Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but Luke Skywalker should've adopted Rey as his daughter. Come on! She's just like him! I love that idea! That way, everyone can have the Rey "Palpatine"/"Nobody"/"Skywalker" kind of all in one.

She acts just like his kid. Come on. And if we add DinLuke to it???? Even better! I just know Luke is a girl-dad. And Din would love to have a daughter!

Watching Force Awakens right now and I'm already planning in my head a rewite with Dinluke. Gonna outline it and see if I can write it before I start work on Tuesday. Fingers crossed.

Domestic DinLuke family of four (Din's working on making that last number bigger) where Luke comes downstairs still sleepy and slightly worried because it's very early and Din is not in bed snuggling him, nor are Rey or Grogu in their cribs. He's given the adorable sight of their daughter and son sleeping on Din, who's snoring away in his big sofa chair by the fireplace.

Hand on his heart and a big smile Luke decides it's the perfect opportunity to wake them up with pancakes.....until he sees the messy kitchen, giving away the three were up in the middle of the night baking Force knows what.

A sudden warning/chill in the air has Din wide awake.

Luke: (standing over him, arms crossed, twitching) What is the state of the kitchen?

Din: (still pinned by their kids) Uh....I-I can explain.

Luke: There are EGGS on the ceiling. Why???

Din: Uh....I...can explain?

Luke: And you left the milk out...all night???

Here is my wallop of ridiculous tropes with a twist once again.

A holiday ReyRose Modern!AU with DinLuke!Dads

We all love a good "No where else to go for Thanksgiving/Hanukkah/Christmas Life Day? Come spend it with my family!!"

Rey does this with Rose.

Only Rey was raised by the most chaotic ragtag collection of war veterans, politicians, bounty hunters, smugglers, crime bosses, and-

Well, yall get it.

The Skywalker-Djarin-Organa-Solo household is always at its prime during the holidays. Han watches the big podrace game with Boba. It doesn't matter how old they get it always ends with one of them in a headlock. Fennec places bets with Chewie on who it'll be every year.

Leia takes refuge in the kitchen where Din does most of the cooking with Paz and where Bo-Katan has the best wine.

Lando keeps an endless game of Sabaac going where Poe doesn't know how he's fifty credits down. Finn knows exactly how Poe's fifty credits down but was sworn to secrecy by Lando three years ago.

I also think that this could be a great opportunity for cantankerous Luke Skywalker. Who has been overly dedicated to his own research despite the fact it annoys him. (the sacred jedi tExtS)

This of course is all normal to Rey. It's a perfectly average for her father to be down in his robe and slippers complaining about people who have been dead for decades and centuries and his lost glasses. ("Historians, you know? They're on your head, dad!")

And Luke really isn't even the most concerning of them, considering several of Rey's uncles all have matching tattoos. (Rose, joking: "so which one of them was in the mafia?" Finn, not: "yes." Poe, later: "oh those guys are fine its Leia you really have to be worried about.")

But it's busy enough that none of the parents truly realizes they have extra company this year. (Luke is used to Din brining home strays and vice versa.)

But it's big brother Grogu who notices its Rey who's brought home a girl. The mischief maker know exactly what this means. He only signs and uses it to his full advantage of the situation, asking Rey things right in front of Rose.

"Have you rented the u-haul yet?" And "does dad know? does Buir?" "do I get to be the best man?" "you better not invite Ben to the wedding, I'll fight him again you know I will." (Previous holiday incident)

(Ben Solo is currently abroad, enjoying what he considers a normal holiday at his boyfriend's coworker, Armitage's, house.)

This tips off Rose when Rey goes beet red everything Grogu signs something. Rose thinks it's cute and accidentally says as much. Lots of awkward and shy moments.

Eventually, it's Din that notices, when Rose gets a little overwhelmed. They have a bonding moment. ("I was exactly where you were once, don't worry. They're not so bad after you get used to them.")

(Han, listening in, snorts "as if she's got a choice. Once a Skywalker sets their sights on you it's game over. Best to get used to it now, kid.")

Rose actually finds that charming.

It's not until they're saying goodbye and Rey scores they keys to the Falcon (much to Poe's dismay) to drive Rose home when it all comes out.

Grogu casually signs 'Better take your girlfriend somewhere nice since you made her first date a family dinner.'

("Girlfriend?" Luke blurts the same time Din says "You're dating?" )

Rey absolutely does the quickest kthxbye, face the color of tomato. Din and Luke deal with going over each step of the night to see if they embarrassed their daughter or not. (or exposed any of the long standing family drama)

Rose grins the whole way home and even sneaks a kiss on her cheek before getting out of the car. Lots of fluff. Rose does send a text the next morning "So are you in the mafia?" "no. just my dad's secret society."

Rose can't actually tell if she's joking. Rey isn't.

It all works out in the end.

luke and leia's relationship is everything to me. I admit i'm biased because i'm a twin but...they are so intimately connected in the force they were mistaken as one child. they were separated for their own safety and as insurance. they love each other more than anything but there's also so much between them, so much they have to heal from. after so much was taken from them, they found each other and love each other more than anything, even if it's hard to swallow. god they make me insane.

dinluke YEAH I KNOW but i am one of the few people who is normal about it and understands it. they are the reluctant last leaders of their kind who are grappling with their duty. they care so much about their family and their cultural identity but struggle with being survivors. they are everything to me and i am gatekeeping them

i have never seen rebels but skybridger said something. i will have more thoughts when i finally sit down and watch rebels (if i ever do...sw and me are going through it)

luke and ahsoka's platonic relationship....i think ahsoka and luke would have so much to go through together to heal as both family and Jedi. to get through what anakin and vader put them through and forward into creating something new for their people. ahsoka being a teacher to her teacher's son. yeah.

luke and rey now listen i know their relationship is entirely in my head and the movies screwed them over but i know the real sequels and in them luke loves his daughter and rey loves her father and they are a family thank you

I am so biased. Everything about Luke Skywalker is my favorite. But if I had to pick...I think just how he always chooses to be kind. He just makes a conscious choice, even when things are bad, to be kind. He loves and forgives and is just so soft and it feels so different than a standard Generic Fantasy White Guy Hero. He doesn't get the girl. He doesn't strike down the big bad. He doesn't hold a grudge. He is just a sweet and gentle guy who saved the day by expressing love and forgiveness.

I can't even say that was him. It was just another universe. Because that character did not make sense. It honestly was just such a poor writing choice that (like the act of him putting Grogu in the X-Wing on his own) that I can't see it as part of the story. Luke doesn't eat very well. Possibly never has but it got worse as time went on and he started to suffer from stress and PTSD and anxiety. But he loves sweets. He will eat something sweet if you put it in front of him.

I also love to have him watch with Mark Hamill and have him be a vegetarian (or maybe a pescatarian) as it works with how intune he is with life and the Force

Luke was in the right to give Grogu a choice. He was in the right to unlock Grogu's memories after asking him for permission. He was in the right to give Grogu back to Din. He was in the right to train Grogu as he did. He was in the right about attachments.

Also Luke IS Star Wars and should remain the face of it, not Kylo Ren...not even Darth Vader.

Oh boy, time for Luke getting his punishments!

So, Luke tries to escape...it's not necessarily about leaving Din forever, but he felt a call. he had to go. So he sneaks off, though he knows this won't be good for him, and goes to see what is calling for him.

He finds Rey and saves her but gets hit. It hurts but he's ok and brings her back to Mandalore, knowing she'd be safe there. He is found by Din on the way back and ordered to follow him back and if he tries to escape he will be in so much (more) trouble.

Luke does as told and comes back with a scared and clingy Rey in his arms.

Din can't do much scolding with the child in his husband's arms, but gives him a look they will be talking about this in great detail.

Luke says he is sorry, he didn't want to disobey his Mand'alor but he knew Din would either fight him on going or prevent him completely and Luke couldn't risk it. he got there just in time to rescue the child. He had to go and save her.

They have to make a deal that Luke will always tell Din and not just leave and if it is serious enough, Din will accompany Luke with a mission like this, as he does not wish for a child to be harmed either.

Still, Luke has to get punished for what he has done.

Luke is spanked roughly seventy times, leaving him sobbing (wailing really) in the hold, apologizing to his husband for worrying him. He loses count a few times and Din makes him start over so it was probably more than seventy.

Luke then has to kneel before Din and apologize with his mouth and making sure that his husband feels good after being so worried for him. His backside hurts but he is able to ignore it as he lets Din choke him without any complaints.

Luke is not allowed to have any release that night and probably for a few nights after.

He is not allowed to wear any of his comfortable Jedi clothing and must wear consort robes that are too fancy or sheer for his taste. He has to sit on Din's lap all the time for meetings. He has to smile and be sweet to everyone and make no complaints.

But they keep Rey and Din loves her as his new daughter so he can't get too harsh on luke because he understands why he needed to go.

Still, Luke gets five extra morning spanks for his routine of discipline for about a year solid.
