Stolen: Ch. 1 | Dick Brewer x reader
A/N: Hey everyone! Enjoy your quarantine with this new YG thing I wrote. Requests are open and appreciated, as always. —Ally xx
Chapter 2 | requested by @hecatemacbeth7
There were no words to describe the utmost hell Richard Brewer went through that morning.
The hardest was not having the courage to look the man before him in the eye. It was all wrong. After all, it was John Tunstall, his benefactor, the closest thing to a father he’d ever had. The thought that the man who generously saved his life when he wasn’t even sure he wanted to keep on living, should possibly mourn the loss of his only child, was driving Richard insane with pain and guilt.
Because the truth was, he felt responsible for what had happened.
The first thing that alarmed them when they entered the dining room that morning was how eerily dark and lifeless it was. No fire in the stove, no sound of clanking plates and glasses in the kitchen. Not a trace of that fine, savory scent which filled the house every morning and greeted the Regulators after a long day of hard work. And the most sinister of all—no sign of you.
Searching your room, the whole house and eventually every inch of the property did nothing to unveil the mystery of your disappearance. While the six young men gazed expectantly at Mr. Tunstall, whose brows furrowed as he grew sick with worry, Dick was silently cursing his own stupidity and whatever it was that had kept him from reaching out to you the previous night.
He was seeing everything in a flash. He remembered the day he first saw you in town. He had crept up to the trader’s market, tucked behind a wooden barrel, waiting for a fat man to shield him from the merchant’s view and allow him to finally snatch that ripe, red apple which made his mouth water. You saw him crouching in dirty rags like a cat ready to jump. Maybe you even sensed the excrutiating hunger clawing on the inside of his stomach. He spotted you at the last moment, as his held-out hand was inching toward the fruit. You couldn’t have been older than fourteen, he thought. You were pulling on the sleeve of the gentleman beside you, pointing your finger at his starved frame. No sooner had Dick prepared to run, not even waiting to hear the familiar shriek (“Thief!”), than the friendly-looking man approached him with a sympathetic glint in his eye. To his undying amazement, the noble man merely reached for the apple he had been eyeing, wasting no time in pulling a couple of shiny quarters out of his pocket and paying for the treat. Dick couldn’t recover from surprise as he stared at the outstretched hand before him.
“There, son. You must be hungry.”
He barely managed to nod his head before burying his teeth in the heavenly sweetness.
“My name’s John Tunstall. And this is my daughter, [Y/N].”
Not even the delightful taste on his tongue could come close to the sudden wave of warmth and comfort that washed over him when he met your eyes for the first time. Standing before him was something he’d never encountered in his short life—a friendly face.
Little Dick Brewer found home that day.
He admired your kindness and the motherly care you showed in tending to each young man your father took under his wing. You treated them like family, mending their clothes, cooking and looking after the boys who took place of the brothers you’d always wished you had.
He reminisced of the times you spent together, your friendship strengthening and his love for you blossoming with each day. Growing up side by side brought you closer together than he could ever imagine. As the time went on, your secret spot under an old oak tree on a steep hill behind the house became your favourite hiding place. Nobody knew about it but you and Richard. He couldn’t count all the times you spent sitting in the shade, daydreaming and trading secret hopes and fears in your little private universe.
It was under that same tree that years later something finally pushed him over the line, giving him just enough courage to sheepishly run his hand over your cheek and whisper in your ear how much he loved you. He hardly believed his eyes when you leaned into him, laying your head on his chest and confessing that he’d been the only man in your heart for as long as you could remember. Your lips sealed a moment later, drowning out the rest of the world as you melted in his embrace.
He didn’t leave your side even as Murphy invaded your father’s property, followed by Sheriff Brady and his demonic men threatening to make your life a living hell if he refused to play by their dirty rules. The blazing anger in your eyes was enough to scare the Regulators and make sure to hold you back from firing your gun at the trespassers right then and there.
That afternoon Dick gave you a sign to meet him under the old oak later in the evening. He had already been thinking about revealing your unbeknownst love to your father and the rest of the guys for quite some time. Hiding such a sacred thing somehow didn’t feel right anymore. All he needed was your approval, after which you could only hope for the best.
Part of him felt like his whole world was crushing when you didn’t show up that night. His suspicions grew darker with each passing minute. He hated himself for feeling so lost and miserable. The anguish and jealousy were tearing him apart as the memories came flooding back: you taking an immediate liking to the new Regulator, that sandy-haired weasel, laughing at his jokes and keeping him out of trouble. Dick couldn’t even bring himself to check your room that night, afraid he might run into Billy right at your door.
And when he thought nothing could hurt him more than being stood up like that, the daybreak brought a chilling discovery. You were nowhere to be found.
How could I have been so stupid? If only I’d been thinking straight. If I hadn’t been so caught up in my own doubts, she’d still be with us.
That’s when they found the letter.

• • • looking for: 3-4 co-producers of ghastly, a true crime podcast focusing on cases with perceived paranormal links.
[ ghastly ]
a b o u t ,
in the fall of 2015, richard noble and a group of former friends from arcadia falls met up for their yearly round of drinks, a friendship strained by years of distance that would, otherwise, have gradually met its end. instead, dick had become intoxicated enough to discuss the mystery of his mother’s death and the town’s reaction, the belief in the ghosts that haunt whitethorn manor still pervading amongst age-old whispers. that night, the idea of ghastly had oozed from their drunken thoughts and they began to research potential cases to look into. using dick’s own name — and accompanying infamy — as a marketing ploy, they began to develop a following that allowed them to delve deeper into the mysteries they’d chosen and, most importantly, explore the nature of the paranormal beliefs that take root.
since the podcast’s inception, fans have begged dick to explore the mystery of his own past. before, it had never been an option — his father would have likely refused his son’s entry, let alone given permission for the podcast to examine the details of that night. now, however, that his father’s passed, dick’s finally agreed to answer the questions his fans have demanded of him and his father denied him. it’s a best of both worlds scenario, in dick’s realm — decipher the biggest secret of his past and capitalize on the trauma he’s told himself he’s grown past. however, the questions they’re demanding of their hometown might have been ones best kept dormant as the people of arcadia falls decide what truths they’ll tell.

alright so this is all pretty simple!! the true crime podcast ghastly was formed in 2015 and has had two seasons since delving into missing persons cases or murders that have additional elements of paranormal beliefs embedded into the local lore. while primarily exploring the mystery, the team also examines the relationship between the truth and the lore, attempting to find some connection in what people believe to what might be factual. they’ve achieved a fairly successful following, enough to make a living on the ads and spend their time digging up old secrets and reopening old wounds. now, the podcast’s come home to arcadia falls where dick’s personal connection comes into play.
for the co-producers, i’d like most of them to have been originally from arcadia falls and have stayed in touch with dick more-or-less since he moved to st. louis. they should have been traveling around the midwest with dick for the four years leading up to their return and i’ve outlined their individual roles and age ranges! however, they’re all investigative journalists [some with more credentials than others, but it’s their Passion] and i’m hoping that interviews/investigations will be a fun additional foundation for plotting!!!! also this should go without saying by now, but i am a HUGE advocate for angst!!! if they have their own personal grievances or agenda with some weird occurrence in this town that’s distracting them from what dick would say is “the real case,” i’d love it!!!

Stolen: Ch. 2 | Dick Brewer x reader
A/N: Here’s the final part! I honestly had such a blast writing this. Hope you enjoy! Love, Ally xx
Chapter 1 | requested by @hecatemacbeth7
“The writer of this letter assures Mr. Tunstall that it is in the best interest of his beloved daughter to sell his land and leave Santa Fe as soon as possible. Should Mr. Tunstall not oblige, he should expect a new one written in her own blood.”
The envelope had been left on the windowsill in your room. Billy was the one who spotted it. No name was signed at the bottom, but none was needed anyway. Your father’s features contorted in despair as he tried his best to keep from screaming. Dangling from his clenched fist was your late mother’s gold chain necklace, a proof your kidnappers had sent to remind him that your life was now officially in their hands.
Dick’s eyes darted over the paper in a frenzy.
“I should’ve known”, he muttered through gritted teeth, momentuosly jumping to his feet. “I’ll kill them all!”
The clicking of guns at the ready sliced through the air. Before Mr. Tunstall knew it, Billy and Dick were standing with their pistols pointed right at each other.
“I coulda killed ya, Dick”, the blonde cowboy snickered, “I coulda killed ya. But I don’t wanna kill ya, I wanna go look for [Y/N].”
“You don’t know the first thing about her!”, barked Richard as Chavez and Doc pulled them apart, urging them both to lower the weapons.
Mr. Tunstall put a trembling hand on Richard’s shoulder, deeply moved by their impatience to rescue his daughter.
“Boys, I appreciate your determination, but I believe we’ll need to pull ourselves together before we can even think of finding a way to help [Y/N].”
He couldn’t hide the tremor in his voice, nor the glint in his eye as he took in the sight before him: six young men willing to die for the person he held closest to his heart.
The heavy silence was suddenly broken by the sound of hooves hitting the ground at breakneck pace. Richard raced toward the open window.
“[Y/N]!”
He was out the door in an instant, pulling you off the horse and wrapping his strong arms around your shaking body. You quickly buried your face in his shirt, inhaling the familiar scent of his skin. His touch soothed you more than anything in the world. He was there, he was real. You made it. You were back.
It was only after your lips had finally pulled apart that he realized what he had done.
By then everyone had rushed out of the house. You could barely hold back tears at the sight of your father. Untangling from Richard’s arms, you ran toward him with unhidden joy.
Your father caressed your bruised face as he held you close, inspecting your bloody hands.
“Who did this, my love?”
You told them everything, from how Murphy’s men had ambushed you while you were on your way to the rendezvous with Richard the previous night, to the way they tied your hands and covered your mouth when they took you to their boss. You described how he sized you up with leering eyes and demanded something of value to ensure the credibility of his message. But what really made your blood turn to ice was hearing his men talk about having their way with you before blowing your brains out in case your father didn’t take the threat seriously.
They all made but one mistake: took your abilities for granted.
The two men Murphy left in charge of you couldn’t have guessed how handy with iron their prisoner was. Having to sit there the whole night with nothing to do bored them out of their minds, as the boss had told them they couldn’t afford to hurt you before they knew if the Belted Earl was willing to cooperate. They were both sleepy and somewhat drunk, which made it easier for you to attack one while the other was out relieving himself. You wasted no time in seizing the rifle which had tumbled from his knees to the floor, knocking him in the jaw and firing at his friend who had run up the stairs at the sudden commotion. You made sure that both were out before you escaped through a window.
“Then I jumped on the first horse I saw and got out of there as fast as I could”, you finished your story with audible relief, grateful for the chance to once again hug your father and tell him how much you loved him.
Dick was standing by the side, uneasiness written all over his face as he listened to your voice. You decided in that moment to let him know that you hadn’t forgetten about him.
“There’s another thing I haven’t told you...”, you said with sudden firmness as you walked over to him and took his hand.
“Yeah, we kinda figured that much”, Billy couldn’t keep from cracking. Dick was trying to hide the blush on his face. You gave him a reassuring squeeze before turning to your father.
John Tunstall was looking at the two of you with a mixture of pride and affection.
“I must say”, he smiled, “Master William got it right this time.”
Dirty Steve’s howling outdid the collective laughter of the merry company.
“I want you to know I am very proud of you all”, your father said with a solemn expression, “And you, my children, have my blessing. May you be as happy together as I could ever wish.”
Dick wrapped an arm around your shoulders, pulling you close as you both thanked him with teary eyes. You put a hand on his chest, rising on the tiptoes to reach his mouth. His other arm wound around your waist just a moment before you locked lips with the man you were willing to live or die for.
All vows and love you’s were unnecessary. You’d both said it a long time ago.
