I am absolutely not following that drama about the debut author who tried to sabotage her fellow debut authors BUT. I’ve seen a bit about it and some parts are honestly hilarious. When she got called out for making fake goodreads accounts to leave bad reviews, she made up a friend to pin the blame on and she gave this imaginary friend an elaborate backstory, including that said friend was a Reylo fan. It was at this point that we pause the story to inform readers that “we asked the Reylo people and they all agree they’ve never heard of this person”.

Per my last reblog you may not have heard abt that bc it happened on Twitter but when Bungie did its post-TFS layoffs I said “at least Hazel got fired” and immediately people turned on me and acted as if I said I hoped she had been killed and dumped in a ditch somewhere, all I said was I’m glad a notable racist homophobe Reylo stan who, yes, also wrote some very good things in Destiny, will no longer be contributing to calling an Asian man a racial slur, AFTER Bungie apologized and promised not to do it anymore. She got put on Drifter duty and all of a sudden he’s a rat again; she’s not solely responsible of course, her work had to have been reviewed and allowed to pass with that in there, but it was obvious it was her work. But since people think Drifteris was cute and she’s best friends with H*ykebyr she’s just allowed to do that I GUESS

And then the head of an artist events group I hadn’t interacted with in several years Tweeted a screenshot of what I said and claimed falsely that I was stalking and harassing her and her mods for years, I was negatively affecting their mental health, and I was unmedicated and dangerous. Almost 50 thousand people saw that Tweet and none of it was true, and nobody cared or bothered to ask for literally any proof whatsoever because I wasn’t sad about a racist who blocks gay people who don’t like her weird Star Wars ship on her business account as a public figure getting fired. They were so upset because I privately, to someone else who leaked my conversation, criticized the way they moderate their Discord server lol, but instead of just saying that they fabricated this entire psychological siege I’ve apparently been conducting and yet produced not a single shred of evidence! Mysterious!!

And that’s not even to touch on the much worse harassment friends of mine and other prominent figures in the community have received for pointing out racism or antisemitism inside the game and its lore, even though that criticism has always come from a place of loving the game and wanting it to be better and hold itself to the standard of equity and love it professes. What happened to me is nothing compared to their experience.

So fuck Destiny artists lmaooo. So sad so many of them have come to Warframe now, nobody wants your musty ass art. So if you’re curious why I unfollowed or broke mutuals with people, I love Destiny but I’m not having racists’ art on my dash and it’s not y’all fault for reblogging it I just don’t care to see anyone’s D2 art anymore. Anyone I personally had an issue with I just blocked, no hard feelings for anybody else. Still happy to take comms for it but between that experience and what the game has become, a horrid microtransaction hole where no one who made the game great is even there anymore, its time in my life is done :/

Kaishin Reveal and What It Means For You

Okay I need everyone to keep their shit together because I think this is being blown out of proportion. What follows is a quick rant about what the hell is going in the DCMK fandom and what is going on in fandom in general cause I don’t know why I’m seeing so many people lose their shit over something that was most likely going to happen followed by a quick lesson by a ‘fandom elder’ on how to ignore canon and make a ship your own. 

Spoilers ahead and whatnot. 

April 11th the DCMK 27 movie came out and information was revealed about how Kaito Kuroba and Shinichi Kudou are now cousins. Twitter lost its mind, Tumblr lost its mind, Discord servers are being created and now everyone is wondering what the hell should they do. 

I’m going to be honest, if you are a creator for KaiShin, please don’t delete your work. 

Either archive it or orphan it but please don’t delete it.

You put time and effort into this, into something you love, and just because the mangaka is so SO set in his ways of every single ship being friends to lovers does not mean you have to follow the same format. This doesn’t make you an incest shipper or whatever, it doesn’t make you a person who you don’t want to be, it’s just something that you had no idea of knowing was going to happen and I hope that you can look back at it fondly. 

Anyways, for those enjoying Kaishin on the sidelines all I’m going to say is Pick a Lane. 

Ignore Canon 

If you are an old time shipper then this may not be new for you. I mean Gosho literally had another ship that turned out to be cousins like at this point it’s ‘who is my cousin’ being played in the entire Detective Conan manga. You either already guessed it, are an active incest shipper (hi, hello, tis a me) or you are used to your favourites dying. This situation is no fucking different. 

Wolfwood is dead, in my head he is alive and well and treating his Plant husband right. 

Sora is missing, not in my head where he is kissing Roxas and Riku and Kairi and whoever else wants to get at the sunshine of the KH universe. 

Ben is dead, NOT IN MY REYLO FANFICTION. 

If you are a person who actively kept up with the manga or actively kept up with the show it is possible to ignore canon because they do not suddenly go super deep into being cousins and knowing about each other. They both don’t know if they are cousins or else the jig would be up immediately and the manga would be finished. You CAN ignore canon and if Kaishin is a ship that brings you joy and just serotonin production I implore you guys to choose this lane if you still want to enjoy Kaishin. 

It’s by far the healthiest option and teaches you how to curate your own fandom experience. 

Alternate Universes and You 

I was in the Hannibal fandom for a while and I clearly remember the ‘Hannibal is not a Cannibal’ tag on AO3. I thought it was hilarious but I would never dare to make fun of it because that is a prime example of CURATING YOUR FANDOM EXPERIENCE. 

Here are some examples on how you can start tagging:

Or just make a quick blurb of how you mean this drawing/fic to be perceived. Again, this is your experience and you get to make the space you want to make. It’s up to you to make/interact with the content that makes you most comfortable. Again, if you want to delve into AU’s then that is up to you and I think it’s a pretty good lane for those who just feel weird about the whole reveal. 

Stepping Away

Your moral values are your own, people, and I am in no position or even want to judge them. If you feel uncomfortable about this now, see your love for Kaishin diminishing because of the reveal or just don’t see yourself shipping Kaishin in the future then you are more than capable of measuring your response and stepping away from the ship entirely for your own health. 

Is it going to be sad? Yes, but they are fictional and I recommend having an idea of what you have in your life outside of fandom that makes you happy that you can focus on as you go through this. College, work, whatever hobbies you may have taken up–hell put all your eggs into another ship that you know also brings you joy! 

Do not let this dictate your day or your month or your year. This is just fandom, you don’t have to make a big statement unless asked about it, you do not have to justify your decision to anybody, curate.your.fandom.experience. 

I’m going to end this with a repeat of what I just said. 

This is all fictional. We are playing in a fictional sandbox where we can all make whatever we want in any capacity and as long as it is tagged correctly then nobody’s lines have to be crossed. If you just started enjoying Kaishin, find out how you still want to enjoy it or step away. If you have shipped Kaishin for a while, do the same fucking thing! The east side of the fandom is having a field day with the movie, why can’t the west have some fun too?! 

I’m going to ship Kaishin (however all my reblogs will be moved to my other blog for incest-y stuff and just other content people may not vibe with in general) and hell I might just join the Kaishin Big Bang for the hell of it because I have been shipping this ship since I was 15 years old and I’m about to be 30 so….I’m staying fucking seated cause you aren’t getting me out of this chair, Aoyama, you aren’t getting me to ship Aoko with anyone other an Akako so suck on that.

1.- Do I have to be a part of the Discord Server to participate?

No, you do not. However, you're welcome to request a link through any of our socials and join us. The Obianidala server is fairly small in comparison to other servers and we host corners for other ships as well as the trio.

2.- Do I have to do exactly what my giftee required?

No, you are not forced to write the exact prompt your giftee might have stated. However, you MUST abide by their parameters of ships and DNWs (Note that our manual selection will ensure you're paired up with someone that meets best your profile so as to ensure any possible discomfort will not arise. Meaning, if you don't like certain ships or tropes, you will most likely not be paired up with someone who does)

3.- I signed up but I don't think I'll be able to make my gift anymore, what do I do?

Drop-out. We have established November 26 as the deadline for dropping out of the exchange but if you're positive you'll feel this way even before that date comes, we ask you to please drop out using the default button on Ao3 and inform us through socials or mods' private messaging on Discord. Please, do not ghost. No explanation will be needed but we do ask you to inform us of your dropping-out so we can make adjustments and make sure people don't get neglected with their gift(s).

4.- What is a Secret Santa Letter? Is that mandatory for the exchange?

A Secret Santa letter (or just 'Dear Creator Letter') is a text (you can do it on either Google Docs or Tumblr or Livejournal or even here on AO3) where you list all the stuff you'd like to read/see and possibly receive as a gift for an exchange. Here you can go in detail of all your ships, sub-ships, your favorite tropes, personal headcanons or squicks.

The Secret Santa letter is not mandatory but we do heavily encourage you to try and write one out as that is the best way for your gifter to get to know you and know what would be best to give you.

5.- What are treats? Is that mandatory for the exchange?

Treats are extra works that you can give your giftee besides the one you're assigned to give them. You can create as much as you want for your giftee all throughout the exchange after assignments are out but you must do so anonymously if you're doing it before reveal dates.

They are not mandatory.

6.- Can I get more than one person as my giftee?

No. To ensure this exchange causes the least amount of stress possible, we're only allowing one giftee per participant. However, if you want to do stuff for specific individuals in the community while we're hosting this event, you're welcome to do so and the collection will gladly have your work(s) showcased.

7.- I don't want to be paired up with my giftee

That's okay. Reach out to us through socials or mods' private discord messaging and we'll get it sorted.

8.- Is this only going to be hosted on Ao3?

No. While AO3 hosts the sign-ups, all gifts will/can be posted to our other supported sites such as Twitter and/or Tumblr.

9.- I don't have an AO3 account to fill my sign-up

Reach out to us through socials or mods' private discord messaging so you can receive an invite to create an account.

10.- I don't want to drop-out but I don't think I'll be able to meet the deadline

That's okay. Late deliveries will have their window for posting all throughout January for you post your gift. However, we do ask you to disclose the status of your work during due and reveal dates to assure that your giftee is still getting their gift.

11.- Can I request/offer other ship(s) beside Obianidala?

Yes, you can. So long as you have at least one member of the trio in your request, it's okay.

Examples such as Codywan, Sabedala or simply Obikin are welcome. Ships like HanLeia or Reylo are not.
