I noticed something really REALLY cool about Legends arceus while looking up references, and it's so little, I don't know how many other folks have noticed it!!

The pokedex you get at the beginning of your journey;

Perfect, crisp and brand new! So many pages to fill! Untouched by anyone ever, the first to ever exist! The original pokedex.

But at the end, with a completed pokedex;

The title of the book is all ripped and damaged! It's been through so many surveys and treks out in hisui's wilderness! The edges of the blue cover are faded and dulling, maybe got wet a few times with run ins with outbreaks, being jostled around in a pack exploring around the region. The black binder holding it together after all this time is equally as banged up, probably barely keeping the stuffed pages inside safe and tucked away, but still doing its job.

This is the first ever pokedex, this is the one that began the understanding of pokemon as we know it, bringing humans and pokemon together as friends in the distant future. Before technology advanced and made the pokedex we were first introduced to in Kanto so many years ago.

It's falling apart and has been waterlogged a few times, it's recorded so much and survived raging lords, hordes or pokemon, alphas, an exile, gods of time and space, a banished deity, and faced almighty sinnoh.

And it was written, filled out, carried and protected all this time, by a kid who did their best to help the professor who first met them in Hisui.

And it survived.

So I’m trying out the Cat’s Club free trial, and I noticed that all three Mynekos’ default personalities are “Smiling”, but their personalities change when you customize them

It took me a while to figure out what factors triggered specific personality changes, but then I realized…

Both of Thursday's eyebrows go way up. She's impressed by this person. Thursday herself is just about the weakest wimpiest nerd around and like hell she actually wants to exercise, but don't let it be said that she's one to back down from a challenge - at least not without trying.

"Floors- Oh, like, 10 plus a basement, but- I mean- I think I've already got enough extra weight on me, but- right!"

The stairs would have been difficult enough, but carrying computer towers too?? Oh boy...

Pressing her lips together in grim determination, the Office worker goes over to one, hauls one up first onto the desk, and then manages to get a good enough grip on it before teetering after Renga and attempting to mount the stairs in the nearest stairwell. It's a struggle and there's a lot of huffing and puffing and the way up is slow, but she is making an ascent.

"Don't wait for me! Hff hff!" she calls after the other woman. "I'll see you at the top! Agghhh-"

Well. At least if she falls down the stairs and dies, she'll respawn.

As Thursday stammers, Renga begins to do squats while listening.

"So you already got 20K down? Awesome - then we can get some more in since the day is still young! How about stairs? How many floors you got? OH, we can carry some of these computers for extra weight!" The Saiyan was already moving towards some of the empty desks to take the computer towers, seemingly ready to have one under each arm to substitute weights.

there's a thing i wish newer fans of spn could have experienced and that is when the show was airing, week to week, and for years and years on this website or on LJ or on twitter or wherever, coming up with speculation and meta posts and trying to follow the clues as to what this show was giving us in terms of material.

i'll admit some folks probably took it too far and didn't understand that just because the show didn't do 100% what they thought it was going to do, that it wasn't baiting or that they didn't know what they were doing — however for the most part, for a lot of us, it was just fun.

and i say this because fans that were brand new fresh once the show ended didn't get to experience that, it was all catch up and a post-show fandom environment for the last 4 years. the winchesters provided a bit of that rush again but it was so short lived that it was hard to get it going.

and why i think that experience is something good to have or at least understand that it's an experience that some people in this fandom have, is because it's gotten a lot of us used to not taking it all 1:1 face value. that is: we're used to things we think are going to happen not happening, we're used to the fact that our speculation and interpretations can be wrong, we're used to the fact that the people creating the stories have their own way of doing things, and while we think we know best, at the end of the day we're playing with the toys they left for us in the sandbox.

i don't think older fans are anything to sneer at or write off because even the ones who may have been the most jumpy during the show's airing have since grounded themselves and will essentially 'wait and see' how any continuation pans out, and also had that same approach with the winchesters and many folks i knew who took that approach were pleasantly surprised with that prequel.

not that we're The Wise Ones TM but that all that time in this fandom and interacting with the show did build this certain skillset for many and it's not that we're dumb, it's not that we're delusional or that we're always wrong about stuff, but that we learned how to have fun with it.
