And then of course the abrupt return of his memories followed promptly by a battle which culminated in a blast that should have killed him.

“By rhydonium, Gregs?” Rex replied drily with a raised eyebrow.

Gregor gave a weak chuckle. “Okay, maybe not rhydonium, but I’ve definitely been in more than my fair share of explosions and come out of it just fine.”

Carmine Red: How would they react to the other leaving on a trip/mission for a while?

“Don’t make that face. It’s just a quick mission!”

The more Gregor insisted that this was going to be a quick mission, the more Rex frowned. There was nothing ‘quick’ about flying through the outer rim and infiltrating the base on Serrenno to find a manifest of the supposed war chests from Dooku’s palace. Something like that took time. This wasn’t a simple extraction that would see him back in a few days. There was a goldmine of intel to be gathered from Captain Wilco and the troopers that remained loyal to the Empire that patrolled those chests.

Rex hugged himself a little tighter, frowned a little deeper, even as Gregor sighed and put his pack down at the foot of the ramp and folded his arms around him. Admittedly, some of the tension that had gathered in his shoulders had dissipated as soon as Rex had taken in the fresh scent of the herbal scented shampoo that Senator Chuchi had provided them. It smelled nice, but it smelled even better of Gregor’s fresh skin, and Rex found himself pressing his nose into his neck, trying to commit the scent and feel to memory.

Gregor chuckled, “Hey, how am I supposed to woo the guards if you breathe in all of my charm?”

A dry huff left Rex’s lips. “You’re not supposed to be charming anyone.”

“I charmed you, didn’t I?”

Gregor’s statement Made Rex blush and he closed his eyes, choosing to keep himself in this moment than to go off on some tangent that he knew would take his mind off of the mission that was to come. All in all, Gregor would be gone for a few weeks if he was successful at gaining all of the intel that the base had to offer. Finding out what was in those war chests could prove beneficial to their efforts, be it selling it off or actually finding a use for it.

Rex sighed. He should be going with him, not playing hide and seek in the slums of Coruscant with whatever brothers they could find.

“Come on, Rex, you know I would take you with me, but you said it yourself,” Gregor reasoned, “you need to be here in case someone finds their way here. They’ll need a friendly face, someone that they know they can count on, and who better to greet them than the strong, handsome mug of Captain Rex of the five-hundred-and-first?”

The title sat weirdly with Rex. Even if that has been his title at some point, he was just Rex now, Rex of the Clone Recovery Team. It was brothers, like Gregor, that insisted he still keep his title of Captain out of respect. Rex didn’t mind one way or another, truth be told, as long as he was doing his duty and helping those he could, that was enough for him.

Except this. He wanted Gregor to stay with him.

“I can send someone else,” Rex finally said with no small amount of petulance.

“You could,” Gregor agreed, “but I’m the best man for the job, and you know it. Now come on. Let me get going, okay?”

Rex still scowled, but he lifted his head and then bowed forward for Gregor to his forehead, then his lips. It was a slow kiss, meaningful and deliberate and full of the fire and passion they both shared in their bodies, and Rex finally conceded, opened his arms, and wrapped Gregor into them.

When they parted, breathless, Rex nodded. “Go, before I change my mind.”

“I’ll be back before you know it,” Gregor reassured with another chaste peck of their lips. “Stay alive until then.”

24. Which of the two is the most competitive? tbh, neither Waxer nor Boil is terribly competitive about most things, but I'd say that, in general, Waxer is a bit more competitive. They both love one-upping each other playfully, though, and Boil, in particular, likes to snark back and forth with people he's comfortable with, which could be considered competitive.

39. What other couple would your otp get along with the best? The first one that comes to mine is not from my AU, but rather from @catbuir's, where Rex and Gregor are together, and I think the four of them have a great vibe. As for my AU... They get on really well with their former squad mates, my OCs Teeko and Wobble, but who else...? Huh, ya know what, I think they'd click with Foxiyo. :D Waxer and Fox have met once and already have some mutual respect, and I think Waxer and Riyo would hit it off. Boil and Fox could, of course, share in the 'srs face but heart eyes for my loved ones' thing, but I also think they would enjoy talking about a lot of the same things and learning from each other.

What I wouldn't give for an animated "blooper reel" for Bad Batch:

- Hunter leaning up against a wall between takes, dozing off and almost falling over

- Tech looking down at his data pad while on the move through a forest set and walking straight into a tree

- Wrecker sitting down on the wrong chair and accidentally breaking it

- Echo flubbing his lines on purpose to make the others laugh while he keeps his own expression dead serious

- Crosshair not laughing when Echo flubs his lines, instead silently matching Echo's serious expression with the take ultimately turning into an intense staring contest

- Cut to Crosshair in his trailer loudly singing karaoke and playing air guitar with the prop rifle

- Omega is filming ALL of it

- Also Omega is the first to break character when anyone messes up a line

- Also Omega starting the cast conga line/dance party

- Rex, during his reveal in "The Clone Conspiracy," jokingly complaining that removing his cloak hood messes up his hair

- Several Howzer scenes needing to be reworked because donning/doffing his helmet actually messes up his hair cue Crosshair shouting from the sidelines "Just shave your head already"

Joining Star Wars Tumblr with a banger 🫶

Hi! I am Mayo, a history student who watched her first proper Star Wars in October last year. I’m an artist who is mostly active on Twitter, but my friends have recommended spreading to Tumblr aswel. (I have no idea how this app works…)

My interests are Dathomir (specifically the Nightbrothers (specifically Maul and Feral)), Clones, droids, Ithorians and men who eat cereal. Next to canon characters, I also like to draw my own OCs. I will definitely show them on here from time to time. As a side quest I am also creating my own Dathomirian clan. 💛

My most iconic art are probably these silly looking clones. They are still a work in progress. (For my twitter followers: I have tanned their skin a bit more. I forgot I had my blue light filter on and got jumpscared earlier).

Could I have detailed out any one of these on its own and be done with it? Most likely. Did I get overwelmed with all the cool reference pictures I had found once I decided what I will draw, and then couldn't pick? Absolutely. Will I still draw Cody and Obi-Wan the first time I'll have time for a personal project next year even though I don't want to see them ever again? You know me and can recognize patterns, of course that is what I will do XD
