could cover up the rip, but Acchan and Shouri peeked and went, “Oh yeah, it’s bad,” and Shouri laughed so much he fell over.

senbatsu sunday. the weea-big one.

an insane amount of work went into this week’s weeabatsu. mostly because i tried giving index scores to other established rankings. they aren’t perfect as they are, but i do have a goal of making them really nice and comprehensive by next sousenkyo season. then i’ll share it with the weebs over on stage or something.

so i’ve explained in the spreadsheet how the weeabindex breaks down, but here are some highlights.

sousenkyo. oshima yuko, acchan, mayuyu, shinoda mariko, and yukirin are the sousenkyo’s top girls (of which only yukirin remains). after them, you start to see outliers like ngt’s honma or ikoma who both ranked highly in a single year. i considered limiting this list to members who participated three years or more (what i call the maeda atsuko rule), but figured that’d just make it harder for me updating in the future. the comparison to weeabatsu uses an alternate weeabatsu ranking that eliminates any girl who has not ranked in ssk. jurina, miyazawa sae, and kitarie’s ranks are the same between the indexed ssk and the alt weeabatsu. the most similar in terms of index score is oya shizuka.

stage48. i’ve only gone as far back as the 2012 rankings for this list, simply because i don’t think the older results exist in their complete forms anymore. the weeabindex scores here are derived from the total ranked rather than number eligible simply because of stage’s downvote system makes it statistically awkward to include girls who received no votes at all. i would say the popularity of the top 16 (senbatsu basically) is pretty indisputable. compared to weeabatsu, tanaka miku’s rank is the same while hiragana’s higurashima mei is the closest by index score all the way down there at the bottom.

reddit. this ranking is less important as the /r/akb48 community is pretty much dead. still, i had the time. jurina is reddit’s queen apparently, ranking first in the two given years. the index scores are going to be pretty positively skewed simply because the number of eligible members i much higher. compared to weeabatsu, kitarie is the same in rank, and shiraishi is the most similar in score.

01. ske down 0.95, 16.2 above average. added kitano ruka (194). ske continues to be the weeabatsu top group. suda akari in here with the biggest individual boost this week. this is thanks to recent bingo appearances and her guest spots on the tentoumu-chu show.

02. keyaki down 4.28, 11.25 above average. keyaki overtook their senpai this week, and i can’t even tell you why.

03. nmb down 0.75, 9.41 above average. added shibuya nagisa (73). i talked some shit about nmb being rip this week. yagura announcing grad just really makes me feel like they have no future without leeching off of sayaka. yet weirdly and magically, they’re third best this week. some thanks goes to nagisa who i fell in love with while watching tentoumu-chu. also, yabushita jumped 60 places, contributing to nmb’s minimal average change.

04. nogi down 6.9, 8.81 above average. i lied earlier; i can guess why nogi fell some. terada, yoda, and kubo got kicked down a couple of tiers (probably a few too many). again, nothing much nogi is doing wrong, they’re still my favs. i’m just beginning to see the merit in other groups.

05. akb down 5.02, 2.59 above average. added eight members. i did it; i caught up on akbingo. to summarize some thoughts, (1) muramoto isn’t as shit as everyone says, (2) the best episodes include sister groups, (3) 2017 is a pretty good akbingo year so far. i’ve also now mentally separated akb into four subgroups: dai-senpai (gens 1-9), next gen (gens 10-15), 8tos, and the children (gen 16+/kenkyuusei).

06. hkt down 5.3, 10.7 below average. indexing ssk and the stage ranks really got me thinking about hkt. mainly, i really, really don’t understand the appeal of miyawaki sakura. at all. she’s just really boring to me. and as much as i like the girls now, a lot of that is thanks to sashihara. i want to preface that i knew absolutely nothing about sasshi’s history prior to watching hyakaten and tonkotsu, but that senpai/houhai dynamic is really what made hkt initially interesting.

07. sdn down 9.8, 37.5 below average. i’m still surprised that sdn isn’t last. really, it’s my respect for ohori and noro in the early bingo days that keeps them here. kondo is pulled up by association, an aspect of the weeabatsu that emulates the idea that being in the right team affects your standing.

08. team8 up 32.5, 41.58 below average. added six members. team8 the only positive change this week, and it’s a huge jump too. i watched bunbun; i liked bunbun, and this is the result. i wanted to make some comments on individual members that may seem familiar if you follow us on twitter. yamada nanami is the future yamamoto sayaka. chou kurena is the better shimazaki haruka. honda hitomi is... a less interesting miyazaki miho, but she’s okay. i made the comparison between team8 and hkt last week, but now i’ll honestly say i think 8tos have more raw potential.

09. ngt down 7.93, 42.93 below average. now, i’‘ll say ngt is essentially early hkt. however, i really have no clue how well they’ll do without kitahara. i don’t know how well kitarie will do without ngt. she said recently that she’d never passed a single audition after joining akb ten years ago. ten years. i like kitahara, so i hope she got one hell of a plan post-graduation.

i want to add here at the end, that i give no fucks about scandals. let the girls be girls. i say this because stage really crucified the hell out of sayuringo and owada nana (the latter of which never recovered before graduating). unless she’s a straight up felon, i don’t care what idols do off-camera or offstage.
