jk realistically, Homura would have had her classes suspended on the day of, and depending on the school, probably have the rest of the week off. In my AU, she’s living in Park Slope current day, which means the catholic orphanage she would have been raised in would be somewhere in central to southern Brooklyn. I doubt that from that far she would have noticed or witnessed the attacks herself, depending on the elevation and clearance of the skyline. I’m sure she would have noticed the pummeling smoke in the air and panic in the streets, and I’m sure she would have seen at least one screen or television broadcasting the live footage of the twin towers. Homura has been applied to be very shy and empathetic in her earlier years, while not understanding the significance of what the attacks would mean for America, her heart would still hurt not only over the lives lost, but the impact it had on New York as a city. Because she’s in a catholic school, Im not sure if she would have been subjected to the rampant patriotism that emerged from the aftermath of the attacks as it did in public schools. It is to my understanding catholic schools aren’t very big of patriotism, clearly focusing and valuing religion more.

Hello hello !! I saw your update and binge read the three chapters this morning right after waking up, and now I don't know how I'm going to function today. I love this story, I love the plot line and all the mystery around it. I love how because the oc doesn't know herself, we're also lost when it's in her pov.

I have so many questions about the guys in the cloaks, who are they ? Are they real ? Ate they in her head ? Why did hoseok feel a sense of dread and then it went away ? Aaaaaaaah I'm so confused (but in a good way !)

I'm so excited for the next update, maybe it will help us understand better. Because the number that she chanted (if I understood correctly) is the number of people who died because of This (whatever it is). And that's a whole lot of people... so how can they all die ? Rina/Rhino/Kangaroo Dynamics and Lore

A short requested list of lore and headcanons regarding my TPoF OC/MC Marina, and Fox’s guards.

Rina/Rhino/Kangaroo Lore 🐇🦏🦘

Pre-Auction

First off…Rhino and Kangaroo are the ones who kidnapped Rina for Fox’s human product auction.

The two had surveilled Rina’s routine for about a month before kidnapping her after she had left early from an alcohol-filled get-together that had gone awry.

They had a physical profile to work off of for a “desired product” sought out by big human auction spenders. (Celia, Derek, and Mason)

Marina, among a few other targets, fit this physical profile, but Marina was ultimately the one snatched up for this specific auction.

Kangaroo is the one who anesthetized her, while Rhino is the one who held her down while Kangaroo sedated her.

Livestream Arc

Rhino and Kangaroo are of course the two goons that accompany Fox each time he visits Rina is her cell.

Each day, one of them brought Rina food. Rhino was generally more polite when placing food for Rina, being careful to not make a mess, while Kangaroo tended to shove the plate of food through the slot in the door with a bit of force, almost as if he was in a hurry.

Rhino did not watch the livestreams Marina co-starred in, while Kangaroo watched the streams on his phone outside of Fox’s streaming room.

Rhino is the one who called for medical help after Rina stabbed herself in her third and final gore livestream.

Ultimately, Rhino and Kangaroo did not think Marina would live past her final livestream.

After Fox Keeps Rina

For a while, Fox keeps a guard posted at his residence to watch over Rina while he is away working.

Fox trusts only Rhino and Kangaroo with his most precious pet, and would never let any other set of guards watch over her while he was away.

Fox orders only one guard to stay with Rina at a time, having Rhino and Kangaroo alternate, rarely ever watching her together, as he himself needs a guard while on duty at his job.

The only time Rhino and Kangaroo ever watch Rina together is when Fox allows Rina to go into the city to shop without him and only the guards. (This is a privilege she gains after Fox is certain that she really is the obedient girl he is molding her to be.)

Rina is to never stray far from the guards, and Kangaroo is basically on her heels the entire outing. Rhino is always close behind, keeping a lookout for any potential dangers that could transpire in their outing.

Once the need for Rina to be guarded at Fox’s residence is no longer needed, Rina rarely sees them outside of outings, and the off chance Fox takes her to work in which she has to stay in his office the entire time.

How the guards interact with Rina

Rhino 🦏

Personally for me, I see Rhino more as a gentle giant type, and write him as such in his and Rina’s dynamic. :)

Rhino calls Rina, “Miss Marina.” :)

He is the more willing of the two to indulge in Rina’s hobbies alongside her when guarding her.

This includes building puzzles together, holding yarn while Rina practices her knitting, helping her with some artsy crafts, or watching her play video games.

Rhino is quite patient with Rina, and doesn’t find her shyness to be much of an obstacle, even in the beginning where she would not even speak two words to him.

Eventually, Marina does open up to Rhino, and finds his presence calming despite her situation. His patience and soft spoken personality is reminiscent of her deceased older brother, leading her to feel more comfortable with him in a strange way.

Rhino is usually more than willing to make food for Rina, considering she is not allowed to make food for herself.

In a way, Rhino pities Marina. She is not a bad person, she has never done anything wrong, she was just merely unlucky.

When shopping, Rhino is usually the one tasked with carrying Rina’s shopping bags. He does not mind one bit. :)

Once relieved of his post at Fox’s residence when Rina no longer needs to be watched, Rhino takes it much better than Kangaroo, and is happy to be given his routine at the bunker back in order.

Kangaroo 🦘

In my headcanon, Kangaroo is a bit more on the abrasive side. He’s not gentle, and he can be a bit brash with his words and actions, so I write him as such to fit into his and Rina’s dynamic. :’)

Kangaroo calls Rina, “Pet,” or “Princess.” (Condescendingly of course)

Kangaroo hates watching Marina. He considers this side of his job as “babysitting,” and “not in his job description.”

In comparison to Rhino, Kangaroo is much more impatient with Rina in the beginning of their interactions.

If Rina stutters or trips on her words, Kangaroo is sure to mock her by mimicking her stutter, or chastise her by telling her “I don’t have all day, pet.”

Kangaroo does not go out of his way to interact with Rina on a “human-level.” She’s more or less just a task for him to complete.

Kangaroo is the less likely of the two to make food for Marina, opting to order food for delivery on Fox’s dime.

Kangaroo is a bit of a domineering presence in Fox’s residence when watching Rina, so in turn, Rina tends to keep her distance from Kangaroo.

Though Rina is always on her best behavior around him, Kangaroo still finds ways to note misbehavior to Fox at the end of his shift.

During scheduled outings, Kangaroo is always on high alert, keeping a watchful eye on Rina, much more than he would while watching her in Fox’s residence.

Despite his abrasive behavior towards her, once he and Rhino are no longer needed to guard Rina in Fox’s residence, he harbors some bittersweet feelings now that Rina is trained well enough to not need to be watched anymore.

Once relieved of his post at Fox’s residence, he’ll say that he misses the “babysitting bonus,” but Rhino likes to think that he just misses Rina above all. :)

Fox’s Rules for the Guards

Though Fox trusts his guards with his darling Rina, he does have a set of guidelines and rules he has in place for them to follow. Violation of these rules could result in the demotion or termination of their position in Fox’s operation.

Do NOT touch Rina.

Unless advised or instructed, it is best to keep your hands off of Rina.

Do NOT punish Rina.

Take note of any misbehaviors she may display, and report back to Fox at the end of each shift. (Fox will dole out punishments for Rina.)

Do NOT let Rina cook.

If Rina gets hungry, please make her something to eat.

If cooking is out of the question, please order food for delivery.

Do NOT let Rina go outside.

Unless scheduled and approved by Fox, Rina must stay in Fox’s residence.

Keep Rina away from things that could harm her.

Knives, scissors, or anything sharp should be locked away securely and only be handled by guards.

Secure all possible escape exits.

Ensure that the front door and windows are indeed locked or not conducive to becoming an escape route.

Do NOT follow Rina into the restroom.

There are no locks on the doors, if you feel Rina is taking too long in the restroom, please avoid barging in unless she does not answer you verbally.

BONUS: NSFW Notes

Just a few NSFW things to note! I don’t see Rhino or Kangaroo actually indulging in Rina’s body unless instructed by Fox, but I could see unsavory thoughts/acts crossing their minds.

If Rina wasn’t Fox’s pet, Kangaroo would fancy Rina and hearing her squeal as he fucks into her mercilessly. She is more or less his “type:” Innocent, shy, almost begging to be violated (in his mind, lmao.)

If instructed, Rhino and Kangaroo would most definitely engage in group sex with Fox and Rina.

Fox gets off on displaying his power over people, so ordering his goons to fuck his pretty little pet to contentment as he watches (or joins in) makes his cock twitch at the thought of it.

If ever given the chance to Fuck Rina at the behest of Fox, Kangaroo is rough and mean as he slams into her weeping, puffy cunt, while Rhino displays a bit more care and softness towards Rina, careful to not “break” her under his size.

BUT! This is all merely conjecture. :) I more or less see Fox to be the type to not share Rina, especially after keeping her for a long time, but it is always fun to speculate and bring in some different dynamics, heheh. >:3c

after the whole “Romeo and Juliet announcement” for Christmas they get twin golden retriever puppies, one for each of them, and name them Romeo and Juliet. Juliet belongs to Ricky and Romeo belongs to Gina. Romeo is affectionately known as ro or romey and Juliet is affectionately known as ju or juju. (pretty sure this one has been said by people already but I LOVE the idea of it and i had to add Juliet)

furthermore on the Romeo and Juliet topic after Mack leaves Quinn asks Ricky to step in 😍

this is more down the line but I have a vision for in the future when Ashlyn and Maddox want kids. they want to adopt though, and as soon as they find the perfect little red haired munchkin Maddox immediately goes to the hardware store and buys tons of paint and they redo an entire room in their cute little cottage for their kid. idk why but that just came to me in the middle of the night, I had an image in my head of Maddie FaceTiming jet covered in paint laughing/crying as they finish up the room.

jet asks Kourtney out at the big New Year’s Eve party at Ashlyn’s. Enough said. she giggles and accepts and the two become a power couple and a force to be reckoned with.

ricky and Gina continue to meet in the secret stairwell and he continues to climb up through her window even after their relationship goes public

We don’t know what ej is majoring in (at least I don’t remember) so during the middle of his freshmen year he switches it to education. he becomes a teacher and goes somewhere else (somewhere in the Midwest maybe?) to teach middle school sports.

ricky pursues music through college and ends up becoming a famous singer/songwriter/music producer similar to nini but he ends up writing a lot of the songs and soundtracks for Gina’s movies.

Gina pursues her acting career and ends up becoming a total rockstar but she never changed her values and who she is. her and Ricky attend every premiere together

when Dewey gets too old to run camp shallow lake anymore, guess who he asks to take over? Maddox. she happily accepts and moves her and Ashlyn and their red haired baby (ash and Maddie are not married yet btw - can you adopt and still not be married? Dumb question maybe lol) over to California. and one day as they’re going through each of the cabins seeing what shape everything is in, they stop by the honeycomb bunk. Lo and behold as they walk in is a magnificent beautiful romantic picture before Maddox, with a huge framed picture of her and Ashlyn and tons of wild flowers and all her favorite guitars and things. She turns around… and there’s ash with a ring. Ashlyn doesn’t even get to pop the question until Maddox screams and tackles her, laughing and saying “I have to show you something!” She pulls ash behind her over to the theater barn and there is almost an identical setup on the stage, except all of Ashlyn’s favorite things. and now Maddox has a ring. You can guess how it ends. (sorry this one was super long but once I got started I couldn’t stop)

ricky has always enjoyed doing public things for Gina, as we’ve seen. He’s always shouting about his love for her in public, serenading her randomly as they walk through town, etc. well his proposal is exactly the same. They’re on the red carpet for a movie Gina had been kicking butt in (literally, it’s an action movie). (like everyone else has said, they got married young. You decide what age you want specifically) Ricky had been acting a bit nervous and Gina didn’t know why. once they got on the red carpet, in the very center of all those cameras and fans, Ricky took her hand and got down on one knee. Gina’s jaw dropped as Ricky gave the most beautiful profound speech in the world since “I love you forever” and immediately Gina started crying as she said “yes yes infinity times yes!” and everyone cheered and Ricky gave her the biggest hug of his life and spun her around did not let go of her for the rest of the night. *side note: when a reporter asked Ricky if he was nervous about proposing to Gina since it’s very public and what if she says no, Ricky replied with a “that’s not why I was nervous at all. No, I wasn’t nervous that Gina would reject me. We’ve been dating for so long, it’s just- we just get each other. We complete each other. I promised her forever and I’m never going back on that promise. because I do love her forever. No, the only reason I was nervous is because it’s so loud here and I didn’t know if she would hear the things I was saying. I was speaking from the heart! and because I’m on tv being recorded, obviously, what if I mess up and do something stupid? but no, I wasn’t worried at all that Gina would say no.” 🩷 (this one was also extremely long sorry!)

Saw some other rina headcanons (sorry this post might be a lot about them bc I’m in love with them so yeah) but one of them was Ricky gets Gina mystery childcare’s every Valentine’s Day and she literally knows who they’re from but plays along anyway because he’s adorable

Carlos and Seb continue to be a little on again off again through college but eventually settle down in a far-style version of glamping with a huge fancy central house and then a rusty old barn for Seb to do this thing with the cows and such

they have both boys and girls and Carlos insists on having a quince for every one of them (I’m thinking big family…)

all of the respective couples when they have kids name miss Jenn as the godmother 🥹

kourtney is a cat person. idk why. but you cannot change my mind. she’s gonna be a crazy old fashionista grandma with tons of cats telling her grandkids stories while her is half asleep next to her waking up every so often to say “and then I…” and then falling back to sleep

speaking of jetney, jet needs 60 million pep talks before he proposes to kourt - it takes a LOOOOOOOONNGGGG time

Kourtney becomes a world renowned fashion designer and jet is just along for the ride. they have twin boys and a girl and he raises them while working some boring 9-5 job but he loves raising his kids and teaching them all about music and their mama since she’s gone a lot. But they FaceTime every day after school whenever Kourtney’s away for her job, it’s the best part of any day

jenn and mazzy love New Zealand so much that they end up moving there once miss Jenn retires (don’t worry, it’s not for a long time) and when everyone goes for a big reunion party to celebrate the 25th anniversary of hsm4

mike and Lynn don’t actually get back together… do they actually get back together in canon? Or are they just like more friendly towards each other and not so standoffish? Because I dunno, a divorce is very final and then getting back together just offsets the whole change thing Ricky’s gone through. But anyways, that’s just me

nini goes on tour Ricky and Kourtney’s freshmen year in college and Kourtney comes back from Lewis to see her perform in Salt Lake City. nini gets everyone prime seating - even Emmy and jet and Ricky - and they all go and have the best time ever. Ricky and nini don’t kill each other on sight and turns out nini is the biggest die hard rina fan ever and ends up writing a song for them on their wedding day. her and Ricky go back to being better friends and things aren’t so tense after they have a huge raging private concert between them too where they sing all of the thoughts they’ve ever had about each other and just let it all out. It’s very therapeutic for them and helps them understand each other a bit more (same vibe as portwells lil thing in season four where Gina apologizes to ej)

I read something today that just threw me for a loop. Someone said how disappointed they were in Season 4 because Rini and Rina were parallel and that Rick basically was doing the same things with Gina that he did with Nini. Rini was totally toxic as there was no effective communication, Ricky's love was selfish and suffocating to Nini. I did not find that to be the case at all with Rina. Granted, when it comes to Rina, I tend to wear rose tinted glasses. Sure, Ricky concentrated on making his relationship work to the exclusion of everything else, including college, but I don't think that made his relationship with Gina toxic. By the end, Gina's ambition rubbed off on him, and he was ready to do what he had to do to get into school even if Gina wasn't around. Nini never influenced Ricky to want more from life, to apply himself.

I could be insane. I just wondered what your thoughts were because I obviously need to re-watch for the umpteenth time because I missed something. Ricky has changed immensely as he is not the same Ricky from season 1 or 2. Of course these are just my opinions.

hiiiiiii, you're completely right!! rina paralleled both rini & pw this season to show how their relationship was different than those from their pasts, and how they've grown since/because of those earlier relationships. it's meant to exemplify how, like gina said, they can get through anything together and the hurdles that stopped pw/rini didn't stand in the way of rina ending up together. i know you specifically mentioned rini, but i have this pw parallel in mind that i've been thinking about making a set of, so as an example of it all,

ej gets handed the responsibility of being a director and when talking to gina about it, says 'nothing's gonna get in our way'. in 402, gina says 'nothing's gonna get in our way' to ricky regarding playing troyella, and is shortly after handed the lead role in hsm4. ej directing does get in pw's way since ej doesn't make time for gina, but gina puts in the time & effort to keep her promise to ricky, as she says in 405, and ultimately ends up able to play gabriella opposite ricky bc she was willing to do all that

something smaller in regards to rini / rina, ricky saying that mark & spark is important to him bc it's important to gina, and then, like, a few sentences later, saying he still doesn't watch musicals (something important to nini) ksjdfks the biggest example of it all is ricky being able to let gina go to new zealand but still wanting to say that he loves her (not to try to keep her there) + gina wanting that gesture from him and her ultimately choosing and finding a way to stay in slc. that's major growth from s2 and shows how ricky & gina were exactly what the other needed

and yeah, he was definitely more willing to step up and was able to find something to be passionate about because of gina's influence!! she believed in him from the beginning, and he became better because of it <3
