Interesting thing about the recent Developer's Backyard update that talked a bit about A.B.A and Slayer and so forth-
The Japanese version actually has a whole section that was not included in English, talking about how both A.B.A and Paracelsus were recast in the Japanese dub, with a particular focus on the fact that Toshimichi Mori no longer voices Paracelsus (considering he's so strongly associated with the character.)
I went ahead and made a quick translation of the segment, in case you're interested:
● About the Japanese voice language
A.B.A and Paracelsus have been recast to be played by Mrs. Riho Sugiyama and Mr. Akira Kamiya respectively.
In prior titles, the in-battle voice lines of Paracelsus were done by Mr. Toshimichi Mori, who is well-known for his work on the BlazBlue series. We initially planned to ask Mr. Mori to reprise his role for this title as well, and even approached him about it.
However, as development progressed, it became clear that Paracelsus needed to be portrayed properly for the sake of the story, and after discussing it with Mr. Mori himself, we decided to hire a professional voice actor.
Other ideas were things such as having him speak in a mysterious language that's not spoken in any country- but this was dropped because it made it difficult to deliver a good performance that matched the voice.
That said, the idea that Paracelsus = Mori left a strong impression upon the fans too, so if we were going to recast the role, we wanted to ask someone with a considerable impact and cogency… And with that in mind, we made an offer to Mr. Akira Kamiya, a legend in the voice acting world, and he kindly accepted.
I believe a new kind of chemistry sparked between Mrs. Riho Sugiyama's accurate portrayal of A.B.A's inner world, and Mr. Akira Kamiya's take on Paracelsus, who's gotten closer with A.B.A- If you have yet to play A.B.A's arcade mode, please take this opportunity to check it out!

Additionally, the paid downloadable content battle stage called “Fallen Prayer, Engulfed Lives” and a free update featuring several balance changes—including the addition of a new special move for Millia Rage called “Artemis”—are due out on the same date.
Get the details below.
DLC Character A.B.A
A.B.A (voiced by Anna Brisbin in English, Riho Sugiyama in Japanese) is available as a purchasable character ($6.99) and as part of Season Pass 3 ($24.99) on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Steam, Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows platforms. This fan-favorite returning fighter from 2012’s Guilty Gear XX Accent Core R can enter her powerful Jealous Rage state by meeting certain conditions. She gains greatly improved movement during Jealous Rage, with different properties for most of her normal, special, and Overdrive moves. While she has shown to be profoundly jealous and belligerent at times, she can also be considerate and sympathetic towards others. Due to her upbringing in a laboratory, A.B.A is often shy and emotionally immature.
Her reluctant husband, Paracelsus, currently in the form of a magical battle axe which is actually named Flament Nagel, has brainwashed many, and led warriors to their deaths on the battlefield during the Crusades. The axe’s thirst for violence can drive its wielder to fight until their bloody end, with no distinction between friend and foe. After the Crusades, he encountered A.B.A, accompanying her despite a seeming distaste for her constant advances. Throughout their time together, he has begun to change shape from an axe into a key. A.B.A has yet to notice the change in heart he’s experienced along with this transformation. She now sets out on a journey to find a human body for her spouse—concerned about the recent changes to his appearance, she has pledged to uncover the cause.
New Battle Stage: “Fallen Prayer, Engulfed Lives”
The new battle stage, “Fallen Prayer, Engulfed Lives,” features a clear blue sea and an eye-catching monument. While coral reef overgrowth has transformed the city into a tourist spot, it is now inhabitable for residents.
New Special Move” “Artemis”
“Artemis,” a new special move for Millia Rage, has been added to Guilty Gear: Strive in this update. The new special move allows Millia to attack while leaping up at an angle behind her. As she leaps, she can evade low-hitting attacks or even pass through to the opponent’s other side. This creates another option for Millia’s offensive game and mixes up a blocking opponent with a blistering cross-up. Playable characters and content featured in Season 3 will be fully available to players who purchased Season Pass 3. This content requires the base game (sold separately) in order to play. In addition, players will be required to download the latest version of the game.
Guilty Gear: Strive is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, as well as via Xbox Game Pass.

Thoughts On: Wave, Listen to Me!
Let’s not speak of this again || Awful || Bad || Okay || Entertaining || Good || Better than Expected || Really Good || Amazeballs || What is this vision of glory I’ve witnessed?!
Alright, so, you say there’s going to be an anime about a radio station and give me a first episode where a woman is literally fighting a bear while talking--not only am I going to have some questions, I’m going to seriously wonder just what kind of weird seinen slice-of-life I just stepped into. It’s honestly not a bad way to start off a series.
To be honest, my enjoyment of Wave, Listen to Me! did wain a bit after the first couple of episodes as the odd bear-like bits took a backseat to the actual dramatic narrative surrounding our main character, Minare, and all the people who have--luckily or unluckily--come into contact with her.
Minare is our main character, and in a lot of ways, she is the absolute center of the series. Yes, there are other characters with their motivations, but for the most part, Minare carries the heft of the narrative. She also carries the emotional focus of the series itself. While this is often the case in the drama genre, typically other characters come in to steal focus for a time. Often this is a tool designed to give the audience a break and/or to expand on the world around the characters. In Wave, Listen to Me!, it happens very rarely and, for the most part, not until the later episodes after Minare is completely established.
Establishing Minare’s character is actually not as difficult as it would be with most characters. She’s brash, self-centered, and incredibly candid. There’s nothing Minare does that isn’t accompanied by a monologue, which is what makes her the perfect person for hosting a nontraditional radio show. Not only are the characters in the show compelled to listen to Minare, but her forthright nature makes the viewers root for her. It’s also interesting to note that there aren’t many anime that deal with adult characters in the way that Wave does, so a strong, outspoken character like Minare really is incredibly striking.
Of course, this wouldn’t be possible without the amazing voicework of Riho Sugiyama. Minare is a very open person, and that may have been a reason for her getting the job, but very early on in the series, her boss Mato states that her voice--it’s tone and quality--is something rare and special. Sugiyama brings such life to Minare to a point that she doesn’t sound like an anime character but actually like a radio personality. I haven’t seen Sugiyama in any of her starring roles (and she hasn’t been in much at all), but her performance as Minare was really what kept me watching the series.
While the premise of the show is rather original compared to other anime, the plot was somewhat jumbled and awkwardly paced, the background characters really don’t stand out much until the later episodes, and some bits of the series were just very odd, but Minare and the performance of Riho Sugiyama somehow make this series stand out.
If you like slice-of-life and don’t mind a story that plods along while having some oddly unique and strange content, give Wave, Listen to Me! a try.

Bar Stella Abyss details more patrons, cocktails, survival tips, and digital mini soundtrack
Gematsu Source
(Hit the 30 image limit, so you'll need to check their site for the rest)
Nippon Ichi Software has released new information and screenshots for roguelike strategy RPG Bar Stella Abyss introducing patrons Maia, Kaji, Kilka, and Saotome, a selection of cocktails, dungeon survival tips, and the digital mini soundtrack.
Get the details below.
■ What is Bar Stella Abyss?
Bar Stella Abyss is a roguelike strategy RPG in which you strengthen your party with the power of the constellations while exploring a dungeon in another world that changes form each time you play. In addition to exploring the other world, the story will unravel as you share drinks with the peculiar patrons of the bar “Stella Abyss.”
Wanderer (voiced by Nanako Mori) A wanderer who lost their face and arm.
The protagonist, who arrives at the hidden bar Stella Abyss after following a flyer floating in the wind through the city at night. In order to get back the face and arm they lost in the Drunken World, they must go back and forth between the bar and other world.
■ The Patrons of Stella Abyss
To make your way through this Drunken World filled with powerful monsters, you will need allies who fight alongside you. Here we will introduce some of the Stella Abyss patrons who appear in the Drunken World, where only those who “lost something important” are said to reach, and lend their strength to Wanderer.
Maia (voiced by Riho Sugiyama) A bewitching woman with a veil of secrets.
“Secrets are the spices that make life appealing… are they not essential to living a happy life?”
A mysterious woman who keeps everything secret, including her work, residence, and age. Whenever she has a conversation, she comes off as eager to know everything about the person she is talking to, while skillfully avoiding any discussion about herself. Despite her secrecy and masking of her true feelings, she does have a caring side that tries to lend a hand to the troubled Wanderer.
Kaji (voiced by Hiroshi Watanabe) A smart businessman with a mature charm.
“Well then, let’s have a toast… to meeting each other.”
An elite businessman who always has a smile on his face and acts gentlemanly. He naturally captivates others with his advanced communication skills and mature charm. He is friendly with everyone he meets and worries about Wanderer, who is caught up in a predicament.
Kilka (voiced by Mikoi Sasaki) A mysterious beauty who wanders the Drunken World.
“I’m not used to things like conversing in a place such as this.”
A woman who works with Tipsy to explore the Drunken World for a certain purpose. Even in Stella Abyss, her eye-catching beauty has secretly garnered attention, but she is not one to actively engage with the other patrons. She has a quiet personality and responds in a curt manner when spoken to. She is not a fan of alcohol.
Saotome (voiced by Takaki Otomari)
A drunken man with a sharp tongue.
“You must be quite honest to go through the trouble of questioning my lies.”
A curt, self-proclaimed freelance writer with a drinking problem who frequents the Drunken World. He has a blunt attitude and is often sarcastic. He uses rough language with Wanderer when they first meet, but his phrasing shows a high level of intelligence and insight.
■ A Mysterious Corpse in the Darkness of Its Heart: Dark Clouds Gather Over the Bar
During the time you spend together, the patrons of Stella Abyss will tell you many things. Wanderer’s conversations with them will open and, at times, close their hearts, revealing the darkness within them and their other faces.
And a serious incident that occurred at Stella Abyss some time ago. —A terrible incident occurred at Stella Abyss, which was thought to be a safe place…?
An unsettling shadow hides in the midst of your conversations with patrons. A mysterious incident that occurred at the bar; the reason why Wanderer was robbed of their body… All may be revealed in the Drunken World.
■ Real Cocktails Recreated In-Game
Bar Stella Abyss features real cocktails like “gin and tonic” and “cassis orange,” which will aid you in your quest to clear dungeons. As you progress through the story, more cocktails will unlock in the cocktail tree, with an approximate total of 300 cocktails. Here we will introduce a small selection.
Screwdriver: Level Difference Power-Up
This classic cocktail increases the amount of damage you deal when you are weaker than the enemy.
Mohito: Poisoned Status Ailment Infliction Level-Up
A refreshing cocktail made with fresh lime and mint. It inflicts a stronger poison than normal when you inflict the poisoned status ailment.
Picador: One-Turn Stats-Up
The coffee liqueur suppresses the tequila flavor, making this an easy-to-drink cocktail. It significantly increases your stats for just one turn at the start of battle.
■ Tips on Surviving the Drunken World
Here we will introduce some tips on surviving the Drunken World, an unknown dungeon where dangerous enemies lurk. You will be able to clear dungeons more seamlessly if you know how to choose the right “Stella” to strengthen your skills, as well as what to look out for while exploring.
Stack Stella to Level Them Up
If you obtain the same Stella as one you already have set, you can stack it on top of the existing Stella in the same slot to level it up. Stella can be strengthened without altering the number of available slots, so whenever you obtain a duplicate Stella, it is a good idea to stack them and create a more powerful Stella. —By increasing a Stella’s level, both its stats and amount of MP it consumes will increase. So be mindful as Skill Stella will not activate if you lack the required MP.
Collect the Same Constellations to Get Bonuses
Each Stella belongs to one of the 13 constellations of the zodiac, such as Capricorn and Virgo. By setting multiple Stella of the same constellation to one character, that character will receive power-up bonuses called “Stars.” —The contents of a Star varies per constellation, but they always carry an effect and increase the character’s capabilities.
Watch Your Energy Consumption
In the Drunken World, you will consume “Dream Energy” based on your actions. When your Dream Energy reaches zero, your entire party’s HP will begin to gradually decrease. While it is a good idea to explore every nook and cranny of the dungeon, be sure to keep an eye on your energy as well. —Dream Energy can be recovered through items, as well as at rest areas alongside HP and MP.
An Eerie Siren Signals the Arrival of a Formidable Foe
If you stay on the same floor for too long, an eerie siren will sound, warning you of an impending attack by “Buzzerman.” Buzzerman’s strength sets him apart from other enemies, so it is a good idea to make your way to the next floor quickly before the encounter. —Buzzerman’s overwhelming strength can take you out before you even have a chance to retaliate.
Customize Equipment to Make It Your Own
Depending on the rarity of the equipment, empty slots can be used to strengthen it. At the “Forge” located in the dungeon, you can use the items in your possession as materials to add effects to your equipment that enhance their performance. —Through repeated strengthening at the Forge, you can create equipment with numerous additional effects.
Protect Important Items by Placing Them in the “Storage Chest”
If you run out of energy while exploring, you will lose all items in your possession. However, items stored in the “Storage Chest” located in the dungeon will not be lost, and can be retrieved from the chest in Stella Abyss.
Gain the Upper Hand in Battle with Preemptive and Link Attacks
By attacking an enemy on the field, you can begin the battle with the first move despite the enemy’s speed. However, if an enemy attacks you from behind on the field, the battle will begin with the enemy going first. When an ally attacks an enemy, if another ally is positioned in a way that they can reach they enemy with an attack, there is a fixed chance that a Link Attack will trigger, leading to a follow-up attack. Link Attacks do not consume a turn, so they can be used to more quickly eliminate enemies when activated.
Treasures Hidden in Fields Full of Enemies
In the Drunken World, which changes each time you visit, you may come across fields full of enemies known as the “Spirits Hall.” By defeating the swarm of enemies that attack all at once, you will have a chance to obtain a treasure chest. If you think you can handle it, then give it a try. —When fighting against a swarm of enemies, positioning is more important than ever.
■ First-Print Bonus: Digital Mini Soundtrack
First-print copies of the physical edition of Bar Stella Abyss includes a download code for a digital soundtrack featuring eight background music tracks from the game.

Synopsis: Writer Hasegawa Mitsuru has been investigating a case that was rumored to be the work of vampires known as “Biters”. His childhood friend, Annaka Yuusei, a.k.a. Anna, warns him not to stick his head into where it doesn’t belong.
Review Proper
Just something about this is weird. The manga’s pretty fluid on its own, but it’s kinda, uhh, choppy? in the BLCD. Although I’m not sure if Smoky Nectar’s a serious manga with some comedy here and there, 50:50 serious and comedy, or is a comedy with some serious moments... it kinda doesn’t work in the BLCD. I mean, SatoTaku and Junya did well during the serious parts, but they seem to stumble during the comedy or the parts that lead to the comedic moments. Maybe the comedy just doesn’t transition well into the audio adaptation. *shrugs*
Let’s jump straight into the voice work, shall we?
I was quite interested in listening to this ‘cause yo??? Juujin bottoms??? If Daath and Kai were in these tones in Kemonohito, I would ship them 100% lmao, but then, uhh, idk, Junya was kind of a mess here. We’ll get to SatoTaku later, but I feel like they didn’t record this together. I do not like how Junya drags his moans on during their bedroom Redcross donations because he sounds very out of sync with SatoTaku’s ministrations (this is only very obvious in the first, though). I think he also has a hard time expressing the deadpan humor Mitsuru has. Sometimes my mind wanders off and starts having thoughts of either Reio, Ban, or Shouhei potentially being a better option for Mitsuru. That might just be my other issue with Junya. He was a bit too low for Mitsuru. I feel like if he was in a higher register, then he would’ve been able to express Mitsuru’s feelings better.
Now, as for SatoTaku, the man wasn’t free of my suspicions either. SatoTaku was a little too smooth to match Anna’s equally deadpan humor. I’m not saying that SatoTaku can’t comedy ‘cause sis you’ve heard Sonna ni, right??? But as compared to Anna, Shinobu’s more dynamic a character. Niyama and Ginger also gave the cast time to prepare before a big change in moods. Huh, I’m starting to think that this is the same thing that went down in Takasaki Bosco’s Torokeru Kuchibiru. I feel like Makonyan or Ono Yuuki would’ve done this better. But I know, I FUCKING KNOW, why Fifth Avenue got SatoTaku for this.
Thanks to Fifth Avenue, I know have my ringtone set to SatoTaku saying “erro” in the Mini Drama on repeat.
Goddamn I fucking flatlined on that one. I wasn’t really expecting much from the Mini Dramas, so thanks. 👍
Anyway, I also have to say that the sound effects as well as the bgms suck balls lmao. FIFTH AVENUE PLS. The main piano bgm also starts and ends in random places. There was also this part where Anna jumps off from a fucking building to the floor on the ground, making a table flip. Like we all know how a table sounds like flipped, right??? It definitely won’t sound like a chair shaking! 😂 I don’t think Fifth Avenue even cared at that point.
This was actually a pretty decent adaptation despite the many issues I have with it. It’s pretty faithful to the manga too, although I would recommend reading the manga once before ‘cause you wouldn’t know what they were doing in real time without the visual cues. This is an action bl too, after all. If you’re looking for another vampire (the “biter” thing also threw me off a bit, but the “nectar” concept wouldn’t survive without ig) bl, I raise you Yuri Azuru’s Fujitsu de Fumou na Koi no Kami-kon starring Okitsu and Egu. That one’s a little disappointing on the action front, but it was a good vampire bl nontheless. Okitsu’s Lark was also a good comedic/spontaneous type, so that’s good vampire + comedy!
