Always You Series Teaser

Now that it was passing period, the halls of Hogwarts were bustling with students trying to get to their next destination. Chloe stood with the Golden Trio in the hall, discussing the Divination class they had all just stepped out of. The trio were discussing how bogus the class was while Chloe being the mediator tried to validate her friends' feelings but also defend the class and Professor Trelawney.

"I'm not saying you have to like the class or can't have your own opinions on the subject. I'm just saying that calling Professor Trelawney names and-" before Chloe could finish her sentence, she heard a tiny clinking on the floor. She turned around to see a ring on the floor, picking it up and seeing the initials "M.R." on the band. Chloe looked around, spotting the trio of new Slytherin Boys walking away. "Riddle! Wait!" she shouted to get his attention, catching everyone else's in the process.

Mattheo, Theodore, and Lorenzo turned around at the sound of someone calling out for Mattheo. Chloe held up the ring to him, "You dropped this."

Mattheo smirked at the girl, taking the ring from her hands. "Thanks Hufflepuff. Run along back to your friends, people are staring," he said as the trio turned back around and began walking away.

Before Chloe could walk back to her friends, they were already behind her, Hermione grabbing onto Chloe's arm. "Chloe!" hissed Hermione.

"What?!" she answered back confused by Hermione's tone.

"If you forgot, that's you know who's son," Ron whisper yelled at her.

"Just stay away from him Chloe," said Harry.

"He's bad news," chimed Hermione.

"That's rude to judge someone based off their reputation without getting to know them guys. Besides, I wasn't even doing anything! I was just returning his ring! He dropped it on the floor behind me," she exclaimed.

Hermione shook her head. "It's always you Chloe, always trying to see the best in people."

Without another word, Hermione pulled the other 3 along to their next class; the 4 being unaware that a certain curly haired Slytherin boy heard them.

Oop... She's writing something that isn't High&Low for once! But still no K-pop stories even though she named herself enhashoutout lol.

This is a small teaser of an upcoming series I am working on. I got sucked into the Slytherin Boys blackhole about a year ago but never really thought anything about it too much because I'm actually more of a Harry and Cedric stan rather than Draco; but Mattheo Riddle, Theodore Lott, and Lorenzo Berkshire have my whole heart. How am I so invested in fan-made characters within a fictional franchise? NO IDEA! But here we are.

My hyper fixations kind of all sit on a spinning wheel and they take turns coming back to consume my brain. It's Fall time now so my Harry Potter hyper fixation came back as it does every Fall and Winter season but this year it's Slytherin Boys edition. So here I am with a series about Mattheo Riddle. He may or may not be my favorite now because I finally started Deadly Class and I love Marcus played by Benjamin Wadsworth who is Mattheo's fan casted face claim so... (Does anyone want a Deadly Class series also? I would be happy to write it lol)

Writemas day 3

A happy day 3! And cheers for the tag @fantasy-things-and-such

Today’s prompt is: A dungeon

Night had caught Sigmund unawares. He had gotten lost on the way to town and was caught out in the open when the sun had set. This late in the season, the cold was a real killer. As the temperature dropped, he ran in search of any shelter. Luck seemed to be with him, for not far away was an abandoned fort. Sigmund dashed across the open plain. The great doors were unlocked and yielded without struggle.

Sigmund placed one foot over the threshold. The floor seemed sturdy enough. He then placed the second foot in front of the first. Nothing. On the third step, his foot broke through a rotted beam, and he fell through the floor and into the fort’s dungeon.

Sigmund cleared the rubble and brushed himself off. He could see that the dungeon was not entirely dark. One of the cells had been converted into a crude fireplace, and a fire was burning steadily. He barely had any time to ponder it all when a booming voice spoke.

“Well, well, another visitor had dropped by.”

Sigmund turned around and saw a grotesque troll in front of him. The great brute was twice as tall as he was.

“Uninvited, yet not unwelcome. No food have I tasted in many days.” Sigmund could see the troll smack his lips.

“Wait!” Sigmund screamed. “I have a proposition: a contest of riddles. Your wit against mine.”

Laughter like the crash of boulders echoed around the dungeon.

“Puny human, I’d like you to know that my own wit is a match for Loki himself. If I am to win, I will consume you, flesh and bone. Should you outwit me, I will let you live.”

“Deal.” Sigmund said without any hesitation. He knew that even the most untrustworthy trolls and dark elves were bound to unwritten laws of the game and would dare not cheat. Besides, he had played the game as a boy and he still remembered many riddles and brain teasers.

As the challenged, he was given the choice as to who would say the first riddle. As Sigmund couldn’t think of anything, he let the troll go first. This was his riddle:

What lies inside the horn of Thor, vast and unending. Though drunk every day, the mead always returns to the tankard’s rim.

Sigmund knew the answer immediately.

“The tides.” He said much to the disappointment of the troll. He then said his riddle.

As vast as the world serpent, yet smaller than dust. Measurable yet immeasurable. So worthless we waste it, yet so precious we give up anything for more of it.

The troll thought for a moment. He then let out a thunderous laugh.

“Time, the answer is.”

Back and forth the duel went. Sigmund lost track of time. He had just answered another riddle when he realized that he had gone through all the ones he knew. His head was blank. Nothing came to him.

“Have you got a riddle?” The troll’s voice was ominous. “If not, then I will take it that you forfeit, and I win this game.”

“A moment, if you please!” Sigmund was desperate to come up with a riddle. He racked his head until something came to him. Before the troll could even move, he blurted out the following:

Neither tinder nor flint does light this fire. Neither wood nor oil sustains it. Invisible, yet it is felt by all. It warms the heart, and makes even the meekest stand against all that faces him.

This was something the troll had not heard before. He growled and hissed, stamping his feet against the ground trying to find the answer.

“No…no…I never lose! I always know the answer!” The troll screamed. At that moment, the first light of dawn streamed through a high window and into the dank cellars. The troll had enough time for his anger to turn to fear before the light hit his skin, turning him to stone instantly.

Sigmund panted and sighed with relief. He walked up to the troll and let out a weary smile.

“The answer my friend, is Hope.”

i think a lot of things that get called riddles are actually puzzles, brain teasers, trivia, or jokes. i don't think 'why was 6 afraid of 7' is a riddle that's just a joke. 'bobby's mother has three children. their names are april, may, and what?' is not a riddle, it's a puzzle. 'what word has three consecutive double letters' is just trivia. 'math riddle' is a fucking oxymoron that's just a math problem

i think it's only a riddle if it's some degree of whimsical, poetic, and non-literal. like, 'three men cross a river but only two get their hair wet. how is this possible?' is NOT a riddle if the answer is 'one of them is bald.' it's only a riddle if the 'three men' are virtues or the 'river' is the concept of time or some shit like that

Do you make your bed?

Sometimes yes, but by that I mean I half fold/half bundle up the sheets and toss them on top of my pillow. So no, not really 😅

What's your favorite number?

Never really had one, but I like when things can be evenly split, so even numbers and groups of five are satisfying 👌🏽

What is your job?

I’m currently a certified pharmacy technician. I used to be the manager but I had to step down when I went back to school cause I couldn’t be full time anymore.

If you could go back to school, would you?

Here I go with my long winded answers again 😅

If we’re talking go back in time to when I was younger and in school then yes. I fear I peaked in high school, and with my current knowledge of life I’d do so many things differently.

If we’re talking go back to school now for a career change, that’s what I’m currently doing. I’m not using my first degree, so I’m in school to be an X-ray technologist and I hope to move up to CT or MRI afterwards.

If we’re talking go back to school now just for funsies, then yes again. I love languages and wish I could properly learn so many! I took Italian in college which I picked up pretty easily cause it’s so similar to Spanish (my first language), ma capisco più che parlo. Non ho nessuno con cui praticare.

Can you parallel park?

Yes but I get so nervous about hitting other cars �� I’d prefer not to do it.

A job you had that would surprise people?

I think what’s most surprising is that I’ve only ever had one real job. I’ve done volunteer and community work, and some research stuff but a formal wage-paying job I’ve only had one of. I’ve had many position changes within that job, though.

Do you think aliens are real?

I don’t rule out the possibility of advanced life on another planet but I’m also not thinking about it on the regular.

Can you drive a manual car?

Definitely not lol. I didn’t learn to drive until I was 26 😬 and I’m turning 29 this year…

What's your guilty pleasure?

Honestly it’s BLs, cause of the stigma around it. But if I’m around strangers I can talk about it! I met so many nice BL fans at an event back in February. It’s just hard to find people who get it.

Anything else though, I’m loud and proud! Haters to the left! 💁🏽‍♀️

Tattoos?

I’ve always wanted one! But I’m so indecisive on what to get! There is this one design I really want but then I think about it and I’m like “but where to place it???” 😭

Favorite color?

Green!!! But also purple and white

Favorite type of music?

I listen to a lot of different genres but I like pop music the most. Of course I’m into Kpop, and I love an 80’s synth sound!

Do you like puzzles?

Omg yes, I love brain teaser-type puzzles! I do the daily NYT games whenever I can and I love trivia shows and riddles and problem solving games! So fun!

Any phobias?

I’m scared of heights but I can be brave sometimes. I really don’t like slimy things like slugs and snails or boogers.

Favorite childhood sport?

I love swimming! I was actually on my high school swim team! I did the IM which is all strokes but I also did the Butterfly 🏊🏼‍♀️ and my team started the school’s synchronized swimming team too! 🙆🏽‍♀️🌊

Do you talk to yourself?

All the time! But who doesn’t? And to my pets and stuff too.

What movies do you adore?

I used to love going to the movies but I haven’t been back much since covid. And I don’t really seek out older movies to watch. But I love romance so stuff like Pride & Prejudice and Fools Rush In. And my family loves Disney so Tarzan, and The Incredibles are my faves! We rewatch a lot of Disney films all the time.

Coffee or tea?

I very much enjoy tea but I seldom drink it. I should change that 🤔 and I’m unfortunately chronically tired and need coffee to survive 😞 but I don’t get the complex drinks, just a regular coffee, 2-3 cups a day.

First thing you wanted to be growing up?

Uhh idk really. My answer was always changing, I never had a *dream* career 🤷🏽‍♀️
