uuuu. on my way home i walked past a DOG BAKERY which had like special dog treats and grooming services and a bunch of stuff. i walked past and saw a girl playing with and feeding her dog and i looked through the window before i realized she was filming and i was standing in the background. we made eye contact and she gave me the most hateful look of “what the fuck do you think youre doing, ruining my tiktok. im going to make fun of you online” ive ever seen in my life :( now im terrified shes gonna post literally anything with my face in it. my mood went from super happy “YAY DOGS” to “im going to die. im going to be killed today” in less than a fucking second
#i just laughed sort of nervously and did some sort of apologetic half wave before speedwalking out of there#right before that i took a picture of the sign outside and the cashier saw me and laughed at me too#but it was like. a friendly good natured laugh so it was only a little embarrassing#rather than. fucking mortifying

MOMENT... heizou x gn! reader.
❝ARE YOU FALLING INLOVE? I HAVE A FEELING YOU ARE.❞
GENRE : tooth rotting fluff.
SUMMARY : late nights with heizou.
AU : modern au.
UNEDITED.
REQUESTS : opened, read here for rules before requesting.
you just woke up from a.. not so long nap, you were gonna get up and check the time before heizou's hand captured your wrist. you slowly removed heizou's hand from your wrist as he shuffled in his sleep.
you got out of bed and put your slippers on, checking the time, it was still 1:23am. you went to the kitchen, trying not to make say noise up to wake your boyfriend.
you opened the microwave, seeing takoyaki inside that heizou brought home, you closed it again and microwaved it for a minute and a half, you went to the couch, sat down and grabbed your phone, turning down the volume a bit as you watched random tiktoks.
you heard the microwave ding, signing that it was done, as well as footsteps coming to you. "what're you even doing awake?" heizou asked, rubbing his eyes, as you went to the microwave to get the food out, you didn't answer his question, he thought as he sat down.
you sat back down with the box filled with takoyaki in your hands, as well as a pair of chopsticks. "open your mouth, heizou." you demanded, and he did.
you blew the food first because it was hot, and you fed him while he covers his mouth with his hand while chewing.
you opened your phone, feeding yourself and your boyfriend, while scrolling through tiktok again. after awhile, you both finished eating, as you asked, "wanna go out?"
he stayed silent for a second, one of his hair strands falling on his face. ".. really? at this time?" he asked with a disappointed tone, blowing the strand of hair out of his face as you nodded.
he sighed, "fine, just change, and get a mask." you smiled as you kissed him in his forehead as a thank you, while he rolled his eyes playfully.
you went inside the room you two shared as you picked out clothes. heizou came inside to you fully dressed as you looked at him and handed him a pile of clothes.
"wear this!" you said as you dashes out the door from your room, he sighed, but followed your instructions.
you waited for awhile, as you heard the door creak open, you saw your boyfriend in a black turtle neck and a dark green leather jacket, but he was wearing the jacket just on his back, not inseting his arms into the long sleeves, with the necklace you gave him.
"ahh.. your so pretty." you complimented as you pecked his lips, the male turning bright red. after that, you grabbed small sling bag with the keys and your phone. as heizou just grabbed his wallet and phone, going outside.
"good thing it isn't cold.." he muttered under his breath, while you closed the door and locked it behind you, as heizou held your hand.
"do you think there's a milktea shop opened right now at this time?" you asked, fixing your hair. he hummed, "isn't there one right around this corner?"
you awed at the sight of the city lights, as heizou pulled you by the waist to get you closer to him. you two finally spotted the shop as you went in, with no one inside.
the waiters welcomed you, as you both went up to the cashier ordering and paying, you headed to your seats as you sighed, waiting for the drinks.
the waitress handed you two your drinks, as heizou stabbed his straw in the drink and drank, you took a picture, posting it on twitter.
unfortunately for you, he was scrolling on twitter, so he had a good chance of seeing it.
don't mind the time.. lmfao
the older male chuckled as he liked your post, after awhile, he proposed to go home because you two thought you both spent too much time in that shop. so you agreed.
you said thank you to the workers there, and went home, changed into pajamas while heizou kissed you good night.

Hi! I really love your fushiguro daughter x Gojo headcanons! I saw where you said we can request, so May I request a where the student trio were babysitting baby fushiguro one day and they lost her in public and they have to tell Gojo. What’s their and Gojo’s reaction when they can’t find her for an entire day (week perhaps?)
student trio loses scarlet witch! baby fushiguro! reader
jujutsu kaisen x reader
masterlist of the series
warning(s): anime/manga spoilers
thank you for requesting! hope you enjoy this prompt <3
i'm not doing a week because i think we both know hell will break [sweatdrop]
your brother, megumi, along with his friends yuji and nobara could have sworn they had you with them. the three of them took you out to your favorite place, which was the pokemon center mega in tokyo, particularly in toshima city.
"how the hell did you lose [name]!?" megumi was panicking, he had never lose you before. let alone in such a crowded place before.
yuji raised his hands defensively at megumi. "i swear i was holding her hand!"
yuji really was certain that he was holding your hand as you ran towards the isle of your favorite pokemon plushies. yuji also made sure to dash off to wherever you ran off to because you tend to have your zoomies. your legs could run a mile, but they had no idea you could disappear just like that without a trace!
"oi, oi. let's not fight!" nobara pushed the two boys apart, sensing a fight brewing between them. "let's focus on finding [name], not yelling at each other's faces."
"gojo-sensei is going to kill us." yuji sweatdropped.
the three of them split up, deciding it'd be more efficient to look for you that way. megumi thoroughly searched the entire pokemom center mega, thinking you hadn't gotten that far. he even resorted to asking the person fronting the cashier to page your name, but you didn't come to where your brother was and no one had seen you either.
nobara and yuji headed outside as megumi decided to stay behind just in case you come back. yuji headed towards your favorite restaurant, hoping to find you there. you did love their katsudon so much, you had to be there! nobara, on the other hand, spent her time asking people and left right if they had seen you, showing them a picture of you in her phone at the same time. just like megumi, nobara and yuji were hopeless.
hours had gone by, they still had no clue where you had ran off to. megumi was stressfully pacing back and forth, completely worried that a cursed spirit of sort had hurt you or even worse, a zenin had kidnapped you. even if gojo told him that he taught you what to do when a stranger approaches you, you were still a naive child! anyone could take you.
"this doesn't make any sense. i swear i was holding her hand, she just disappeared!" yuji ran his fingers through his salmon-pink hair.
nobara glanced at megumi with her chin resting in between her thumb and index finger. "say, fushiguro. do you think [name] used a technique?"
"that's impossible." megumi sighed, "[name] is just like my dad. they don't have any cursed energy, kugisaki."
"are you sure?" nobara frowned. "didn't she enter sukuna's domain?"
"i doubt she was responsible for that. gojo had never told me anything about [name] showing any cursed energy before." megumi said in response.
evening had already came, there were still no signs of you anywhere. the three of them begrudgingly went to the meeting place that gojo told them about empty handed.
"there you guys are!" gojo raised a hand at megumi, nobara and yuji. he approached them and pushed down his glasses when he saw the frown on their faces. "why the long faces? did [name] trouble you that much? wait—where is [name]?" he peered over behind them only to find you missing.
"we.. we lost [name]." yuji took the initiative to speak first, feeling incredibly responsible for losing you since he was the one supposedly holding your hand earlier.
the student trio watched as gojo froze on the spot. they had never seen their teacher look so.. intimidating for once. his crystalline blue eyes instilled fear in them.
"why didn't you tell me right away?" gojo pinched the bridge of his nose, taking in a sharp breath as he looked at his students in the eye. "how long has [name] been missing?"
"the entire day." megumi swallowed thickly. "we didn't want to worry you."
nobara proceeded to explain to gojo how you mysteriously disappeared without a trace. gojo sweatdropped, he hadn't been exactly truthful to his students about the 'cursed energy' you had been exhibiting.
hours had gone by since they looked for you again with gojo's help this time. they absolutely had no idea where you had ran off to this time. gojo even resorted into sneaking in the zenin estate, thinking you got kidnapped by them, but you weren't there. megumi was beginning to lose hope along with your father-figure. he failed to be there for you as your older brother.
midnight had finally came, the four of them were worn out from looking around. nobara and yuji had already reported you missing to the police, gojo may look calm on the outside, but if you look behind his glasses, his eyes said otherwise.
"gumi-nii?"
gojo snapped his head at the direction of your voice. the four of them were standing outside the police station. megumi practically bolted, unable to hold himself back from running up to you. your brother scooped you in his arms, holding you as if his life depended on you. megumi really thought he had lost you.
"oh god, [name]!" megumi buried his face against the back of your head. "we were looking everywhere for you! where did you go? are you hurt?"
gojo trailed after megumi, sighing in relief at the sight of you alive. "kikufuku, where did you go? what happened, baby?" he bombarded you with questions just like megumi. "itadori told me you disappeared while he was holding your hand."
you giggled, completely oblivious to the fact that they spent an entire day looking for you. "i saw a friend today!"
"friend?" gojo glanced at megumi, yuji and nobara, the four of them shared a perplexed expression before looking at you in concern.
"who's this friend of yours honey?"
"he.. he kinda looks like mike wazowski, but he has a pretty big smile!" you claimed enthusiastically with star-lit eyes.
"his brother made my hair. look!" you pointed at your hair that was tied into pigtails with red strings. the braids that nobara did were undone.
the four of them paled. you were with someone, but who? who were these people?
"pretty hair." nobara smiled at you, "who's this friend of yours? i want my hair tied in pig-tails too [name]-chan."
you pouted, eyes expressing confusion. "i don't know his name. i never got his name."
"baby, honey, what did i tell you about going with strangers?" gojo took you from megumi's arms to hold you in his arms. "thank god you're okay, please don't run off like that again. tell your gumi-nii and his friends when you're going out somewhere next time."
you simply nodded, "okay!"
gojo and his students almost died at the thought of losing you. they were extremely relieved at the sight of you being alive and well. however this alerted them, none of them could make sense of the people you were with, but they all thought of the same thing.
you were with curses the entire day.
the playful and usual cocky aura of their gojo-sensei returned after the students apologized for losing you in tokyo and when you were found.
you and gojo said your goodbyes after gojo forgave them. technically, it wasn't their fault since they had no clue you could disappear like that.
and as he carried you in his arms to go back home, you smiled and waved your hand at the other brother of 'mike wazowski' who fetched you at the police station after you spent an entire day playing with him and his brothers when you left your own brother and his two friends.
he was hiding behind the lamp post, smiling and waving at you with his eyes closed.
"bye-bye!" you mouthed inaudibly so that gojo wouldn't hear you.
gosh, if only you knew how you almost gave them a heart attack [name].

Chips and Orange Soda
Brooklyn Nine-Nine One Shot
Pairing: Reader x Jake Peralta
Other Characters: Raymond Holt, Rosa Diaz
Warnings: theft
Summary: When a series of bodegas are robbed, Holt assigns Jake and Rosa on the case. You, a cashier, become a suspect, but Jake has a gut feeling that you’re not a suspect at all. In fact, he thinks you’re the key to solving the case.
Part Two: Chips and Orange Soda (part ii)
Word Count: 2,697
A/N: my submission for @locke-writes‘ writing challenge! i know everyone wanted me to post the whole fic at once but then it ended up being 5k+ words i made the executive decision that it was probably best for everyones sanity to split it up into 2 parts. think of it as a commercial break in the episode <3 i’m gonna disclaimer this by saying that i’m not a cop or in law enforcement. idk how this shit works. i tried my best but this isn’t legally accurate. anyway! based on the prompt: “You come here often?” “Well, I work here. So I think I’d have to say ‘yes’.”
reblog/feedback/comments are very much appreciated!!!
“Not late! I’m not late!” Jake announces, rushing into the briefing room with his bag still slung over his shoulder. He ignores the eye rolls from Amy and Terry, and plops down in the seat Charles has saved for him. He leans back, dumping his bag on the floor as he tries to catch his breath, before noticing Holt’s disapproving stare. “I’m not! Look, I’m right on time!”
Jake points over at the clock hanging on the wall, and Holt glances over his shoulder before turning back to Jake. “You’re fifteen minutes late, Peralta. That clock broke down two days ago.”
Jake takes a proper look at the clock, which, sure enough, is frozen at three minutes past two o’clock.
“Okay, well…” Jake cringes. “I had a flat tire?”
“As I was saying,” Holt ignores Jake’s excuse, reorganizing the case files on the podium as the squad quickly focuses. Pulling up a few pictures on the television, Holt curtly explains, “Two bodegas were robbed last night, and we suspect it may be the same person, or group or people, who robbed the three bodegas last week. Thankfully, no one was injured, but we need to crack down on this case before it happens again.”
The squad nods in agreement, and Amy taps her pen against the desk as she takes notes. Gesturing towards Rosa, Holt asks, “Diaz, you were investigating last week’s robberies. Where are you in solving the case?”
“Nowhere, sir.” Rosa begrudgingly admits, folding her arms across her chest as she shakes her head. “Forensics dusted the place for prints but found nothing, and the security footage was crap. Couldn’t pull any good images because it was so old. All I know is that it looks like at least two individuals are involved.”
Holt slowly nods, pressing his lips together as he deliberates this. Pointing at Jake, he orders, “Conduct some interviews around the block, see if anyone saw anything. Perhaps you’ll have more luck this time. And take Peralta with you, you’ll be able to cover more ground. Everyone, you’re dismissed.”
Jake looks over his shoulder to exchange a nod with Rosa before everyone gets to their feet. Holt closes up his file, and quickly stops Jake before he can leave the room, “Oh, and Jake?”
Jake pauses in the doorway. “Yes, sir?”
“While you’re out, you can get some new batteries for the clock.” Holt points back at the defunct clock. Raising an eyebrow, Holt continues, “So next time, you can actually take a look at how late you are.”
Beside him, Amy can’t help but snort at Jake’s expense, and he resists the urge to roll his eyes.
—
Jake jogs over to the bodega, a cup of coffee in hand from the nearby food cart. He ducks under the police tape bordering the store, and he gingerly steps around the shattered glass scattered on the pavement. He can already see Rosa inside, taking off her sunglasses and hooking them on the collar of her shirt, and he can see that the forensics team have already marked up the scene. Rosa looks up as Jake approaches, and she informs him, “This one’s different from the others; they actually broke in instead of picking the lock. Otherwise, they took all the cash, and it doesn’t look like anything from the inventory was taken.”
“Which is kinda weird, considering this place has pretty cool chip flavors and orange soda.” Jake points to a nearby shelf, and Rosa shoots him a look. Shrugging, Jake looks at the rest of the shelves and the fridge as he mumbles to himself, “I’m just saying.”
“Security footage from this whole week is missing too.” Rosa continues. She groans, shaking her head as she takes another glance around the scene. “I don’t know how we’re going to get anywhere with this.”
The two of them make their way back outside, where a small crowd is now lingering outside the store, curiously trying to peek inside as the cops try to corral everyone. Pointing at them, Rosa suggests, “Maybe we can find a witness.”
Jake follows her gaze, quickly sweeping over the individuals before his gaze lands on you. Your eyes momentarily meet, but you quickly look away and turn your attention back to the smashed glass. You’re cute, Jake thinks to himself with a grin, all bundled up in a denim jacket that, and when you turn to look at something over your shoulder, he can’t help but notice has a cool design of some planets stitched on the back. Rolling back his shoulders, Jake holds out his cup of coffee, and he says, “Allow me to handle this, Rosa,”
Rosa rolls her eyes at the annoyingly confident tone Jake quickly adopts, and pointedly refuses to hold Jake’s coffee for him.
“Alright then,” Jake awkwardly takes his coffee back, and he gulps down the rest, fanning his tongue as it burns his mouth. Tossing it aside into a nearby trash can, Jake quickly composes himself, readjusting his jacket before approaching you. He offers you his hand, and you hesitate before shaking it, and Jake introduces, “Hey, I’m Detective Peralta. Cool jacket, by the way.”
“y/n.” you introduce yourself with a small smile, shaking his hand before you pull away to self consciously tug at the sleeves of your jacket. “And thanks. My friend made it for me as a birthday gift.”
“Nice,” Jake grins at you, before gesturing over his shoulder. “You come here often? It’s a pretty awesome bodega.”
“Uh, well, I work here.” you slowly respond, and you can see something in Jake’s expression falter as his cheeks get red. You bite back a smile as you continue, “So I think I’d have to say ‘yes’.”
“Cool, cool, cool, cool,” Jake nods, fumbling to come up with a response. His palms suddenly feel sweaty, and he scrambles to think of his next question.
“I’ll let our owner know, by the way.” you pipe up, and Jake blinks at you. Nervously chuckling, you add, “That you think the bodega is awesome. He’ll appreciate it.”
“Oh!” Jake laughs, and you can’t help but smile. Gesturing to the store, Jake continues, “I’ve gotta say, your snack selection is the best I’ve ever seen. I mean, you’ve got every flavor of everything in there! Also, any place that carries orange soda is automatically awesome in my book.”
“Well of course,” you respond with a smile. “It’s the best flavor!”
“Right?!” Jake perks up, and the both of you dissolve into laughter before Jake looks over his shoulder and notices Rosa glaring at him. Quickly clamming up, Jake attempts to focus himself, and his eyes widen as he remembers the fact that you work here. “Are you the cashier or something?”
“Yep.” you nod, stuffing your hands into the pockets of your jacket. “I just worked yesterday, too. I can’t believe someone robbed it last night.”
“What time were you here until?” Jake asks.
“The shop closes around midnight, and I was the one who locked up.” you answer, shifting your weight from one foot to another. Jake can’t help but notice as you momentarily break his gaze, and you glance at the store before back at him. “Usually our owner, Gabriel, closes up, but he’s been sick this past week, so I’ve been helping out.”
“Got it,” Jake nods, mentally taking note of all this information. The both of you look up as Rosa joins in on the conversation, and Jake continues, “And I’m assuming you didn’t see any sign of suspicious activity before you left?”
You shake your head, uneasily glancing over at Rosa as she looks at you. “Sorry, Detective.”
“No, you’ve actually been super helpful.” Jake reassures you, and he offers you a friendly smile that puts you at ease. You relax, and Jake continues, “It helps us roughly estimate when the crime took place. Do you know anything about your security footage, by the way? This is my partner, Detective Diaz, and she noticed the footage was somehow erased.”
Something in your expression shifts, and Jake can’t quite read the look on your face. Rosa narrows her eyes at you, and after a pause, you respond, “I think our cameras have been down.”
Jake and Rosa exchange an uncertain glance, and you can feel your stomach twisting into knots as you know they don’t look convinced. The atmosphere becomes intense, especially as you feel yourself under Rosa’s stern gaze, and Jake quickly tries to lighten the mood as he tells you, “I think that’s it. Thanks for answering our questions, y/n.”
You nod, and Jake’s eyebrows furrow as your gaze lingers on him, your lips moving as if you want to tell him more. But you stop yourself, taking in a deep breath, before responding, “If there’s anything I can do to help, let me know.”
You turn on your heel, and Jake watches as you head down the block. He looks over to see Rosa studying you, before she shakes her head. “I don’t like it, Jake. They seemed suspicious to me.”
“They were just nervous.” Jake finds himself defending you. “And probably a little frazzled, too. They were the last one in the shop, if they had stayed any longer, they could’ve been in danger.”
“Or they could have something to do with the crime.” Rosa counteracts, and Jake lets out a sigh. Leaning towards him, Rosa continues, “I know we don’t have solid evidence, but I just have a feeling something’s up, Jake. Plus, it doesn’t help that you were flirting.”
Jake gapes at her. “I was not flirting!”
“Look, we need to solve this before Holt gets on my case about it.” Rosa insists. Jake lets out a sigh, before glancing down the direction you walked, and he can just barely see your figure heading into the subway station.
“I’ll be right back.” Jake tells her, and before Rosa can stop him, he jogs after you. By the time he’s entered the station, he’s terribly out of breath, and he manages to catch you before you enter through the turnstile. “y/n!”
You look up upon hearing your name and you pause as Jake stops in front of you. He bends over, trying to catch his breath, and you patiently wait for him. Through heavy breaths, Jake manages to puff out, “Yeah, sorry, super unfit. The chips and the orange soda clearly don’t help.”
Jake tries his best not to cringe at what he feels like is the lamest joke he’s ever made, but to his surprise, you laugh. A genuine laugh, not a cruel, teasing one, but one with a wide smile that makes Jake feel like he’s on top of the world. Tilting your head, you manage to say in between chuckles, “You’re pretty funny, Detective.”
“Call me Jake.” Jake insists, finally regaining his breath, and you grin at him. “Hey, any chance I could get your number? For professional reasons of course, in case we need to contact you again. Or I could just give you my number if you feel better doing it that way.”
You seem hesitant, but you nod. He fumbles through his pocket, pulling out an old receipt and a pen that barely has enough ink in it, and you scribble out your number before handing it back to him, “I work every day but Tuesdays, too, so you’ll be able to catch me at work if you need me.”
“Got it.” Jake nods, tucking the receipt into his pocket. “Thanks for your help, y/n.”
The expression that Jake can’t decipher crosses your face again, a look of pensiveness, of hesitation. But you shake it off, quickly plastering on a smile, and you nod, “Have a good day, Jake. And… good luck.”
—
Jake and Rosa sit in the break room, a laptop open between them as they flip through countless CCTV videos from the blocks nearby the bodega. Rosa becomes increasingly aggressive with the keyboard with each video she clicks through, and Jake impatiently shakes his head. He groans, rubbing his fingers up against his temple as he complains, “This is killing me. If I have to look at one more minute of another grainy video, I’m going to lose it.”
Rosa rolls her eyes, leaning back in her chair as she folds her arms across her chest. She kicks Jake’s chair with her boot, and she points out, “This is all we have, Jake.”
Jake sighs, but nods. Rosa had interviewed some people in the neighboring apartments, some of which reported hearing smashed glass around three in the morning, but hadn’t called it in on the assumption it was a clumsy accident from a downstairs neighbor. It at least gave them a time of the crime, but as Rosa unfortunately pointed out, it didn’t give them much else. The CCTV didn’t seem to pick up on anything interesting, no speeding cars, and a brief moment of footage that might’ve captured the suspects only showed their retreating backs. The forensics team had also swept over all the evidence from the bodega, but had yet to find anything incriminating, not even a single fingerprint which could help lead the investigation somewhere.
“These guys clearly know what they were doing.” Rosa grumbles, jabbing her finger into the screen. “They know to avoid all the camera spots.”
“I hate smart criminals. Why can’t they all be dumb and just make it easier for us?” Jake whines, and Rosa rolls her eyes.
“Have you talked to y/n lately?” Rosa asks, and Jake shakes his head, hoping Rosa doesn’t notice the faint blush that lights up his cheeks at the mere mention of your name.
“No, Rosa, who do you think I am? That’s way too forward.” Jake scoffs, before his expression turns serious. It’s been a little over a week since your interaction, and he looks at Rosa before continuing, “Unless you don’t think it’s too forward. Should I text them?”
Rosa resists the urge to punch Jake’s arm, and she deadpans, “Talked to them about the case, Jake, not for a date.”
“Right.” Jake nods, clearly flustered, and Rosa rolls her eyes again. Wiping his slightly sweaty palms on his jeans, Jake corrects himself, “No, I haven’t talked to y/n.”
Rosa leans her elbows forward on the desk. “I think we should call them in again. You know, see if there’s anything we can get out of them. Kind it seems like they’re the only lead we have.”
“You don’t still suspect them, do you?” Jake asks, eyebrows furrowing, and he lets out a sigh as Rosa shrugs. Shaking his head, Jake insists, “I really don’t think it’s them, Rosa.”
“Jake…” Rosa starts, shooting him a look, and Jake quickly waves his hand, brushing her off as he already knows what’s coming next.
“Alright, I’ll reach out to them, see if there’s anything more they can tell us.” Jake reluctantly says, and Rosa nods. Pointing back at the computer, Jake asks, “Does this mean I can stop watching these boring videos?”
“Fine.” Rosa grumbles, angling the laptop towards herself as Jake grins. He grabs his jacket hanging off the back of his chair, and he sneaks one last glance at the grainy video before darting out the room. He pauses, his eyes narrowing, and he points at the screen.
“Wait, what’s that?” Jake points at the corner of the video, where a figure rushes down the street. Rosa squints, and she pauses the video for Jake to get a better look. His eyes widen, and his expression pales slightly, and he asks, “What time was this footage from?”
“Five in the morning.” Rosa replies, checking the timestamp. Looking up at Jake, she asks, “Why? What is it?”
“Nothing.” Jake hurriedly remarks, and Rosa frowns. Before she can demand an answer from Jake, he’s already rushed out of the break room, swiftly exiting the bullpen as he dodges Terry on his way out.
It’s not nothing, but Jake knows he can’t tell Rosa that. Not when the figure in the video was wearing a distinctive denim jacket with planets stitched on the back.

Steven Universe Gravity Falls AU
~Yknow what they say, if you run out of content, ya gotta make it yourself. This is a ? shot (I might continue or not who knows not me) please don’t ask for more I have 18 unfinished fanfics on this site.~
California was nice, Steven had to admit. The people were nice, the food was fantastic, and the weather was splendid. It reminded him a lot of Beach City. Though there were just so many people, and traveling north, Steven was beginning to long for something small and simple again.
Oregon was the perfect place for that, right?
“Ronaldo wants pictures of Bigfoot, and if anyone can find him, its you Steven.” Petey’s voice was faint on Steven’s phone speaker, tossed into the passenger seat as Steven blindly picked a highway exit.
“Sure Petey, but couldn’t Ronaldo just go to a circus?”
“Not big feet Steven,” Petey emphasized, “Bigfoot.”
“Saying it twice isn’t helping buddy.” Steven was half paying attention. He was focusing on the winding roads and the looming trees surrounding him. Deep, in the pit of Steven’s stomach, he felt something start to tug him toward one direction farther away from the highway. He wasn’t quite sure if it was a good or bad feeling yet.
“Forget it, I’m going to take a blurry photo of that mean Gem in the woods and say its Bigfoot.”
“Just don’t let Jasper catch you, she’s no joke when she’s angry.”
“I saw her ripping grass out of the ground I think I’ll be fine. Later dude.”
Steven heard a small click and smiled to himself. He’s happy to see how far the people of Beach City have come and how they’ve taken to the gems. He remembers when the Crystal Gems were once the outcasts of town that locals warned you to stay away from.
He looked up to see a welcome sign.
“Gravity falls. Well, that’s a funny name.”
—
Steven wanted small and simple but he feels he may have overshot it.
This small town had exactly three attractions. A town museum that mentioned marrying woodpeckers (Steven couldn’t figure out if that was a normal human thing, like taxes and velcro), a small diner, and as one local described it ‘some tourist trap’ deep in the woods. It was a sticky summer day and the former two attractions didn’t have airconditioning. Steven gambled on the last stop in hopes of stretching his legs and maybe finding a source to the strange feeling in his gut. It had become much stronger since he entered this small town. Alluring, but nothing related to Gems as far as Steven could tell.
He parked in the nearly empty lot and stepped out. Jacket wrapped loosely around his hips, Steven made his way inside.
A girl that looked about 13 was petting a pig on the front porch. She was incredibly reflective, and depsite the heat wore a knitted bedazzled sweater that made her glow like a disco ball in the sun.
She looked Steven up and down as he approached, a wide smile taking up her face and Steven saw bright braces with colored bands.
“Hi!” She launched upwards, startling the pig away, “I’m Mabel, but you can call me anytime.” The girl winked and stuck out her hand, palm facing the floor.
Steven blinked.
“Mabel, stop scaring away the customers!” A gruff voice yelled through the screen door, and soon an older man stepped out in a suit, wearing a fez and eyepatch.
Immediately the old man squinted at Steven, sizing him up.
Stanley Pines knew this teen wasn’t local, but he wasn’t sure if he had any money. For all he knew he was another boy trying to hit on his giftshop cashier, Wendy.
Oh well, a customer is a customer.
“Come in, come in, and see our mystical and magical wonders!”
“Magical?” This could be it, Steven could figure out why this town has felt off. Maybe it was gem related after all.
Quickly this older man who had introduced himself as Mr. Mystery gave Steven a tour of what looked like failed taxidermy projects. Now Steven may have a lived a sheltered childhood, but he felt pretty confident there was no such thing as a Sashcrotch. And so far, nothing had felt magical or mysterious.
“That concludes our tour! Here is our mistifying giftshop and it’s purchasable wonders!”
“Right...” Well, at the very least he was able to spend some time in airconditioning.
There was a girl behind the desk in plaid that looked about Steven’s age, and just a half inch shorter than him. She looked bored, flipping through a magazine as a young boy that looked a lot like Mabel made googly eyes as he swept by the door.
Steven guessed there was no harm in asking around.
“Hi, I’m Steven.” He smiled easily, walking up to the register.
“No refunds, even if an exhibit bit you.” She sighed, peeking up before turning back to her magazine.
“Oh no, nothing bit me, I just wanted to know something.”
She looked up to get a better look at Steven and gave a small smirk.
“Sure, but only because I like your shirt. Mr. Universe merch, now that’s a deep cut.”
Unbeknownst to Steven, Dipper Pines would had been watching the exchange felt a twinge of uneasiness as this out of towner talked with Wendy.
“Have you ever seen anything strange or weird actually happen in this town?”
Wendy’s smile dropped.
“Why do you ask?” Her eyes flickered to Dipper, just for a moment, and that was all he needed to rush over.
“Excuse me sir, please buy something or exit the store.” Dipper spoke in the deepest voice he could muster.
Steven looked over with a questioning expression.
“Oh sure uh-“ He blindly reached for the wad of bills that his dad had given to him before he left. Steven pulled out a hundred dollar bill and put it on the counter. Wendy looked up baffled as Steven stuffed the other cash back in his wallet.
“Boy was I wrong about you kid!” Mr. Mystery, seemingly materializing out of nowhere, now bounded over. He had loosened his tie and lost the eyepatch which turned out he never needed.
“Whaddya wanna know? I’ll tell you everything. There’s gnomes in the woods you know-“
“Grunkle Stan!” Dipper protested loudly, dragging his Stan away and harshly whispering at him.
“Did you steal that money?” Wendy asked as Steven watched the pair whisper fight in the corner. He turned back to the girl and gave a sheepish smile.
“Uh no, my dad gave it to me before this roadtrip. He’s actually Mr. Universe.”
Wendy lit up.
“No freaking way! Your dad is Mr. Universe? I only got into him since he managed Sadie Killer and the Suspects and they always perform covers of his songs on tour, I can’t believe he’s your dad!” She rambled, stars in her eyes. Steven beamed, he loved when people praised his dad’s music. Greg really deserved it.
Steven learned Wendy’s name and they swapped stories back and forth, only interrupted as the girl from outside slowly rose from the behind the counter beaming.
“A cute musician that loves weird stuff, take me now.” She swooned. Steven blushed profusely, not used to the attention.
“Sorry, my girlfriend Connie probably wouldn’t like that very much.” He said gently. Mabel looked him up and down and pouted.
“I can wait, but not forever.” She warned, and winked, bounding to break apart her grunkle and Dipper, who are now whisper screaming with arms flailing.
“I wasn’t going to mention that Dorito shaped jerk! Just the normal stuff!”
“It’s dangerous! He could be a spy, or government, or another stack of gnomes!”
Steven raised an eyebrow and looked at Wendy. She chuckled and shrugged. Steven carefully approached them.
“He can hear everything you’re saying anyways so might as well tell him!” Mabel interrupted, nodding towards Steven as he came up.
“If it makes you feel any better, I’m definitely not government.” Steven technically didn’t exist at all. He never had a social security card and didn’t have a birth certificate.
Dipper only glared. Rich strangers with an interest in the paranormal didn’t come through gravity falls without some kind of agenda.
Steven hated the conflict he was starting. No information was worth this family fighting.
“Okay,” he surrendered, hands up, “I’ll just go. I’ll stick around town until tomorrow if you change your minds”
“Wait Steven-”
“Let him go Wendy,” Dipper glared as the boy in pink walked out, “We can’t trust him.”
“But I was going to ask for Sadie tickets...” Wendy groaned, defeated.
“There’s something weird about him.”
“Great!” Mabel beamed, “He’ll fit right in.”
~.~
Steven wasn’t crazy about sleeping in his car, but was seriously considering it after seeing the state of his motel room. It looked like it hadn’t been used in decades, a thin line of dust covering every surface. He was also pretty sure they didn’t even have free ice.
“Wish Pearl were here..” He mumbled, exhausted. He curled up on top of the covers, fully clothed, and let sleep take him.
Being Steven Universe however, meant rest was sure to allude the half alien.
Steven found himself in a dark space, fog all around him. Before a word could come out of his mouth he heard a fast, repetitive muttering.
“Stranger...Wendy looked pretty today..Can’t trust...Tell no one...Ford isn’t here..”
“What, the-” Steven quietly walked toward the source of dialogue, and saw the faded silhouette of the boy from the Mystery Shack. His back was turned to him, but Steven recognized the blue vest and mosquito bitten legs.
“I thought I was over the dream hopping.” Steven spoke a tad too loudly, starting the young boy - Dipper.
“What-” Dipper’s eyes grew wide in panic, and the boy fell back harshly.
“No, no, you can’t be in my head!”
“Wait, I’m not-” Steven tried to reassure him, stepping carefully towards the boy but Dipper let out a screech of terror, sweat gathering around his temples.
“Bill sent you didn’t he?! He’s not really gone- he’s going to hurt Mable again-” Dipper began to hyperventilate.
“Dipper please,” Steven took a step back, arms in the air in surrender.
“I-”
“I’m not going to hurt you I swear on the gems.” He placed a hand over his heart. “This is a total invasion of privacy but it’s something that happens when someone’s emotions are out of control-”
“How are you here?” Dipper demanded, scrambling to his feet. “Tell me what you are and what you want.”
“I’m just passing through!” Steven insisted, then lowered his tone to calm the younger boy. “I’m kinda of magnet for weird stuff. I just wanted to help in case anything was going on.”
“We deal with things just fine around here.” Dipper spat, then watched as Steven deflated. He seemed tired, like he hasn't slept well in a while.
“So what are you anyways? How can you be here?”
Steven winced, and laughed nervously. “It’s kind of a long story..”
Dipper raised and eyebrow and swept his arm around the void dramatically.
“You have until dawn.”
~
“I thought that was a conspiracy theory, it wasn’t even covered by major news outlets.” Dipper look exhausted, cross legged on the unseen floor as he ran his hands through his hair.
“I think Garnet is pretty persuasive when it comes to government and reporters. They all kinda fall in love with her.”
“She’s the one that’s really two aliens?”
Steven shook his head with a small smile. “It’s hard to explain but yes, I guess that comes close.”
“That’s actually insane. I’m insane, aren’t I?” Dipper stood up, leaving Steven on sitting next to an empty space. “It’s been too quiet around here and now I’m so desperate for weird, that I’m making it all up in my head.”
“I get that feeling.” Steven smiled without humor, “but no, this is real. I’ll prove it when you wake up.” Steven felt a shift, the fog in the void getting denser.
“Sooner than I thought, you’re an early riser huh?”
Dipper looked back at Steven, panicked. “You’ll come to the Shack again right? In just a bit?”
Steven smiled. “Promise.”
~
Dipper woke up to his sister braiding his hair. Mabel still had her pjs on, and a make up kit next to the bed. Dipper frowned, tasting strawberry shortcake.
“Stop testing party looks on me, Mabel.”
“Stop having my face structure and maybe I will.” She grinned, covered in blue glitter.
Dipper quickly washed up and got dressed for the day, feeling like he was anxiously waiting for something but not quite remembering what.
He felt like he had a strange dream last night...
He quickly remembered, choking on cereal as Steven walked into the shack right as it opened. Hair slightly frizzy from the heat and eyes strangely tired. Maybe dream hopping took energy that he anticipated.
“Steven!”
“Meal ticket!”
“Grunkle Stan.” Mabel chastised as Dipper rushed over to the older boy.
“Good morning everyone.”
Dipper stopped short, slightly hoping that everything he experienced wasn’t just his imagination. That everything exciting and weird and interesting wasn’t always trying to kill him, ruin his life, or steal his candy.
Steven looked tired, like he had been doing this much longer than Dipper, but he had still come out with enough energy to smile.
“Not insane?” Dipper asked hopefully, quietly. Steven snapped his attention from his Grunkle and Mable bickering down to the Dipper. He gave a reassuring smile, eyes quite serious.
“Not insane.”

Haikyuu!!
timeskip! Ushijima Wakatoshi X Y/n (one shot)
a/n : I'm sorry there is no picture for Wakatoshi, i forgot about it when I wrote him (ಥ﹏ಥ). also please comment or ask if you want to help me improve more.
*I do not own the images nor the character(s), only for visual reference*
Warnings - bullying, slight suggestive in the end. If there's more please tell me :) also this is not proofread.
Genre - angst to fluff
Total - 1207 words
let’s begin! :)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Ushijima-san kinda looks abit off today” Kageyama observed his teammate from his position. The game was about to start in 15 minutes and ushijima’s expression was gloomier and his aura gave off a certain vibe that warded off most of his teammates.
“I think he’s pouting” Hinata suggested. They all looked his way for a further explanation, “well y/n-san was here earlier but she had work so she couldn’t stay for the game. Therefore, I think he’s just missing her right now and pouting because she’s missing his game for the first time since they’ve started dating” he concluded.
The team amazed at his hypothesis and generally agreed about the possibility and ended the gossip there. Though the hypothesis was somewhat true it actually wasn’t. Ushijima heard them spoke about it and thought in his head about all the things that actually happened.
You came to the stadium for a brief meet up with Ushijima and hand him a bento box for him to eat after the game. You told Ushijima that you had to finish up work and couldn’t come to watch his game when actually you were just going to go shopping for a gift for his birthday tomorrow.
His expression was like a big puppy losing his favorite toy when you told him. It made you almost regret telling him this because you have never missed his games before and it surely made your heart strings tug when you saw his droopy lips.
You kissed him on the cheeks and hugged him tightly, wishing him luck. You let go and waved while walking backwards, he in turn waved a small bye to you. You sigh and turn around while walking to your parked car outside and quickly drove to your favorite mall.
Inside you head straight to the lingerie store and picked the most lace and silk sets. Thinking about your reaction when he sees you in this. You let out a giggle and head to the cashier to pay. On your way out, you saw Ushijima’s fangirls that frequently spoke about bad things behind you during games.
You rolled your eyes and head straight for your car. “hey! Ushijima’s fling! What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to support your boyfriend right now?” a girl spoke.
“seriously? Why are you here and not watching his game right now?” girl 2 spoke up.
“if I was his girlfriend, I would definitely not miss his games” the third girl spoke.
You quickly ignored them and sat in your car. Processing everything they told you and realized that what they said was true because you could have bought his gift earlier and made it to Ushijima’s game today and not ruin his mood before the match.
You tilt your head down, feeling anguished at your own naïve thoughts about prioritizing his gifts instead of his game, you drove home slumped and depressed.
You closed the door behind you and slid down, curling up your knees into your chest and sat there for a few minutes before standing up and going towards your shared bedroom. You placed the gift on the ground and kicked it lightly under the bed.
Feeling dejected at the recurring thoughts from earlier, you changed into Ushijima’s shirt and slid under the covers of your bed. You found the tv remote on your nightstand and switched it on, changing the channel to the sports channel and leaned back to watch his team conquer the court and win the match.
By the end of it, your eyes were slightly teary from missing his match and switched the tv off and pull the covers over your head.
Ushijima had packed his bag and pulled out his phone from his jacket, calling you but was never received. It was odd because you never not picked up his call, this made him worry and made his way to the captain to tell him that he won’t make it to the celebration party.
Seeing Ushijima’s desperate face made the captain look taken aback by it and quickly assured him that they would do fine without him for the party. He quickly bowed to him and run towards the entrance to find a taxi.
When Ushijima came home it was already 10pm, he looked everywhere for you. Starting with your office and being told that you took a day off made his worry grew more. His next thought would be that you went to the café where your first date with him had started. After going around the town from shops after shops that you always frequent to and no sign of you had made the volleyball player worried to the point that his eyebrows might permanently stay in its furrowed position.
He sighed placing his keys on the table next to the door and concluded that you just didn’t want to see him today after not finding you anywhere. He stopped in his tracks when he saw your shoes in the shoe rack and quickly took his off.
He was so stupid for not figuring out that you could have been at home this whole time. He stomped up the stairs and towards your bedroom, slamming the door open and breathing a sigh of relief seeing your state of unconsciousness curled up on the bed and hugging his pillow.
His beating heart accelerated abit when he saw your sleeping face was drenched in tears and your swollen eyes. His heart broke and stride towards your figure and pull you towards him simultaneously waking you up.
You blinked the sticky tears and looked up at Ushijima giving you a concerned look and brushing your hair away from you face. Surprised at his expression, you sat up and wiped the tears away while looking away from him.
This made Ushijima hold your chin and turn your head towards him, you sniffled abit and tried to calm down your beating heart. His gaze was soft as he looked into your eyes and was quiet the whole time until you were ready to talk.
You finally calmed down and closed your eyes releasing a huge sigh. You looked straight into his eyes and confessed about your plans for today including the events that occurred at the mall. After you finish, his gaze softened and without a word he pulled you into his arms.
He stroked your hair with his left and wrapped the other around your waist. He pulled back slightly and looked into your eyes and assured you with a few words “I am yours and you are mine”. He held your jaw in his palm and pulled you to his lips.
After a long make out session he smirked cheekily at you making your cheeks blush pink. You sheepishly look up at him and mumbled quietly “why are you staring at me like that?”.
“well you bought a piece for me didn’t you? why don’t you try it out for me. I’d like to judge it myself”. He gazed at you with a sultry look and jumped on you, peppering kisses all over your face while you squeal at his sudden attack. Warmth flooded your insides as you hurriedly find your set and change in the bathroom

pairing: oikawa x reader
summary: oikawa’s first christmas in argentina is around the corner and you’re happy he has more free time to spend with you. nevertheless, a couple of innocent words spilled from the setter’s lips make you start to reevaluate your friendship. was there something else between you both?
words: 1.6k
The classic American Christmas decoration of the coffee shop was a sharp contrast with the heat that was forcing you to keep a frozen water bottle against your neck. Argentina was in the middle of summer after all. You thanked the air conditioning was turned on to the max, and heavily considered to stay there for a few hours just to avoid the heat wave on the street.
You left the bottle on the table and tied up your hair, trying to find additional relief. You thanked Oikawa had the idea of buying that water bottle to lower your temperature, because now you were suffering the consequences of asking him to accompany you while you tried to learn to rollerskate. Even if you knew summer was about to begin, you didn’t expect the sun to burn that brightly today. After seeing you pant in exhaustion, he had offered to go to the nearest Starbucks and buy you something cold to drink.
A Christmas carol played in the background, only disturbed by the sound of the baristas grinding fresh coffee beans. The smell drew a small smile on your face and you let your mind wander for a minute about your friend’s Christmas celebration. It hadn’t been long since Oikawa had arrived in Argentina, and he had already told you he wasn’t coming back home for the festivities as he had training both the day before and after Christmas.
Your eyes darted to him, who was checking his phone while waiting in line. He was wearing a sleeveless t-shirt, a pair of jeans and his signature glasses he always wore outside of practice. You always loved whenever you got to see him wearing them. Oikawa always looked invincible on the court, eyes menacing and fierce when facing his opponents, but when those same brown eyes were behind those glasses, it was like you were seeing him for the very first time. And, at the same time, it felt like there was nothing else he was looking at but you.
Would he accept if you invited him over to your friends’ Christmas dinner? You pictured him sitting on the table with your friends by your side, laughing as you insisted he drank more wine with you. The idea of watching the midnight fireworks alongside him brought warmth to your heart.
You took out your phone and quickly typed a message.
“nerd”
The way his eyebrows raised and immediately furrowed made you giggle. He looked back at you and you grinned at him. He shook his head and started typing.
“bold of you to assume I won’t walk out and leave you here >:(”
Laughing, you kept the conversation going.
“but ur a cute nerd w your glasses <3”
The way his cheeks reddened made your smile grow wider. He was about to reply when the cashier called him over and he realized it was his turn. Putting his phone back in his pocket, you saw him order your drinks and take out his credit card. You had offered to pay for them both yourself, but he had insisted, saying since he had been so busy with practice lately, it was the least he could do.
Oikawa sat next to you on the sofa with a long sigh, passing a hand through his hair. You offered him the frozen water bottle but he shook his head. Determined to help him out, you pressed both your cold hands on his cheeks, making him hiss.
"Better, huh?" you smiled.
"Yes," he admitted, leaning into your touch.
"What did you order?"
"Your favourite and a strawberry lemonade for me," Oikawa answered, closing his eyes.
"My favourite?"
"Mocha frappuccino with soy milk but with whipped cream, two espresso shots and chocolate chips," he recited. If he had had his eyes open, he would have seen yours widening at the accuracy of his words. You pulled your left hand away and pressed a loud kiss on his cheek.
"You know my coffee order,” you sing-sang, happily. Oikawa rolled his eyes and poked your forehead.
"Of course I know your coffee order. It's disgusting, but--"
"Hey!"
The barista calling Oikawa's name interrupted your banter and he stood up to pick up your drinks. You watched him exchange words in his broken Spanish with the girl behind the bar. By the way she kept talking to him way after he had the drinks in his hands, you figured she had recognized him. The girl called her friend who smiled brightly when she saw him and immediately took out her phone.
You tried not to laugh when Oikawa did his usual peace sign after he agreed to a selfie with the girls. Shaking your head with a grin, you took out your phone again to check your Instagram while he had some time with his fans. Volleyball players were only known to devoted volleyball fans in Latinoamérica, so you figured those girls were fans themselves.
And even if they didn't really like volleyball, who wouldn't be a fan of a pretty boy like him?
"Thanks, but I have to go back to my girl now.”
The sound of your phone hitting the floor was muffled by the carpet, your best friend's words echoing inside your head as he made his way back. You quickly picked it up and then accepted the drink he handed to you with a small smile.
Oikawa was talking, you knew he was talking, but you couldn't comprehend a word he was saying. Your head felt dizzy, millions of thoughts and memories of your friendship since you two had met a few days after his arrival in Argentina roaming around your head. No matter how much you tried to piece them together, you couldn't find a moment where there had been any sort of indication he thought of you as his girlfriend. Was it a cultural thing? You had heard the question wasn't really asked in Europe, was it the same in Japan? Had you been in a relationship for the past four months with a star volleyball player without realizing it?
No. There had to be some sort of explanation. You hadn't even kissed before. Maybe he just said so to avoid talking with the baristas for much longer. But misleading his fans into thinking he was in a relationship could only end up in them spreading the information, which wouldn’t benefit at all if it was just a way out for him. You knew he had had girlfriends back in Japan, but you only knew so because he had told you, as he always tried to keep his dating life as private as he could.
Maybe you had heard wrong? It certainly wouldn’t be the first time. You looked over at the bar where two pairs of eyes looked back at you with curiosity. That was enough to answer your question.
“Tooru,” you interrupted him, your eyebrows slightly knit together. He raised his eyebrows and looked at you. “Are we dating?”
Oikawa put his drink back on the table, his eyebrows mimicking yours. He blinked in confusion and cocked his head slightly to the side.
“We're not?”
Your mouth fell open at his answer.
“What?”
"You didn't know?"
"When did you ask?!" you asked, your voice higher than usual.
"So you're saying you don't want to?" he inquired, raising his right eyebrow.
"I do!” you quickly assured him. “I do, I do, I just... wow," you breathed out. You put a strand of your hair behind your ear and took a sip of your drink. "I'm just… a bit surprised. I mean, I guess I--” you paused and tried to order your thoughts. You could feel Oikawa’s intense gaze on you, not making it any easier. “Tooru, I have liked you for a while,” you admitted, cheeks burning. “But-- I didn't know you felt the same way. And now you’re saying we have been dating these past few months and I’m having a hard time getting my head around it”.
As soon as the words left your mouth, you realized how wrong you worded your thoughts out.
“Wait, no, no,” you said and put your drink back on the table. You straightened your back and faced him, taking a deep breath before speaking again. “Tooru, I like you. I do, and honestly I’m all for this dating thing, it just feels…”
“Feels like what?”
“A bit anticlimactic if you ask me,” you chuckled. Before you could say anything else, you felt Oikawa’s hand behind your head, gently guiding you towards him. You closed your eyes the minute his lips touched yours. His movements were soft and tender, a lot different from what you had pictured your first kiss with Oikawa would be like. Your surroundings disappeared as the warmth of his mouth intoxicated you, the sweet aftertaste of lemon and strawberry on his lips making your head spin. You placed your hands on his chest, the realization of how long you had been wanting to do that hitting you with full strength. He grazed the tip of his tongue against your bottom lip in his characteristic teasing manner, but for once, you let him get away with it, shuddering at the contact. You felt him smile against your mouth and you couldn’t help but do the same, the grin still on your lips after he pulled away from your face, his hand on your neck keeping you close to him.
“You do look cute in your glasses,” you breathed out and he smirked at you.
“I always do,” he replied, and you rolled your eyes. Nevertheless, as soon as they met his again, you leaned in once more, planning on getting up to date with all the lost time you had refrained yourself from kissing your best friend.
Oikawa didn’t mind at all.

Yesterday’s Silence: Chapter 1
Preview below the cut (bear in mind, this is not where the fic begins):
Dean shifted his camera on his shoulder and then set off down the sidewalk. As he walked, he felt the warm summer air swirl around him and he took a deep breath, only to pause for a moment as he was overpowered by the sweet smell of flowers. His eyes searched for the source of the smell and it became apparent as he rounded the corner.
Baskets laden with flowers rocked gently in the soft afternoon breeze and Dean took a moment to gaze at them. He spotted roses, and sunflowers, but there were so many different kinds that Dean couldn’t even put a name to. He turned to look at the shop that the baskets hung outside of and saw more flowers sitting in an outdoor trough-like windowsill.
There was paint on the door that glistened in the sun as if it had been painted mere minutes ago. There was a drawing of a bee sitting on a flower and the yellow words painted beside it read: Mel Flora.
The store was clearly new, Dean had walked these streets for years and this shop had definitely not been there a week ago. He tried to remember if he’d seen it on his walk to the park, but he didn’t really pay attention on those walks, he just let himself walk blindly, trusting his feet to guide him.
He couldn’t help but look back at the baskets filled with flowers and suddenly he had an urge to photograph the soft yellow petals of the sunflower in front of him. But Dean didn’t want to be some strange guy photographing a bunch of flowers that didn’t even belong to him, so turned back to the door and once he made sure there was an Open sign hanging inside the glass, he pushed his way into the shop. A bell jingled at his entrance and filled the small quaint store with a soft note.
The store smelled strongly of flowers and Dean paused to take in the shop. There were flowers everywhere. Hanging from the ceiling in baskets like the ones outside, sitting on shelves, growing in corners, they were just… everywhere.
“Um… hello?” he called out to the seemingly empty room.
“Hello!?” came an excited, deep, voice in response.
Dean followed the sound of the voice and found himself at the cashier desk in the back of the store. A man stood behind it, dressed in a white button down shirt that was rolled up at the wrists, exposing his forearms, with a twisted blue tie that hung loosely from his neck. His hair was dark and ruffled, sticking up in some places but flat in others, and his skin looked perfectly tan. As Dean drew closer and let his eyes connect with the other man’s, he felt his footsteps falter slightly.
The full picture of the man behind the counter came into view as the blue of his eyes connected with the dark hair and the shadow of stubble lining his jaw.
Dean cleared his throat, trying to ground himself before he could say something stupid. “Uh, hi,” he said with a small smile, shifting his camera bag on his shoulder.
“Is there anything I can help you find?” the man asked with a smile,Castiel, his nametag read.
Castiel’s smile was bright and gummy and Dean felt his own smile grow. “Um, well, I’m not exactly in the market for flowers, I just…” he paused, rubbing at the back of his neck as he tried to gather his thoughts. “I uh, I have a strange request to ask.”
Castiel’s head tilted slightly to the side and his eyes furrowed into a squint. “What might that be?”
“This shop’s new, right?”
Castiel nodded slowly. “Yes, I just opened today.”
“Are you the owner?” Dean asked.
“Yes.”
“Oh, well, perfect. So, I’m a photographer and I was uh, wondering if maybe I could take some pictures of your flowers. I could send them to you and you could use them for a website or something, it might help you gain some publicity.”
Castiel frowned in consideration. “I couldn’t pay you or anything, the shop has hardly had any customers yet.”
“No, you wouldn’t have to pay me, this would be free of charge,” Dean said. “I just think your flowers are really beautiful and I want to capture their image, and I figured you could probably use the pictures.”
Castiel’s small gummy smile returned. “That’s very kind of you.”
Dean shrugged. “It’s nothing really, I’d be happy to do it.”
“In that case I’d be happy to oblige you.”
Dean smiled and gripped the strap of his bag tighter, just to have something to do with his hands. “Great, so, uh, maybe I could come by tomorrow and take some pictures. I can do the inside of the shop too if you want.”
“That sounds wonderful.”
Dean nodded and began to back away. “Awesome, I’ll come by around noon.”
Without another word, Dean retreated before he could say or do something embarrassing. It was as the bell above the door was ringing out the singular note again, that he realized he didn’t even give Castiel his name. He couldn’t bring himself to go back inside just for that, so he opted to tell him tomorrow.

Cheating Bastard and Puppy Brother (Cheater!Lucifer x Reader x Mammon) Part 5
Part 4
“Mammon, you stupid idiot!”
Asmodeus, Satan and Leviathan surrounded Mammon in the living room. The victim of a surprise smacking, Mammon rubbed the back of his head and sent a glare at the three.
“The hell is your problem?” He demanded.
“What’re you doing taking advantage of MC?” Asmodeus leaned over with narrow eyes. “She just broke up with Lucifer!”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about, I--” Before Mammon could finish, he was soon facing the news article with a picture of him and MC.
“What’s this?”
“You tell me,” Asmodeus said as he almost threw the D.D.D. at him. “This is an all-time low, even for you. I can’t believe you would do this to MC--hey! We’re not finished!”
The brothers tried to catch the fleeing Mammon but he was too fast for anyone that wasn’t Lucifer. In an instant he was banging on your door.
You opened up frenzied, wondering if there was some fire or other emergency. Mammon clamped down on your shoulders and pushed himself inside, “I swear I didn’t know!”
“Huh?”
“I was trying to help!”
“Mammon--”
“If I knew this was going to happen I would’ve been more careful, I’m sorry, MC! I’m really sorry!”
“Wait a moment, Mammon,” you sighed, holding onto his hands. He shut his mouth and took deep breaths. “Now,” you said, “explain everything carefully. From top to finish.”
He described what happened but when you opened your D.D.D. you found the article has already been blocked through orders from the student council. You chuckled, “Oh, so it’s like this.”
“You’re not … mad?”
“Of course not. If anything, I’m amused. I’ve been here for some time now but it didn’t really occur to me how similar demons are with humans when it comes to gossip.” You gave him a reassuring smile.
“Y-you’re serious?”
“Yes, so you can stop worrying now.”
Mammon was relieved, but then he saw the ashen look on your face and he quickly spun around to meet his older brother’s rigid form.
Lucifer stood outside your bedroom door still in his R.A.D. uniform, presumably having just arrived from his meeting with Diavolo. Ignoring Mammon, he called out your name as he stepped inside, but then he paused and his eyes fell over. You realized that Mammon had grabbed your hand. Embarrassed, you gently shook him off. Mammon bit his cheek in an attempt to hide his hurt.
“So it’s true …” Lucifer mumbled but it was too low for you to hear.
You wanted this over with so you cut to the chase and asked, “Did you need something, Lucifer?”
Lucifer stared at Mammon’s lonesome hand for a few seconds more before looking back at you. “We need to talk.” With his tone, the words sounded more like a command than the plea a cheater should have said. However, you were more or less used to it.
Calmly and with your eyes meeting his, you replied: “Unless it’s an emergency, which I doubt, I’m afraid I have time to spare.” Your choice of words were polite but the two demons were taken aback by the mocking way they were delivered.
Lucifers fists clenched by his sides. Mammon’s golden gaze stayed on his brother, his own limbs itching with anticipation. He couldn’t win against Lucifer but he could still protect you.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the House of Lamentation, the other five brothers waited with bated breaths.
No one expected Lucifer to actually cut his meeting with Diavolo early, way too early for them to prepare reinforcement spells to keep the house in one piece. Just remembering Lucifer’s dark face and his silence when greeted nervously by the others had them shaking inside. Moreover, Mammon was with you in your bedroom right now. If it were days ago that would’ve been fine but now …
Satan rubbed his temples. Who didn’t know about Mammon’s feelings? That was a rhetorical question. Everyone knew. Well, everyone but the one person Mammon desperately wanted to know. You were too in love with Lucifer and Mammon never did make a move when he found out. Mammon was many things but he still cared for his family, Satan begrudgingly admitted.
But now the situation has changed and their torpe brother decided to make a move at the wrong time, in the wrong place.
“Can you hear them?” Belphegor asked Levi, who had been trying to listen in on the conversation with his magic.
However, the otaku shook his head. “Either Lucifer or Mammon is blocking me.”
Beelzebub tore open a new bag of chips. He’d devoured all five boxes of Honey Buddha chips you brought from the human realm. Satan noticed that after Lucifer’s affair, your alleged breakup, and now Mammon’s “scandalous courtship,” served to increase Beel’s appetite to record-breaking levels.
On the other hand, another person was nibbling relentlessly. Satan reached for Asmo’s wrist to stop him from eating more of his proudly painted nails. Satan thrust his thumb at Beel and said to Asmo, “If you want to bite on something do it on food.”
Asmo’s normally glowing face was drained of color and he said nothing as he took a seat next to Beel.
The air around them was heavy and what’s worse was that they didn’t know what exactly they were afraid of. Brotherly quarrels were normal but with you in the picture … Satan sighed and flipped through his book of spells. They should start chanting protection spells on themselves and on the house.
After a gruelling wait, footsteps were heard and you entered the living room with Mammon behind you. There were no signs of Lucifer, or a fight. The five breathed a collective sigh of relief.
You cleared your throat. “I forgot to buy the ingredients for tonight. I’m sorry but you’ll have to wait a little longer for dinner, Beel.”
Beel almost choked. Belphegor quickly stepped in and said, “It’s fine, MC. We can order something.”
“Or eat out,” Asmo suggested.
You strained a smile. “Don’t be silly. I thought everyone’s been tight on cash this week?”
Yes, because Lucifer has become twice--no--ten thousand times the Devil after your breakup, was what each brother thought.
“I’ll go buy groceries now.” You turned on your heel before they could protest. Mammon, as always, pratted after you.
However, you stopped him as you reached the door. “I’ll be okay, Mammon.” The sentence had the underlying implication of: Don’t come with me.
“But it’s already dark out.”
“Thanks for the concern but … ” You tilted your head to face him, “I’ll be fine.”
He wanted to protest some more, but seeing the sheen of tears on your eyes, he relented and you left the house on your own.
You stuffed your hands into your coat, free to think without any distractions. But no more than two meters away from the estate, you stopped walking. You shouted upward, “I know you’re there.”
A strong, chilling wind blew past, almost knocking you off your feet. But you balanced yourself before you hit a familiar chest. You looked up at Lucifer.
His lips were a straight line but his eyes were drowning in all sorts of emotions. You sighed. You figured it would take more than a simple “no” and a biting retort to get someone like him off your tail.
“Let me talk, MC. Let me explain,” He said and you wanted to laugh, because for a long time now, all he’s ever done was tell you what to do. At first it was appealing but now his tone just grated you.
“Okay.” You stared straight at him before adding, “but I’m not doing this for you. I deserve an explanation. But first, I deserve an apology.”
“MC--”
“I deserve an apology,” you repeated firmly.
He looked at you with those clouded red eyes. You used to think that you could read him well, but now you weren’t so sure.
Well, that wasn’t entirely true, because as minutes passed in complete silence, you realized one irrefutable truth: you weren’t important. Maybe on some level you were, but not as a lover. Maybe you two would have been better off friends.
Seeing that he wasn’t going to talk, you sighed and stepped forward.
“MC, wait,” he grabbed your arm. “I … that night I … I didn’t sleep with her on my own.” When he realized that you didn’t understand he explained: “She slipped me an aphrodisiac. I didn’t do it because I wanted to.”
Your heart dropped. But for different reasons than you expected.
“Is that true?”
“Oh.” You were speechless and you truly didn’t know what to feel.
“I didn’t do it on purpose. I would never sleep with anyone who wasn’t my spouse, that’s a complete dishonor. Believe me.” His hold on you was almost painful but you had a difficult time paying attention.
“Lucifer, I … ” You choked. “I’m sorry that happened to you, I don’t know what to say.”
He exhaled, “Don’t fret, love. I’m all right.” He pulled you into his embrace. “But now that this issue has been cleared can we please make up?”
You were sorry about what happened truly but now that he was asking you to get back together, you were completely lost.
You stayed in his arms, motionless, before pulling away and meeting his gaze again. “I’m sorry, but we can’t.”
Lucifer’s entire body stiffened.
“We can’t get back together.”
“I deserve an apology.” When you spoke those words you weren’t thinking about the affair. You thought back to those lonely nights spent waiting for him only to fall asleep and wake up alone, you thought about sitting in a restaurant alone for hours on end only to go home hungry and with literal demons shooting you looks of pity. You recalled the myriad of excuses you thought of for him when he never even bothered to apologize or explain himself.
You wiped your nose and said with the softest smile, “Goodbye, Lucifer.” And with that you walked away.
Lucifer was too shocked to move.
*
You paid the cashier and carried two heavy bags worth of groceries out the store, but surprisingly you felt like skipping. Your chest felt lighter than it ever had been for the past few months. Earlier you hid inside a the store’s public toilet and cried everything out. And truthfully, shopping was a good way to distract yourself.
You were humming on the way back home when two serpents, both thick as tree bark and longer than 20 feet blocked your path. One of them, with beet-red scales slapped your bags away.
You wanted to cry out at the injustice. I splurged on those ice creams!
to be continued ...
Author’s note: Lucifer was raped but I didn’t focus too much on the implications of the assault, now that’s not to say that I think female-on-male rape is not serious, however, do remember the setting and the characters themselves. Canonically, it’s been implied that Mammon has been forced to serve witches in unsavory ways but it’s never given much depth and it’s almost played for laughs, but again remember: this is fiction and the characters are demons. Whatever the gender of the victim and/or attacker, rape is never okay. Please don’t think that because I didn’t delve in Lamia’s scheme that I take rape lightly.

Lights, Camera, Action
Part seven
(Part six)
Summary: You’re a production assistant on the set of Cursed. The night before your first day at work, you opened your laptop to shockingly realise you’d be working with Daniel Sharman (and a plethora of other amazing actors), someone you’d been watching on screen since you were a teenager. You kept your expectations low, the PAs rarely got to interact with the talent…what was your chance?

Notes: So sorry if this chapter is also a bit all over the place! I’ve been very distracted with school and it’s been a bit harder to find the time to write. All that said, here’s chapter seven and I hope you guys enjoy it!! Sorry again in advance for the lack of Daniel content, but I promisee that the next will have a lot more to make up for it. Thanks for reading!

“We’re good then?” he said, tucking a strand of hair behind his ear.
“Ofcourse….yeah….we were always good” you mumbled.
He smiled at you before turning around and walking away.
What had just happened? You didn’t know if this day was the best you had ever had or the worst.
It was probably both.
As you pulled off your headset, your heartbeat thudded in your ears. Too many thoughts rushed through your mind, some good some bad. Why was he apologising to you? Did he really think he was at fault? And had he actually heard the part where Cassandra mentions you getting nervous around him? Had he noticed your uneasy behaviour? Or was he going to start noticing?
You thought you’d hid it oh so well…that no one could tell you had a weird crush on Daniel. Was it even a crush? Or was it feelings? You barely knew him, you’d have to get over it sooner or later…or atleast you hoped you would.
One part of you wished you could be like Siara. She didn’t give a shit if they were actors. She saw them as regular human beings and nothing more. She didn’t get nervous or starstruck. From what you’d seen, those were the type of people actors felt comfortable around to like and be friends with. Not anxious fangirls like you.
You shook your head, shivering. Why did it have to be so cold?
6:06 pm
You walked into your apartment, which was not much warmer than the outside. You took off your sweater and put on a thicker one, also grabbing a warm blanket and settling on your couch. The second you turned on your tv, you saw that Netflix was recommending Medici to you. You had seen from Daniels instagram that he was starring in the second season. Maybe this was a sign that it was time to watch the first. You clicked play and leaned back into your couch, letting the show whisk you away from your own troubles.
Tuesday, January 15th, 2019
3:32 am
You jerked awake when your phone vibrated on your thigh. You were shocked when you looked down at your watch to see it was half past three. You had only gotten through one episode of Medici before falling asleep from your exhaustion. You contemplated falling asleep again but decided against it, you were starving and hadn’t had anything to eat since 12:30.
You felt oddly refreshed, and felt like going out to get something to eat. You usually weren’t the spontaneous type, especially not at 3 am…but for some reason, your body craved fast food and also the cold night air. You though it out in your head and decided that you could get drive thru and eat it in your car, and by the time you were done, it would be time for work anyways.
You got up and got ready. Freshening up and putting on your “work clothes”. You hadn’t slept for eight hours straight in a while and so didn’t even feel the need to drink your usual cup of morning coffee.
You grabbed your jacket and headed out, your keys jingling as you locked your apartment door.
The night breeze was just as you imagined. The cold crisp air felt oddly refreshing against your face, and you could almost taste the coldness when you inhaled. You had kept your car window down, weirdly craving the chillness.
After a few minutes though, you found yourself shivering and rolled up your car window, licking your lips to warm them. You thought over where to get breakfast (or dinner?), and decided that McDonalds was your best bet. You knew they’d be open and also exactly what to get.
It took you five minutes to get to your local McDonalds. You pulled into the drive thru window and ordered a McChicken, a large fries, a coke, and an Oreo mcflurry. You usually never ate a big breakfast, especially before work, but you were starving and felt like you could eat their whole menu. Actually, you were holding back.
You got the food, breathing deeply when the hot smell of salty fries wafted towards your nose. There was a 7/11 a few shops down so you went and parked in front of it. From you seat, you could clearly see the door of the 7/11, and also the inside through the windows. It was one of the few places open at this time and you loved people watching. Especially people at a store at 4 am in the morning.
You pulled out your food and took a bite, your jaw aching with pleasure. When you took a sip of the coke, you could feel the cool liquid travel down your throat and through your chest. You looked up and saw that there was a cashier inside the 7/11, a teenage boy. He was sitting on a chair, his eyes droopy.
You tore your eyes from him when you heard a car pull into a parking spot a few spaces away from you. Your eyes widened in confusion when you saw Bradley step out. You knew your next actions were stupid and immature but you still went ahead.
You quickly (but carefully) put your food down on the seat next to you, and with unnatural swiftness, pushed/jumped yourself onto the back seat, lying flat on your back so he wouldn’t see you. You hoped he hadn’t seen the car move, but you don’t think he did since a second later you saw him walk into the 7/11, unbothered. You took a deep breath looking at your watch, it was 4:12 am. Huey had texted you saying that the crew and actors both would have an early start today. You would have to be at the studio by 5:00, which was 10 minutes from the store.
The position you were in wasn’t uncomfortable, but it was definitely getting slightly hard to breath. What the fuck were you doing? You should just get up and continue eating, he probably wouldn’t see you anyways.
Before you could, you saw him coming out and froze, holding your breath. You saw him look into your car but not at you, just at the empty front seats. There was a small box in his hand but you couldn’t tell what it was. You waited for his car to pull out but after waiting for almost thirty seconds, you got increasingly confused. Suddenly the car started shaking rhythmically and your eyes widened when you realised what he was doing.
He was busy now so you quickly got up and climbed into the front seat.
Seriously? He was really having sex in a car an hour before work? It was odd but you weren’t one to judge. You actually envied his spontaneity.
You started your car and drove away.
4:50 am
You opened the door of your car and got out, locking it behind you. You felt sick from all the food you ate, especially since it was right after you woke up. After you had driven away from the 7/11, you had decided to just eat in the studio’s parking lot and wait until it was time for work. Now.
You walked towards the building, rubbing your hands up and down your arms, your keys jingling in between your fingers. It was freezing this early in the morning.
When you walked into the studio, you were surprised to see all of the PAs except Bradley and Jay standing in a group together, talking to Huey. You walked over and greeted them, standing next to Siara. Huey was looking through the papers and you took the opportunity to ask her what exactly was happening.
“What’re you guys talking about?” you whispered.
She turned to you, also speaking quietly, “Something about how we might have to travel somewhere”
“Us?” you said surprised.
She nodded. You swallowed, trying to lessen your excitement. They would probably want the more experienced PAs anyways.
Huey cleared his throat and you turned to look at him.
“Alright. Please listen carefully since I’m not going to repeat this”
Everyone nodded and he continued, “To make a long story short, we’re going to be moving filming to England in two weeks and we want all of you to come with us. It’s fine if you’re unable to, but it would be extremely convenient for the production if our crew were mostly the same”
He paused and you took a glance at Siara. Her expression was blank. You sighed looking away and at Huey, who was now speaking again.
“All expenses, plane tickets and accommodation are payed for. Along with lunch, breakfast is also included. We’ll be in England for nine months with a two week break every three months”
Distraught spread through you as you realised you would have to be in England for nine fucking months…only if you accepted.
You nodded as Huey handed a folder to each of you, “This has all of the information you’ll need…if you decide to come, sign this and give it to me before the end of this week”. He walked away, leaving you all to discuss what you were to do.
Louis spoke up first, smiling widely, “Please tell me you guys are coming, you have to come”, he sounded like an excited child.
You beamed, “I really want to…but, it’s more than half a year”, you saw a sad expression spread over his face.
“I’m going…I’ve always wanted to visit Europe” you heard Siara say.
“Come on Y/N” Louis said looking at you.
“I’ll decide when I go home and let you both know” you said smiling. You wanted to go so bad, but the thought of nine months away from home terrified you. Even if you could visit.
10:48 pm
You had just gotten out of the shower and settled into your bed after drying off. Your work day had been exciting of course, but definitely not as eventful as yesterday. You hadn’t interacted with Daniel except your usual “hey”. You had talked to Jasmine about the change in shooting and she had told you that her and Cassandra were definitely going. Although you hated Cassandra, Jasmine was one of your closest friends on set and that made the decision much easier.
You pulled out your phone and opened your’s and Louis’ chat.
Y/N Hey, good news! I’ve decided I’m gonna come. I’m gonna miss Talia, but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I don’t wanna miss out at all!! I'm so excited [10:29 pm]
Louis What?? That’s great! I honest don’t know what I would’ve done without you [10:32 pm]
Y/N Hahaha We’ll def talk more about it at work tomorrow, I think I should really sleep now lmao [10:33 pm]
Louis Of course of course. Same here...gn! [10:33 pm]
Y/N Gn :) [10:34 pm]
You smiled to yourself before texting Siara as well. She usually took longer to reply so you decided not to wait and turned your phone off.
You were equally nervous, scared, and excited for the trip. You’d get to travel? To another continent? Over a whole ocean? For nine fucking months? And almost for free? You honestly couldn’t believe it. The nine months still scared you but you tried to focus on other things instead. Like the beautiful sights you’d get to see in your time off…and also the places you’d get to shoot scenes. Daniel obviously as well. You wondered for a while if he was happy to go to England too. It was his childhood home.

5:05 pm
You licked your lips to warm them as you entered Daniel’s trailer and took a deep breath as the warmth inside enveloped you.
It had been two weeks of helping Cassandra and Jasmine and you had finally gotten the hang of it. So far, your first day had still definitely been the most eventful, with you cutting your finger and then Cassandra getting angry at you. The rest of the days had been much better in some ways. You were still very giddy around Daniel, but you had learned how to hide it.
It was also much easier since you were more confident in what you were doing. You had actual jobs, like removing his make up and getting his skin ready…things which Jasmine used to do before you. Now that you did it, it gave Cassandra and Jasmine both more time to focus on his actual make up and hair. Cassandra wasn’t much better. She hadn’t blown up on you again like she had that day, but there was a significant increase in scowls, eyebrow raises, and dissaproving looks in general. If looks could kill, you’d be dead ten times over.
“Hi Y/N” Jasmine said, as you closed the door behind you. You looked around and saw that Cassandra was absent. Thank God.
“Hey” you replied, grinning. You glanced towards Daniel, who offered you a short smile.
You got to work, pulling out a make up wipe and rubbing down his face gently. You had learned that leaving the tears for last was best. That way you could use a separate, stronger wipe on them too.
Although you had done this about ten times now, it always made your flutter to be so near him. It was also odd how accustomed you had gotten with his skin. You noticed whenever he had a new scratch, or a pimple, a tan…any small changes.
For some reason, it made you feel special to be this close to him. It almost didn’t make sense to your brain, how close you were to him everyday, yet how little you actually interacted with and knew about him.
Today you were too busy looking at his eyelashes and didn’t realise you had run your wipe directly over a small cut on his jaw. He hissed slightly, opening his eyes. Jasmine cocked her head towards you both from where she was looking through a make up drawer.
Your mouth hung open in shock as you snatched your hand away from his face. Your eyes fell to where his cut was, and you swallowed. Why did you have to be so distracted and clumsy?
“Oh no, I’m so sorry” you said nervously and rushed over to the sink, wetting the corner of a small towel.
You jogged back over to his chair, being extra gentle as you dabbed the damp corner on the cut, trying to wipe the make up wipe’s liquid away. You then dried it with the dry part of the towel.
“It’s fine really Y/N” he said laughing slightly, “It happened during filming”
Your skipped a beat when you heard him say your name. It was still surreal to you that Daniel Sharman knew you….let alone you name. You smiled slightly before setting the towel down on the counter.
“Is it still stinging?” you said gesturing to his jaw, your hands shaking.
“Oh no, not at all” he said shaking his head. You felt that he wasn’t telling the truth but you let it go. Grabbing the make up wipe, you continued wiping his make up off. It was a much smoother process, and you took the time to ease your racing heart rate.
The flight was tomorrow and you couldn’t help but feel excited every time you thought about it. Louis had informed you that Jay and Bradley had opted out of coming on the trip. You were sad about Jay’s decision, but not so much Bradley’s.
You were happy but also terrified that your work was taking you out of comfort zone. Jasmine had texted you yesterday saying that she’d pick you up so you could both go to the airport together, which made the whole ordeal a whole less nerve wracking.
You had gotten quite used to this trailer, to the studio…..and you hoped that your routine and jobs (that you had finally gotten somewhat good at), wouldn’t change the minute you got to England.
Saturday, January 26th, 2019
2:58 am
You jerked awake and checked your phone, afraid you’d overslept. Nope, there was still a whole two minutes left until your alarm. The flight was at 7:00 am and you had told Jasmine that you wanted to get there atlaeast two and a half hours before. You rather be early and wait in the airport for an hour than be late and miss the flight.
You had thankfully packed everything the night before and it only took you almost forty minutes to get yourself and your bags ready. Just a few minutes after you were done, you phone rang. It was Jasmine.
“Hey, you’re here?” you said, smiling and wheeling your suitcases closer to your apartment’s door. You phone wedged between your cheek and shoulder.
“Yes!” she said sounding excited. You were eager to go too, but you had only slept four hours and were finding it hard to get to her level of excitement.
“Great..I’ll be right down”
It was a struggle, but you managed to get both your suitcases into the elevator and onto the curb outside your apartment building where Jasmine was waiting. The cold night air hit you like a brick, and you felt energy surge through you.
Jasmine got out of her car quickly, “Oh let me help you with those”
You both loaded your suitcases into the trunk of her car. Y
You rubbed you hands together warming them, as you got into the car, you backpack at your feet. Jasmine started the car, beaming.
“You excited?” she said, driving.
“Very” you laughed, turning the heater up. You were tired, but the adrenaline from your excitement kept you wide awake.
4:56 am
It took you guys almost twenty minutes to get the airport, which wasn’t bad. You were now walking through the airport, your luggage hopefully making it’s way onto your plane. You had made it through security smoothly, and there had been no problems with your boarding pass or passport. If there had, Cassandra would’ve probably killed you both.
“What’s the gate number?” you asked Jasmine, who was holding the boarding passes.
“Uhh” she looked at them, “32B”
You nodded, just a little farther. The smell of coffee and food from the various little cafes made your stomach grumble.
You thought your adrenaline would’ve died down by now but it hadn’t. You tried to keep telling yourself that it was because you were travelling to Europe…but inside, you knew the real reason you were so excited.

Smoke, Flasks, and Unfinished Tasks: Chapter 4
AO3 Link!
Chapter 1 Link!
Chapter 2 Link!
Chapter 3 Link!
Summary: No one is happy with Wukong’s suggestions, not even Wukong himself. But they only have so many options and depending on what they learn from certain demons they have fewer options going forward.
Warnings: Discussion of past canon violence in Journey To The West
Chapter 4: Oh I can back them up and than some, show me what you got
"Have you lost your fucking MIND!?” Pigsy snapped, getting up and grabbing the tails of Wukong’s cape to drag him down to eye height. “DBK? The Demon Bull King? You want us to team up with HIM!? You buried him under a mountain for centuries, what makes you think he’d agree to that!?”
“Red Son.”
Pigsy froze for a moment, grimacing as he began taking the time to think this response over. The Demon Bull family had a... difficult relationship with Red Son, one that was undeniably unhealthy (and now that he had seen how much Red had mellowed out and blossomed since defecting to their side it was one the pig was glad he was out of). But the two demons were clearly protective of him in their own twistedly weird way.
He remembered how much they fought during their attempts to gain Princess Iron Fan's fan, fueled by anger at Wukong defeating their son and sending him off as Guanyin's disciple. MK had told him how PIF herself had defended Red from DBK when he was possessed by the White Bone Spirit, Red explaining that they had never stood for anyone physically hurting him outside of a proper battle when the topic eventually came up again, so there was some level of... care there somewhere. Bizarre and messed up care. Even if he didn't think it was anywhere near enough to make up for whatever had happened to undo Guanyin's teachings, it was something...
Something that they could use to their advantage to get them on their side temporarily.
"I hate it to admit it," Pigsy conceded with a gruff sigh as he let go of the monkey's cape tassels. "But you might be right. If they know he's missing they'll come runnin to look for him, and I’d rather them learn from us and work with us than fight against them if they find out themselves.”
He looked back at his phone, setting up the map on his phone to the nearest docks. “I don't like it, and if we DO ask for their help there ain't no way we're letting them get close to being alone with Red! I really don’t like that we even have to consider it, but if that’s what it takes I’ll do it.”
To say everyone looked surprised by his quick concession was an understatement, even Wukong himself raised an eyebrow at the shorter man. But no one knew what to really say to argue against it.
“So...” Wukong finally said as he stood with a smirk, dried and looking as regal as he ever did. “What’s the official plan, brother?”
“Sandy, head straight for the docks,” Pigsy said with a smirk back, pointing to each of them in turn. “You’re gonna talk to the dock masters and get all the info you can out of them. Tang, you and I are going together and I want you to call all the food stalls and shops in the area to see if they’re still open and if anyone is still workin who remembers seeing them. If anyone finds something we call the other and keep them updated.”
He turned to Wukong, eyes blazing in that same determination he had during their old journey. “First off, get an umbrella from my lost and found so you don’t drench yourself again. Then I want you to head to the weather station. Human disguise, no disguise, I don’t care how much you gotta show off just get them to stop the storm. You’re the only one of us with a lawyer on speed-dial, get them to bail you out if you gotta.”
Had it been 500 years ago Wukong probably would have teased the pig demon for taking charge like this. But now, all Pigsy could see in his face was the same determination he felt and some odd aura of pride coming from him. “Whatever it takes.”
“Whatever it takes.”
----------
The plan was working surprisingly well, all things considered. Over the course of the last hour Sandy had managed to find his boat (it had indeed been confiscated for illegally parking and the dock-master was more than willing to let it slide with a warning) so they knew where they were supposed to go. Wukong himself had made quick work of the weather station, apparently just showing up as The Monkey King was enough to get the station head to approve a change of weather for the rest of the day (once the poor guy on duty managed to get him to look at the screen to prove he was really there). At the very least Wukong’s lawyer would have a much easier week.
Because of this, Wukong (now in human disguise again) and Sandy were able to meet back up with Pigsy and Tang, the later after taking the most obvious route to get to the food stalls the trio was last seen at. If he had found any evidence of them taking that route it would have made everything so much easier, but he hadn’t even found a scrap of cloth. But progress was progress.
“And you’re sure you never saw them?”
“Sorry, man, I’ve been here all day and I’d remember seein the guy who brings my lunch twice a week and saves the city twice as much,” the cashier said with an apologetic shrug. “Wish I could help ya more... when ya see the guy, tell him I’ll hold his game for him, it’s the least I could do.”
“I will, and you’ve helped us a lot more than you think,” Tang said, turning to leave the shop. “Thank you for your time!” He rushed out, grouping back up with the other three adults (and one cat).
“OK, apparently MK was supposed to pick up another game from this used game store before heading to training and they never came to pick it up!” He announced, accepting the offered coffee from Sandy and taking a gulp of it and wincing at the bitterness. But he needed the fuel. “Oh, that is disgusting... But back to the search, we know a rough area where they had to disappear from now!”
“Hmn...” Wukong wasn’t looking at Tang, instead watching the high space between two buildings to the side of them. “And I bet a certain someone we talked about earlier knows about that area too...”
The rest of the group looked down the alley and finally put two and two together about where exactly they were and realized it lead into the part of the shopping district where Pigsy always went to get fresh ingredients. The exact same part where a certain eight legged demon happened to make her home underground. When they followed Wukong’s gaze upward they could see the tiny spiderweb that had caught his attention.
“Oh God damn it,” Tang groaned.
----------
No one was happy about this, least of all Pigsy and Tang. But small bits of luck, they weren’t entering the lair of the Spider Queen by falling down a scary nightmare hole this time. Instead they drove to that nearest dock for Sandy to take the confiscated boat so the three non-flying men could enter from the escape route they had made the last time they had been down there (with some assistance getting through the still broken sewer drain). Once they were under the still wide open hole Wukong had flown them all up on his cloud one by one.
And it was still as musty and spider webby as it had been before. They knew it was pointless to try sneaking around, instead just keeping their guard up as they made their way toward the main lair.
“Maybe she’s out,” Sandy offered when they saw no sign of her, scratching his head.
“Or maybe she’s been watching you the whole time~.” The three non-monkey team members jumped at the voice of the Spider Queen, moving closer to Sun Wukong as she slowly descended from the ceiling. “Monkey King! To what do I own the prestigious displeasure of seeing you again?” Her voice held the same playful tone as before, but there was an edge of tenseness and anger under it. “I certainly hope you haven’t harmed any more of my family on your way in, ape.”
From their vantage point his teammates could see Wukong’s fur bristle in annoyance at the slight. “I think you of all people would know not to call me that.”
“Ah, yes, I remember our last meeting,” The Spider Queen bit back as she made herself comfortable on the other side of the room, as comfortable as she could get in a stance clearly ready to run off at any moment. “The one where you squashed all of my sisters alive and I barely managed to escape. My apologies. It’s good to know you haven’t forgotten about me entirely.”
“If you play nice I can promise this meeting will have much fewer spider guts decorating your walls,” Wukong hissed out, crossing his arms as he took a step forward. “It will be much shorter too. We just want some information.”
The Spider Queen hissed right back, crawling back a foot up the wall. “I’m not stupid enough to want to fight you again, not now. Go on, ask so we can get this little reunion over and done with.”
Tang watched as the spiders that surrounded them all seemed to move back in tandem with their queen, following suit for their own safety most likely. She was much more subdued this time around, and there was no playful tone in her voice anymore. Something told him the stories he pictured, where Monkey King squashed the six other spider sisters in tiny spider forms, were much less accurate than he originally imagined. He shuddered at the thought.
“Did you have any spiders out near the shopping district before the storm today?”
Raising an eyebrow, the Spider Queen waved her hand and called over a small handful of her normal sized spider minions. She held them up to her ear, listening to them without taking her gaze off the Monkey King. “Ah I see... so the little Monkie Kid and his friends are missing.” She allowed herself a smirk for half a second before frowning again. “Didn’t know going missing was contagious.”
“What does that mean?” Tang asked without thinking, flinching back when her gaze fell on him for a moment.
“That little trio isn’t the first group my spiders have overheard people looking for,” The Spider Queen elaborated, gently putting the spiders on her nearest web. “And unfortunately for me, that means it’s probably good you came here. Fantastic.” She crawled down off the wall, moving sideways and over to little cauldron pot thing she had planned on stewing Pigsy and Tang in, picking up... a business card? “Catch.”
She tossed the card to Wukong who caught it effortlessly, looking a the slightly haphazardly drawn but surprisingly professionally printed card with surprise. “’Jin and Yin, Gold and Silver Demon Tech Services. For whatever anti-Monkie Kid and non-anti-Monkie Kid tech you may need...’? Those two are still around?”
“And they owe me a replacement for something of theirs your Kid broke the last time he was here, probably would have gotten it sooner if I had noticed faster,” she scoffed, shaking her head. “They were supposed to meet me here a week ago and they’ve vanished to who knows where. No one who has any orders from them can find them. It’s like they were sucked into one of their calabashes.”
“Their WHAT?” Wukong snapped, his voice echoing in the cave and making his companions flinch at the volume.
“Did... did that Kid not tell you?” The Spider Queen asked in genuine surprise. “Those two wouldn’t shut up about it after it happened, they’ve been making calabashes with some kind of VR tech and somehow managed to catch the Monkie Kid on their own! It didn’t work for long, obviously, but the fact they had him went to their heads for like a month. Pretty obnoxious, actually.”
There was a growl heard from the back of Wukong’s throat. “Well... this isn’t exactly what I expected to hear from you.”
The Spider Queen hummed, looking thoughtful for a moment. “You know, I have no love lost for your kids or those two and quite frankly I don’t care what happens to them.” She smirked a bit at Pigsy’s snapped “HEY!” before frowning again. “But them going missing together? That just feels like an even worse storm is coming down and I don’t like the feeling of how that bodes for me. Maybe nothing will come of it. Maybe it’ll help me. But I don’t want to take that chance.”
Suddenly she jumped backward, situating herself on a large web far out of their reach high in her cave. “Your kids vanished after they got to the food market. They went into a tea shop and never came out. That’s all my babies saw. Now take your leave.”
----------
“Yin, this is a terrible idea!”
“Well we can’t exactly get out of ‘ere while she’s gone, now can we?” Yin snapped, bandaging a small cut on his elder brother’s head from when he hit the floor. “Do you have a better idea?”
The Gold Horned Demon sighed, shaking his head once the bandage was on. “No... no I don’t. I should though, I’m the one that got us into this bloody mess.”
“And now you can be the one to get us out of it. Hopefully.” Yin bit his lip, listening carefully as he picked something up. “Right, she’ll think you’re still in here restin’ after she hit you with too much of that smoke stuff. I’ll cover you as long as I can. Ready?”
“Ready.”
“Is your name Jin?”

BAILEY X CHUB!FEM! READER (Biker Goddess)
You've spent most of your day outside your university, trying to write an essay on the best experience you've ever had. You gently tap the end of the eraser on your bottom lip as you think of what that could possibly be. Sure, you've been to weddings and family reunions but nothing really struck out to you as 'the best'. Sighing as you pack up for the day, you look over to the sign of your university; "Rosenburg, home of the arts". "If being an artist means back to back pain and artblock then sure, I'm home alright." You mutter to yourself. Maybe a nice calming cup of decaf from the local coffee shop will give you some inspiration. You check your phone as you walk onto the sidewalk, 7:40 pm, if you wanted coffee then you'd best hurry. Placing your phone in your hoodies pocket, you start your walk down town.
You weren't really paying attention to your surroundings, more or less spacing out as the sunset casts a large shadow besides yourself. There's a song stuck in your head, you hum along to it, blissfully disconnecting from the world around yourself. By the time you arrive at your favorite coffee shop, you barely get to sneak by the last customer and order yourself a cup. The cashier gives you a lackadaisical stare past their boxy glasses before going to make you your drink. "Thank you- and- sorry." You say, waving a hand as you stand by the pick up area to wait for it. The song playing on some hidden radio lulls you to glance around the room, your eyes land on a corkboard with some pictures on it. One of them being a group of girls. You take a closer look and the words 'Cherry Bombs' is written on it. A friend group of some sort? They look very happy, the one in the middle catches your attention. She's taller than the others and has a gleaming smile on her face. Stunning. "Ma'am-." The cashier's voice grabs your attention, "-your drink is ready."
"Yes! Thank you. I'll get out of your hair now." You say in a soft tone, gently grabbing the cup out of their hands. There was a moment of silence as you grabbed and pocketed a few sugar packets and a stirrer "Uh ma'am-! I don't think it's safe to go out alone..." the now nervous looking cashier calls out to you, earning a raised brow from you. "Huh? Why, is something wrong?" They shift around a bit, tapping their fingers on the counter, "Well, it's rumored that young women are being targeted by a group of guys.... Call themselves the 'Lady Killers'. S'like something right out of a cheesy 90's horror film but I wouldn't risk it." They look pretty serious about that. You weigh your options before shrugging a bit, "I'll be okay, I mean, no one's really out here LOOKING for a chubby girl like me to try 'n snatch, haha." You joke as you push past the front doors and onto the dimly lit sidewalk. You check your phone, it's 9:30 now.
It's about an hour or so walk back to your campus at the university, and you weren't about to let some rumors deter you from finally getting home and putting the essay paper off for later. You've traveled a few blocks down with no issue at all, though, you're extra cautious about the shadows that catches your peripheral. You deicide to calm your nerves by looking at the pictures you took on your phone of a lovely small pompom dog you saw on a trip with family somewhere. It started to work... For awhile. But it only took a moment before you could hear it, a distant sound of a car in the distance. It was getting closer. You slowly move the coffee away from your lips as you look towards the noise. Suddenly, your body ran cold as it started to head toward you. You run off, trying to make some distance between you and this jackass trying to run you over.
You dip into an alleyway, hoping it was a shortcut to a nicely lit neighborhood, praying that someone there could help you. You can hear the sound of car wheels skirting to a halt behind you. You shake your head, it's better not to look back. You run into something, something hard. A wall. Your blood runs cold as you stumble backwards to catch yourself. No... No! You have so much you haven't done yet in life! You can't possibly be the victim to something as stupid sounding as the 'Lady Killers'!. You haven't even finished that stupid essay yet! The car door shuts as heavy footsteps come closer to you, the sounds of muffled chuckles could be heard as you slowly turn to see three men. One of them was quiet tall and lanky with purple straight hair. The other was shorter but bulkier, a spiked mohawk on his. And lastly, a guy around the height of a shack, he was beefier than the other two and had a bald head. How classic. Were you really dealing with some reject TMNT villains right now?
"Hey, don'cha know little piglets like you gotta get home before the farmer comes in?" The purple haired one said, a crooked smirk on his face as he stepped closer. Slowly reaching for your hoodie pocket, hoping maybe you could 'accidentally' dial 911. "Hey! Does the little piggy speak? You look like you got sum nice bacon, hm?" The man spoke again, he was a foot away from you now. He smelled like cigarette smoke and old fruit. Mind racing, thinking of something you could say to get them to back off, your heart was the only thing you could hear now. As he closed the distance between you, you start thinking about how boring your life was, and how much you felt horrible for letting it be that way. You clenched your hands into a fists, stopping once you felt the hot cup still in your hands. You get a spark of confidence. "Well- How would you like some hot beans to the face!" You open the lid and chuck the cup at his head. It lands, the hot bean juice leaving him red where it had landed. He yells, waddling back a bit as he tried to wipe away the hotness from his face. His two lackies chuckle a bit, stopping when their boss shoots them a dirty glare. "You're gonna regret that." He growled, stomping his way back to you. But before he could even lay a hand on you, the roaring sound of motorcycles came into earshot. The three looked at each other then to the entrance of the alleyway. You lifted up your gaze, the blaring lights of the motorcycles blinded you as you tried to make out your saviors. Well... You hoped that's who they were.
"Hey Lady Killers!" A raspy and excitable voice said, "I suggest you leave that poor chick alone, or else!" the one closest to you scoffed and walked over to the voice. "Oh yeah? And whaddya gonna do! You're just some flashy bimbo onna bike!" You slowly pull yourself away from the wall to get a better look. The bike turned off and from it stood a giant, curly haired, goddess of a woman. She took off her helmet and you could've sworn your heart skipped three beats.
She had baby blue eyes, sharp features, a scar over the eye that wasn't hidden by her hair, and a smirk on her face. Raising and pointing to the three men, she spoke, "You're gonna regret fucking around with the Cherry Bombs, boys!" the next few minutes were like a movie, you couldn't look away, you were too enraptured by the golden goddess and her gang of 6 other girls beating the men to a pulp. Before long, the woman was throwing the head honcho back into his car with a slam, the other guys scurrying in after, beaten and missing a few teeth. They made a speedy escape into the cold night, honking their car horn as they did. You blinked, taking a moment to process things.
"Hey, babes, you aight?" The woman spoke again, she was walking towards you, as she did you started to notice just how big she was. Maybe 6- no- 7 feet tall, exposed arms covered in muscles and an eyefull of... Chest. Needless to say, you were at a loss for words. Your face became hot as you looked up at hers. She had a gentle expression on, offering a hand to you. You looked down at it, ignoring the little bit of blood from the Lady Killers that was sprawled onto her fingertips and knuckles. You held it, surprisingly soft, you noted. She walked you out of the alleyway, the other members were speaking amoungst themselves, they were all stunning as well. Damn- how'd you get so lucky to fall into the hands of gods most powerful and prettiest women?
"Where you live? Me and the girls will ensure you get back there safely" The mysterious woman asked, still holding onto your trembling hand. "Ah- oh! I uh- I live on campus at the.... University not too far from here. I'm uh... Writing major." You stammered, nice going you. She nodded, a toothy grin on her face. You two walked over to her motorcycle, letting go of your hand to pick up something, a helmet. She placed it carefully onto your head before putting on her own, "Just tell me the address and I'll get you there, trust me." you didn't have to be told twice. You trust with woman with your whole life, your future, hell even with your KIDS. You gave a gentle nod, earning you her toothy show stopping grin. She mounted her bike and rounded up her girls before patting the seat behind herself, "Hop on!"
The drive was a lot shorter than you were hoping, you wanted to have your arms wrapped around the goddess before you forever, but alas, you were home now. Your roomate, who was standing outside of the campus, came running over and nearly fainted when she saw that you were safe and sound. You got off the bike and returned the helmet, giving the driver one last longing look before rushing over to stable your fainting friend. "You had me scared! You weren't answering my texts all day and now you come home with a bunch of mysterious bike ladies!?" You try to calm her down and explain that there was a bit of a holdup with... Everything. You took a moment to realize that the trip for coffee was kind of a lost cause, considering you only took a few sips.
After she calmed down, your friend walked back into your shared room, leaving you some alone time with the gang. You turned and looked back at the female equivalent of Hercules before you. She still had a smile on her face as she watched you get closer. "You uh-... You never told me your name." You said shyly, trying not to mess around with your fingers as you avoided staring right at her tattoo. "Oh- I knew I forgot something! Hehe. I always do this." Sliding off her bike and closer to you, she handed you a little note before saying, "Bailey, I'm Bailey Faxton." you slowly took the note and unfolded it. On it was a scrawled out string of numbers... Her phone number! You look back up to say something but she's already mounted her bike and placed her helmet on.
"Call me when you're in need of a hero, okay babe?" Her words danced on your ears as she and her gang, The Cherry Bombs, rolled out of your campus and into the dark. The cool 10 PM night air swam its way through your hoodie, shaking you out of your thoughts. You turned to walk up to the campus, making it halfway up the stairs before stopping to look back at the road again.
"...I think I know what that essay is going to be about."

All aboard the Aizawa-train!: @yukiimanic @leeeah-loooser
A few days have passed and you were now fully settled in your dorm. There wasn’t much to it but Aizawa managed to persuade you to buy new sheets and curtains to match. You weren’t exactly sure why but you complied nonetheless.
Monochromatic that’s how you liked things. Since he gave you full control as to what colors you could choose, you simply went for black.Of course, you made sure that a pop of color would add life to your room. A few trinkets here and there, your room looked good to go. Simplicity is key, that’s what you kept reminding yourself.
But it was rather ironic how your “love life” wasn’t as simple. It was much easier to see him back in your house. Now that you were living only a mere block away from the teacher’s dorm, it only made things much harder. Though, you understood, it was still frustrating not being able to see him as much as you wanted.
While doing your assignments, your phone rang. Not bothering to see who the caller was, you picked it up. Slowly, the corners of your mouth turned upwards. Right on schedule.
“Not disturbing anything, am I?” He asked. In the background, you could hear the keyboard’s soft tapping.
“Nope. I’m just about finished here.” Gathering your books and papers, you neatly stacked and put them away. Looking at the time, there was still 45 minutes before curfew starts. “I am hungry though, so I might have to run to the nearest convenient store~”
“Isn’t the fridge stacked with snacks, though?” The typing sounds had stopped and you heard a soft grunt.
“It is but they don’t have those juice packs I like.” There was some risk to this but you wanted to see him. It was hard enough that all you could do inside the classroom was to sit and stare at him. “Of course, I’m not implying anything. I do plan on leaving in about 5 minutes or so.”
“Do as you please, (Y/N).” He let out a soft chuckle before hanging up the call.
Grabbing your sweatshirt and wallet, you silently exited your room. Thankfully, the majority of rooms had their lights on. And, technically, it wasn’t curfew so you could still manage to buy a few snacks the dorm’s fridge had to offer. Shaking your head, you knew you couldn’t fool yourself.
Ever since the kiss, he became even more intoxicating. His musky scent and how you felt his arms wrapping around your small stature (compared to his at least) was addicting. It was a picture hard to forget, him straddling you in the comforts of your bed. The strands of his soft hair caging you from the outside world. Or maybe it was how his hot breath brushed your cheeks that made things even more irresistible? Closing the doors to the building, you were met with the row of streetlights. Each of them casting enough light to ensure safety to those who would walk the streets at this time of night. Of course, everyone knew this area was safe, afterall, only an idiot villain would dare attack near UA.
A little further and you could see the neon sign of the convenience store. Near the entrance, a man caught your eye. He was wearing an all black ensemble and his grayish pale skin made him look unreal. Yet, the all too familiar bun caused your heart to race.
Upon seeing your figure approaching his, he could feel the smirk forming on his mouth. It had only been a few hours since he last saw you but it was inside classroom settings. The secret glances you two would give each other was fun but he somehow wanted more. When you passed by him, he could make out the faint smell of your lingering body lotion. Very stimulating to the senses.
Trailing behind you, his eyes began to linger all over your back. Sure, you had a sweatshirt on but in his eyes you looked too good not to hug. When you turned towards the small aisle for chips, he glanced at the ceiling. The cameras were on the other side of the store. As you were choosing what junk to munch on, he leaned forward and rested his head on your shoulder.
Jumping at the sudden sensation of his warmth radiating on your cheek, all the heat travelled upwards as your eyes met his. The dullness to them now replaced with a hint of playfulness. His calloused hand began to brush yours. Slowly making their way up before he let go to grab a bag for himself.
Once again, your stomach felt all the butterflies going crazy with his touch. Chewing on your lower lip, you let out a shaky sigh as he lifted his head. Slowly walking away without looking back.
Such a tease.
Two can play that little game, you thought.
Aizawa made his way towards the refreshments. Searching for the perfect drink to pair with his chips, he settled for a can of beer. It wasn’t allowed but he could easily sneak it in knowing it was almost curfew. In his peripheral version, he could see you choosing as well. Following your hands, he saw how you had just chosen a can of soda.
“Got everything you need?” He asked.
“Not yet. I need some chocolate.” Pulling him towards the aisle with chocolates, you saw your target. The one you had been craving for a week now. Scanning the area, you saw how the coast was clear and it was your turn to make your move. “Hey, can you hold these for a sec?”
Handing him your stuff, you turned around and began to tug on the hems of your sweatshirt. His eyebrows jumped at your small actions. When you began to strip off your sweatshirt. The heavy material lifted your undershirt quite a bit. A bit of your skin got exposed to the coldness the store had to offer.
The coldness had no effect on Aizawa. Instead, he felt heat growing in his system. His mouth suddenly felt dry. His finger twitched and his jaw clenched. The hold he had on the goods tightened. Upon seeing you bend down to grab a bar of chocolate, the neckline of your shirt was big enough to expose the black strap of your bra.
‘Behave, Shota.’ His mind scolded him. ‘This is the only line you should NOT cross. At least not yet.’
Through your peripheral vision, you could see just how much your plan had worked. His squinted eyes only gave away his deposition. Flicking your hair just as you faced him, you caught a hold of his stare and blinked innocently.
“What’s wrong,” You took a step forward as you got a hold of your things. “Shota?”
His eyebrow jerked and his mouth was now a desert. Not wanting for things to get out of hand, he walked past you and made his way to the counter. Every ounce of his concentration focused on not pinning you against the wall and giving the cashier a show. Biting the corner of his tongue he paid for his purchase and waited outside as you paid for yours.
“You okay, sensei?” The last word was rather breathy, just as you intended it to be. Seeing him controlling himself was rather fun. He was struggling and the signs were very subtle. The only thing giving him away were his twitching eyes and furrowed brows.
Grabbing the bag of food from you, he led the way back to campus grounds. His eyes scanning the area and taking note of the small cameras set up on the street lights. The both of you were now approaching a blind spot. Letting out a rather long sigh, he held on to your wrist and pulled you into the dimly lit area.
“Be quiet.” Aizawa instructed.
Your eyes widened as you began to realize what he was planning on doing. The cameras would surely pick all of that up but then again, if he knew the area well then it should be fine. Heart now racing, you chewed on your inner cheek as the both of you were now approaching the blind spot. The small alcove one of the buildings had.
Things were now a blur.
The small squeak that escaped your mouth as your back hit the wall was immediately muted when his lips crashed into yours. Literally taking your breath away, you eased into the kiss. Wrapping your arms around his neck, you pulled the elastic band from his hair. On your tiptoes, you leaned on to his torso for support. Your knees were now barely functioning.
Knowing what was running through your thoughts, he bent down a little. His hands held tracing whatever curves your body had to offer. When you began to nibble on his lip, his hand grabbed your knee pit and lifted you. More than happy that you instantly clung your legs around his waist.
Tugging on his hair, he accidentally let out a small groan. Feeling your soft lips making their way towards his neck sent was enough for him to tighten his hold on you. The sucking sensation that followed made his member twitch and his pants tighten. A chill ran down his spine when your tongue trailed its way up to his jaw.
“Fuck...” He growled once your noses were touching once more. Running his tongue across your lip, you parted your mouth to give him entry. Tugging on your lower lip, he went back in with a much more long and thorough kiss. When he parted his lips from yours, his hot citrusy breath brushed your face. “Don’t tease me unless you know what you want, kitten.”
“Oops.” You brushed your nose against his. Your heavy lidded eyes hazy with need. The way he gave you a pet name hit differently. “My bad~”
The tips of his lips began to travel down your neck. Using his nose to move the neckline of your shirt, he licked a patch of your skin before biting on to it. The small moan echoing in his ears made curious. What other sounds could he make you do if he were given the chance?
‘This isn’t the right place, Shota.’ Once again his thoughts managed to save him from moving any further.
Pecking your lips once more, he put you down and patted your head. Despite the dimness, he could still see how flushed you were. Fixing himself, he looked at his watch and gestured that it was time to head back.
“Just in time for curfew~” You teased. “I won’t get in trouble now, right?”
“(Y/N).” He brushed his fingers with yours. The short contact the both of you shared was something his body still yearned for. “You are aware that you're still 17 right?”
“Yes.” Your step still had a certain hop to them. “And I’m aware that my birthday is coming up.”
“I’m not implying anything.” He handed your bag of food. Now giving a safe distance between you two. “I just want us to be careful. You’re still young.”
“Are you doubting?” The slight sadness in your voice was something you couldn’t hold back. “If it clears things up, I really am serious about you. I was shocked but elated that you were more than willing to try if things would work out. But, if you really don’t want to do this then I’ll back out. At least it’s still early and won’t hurt as much.”
“I never said I didn’t want to do it.” He stated. “What happened back there, I almost got carried away. I wouldn’t want you to regret this or… us.”
“Us?” The smile on your face was rather adorable for him. You felt your cheeks heating up at the confirmation that there really is something between you two and that it wasn’t just you carrying the feelings.
Lifting the corners of his mouth, he patted your head once more before picking his pace up. Ready to head back to the teacher’s dorms.
“Wait for my call later,” He glanced at you over his shoulder. A smirk on his face. “Kitten.”
“That I will, Aizawa-sensei.” You replied with a huge smile on your face.
Running back to the dorms, you carefully opened the doors. Making sure that no one was around, you snuck across the hall and took the stairs. The dimly lit hallway towards your room made things easier.
Moments later, you were now munching on chips. Your phone rang and for the rest of the night, till one of you finally caved in to slumber, Aizawa and you spent it on talking about whatever topics came to your mind.
At the end of call, both of you agreed that convenience stores would now be a recurring thing.

Shawarmas (Bucky Barnes Imagine)
The first time Bucky saw Y/N was at the Shawarma place that Tony loved so much. He sat sandwiched between Thor and Steve, laughing carelessly at the jokes that Sam told. The team took over the small restaurant, barely having enough space to walk around without bumping shoulders.
You were working the register, your hair restrained under your hairnet and that God-awful yellow visor that they made you wear as your company uniform. Bucky had a full view of you, smiling to yourself once you overheard the conversations the team was having. You chuckled to yourself softly, not wanting to be seen eavesdropping on the team, but Bucky noticed.
He wanted nothing else but to introduce himself and talk to you but he had forgotten how to talk to women, being frozen for over 70 years and all.
Next time, he thought to himself. He knew there was bound to be one. Tony loved this place, after all.
-
Bucky was starting to raise suspicion from the team. Every time someone mentioned wanting to go get something to eat, Bucky would perk up and suggest the Shawarma place. It worked the first two times, for the most part, and he was so excited to see you again.
The first time was a Monday night. Steve, Nat and himself had finished a day-long training to make sure they weren’t getting rusty, a comment that Nat took to offense and brutally took apart the electronic dummy that Tony sent off to train them. Needless to say, Tony didn’t appreciate it and vowed to never suggest that Nat was getting rusty ever again.
Bucky was the first one in the car and the first one out once Steve put the car in park at the shop’s parking lot. He smiled at the familiar neon sign outside of the restaurant, not wanting to wait another second to see you again. Once he entered, his smile faded when he realized you weren’t working that night. The man behind the register was not nearly as beautiful as you with his greasy hair, patchy beard, and what seemed like a toupee clipped on the company visor.
“Geez, Bucky.” Steve laughed once he entered the establishment. “Didn’t know you liked Shawarma this much.”
“Yeah, right.” Bucky mumbled, trying not to show his disappointment as he fell in line behind the last customer. Bucky, Nat and Steve got their food to-go, Bucky’s request, and ate on the way back home.
The second time was after a successful mission. The whole team was bruised, tired, and most of all, hungry. Tony suggested that they just get food instead of trying to cook. The team agreed, wanting nothing else but to fill their stomachs with food that didn’t come from the pre-packaged meals in the ship.
“How does Shawarma sound?” Bucky asked, apprehensively.
The first person to be suspicious was Steve. He looked at Bucky with a cocked eyebrow, knowing that they just got Shawarma with Nat, who was assigned to a different mission and therefore was not with the group, two days ago. Bucky flashed him a shy smile, shrugging shoulders, as if saying, “What? I just like Shawarma.” Steve let it go and chimed in, “I’m okay with that.”
Tony patted Bucky’s back, “Good call, Old guy.”
“So, should we start heading out?” Bucky jumped up, his body suddenly feeling a burst of energy. “Which cars should we ta-”
“No need,” Tony yelled from across the room. “They deliver.”
Everyone else was too tired to notice Bucky’s sigh of disappointment, except for Steve.
-
Bucky realized that if he mentioned the Shawarma place you worked at one more time, the team would personally chip in and buy him his own DIY-at-home Shawarma maker just to get him to finally shut up about Shawarma. Even Tony, the original lover of Shawarma, was getting tired of Bucky mentioning it.
He decided that he would go in the shop, alone, to save himself the embarrassment of confessing his little crush on the cashier. Bucky took a deep breath and readjusted the cap he was wearing over his freshly cut hair before he entered the shop. He wasn’t used to having hair so short. It reminded him of his hair back in the 40′s.
His heart stopped when he saw you, smiling graciously at the middle-aged woman who was reciting her order. Even under the shade of the visor, you seemed to glow. You hair was down, no hairnet in sight. He saw just how long it was, going past your elbows. He saw that you had two ear piercings on one ear and only one on the other. Bucky also saw that you had a tattoo above your ear, right before where your hair grew. He was so enchanted by your presence that he didn’t even notice that he was the next person.
“Hey, dude,” the man behind him tapped his shoulder. Bucky turned around, a bit irritated that he would interrupt the trance that he was in. “She’s been calling you for like three minutes now.”
Bucky’s cheeks reddened, mumbling an incoherent, “Sorry.” He walked up to the register to be greeted by your smiling face.
“What can I get you today?”
Bucky had never been that close to you and his heart started beating a million times a minute because of it. He stumbled over his words when ordering his usual, mentally scolding himself for being so nervous. He thought he made an absolute fool of himself in front of you. If he couldn’t even tell you his order, how was he supposed to strike a conversation with you that went beyond wanting a large Dr. Pepper with his order?
-
Bucky felt like he blew his only chance with you. Because who would really want to give a chance to the blubbering man who couldn’t even say his order properly?
He stopped bringing up the Shawarma place to the team, not wanting to go back and embarrass himself in front of you for the second time. It had been a week since that last encounter but it was still fresh in his mind.
Tony was throwing a birthday party for Bucky that night, despite Bucky’s protests that everyone he knew was either dead or about to be dead, with the exception of Steve. Tony dismissed his concerns and reassured Bucky that his party will be grand. Knowing that no amount of complaints will ever stop a Stark party, Bucky just put on his best suit and the “Birthday Boy” sash that Tony insisted he wore.
“So as everyone knows,” Tony spoke into the microphone, catching everyone’s attention. “Today is Mr. Bucky Barnes’s birthday and to celebrate that, I decided to get our favorite place to cater tonight’s event. Shawarmas for everyone!”
Bucky’s eyes widened as he saw the Shawarmas being wheeled into the compound. He was torn; He wanted to see you but at the same time he wished that you weren’t working his party, especially because he was turning a hundred-something years old. And if his moment of foolishness and absolute awkwardness wasn’t enough to turn you off, he was certain his age would be the last straw.
“She’s here, you know.”
Bucky jumped at the sound of Steve’s voice. He blushed, “What are you talking about?”
Steve chuckled, placing a hand on Bucky’s shoulder, “Pal, you know I’m not stupid, right?”
He groaned, realizing that Steve caught on to his little crush on you. “I don’t know how to talk to her.”
“That doesn’t sound like the Bucky that I know.” Steve stated. “Bucky, take a deep breath and just talk to her. She won’t bite.”
Bucky nodded, knowing that Steve was right and started making his way over to you. I can do this, he repeated to himself.
“Hi.”
You looked up from your station to see a nervous Bucky, fidgeting with his fingers and giving dry laughs to fill the silence between you two. “Hi, what can I get you?”
“My name is Bucky.” He blurted out. That wasn’t the answer she was looking for, dumbass, the voice in his head hissed. “What’s yours?”
“Y/N.” You smiled. “Nice sash, birthday boy.”
Bucky had completely forgotten the embarrassing sash he sported, complete with goofy pictures of the Avengers and himself surrounding the words “Birthday Boy.” He wanted to kill Tony for that. “Thanks.”
“You like Shawarmas a lot, don’t you?” You laughed, starting to create his usual order.
Bucky’s eyebrows raised in surprise as he watched you prepare the order he always gets, “You remember my order.”
“You’re a bit hard to forget.”
Bucky’s heart swelled at your words but then realized he had a metal arm. Of course he would be hard to forget.
“Yeah,” He continued. “The arm is hard not to notice.”
“Not talking about the arm but you have a point.” You responded, sliding the plate towards him.
“What were you talking about?”
You blushed, debating if you should flirt with him. What’s the worse that can happen? “You have the nicest eyes I’ve ever seen. It’s hard to forget that.”
Now it was Bucky’s turn to blush. Had it been 1940 all over again, he would’ve maintained his composure and swept you off your feet with a subtle, yet corny, response. But his mind went blank. All he could do was utter a broken, “Thank you.”
-
By the end of the night, you had accepted that you misread Bucky’s signs. He was indeed interested in the Shawarma and not you. After you complimented his eyes, he walked away after muttering a “thank you” and didn’t speak to you for the rest of the night. You kept your head down, too embarrassed to look up, in fear that he would be looking right at you, laughing at your attempt to flirt with him.
Bucky was cursing himself for not making his move. He had the perfect window to. He watched the guests leave the party and slowly but surely, the Shawarmas were being finished.
By 11PM, you and your co-workers started packing up, getting ready to leave. Bucky watched as you started to take apart the equipment, panicking because he knew this was the last chance he could have. He knew he couldn’t face you outside of the party, not after two failed attempts.
He took the last sip of his drink and made his way over to you. “Y/N!”
You looked back and saw Bucky, reaching out for you. You turned to your co-workers, “I gotta take care of something. I’ll meet you in the truck.”
Bucky stopped in front of you. This is it, Barnes, make it count. “Would you like to go out and get some food with me?”
It took you by surprise. You didn’t expect him to ask you out, especially after he walked away from your attempt to flirt. You watched his eyes shift from your face to his feet, worried glances, thinking that you would reject him. You couldn’t help but get lost in the blue of his eyes. You meant it when you said he had the prettiest eyes you’ve ever seen.
It took you all your might to not melt when he was staring at you at your job a week ago. His small smile as he stared at you, lips slightly parted, chest rising up and down, slowly, and his metal fingers toying with the hem of his t-shirt. He was a sight to see.
“Y-you don’t have to say yes.”
You didn’t realize how long you were enchanted by his eyes until he spoke up again. “What? Huh?”
“I said you don’t have to say yes, YN.” He sounded defeated.
“No, no.” You shook your head and watched his face drop with even more discouragement. Your eyes grew wide once you realized what you said. “No! I mean, yes, I would love to go out to get food with you.”
You saw him sigh in relief, “Oh thank God.”
You reached for the pen in your pocket and grabbed his human arm, scribbling down your phone number. “Call me, yeah?”
Bucky gave you a small nod and watched you wave goodbye before you joined the rest of your co-workers.
Fuck, Bucky thought. Where the hell am I supposed to take her if the only place I go to is the one she works at?

Form A Family Of Our Own
Just silliness and fluff and lots of romance and attempts at humour here, and absolutely no angst. You’re welcome! It’s a continuation to the Timari Soulmates Secret Santa I created for @worlds-tiniest-spook-pastry, though I’m just skipping things in the chronological order (aka the BartAdrien reveal but we all knew that was going to happen so it’s fine. This is also my Maribat March day 9, Sleepover at the same time. Have fun!
Ao3 | Part 1 | Part 2
This is Maribat -- don’t like; don’t read
_____________________
“Does everyone have everything they need? No one needs to use Mari to use the puppy eyes to get Dick to go to the store?”
Marinette laughed at Tim’s words while the others shook their heads. They had checked they had everything at least thrice already, it wasn’t going to change no matter how many times he wanted them to make sure of it. When Tim still didn’t look convinced, Marinette simply grabbed his wrist and stroked the skin with her thumb to help him calm down, just like he sometimes did for her.
After all, touching your soulmate’s mark would always be a comforting feeling.
Tim’s shoulders slumped a little as he relaxed before he turned to her and smiled gently. Marinette recognised this as a silent thank you, and so she beamed in response.
“Are we ready to ruin everyone else’s day now?” Conner then asked, leaning against the doorframe. He seemed to be trying to look relaxed and not in the least excited for this, but they all knew better, considering he seemed to be itching to go do just that.
“Oh yeah. I’ve got the cameras and the scavenger lists. Two teams of three, soulmates in the opposite—” Cassie began, but after she got the puppy face from both Bart and Adrien, she sighed in resignation. “Fine, soulmates in the same team. This is why I’m not supposed to look at either of them while giving orders. Damn it.”
Tim rolled his eyes. All of their friends were idiots (“Like you aren’t as well,” an accusing voice said in his head, and it was a bit concerning how much it sounded like Marinette), but they were also the best — Tim wouldn’t change them for the world.
“I love how the rule is supposed to be ‘no metas in Gotham’, but we’re getting like three metas and two that technically count as metas because Miraculous coming anyway to the home of the one that actually originally set said rule in place,” Adrien mused, remembering what he’d been told at some point after the reveal. And after they had already met Cassie.
Marinette let out an amused laugh. “Oh yeah. Anyway. Could someone please get our bags to the Manor so we can just start with the scavenger hunt?”
“On it!”
There was a flash as all their bags, Conner and Bart disappeared and Cassie took out a clock. She watched it tick for a few seconds before she lifted her gaze again to find her missing friends. “You’re slow. It took you two nearly ten seconds. We’re not even outside the city boundaries, boys.”
“Well, fuck you too, we were carrying five bags each because some of us don’t know how to pack small.”
Cassie simply flipped Conner off before she handed him a scavenger list. “You wanna be with Tim and Mari or Bart and Adrien? I’m fine with either one, just decide fast.”
“Bart. And Adrien, I guess.”
“HEY! ”
Idiots, the lot of them.
It didn’t take them long to sort out into teams and get to the centre of the city. Mari, Tim and Cassie stood on one side, looking down at the people that were all a lot taller than them. Mari cocked her hips and tilted her head, her dark blue sundress following the movement.
“Oh, you’re going down, Chaton.”
“I don’t think so, Buginette — I’m not sacrificing my win even if I’d sacrifice my life for you.”
“Okay, too far too soon, go away.”
Their lists were as followed:
Ask a cashier for the nutritional value of an inedible thing
Act like a stranger were famous and ask for their autograph
+1 if you can get them to take a picture with you
Offer a stranger a penny for their thoughts
Ask a stranger to sign your petition against the euthanasia of rabid puppies
+1 if you can get them to sign your palm
Lie in the grass next to a road and pretend to be making snow angels
Ask the opposite gender if they believe in fate
Ask a stranger where the closest local Christmas festival is
+1 if/when they say they don’t know, ask them how else do they appease the gods
Ask if you can get a discount on a thing that costs less than a dollar
+1 if you pronounce it horribly wrong
+1 if you buy the product with pennies
Ask a stranger if they have seen your cat and proceed to describe a full-grown tiger
Knock on someone’s door and sing them a Christmas song
+1 if the person is a stranger
+1 if you sing Frozen’s Let It Go after you’ve said you’re going to sing a Christmas song
Fake a cheesy proposal in a public place
Ask a cashier if dentists recommend using a toothbrush
Ask a cashier if they have healthy cigarettes
+1 if they say no, you yell “you’re lying” and run away dramatically
Ask a stranger if they can see anyone and point to an empty spot
“You’ve got two hours. The clock starts now,” Tim announced, set an alarm in their group chat so everyone would hear, and then they were all running to get things done.
❋❋❋
“Alright, Bart, go on. You’re the first.”
“You’re not allowed to complain if you wanted to do the same thing, then.”
“Remember, if it involves talking with someone, you can’t be going on your own pace, especially not with a civilian! The camera won’t be able to catch it!”
“Well, your cameras suck!”
With a blink, Bart was standing in front of a door and knocked on it. Adrien, who was right behind Kon, had to contain his laughter somehow because he knew that to Bart whoever lived there was taking ages, even if it was less than a minute — and thus bearable — to him.
When the door was finally opened, Bart immediately started speaking. “Hello, are you interested in hearing Christmas carols?”
“...In the middle of the summer?”
“I know what I said.”
“Uh, no thank you. Have a nice day.”
Bart returned to them pouting. “They didn’t even give me a chance. I’m not that horrible of a singer,” he huffed, crossing his arms.
Adrien took Bart’s hand in his own and pressed a light kiss on his fingers. “Don’t worry, we still have plenty of time, and I doubt it was because of your singing voice. It’s just a weird thing to ask this time of the year. Try again.”
He did. Fortunately for Bart, the next-door neighbour opened their door much faster than the previous one.
“Hiya, are you interested in hearing Christmas carols?”
“Now?”
“Yes.”
“Well, I guess. Sure, go ahead.”
And then Bart proceeded to sing Let It Go off-key. The person listening to him even applauded his singing and gave him a candy (that Kon forced him to throw away or at least not eat until Tim could do a check up on it in case someone was trying to poison him or something. The Bat paranoia was getting to all of them.) It was fun.
“So, three points for us. That was a great start, Bart!” Adrien said, checking the boxes on the list. “You did film it, right Kon?”
“Obviously. I wouldn’t accidentally not. Hold the camera, Adrien. We’re going to a shop now and annoy the heck out of everyone. Tim is so not going to be happy when he realises some of us might get banned from the shop forever,” he snickered.
“I’m already feeling sorry for the employees.”
“At least we aren’t about to be assholes, really.”
“No, just weird as hell. Maybe they’ll get a story or two to tell others and discuss in the break room when they’re talking about the weirdest and worst customers they’ve had.”
“Do they really do that?”
“Oh yeah.”
“Damn.”
It didn’t take them too long to arrive at the store. Adrien and Bart went in first, pretending to be actually considering buying something when Kon came in and looked around for a moment. Then he walked to an unsuspecting employee. “Excuse me, do you have any of those clairvoyance foes? I was thinking of getting one.”
“I must ask you to repeat what you asked for, sir, I’m afraid I didn’t quite catch it,” the woman working said.
“It’s alright. I meant classical woes.”
“I’m so sorry, sir, I must say I don’t understand what exactly you mean by that.”
“Clarification folds, miss.”
“Oh, do you perhaps mean classification folders?”
“Yeah, that’s what I said.”
“...Of course, sir. Yes, we do have those. Do you want me to show you where they are, or would you like me to just point you in the correct direction, sir?”
“If you could show me where they are, that would be great.”
“Of course, sir. This way.”
The woman led him through the shop as Kon glanced behind himself and saw Adrien following them from a safe distance. Bart looked like he was practically vibrating, like he wanted to do something, but all he could do was jerking aborted movements. Actually, scratch that, he probably was vibrating. Of course.
“Here they are. Is there anything else I could help you with?”
“Is it possible to get a discount on these?”
“I— I’m afraid not, sir, but they’re only a dollar so…”
“That’s fine. Thank you for your help anyway.”
“It was no problem.”
Once the woman was gone, Adrien and Bart walked to him. “Oh my kwami, I pity her so much. I’m genuinely sorry she had to deal with you and I’m kind of considering going to find her and give her a tip for dealing with you,” Adrien snorted after he cut off the filming. “I don’t even care that’s not a custom in stores, I still want to do it.”
Bart laughed. “I’m gonna go do just that if you give me some money.”
Adrien did. He gave him twenty dollars. He could almost feel Wayzz shaking his head at the two of them even despite the fact Wayzz was with Marinette at the very moment.
“I hope you’re ready to keep recording cuz I ain’t done yet,” Kon said, earning an eye roll from Adrien.
“Sure. Let’s do this.”
Adrien kept his distance while they were walking to the checkout, Bart appearing next to him at some point. Adrien bumped his shoulder against Bart’s to express he knew he was there, the act soon returned. A smile made its way to his lips. They only started paying attention to what Kon was doing when they heard him speaking to the cashier.
“Excuse me, mister, but what is the nutritional value of this thing?”
“I’m sorry to inform you, but folders aren’t edible.”
“I am aware. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t have nutritional value.”
“I’m afraid I don’t know what it is, sir. I’d only be able to find out if they had given me a list, but unfortunately, they did not.”
“Oh, alright. Well, I’d like to purchase it anyway.”
“That makes one dollar.”
“Sure, wait a second.”
Kon pulled out his wallet and went through his money, counting it silently and quickly. Then he offered the cashier a handful of coins — all of them pennies. The disbelieving face on the cashier’s face, as he started counting, was miserable and a little sad to see, but no helping it now. Thankfully the product only cost a dollar, it didn’t take him that long to do it.
After paying, he went back to the end of the line, waited it, and asked the same person if they had healthy cigarettes. The cashier looked rather resigned at that point but stayed polite and told him that no, they didn’t have those because those didn’t really exist, and “are you sure you’re old enough in the first place?”
Kon gasped loudly. “You’re lying!” he yelled and ran dramatically out. The other customers didn’t even pay attention to him as if it was just another day. It probably was. This was Gotham, after all. Bart and Adrien made their way out behind him, slipping a twenty-dollar bill to the man behind the checkout and quickly apologised he had to deal with that, “please accept this.”
Then they were out and laughing, even if still feeling bad for doing it.
“Mari would kill me if she had to see that, honestly. She used to do this at their bakery and god, the stories she sometimes tells me,” Adrien said, shaking his head. “I hope that paying for them for suffering because of us was good enough. I don’t really know what else I could have done to compensate for having to deal with us.”
“No one does!” Bart told him before he snatched the camera from him. “Go on, your turn, Sunflower!”
The nickname was kind of fitting — blond hair and being a bit taller than Bart tended to do that. Adrien blushed a little at the pet name and then forced himself to get his thoughts back on the trail.
He buried his head in his hands before taking a look at the list. Then he grinned, getting a wonderful idea. Hopefully, he wouldn’t hurt anyone by doing it. If he was lucky (for once, considering he was the Bad Luck incarnated), he would end up finding someone who would ake it more as a joke.
Stopping someone who didn’t look like she was in any hurry, Adrien asked, “Excuse me, but do you believe in fate?”
“Yeah, I guess. Why?” she responded. Adrien visibly slumped in relief.
“Oh thank god.”
“...What is it.”
“My soulmate and I were just arguing about it a second ago and I needed a new opinion. Now I can tell him he’s very very wrong, and that we clearly belong together ”
The girl looked at him like he was a ghost. For a second, Adrien was afraid he’d hurt her feelings and was ready to apologise, but then she burst out laughing and doubled over.
“Oh my god. That’s wonderful and so hilarious! God, I was afraid you were about to flirt with me, dude, but that’s so much better. I wish you and your soulmate the best of luck. Buy him his favourite food, maybe he’ll then accept that you’re meant to be,” she said smiling and winked. Then she punched him lightly in the arm. “Go on, dude, your perfect happy ending is waiting for you!”
Adrien could feel a wide smile spread on his face. “Thanks, I will! You go get your happy ending as well, whether you’ll find it in a passion, person or a pet!” They exchanged numbers and names (her name was Zoanne, and Adrien had a feeling they’d become good friends over time), both excited about it, and parted in good spirits. Adrien waved to her as he walked to where Bart was staring at them.
Once he actually paid attention to how both Conner and Bart looked like (staring at him, Conner not even focusing on the camera), he tilted his head and arched his eyebrow. “What is it?”
“Dude.”
“What?”
“Duuuudde.”
“What?”
“Only you. Only you could make a friend while doing a scavenger hunt task and basically also pranking her. Wow.”
Adrien just shrugged. He wondered how the girls and Tim were doing.
❋❋❋
Tim was the only one of them who still had any sense of shame or embarrassment at this point (and they’d already completed most of the points on the list between the two young women), but he was determined to win and actually do something for the win as well so he wouldn’t be able to care. Soon enough, he was walking up to a stranger as Marinette was filming.
“Excuse me, miss, but have you seen my cat? She’s a sweetheart and I lost her when I was out with my friends.”
“Oh, you have a cat? I’m sorry, I don’t think so, but what does she look like? I could try to pay attention in hopes to see her later.”
“She’s a beautiful orange with white in her face, chest, belly and the underside of her tail, she’s about this tall,” he put his hand at about his waist, “and she’s got a lot of black stripes. Also, she’s a bit loud when she decides she wants to talk, but it’s not that bad.”
The woman backed off slowly as he was talking with a concerned look on her face. She was gone before Tim finished talking.
Marinette shook her head fondly and placed the camera in Tim’s hands as he returned. “Have fun trying not to laugh behind the camera!”
She wondered around like she was looking for something worriedly. When someone came to ask her what was wrong, she internally congratulated herself.
“Well, Monsieur, I was looking for the nearest local Christmas festival. Do you know where one might be?” she asked, looking innocently at him. “I really do need to find one, preferably close.”
“In July? Yeah, I don’t think I know where one would be at this time of the year.”
Marinette adopted a horrified expression on her face. “But— But— How do you appease the gods you might have angered, then?”
“The what?”
“The gods, obviously.”
“What gods?”
“Those,” she said and pointed behind the man. When the man turned around, he was greeted by the violet eyes of the fox god of mischief and trickery as well as the orange eyes of the pink tiger goddess of stealth and the brown eyes of the small but way too enthusiastic monkey god of jubilation. On any other occasion, she wouldn’t let civilians see kwamii, but this was an exception and she had Wayzz hide them from the view of every other person that didn’t know of their existence already, so it was fine. The most likely case was, the man would forget about meeting the kwamii or think of it as a hallucination of sorts later on.
When the man looked back to where Marinette had been, she was already gone. It was too much fun to mess with people a little bit. She knew the kwamii would be following her and perfectly capable of keeping themselves hidden when she told them so, so she didn’t worry about them.
Cassie snickered as Tim signed she was done filming. “That was amazing. I’ll go next!”
She walked to another stranger, Tim and Mari following her from a distance. Tim already had his camera recording. “Oh my god!” she gasped when she noticed a young person standing alone at the corner of a clothing shop. “It’s you! God, I never thought I’d meet you in real life!” When she ran to them and jumped a little as though she was excited, she also let out a squeal.
The person looked at her weirdly. “Excuse me? Have we met?”
“No, but now we have and it’s the most amazing thing! I’m such a huge fan. Can I please have your autograph? I want to show all my friends I met you!”
“Uhh…. Sure.”
Cassie handed them a piece of paper and a pen (which, where did she even get them?) and watched in anticipation as they wrote their name on it. Then she pulled out her phone. “Could I take a selfie with you? Please? I’m not going to put it all over the social media if you want to keep your whereabouts private, but I just want a picture.”
The person seemed to be already done with her, and probably guessed that this was the quickest way to get rid of her. They agreed and crouched a little to fit in the same picture easily. Cassie did a little peace sign, acting her role of an enthusiastic fan with all her heart. It took Tim and Mari their everything to keep from laughing.
When Cassie returned to them, flipping her hair, Tim handed her the camera. “Film this as closely as you can,” he said in passing and walked where there were as many people as possible, to the park nearby, Marinette and Cassie following in his wake. When Marinette was close enough, he made his way to her and swiped strands of hair behind her ear.
“Marinette, my dear, I love you more than anything in this world, you know that, right?” At Marinette’s slow but still a little confused nod, he continued. “I’ve thought about this long and hard, and I’ve decided I would like to take the next big step in our relationship,” he said loud enough for the people nearby to hear.
“Every time I look in your eyes, I get a peaceful feeling. When I am around you, everything seems perfect. I promise that I will always be there for you in whatever you do and support you in ups and downs as long as I live. You give my life meaning and make it worth living. You’re the shoulder I can always trust to be there for me to lean on when I need it, you’re the one who I can always count on to be by my side. You were made for me, and I was made for you, and no matter what our souls are made of, mine and yours are the same.” Tim took a deep breath and looked at Marinette, whose eyes seemed to be glimmering as she bit her lip.
“In case you ever foolishly forget this one truth, let me declare it out loud for you, in front of all these people who are here to witness this: I am always thinking about you. I want to form a family of our own with you. Your words are written on my skin for the world to see who I belong to, a reminder for you should you ever doubt it. Feel free to doubt this world — doubt the stars are fire; Doubt that the Sun does move; doubt the truth to be a liar; But never doubt I love. I certainly have never had even a moment’s doubt of that. I believe in you completely. You are my dearest one. My reason for life. You’re the answer to all those lonely prayers at night when I wished for someone to be there one day, and every day I thank God or Fate or whoever gave me you that you’re here now.”
By then Marinette was openly crying and she had covered her mouth with her hands, but Tim kept on going. He was not done, and he was determined to make this proposal the cheesiest he possibly could. As the CEO of Wayne Enterprises, people were bound to notice, and he only had one shot at it. “And I will love you against all odds in this world. Let me defy fate, let me defy stars. Let me defy everyone and anyone who may deny love, who may deny our love. Above all, you are my love, you are my stars, you’re my galaxy.” Tim lowered himself on the ground, now on one knee in front of his soulmate, his Marinette. He produced a ring box from his pocket and held it open for her. “So, as my best friend and the love of my life, will you be my one and only or my everything?”
“Are you— Is this for real?” Marinette whispered, tears glimmering on her eyelashes and staining her cheeks. Tim nodded, biting his lip. He knew it was one of the things on the scavenger list, so he hoped Marinette wouldn’t take this as only one of them.
Marinette swallowed and smiled brightly. “Yes!” she breathed out and fell on her knees next to Tim, not really caring if the action had her scrape her knees. Tim placed the ruby ring with a diamond halo on her ring finger and pressed a kiss on her fingers before Marinette lost her patience, cupped his face and kissed him on the lips.
When they broke apart, they could hear the cheering of the crowd. Tim looked to the side to Cassie who gave him a thumbs-up, the camera still in hand, probably recording as well. Bart, Conner, Adrien and the entire family, as well as Jagged and Penny, were all standing behind them. Thank god he’d half-planned this and told them to get themselves over there at a specific time and to stay behind Cassie so they wouldn’t bother or distract him.
Adrien just ran to Marinette once they locked eyes and hugged her, congratulating her for the engagement. Bart slapped Tim’s back and did the same. When Tim got nothing from Conner, he raised his eyebrow because there was no way Conner stayed quiet about this without a very good reason.
“What is it.”
“Well. Technically, this can’t be counted as a point since you didn’t fake a proposal.”
“Fuck off.”
“You know I’m right.”
“Go away you overgrown toddler with too many leather jackets.”
“That’s such a creative insult you’ve got there, Timmy. Sounds like you had it memorised, even. How long have you been waiting for a time to use it?”
Tim just stuck out his tongue at Kon as Marinette and Cassie laughed at them.
Kwami, did Mari love her friends (and fiancé — she was never getting over being able to call him that.)
❋❋❋
“Alright. We gotta do something that is like, something people do at actual sleepovers,” Cassie announced as she flopped down on the mattress they had dragged into the biggest guestroom in the Manor they could find. The mattresses were all in a circle around their snacks so that it would be easy for them to talk and eat. Two of the mattresses were also bigger so Marinette could share with Tim and Bart could share his with Adrien. “I don’t know, like, trade secrets or gossip or… Oh, I know! Let’s play Never Have I Ever!”
The sly smirk on Cassie’s face did little to assure Mari or Tim this was a safe idea, but they were going to do it anyway, weren’t they.
“You did bring the shot glasses, didn’t you, Kon? Get them out, like, now. We gotta do this properly! And Adrien, you got the tequila, right? Please tell me it’s not flavoured.”
Adrien took out the bottles from his bag. “They are flavoured. Coconut, mango and chipotle.”
“Oh for fuck’s sake.”
Marinette saw it as a good moment to butt in. “Yeah, that works. Tim, choose the flavour.” She looked at her beloved next to her, poking his side when he didn’t answer.
“Huh? Oh. Uh, mango?”
“Alright, we’re going with that then. Adrien, can you please open the bottle?”
He did, and the game began. To the surprise of exactly no one, Cassie was the one to start. “Never have I ever ‘cleaned up’ by piling everything into a closet or pushing everything under my bed.”
She smiled as Tim, Bart and Marinette reached for the bottle with various states of grumbling, filling their glasses and downing them.
This evening was definitely going to end with them drunk. The only reason some of them wouldn’t be was if they were simply damn tolerant, which was basically what all of them except for Tim were — Adrien and Marinette because of the long use of the miraculous, Cassie because she was half goddess and technically an Amazon, Bart simply because of his fast digestion (damned Speedster), and well. Kon was Kon.
This was not going to end well, now was it.
“Alright, I’ll go next. Never have I ever lied to a police officer,” Adrien said. Marinette looked at him like he was crazy before it turned sour as she reached out for the bottle once again at the same time as the rest of them did. “Wait, how have you all lied to a police officer?”
“Well, Kitty, it might be because half of the police officers were corrupt in Paris during Papillon's time of reign, and it was simply safer. That's one thing. A better question would be, how have you never lied to a police officer?”
Tim rested his head on Marinette’s shoulder as he explained his own reasoning. “Then there's the fact my brother happens to be a police officer. I've totally lied to him multiple times. Same with Commissioner Gordon at least once or twice.”
The rest of them nodded along. “Yup, lied to Nightwing, which means, lied to Police Officer Grayson. No regrets, 5/5, would recommend, he's too much of a mother hen sometimes,” Cassie stated.
It was probably good she stated it then and not a minute later, because only a moment after that, the door flew open and Jason marched in. Marinette and Tim buried their heads in their hands or the mattress, Adrien just shook his head, and the three others were staring at Jason like this was somehow that much of a surprise. A minute later, a mattress was pushed inside the room as well.
“Hey kids!” he yelled as he settled in and had Cassie, and Bart and Adrien move themselves away from one another so he could push his mattress between them.
“Jason, what are you doing here.”
The deadpan question shot at him was said in a tone with such an irritated undertone that Jason mock-winced.
“Well. Our dick of a brother—” Jason motioned at himself and Tim, “—sent me here to be a babysitter for a bunch of kids over the fragile age of 21.”
“Dick! ”
Dick looked inside from the door and immediately got thrown pillows at. He scrunched up his nose and looked at them with disappointment. That got him six disappointed eyes staring at him from around the room. “Well, you can’t actually blame me! There are two couples sleeping in the same room and oh my god also on the same mattresses and I am worried and concerned and this is my safety measure to make sure we get no babies after this night.”
“You do know Tim and I are getting married, right?”
“Precisely, you just made my point.”
“Besides, we wouldn’t do it in the same room with these guys anyway, and also Bart and Adrien can’t get children because neither has a womb?”
“Still.”
Marinette sighed. “Fine. As long as you stay away for the rest of the night. At least Jace could be fun. You, instead, are not fun when you’re trying to mother hen us at the same time.”
“Rude much.”
“Now go or I’ll throw you with Jace.”
“You wouldn’t dare.”
“I would, and I could, in the transformed form anyway. I’ve thrown Chaton across the city, don’t test me.”
Dick huffed and closed the door. Jason laughed at Marinette’s words and patted her head after reaching towards her a little bit, over all their snacks and food.
“So, whatcha doin’? Drinking games?”
“Yeah. Never have I ever. You in?”
“Am I in? Oh, definitely. You couldn’t stop me even if you tried.”
“Sounds like trouble. I’m already regretting letting him in.”
A chorus of “same” echoed around the room.
“Alright, so…” Kon looked around the room before his eyes landed on Tim and a smirk tugged on his lips. “Never have I ever sneaked out of my house in the middle of the night alone.”
Tim frowned and drank a new shot. Marinette sighed, elbowed Adrien and took the bottle from Tim’s hands.
“Okay, Pixie, explain. You, sneakin’ out of the house, let alone in the middle of the night? Impossible.”
“Nuh-uh. Need I remind you, Ladybug. Papillon hardly cared about our sleeping schedule. Had to sneak out at night multiple times to save the city. Same with Adrien.”
Adrien nodded, agreeing with her. “‘S not like we had a choice in the matter, it was our sleep or the safety and lives of over two million people. Ga-bitch didn’t leave us much of a choice.”
It was Tim’s turn to interrupt. “And how have you never sneaked out of the house in the middle of the night? You, Mr. ‘I do whatever the hell I want, whenever the hell I want, fuck Batman’?”
“Well, with B it was easier to sneak away when it was the middle of the day and he thought I was somewhere else, and in the Alley, it was safer to either stay inside or stay outside through the night, not both. Also, no house to sneak out of at one point.”
“Oof.”
“Never have I ever died,” Tim shot with a pointed look at his brother and his best friends. Yeah, he was still a little bitter even if it technically wasn’t their fault, so sue him.
“Low blow, dude,” Adrien said as he downed the glass. Marinette shuffled next to him and the next thing he saw was her stealing Adrien’s newly filled shot glass.
He was, least to say, shocked when he saw everyone take a shot, his fiancée included.
“Akumas. To be exact, Desperada and Time Breaker, at the very least. Probably some others too. He’s never been that good at not dying, and there was one time when he had to witness me die like, 25 thousand times.”
“25,913 times, Buginette.”
“Sorry, 25,913 times. He saw me die that many times, and I remember exactly none of them. He probably remembers most.”
“Holy shit.”
After everyone had had time to think over it and let the realisation that two out of their three sunshines had died god knows how many times and had had to witness one another die as many times sink in, Jason simply grabbed the chipotle vodka and took a few gulps. “I need more alcohol to deal with this” had been his explanation, and when he’d been told he’d die if he drank too much, no one realised the mistake until it was too late, because…
“Been there, done that.”
Cue them groaning and hiding their faces in their pillows all the while Jason just laughed.
“Okay, back to the game. Never have I ever been related to a supervillain.”
“Fuck you too Jason.”
Both Conner and Adrien took a shot as they glared at Jason, and Kon gave him the finger.
The rest of the game went in the same style. Everyone was flabbergasted at how many times both Adrien and Marinette had to drink. Those happened with, for example, Bart’s question of drinking before the age of 21 (“We grew up in France, he was a rich ass bitch, what else did you expect? Besides, legal drinking age is 18 there.”), Jay’s of whether someone had peeked at another person in the shower (“Well, I suppose it could be called that. Chaton pretended to be in the shower every time I came over during an Akuma that came for his or Gabritch’s head, nevermind the fact he always had clothes on. It’s not like I knew.”), Cassie’s “never have I ever fantasized about a real person” (“I mean, I was a teenager with a huge crush on Ladybug…” “Gross, Chaton, gross.” “Don’t try and deny having a crush on me as well.” “Well, fuck you too.” “I think I’ll leave that for your fiancé.” “Oh my god, Adrien.”) It just went on and on.
After a few hours of different things, such as hide and seek in the dark (it went as expected — Adrien won. Damn that night vision of his even in civilian form), truth and dare (they were all superheroes or vigilantes, there was hardly anything they wouldn’t say or do in relatively safe company, especially when they were at least tipsy), strip poker (this one Adrien lost because he couldn’t stop making puns, Bart came second last because he couldn’t keep a straight face (“Well, it’s not like anything else about me is straight either.”), which, to everyone’s surprise, Marinette won (“Whaatt? I had to get really creative and good at bluffing during school and Papillon, why is this so shocking to you all?”). They stopped when the next thing to go would’ve been someone’s underwear), and they were definitely glad to finally just lie down and rest.
Then Adrien’s phone went off. He surged out from under the covers and unlocked his phone. In the darkness of the room, the phone lit up his face rather well. He was smiling. Bart pushed the covers aside and sat up next to Adrien.
“Whatcha doing?”
“Texting to a friend.”
“Oh, is that your new friend? The one you met while scavenging?” Bart sounded excited and got closer to be able to see the messages. Adrien just placed his phone so that Bart could see them more easily.
“Yeah, it is.”
Marinette sat up as well. Smiling, she asked, “Oh, you made a friend while scavenging? That’s so wonderful, though only you, Kitty. Only you could manage to do that.”
“Kon said the same thing right after it.”
“Of course he did. What’s her name?”
“Zoanne.”
Beside Marinette, Tim went still and paled. He swallowed audibly and forced himself to look at Adrien. “Do you know her surname?”
“Yeah, it’s Wilkins. Why?”
Tim buried his face in Marinette’s knees and thighs, whining. “Oh god. Kill me now, please. Maybe borrow the Cat Miraculous to do it. Or Jason’s guns.”
“Why? What happened?”
“She’s my ex and I might’ve left her in rather an unfortunate situation.”
Adrien stared at him. Then frowned. Then honest to god scowled. “Are you fucking kidding me.”
“Oh my god, Adrien swore.”
“She’s dating again, by the way. Some girl named Ariana.”
“Please tell me you’re kidding me.”
“Nope.”
“Fuck.”
Marinette raised an eyebrow at him. “Let me guess. You also dated Ariana.”
“Yeah.”
An amused sigh fell of Marinette’s lips as she stroked Tim’s hair. “You’re hopeless.”
Tim scrunched up his nose. “No, I’m not.”
Marinette gave him a look.
“Okay, yeah, I am. Please kill me now. I can’t have you two be friends with nearly all my exes.”
“What do you mean nearly all your exes?”
“Cassie and Steph, and considering Adrien is friends with Zoanne, you’ll probably be soon too, and I’m sure you’re going to call Ariana your friend soon enough as well.”
“You’re forgetting I’m also friends with Tam.”
“Fuck.”
Jason just snorted. “Fuck, Babybird, you’ve got a ton of exes, and your fiancée and her best friend are friends with like, all of them. Damn.”
“Shut up, Jay.”
The next morning, both Tim and Jason were hungover, and Adrien and Marinette could definitely feel themselves having drunk the night before.
They thanked the kwamii they didn’t need to suffer as many or horrible consequences for the drinking and bought and or baked a ton of food for Plagg and Tikki.

“I remember my childhood as a long wish to be elsewhere.”
I have never fit in: with my family and their carefree nature or my peers whose trendy glibs forced my eyes to roll. I tried, relentlessly, to enjoy and accept what I didn’t, to be free in my own skin that never seemed to feel right. I tried too hard and it received strange glances and pointed whispers. It was better keeping to myself.
We were the perfect little family on the outside; two boys and two girls all sweet and well-mannered with their mom and dad who seemed endlessly in love. In the privacy of our home was a different story. Once, I idolized my older siblings and parents. They had the necessary norms a rose-colored child’s naivety yearned to mature into. However, there were days dad wouldn’t get out of bed, their darkened bedroom discouraging visitors. Mom always seemed to take on extra shifts at the hospital during that time, happy-go-lucky her wanting far away from his draining negativity. It’s a fuzzy time because when he graduated into the light, all play and laughing and smiles is what sticks in my brain. But then. And then. The Bad Thing Happened. The one mom still doesn’t like being brought up or discussed in her presence. I can’t forget, though; won’t ever. The nightmares come frequently, when I sleep, if I sleep.
I’m the one who found him. Nine and so very little for my age, I was returning from school when I crossed a little blue jay on the trail and my heart ached for the injured fella. I took it upon myself to save him, racing home because I needed daddy to help me bring the bird with his broken wing to the vet. But stopped short because there he was, hanging from the American Beech in our backyard, a rope crudely tied from its thick branch to around his neck, which was bent at an ungodly angle. Broken, I later found out. I think I was in shock for the longest time because my concern still lied with my rescue animal throughout that whole evening of ambulances and police officials full of questions, my inconsolable family and the gathering, nosy neighbors who wanted a peak of the tragedy.
It was my first trauma and my “why” has still not been satisfied. After that, Mom started a funny relationship with food, which I think she gave to me. She would eat when she was sad, and she was always sad. The family pictures on the wall made her sad, dad’s favorite armchair made her sad, and eventually being in the house at all made her sad. The loss of the second income had her starting a second job so she wasn’t very present, and Brennan got his first ever minimum wage gig. Split between school, hockey, and his after-school cashier position, I rarely saw my older brother. It was left to Halston to look after me and little Callan. She only did with resentment.
The first poem I wrote I titled “Brennan’s dreams” and illustrated how my brother was meant to achieve more than being immortalized as a high school hockey star. If he hadn’t gotten in the car that night. If he hadn’t been drinking. If he hadn’t had that screaming match with mom before he left. My heartache came out through my pen and my new love bloomed. The first and only time I read something I had written out loud and in front of others besides in class was his funeral.
They say life goes on. That the loved ones you lost would want you to keep living. Life is supposed to go on. Mine seemed to end that year. My mom was always plus-size for as long as I can remember and I know that society got to me, her overeating disgusted me, so much to the point that I would refuse to. Excuses of “I just ate” or lies that I was going out with friends for dinner. Bites of saltines or fat-free yoghurt were okay but I mostly filled up on water. I was counting calories in my sleep. When I lost control and overate, I would sob over the toilet as I shoved two fingers deep into my throat. I can vomit on demand now, no fingers required, just a practiced gag reflect.
If I wasn’t comparing myself to the models shiny and smiling on the cover of my favorite magazines, I was hidden in my room, turning into my dad. His bouts of sadness became mine. I didn’t want to leave the dark, my bed, because the world was far too scary: full of judgment and teases, mean jeers that elicited laughter. I would look in the mirror and find every single flaw of mine, with the only conclusion being I was ugly. I’d work through my depression by escaping into other’s fictional realities, my favorite authors’ words painting an escape I desperately craved. I healed with my own words, pouring them into my journals - secrets just for me.
While I was spiraling into my own self-hatred, my mother was battling with her own. Two deaths and she had checked out from the family. She had always been bigger, but it was around the time I was sixteen that she couldn’t move herself off of the couch. Refused, really, because the excess weight she held was too painful to carry further than the restroom. Her solution to her problem was to eat more, the three of us enabling her and bringing her all of the junk food she requested. Mine and Mom’s arguments started when kids from school got wind of her six-hundred pound life and changed their bullying from teasing me to taunts of her.
My saving grace came from being scouted. I thought it was a joke when she introduced herself, handed me her card, and invited me for a meeting and headshots. There was no doubt in my mind I was being punked. But I went, after much debate, indecisiveness, and that extra push I needed from my sister. I didn’t want to be Halston, stuck at home working a dead-end job because mom no longer saw the reason, taking care of her and Callan. Responsibilities that weren’t hers but she took on, resentfully. I saw the begrudging in her eyes that she tried to hide behind a smile when I gushed about being signed and shared I was moving to New York City after graduation.
I left and found who I am. I have my moments of grief, days I don’t want to leave my bed. I still get overcome by the sadness. But the art helps, spending a day in a museum to appreciate the talent I don’t possess, listening to poet’s words that I wish were my own. Constant reminders and daily affirmations of what makes me, me and how great those I’ve surrounded myself with are. One day at a time.
